Out of morbid curiosity i went to look at the new story in Dislyte with Sachiko and holy shit. Which fucken hack wrote this? I'm not spoiler tagging this cause really, it's not worth the effort.
I kind of???????Man.
It felt like someone read the original story and wrote a petty rewrite that blatantly shows their biases for and against certain characters.
Like the biggest issue was defo the Gaius plot twist he got actually done dirty?? Idk i feel like its a problem with the isekai/transmigration genre as a whole but you don't innovate by subverting subversions. You just end up going back to stereotypes. OG!Gaius was a subversion of the whole "Stoic Highly Decorated Man in Position of Power that doesn't look like he belongs" and then he proves time and time again that he's approachable and loves and cares for people so deeply that he'd maintain an image of himself (his display of medals--that garners negative comments about his character being prideful, mind you) just on the rare occasion that it could provide some comfort to the people he's helping. He lives eVERYDAY, trying to live up to Hannah's memory. This is a man that misses burnt peach pie because his wife made it for him. In the new storyline..he's just a transcendent obsessed, power hungry bastard. None of the character nuance.
And then Abigail and Alexa. I hate that they're not allowed to just be morally grey characters. New update makes them "acceptably" morally grey which IMO just flattens their characters. "Yes, a female character can be morally grey if they are your allies." Like fuck right off lmao. What's that??? The central intrigue of Abigail's personality is her ruthlessness contrasted with her softness for the few (few) people she actually cares about. It's literally her song. Roses in the snow.
And ugh. I hate the new "human"-ist moral of the Unknown Story. The fun part of the original Dislyte story was that people *dont know* what to think about Esper powers. Like Miracles are Dangerous, that's been established. Miramons are unknown beings that tend to cause mayhem and destruction. But on the espers' side? We run the gamut of characters seeing their powers as a source of good-- that because they gained powers they can better help and protect others (Tang Xuan, Li Ling, Ahmed, Bardon etc); to characters that hate their transformation because it turned them into monsters or changed their appearance in such a way to cause them great discomfort and body dysphoria (Nu Xi, Brewster, Heng Yue) and so many more that are ambivalent or have other things to worry about. And the central interest of their humanity *was* that contrast of perspectives. Shadow Decree was interesting as a unit because their mission statement was "Esper Acceptance" and that can mean both "we should understand how espers works so we should research it" to "live and let live" to "Esper Supremacy". Like remember when the story used to show the dichotomy of the glitz and glam of the Esper Union against the backdrop that many common folk and non powerful espers discriminated against Espers? That's the subversion. To flatten the message to "we must save the humans!!" and "esperification unilaterally corrupts and makes people go power hungry" is a 12 year old's idea of writing and nuance because it /ignores/ that people can have different perspectives over the same thing.
And haaaah. Like if anything that dislyte is good at, its in making characters that at least a few people will care about even if theyre mentioned shortly. That's just how strong the personalities are in this game. But it's kind of telling that I've seen no fanart or writing of Sachiko at all. Berenice, for how much I did not vibe with her or care about her in the story is beloved by even more people than I can count. (Also just petty sidenote: when a 'soft' female character gets 'corrupted' by power, and also the trope of female character having to be "saved" by ...getting mcfucken murdered by the masc main character)
But I think it's just sad that they cared so little for the new story that they couldn't even come up with a name for the Miracle. Unknown Miracle? You didn't even want to know your own story, man.

Doodles from Chapter 10 of Crest of the Dragon.
Final design for the human Ying Yang bird and her Mobi Morpher boots!!!!
I've never drawn Jack's Heylin uniform in color, but it's all black and red.
Bonus lil scribble notes about what happens in the chapter. My outlines for things are still pretty much the same. Though I try not to write them out on paper anymore in too much detail.
Really discouraging to plan something, only to have the characters go in a different direction. I think that's why I like the doodles so much. They don't have to be linear and if the scene isn't used, I still have a cool drawing.
Idk if anyone else has this problem.
Also, another sketch of Grand Master Bardon (he's crusty). Fun fact, got his name off the back of a truck.

What was the first Alice Munro story you ever read? Mine was Bardon Bus, and it began a love affair.
I always describe myself as having misogynist tastes in literature, but that honestly isn't true. It's just a joke, about the world. I like laugh-or-you'll-cry black (political) comedy, powerful (political) observation, and existential (political) nonsense feat. long dark nights of the soul, and obviously many men authors fill these requirements for me. But there are also many, many, many, MANY of these texts made by and about women and I read (and watch and listen to) as many of these as I can get my grubby little hands on. I just heard less about them when I was young, that's the joke. And there's a second, much meaner part of the joke too, which is that worse still, in an increasingly heroified girlboss landscape, which also happens to be one where your consumer choices are your politics, it seems over and over again like I am positioned to either choose to "support" something where women are realized characters and drivers of action but which textwise is as tedious and Whedonny as a bag of rocks, OR to engage with texts where the kinds of things I actually want to think and talk about are discussed but from which women are intentionally alienated. When I get to have things that are both and I drink them down like water in the desert. Munro is but one example (there are honestly so many, like I say, the joke I make about my tastes is just that, a joke about you know, misogyny, in the form of both what I grew up hearing about, and the dumb solution to it of being required to like whatever shiny turd The Mary Sue or whichever has decided is the most feminist movie of the week.) But Munro's a fave, especially since she so consistently writes about the incredibly complex existentiality of women's lives and choices. When to speak, when to stay silent. What's violence even in a whispered voice. What's constraint and what's openness. Idk, a lot more. I fucking love her stories, and she deserved every fuckin' inch of that Nobel Prize.

{ cisgender woman, she/her } ❝ I'm a juvenile product of the working class / whose best friend floats in the bottom of a glass ❞ huh, who’s FIVEL STEWART? no, you’re mistaken, that’s actually MOLLY WEASLEY II. she is a 24 year old HALFBLOOD witch who is a CHASER FOR PUDDLEMERE UNITED. she is known for being FLIGHTY, IMPULSIVE, DISORGANIZED, FORGETFUL, and REBELLIOUS but also TRUSTING, DEDICATED, VIBRANT, ADAPTABLE, and INDEPENDENT, so that must be why she always reminds me of the song GLAZIN’ - JACUZZI BOYS and ROLLER SKATING DOWN A STEEP INCLINE, FOREHEAD KISSES, AN OUT-OF-TUNE ACOUSTIC GUITAR, AN UNMADE BED WITH LOTS OF PILLOWS, CHERRY LIMEADE SLUSHIES, PUTTING ON YOUR FAVORITE SWEATSHIRT. i hear she is aligned with THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX so be sure to keep an eye on her.
BIO
Molly Adelaide Weasley was born into a (relatively) peaceful world but adopted into an ever-growing and infinitely chaotic family - and her father, having had a near-catastrophic falling out with this family in favor of furthering his career, made it CLEAR to her that her status as a Weasley was to be cherished, not derided, never forgone for more ambitious aims. Percy, sometimes rigid, though always loving, threw this lesson in familial love along with his more practical teachings.
Her first real sentence was “Molly do it!”, which was put to excessive use as a toddler. Doing the laundry? “Molly do it!” Her father’s bent over a stack of paperwork with a next-day deadline? Molly’s rushing over to help with a fat, color-changing crayon in hand: “Molly do it!” When Audrey was ill with a stomach bug, Lucy happened upon her sister, barely even three, mashing a ginger root with the handle of Mama’s wand in an attempt to make ginger biscuits. In short, Molly has always been headstrong and maternal. She takes a lot of pride in the traits that she shares with her namesake, her wonderful Gran, but regrettably never learned to knit.
Molly arrived at Hogwarts with a gaggle of cousins who’d already set the tone for who the Weasleys were and how they behaved. She found it difficult to find a life and identity outside of them - and still worries that she’s just another face in the family, unimportant compared to their accomplishments and accolades. Her time in Hufflepuff house passed without any prefect badges, school awards, or major academic achievements — even her five-year stint on the house Quidditch team was marred by the fact that she was always playing against some cousin or close family friend.
Life after Hogwarts has treated Molly well — she’s played professional Quidditch since age 18, something that she still can’t quite believe has happened. She was a reserve Chaser for the Kenmore Kestrels until 2027, when she was offered a contract by Puddlemere United. She took it, because wow that’s a lot of galleons, but Puddlemere’s always had a reputation for producing a lot of (painfully) straight-laced and by-the-book players………..which Molly definitely is not. She’s not allowed to speak at press conferences anymore due to PU’s management dubbing her “a PR nightmare” and “too foul-mouthed for a Dementor to want to Kiss”.
(TW DEATH MENTION) Memories of Uncle Harry pop up nearly every day - his voice, his rough hands positioning her arms and shoulders in a proper dueling stance, the smudges on his glasses, the way he looked at Aunt Ginny like she hung the moon in the sky. She misses him, dearly, but feels selfish and silly for doing so - she wasn’t his kid, and there are so many people who looked to Harry Potter as a symbol for the hope that carried them through wartime. She often worries that she isn’t doing enough - not enough to support her cousins, not enough for the muggleborns she knows and those she does not. There are days in which her inadequacy threatens to swallow her whole, when her hands tremble and breath rattles in her chest - but she’s able to bite it back for the moment. There’s bigger things ahead. (END TW).
PERSONALITY
okay so i always describe molly as a “disaster lesbian” or “chaotic dumbass” and i mean that with a lot of affection. she’s just very much motivated by pleasure and by fun, and much less motivated by duty or responsibility. she wants to stand out in both good and bad ways and more often achieves that in bad ways. she is also, like i mentioned, very headstrong. i consider her one of my funniest characters and that’s mostly unintentional because she just. says whatever pops into her head. i regularly giggle at what i make molly say. i am not ashamed of this.
uhhhh. what else? she’s a big old jock, one of those heinous people who for the most part actually enjoys exercising! will definitely ask you to join her on a sunrise run because she’s Ridiculous
loves her family so so so much, even though there’s at least 3 group chats where she’s currently trashing a cousin or two. is very down to take part in harmless pranks and shenanigans. someone outside the family tries to trash the cousins tho?!?!?! lmao kill bill sirens immediately go off. she and lucy probably call themselves twins bc they’re not blood-related but they are almost always on the same wavelength and in my eyes (jane u can confirm this for me) just get each other on a very fundamental level.
huge fuckin’ aries energy. you can find some personality assessments below:
zodiac.
aries (sun)
“aries is an active, energetic sign. people with sun in aries are direct, straightforward, and uncomplicated. they expect the same from others, and are baffled when they don’t always get it.”
gemini (moon)
“nervousness and worry are common traits with this lunar position. An underlying restlessness is common, and many lunar geminis need more stimulation than others. they usually read a lot, talk a lot, and think a lot.”
mbti. esfj (the consul)
+ strong practical skills, strong sense of duty, sensitive and warm, connects well with others
- inflexible, vulnerable to criticism, reluctant to improvise, needy, worries about social status

hi there everyone! i’m arielle, one of the admins, and this is intro 1/7 for my characters (call me a victim of overexcitement bc i just couldn’t stop bringing characters in!) you can find annette’s stat page here, but i’ll include a little bit under the cut as well as some potential plots or connections!
annette is one of three children born to gabrielle delacour and her husband, henri bardon, making her 1/8 veela. she has a twin sister, natalia, as well as a brother, liam, and various cousins including the delacour side of the weasley family and another cousin, rory, who attends uagadou. she also is (or can be!) fairly close to the other weasleys/potters due to seeing them so much when she was growing up.
annette grew up in france but because of her extensive family living elsewhere, there were a lot of trips to other parts of the world so she’s pretty well traveled?
annette is a huge romantic at heart and likes to believe the best in people which can sometimes get her into trouble. she isn’t stupid by any means but she’d always rather give people the benefit of the doubt and can for sure be at least somewhat susceptible to flattery. that being said, once someone proves themselves as a real friend, her loyalty and love is pretty unshakable. annette has a big heart and is always willing to welcome more people into her life.
she also tends to wear her heart on her sleeve in a lot of respects. she tends to have a pretty optmistic and happy outlook on things, but can be quite the drama queen when someone hurts her feelings or things don’t go her way. i wouldn’t say she’s spoiled, but she can definitely be a bit petulant and childish when she mood strikes her.
CAT LADY EXTRAORDINAIRE. annette’s smuggled her cat, bernard, along for the trip with her because she literally cannot bear the idea of being parted from him for an entire year. so look out for a fluffy fat cat around bc that’s annettes!
a huge fan of rom coms and jane austen as WELL as meddling in the lives of her loved ones—–annette likes to think she’s a modern lizzie bennett, but she’s more of an emma woodhouse, always with the best of intentions of course.
one last thing: annettes rly short (like five feet tall) and she will fight you if you make fun of her for it!
possible connections/plots:
i’m always up for annette having more friends! she loves having movie nights and karaoke nights as well as going out to your usual parties and such, so if you char needs a pal and would like to be friends w/ sunshine personified annette bardon~
annie is a romantic so she’s probably dated around a bit. ex hookups, ex girlfriends, ex boyfriends—–probably nothing too serious but annette is the type to fancy herself in love quite often, though she’s likely to later realize after the fact that it wasn’t.
maybe someone who has a crush on her, or someone she had a crush on at one point? idk unrequited feelings are funny sometimes
ALSO MAYBE SOMEONE who finds her optimism and bubbly personality a bit grating? whether it be someone she’s just met or someone from her own school, not everyone has to get along with her, obviously!
