 devastating news
this song is so Eddie Kaspbrak coded

“Wonder what I did to deserve this / how could you hurt a little kid?”
“all that I did to try to undo it / all of my pain and all your excuses / I was a kid but I wasn’t clueless / (someone who loves you wouldn’t do this)”
“all of my past, I tried to erase it / but now I see, would I even change it? / might share a face and share a last name but (We are not the same)”
goddddd. fuck.
Thinking abt Eddie post-canon (ALIVE! HES ALWAYS ALIVE IN MY MIND HOLY FUCK) having to go back to Myra where she berates him for leaving so suddenly and for almost dying. As if it was a conscious choice
and he catches himself defending her in his mind, because “she is just worried, she’s yelling because she loves me”. But then he remembers the reaction of the rest of the Losers when they saw him after his surgery. All wobbly smiles and “I love you”s. Everyone taking a turn holding his hand and expressing their relief that he was alive.
And suddenly is occurs to him, someone who loves you wouldn’t do this. He knows what they would do, because he has people who love him. People who love him unconditionally and without reservations. They were so happy to see him in that hospital room. Myra is angry at him. So angry she hasn’t even asked how his condition was. Just launched straight into a tirade about him being an inconsiderate husband. It all hits him like fucking truck. Myra’s face almost seems to morph into that of the late Sonia Kaspbrak.
Without warning he starts laughing. Laughing at his situation, at his cluelessness. Myra goes a brilliant shade of red, features contorting into an expression that could only be described as irate. Normally, he’d back off and let her continue to scream at him until she got it out of her system. But he doesn’t even know what “normal” is anymore. “Myra, this isn’t healthy” his voice is, thankfully, even. Her face seems to drain of color, suddenly making her seem small.
“Eddie bear, I’m just so worried about you! You left with hardly any explanation and almost got yourself killed. Don’t you see how idiotic that is? This is why you can’t be trusted to be on your own! You can’t take care of yourself! I love you Eddie but-“
“Your love shouldn’t be conditional Myra! Your sentence should’ve ended at I love you! No buts! You haven’t even asked me yet if I’m okay! I’ve been home an entire hour and you haven’t said one nice thing to me! This. Isn’t. Healthy. I can take care of myself! I don’t need you to coddle me! I pulled a knife literally out of my face! I survived a fatal chest wound that I got protecting my friend! I did those things! I don’t need you or anyone else to protect me. I am brave
braver than I ever thought I was capable of being.” His hands are kind of shaking but he feels good. He feels light, like he could float away.
Myra looks like she might be sick.
“Look, we just aren’t good for each other. I don’t think we should be together anymore. I’m gonna go, I’ll stay with a friend for a while. You should expect papers soon. I’m
sorry this didn’t work out, and that it’s ending the way it is. I know we weren’t always like this. I’ll see you around Myra.”
Tears were building up in his eyes but he still turned around and made his way back outside. Myra hadn’t moved from her spot in the middle of the living room, he was thankful for that. It made it so much easier to get back into his car (that he hadn’t even gotten around to unloading) and drive. He wasn’t sure where he was going yet or what he was going to do in the long run, but he knew what he had to do right now.
“Siri, call Richard Tozier.”
-
I could’ve gone down the Sonia & Eddie route, but my first thought was how their relationship shaped Eddie’s relationship w/ Myra. So here it is!
- đŸ«€
heartie. you're killing me here.
AAAAAAHHHH LEJRHBFLSJEBFGAL;OWRHNFLSAIHEGF;AEOSBGRL THIS IS SOOOO GOOOOD AASAHAHHHHHH like actually oh my god. this was so good.
"someone who loves you wouldn’t do this. He knows what they would do, because he has people who love him. People who love him unconditionally and without reservations." THE LOSERS HELPING HIM REALIZE THIS IS MY FAVOURITE HC EVER,,,, ALL HE'S EVER KNOWN HIS ENTIRE LIFE SINCE MOVING OUT OF DERRY IS HOW SONIA AND MYRA HAVE TREATED HIM, UNTIL HE COMES BACK TO DERRY AND IS SHOWN REAL LOVE AND COMPASSION BY HIS BEST FRIENDS.... Previous Chapter // Next Chapter
(Summary: Richie and Eddie go back to school. Stan interrogates Eddie and Bill tries to put the pieces of the mystery together. )
~
Tuesday morning came and Richie found himself passing his rooms as he contemplated his latest delema.
“What the fuck am I gonna wear!” He shouted as he pulled on his curls. He groaned when he let go.
A quiet knock brought his gaze towards his door where his mother stood, “Everything alright honey?” She asked with kind yet tired eyes, it was still early after all.
Richie hummed a quick fine from where he stood in front of his closet. He spent another solide 10 minutes staring at the contents before he finally decided on an outfit for the day. In the end he picked out his favourite t-shirt, which was a big light blue hoodie that had ‘Virginity Rocks’ written in big writing, a matching light blue beanie. Accompanied by one of his nicer pairs of black jeans which he cuffed at the bottom to match the warmer weather outside, and a pair of black high top converses.
He hummed, “Nice, nice, nice” Richie snapped his fingers anxiously as he gave himself a once over in the mirror.
When he drove to school that day, Richie actually turned the radio on and allowed himself to listen to the top hits, which he normally hated, he’d rather hook his phone up via aux cord and play his own tunes. But today
something about all of the cheesy love songs actually brightened his mood. Hell, he even sang along to a couple of them.
He walked up the main path that day and smiled at the sight of his boyfriend who leaned up against the same tree he had been a week or so ago. “Hey gorgeous” Richie wrapped his arms around Eddie’s waist from the back.
Eddie squicked, spooked slightly, but then his squak turned to laughter. “Richie! Let go!” Eddie laughed as he playfully thrashed in Richie’s arms.
Instead Richie gracefully twirled him around so they stood face to face. The wolf kissed the rabbit’s forehead which got him a blush of the cheeks from the shorter boy.
“Hey
” Eddie said sheepishly as he looked up into Richie’s big brown eyes, always filled with excitement, now they were filled with something new, love. It warmed his heart.
“Hey shortstack” Rich carefully raised his hand up and pushed a loose piece of hair behind Eddie’s ear.
Eddie rolled his eyes, using it as a way to glance away without seeming off, “Don’t call me that” he complained, but his voice held to annoyance. Before Richie could argue, Eddie laced their fingers together and looked towards the school, “Come on, dipshit. We’re gonna be late”.
~
Bill didn’t show up that day, not during the first period, or lunch, or last. Though Eddie only shared one class with him, fourth period history, that didn’t stop his foot from tapping underneath his desk the entire day.
Home room with Alley was fairly chill, she was normal, which Eddie needed every now and then. She talked about the journalist things, TV shows and fan fictions, online friends and cosplay. It put The Anector’s mind at ease just listening to her ramble on about the latest gossip.
Second Period was math, which he found out after the second day of school he shared with Stan. Even after everything that happened at Bill’s, Eddie trusted Stan. He knew that Stan and Richie had been friends for a long time before all of this started and that they had a tight bond, so he could get used to how close the two were.
Eddie took his normal seat in the third last row, second to the window. It was Stan who decided to take up the seat beside him. Neither of them said anything while Stan got settlers into his seat. Once Stan had his notebook all sorted out and his pens in place he slowly, sarcastically almost, turned towards Eddie with a blank expression.
“Am I going to need to start pulling teeth before you tell me what happened?” Stan’s voice was a mix of worry and concern, also a little amusement as he enjoyed watching Eddie’s face fill with fear at his tone.
Eddie’s face fell, “Uh- No? I just didn’t know if you wanted to know or-“.
“Well I do” Stan cut in like a teenage girl desperate for the latest tea.
“Okay okay, sheesh” Eddie was stalling, not really wanting to retell the story as he barely even liked to think about what had happened. So he just stated the facts, “Bill thinks I killed his dad” He only realized how bad that sounded once it was already out.
“What?” Stan hissed, eyes wide with shock. When Eddie didn’t respond he simply asked, “Well, did you?”.
“Sort of” Eddie made a face. Okay that was as close to getting over practically killing someone as he was gonna get. Eddie tried to not meet Stan’s intense stare, focusing on the compass around his neck, he fiddled with the latch, clicking it open and closed like a pen.
“Sort of?” Stan whisper yelled.
Eddie rolled his eyes with a sigh then proceeded to quickly explain what had happened in The All Lands and what happened at Bill’s.
“What happened after I left?” Eddie asked in anticipation, he worried that the rest of the Losers had suspected something was up by their outburst of weirdness that night.
“Uhhh” Stan hummed, thinking over what he was gonna say next, “I gave Bill a tongue lashing for everything he did to you. He seemed pretty rattled, like a deer in the headlights. But afterwards we went back in, watched Toy Story 2. Bill was first asleep. Then Bev and I raided his fridge. I finished his chocolate milk as revenge, and spite” Stan lightly smirked at his actions. “But yeah if the Losers ask, you had an asthma attack” The light haired boy stared as Eddie nodded in understanding.
“Oh” Stan remembered something and pulled it out of his pencil case, “Here” He handed the phone to Eddie.
Eddie moved the phone from hand to hand, a ghost smile played over his lips as he clicked it open and saw Richie’s ridiculous selfie for a wallpaper. “Thanks” Eddie sent a smile to Stan who in return gave him a slightly smaller smile and a head nod.
~
Lunch was fairly normal. Eddie had met up with Richie at his locker and they walked to the cafeteria together from there. Mike was already there, he saved their normal table for them, he waved when they entered the room.
“How are you guys doing?” He shot them his cannon ‘Mike Hanlon Best Friend of the Year’ smile.
Even though he didn’t ask directly, The Ancestors both got the vibe that he was hinting at the recent occurrences at Bill’s.
“We’re
okay” Richie shared a reassuring glance with Eddie who placed his hand over his knee under the table.
Eddie nodded, “My asthma was acting up, Richie opted to take me home. But I’m all good now”.
Suddenly a pair of arms were wrapped around Eddie, and they weren’t Richie’s, so the rabbit was thoroughly confused.
“I’m so glad you’re okay” The female voice sighed from above him.
Eddie’s shoulders sagged in relief, “Hey Bev” He tilted his head back to smile up at her.
“What the hell happened to you?” She asked as she settled in beside him.
Eddie swallowed the bite sandwich he’d been chewing, “Asthma attack” he informed her with a slow nod and took another bite of his sandwich.
“Shit Eds are you alright? She asked with concern.
Eddie nearly choked on his sandwich, no one has ever called him that, aside from Richie, and he kinda preferred it that way.
“Woah, hold up there Marsh, this is my Eds” Richie playfully nudged her shoulder.
Even though Richie’s voice hinted that he was joking, Eddie had a feeling he meant it. He sneezed Richie’s knee under the table and their smiles brightened a little.
“Does anyone know where Bill is today?” Ben asked from the other side of Bev.
The Losers shared a look of worry, no one answered, no one knew.
“I’m sure he’s just sick, or maybe he’s watching Georgie because he’s sick” Stan supplied a sufficient idea.
~
English class rolled around and Eddie’s mind was filled with thoughts and worries about Bill. He hadn't even noticed the way his foot had continued to tap rapidly against the tile floor, until Richie placed a hand on his knee, stopping the tap.
“You okay?” Richie had leaned over from his desk beside Eddie.
“Fine, just worried about Bill” Eddie sighed and glanced over at Richie.
After that Mr. Brock began the lesson and he explained the trip on Friday a little bit more. Richie’s palms began to sweat just at the thought of the upcoming full moon. He stole a quick glance at Eddie who was subconsciously twirling a peice of hair between his fingers. The wolf still couldn’t believe that his little bunny liked him back.
~
It was Tuesday, which meant it was Stan and Richie’s day to go feast on junk food from the corner store. Which actually worked out pretty well as Bill was Stan’s usual ride, but Bill kinda went awol, so he got a ride home anyways.
This was the one time they got to just fool around and be teens.
Richie found Stan where he stood in the chips ile as he contemplated what flavour to buy. The dark haired teen held out a bag of M&M’s and a bottle of Dr Pepper and a coke. “Yo Staniel, what if I ate mentos and drank coke afterwards? Would I throw up? Internally combust? Or shit my pants?” Richie stared off into the distance as if he was contemplating the meaning of life.
“Oh Richard
” Stan sighed, “The acids in your stomach are strong enough to-”.
“Whatever I’m testing it anyways” Richie declared.
Suddenly Stan let out a mega sneeze, it might have been sudden but he jumped into action and sneezed into his elbow.
“You good Stanita?” Richie questioned with concern.
Stan shook his head, lately the sneezes have been taking out more and more energy from him. He pulled a kleenex from his pocket and wiped his nose. “First, don’t call me that. Second, I’m fine, just a cold” He confirmed.
Richie shrugged, Stan had a history of ignoring his colds until they passed, so Richie left Stan to go find more snacks to rot his teeth.
Stan Rolled his eyes which then fell on the aisle of freezers that stood behind him. He saw the various types of milks that were kept safe in their little frozen prisons. Stan’s gaze fell upon the jugs of chocolate milk which caused his lips to form a small smile.
Bill

~
Bill Denbrough hadn't left his place at his desk in an hour. He sat facing his board, the pictures and articles had blurred together from looking at them for so long. He spent the morning changing things, adding new pictures (one was an updated photo of Eddie that had bunny ears drawn on his head and a photo of Richie with a question mark over his face). Now, things seemed even more confusing than they had previously.
He knew Eddie had something to do with his father's death. Bill just didn’t know how, yet. He also couldn't ignore the fact that his dad didn’t actually have any physical damage, it did look like a heart attack, but Bill knew it wasn't.
Lying to his mother had become some sort of second nature to Bill, so lying about being sick to skip out on school that day wasn't a chore. Lying to anyone wasn't hard anymore
. Deep down Bill knew that it wasn't good, but he had to do what was necessary.
Bill cut a new piece of yarn and attached one end to the picture of Eddie and the other end to the picture of Richie. From there he looked at his calendar that was placed just above his desk, right before his main investigation board began. He noticed that that Friday had ‘School Trip’ and he was reminded of the Writer’s Craft field trip he had with his class, as well as Richie and Eddie’s english class. Bill smirked and circled the date with a red sharpie.
“No better time”.

Omg u just posted part 2 but pleaseeee do the road trip au part 3. Whatever you want. With or without Sonia. I just LOVE reddie as parents and I need more of it in my life
part one || part two
“Are you sure this is a good idea, sis?” Ollie asked, looking down at his phone and then back up at his sister. “Dad thinks we’re visiting grandma and grandpa, he’ll go crazy if he finds out we’re here
” Glancing back at the house in front of them, Ollie swallowed.
Grace rolled her eyes and nodded her head, unbuckling from the car, “Well technically, she is still our grandma, just not the one we told dad we were going to visit. Not that I’m saying we won’t go and visit grandma and grandpa, but I just
I want answers.”
Even though Grace was a child when she had her first, and only encounter with her dad’s mother, the memory was still ingrained in her mind. She would never get over the way the woman had spoken to her dad, and then to her, in the middle of a supermarket that is.
“Okay fine, but after we’ve spoken to her we need to go to grandma and grandpas. Dad has probably already messaged them and they’ll be waiting for us.” Ollie sighed and Grace nodded before stepping out of the car and walking up to the porch.
Unlike her brother, she wasn’t nervous. She wanted answers. She wanted to know why someone would treat her dad the way his mother had. She may be her grandmother by blood, but in her heart? She was just another person in the world who was ignorant and selfish.
Grace kept her head high when she knocked on the door, firm and with purpose before stepping back. There was a noise behind the door before it swung open and Grace jumped back a little. The woman who answered the door wasn’t Sonia Kaspbrak, and Grace had to reset her brain as she considered maybe this was the wrong house.
“May I help you?” The woman asked, her eyes narrowing as she looked back and forth between Grace and Ollie. “I’m not looking to buy anything if that’s what you’re after.”
She moved to close the door and Grace jumped into action, stopping her with a shake of her head, “No, no uh, we’re looking for Sonia Kaspbrak? Is she home?”
The woman paused, blinking at the two of them before she sighed and crossed her arms. “Sonia passed away last week. Heart attack. I’m her sister, Marge.” She said. “What can I do for you?”
At the news, Grace felt a little heartless for the lack of emotion she felt over the fact that her other grandparent was dead. Though she wondered if anyone had been in contact with her dad. She doubted it, as apparently she passed away last week, and her dad hasn’t seemed off since then. Not even her Papa seemed off, and he couldn’t keep a secret to save himself.
“Oh I’m so sorry-” Ollie spoke up, as Grace had been silent for too long. “Uh, this might sound weird to you but we-” He stopped. “We’re her son, Eddie’s, children. Sonia’s grandchildren. We were in town and we wanted to, uh, connect with her?”
Grace rolled her eyes at her brother’s words and she finally found her voice, “Actually, no, Ollie is just being too polite. We weren’t here to connect, we were here for answers on why she treated our dad like shit. Since you’re her sister, I’m sure you’re aware. Would you be able to answer our questions?”
Marge, their great-aunt apparently, stared at the two of them for a second before nodding and stepping to the side, allowing them to come into the house. It wasn’t anything like Grace imagined and the thought of her dad growing up here made her shudder. “Please take a seat,” she motioned and both Grace and Ollie followed her instructions. “What would you like to know. I have to admit, I might not be able to answer everything but I will do my best.”
“Why did Sonia not want my dad and papa to be together?” Grace asked first, narrowing her eyes. “My dad being Eddie and Papa being Richie Tozier. I’m sure you know who he is.”
“Yes, I am familiar with who Richie Tozier is,” Marge sighed. “I can answer that. Sonia didn’t agree with homosexual relationships. It was against her religion. She also believed that Richard was corrupting Eddie and turning him against her. Which he did, in the end, as they ran away together without so much as a goodbye.”
Grace scoffed, crossing her arms, “They were in love with each other. Since when was being in love a crime? And my dad had every right to run away when he did, she was lying to him about his health! What kind of mother lies to a child about being sick? Ollie,” she pointed to her brother. “He has actual asthma, and do you know how difficult it was to get him diagnosed thanks to my dad’s child trauma? Too long!”
With a sigh, Marge shook her head, “Sonia wasn’t always like that. When Frank was still alive, they were a happy family. Yes, Sonia was a little wary of Eddie doing dangerous things, but Frank softened her out. When he passed away there was nothing stopping her from going insane.”
That was when Ollie finally decided to perk up, “But there was,” he said calmly. “There was you, and other family members. All you had to do was talk to her, and convince her she was being unreasonable. It wasn’t that hard, and yet
you didn’t bother did you?”
Marge gasped, “It wasn’t any of my business!” She hissed. “I wasn’t getting involved.”
“It was your business though!” Grace snapped. “Eddie was your nephew. He was family and I was raised to believe that family helped each other. Turns out it’s not the same for this family.”
The room fell into silence before Marge sighed once more, “Eddie left a lot of things behind, and they were put in the attic. I’ve sorted through it all. Would you like to take it?” She asked and Grace blinked, not expecting the question. “Some of the things were what he left behind before he ran away.”
Grace nodded, “Yes, we would definitely like to take it.” She stood up. “I think we’re done here though. Thank you for your time.”
Both Ollie and her helped take the boxes out into their rental car before driving the short distance to their grandma and grandpa Tozier’s house. When they got there, Maggie was out on the porch, running to greet them with kisses and promises of hot cocoa. Grace smiled and met her eyes with her brother, sharing a silent agreement.
Tomorrow they would call home and explain to their dad what happened, and what they had gained from the visit. Right now though, Grace was desperate for some of her grandma Maggie’s hot cocoa.

Id love to hear about the reddie wedding
WORM OKAY THIS IS LONG BUT FUCK I LOVE IT
so after IT Eddie lost his arm, and Stan lost his leg saving eddie’s life (stans still alive n well and he had a baby with Patty dw) and Eddie went to live with Richie in Beverly Hills after his recovery in Maine and properly divorcing/leaving Myra (with the assistance of Patty, who is a family lawyer, conveniently.)
After 2 months of the excruciating tension of living with Richie, because when he was knocked out in the hospital in Maine, Richie confessed how he had an infatuation with Eddie that didn’t seem like it was going away, Richie finally asked Eddie if he’d like to go on a date.
They dated for 12 beautiful, sexy months before Richie popped the question. It was on the drive back from a trip to see Beverly and Ben, to meet their newborn girl. Richie pulled up to a beach in California, and they walked along it. Eddie got caught up in the way the sky looked, and when he turned to look at Richie’s reaction, Richie was on one knee.
“Eddie, you are the bravest person, I’ve ever met.” He said. “You’ve taught me how to take care of myself, you’ve taught me how to be strong and how to clean my dick properly. I love you and I love your eyes and your ass- I should’ve written this down-”
Eddie’s crying be now. “I love yours too”
“Gross.”
they both laugh. they’re crying. Richie’s crying. Openly, on this beach in California with Eddie.
“Edward Christopher Kaspbrak. You’ve taught me that being in love shouldn’t be hidden, or feared. You’ve shown me what it’s like to feel loved and to love someone else and for the rest of my living days I want that feeling for both of us. Will you marry me?”
“Richard James Tozier I will marry you.”
The wedding happened in October. The two of them giggled with delight as they decided to get married on Halloween. There were flowers of all kinds everywhere, with lots of natural lighting.
Richie had a red suit, covered in yellow, orange and purple flowers. He had his big orange glasses, hair slicked back was shaking intensely. Stan was his best man, and Richie’s father walked him down the aisle, reminding him of how proud he was, and how he loved and supported him.
(in Richie’s heart, he knew if poor Maggie Margret Tozier were still alive, she’d be in tears)
Bill, of course, walked Eddie down the aisle. He wasn’t crying but his eyes were shining.
Richie’s heart was caught in his throat when he saw Eddie. Eddie had a simple, silk baby blue suit with one arm gone so his new bionic arm Richie got him for his birthday that year was on full display. His hair was very curly, and blond, with one green ring pierced through his right ear.
As soon as Eddie’s at the altar, he breathes out a hi, and Richie responds in the same tone, you look amazing, Stan, from behind Richie, choked out a sob.
(Beverly, who was Eddie’s best man, was also crying.)
As for vows, either I copy Brooklyn Nine Nine (as Jake is Richie and Amy is Eddie, x or script x) or it would go something like this:
Richie: “Okay, uhm. Eds. Holy shit. Uh.. Here we are. If you told me at 14 I’d be marrying a man at the ripe old age of 41, I’d laugh at you and call you names. But here we are. I’ve never met someone who challenges me so much, but lets me win anyway so as to not hurt me or break my disturbingly fragile heart. You’ve made me do things I’ve never thought about trying. You made me want to be a better person, and you’ve turned me gay. It’s no joke its true I guarantee it. And even though I talk for a living and everything I’ve ever done has relied on me talking or joking around. I love you too much to try and put it into words. You’ve officially left me speechless Eddie, and I love you for that.”
Eddie: “When I married Myra, there was something in my bones that told me I shouldn’t. Like someone was trying to convince me it was a bad idea - it was. It was probably intuition, but the more I think about it, the more I begin to think it was your voice. When we were kids, I hated your voice but now.. It’s all I hear. I almost left Myra at the altar. And I thought marriages were supposed to be dull. But you’ve showed me more colour than I could describe. And I know that when I’m with you, Richie, I’ll be smiling and laughing for the rest of my life. I love you.
Eddie: “But I have some bad news. There is a bomb at this wedding.”
Richie: “what?”
Eddie: “Your butt. Your butt is the bomb, there will be no survivors.”
Richie tries to hide the tears that to stream down his face. The dam is broken. Richie is crying.
“I love you so much.. You’re the love of my life.”
{from here}
“Do you, Richie Tozier, take Eddie to be your lawfully wedded husband?”“I do.”Richie turns to the crowd. “Or do I?”
“Richie..”
“I do. I definitely do.”
“Do you, Eddie Kaspbrak, take Richie to be your lawfully wedded husband.”
“I absolutely do.” (Apple-solutely)
“You may kiss the groom.”
Contrary to popular assumption, Eddie grabs Richie by the collar and dips him to kiss him, and the crowd goes wild.
They run down the aisle, hand in hand before eddie stops and looks at the bouquet in his hands. He and Richie share a wild grin before throwing it behind him and Mike and Bill both catch it at the same time.
Stan gives a best man speech at the dinner (choice of two meals, both grooms chose one. Eddie chose chicken nuggets and fries and Richie chose spaghetti and meatballs).
He stands. “I’d like to say a few words.” He says, leaning on his bionic leg. His daughter Daisy is in his arm, she was born on May 28th, exactly a year after the 6 phone calls. She’s holding her sippy cup of apple juice out like her father is. She gets some awwwws from the crowd.
“I’ve known Richie since he was six years old. He’s been my best friend for over 35 years. When we were 12, I was convinced that I’d watch this boy get older, but never grow up. [
] the day he called me and told me he was getting married, that he wanted me to be his best man and wanted my help with the wedding, I cried. Because it was that day when I realized that my barely-functioning childish best friend had grown up. Into a barely function childish adult. I’ve known all my life things that are real, And what is beyond our control. I know time is beyond our control. I know the things that shape us, physically and mentally, are out of our control. I know that flight is real, that marriage and law is real. And a vend diagram of Real and Uncontrollable only has one thing between them. The love of Eddie and Richie. Uncontrollable, and totally, helplessly real. [to Richie and Eddie] I’m proud of you. And I love you both.”
Richie breaks down, collapsing into Stan’s arms and hugging him and crying so much.
When they have their first dance, Richie trips and falls onto Eddie, and the room laughs. Richie and Eddie kiss.
Richie sings a song, and sings it to Eddie. It’s probably something like this or maybe this
And Eddie cries
When Ben finds them, and congratulates them, he’s smiling so much it hurts. “Much fancier than mine.” he says. He and Beverly eloped. They didn’t have a wedding. “I’m a bit jealous.”
Beverly is crying. “I can’t believe it took you mother fuckers 30 god damn years. I hate you both. Hug me.” She gives them both a kiss on the cheek.
“Should’ve known your wedding was gonna be the best.” Mike laughs at them. “Chicken nuggets, floral suits and rockin’ music. Only the finest.”
Bill sort of sits, in the back of the room. He came alone. Audra left him in the summer of last year. He’s not one for romance, anymore.
“I’m proud of you two.” he says. “You guys are great together. Really.”
He doesn’t stutter once.
Richie cries again in Stan’s shoulder. He’s so happy. Stan’s also crying.
“You would’ve said something better at my wedding. I know it.” Stan says. “You would’ve brought the church to tears.”
“You didn’t get married in a church.” Eddie frowns.
“We didn’t get married. We just put a ring on eachother and said fuck it.”
Richie, through his tears, looks at Stan. “You’ve been wearing a cockring for 20 years?”
“You’ll be doing it too, I’m sure.”
Richie and Eddie’s honeymoon is marking things off their bucketlist. They go visit Richie’s dad in Italy. They go see Frank Kaspbrak’s grave. They go see the northern lights. They go through all of Europe and some places in Asia. Richie takes him to the Golden Globes and every time Eddie is introduced Richie says “This is my husband, Eddie.”
When they get back, they sit in Richie’s big, Beverly Hill’s house, and they sigh.
“Eds?”
“Yeah?”
“We’re married.”
“We’re an old married couple.”
Richie gasps. “We are!”
They laugh and cuddle next to each other.
“I love you.” “I love you too.”

Morning!Reddie headcanons
—Winter is absolutely the best thing ever because they always wake up spooning.
—Richie will hug Eddie from behind and they’ll just lay there in their cozy cove made of sheets and pillows, warm and pure and in love.
—Richie likes to think he always wakes up first, but, actually, Eddie just likes to pretend he’s asleep so Richie will snuggle him for a little more.
—Of course, since it’s Richie, he will usually grab Eddie’s butt and stuff. And Eddie will just take it and cuddle because he lowkey loves it? And early in the morning is the only time of the day he doesn’t have to pretend he hates it? Yeah.
—Richie, obviously, notices how much he likes it. So he just leaves his hand there and everything is perfect and domestic and dreams do come true, until he, also pretending to be asleep and with the clear intention of waking Eddie up, whispers “Eds would kill me if he found out about us, hm, Mrs. K?”
—And Eddie just
do you remember that Spongebob episode when Spongebob would get into Squidward’s bed and Squidward was so sleepy that he just allowed it? And when he notices what’s going on his eyes suddenly open wide in such a memeish way? That’s Eddie’s reaction everytime Richie murmurs something like “gotta love that ass of yours, Mrs. K”.
—"DUDE, WHAT THE HELL". Sitting up and ruining all the magic bc seriously wth.
—"Oh, there you are, Eds. Sorry, same old dream I’ve been having everynight since we hit puberty".
—Eddie barely represses a psychotic tic of his right eye as Richie explodes in a uncontrollable laugh and puts his arms around him and pulls him to his chest (Eddie lowkey can’t breath and will beat the shit out of him with his clueless, bare hands if he doesn’t let go of him).
—But he doesn’t let go, he just lets him raise his head a bit so he won’t die suffocated. He’s still on top of Richie with him holding him down. And they stare into each other eyes and it’s so perfect.
—Obviously, Richie can’t see, so Eddie, trying to avoid every chance of a sappy, awkward moment happening, takes the glasses from the nightstand and roughly puts them on his face, saying something like “you look stupid trying to see without them”.
—But he’s clearly lying bc Richie looks so cute in the mornings when he makes an effort to see bc he’s to lazy to stretch out an arm to get his glasses and aAaAaAaAAAAA why is he like this Eddie is internally screaming.
—"You like me stupid", Richie smirks and Eddie just
melts. But of course he can’t admit it, so he rolls his eyes and let himself be flipped and pushed down to the bed by Richie’s weight.
—More cuddles!
—Eddie yawns and Richie just
melts. Like, so cute! And he holds him there and starts saying fluffy stuff and kissing all over his face.
—"Such a
 *peck on the forehead* cute
*nuzzle on the neck* little thing
*peck on the cheek* aren’t you? *kiss on the temple* Soft
*peck on the other cheek* sleepy
 *peck on the nose* boy
 *peck on the lips* cute
 *kiss* cute
*kiss* cute! *super hardcore and sweet smooch*
—Eddie feels in heaven. But he can’t let this damage his reputation of chaotic evil, so he puts his hand on Richie’s face, pushes him back so he can get out from under him and says “morning breath”, getting out of bed.
—He starts looking into the closet for his clothes and Richie lies down on his stomatch and whines into the pillow like a dying whale.
—"Edssss, why do you have to leave meeee"
—"I’m not leaving you, we always leave together. But it’s late and you know it. So get up".
—"But I don’t wanna go to work. It’s booooriiiing".
—"You work at the radio station because you chose it".
—"But, baby, it’s cold outside".
—"You’re a fucking child".
—"You work at a children hospital. I just prepare you for that".
—"I work at a children hospital but I’m not your babysitter".
—"That’s what you think".
—They argue until Eddie is ready and Richie finally agrees he’s getting out of bed (they have this rule that says they only cancel plans before one of them is fully dressed, so he can’t do nothing about it and he just accepts his fate as an adult).
—As Richie gets ready in front of their mirror, he usually pulls Eddie with him and wraps his arms around his waist and rests his chin on his shoulder, making him look at himself in the mirror and telling him “look at how cute that guy is! Oh, and is that devilish handsome man behind him his husband? It looks like he is!”
—Eddie just laughs and rolls his eyes. And then Richie says “just brushed my teeth. No morning breath anymore” like he won some strategy game and Eddie says “ok” and gives him a quick kiss over his shoulder before leaving the room.
—Richie always makes breakfast bc the only thing he can cook is hotcakes. Still, he’s so careless and messy that Eddie would rather do it himself.
—The thing is
they don’t have that much time. So Eddie’s boss (who is a cool guy, but he likes things being well done) calls him and Eddie lies saying he’s stuck in the traffic.
—Richie will catch up the conversation and start making street noises and scream things like “LEARN HOW TO DRIVE, ASSHOLE! OH, YEAH? YOU WANNA FIGHT? GET OFF OF THAT CAR AND FACE ME”. And Eddie tries so hard not to laugh.
—It’s all okay until Richie’s lack of attention while cooking backfires and he accidentally lands his hand on the stove and ScReAmS.
—Eddie worries about it, but, most important, he almost drops his phone and when he handles it back his boss asks for an explanation. Then diva!Richie takes the stage.
—"EDS, WATCH OUT, AN OLD LADY, OH NO, YOU’RE ON THE SIDEWALK, YOU’RE ON THE FUCKING SIDEWALK!!! OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, AM I GONNA DIE? I DON’T WANNA DIE! OH, NO, THE POOR OLD LADY! THE KIDS!!! LOTS OF KIDS EVERYWHERE, THEY ONLY WANTED TO GET TO SCHOOL, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE. Look, here comes the ambulance! *takes the phone and starts to scream to it* WEEE OOOH WEEE OOOOH! Thank God, we’re saved! OH NO THE CAR IS ON FIRE! THERE’S DEAD BODIES EVERYWHERE! WHY GOD WHY?! WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO US! WHY DID THIS HAPPEN TO US! WHY MUST THE GOOD DIE YOUNG? WHEN WILL GOD HAVE MERCY ON THESE POOR UNFORTUNATE SOULS! Myhandhurtsgoodbye". Click.
—Eddie looks ready to kill him but his poor baby burned his hand and he needs help so fanny pack powers activated you’re so in trouble Richard we’ll talk about it where does it hurts honey.
—When they take care of his hand, they sit to have breakfast. And, even when all the domestic magic is back, they’re in a bit of a hurry. So Eddie makes the mistake of telling him to eat fast and Richie fucking ROLLS UP his hotcake and starts eating it like it’s a burrito.
—"RICHIE WHAT THE FUCK YOU CAN’T EAT HOTCAKES LIKE THAT".
—"Oh, sorry *still chewing*, forgot the syrup *grabs the syrup bottle and directly puts half of its content into his mouth*“.
—”
“ *dies*
—"Want some, Eds?”
—"
“ *dies again*
—”
“ *smile full of food and syrup*
—"Beep beep, Richie”.
—Since the hospital where Eddie works is on the way to the radio station, Richie always gives him a ride.
—They cruise the town in his shining classic car with 80s music blasting on the stereo or Richie’s voice changing the lyrics of famous TV shows themes.
—Tozbraks, meet the Tozbraks, they’re the modern gay age family. From the town of Derry, Maine, they’re a page right out of gaystoryđŸŽ¶
—"You can’t put the word ‘gay’ in every song and pretend it fits us, Rich".
—"Oh, I can’t, Eds? I can’t? Are you sure? I can’t?“
—"Uh huh”.
—"You’re right. I should put the word 'cute’ if I want it to fit you".
—"Fuck you" *blushes while internally screams*
—When they arrive to the hospital, it’s time to say goodbye. Of course Richie doesn’t need to get out of the car for that, but he does it anyway. And they just hug and kiss at the hospital’s sidewalk, and they don’t care about what anyone could think.
—"See you at dinner, Eds", Richie says as he gets back to the car. “Love ya”.
—"Love you, too, Rich" *InTeRnAlLy ScReAmInG*
—He loves this man so much.
—And he has so many explanations to give to his boss.

It Always Gets Stranger
Mike’s family is going to Maine for the summer. Sometimes, things take a turn for the worst.
CHAPTER 6
read on ao3
read chapter 1, ch 2, ch 3, ch 4, ch 5
words: 2162
warnings: homophobic / racial slurs (Henry Bowers, basically)
BEN Hanscom was a patient person. If anyone was to describe him, that was the word to use.
But when his yearlong friend, Richie Tozier, showed up at the quarry an entire hour late with six more people than expected, Ben’s patience was being tested.
“What the hell, Richie?” was Eddie Kaspbrak’s greeting to the boy, and he smiled sarcastically, showing off his slightly over-large incisors.
“Well ya see Eds, I was busy sayin’ goodbye to your mom and I lost track of the time-”
“Beep beep, Richie,” Eddie and his group of friends chorused, used to the antics of their trashmouth friend.
“What’s with the entourage?” Stan asked from his spot on a nearby rock, which he had taken to sitting on for the last half hour of waiting. The group of silent kids behind Richie shuffled, and Ben watched as a kid with wildly curly hair exchanged glances with a tall black boy.
Said boy spoke up, seeming to take leadership. “We’re friends of Mike, Richie’s cousin.” The boy motioned to another, who looked very much like Richie.
“Well, friends and cousins of Richie, welcome!” Beverly said from next to Bill, flashing a smile toward them. A couple of the strangers reciprocated, the curly haired kid and a girl with brown hair just as wild.
The air fell silent after that as everyone yook in the faces of new, and Ben did as well. There was also a girl with vivid red hair that could rival Bev’s, the long tresses pulled back into a ponytail. Next to the boy who looked like Richie (Mike, Ben was proud to remember) stood a kid with round eyes and a wary smile, his hair framing his face in a flattering way. A bird chirped and Stan’s head turned to the sound.
Surprisingly, Bill was the person to break the awkward silence. He motioned to the redhead’s shirt and asked, “Y-you like Eh-Eh-Elvis?”
She seemed to ignore his obvious stutter. “Yeah, I love him. You too?”
“Oh, I c-can never s-s-st-s-stop lis-listening to h-h-hi-him! The Losers ah-are always ann-an-annoyed at me,” He beamed. “Oh, and I d-d-do-don’t buh-buh-believe I caught your nuh-nuh-name.” She opened her mouth to speak as the curly kid beat her to it.
“She’s Max. I’m Dustin. And did you just call your friends ‘losers?’” Ben noted that some of his teeth seemed to be missing, and he had a slight lisp.
“It’s what we call ourselves,” Ben spoke up, and he felt slightly uncomfortable with so many new pairs of eyes focused on him. “The bullies called us ‘Losers,’ so we took the name as our own.”
“Original,” Max spoke up. “Our bullies just call us—”
Richie cleared his throat loudly, not in a way to get something out of it, but to draw attention to himself. “Uh, hello? Less chatty-chatty, more swimmy-swimmy? Come on fuckers, we’re losing daylight!” Richie strode over to the side of the cliff before anyone could point out to him that they had hours to swim.
“Wait, you’re gonna jump off of that?” Mike spoke up, a shake to his voice. He exchanged glances with Dustin and the unnamed girl, and Ben sensed that they had a story to tell from it.
“What’s wrong, Micycle, ‘fraid of heights?” Then he said quieter, “If he shits himself, it’ll be hilarious.”
“No, I’m not! I just
 um
it’s a long story,” Mike defended himself.
“Probably about the diving board to the public pool, amiright?”
“Shut up, Richie. Not the time.” Eddie rolled his eyes.
Bill put a reassuring touch to Mike’s arm. “Do-don’t worry, Muh-Mih-Mike, we’ve all done it be-before. It’s perfectly safe.”
“But—”
“It’ll be fine, Mike. See? Watch.” Max pushed past Richie and took a large leap into the water. Everyone ran to watch her fall, and she let out a “Woo!” as she disrupted the water with a satisfyingly large splash.
“Holy shit!” Richie exclaimed. “That was really hot. Is she single?” Richie cringed away as Lucas punched him in the arm. The unnamed girl shook her head and jumped after Max. “Holy shit, is she single?”
“Beep-fucking-beep, asshole.”
“Aw, come on, Eds. I’m just asking a question you all know you wanted answered.”
Stan shook his head, the curls bouncing along. “Weren’t you hung up on Eddie’s mother ten minutes ago?”
“The past is in the past, Stan-the-Man.”
Ben looked at the others. “Wanna jump?”
Dustin grinned, his cheeks pulled up and his eyes crinkling. “Thought you’d never ask.”
Everyone’s feet left rock and flew through the air into the water, multiple cries of “Holy shit!” and “Woo-hoo!” being shouted into the air.
Ben did a head count, and, coming up two short, he looked back up at the cliff.
Two tiny figures stood, and Ben could see the dark hair and pale skin even from a height like that.
Richie and Mike seemed to be arguing, hands waving and voices carrying down the cliff, although Ben couldn’t decipher what they were saying. Ben saw hands connect a chest, and one of them came flailing down the cliff with a strangled “I’M GONNA KILL YOU, RICHARD!” The second figure followed, and Max gargled on water as she let out a laugh when Mike hit the water.

Lots of water-splashing and chicken-fighting ensued after that, and the twelve kids took to lounging on the rocks as they dried off and music from Richie’s boombox filled the air.
“So
what brings you guys to Derry?”
Stan had known about Richie’s family situation, as he had complained to them over and over since he’d gotten the news. He (and the rest of the Losers) had no idea as to why they had come.
“My mom,” Mike had spoken up. “She wanted to visit her sister and my entire family was dragged along.”
“Yeah, and we didn’t want him to be alone all summer,” Lucas elaborated.
“Sorry Rich,” Bev turned to the boy with magnified eyes, “if you have to leave for the summer, we’re ditching you.” Richie glared and everyone cracked a smile.
The air fell silent again, save the boombox blasting one of Richie’s many mixtapes.
“Is it true that Derry has twice the average amount of deaths than the national average?” Dustin burst out randomly, as if he was waiting to pop the question all day. The losers’ heads turned to Ben, knowing he was the library feel out of all of them.
“No, actually. It's six times.” Dustin's eyes widened, like a little kid that got what they wanted for Christmas.
“Totally tubular,” he smiled at Lucas and Max, although nobody else seemed to get the joke.

On the walk back, Eddie has a feeling of something being
off. When he asked Bev, she just shrugged, saying, “You always feel like something's off, Ed. I bet it's nothing,” and she pushed his shoulder in a sisterly manner.
“She really think shes gonna come outta that school?” Eddie turned at Stan's voice, his gaze fixed on a lone woman sitting on the steps of the empty school, hopping up peeking through the doors as if waiting for someone who was late.
“What? Who’s ‘she?’” the short boy, Eddie learned who was named Will, wondered.
“Betty Ripsom,” Beverly said to him. “She went missing a few weeks ago. That's her mom over there.”
“It's as if she’s been locked in a janitor’s closet for the last few weeks,” Eddie muttered, looking at the mother who was hiding on to a nonexistent thread of hope that her daughter was lost at school, that's all.
“Do you think they're actually gonna find her?” Stan spoke aloud to the silent group.
“Sure,” Richie started, and Eddie prepared himself for an offensive comment. “In a ditch, all decomposed, covered in worms and maggots and smelling like Eddie's mom's underwear.” Richie motioned to Eddie, who shivered at the idea.
“Shut up, this is freaking disgusting.” Eddie shook his head to rid himself of the image, filled with millions of deadly bacteria.
“She's not dead, she’s mm-meh-missing,” Bill said defensively, glaring at the bespectacled boy.
“Sorry, Bill,” Richie apologized, his extra-large eyes seeming to come into focus as he adjusted his glasses. “She's missing.”
Eddie was surprised. The only other times he'd heard Richie apologize was once to the principal for selling candy from his locker (after his mother forced him to), and once to a streetlight that he thought was a person after he ran into it. It was a thing of Richie's: he just didn't apologize to things because he usually didn't feel sorry.
But of course, Bill was always sort of treated a little like glass since what happened in October
Eddie still remembered the phone call and how Bill had to hand the phone to his mother because he was stuttering so badly.
“They’ll find her,” the curly-haired girl said, and Eddie was startled to realize this was the first time he’d heard her speak. She had a soft voice, and it reminded Eddie of a warm cabin in the woods that he had never been to before. She spoke with a sort of certainty to her voice that made it sound like she knew Betty personally, and had seen her. It was quite calming.
“Should we tell her about the shoe?” Ben was still staring at the mother, who glanced at the group before turning back to the school.
“What shoe? Did you guys find something?” Lucas asked, furrowing his eyebrows.
“W-we were in the ss-sew-sewers yesterday,” Bill explained. “Looking f-for
” he took a deep breath, “no one.”
“‘Looking for no one.’ Wow, that’s not sinister sounding at all.” The redheaded Max shook her head as Lucas nudged her in the arm. She sighed. “Sorry.”
“Is that how you guys spend your summer?” Dustin asked, crunching down a granola bar that Eddie didn’t know how he got. “Inside of sewers?”
Richie was silent for a heartbeat before, “Beats spending it inside of your mother. Ohhh.” He raised his arm for a high-five to Stan, who grabbed it and yanked it down.
“Woah,” Mike said, looking at something Eddie couldn’t see, “Nice car.”
They all turned, spotting a blue Trans Am, and Eddie’s face paled. “W-we should get outta here.”
“Why, Kaspbrak?” a sneering voice spoke. “’Fraid you’ll go missing too?” Eddie turned around, spotting Henry Bowers standing just a few feet in front of the group. How he managed to sneak up on them, Eddie had no idea, and he sometimes wondered if he had the ability to teleport.
Riche let out a choking sound as the back of his shirt was yanked backwards, and he fell spectacularly into Stan, where they both landed on the ground with an almighty “oof.”
A large belch sounded right next to Eddie’s ear, and he cringed away from the sound and the hot breath, gagging as the boy, Belch Huggins, let out a big laugh.
“Knew he was a bottom,” Patrick said as Richie tried to get up off of Stan, and Victor Criss, another one of Henry’s goons, pushed him back down. Patrick kicked Stan in the arm. “Fuckin’ flamer!”
“And who have we here?” Henry said, looking toward Lucas, who had a scowl set on his face. Eddie wouldn’t put it past him that he would punch Henry if he had the chance. “You seem far from home, dontcha, Midnight?”
“Eat shit.”
“Oh, you think you’re all high ‘n’ mighty, don’t ya?” Henry said in that menacing voice of his. “Newsflash, kid: you don’t belong here. Stay out of this town. Or you’ll deserve what’s comin’ for ya.”
“Hmm, what else’ve we got here?” Victor seemed to have snuck up behind Max, and he had a handful of her hair in his fingers. She yanked herself away from him, turning around and stepping on his toes.
“Leave her alone!” Dustin said angrily. Henry’s gaze turned to him, and Dustin’s bravery seemed to melt.
“You seem to be missin’ a couple ’a teeth there, Curly. Shut up if you don’t want to lose some more.”
“Ss-sss-sshut it, Bowers!” Bill said angrily, his mouth seeming to not agree with his words as he spit them out. Henry turned around slowly, that threatening look back in his eyes.
“You suh-suh-say somethin’, Buh-Buh-Buh-Billy?” he strode over to the boy until they were inches apart. “Yeh got a free ride this year ‘cause ‘a your little brother. Ride’s over, Denbrough.”
Eddie knew he was going to do something horrible like he always did, but a police cruiser had rode down the street, slowing down while going by the kids. His father, Eddie thought to himself.
“This summer’s gonna be a hurt train. For you and your faggot friends.” He walked away and toward Belch Huggins’ car, but not before licking his hand and wiping it on Bill’s face.
The kids all watched them ride off.
“Wish he’d go missing,” Richie commented.
“He’s probably the one doing it,” Eddie said thoughtfully.
