Pick an OC and gush about why you are excited about them and their story! Be as wordy as you like! Ready... set... go! :-D
sdfgh thank you!! sorry this took me a hot minute to get to! xo
okay this is gonna be hella predictable but i’m picking Cass/From Grace because i have SO. MUCH. TO SAY. I’m mainly excited about writing for her because she’s the most Me oc i’ve made to date and her series has opened up a whole world of fic ideas/opportunities for me to ‘fix’ the mcpoo. I’m able to explore different topics, dynamics, and things that come straight from my soul and it all works for the plot but helps me through a lot. also it gives me an excuse to make an oc for every marvel man AND woman in existence that i find attractive, so i have my own infinity gauntlet of marvel ocs for this (1) fic that started out with (1) oc, and Cass has evolved so much from my original idea/intention for her character. like, so far-
Cass = Loki, Kurt, Pyro, Wanda, Kitty Lori = Colossus (my beloved) Taylor = Deadpool Emery = Andrew’s Spider-Man Sara = Bucky, Steve Aiyla = Sam Wilson Alison = Frank Castle
plus i was able to bring in Romeo so that Iceman didn’t get left out because he deserves his boyfriend dammit. i’m also able to fancast my OWN version of Wanda & Pietro, making them both Romani AND Jewish, with Magneto and Polaris all together as a fam. I changed Pepper and aged up Morgan for Plot. Bruce Banner is from his standalone movie because that Bruce fucks and deserves rights (sorry Mark). Clint actually gets a backstory, he’s deaf, AND Barney exists. not to mention I get to bring out all that Single Dad energy Logan had in the original movies. the Fantastic Four exist and are well known, as they should be. the villains do bad things but the majority of them have good reasons and a personality beyond ‘evil’, and the mcu us government is actually seen as it should be given all of its proclivities.
I basically get to make the mcu what it should have been considering the amount of money funneled into it over the years, and I get to explore myself and my trauma in a healthy way while making Mr. Tomato Soup Can a n@zi in the eyes of literally everyone (as he should be). It’s fun and I love Cass so so much. she’s probably my favorite oc I’ve ever made.

Last Chapter: Violet and Sutan made things official.
This Chapter: All of New York’s fashion elite shows up to Heidi’s Klum’s annual Halloween party. (Seriously. Everyone is in this chapter.)
***
“Go a little higher-” Katya was cut off as the door to Pearl’s room opened.
“Urgh!” Pearl looked up, a mess of grey spiderweb in her long blonde hair and on her hands where she had raised them to protect her face when she had left her room. “What the fuck!”
“Whoops.” Trixie grinned, the cobweb shooter he had been using to decorate in hand.
“Hi Pearl.” Max smiled, waving his hand from where he was standing next to Katya, holding up the string of lights they were attempting to mount on the wall.
“Sorry!” Katya laughed. “I didn’t know you were in there.”
“How does that make this better?” Pearl groaned, peeling the sticky web off of her hands. “I was just taking a nap.”
“We’re very sorry Pearlie girl.” Trixie smiled, reaching out to gently get the web in her hair.
“What are you even doing?”
“It’s a haunted house!” Katya gestured, Halloween decorations covering almost every visible surface. Katya loved Halloween, being allowed to scare her first graders something she looked forward to every year. Over the weekend, Trixie had been working on his own costume when they had started talking about making a miniature haunted house, and it had quickly snowballed into a giant craft project taking over the entire apartment.
There weren’t a lot of kids around them, but the few that had all figured out that Katya and Trixie gave out full sized candy bars for Halloween. And while Katya loved seeing all the little faces light up in delight as she dumped candy into their buckets, the idea of scaring the bejesus out of them first was extremely exciting.
“You’re not planning to use my bedroom for this extravaganza, are you?” Pearl asked skeptically.
“No, don’t worry! We were thinking that we’d cover your doorway in spiders and spiderwebs and have freaky lights and spooky sounds coming from inside.”
“It felt fitting,” Trixie added with a laugh.
“Do you want to help?” Max smiled. He had originally only come over to borrow a bowler hat for his Charlie Chaplin costume, Katya telling him with a grin that he had to remember to keep the hat on unless he wanted to end up looking like Hitler.
“No thanks.”
“Really?” Trixie looked confused for a moment, picking the last piece of web out of her hair. “But you love Halloween!”
“I have to go meet up with Adore.” Pearl shrugged, reaching behind Max to grab her jacket. “She wanted to look at costumes together so we can coordinate.”
“Awh,” Katya grinned, Pearl shooting her a sharp look. “That’s adorable.”
“Okay mom.” Pearl almost seemed like she was annoyed, but Katya could see in her eyes that she took the tease for what it was.
“I think it’s nice.” Trixie loaded the cobweb shooter. “It’s cute that you like someone.”
“Yeah, well…” Pearl mumbled something unintelligible as she slung a bag over her shoulder.
“What was that?”
“I said she’s the cute one!” Pearl exclaimed, and when all three of them began ‘aww’ing again, she immediately left, giving them exaggerated eye rolls.
“A couple’s costume?” Trixie said, pressing a hand to his heart as he sank down onto the sofa, eyes shining. “You think it’s getting serious?”
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. It’s still Pearl,” Katya told him, pressing a kiss to the top of his head.

“Fame?” Patrick called out, closing the door behind him. He wasn’t sure if his wife was home yet, but the light was on, a Birkin on their entrance table.
“Up here!”
Patrick smiled to himself, Fame’s voice traveling down from upstairs. If he knew her right, she was probably sitting at her desk, going through whatever creative she hadn’t had time to look at at the office.
“I’ll be right down! Our costumes finally came!”
Patrick grinned, the sound of a computer closing and Charles perking up coming from upstairs. In reality, Patrick would have been fine with something from a boutique, or even no costume at all, but Fame had never been able to resist going all out, least of all for Halloween, and he found it charming enough to play along happily. Patrick loved his wife, had since he saw her for the first time, but she was also wonderfully, insanely extra.
Patrick watched as his wife came down the stairs in a flurry of white, a cape draped over her shoulders, her hair still in the delicate updo she had twisted it into that morning, their dog right behind her.
“I’m so glad they arrived in time!” Fame smiled as she opened the hallway closet, pulling out two garment bags.
“Hey boy.” Patrick smiled, scratching Charles' head, the dog nudging against his hand once before walking away when he realized that Patrick didn’t have any treats and that there was no promise of a walk on the horisont.
“You’re going to love them this year.” Fame grinned, unzipping one of the bags.
“Let me guess,” Patrick took a step forward, the dress a stunning golden piece with feathers. “Are you-”
“It’s Cleopatra!” Fame pulled the dress out. “1963.” Fame smiled brightly, the detail of the gown beyond decadent for a Halloween party, even if it was Heidi Klum’s.
“Ah.” Patrick smiled. “Of course, and who will I be then?”
It wasn’t that Patrick didn’t care, but he hadn’t actually been aware that he was going to that specific party until he had checked his shared calendar, Fame more often than not completely in charge of their social life.
It was how Patrick liked it, and since all of their friends would be there, he had found no reason to complain.
“How can you even ask?” Fame chuckled, opening the second bag. “You’ll be my adored consort, Mark Antony.”
“Of course,” Patrick chuckled, pressing a kiss to her temple.
***
“I’m so so sorry-”
“There’s no need to be embarrassed. I’m only your boss when we’re at work, cutie.” Raven grinned as she heard Raja’s silky smooth voice, a clear hint of delight in the deep tone, Sutan chiming in from the front seat.
“Don’t call her that.”
They had just picked up Violet on their way to Heidi Klum’s Halloween party, Raja and herself in the back, while Sutan had taken a seat in the front with their driver, which was why they were even in this situation.
Violet had opened the door to the car, saying hi as she slipped in and placed a quick kiss on the cheek of the tall, mustached, suit-clad person in the middle seat. What Violet hadn’t noticed, until her lips had been pressed against skin, was the fact that it was not actually Sutan, but instead Raja, dressed up as Groucho Max.
“I swear I didn’t mean-” There was a hint of panic in Violet’s voice, the woman dressed up as Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the jewels on her neck clearly fake, but Raven guessed that it was only Halloween once a year, and Violet didn’t seem like the diamond type.
“Don’t worry,” Raja grinned, leaning back in her seat. “I rather liked it.”
“Raj-” Sutan turned his head, looking back at them. “Please.”
Raven had to bite her lip not to snicker, her corset digging into her hips. She knew Raja was only doing this to mess with Sutan, and it worked perfectly, the normally so cool, calm and collected man looking genuinely distressed.
“Scared I’ll steal your girlfriend?” Raja wiggled her brows, her fake mustache moving as she put an arm around the back of Violet’s seat, the other woman sitting completely straight, her hands in her lap.
“Hey!” Raven turned her head, a flash of jealousy washing over her, causing Sutan to laugh. “Don’t even think about it.”
“Awh,” Raja smiled, letting go of Violet. It was one of the weirdest things about Raja. Somehow, she seemed to genuinely like whenever Raven acted possessive, and if Raven had decked a girl here and there, or torn out an earring or two, that was no one's business but theirs.
“Princess.” Raja put a hand on her dress, the red sequined fabric probably scratchy to the touch. “You know,” Raja leaned in, “You’re the only one for me.”
“Oh god.” Sutan groaned. “Here we go again.”
The mustache felt weird as Raja kissed her, but Raven still put an arm around her neck, holding her close.
“Please tell me we’re almost there.”
Raven flipped Sutan off, making him laugh, her engagement ring almost getting tangled up in Raja’s wig.

“Ugh, I feel like such a basic bitch,” Courtney whined.
“That’s cause you are!” Morgan said, making Tyra laugh.
Courtney whimpered, looking around at the crowd outside Heidi Klum’s party. They were waiting for Adore to let them in, and she was rapidly losing confidence. She’d gone all-out on a Marilyn Monroe costume to fit the party’s “Old Hollywood Glamor” theme, even getting advice from her drag queen brother in Sydney (who did Marilyn regularly as part of his act), and of course, she’d already seen about 4 other girls with the same idea.
“Okay, but come on, you’re definitely gonna be the best Marilyn here,” Tati assured her.
“Easy for you to say,” Courtney said. “You actually had an original idea.”
Tati was dressed as Jeannie from the classic TV show, in a costume that showed off her gorgeous body to perfection. Courtney couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous, wishing that her own costume was more creative. If there was one thing she couldn’t stand, it was being just another generic blonde--especially at a chic event like this. She also probably needed to admit to herself that a big part of her nerves came from being in this kind of crowd again, possibly running into her boss.
“Happy Halloween, bitches!” came Adore’s voice, and they all turned around to see her sauntering down the sidewalk in a tailored pinstripe suit, Pearl on her arm in a pencil skirt and beret.
They were the hottest Bonnie and Clyde that Courtney had ever seen. Ugh, everyone was killing it and it made her feel even less worthy of being at the party in the first place.
“You guys look amazing!” Tyra exclaimed, and Adore grinned.
“Thanks, we know.” Adore gave them a sassy wink, a hand on Pearl’s lower back guiding her forward to the bouncer, where she waved her invite and then grandly beckoned the whole group inside.

“Ivy!” Jinkx’ face lit up with delight. She wasn’t expecting to see her beautiful crush tonight, but it was a wonderful surprise. Her costume was as adorable as she was, a cute and fashionable nod to Judy Garland in The Pirate when she sang “Be a Clown,” something that Jinkx knew very well that not many people would appreciate. “Hi! You look absolutely incredible!”
“Hi Ms. Mon-sorry, Jinkx,” Ivy giggled, tucking a lock of red hair behind her ear. “You don’t look so bad yourself. I guess you’re my daughter tonight, eh?”
Jinkx laughed as Ivy gestured to her Liza costume, shrugging and saying, “I guess so, Mama...wait no, that’s weird. You must be at least 5 years younger than me. Forget I said that. Please.”
“Consider it forgotten,” Ivy grinned again, asking, “So how have you been?”
“I’m good, I’m good. I’m so glad to see you, I didn’t know you’d be here,” Jinkx took Ivy’s offered hug, squeezing her tightly but being sure to release her quickly, lest it get awkward.
“Oh yeah, well, my boyfriend works at Vogue and his boss couldn’t make it, so he gave us the tickets.”
Jinkx felt her world shatter at the words that had just left Ivy’s mouth. Boyfriend? What was going on?
“Boyfriend? You have a boyfriend?”
“Yes, his name is Keith. We’ve been together for years, he’s over there by the bar.” Ivy waved happily to what Jinkx was sure was a lovely man in a coordinating costume.
“Right,” Jinkx nodded, because what else was she supposed to do? She only hoped that her face didn’t show how absolutely crestfallen she was.
“Actually, I was trying to remember that book you recommended because he’s super into local food too, but I couldn’t remember the title.”
“Oh, um…” Jinkx swallowed, suddenly wishing she was anywhere but here. “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle.”
“Right! Thank you. Sorry, I’m such an airhead when I don’t write things down.”
Jinkx could see Keith approaching them now, two glasses of beer in his hands.
“It was so great to see you, but I really have to run. I was on my way to the bathroom, so-”
“Oh gosh, sorry!” Ivy smiled again, that beautiful smile, and gave her one more quick hug. “Find us later and we can talk some more!”
“Of course, sure! Bye, Ivy!” Jinkx turned towards the restrooms, hoping she could make it into a stall before her stupid tears started to fall.

Courtney peeked around a column, the butterflies her stomach going crazy when she spotted Bianca walking away from the bar with a couple of drinks, looking exactly as glamorous as expected in a deep blue silk wrap dress. She bit her lip, trying to gather the nerve to go say hello, when she realized that Bianca wasn’t alone, handing one of the drinks to a tall, absolutely stunning young woman--obviously a model.
To add insult to injury, the girl was also dressed as Marilyn, but her costume was a perfectly tailored version of the low-cut, high-slitted red sequined dress from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. It fit her lithe, willowy frame like a glove, and made Courtney all too aware of how out of place she was, in a cheap polyester version of Marilyn’s infamous white dress, the fake tits and hip pads that her brother had insisted she wear now feeling totally ridiculous and clownish.
As Bianca and her lady friend strolled forward, laughing and chatting, Courtney made sure to stay out of sight behind the column, heart sinking, squeezing her eyes shut, feeling like a creepy little stalker.
“There you are.”
The voice behind her nearly made her jump out of her skin, and she whirled around to face Tyra with a guilty flush rising to her cheeks.
“What are you doing skulking over here all by yourself?” asked Tyra, a hand on her hip, lips pursed in judgment.
“Nothing. Why?”
“I need another drink,” Tyra said. “Come on.”
She grabbed Courtney’s hand and pulled her towards the bar. Courtney followed, sighing, wishing she wasn’t such a chicken-shit baby.

“Hey.” Alaska nudged Jinkx with her shoulder. “What’s wrong?”
They were perched on a couple of bar stools, Alaska looking cute as anything in classic Katharine Hepburn menswear, a look of concern on her face. Jinkx shook her head, feeling like an idiot for going so far down the hopeless crush rabbit hole with Ivy without even knowing whether she was single.
“Nothing, I’m just stupid.”
“Well, you’re definitely not that.” Alaska took a sip of her sparkling water.
“You give me too much credit,” Jinkx said with a sigh. “I’m sorry. I’m being so lame. Let’s go dance.”
She began to slide off the stool, but Alaska stopped her with a hand on her shoulder.
“We can dance, but first tell me what’s going on. Please,” Alaska smiled. “Maybe I can help.”
“I don’t deserve a friend like you, Lasky,” Jinkx said, lowering her head pitifully to the table. She had spent so much time going on and on about Ivy for over a month. It was shocking, actually, that Alaska still wanted to spend time with her at all. She must have been insufferable.
“Jinkx.”
Her voice was so soft and warm, it almost made Jinkx feel like crying again. She thought she’d gotten it all out in the bathroom earlier, but apparently not.
“I saw Ivy tonight,” Jinkx admitted, blinking fast to try and get rid of her tears. “Did you know she has a boyfriend? A serious boyfriend? I feel so fucking dumb for never-”
Alaska’s eyes had widened in surprise. This was clearly news to her too, which made Jinkx feel a tiny bit better.
“Jinkx, I’m so-” Alaska took her hand, grasping it tightly. “I’m so sorry. I know I was supposed to ask around about her, and things have been busy and I just-”
“It’s not your fault! Omigod, please don’t apologize.” Jinkx squeezed Alaska’s hand.
“But I promised you, and I never-”
“I’m glad you didn’t!” Jinkx shook her head. “Look, it’s a bummer, I guess, and I’ll probably be a mopey asshole for awhile, but I’m glad I found out before I totally embarrassed myself.”
“Anything I can do?” Alaska asked, eyes still soft and sympathetic.
“You can dance with me,” Jinkx said.
“You got it.”
Jinkx giggled, a mischievous smile spreading across her face as Alaska offered her arm and led her towards the dance floor.

“Come on!” Juju pulled on her husband's hand, trying to get him to walk faster through the crowd. It had taken forever to get the twins to bed after they had gone trick or treating, Julia and Owen beyond high on the sugar rush after Detox had allowed them to go ham in their Halloween buckets.
“But I want a drink-” Detox whined, and Juju almost rolled her eyes.
“You promised.” Juju looked over her shoulder, “Remember?”
“Right.” Detox smiled, pulling her in to press a kiss against her cheek.
“Ew!” Juju laughed, pushing him away, not willing to risk his orange makeup rubbing off on her face.
At first, when Detox had presented the ideas for their Halloween costumes, Juju had refused to dye his hair Oompa Loompa green, but once her husband made up his mind, it was nearly impossible to change it.
“Ah! Fame!” Juju waved as she spotted her friend, Fame’s hair covered by a stunning golden headdress.
“Juju!” Fame smiled, holding her arms out. “You made it!”
“Sorry we’re late.” Juju grinned. She had given her oldest a wad of cash before they left, Juju making sure that Kelly put it in her bra as a just in case, before she left for whatever high school students did these days.
As always, Juju’s friends had gathered in a corner, Fame almost allergic to open areas at parties. She spotted someone had to be Raja on the couch, making out with Raven, Detox already off to talk with Patrick.
“Juju!” Sutan smiled brightly, his new girlfriend sitting besides him. Juju had almost not believed it when she had read Raven’s text, her best friend swearing up and down that they were officially official. “It’s so good to see you.”
“Same,” Juju grinned, leaning into his hug Sutan got up to give her. “And who are you supposed to be?” Juju looked up and down, Sutan wearing a gray suit with a gray tie and a white shirt. “You decided to come as yourself? That’s real creative.”
“No!” Sutan huffed, sounding almost offended. “Look!” He reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a pair of sunglasses and putting them on before he threw his arms out. “See!”
“Oh wow.” Juju drawled. “You’re yourself on a sunny day?”
“Please,” Sutan tipped the glasses down, “I’m Cary Grant. From North by Northwest.”
“Sure.” Juju smiled. She still didn’t believe that Sutan was actually dressed up, but it wasn’t his fault that Raja had gotten all the creativity. “Whatever you say, peaches.”
Sutan laughed, taking the sunglasses off again. “At least I’m not dressed as whatever the fuck-” Sutan pointed with the glasses, before putting them back in his pocket. “Your husband is supposed to be.”
“He’s an Oompah Loompah.” It sounded stupid even now, but it was what Juju had promised him when they’d gotten married, support in both good times and bad. “Duh.”
“Cheers bro!” Detox grinned, raising a glass. Juju had no idea where he had gotten it, the brown liquid unmistakably alcohol. That damn liar.
“Listen, does it surprise you that these two have the weirdest costumes?” Bianca slid up next to them, putting her arm around Juju’s shoulders. “It’s very on brand for them,” Bianca smiled, taking a sip of her drink. “Don’t you think?”
“Thanks, Daddy,” Juju chuckled, tugging on the white Peter Pan collar of her Veruca Salt costume and fluffing her pigtails.
“Hey,” Detox appeared at her side, Juju’s annoyance dying down immediately when she saw the glass of ginger ale that Detox was holding for her. “We just like to have fun.”
Juju took the drink, taking a sip of it, nose wrinkling. She was nearly halfway through this latest surprise pregnancy, and she was already sick of it. Her only consolation was the fact that Detox had finally agreed to a vasectomy, so there would be no more precious little accidents in the Sanderson household. Juju absolutely adored her children, but with a full-time job, a precocious teenager and 3 year old twins, she had her hands full and then some.
On the other hand...she was looking forward to that new baby smell. She rubbed her slightly swollen bump thoughtfully, and considered the fact that since this would be her last pregnancy, she may as well enjoy it. Even if a shot of tequila would be amazing on a night like tonight.
“Juju!”
Juju turned her head to see that Raven had finally pulled herself away from her makeout session with Raja, her still red lipstick annoyingly pristine.
“Look at you!” Juju threw out her arms. Raven was dressed like the only Jessica Rabbit, waist cinched tighter than Juju had ever seen, and of course her tits looking beyond amazing.
“Holy shit!” Juju reached out, grabbing the left tit. “How did you do this?”
“Custom made breastplate.” Raven grinned, pushing her red wig over her shoulder. “Doesn’t it look fan-fucking-tastic? I almost want to get a boob job.”
“As long as they look like this!” Juju laughed.
“Did you hear that Raj?” Raven yelled over her shoulder. “Juju thinks I should get a boob job!”
“Not the one against it!” Raja raised her drink, a smile on her face. “Ask the warden.”
Raven turned quickly to Sutan with a pointed look.
“How am I the villain here?” Sutan looked around.
“The people want boobs.” Juju snickered, leaning her face against Raven’s fake breasts. “You should give us the boobs.”
“I’ll make sure to inform the houses that porn star tits are in high fashion style.” Sutan rolled his eyes, but he was still smiling.
***
Kissing Pearl made Adore feel high.
Well, she was high, but kissing Pearl made it even better. Especially tonight, her girlfriend looking all luscious and feminine with her demure little skirt and glossy, cherry-red lips. All Adore wanted was to eat her up. They danced close together, and Adore couldn’t help hold her close, couldn’t stop her hands from roaming all over her.
She knew that people were watching them, could feel their eyes, and it made things even better. She moved her mouth to Pearl’s neck, letting her perfume wash over her as she sucked at her pulse point, hands squeezing her ass roughly.
Why not give ‘em a show?
***
“Raven!” Violet bit back a giggle as she made sure Raven didn’t fall, their fingers tightly clasped together. “Watch out!” They had gone to the bathroom together, Raven whining that she needed someone to help her with her dress. “You’re like a baby giraffe.”
“As if,” Raven snorted, her cheeks pink, a light in her eyes. “I’m a model.”
“Okay.” Violet smiled, shaking her head as they made their way across the floor. Violet was pleasantly tipsy, her body light and tingly with the alcohol in her blood. The party was a lot more fun than she had ever expected it would be, all the different costumes a joy to look at.
Violet was just looking around, taking in a man who had chosen to arrive on stilts for some reason, when she spotted an incredibly familiar face, the green eyes ones she had sat across from for months.
“Courtney!” Violet exclaimed, suddenly realizing that she actually almost missed the blonde.
“Violet! Hi!” Courtney smiled brightly, her entire energy like an overexcited puppy. Violet felt Raven let go of her hand, the other woman throwing herself at Adore who caught her with a laugh.
“You look-” Violet glanced down at Courtney’s costume. “... Did you get a boob job?”
“What?” Courtney looked down at herself. “No!” Courtney laughed, grabbing her own chest. “No, no these are fake.”
“Huh.” Violet bit her lip, the padded bra looking almost disturbingly real to her tipsy mind. “Good. You’re pretty with your own breasts.”
Courtney grinned, lashes fluttering as she said, “Well, thanks for noticing, Violet.”
Violet smiled back, shaking her head. It was like she had never found Courtney annoying at all, the blonde just a beacon of good vibes. She tried to remember the last time she’d even seen her at work, when something popped into her head.
“Wait. Wait wait wait.” Violet reached out, grabbing Courtney’s wrist. “What happened with that dress?”
Courtney looked puzzled, her head tilted in confusion. “What dress?”
“The dress for Fame?” Violet still remembered vividly how stressed Courtney had looked. “With the golden pockets?”
“Ohh, that.” Courtney waved her hand. “She looked at it for a few seconds and then demanded eight more unrelated things. The usual.”
A giggle bubbled up from Violet’s chest. Now that she wasn’t working in Miss Fame’s office anymore, she was allowed to find Courtney’s irreverence a little bit amusing.
“Courtneyyyyy come get shots with us!”
The most beautiful girl Violet had ever seen in her life suddenly appeared, tugging on Courtney’s arm. Violet’s eyes barely knew where to land, taking in her wide brown eyes and full lips, the pink and gold of her costume making her tan skin glow.
“Violet, have you ever met my friend Tati?” Courtney asked, and Violet blinked, reaching out her hand.
“Wow. You’re…” Violet swallowed. “Beautiful.” She instantly felt her cheeks heat up, a terrible blush no doubt blooming on her cheeks. Violet wanted to throw herself out the window, the whole thing terribly embarrassing, but thankfully, the angel just laughed.
“Hi,” Tati smiled. “You should come get shots with us!”
“Um. I have to…” Violet tried to force her brain, tried to remember how to be a human being. “I have to…” Violet turned around, leaving without another word in a desperate attempt not to make more of a fool of herself.
This.
This was exactly why she didn’t have friends.

artist claims
sorry for the delay, there’s some personal drama taking up my time to blame here & also a small bit of classic procrastination. but here we are, with ARTIST CLAIMS.
here’s how this works!
i’m gonna put a list of fics below the read more line, and they’re all numbered, but do not have author names on them. your job is to pick your favorite 3 fics, and then enter their numbers into this form. that’s it! a fic may end up with multiple artists, and we may do a round 2 for any unclaimed fics.
here we go!

The only place that provides her solace is her favorite place behind the school, and one day, she stumbles upon someone there—Richard Goranski, a guy who loves poetry and literature as much as she does, and is also struggling with an unrequited love. Hanging out with him revives her will to create poetry, and together they learn how to cope with their problems. Unfortunately, things also get a whole lot more complicated, and Brooke realizes that perhaps that's how beautiful tragedies were written—they were experienced first.

Cuts & Bruises
Chapter 1: Red, Bandages, and Pills
Okay so brief little announcement, hi, yes, I’m the author behind the Septic Ego fic Cuts & Bruises! It’s about time I upload it here, so here we go!
TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR THIS CHAPTER: Alcohol Abuse, Suicidal Thoughts, Depression, Self Harm, Blood, Death
Summary of Cuts & Bruises: Chase, struggling with his alcoholism and depression, tries to find a new way to get rid of the pain. Little does he know that this minor change will cause the downfall of the Septic Egos.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chase trudged back into his rental apartment and flopped down onto a barstool along his kitchen, rubbing his eyes. His filming day for his next trick shot video didn’t go as planned, and by the time he went to go edit it he could already tell it was trash.
Why was his stuff already becoming so pathetic? His first video was a success: the fans loved his work! It shouldn’t be too hard to make something new, everyone already loved him for his personality alone.
But now everything just didn’t seem right. Nothing was better, he wasn’t getting better, anything wasn’t getting better. He wasn’t getting any income to keep his rental afloat, Stacy was getting stricter on letting him see the kids, and his work was getting more terrible by the minute.
Depressed enough with himself by this point, he got off the stool and made his way to his fridge. He swung it open with a lot of force and found himself face to face with a lot of beer bottles, a good majority unopened. He quickly grabbed two with one hand, grabbing by the throat of the bottles, and swung himself back over to the bar as the fridge closed.
As he sat down he quickly opened up the one and starting chugging it down, not going to savor the bitterness of the alcoholic drink. He just needed to drink the pain away, that’s all he needed to do. First he found himself completing the first bottle, then shortly the next. Then three more. Then five more. He laughed at his tipsy state. A couple more. He found himself giggling like a crazy person. Was he going crazy? No, right? But he could still feel that pain in the back of his head. More booze wasn’t going to stop this.
Slowly and clumsily he walked over to a drawer and pulled it open. There he found a collection of silverware he used, but after a couple a seconds he found it. He giggled and pulled out a larger knife, and trudged himself to the bathroom.
He stood overtop his modern-looking sink, a drunken and crazed smile on his face, a glazed look in his eyes, hunched over looking at the knife in his right fist. He then looked up into the mirror plastered onto the wall, and slowly lifting his fist up he let the cuts well over his left arm. First one, then two. Then two more. Then four more. He lost count. Blood dripped into the sink, onto the floor. Then the other arm. Over, and over, and over again. He stared at his work and laughed, the pain dying. He looked back up to himself in the mirror and swore his eyes turned green. Just drunken hallucinations he told himself. He swung his arms around, satisfied, and heard a bottle hit the floor. He turned back around and just saw it was his depression pills, to which he just shrugged. On the floor now, useless, spilled all over just like his thoughts. With a high pitched giggle, he walked out.
He then found himself collapsing onto his bed, his open cuts undressed.
~~~
Chase woke up to the sound of an alarm clock blaring very rudely in his ear. Did people still use alarm clocks anymore? He shook the thought away and sat up right, and the first sight he saw was his arms. He cursed silently, wondering why he did this to himself. Then he did the same, wincing at his hangover causing his headache.
Slowly rising out of bed, he picked up his signature cap that had fallen onto the floor and made his way to his closet. He quickly changed his shirt into a black graphic design shirt with small stars, and then staring at his arms he decided to throw on a hoodie as well. It was a royal blue J!NX Game Over zip hoodie, the same company that his hat came from. The company gave it to him after his video came out, thanking him for the promotion of their clothing line. He disposed of his original very dark gray shirt into a corner, and quickly changed his black-ripped pants into another fresh set from his drawer, except this one had some slight bleach marks due to a laundry incident.
Happy with his hidden up look, he decided to finally dress up the wounds on his arms. He made his way to the bathroom and rolled his sleeves up, then found some rolled up bandages and went to work. With quick pace, he was finished and quickly rolled the sleeves back down. He then heard his doorbell ring.
“Coming!” shouted Chase, and quickly dashed for the door before passing the bar. He cursed silently and quickly grabbed all the bottles and stuffed them back into the fridge, and then opened the door. Standing there was the good doctor himself.
“Henrik!” Chase exclaimed, then winced as the light burned his eyes. “Oh geez, sorry. What are you doing here?”
Henrik cocked his head in confusion. “I’ve come to pick you up. Remember? Vee planned to hang out vit zee others today.” He straightens his lab coat and adjusts his turtleneck, something he started wearing after the incident with Anti. “I figured it might be best if you vere drinking last night.” He adds with a quick sniff. “Seems I vas right.”
“Oh, right, duh, sorry! Let’s get going then, right?” Chase says in a chipper tone.
Henrik nods and pats his friend’s back as they walk towards the good doctor’s car. “Yes, vee shall.” Once they’re in the car, Henrik mentions, “Nice hoodie by zee vay. It suits you vell.”
Chase nods in agreement and laughs a bit as the car takes off. “You think so? I might try wearing it in some future videos.” But on the inside he’s kicking himself over and over again, hiding his pain and scars like a coward. “By the way, I might need some more an-“ he cuts himself off. “Depression pills.” He decides to say instead, not trying to mention the cursed “A” word. “I can’t seem to find them anywhere.” He lies, not willing to admit he had spilled them all over the floor in a drunken haze.
Henrik makes a turn and briefly glances over at his friend in the passenger seat. “Really?” He tuts. Chase shrugs, to which the German sighs and pushes his glasses up on his nose. “Very vell.” He smiles instead. “How are Stacy and zee kids?”
Chase sighs and lets his head hit the back of the seat. He sinks down and rubs his eyes again. “It’s alright, I guess. The kids seems to be doing fine. Grey is starting fourth grade soon which is exciting, and apparently he’s taken up basketball lessons. Sammy will soon be going into first, and all she talks about is apparently me.” Chase finds himself smiling. “Stacy isn’t proud of that obviously. She’s gotten stricter on letting me see them, I don’t know why.”
“Hmm.” Henrik thinks aloud as he pulls to a stop. “Zhat is very strange.” He then shrugs. “As long as zee kids are happy, I guess.” The light turns green and he starts again.
Chase nods. “Yeah, I guess so.” He then looks over to the doctor and sits back up. “How about you? How’s your wife and daughter?”
Henrik smiles, trying his best not to laugh, another side effect of his possession encounter. “Ahh, zhey are doing just fine. Maria is now dedicating her full time into looking after Sally, but zhat’s what she says. Turns out she ended up cutting herself on a rock when she was climbing some near our house.” Chase flinches at the word “cutting,” but he does his best to stifle it as just a quick shudder. “Scared the sheisse out of me. Had to patch her back up, thankfully it vasn’t deep.”
“Thankfully that was nothing serious!” Chase remarks with a fake smile. “It would be a shame if little Sal got terribly hurt.” Again Chase was kicking himself mentally. He had no right to say something like that when he was guilty of it. He stuffs his hands into the pockets of the hoodie and quietly huffs to himself. “So where are we going again?” Chase asks.
Henrik shakes his head and stops the car, parking it. “Is your hangover zhat bad?” He pulls out some Gatorade and some cereal bars. “As bad as it is, electrolytes help. Also sweets. Drink up quickly, ve’re going bowling.” He steps out of the car after handing him the items and slams it shut. Chase’s head rings, and he swears he can hear laughter outside the car. He self consciously itches at the bandages, then realizes what he’s doing and stops. Following Henrik’s advice he chomps down on the bars and swings down some of the sports drink. He stuffs whatever he doesn’t finish in the pockets of his hoodie and realizes the time: two o’clock. Had he slept that long?
~~~
“STRIKE AGAIN BABY!” Jackie announces with a fist pump, and the rest of the Egos groan, except Jamie, who just throws his head back and arms up in exaggeration. “Guess who’s gonna get that bet money after all!!!” He points towards the others as the pins behind him are automatically reset. He plops into the seat next to Marvin, wearing some ripped jeans and a red Spider-Man hoodie, his casual wear. Marvin ruffles the hero-in-disguise’s hair as he sits down, trying to shut him up.
“Alright alright we get it JB, sheesh.” Marvin retorts, and stands to go next. He takes a quick glance at the scoreboard, noticing they’re on the seventh round. Jackie had 67 points, Marvin with 53, Jamie with 46, Henrik with 59, and Chase with 51. Marvin picks up a shiny blue ball, and goes to wind up his arm. It was weird not seeing him with his cape and cat mask in public, just his regular blue dress shirt and black pants, but it’s not like they wanted to show off themselves today. Today they were just brothers, in a way, hanging out and having fun.
Chase was glad to be here with the others, as his mood was already lifted. He was drinking water to help his hangover even more, and found it was dulling really quickly. He just needed some more food in him. “I’ll be right back guys, gonna go grab some food.” Chase says, and with a tip of his hat stands up and goes to find a vending machine.
Thankfully he finds one really quickly, filled to the brim with candy and chips. He eyes a particularly big M&M’s bag, and decides that. “I need sugar after all, sweets help according to zee great doctah.” Chase says to himself, mocking the German’s accent at the last part. As he pays and watches the candy drop down, he sees a brief reflection of himself and yelps in fright. He sees himself, but his eyes flashed green and he smiled wickedly at an almost inhuman rate before going to normal, almost like a… His train of thought is interrupted when the bag of candy hits the bottom, and he snatches it up fast and walks away, spooked.
He sits down in his seat which was between the doctor and the mute man, but he looks up to see that Henrik is up, Marvin now up to 62 and Jamie up to 53. He opens up the M&M’s and pops a few into his mouth, then turns the bag to Jamie. “You want some JJ?” Chase asks politely. Jamie shakes his head, but tips his own hat in thanks. “Alrighty, whatever ya say mustache!” Chase teases, to which JJ mimes a laugh following with wiggling his mustache.
“FICK!” Henrik swears as he stomps the ground with a huff. Everyone looks up to the board to see he rolled a gutter, which makes Marvin chuckle. Henrik’s score, 61. “Zis game is RIGGED!” He shouts as he drops down into his seat. He fiddles with his turtleneck and pats Chase’s arm. “Your turn Brody.”
“Oh you shush I’m in last Schneep!” Chase laughs at Henrik’s huffiness. He picks up the bowling ball, a really shiny green one, and pauses when he looks at it. He can see his reflection again, and what he sees makes his blood go cold.
It’s him again, but his eyes are pitch black, red tears flowing down his cheeks, blood. He’s grinning with an unnatural happiness, his teeth sharp and unusually white. His reflection points at him, then with the same finger drags it along his neck, opening the signature cut.
Chase finally comes to his senses and screams, dropping the ball onto the ground. His feet quickly dodge it and it drops straight into the wooden paneling, making a noticeable dent. The others rush to him, worried.
“Chase?”
“Vhat’s vrong?!”
“Come on buddy, speak to us!”
Jamie quickly signs, asking if he’s okay.
All of his friends’ voices swirl in his head, and he feels his body start to shake. He grips his hand above his heart and starts to breathe heavily. He can’t take it: they’re too close, voices are too loud, everyone is watching. Eyes. Watching. All. Are. Watching.
Henrik grabs Chase’s shoulders and shakes him, and when their eyes meet Chase can swear the room is swirling. “Henrik, I need to leave.” Is all Chase can say, before his body starts to shake even more violently. He wants to expose his cuts and itch them open, they’re burning so badly. Eyes are staring into his soul. The floor is sinking him in, he can’t think, he can’t move, he can’t breathe.
Henrik quickly nods and grabs his hand and drags him back to his car with a quick wave of goodbyes to the others and sorry’s. They both get in and with a quick start up they drive off back to Chase’s apartment. Chase’s panic attack is already starting to calm down. He’s decided to not look at any of the other mirrors or possible reflectors and focus on his breathing. He’s still shaking and his arms feel like they’re on fire. However, Henrik doesn’t seem mad at all, and with a quick press of a button he plays some relaxing music. “Made zhis after mein incident.” Chase let’s the sounds fill his ears and sinks down, trying to relax. He closes his eyes for the rest of the trip and once they’re back, Henrik lightly taps his shoulder. Chase quickly gets out of the car before quickly hugging his friend and thanking him.
His hand fiddles with the door knob but once he’s inside he locks the door and runs back into the bathroom. He takes off his hoodie and looks back at the mirror, and his image keeps flickering between himself and “himself.”
“What’s wrong with me?!” Chase screams, and then his body shudders and lets out a high pitched giggle. His voice doesn’t come out the same.
“Isn’t it obvious, our f̶av̵͏̶o҉̨r͘i͘͡t̷̕͢e̸̛ ̵b̵̛ó͢y̛̕?! You led yourself to your own D̢́E̸̴̢̢̨M͘͜͏I̵̴͟͢͞Ş͝͡E̴̡.” His voice is filled with static and changes in pitch. His arms rise up, and his eyes see the bandages.
“Such a shame I can’t play the d̨҉ép̴͝r̶͝͝e̸s͡séd̶̡ any longer… But you’ve given my position away, and that needs to be F͏Ì̕͢X̕͜͜͞͡E҉̶̨͡D̨̨́͢.”
Then Chase feels his body fully taken over, and Anti laughs as he takes full control. He rips the bandages off of his arms, and quickly grabs the knife that was left there the previous night, stained red with dried blood. He then goes hacking away, red draining from his skin. His body stumbles around, life draining. Everything, draining. He keeps laughing, and keeps cutting away at other locations at his skin. And to finish it off, he pulls off his signature sign, and slices it deep across his neck.
Chase’s body dies and falls to the ground, among the red, bandages, and pills.
WHUMPVEMBER #29: CAREGIVER
fluffy nonsense for the second-to-last-whumpvember-fic AO3
“I agree,” Peter said, nodding at Morgan, who was busy sucking her thumb and staring wide-eyed up at him. “Cosmological perturbations grow according to the Mészáros Effect until the onset of nonlinearity.” Morgan, not one-year-old, blinked and Peter laughed. “Now if only that made sense in English.”
He poked her lightly in the belly, watching her giggle; eyes a bright, lively brown and hair curly and pale. She was laid back on the sofa at Peter and May’s apartment, her toys and supplies strewn across the floor and coffee table as the baby TV channel played in the background; bright colours and large letters appearing on screen with overly friendly hosts.
Peter babysat Morgan pretty often by this point. He was Tony and Pepper’s go-to, partially because they trusted him and partially because he loved babysitting the girl his little sister. Usually, he’d babysit at the tower or compound, depending on where Tony was living that week, but for once she’d been dropped off in Queens; a last-minute gig when Morgan’s parents were called suddenly to an all-day emergency meeting upon one of their (now former) employees going a little Mad Scientist and trying to blow up the Empire State Building.
(“Hey, Pete?
“Yeah, Tony?”
“How busy are you today?”
“Uh, not very? I mean, I was planning on doing some assignment work, but-”
“That’s great, that’s great. Would you mind looking after Morgan? We can drop her off, but we’ve both been called in-”
“Of course I can! What time do you need me?”
“Uh, in about five seconds- yeah, yeah, we’re outside right now. Hear that horn? That’s us. Please come get the child. She didn’t like the horn and now she’s crying.”)
So, Peter was babysitting, which was great, but also a little bit of a fork in the works of his plan. Originally, he was going to write his assignments for class and then Spiderman around the city for a while. Now – well, he could do the assignment work, mostly, but Spiderman would have to wait until tomorrow.
Morgan giggled and pulled her thumb from her mouth, pushing herself up to grab Peter’s hand with her soggy one. Peter pulled a face that made her laugh, then made a few garbled sounds that made no sense to him.
“Yes, that’s right,” he said anyway. “We do get seasons because the Earth is tilted 23.4 degrees on its axis – that’s a very astute observation.”
Morgan farted, laughed, then farted again.
“Alright, alright,” he said, picking her up and holding her to his chest as he wandered around the room. Morgan settled her cheek on his shoulder, pushing her thumb back in her mouth, the TV singing a song about shapes or numbers or colours.
Peter liked these kind of days a lot.
He had the apartment to himself and just a little girl with incredibly basic needs to attend to. Morgan Margaret Stark, who pooped, ate, and pooped again. Occasionally, she’d take a nap, but otherwise she liked attention and funny faces, and Peter could say anything he was thinking out loud, because she wouldn’t tell anyone what he said. And he could spend the day trying to get her to say his name as her first word while lost in his own thoughts.
It was during this moment of quiet, Morgan in his arms, sunlight warming the kitchen floor, that Peter heard the scream.
His spine straightened suddenly, eyes darting to the window and ears picking up on the yelp that was cut short.
“Crap,” he muttered, then glanced at Morgan as if she’d immediately repeat the word back. “I can’t- Morgan- I mean-”
There was the sound of a struggle, his enhanced ears picking up on the grunts of exertion and whimpers of fear. Peter heard a please and he knew he had to do something.
“It’s fine, it’s fine,” he said, rushing to his room. He settled Morgan on his bed before yanking off his t-shirt and searching for his suit. “What Tony doesn’t know won’t hurt him. He won’t find out about this, Pepper won’t know – no one will know.”
Peter hit the spider emblem and the suit shrunk to size. He steadied a look at Morgan.
“And you’re not gonna tell anyone, right?”
She looked at him and giggled.
“Right,” he whispered, pulling on the mask.
Before he had much of a chance to think about it, Peter picked up Morgan and darted back into the living room, before searching one-handed through all her supplies and finding the baby carrier a moment later.
Peter enjoyed the baby carrier, because it meant he could hold Morgan without actually holding her, which made a lot of things easier. Like being Spiderman, apparently.
He strapped her into the carrier on his back, checking on her briefly before leaving the apartment via the closest window.
Peter had already figured out that he could hear the yelp so easily because it was coming from the alley next to his building, so it wasn’t difficult to climb out the window and shoot a web that would let him swing around to the scene.
Morgan didn’t seem to mind the height; she just stayed quiet and watched as the ground swung up to meet them and Peter landed carefully, so as not to hurt her.
“Hey!” he called when he reached the alley.
Ahead of him was a man in a dark jacket, a knife outstretched, and a short woman with trembling hands, her handbag being yanked into the mugger’s grasp.
“There are young, impressionable minds present,” Peter said. “Please set a good example for them.”
The mugger blinked at him. “What the hell? Is that a baby?”
Peter shrugged, Morgan babbled in his ear. “It’s bring your sister to work day, what can I say? Now, knife down, handbag back to the nice lady, or my little sister’s gonna have to see me kick your butt.”
The mugger snorted, shoved the bag back at the lady and turned on Peter, brandishing the knife. “Get ready for an ass-kicking, Spiderboy.”
Peter sighed. “Young, impressionable minds present,” he muttered, before swooping into action.
The knife was easy to disarm, considering the mugger moved his weapon into just the right position for Peter to safely knock it away with a well-timed kick. He webbed it to the ground where it landed to take it out of play.
After that, it was just him and the mugger as the lady ran further down the alley, to where the chain-link fence kept her blocked in.
The mugger missed all his hits bar one – Peter took one knock to the stomach when he was focusing more on if Morgan was okay on his back than the mugger’s next move. Peter got him back quickly with a right hook and as the guy leaned forward with a groan, Peter headbutted him in the nose, making Morgan laugh.
She was only laughing for a second though, because a fight’s a rough ride to be an unwilling participant to, and soon the movement was making her whine.
“It’s okay,” Peter promised, shooting a web at the guy’s foot, locking him in place. Still Morgan’s whining got higher and higher in pitch until it sounded like she was about to sob. “Karen,” Peter announced, “play Baby Shark through the suit’s speakers.”
“Yes, Peter, though I have to remind you that you’ve referred to this song as what Hell sounds like on more than one occasion.”
Peter took a deep breath, looking briefly into the middle distance. “I’m a hero, Karen. Heroes do what they must.”
“Understood.”
The Baby Shark song started playing, much to everyone in the alley’s annoyance, bar Morgan, who upon hearing the first doo doo doo doo doo doo, abruptly stopped complaining and quietened.
The mugger, leaning to pull at the webbing on his shoes, received another web to his hands, locking them in place. He growled when he found he was stuck.
“Get me out of this!”
“No can do,” Peter replied, over Mommy Shark doo doo doo doo doo doo.
The mugger shook his head, before spitting, “What the fuck is that song? Turn it off.”
“Hey,” Peter said, going for loud and authoritative, which was a difficult mark to hit with a baby on his back and Baby Shark playing out of his suit’s speakers. “Don’t fucking swear around her, she’s a baby you asshat.”
The mugger blinked before Peter looked to the woman, approaching slowly from the other end of the alley.
“Are you okay, ma’am?” Peter asked, and upon her confirmation, he asked Karen to phone the police and alert them to the mugger, before moving to the closest wall.
“Nice to meet you,” he said to the woman, and to the man, “Learn not to swear around fucking babies, dude.”
Peter made his exit and crawled up the wall, making it to the roof of his building and electing to hang out up there with Morgan for a few minutes, to keep up appearances, before abseiling back down to climb through a window back into his apartment.
When he was back, he pulled Morgan off his back, as she garbled something in time to the Baby Shark song that deserved its own circle of Hell.
“Sure, sweetie,” he said, “A lightning bolt is five times hotter than the surface of the sun. You’re right about that.”
Peter settled back into the sofa, checking her over for marks, just in case.
“You’re not going to tell your Mommy or Daddy about our little adventure today, right?”
Morgan hiccupped, said three words that weren’t really words and Peter smiled, pressing a kiss against her forehead.
“Good, we’ll keep it a secret. The Parker-Stark Secret Keeping Society officially has its first secret.”
(The Parker-Stark Secret Keeping Society’s first secret was found out less than twenty-four hours later when the official police report of the mugging somehow got back to Tony Stark, who then took it upon himself to watch the Baby Monitor footage from Peter’s suit. The woman described Spiderman with a baby on his back, and there was only one baby that could possibly be.
“You took Morgan out with you when you were Spiderman?” Tony asked the second Peter’s apartment door closed.
“It was an emergency-”
“An emergency.”
“I had a thing-”
“A thing.”
“I didn’t have time to drop her off with anyone! And it was right outside my building – but don’t worry, it went fine, she was on my back the whole time. She saw nothing, Tony, I promise – I think she even giggled when I headbutted that mugger-”
“When you what-”
“Nothing, Tony. When I did nothing at all.”
“Right, when you did nothing at all. Because if you did something, that fact would make its way back to Pepper.” Peter gulped. “And then so would the fact that you swore around the baby.”
Peter opened his mouth and shut it again. He swallowed. “Good thing I did nothing at all.”
Tony nodded slowly. “Nothing at all.”
The Parker-Stark Secret Keeping Society had its second official secret.)
All the odd ones 😘
Oooof of course you would do this. Soooo it’s super long so I’m probably gonna put a read more thingy so it’s not obnoxious.
1.What is/are your OC’s nickname(s) and how did it come about?
Annie’s actual name is Annika, but Annie’s super short and so is Ann which is sometimes used. Although, once he finally meets her, Tony Stark calls her Pikachu because of her powers and his need to make pop culture references.
3. How tall is your OC?
Since Annie’s faceclaim is Auli’i Cravalho and she’s 5′3, that makes Annie 5′3. Kind of short, but not as short as me so she’s a lucky gal.
5. What does your OC normally wear? What would your OC wear on a special night?
When there isn’t rehearsal to be done, Annie wears lots of hoodies, sweatshirts, and the occasional cardigan with a t-shirt under it and some jeans with either her brown or black combat boots. When she is rehearsing, just swap out the jeans with her assortment of leggings because she likes the stretchiness. Hence why the original White Swan costume involves silver leggings (silver because Harper’s extra and likes the theme). But for formal events, Annie goes with her favorite black and white polka-dot dress that cuts off just above the knee with flats. She also has a floor-length dark blue dress with silver flowers sewn in, but that was for a dance she never got the chance to go to.
7. Does your OC have any markings, such as a birthmark or a scar?
Considering she’s a superhero and has a death wish??? Annie has scars all over the place. Though they’re mainly on her legs from bumping into buildings wrong. Also, she has a deep scar on her thigh from a certain part in I wanna say chapter 12 but who knows, I sure don’t!
9. What does your OC’s bedroom look like? His/her living area?
Since Annie is a superhero trying to hide from her parents, her bedroom is her living space. She has a full-sized bed against one wall, all of them are a light blue color. Right next to the left side of the bed, which has a fuckton of blankets and a couple stuffed animals, is a large desk with her desktop computer and a spinny chair. Right next to that is her window (it’s plot convenience, but ya know what? fight me how else can she get out undetected???). She has a built in closet and it has all her hoodies and cardigans and also her Heather Macnamara costume from her freshman year’s Halloween party.
11. What is your OC’s relationship with his/her mother?
Annie absolutely loves her mom. She’s always wanted Annie to do what was best for her. Whether it’s dancing or acting or writing, her mom’s the supportive one without a doubt. And while Annie knows she makes her share of mistakes, she’s able to let it slide because at the end of the day, Annie’s not dumb. She knows whether or not what someone did was selfish or not. And more often than not, her mom doesn’t have selfish intents.
13. How many siblings does your OC and what is his/her relationship with them?
Annie has no siblings, but if she did, they would definitely know that she was a superhero and the whole plot of her story would be bribing them to keep their mouths shut.
15. What was your OC’s childhood like?
I answered this one here!
17. What is your OC’s imagination like?
Annie has a seriously great imagination. She kind of has to in order to be decent at acting. It’s super easy for her to think of a scenario or person and put herself right into the middle of it. Also, it makes her think of all the possibilities and that gets in her way because she overthinks some aspects of her life too much.
19. What does your OC think of children- either in general or about having them?
Considering Annie’s only sixteen right now, she doesn’t want to have kids. Even in the future, she isn’t sure how practical having a kid is given some parts of her past that are kinda spoilery and she doesn’t wanna pass on her powers on accident. But she does enjoy talking to little kids. She thinks they’re funny.
21. Who are your OC’s closest relatives?
Annie rarely sees her extended family, so her closest relatives are her parents. Though she currently feels like her dad can go suck it. Which is fair, he sucks.
23. Who are the people your OC surrounds him/herself with?
Before the fanfic, Annie was basically a knockoff Cady Heron and tried getting in with the popular crowd. But currently she surrounds herself with Harper, the fashion design genius, and her two favorite nerds Ned and Peter who are actually the sweetest people she knows.
25. If your OC has a soulmate, who is it?
Everyone’s favorite Spider-Dude, Peter Parker for sure. It works great, they’re both superheroes. That’s not all, but I don’t wanna spoil stuff.
27. What are some things your OC admires about his/her soulmate?
Okay, if it’s physical, Annie is always going off about Peter’s eyes. Like, if she wants to get a real conversation done, she has to look at something that isn’t his eyes. And can you blame her? Those puppy dog eyes could work on anyone! She also really likes his hair, it just looks so soft. But if it’s not physical, Annie can’t get over how genuinely sweet Peter is. He just gives so many people so many chances and is literally one of the kindest and smartest people she’s ever met. And she does think he’s pretty funny too, which is always a plus for sure.
29. What is your OC’s level of education?
At the start of the fic, Annie’s a sophomore in high school, and at the end she’ll be a junior. Do with that what you will
31. What is your OC’s opinion of school? What kind of student was s/he?
Annie likes school for the purpose of learning about different stuff. Even if she won’t use it, she doesn’t mind the random trivia. She’s always handing things in late, but she’s normally on the teacher’s good side so they tend to just let it slide because if she’s good at conversing then she must be a responsible student and working hard, right?
33. What subjects interested your OC?
Annie’s a huge theatre kid so she likes anything to deal with acting. English, history, and psychology are probably her favorite. The only subject she can’t get is physics, but she’s pretty solid in almost everything else.
35. How is your OC working towards his/her dream job and/or achieved his/her current profession?
Theatre classes and trying to participate in the school plays and musicals is how she tries. Also, I’m only saying this because it’s not a serious spoiler with how things are going to go, Annie definitely gets into Julliard for acting. Just saying.
37. What is your OC’s biggest dream?
Annie would KILL to be Christing Daae in The Phantom of the Opera, it’s the ultimate dream come true.
39. How does your OC handle anger?
Poorly. Annie loses control over her powers when she’s extremely angry and what happens as a consequence, she can’t control.
41. What is your OC’s greatest fear?
Annie is terrified that her powers will scare away everyone she’s ever cared about.
43. What kind of sense of humor does your OC have?
Being the regular Gen-Z kid she is, Annie has a pretty dark sense of humor, but she also likes puns and creating silly nicknames for people.
45. What are some things that annoy your OC?
Being told acting’s not a viable career, that she’s dumb, and that she’s a bad person (she can say it but will fight anyone else who says it).
47. How easily does your OC forgive?
It genuinely depends on what it is and how often the person’s screwed her over. If it’s the first time and Annie likes the person, she’s quick to forgive, but observant. If it’s a repeated deal, it wears on her and she has no qualms about messing with them.
49. If your OC experienced trauma, what was it?
I see you, trying to find out about the Fuckening™. That’s not gonna happen. You gotta read the fic to find out about all that, my dude.
51. What are some of your OC’s morals?
Don’t betray friends, don’t go down without a fight, if you know something and it’s potentially harmful then you gotta say something, and don’t leave people behind.
53. What is the health of your OC?
Physically? Annie’s pretty good except for sleep deprivation. Mentally??? Wellllllllp she may or may not have manicdepressionandanorexiai’mnotsureyet.
55. What are your OC’s thoughts on death?
Totally okay option for her, but definitely not allowed for her friends and loved ones.
57. What are some of your OC’s weaknesses?
Annie’s very critical of herself, sometimes overly competitive, she doesn’t always know when to stop, very impulsive and will do something stupid if she thinks it’s right for .5 seconds.
59. What does your OC think of him/herself?
Annie either thinks she’s the best person ever or she totally hates herself, no in between.
61. What is the general impression your OC gives other people?
Annie comes off with a bit of a resting bitch face. So she looks a little intimidating, but she’s also short so how intimidating is that really?
63. How does your OC display love?
Annie pays attention to little things and tries to do small things. Like if someone likes a certain type of tea, she’ll make it for them. Or she’ll compliment them while teasing them at the same time. That’s how anyone would ever know that she’s absolutely smitten.
65. What is your OC’s favorite drink?
Coffee, it lets her get away with sleep deprivation. Although her all-time favorite is a peppermint mocha. She would kill for it year-round.
67. What is your OC’s favorite sweet?
Annie loves anything that’s sour apple flavored. Not only because it matches her Hogwarts house and green’s her favorite color, but because the tartness is just so satisfying.
69. What is your OC’s favorite kind of weather?
Rainy, it reminds her of Seattle.
71. What is your OC’s favorite movie and/or TV show?
Annie absolutely loves all the Harry Potter movies and will proudly display her knowledge of it at any time. She is a huge fan, but she also loves movie musicals to death. Except for the 1961 West Side Story movie. It uses brownface.
73. What is your OC’s favorite form of entertainment?
Dancing around an empty room like an idiot to music. Either by herself or with someone close to her.
75. What is your OC’s favorite scent?
Rain mixed with fresh baked goods. It reminds her of the market and she would kill to go back.
77. What is your OC’s favorite sound?
Definitely the ukulele. It reminds her of some really good times.
79. What is your OC’s favorite kind of ice cream?
Green tea flavored. Ever had it? It’s so good and I recommend it hardcore!
81. Okay one thing you know about Annie that’ll never make an appearance in the story but is important to who she is as a person - whether it’s a little detail of something she experienced or a belief she has.
Alright, Annie definitely has or had a Captain America themed fidget cube that she keeps in her hoodie pocket because she used to play with the loose thread on the sleeve part and ended up constantly making thumbholes that Harper would have to fix. They got tired of it and gave her the fidget cube.
I would like to thank @leaalda for making these amazing banners.
This is an effort to spread the word about all fan fiction writers in our little fandom. If you would like to be featured or nominate a writer, please contact me. Please reblog this post if you can and check out some of @onceuponamirror work!
1. First things first, if someone wanted to read your stories where can they find them.
Ao3! url: onceuponamirror, same as tumblr. i also post on them tumblr at this point. no longer using FF, but it's got old ouat stuff.
2. Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm Sarah, i work in a creative field (i always vacillate between how much i like talking about my work on my blog, because i like to keep careers and hobbies separate) and i live in the states.
3. What do you never leave home without?
A hairbrush! my hair is wild
4. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
The utterly terrible combination of both
5. If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?
HP universe, obv, as long as i'm not also a muggle in this scenario. i mean. magic. need i say more??
6. Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met.
I mean like, what is fame / it's a different barometer for everyone. for me, i met Regina Spektor when i was 16 and that was like touching god for that time of my life but wouldn't be now. More currently, i've met some artists/musicians that meant a lot to me, but like...feel like they might not be considered famous in the sense asked by this question.
7. What are some of your favorite movies/TV?
Parks and Rec and The Office for tv. and for movies: tbh, The Princess Dairies.
also, i was mostly an OUAT blog for the last 5 or so years, though at this point have a love-hate relationship with that show, but all those years still gotta count for something.
8. What are some of your favorite bands/musicians?
Right now i'm listening to a lot of Sade, Rhye, and Sylvan Esso but Belle & Sebastian are one of those bands i've listened to my whole life and never gotten sick of, so there's that.
i like a real range of eras though; lot of groovy 70s disco, a lot of 50s dreamy doo-wop, etc. just depends on my mood.
9. Favorite Books?
I read a lot of psychology/sociology books, tbh all about love by Bell Hooks are kind of the greatest thing ever written and I highly recommend it and right now i'm reading a book about cultural relationships with independence in America. i'm into it.
But honestly I need to read more fiction because this stuff can be heavy to read back-to-back all the time. I'm on the lookout for healthy romance fiction, but it's hard to find fun rom-com books that don't feel cheesy and filled with internalized "i'm not like other heroines" misogyny.
I also like a lot of Haruki Murakami's books, but after a while, they all become some morphed story of "The Missing Wife and The Mysterious Talking Animal that leads the character through the seedy underbelly of magical realism"
(if you've read his books, you know what i'm talking about) (but if you haven't: read them!) (Kafka On The Shore and the wind-up bird chronicle are both great!)
10. Favorite Food?
Nectarines!
11. Biggest pet peeve?
People being presumptuous. drives me bonkers
12. What did you want to be when you were little? What do you want to be now?
I'm one of those really lucky people who is doing exactly what i wanted to do as a little girl as an adult with a career!
13. What are your biggest fears? Do you have any strange fears?
I get freaked out by being near edges of any kind, which is probably just vertigo in disguise. I also don't like swimming out to spaces wherein you can't touch down (if you've read my fic heart rise above, this makes an appearance)
I also hate daddy-long-leg spiders because i used to have nightmares about them poking my eyeballs out with their freaky ass legs
14. When you are on your deathbed what would be the one you’d regret not doing?
As of right now, i'm young, so i'm trying not to look at things with regret already, but rather as things to learn from as i go forward.
Okay… lets talk about your writing!
15. Which is your favorite of the fics you've written for the Bughead fandom?
Well, i've only written 3, and one was a oneshot. The Winged Beast was something that i helped me over a lot of humps I'd been blocked by before, but I think Heart Rise Above has been an experience that has been kind of innumerably personal in terms of my growth as a writer and as an individual.
16. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?
Both mc-fics have had their trials and tribulations but reaching 30k words in The Winged Beast kind of made me realize that I could do sustained plot, though for me, that story is a lot more about plot. It was a challenge to tackle the heavy themes that came up. I wanted to get it right, do it justice, but also a lot of those topics are not personal to me, so i was scared to handle it appropriately.
17. How do you come up with the ideas for you fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?
I'm actually really inspired by Hayao Miyazaki as a storyteller, even though he's known for animation. He has this quote that i really love, so i'll just share it:
I told [Hayao] Miyazaki I love the “gratuitous motion” in his films; instead of every movement being dictated by the story, sometimes people will just sit for a moment, or they will sigh, or look in a running stream, or do something extra, not to advance the story but only to give the sense of time and place and who they are.
“We have a word for that in Japanese,” he said. “It’s called ma. Emptiness. It’s there intentionally.”
Is that like the “pillow words” that separate phrases in Japanese poetry?
“I don’t think it’s like the pillow word.” He clapped his hands three or four times.
“The time in between my clapping is ma. If you just have non-stop action with no breathing space at all, it’s just busyness, but if you take a moment, then the tension building in the film can grow into a wider dimension. If you just have constant tension at 80 degrees all the time you just get numb.” (http://www.rogerebert.com/interviews/hayao-miyazaki-interview)
Ma as a concept of breath within scenes is something i really consciously put into my writing. Both as in breaks wherein it's just a quiet, observed action---and as in, literally. My characters are always physically exhaling and sighing and breathing between speaking. like. constantly. probably to a fault.
I also try to explore this through pacing and structure of paragraphs, as well. bricks of text are not fun to read, so i break things up a lot more than i probably should.
I get into my writing inspirations with more detail down a few questions, but: i always set out with thematic structures in mind.
For example, i wanted to write the winged beast because i'm super excited by the upcoming "class divide/civil war" plot for season 2 and wanted to write a canon divergent serpent jug story! i also wanted to address "dark betty" because i thought there was a lot more nuance to the anger inside her, coming from a place of moralistic justice and disillusionment, and not just simplified into some sort of evil alter ego.
I was seeing a lot of romanticization of the Southside serpents too, so it kind of turned into half of an exploration the cycle of gang psychology through classism; empathy but not rosy glasses. the fic kind of devolved into a story about drug epidemics too, at some point. idk. like i said above, heavy themes.
With heart rise above, it was the concept of time; how much we have of it, what we do with it, and how we handle the passage of it/marks left behind but i'll come back to that.
Tangentially to this original question, i think my training/career as an artist has had a pretty interesting impact on the way that i write. i'm a visual learner, and i see things so clearly in my head as moving scenes; as if i'm watching a movie of what i'm writing---but literally the whole picture. the music in the background to highlight the mood, the expressions on their faces as they happen, etc. it's also why i use a ridiculous amount of visual metaphors, i think, because i'm borderline obsessed with atmospheric graphics.
Idk if others do this too though, i haven't talked to a lot of other writers about process. (however if you'd like to, please please @ me, because that's my favorite thing in the world)
18. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?
I think a multi-chapter (or, at least, more than 4) fic set in another era, or at least one that's pre-1900. I'd get too obsessed with making it feel relatable and readable but also being accurate to the history and getting all the facts right but also while really not wanting to write any "historically accurate" sexism/racism etc. so it just wouldn't work for me.
19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?
Hmm. i think if i could go back and do it again, i would add in a lot more at the beginning of The Winged Beast and move things a lot more slowly as jug and betty got to know each other.
That story was a lot of me testing the waters and getting back into the swing of writing while also pushing myself to write a multi-chapter fic, which I'd never successfully done before, so i definitely set a low bar in the beginning. I wanted to keep it to like, 12 chapters, so I think I rushed things at the start.
20. Favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?
Disclaimer: this turned into an essay and I'm not even sure I answered the question
I feel like overall my favorite plot point is just thematic structure. I know that's a broad answer to a direct prompt, but I'm gonna take this there anyway because I get pitchy about process. so! i set out to explore a few things in Heart Rise Above. One: the cycle of a person's greatest strength usually also being their greatest flaw.
(Betty as a person who is so giving, that she never gives to herself. Jug as the apt observer, who observes within his own life rather than live it. etc etc)
Two: thematically, I really, really wanted to explore time.
I wanted explore both jug and betty coming to grips with the identities formed by adolescence and whether or not those have had inhibitive impacts---as in, coming to terms with change. insofar as represented physically, as friends all start to head in different directions or make career choices, but also emotionally, as people start making the personal growth decisions for ourselves that force them to often choose themselves over work, family, relationships, etc.
Basically: the reflective transition from childhood to adulthood, and how when we reach our mid-twenties we're kind of forced to think about what has defined the last 20 years of our life vs. how we want to define the next.
(lmao I'm also definitely working through some personal shit, considering i'm turning 25 soon) (like, really working through something)
This is also why I set the story with such a specific time constraint: a very looming 3 weeks that sets the stage for the relationship tension. it makes them both question a lot of what they're feeling and whether or not their emotions are exacerbated by time, or the opposite.
It's also why I heavily have peppered the story with quote-un-quote timeless americana aesthetics (the one the tv show loves playing with: neon signs, vintage cars, etc) (and on my end, also doo-wop music that is equal parts lovely and sad and absolutely meaningless in terms of language) because i really want the story to feel stagnant because of while also ominously shadowed by time.
Also omfg i'm sorry for unloading this actual goddamn thesis on a very simple question. i'm a massive over-thinker and I love to talk about this kind of thing and i haven't had a chance to put these thoughts out in such a direct way so it just exploded outta me. I'm sorry, I know this was annoyingly winded.
21. Favorite character to write?
Probably Veronica. Jughead is fun too, and has the kind of measured angst vs. wry wit that is satisfying to parcel out in sustained character growth, but Veronica has that kind of silver tongued whip that lets me exercise a type of voice i would never otherwise get to.
I mean, who the fuck else would say, "just enough décolletage to make your mail-order love interest swoon" and get away with it?
22. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you've written?
Betty tucks a damp, tousled strand of hair behind her ear. Jughead's eyes follow the movement.
This line was the last sentence of chapter 6 of heart rise above. It was this intensely visual scene in my head that I really wanted to read that way; while saying almost nothing but representing a major shift in their relationship. i'm not sure it sells without the context, but within the chapter I feel like I pulled it off, so I'm proud of it.
23. Best comment/review you’ve ever received?
writing-as-tracey and @village-skeptic always leave me the kindest, most thoughtful reviews that really makes me feel stupid kinds of happy inside. I put a lot of thought into my writing and when the little details I don't want to over-sell but not go unnoticed are picked up on, it means so much.
24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?
I had a troll once, which is different. I just deleted it all but I think being able to handle constructive criticism is really necessary in all parts of life, so it's important to take those kinds of points in stride and not personally. we always can be better!
25. If you could change anything in any of your stories, what would it be?
kinda answered this in #19
26. What is your favorite story you’ve ever written? Any fandom?
Definitely Heart Rise Above!
27. What are you reading right now? Both fan fiction and general fiction?
Answered for the on-paper books above in #9, but as bughead fics, really loving the work of @lessoleilscouchants, @sylwrites, and @stillscape right now! but there's so much more to get to, I feel like I'm just barely scratching the surface.
28. Do you have an advice for writers that want to get into this fandom but might be scared?
yo idk, i was kinda lurking on Riverdale for months and then i just...started writing for it, without really accepting or realizing that indicated how much i liked the show/bughead. it wasn't until about 30k into The Winged Beast that i was like "ok ok ok I guess i'm here now" and actually started sharing my fics on tumblr too.
Also, I'm honestly not sure if this question was meant to be about entering fandom or entering writing, so i'm just gonna answer it as both i guess.
So, I guess that means my advice is, very ironically, to not think too much about metrics beforehand, and just start doing it, which, I realize, sounds completely at odds for how much i've talked about process and over-thinking.
What i mean is: get passionate about what you want to write, and write it for yourself. I’m encouraged by reviews to an immeasurable degree, but i'm telling these stories because i really want to explore certain themes or certain parts of the characters i love. if you're not doing it because you're excited by it, you just won't have the motivation to get through it, honestly.
So find out what it is you love about Riverdale, or about your ship, or about your fave character. then write that down, and then make a story around that. if your favorite part about jughead is that he pushes people away because he's afraid of getting hurt, write a story about why he is that way. etc
Ask yourself a lot of questions about what or who you like and why you like that. fandom is a really useful looking glass into ourselves and reflecting on what we're interested in or have gone through by way of analyzing what it is that resonates with us. turning that into fic is just a deeper part of that self-exploration. (again---i love psychology)
And comment on other people's stories! that really creates the sense of back-and-forth that builds a community. but i'm still poking my head around the fandom side of Riverdale/bughead and am more or less still living on ole hermit mountain, so there's a long learning curve and an individual way to do it.
