i do think wicked was the first real book i read that had like actual sex mentioned in it and just like body stuff like that in general. im trying to think if maybe i had read any books before that that might have but i dont believe so. im also trying to remember if i read wicked in 6th grade or 8th grade bc i can remember reading it in the room of my language arts teacher which i had in both those years. like i'd believe it if i did in fact read other stuff like that i probably did but i think im thinking more in the explicitness of it as an actual part and not like an implication or brief mention thing. does anyone remember how elphie and glinda kissed at the train station. they did kiss there right. i was also earlier this week trying to remember if i made these things up in my mind but no i saw other ppl talk about the book in the tags of a post and i did not make it up bc i have to be real those are the things i remember from that book best lol. not the sex scenes but rather i remember sex being Present i do not remember those scenes in detail. also it was kinda crazy to see ppl going too young to be reading it in middle school which like i guess but i think certain types of middle schoolers can definitely handle that book. i think of it in the way that there are many more mature books that some middle schoolers can handle while others can't but it doesn't meant a middle schooler should be dissuaded from reading it. rather perhaps warned but not dissuaded. anyways
#static.soundz#it was just funny to see a bunch of other ppl in tags going yeah i was WAY too young for that book deffo not for ppl that age or like#someone in early high school. to me in middle school i simply adored reading it. personally not a scarring experience. though perhaps i had#some already ready to enjoy it bias due to liking the musical even with their big differences in how the story is told. who knows!#always fascinated by ppl's reading experiences this is no dig btw im just always intrigued by how different those experiences can be for pp#and therefore how they deem it as reading material and who should be reading it.#i do think it is ultimately a personality thing of course. i think that's how most more mature reading is. some ppl at that age are not#ready for the stuff in that book and that is a-okay. and some kids need stories like that. or not need. but are ready for and should#be able to read them if they are interested and want to give it a go.#also i specify real book bc i had read plenty of fanfic in my tender ages but in terms of like books if not the first it was definitely one#of the first ones i read with it.
