Uh, I wrote too much to put in the tags. Putting them directly here.
I heard ishida is interested in an anime for chojin x but thats about it I think.
Anyway I dont personally think it would be all bad if tg got a remake. I dont know if it is any consolation but I am in the chainsaw man fandom for both the manga and anime, saw the anime episodes and discussion around it weekly as they came out. It is possible to avoid bad takes because for me the experience ended up being fantastic. Mostly because I only use tumblr tho I think. I am not very social so that was enough for me.
Csm has its own atrocious takes appear everytime a new chapter comes out but the worst ones are reserved for popular platforms like youtube and twitter. We can have peace on the old deserted tumblr like it is for csm. But yeah the rest of the internet would be insufferable.
The same things are true for the topic of impossible expectations for a remake I think. We can have at least one space where we wont see bullshit.
I dont think an anime adaptation is necessary either. I never push for an adaptation but if it does happen then it is like a "holy shit! Two cakes!" situation. I never wanted one for csm but it ended up being very exciting in the end for me.
Not because the anime was absolutely perfect or anything; but the surge of new fans and their contributions, the openings and endings, the anime staff's own additions and takes on scenes and then the fans' own opinions and comparisons, theories, meta takes, fanart and fanfics, edits, animatics and animations, all the fandom creativity you can think of absolutely thrives whenever people collectively get something new to think about. And thats usually what an adaptation does. Even if it ends up being a bad adaptation it will open discussion. And discussion on the manga will open too in return. I mean, the tg anime wasnt good, but it is still interesting to think about isnt it? This is what I love about getting to follow a series every week.
I may be too optimistic because of my most recent good experience but yeah. If a remake does end up happening in the end despite your wish, I hope reading this will ease your worries at least a bit.
Everyone’s talking abt how great it would be if tg got a remake and it’s like. Okay but this fandom was dreadful when it was big? The current fandom barely has media literacy or reading comprehension as it stands, people will always be toxic and suddenly we’ll have all the cishet men coming back to give the world’s worst takes.
Being a Shuu fan in those times? Dire. Let me tell you. The bullying was insane, the mischaracterisation of the initial popular fandom was so rampant that it still reigns now. I honestly think if TG ever gets popular again I might leave the internet. I don’t like the state of the internet right now, it’s heinous, frankly, and in fandom especially. The TG fandom getting popular again would be a disaster.
This isn’t even mentioning whether or not a ‘good’ remake is possible. People now speak of a remake like it’s this mythically perfect thing - if only X studio would make it, then… - people are in love with the idea of a remake. So anything that is made has a chance of not meeting the impossible expectations set by it. Does TG even need to be an anime? Personally I prefer it as a manga - yes I like the anime and I do find the fight scenes in TG don’t read well, but I like it as a manga. I’d much prefer Choujin X or something new be made into anime.
#also if the staff makes the tumblr community thing more usefull I will kick annoying people out for you#so we can at least have that... as comforting as that is... not very comforting yeah. the communities arent exactly very good#eh a remake probbaly wont happen anyway right..?#tokyo ghoul#honestly everything you said is right.#this is just the perspective I look at things from
