Hey Tumblr! I'm seeing a slow increase of new users in some of the tags I frequent, so I want to bring up a small reminder: tagging here is not done quite the same as other social media. When you tag a post, you need to only tag things that are directly related to the content in that post. Tagging a bunch of unrelated things will not really get you extra reach, it will only make it worse.
If you post your art and tag it with a bunch of things that are not explicitly in that drawing, it will at best get you blocked by some folks who follow those tags and don't want to see your unrelated posts, and at worst get you reported for spam (as, to the letter of the Community Guidelines, that's what that is). Doing "tag rambles" and leaving comments/sentences is fine and encouraged, but regular tags that are actually in use have to be related to what's in your post or else it is considered spam. So please, make sure you're tagging correctly and you will see a lot more friendly interaction!🙏
#the irony being I can't put this in the tags that i've been seeing do this most. bc the post is not about those things 🪦#ok to reblog#also i've posted abt this separately but do a quick sanity proofread of your tags to check that they did not autofill lol#it is very obvious what happened in most of the fandom tags where I see that flavor of mistagged post show up in#also: read the community guidelines in general!!#I am so sick of the number of blogs I've seen with “block don't report” blog titles because they solely post disallowed content#and then get upset when they have multiple accounts terminated for breaking the content rules
