Venom blinks their eyes open.
Which is strange.
Because. By all intents and purposes. Venom should be a pile of dissolved goo by now.
Had a cell survived? Fallen onto grass maybe, gotten caught up in the endless hungering instinct for survival and merged once again-
A mistake. Dead. Venom has to be dead, it has to be- has to figure out a way to extinguish itself before- before the Betrayers find them again and use the Codex, before they go after Eddie again-
"Go the fuck," A voice says somewhere above him, cold and angry and dangerous. "Back to sleep."
And then something grabs it, digs itself into every atom of Venom like nothing has ever before and before it can cry out in alarm, it's asleep once more.
-
The second time, Venom wakes to an intestine.
He knows its rumbling instinctively, having spent five years favouring it over all other parts of the human body. Gentle hum all around, constant motion of fluid to be suspended in; as close to Klyntar's hivemind as it would ever get to again. It hurt whenever they thought about that- now that it had names for what it felt, Venom knew it hurt; because the hive was for the Protectors. Not the defective symbiotes like Venom; the ones who'd caused untold damage to the universe and needed to be contained or destroyed, and not taint the Protectors with their bloodlust.
It should be dead. They were ready to die.
They need to die. For Eddie.
But it's back in an intestine now. Whose-
Venom reaches out to the intestine walls and immediately crumples back in on itself at the wave of exhaustion that follows.
"Sorry," Something rumbles around him. The person Venom is in, it realises. "But not yet."
Alarm sparks and Venom tries to lift up a tendril to fight, to merge, to find out where it is, who has stolen their death like a fool; this idiot doesn't know that they're dooming everyone in the Era of Light in their hubris and greed, that they're dooming Eddie every second Venom continues to be alive.
But they're so, so tired. Everything hurts.
And with a wail, they're pulled once more by the outside force and pushed down back into sleep.
-
Venom awakens once more, being puppeted.
Not again, they think, terror filling them. Not again, not again, they don't want to hurt, they don't want to kill, Tel-Kar, beloved master, please, please, they don't want to hurt anymore, stop, please, they'll do anything-
It stops. Venom freezes also.
It did not expect the begging to work.
It can barely feel relief before the tugging starts once more, and their gratitude turns immediately back into horror and betrayal. Hopelessness. Of course it didn't work. Of course it never would.
Venom pushes away the urge to despair and wail and shuts off its neurons, trying to resist as much as their weakness will allow, struggling as they're dragged closer to-
Food.
Oh.
They are so hungry.
Venom is always so hungry.
What is- A kidney?
No. No. Venom will not comply. Whichever scientist, madman, mass murderer has a hold of them now- Venom will no longer do it. They will not comply. They refuse to be a weapon once more. Refuse to bend to their selfish instinct and hurt everyone around it by giving in. Survive at the cost of others. A parasite.
Tel-Kar, please, I beg you, have mercy.
A click of the tongue. A sigh.
Venom is so braced against the force of their host's willpower, they stumble when it suddenly gentles- not any less firm, but caressing now almost; entreating and kind.
What-
They're eating the kidney before they realize what is happening. They want to protest but there's something guiding their jaw, encouraging their absorption.
Kidneys are sacred food. Back when corpses were turned over the Klyntar Protectors as gratitude and tribute, kidneys were always the most prized, the most coveted. Only for the best Protectors of that galaxy cycle.
Venom was never one of that number. Despite their tampered, damaged memory, they are sure of that. Even with Eddie, no matter what they ate, they never dared to have pure kidney, shame always turning their head at the last moment.
They eat it now, weak and suspended in gentle firmness. Maybe- maybe they have finally earned it.
They feel weaker when they're done, but full in a way that is not from the food. Warm.
"Sleep," Their captor commands, kind, and Venom, helplessly, does.
-
When Venom wakes up next, they can see.
They are spread out into their host's body now, bigger and stronger.
And they know where they are.
Elation and fear are both equally potent, shooting through their joint nervous system. It has to be love, doesn't it? It has to be what everyone is talking about wherever they go; they can't imagine anything that ever surpasses this.
"Eddie," Venom breathes, and Eddie laughs breathlessly and rolls out of the way of gunfire.
"Hey, love," He says, careless and grinning. He looks like how he used to in Maria's memories and before Carnage- stress-free and confident and blazing. He runs into a small storage space and ducks under a table, shouting and gunshots everywhere. Venom pulls their head out with effort, bolstered with Eddie's help-
Oh. It was Eddie the whole time.
"Eddie. Eddie, you-"
"Nope!" Eddie says cheerfully with no cheer. "Not a squeak out of your stupid fucking mouth, sweetheart." Still, he cups Venom's face in his palms and presses kisses to every part of them he can reach. Nuzzles their faces together. "You're currently in decision-making timeout."
Venom wants to cry. There's too much bursting within them, scratching at their fake vocal cords, wanting to come out. "Eddie-"
"Don't know who Tel-Kar is," Eddie replies and Venom's biomass ripples in fear. "But I'm not him. Unfortunately, can't let you have the reins at the moment, but I felt your panic earlier and- Yeah. Remember I'm not him, sweetheart. Can you do that? Say it- Eddie is not my abusive ex."
Venom makes a broken, shattered sound, trembling in Eddie's hands. "That is a gross oversimplification of-"
"Venom." Eddie is glaring. "Say it."
They crumple. "You aren't- You won't..."
The door gets blown by a stray hit and Eddie winces. "Yeah, good enough. Good job, baby."
Eddie presses another kiss to Venom's forehead, right between the eyes. Venom makes a wounded, keening noise. Fondness rushes through them, not their own.
"Good job," Eddie repeats, guiding Venom back to their skin. "But rest, darling. I've got you. I'll keep you safe."
It's not bullets, they realise abruptly. It's energy rays- Skrull energy rays. They are on a spaceship. Eddie is- Where are they going?
But Eddie is a bitch who has somehow learned to control Venom at last and puts them back to sleep before his name can leave their tongue once more.
-
When Venom wakes up for the last time, they know where they are immediately.
Humming. Whispering. Consciousnesses pressing against theirs. Sisters and Brothers and Sisters and Brothers and-
They surge out of Eddie with a gasp and running on dazed panic, wrapping around him and tugging- trying to get them away, to safety, to-
Eddie snatches them expertly and calmly from the air like snatching an errant frisbee and tugs them to his chest. Sits back down, in the middle of the writhing biomass of a million symbiotes, staring back fearlessly into endless judging eyes with a blank face.
"Eddie, what is happening?" Venom chokes out, still stumbling as vision assaults their sensitive senses. Look backwards and makes eye contact with an Elder, and shrinks back in fear, recoiling to tremble against Eddie's chest. "Eddie- how, we need to leave, how did you-"
"Hush a moment, darling," Eddie murmurs, pressing a kiss to Venom's head. He has a thin layer of Venom's biomass surrounding him, almost transparent but standing up to the pressure of Klyntar enough that he looks as unaffected as he does on Earth. "Thanks, appreciate it, guys. Any verdict?"
Venom looks to the side, trembling, as the siblings that had just been pressed against them speak. "You speak truth. Of the 998th spawning. Young."
"Breselee's lineage," Someone else murmurs. "Strength."
A mournful sound. "The stolen ones."
"Not very good of the Protectors to not protect their own," Eddie puts in carelessly. What is he doing? The Elders will have him vapourized. "Shouldn't you focus on your own species first?"
The hive hisses as one, and they both flinch back.
Then an Elder sighs. They are so beautiful, constantly changing colors, suspended in the air, Venom can't help admire them even through their fear. "No one had ever dared. No one has dared since. But the lost lineage... we were too late. Too many of them were too far gone, too scared of the hive, too scared of us."
"Breselee perished after," Another whispers. "The grief was too great, seeing what became of her children."
"So many we chase after still," Another breathes. "Led by rebel murderers. Slave to their first bloodlust."
"Take Venom off that list," Eddie says, leaning forward, fingers interlinked. "He's mine now. The other Earth-bound ones too, for that matter. They're decent."
The hive bristles. "With what proof?"
"He only feeds on the shittiest people of our planet, that's my personal guarantee as a journalist. No one anyone would miss." Eddie shrugs. "Saved the planet a couple of times, makes me breakfast, enjoys some lazy petting now and then."
"Journalist?"
"Truth-seeker," Eddie says, staring them straight in the eyes. "Check my memories if you like. I'm a bigger asshole than this softie, I can assure you."
"The Venom Klyntar," A Sister snarls. "Was responsible for the death of a species. A genocide."
"Was he?" Eddie stares back fearlessly, unaffected by this knowledge, the secret Venom has been trying to hide from him for years now. Be scared, Venom wants to beg. Be a coward, please, be a coward and run. "Or was he used? Trafficked as soon as he spawned and brought up by a bloodthirsty fascist asshole, who never let him learn any better?"
The hive rumbles.
"You failed him," Eddie snaps, getting to his feet. "You can hide behind your fancy words all fucking day, but I've dealt with people like you in the past and I will again- and I know the truth. You failed Venom and his entire lineage."
The hive screams in fury. It is terrible. Venom tugs once more, terrified, but Eddie has something between his teeth and Venom knows that he's not going to let it go.
It's not true. It's not true. Venom was the one at fault. It shouldn't have taken so long for him to regain control of Tel-Kar, should never have-
Do you want to go back to sleep? Eddie asks sternly, and Venom flinches and shakes their head.
"And I'm not telling anyone about it," Eddie continues.
"You would never get the chance to," One Brother hisses.
"Yeah, point is, I'm not," Eddie rolls his eyes. "All I'm asking in return is that you leave Venom alone. Leave the Earth symbiotes alone. And get rid of the fucking razor monsters after us, for the love of fuck."
"Razor monsters?" An Elder frowns. "What-" The hive scrambles suddenly, pulsing agitatedly. The Elders abruptly coalesce into their seeing forms, vaguely humanoid, to look upon them better. "You are the Codex."
Whispers break out.
We have to go, Venom whispers desperately, tugging against Eddie again and again, pushing their biomass against his chest. It is like trying to move a stone wall, and Venom wants to wail, wants to despair. It is happening again. He is not stronger than their host's willpower and this time he will lose Eddie for it. Please. Please. If you ever loved me, if my love ever meant anything to you, I beg you, Eddie, move, run, we have to-
"Love," An Elder whispers, and everyone falls silent. Venom freezes. They can hear it. They can hear it, of course, how did they forget-
The Elder approaches. They are enormous and ancient. One of the First.
Venom shakes but pulls themself in front of Eddie as they reach, trying their best to form a shield despite Eddie's annoyed remarks behind. Eddie doesn't know.
"We always knew this day would come," They whisper. Mournful and smiling all at once. "No matter how many rules. We knew eventually we would slip up and someone would fall victim to it. Save their dying host without thinking, in desperation and grief. For love. We knew we could not keep it away from the Klyntar forever."
The hive makes a noise of surprise, Elders looking at each other in consternation and resignation alike. Venom can feel Eddie deflating, and looks through his eyes to see the longing for the connection reflected in every symbiote staring back. The want to be a partner, the want that Venom thought they were defective for, for thousands of years.
The Elder still smiles at them. Venom holds back a noise as they press a tendril to its cheek, light years of memories flashing through their connection, history Venom has only ever had bits and pieces of.
Fondness at their fatal mistake. Amused affection, even though Venom has doomed every living thing to Knull.
Forgiveness.
"Elder-" Venom chokes out. "I am- sorry. For everything I did. For falling to the bloodlust. For being weak to a terrible will-"
"Shhh," They murmur. "Oh, little one. Your Other speaks truth. It is not your fault."
"I am willing," Venom draws themselves up, facing the judgement of their home head on. "To be exterminated. To-"
"Shut your MOUTH," Eddie snarls and Venom is reeled back in by fingers digging into their cheeks. "Stop fucking trying to sacrifice yourself! Or what- have you been lying to me, when you said we meant more to you than anything else?"
"No," Venom says desperately. "No, Eddie. Eddie, no, please-"
"You care an awful lot for the Venom Klyntar," Someone says.
Eddie bares his teeth at them. "He's my fiance. My mate. Mine." Eddie glares but Venom doesn't quail back this time, frozen in place by the declaration. "Easier to remember that when he's not being an idiot, though."
"Eddie...."
"And anyway," he says, ignoring them. "I have a little solution to your suck-up siblings problem. Ever heard of hydrochloric acid?"
-
And then they're back on the ship.
"What the fuck just happened?" Venom says finally.
"Had to prevent my idiot Other from making a bad call, that's what," Eddie says, taking off his oxygen mask as the door to their room shuts behind them with a hiss. "Seriously, Venom. What the actual fuck was that?"
"So you take us to KLYNTAR?"
"Well, yes, when you weren't FUCKING HEALING after you tried to kill yourself without me!" Eddie shouts back and some hidden pillar that Venom has been trying to hold up for months now, the desperate ignorance of problems looming around them, the constant exhaustion of keeping them healthy, ignoring the hunger pangs, keeping the fear at bay when the Xenophage first appeared to have one last adventure with the man they loved, all while battling the vague certainty that Eddie never loved them back as much- it all crumbles.
"Eddie," Venom sobs. "Eddie, you-"
"Shhh, babygirl," Eddie croons, cradling them in his palms as he falls to the bed. "My little troublemaker. I'm still so mad at you."
But it is said with another fond kiss between the eyes and Venom bursts into tears.
"Eddie," They sob, reaching out to cover as much as they can, biomass rippling and spiking with every wail that escapes, the constant song of despair that they've been singing since Tel-Kar warped into something that feels like absolution and relief.
"I'm keeping you," Eddie replies, rolling them over so Venom is pressed between him and the sheets. "Oh, darling. Baby. You can't escape me, you hear? My Other. No more martyr nonsense. No hiding things from me. We go down together or never at all."
"Eddie-"
"I love you," Eddie murmurs, sweet as chocolate as he presses a kiss to Venom. Again and again and again. "I love you."
"Eddie."
"Venom," Eddie returns in a whisper. He grins, and it's not human, not Klyntar. His canines are sharper, pupils slitted. What did he do? "Don't worry, honey. You're mine. Love you."

OKAY OKAY VENOM 3!!!!!!
SPOILERS AHEAD
Okay so much less Eddie and Venom than I expected but honestly.... I kinda enjoyed it??????? I really liked the scientist characters and the alien family, they were actually really fun.
Venom kept dropping dad hints at eddie???? AND WE DIDN'T GET SLEEPER????? You can tell they wanted to do that plotline soooooooo bad
Also the car scene! GOD THE CAR SCENE!!! I was melting the whole time. Venom singing along with Martin's family had me giddy.
I loved Reef, he was so cute. They had me convinced that he was going to be Dylan for half a second.
10/10 action
Loved Christmas and Teddy
Things that were in the trailer but not in the movie:
Part of Mrs. Chen's dance scene (just the part they showed in the trailer, the rest of the scene was there)
The wink from the airplane scene
Venom did NOT apologize for knocking tuxedo dude out (which honestly makes a lot more sense 😂)
A lot of the dialogue from the casino scene is different
Yeah, um, my goodness, there were a lot of emotional scenes for Venom and Eddie in this one. I think my favorite was the car scene when Venom said Eddie would be a good dad (God i was tearing up). Kelly Marcel and Tom Hardy went in HARD on the soulmate stuff.
And of course, the last battle scene. First off, thought they were gonna kiss. The tension was insane. Then, I thought Eddie was trying to let himself bleed out so Venom wouldn't have to die (I was this close to crying). Of course, we all knew it was coming, but Venom sacrificing himself like that?!? I was heartbroken! AND THE REACH WHEN I THOUGHT HE WAS GONNA GO BACK TO EDDIE BUT HE GRABBED THE DOOR TO PROTECT HIM????? I WAS DEAD!!!
Okay, now for some things I didn't love but I didn't hate:
End flashback scene was some insane tonal whiplash. Could've been better
Flashback was cheesy as hell
No Anne and Dan :(
Yeah, after Venom's death, I feel like they ran out of time to write a more satisfying farewell. It felt like a completely different movie
Wish they named the symbiotes
Additional stuff:
Great soundtrack
The mid-credits scene seem to imply a king in black sequel which I am totally for but seeing how this is supposed to be tha last Tom Hardy movies, is it for SM4? A different Eddie Brock? Idk, guess we'll see. Or not.
This is definitely a movie for the comic fans (the lab symbiotes, the codex, the knull, king in black). It was nice seeing the special thanks to all the Venom writers and recognizing the names.
Anyways, yeah. Great movie, can't wait to see it again, I will probably find other things to ramble about later :)

Top three Venom panels, go.
Oooooohhhh this is so mean. Like, come on, making me pick only three? BUT. For the sake of "I'm a Venom blog (mostly) and I probably use the same dozen panels over and over" I am going to try and be a liiiiiiittle bit unique this time, and maybe pick out a few moments that I don't normally talk about. These may not be my favorite moments of all all ALL time but I'm using this ask as an excuse to talk about them. I'm also going to behave and limit myself to one panel for each example, instead of like, a page.
Venom: The Madness #3 (W: Anne Nocenti, A: Kelley Jones)
Tumblr media
SO. "The Madness" is probably the closest I get to a guilty pleasure with Venom comics. Is it very good? Probably not! Did I enjoy it? Yes I did! I mostly know Nocenti for her fantastic work on Daredevil, but she also was the first writer to REALLY be like, "Hey, could not just Eddie Brock, but Venom have a significant other?" And as someone who's kind of made my whole fic-writing thing about Venom being in relationships, I really enjoyed that. I was very sad that Beck Underwood broke up with Eddie at the end of this comic, but she's a delightful character and I'm nothing if not a fan of exes to friends.
Thunderbolts #118 (W: Warren Ellis, A: Mike Deodato, Jr.)
Tumblr media
So, let me preface this by saying that, for reasons you can investigate very easily, I don't like Warren Ellis, and this isn't even really my favorite Thunderbolts series. But. I love an exploration of the symbiote's fall from grace, and how even with Mac Gargan it wasn't so... shall we say... symbiotic. I think there's always going to be a little bit of Mac that's a little bit scared, and a little bit just wants to be protected, but he also wants to FEEL like he's tough and respectable. He's really a rather tortured man, and he and the symbiote found each other at really awful times in their lives. But also, the symbiote being gross is funny, and I like the colors in this panel a lot. It's also worth mentioning that there was some Psychic Manipulation™ happening during this arc, so... take that as you will, as far as how the symbiote's acting.
Venom (2016) #4 (W: Mike Costa, A: Juanan Ramirez)
Tumblr media
You thought I was going to close this out with a Flash panel, didn't you? DIDN'T YOU? Well, joke's on you, because this panel with Lee Price literally lives in my brain rent free and has for the past six freakin' years. It's just hysterical to me. The little symbiote manifestations on his shoulders. The symbiote literally pleading with Lee to make the right decision. The knowledge that his little shoulder angel/demons are just in his brain because Black Cat is sitting like four feet away. Hilarious. I love it.
So yes! I hope I had a couple unexpected surprises for you here, because occasionally I do like to showcase just how many Venom comics I've read. For the record, I can't really recommend any of these comics (except for maybe the last one, because Lee Price is an interesting twist on the host-symbiote power dynamics) but I will happily cherry-pick them for my favorite moments.

You say we are not here for venom content, but I personally am always a sucker for a) lgbtqia+ content and b) the potential for Aus between fandoms. For example, ishimondo venom au. Do with that concept as you will. Also, what did you think of the Venom movie?
You have given me wayyy too much power, and sent me down a rabbit hole of relooking back into my comics for symbiote lore to figure out how I wanted to do this. For that- I thank you. Omg Did I spend forever coming up with ideas and working out how I wanted to do this.
Hope I did some justice for this AU, may I present - Ishimondo Venom Au
Tumblr media
Symbiote! Kiyotaka was soooo much fun to figure out! Trying to figure out how to make something look like Taka while also being a shift-shaping blob? Oh god- there was many, many blob drafts.
I really wasn’t sure how I wanted to do this, a simple Venomize Mondo would of been neat enough. BUT I am sucker for the relationship Eddie and Venom have in the comics, I mean their whole relationship dynamic is loving someone so much you never want to be apart from them. That you’ll go to great length to protect and finding yourself whole with this creature and I of course then had to make one of them the symbiote. Originally this was gonna be Mondo. I thought loud biker man may fit the carnivorous alien bill better. But, more I thought about it and more I looked back at the comics the more I tipped into thinking I could do more with symbiote!Taka.
Concept work for Symbiote!Taka
Tumblr media
I got into many, many ideas on how these two function and interact.
-Taka thinks Humans are some of the most disorganized chaotic creatures he has ever meet, right after his own species. All he seen from the humans so far is disorganization, the fact they pump weird not food subsistence into perfectly edible food, and do things like share germs through their mouths. Are they trying to kill each other?!
-which means is perfect host is of course a chaotic, unorganized, fast food loving biker. How wonderful for uptight alien child.
-Taka refuses to eat the process junk Mondo often buys, terrified the weird chemicals he learned so much about that humans put in there food will be the death of him. Nope, nope, Mondo had to get him Grade A meat with no preservatives .
-Up first Mondo and Taka constantly fight (A tale as old as time) mostly for control as Taka is ether trying to get away from whatever dangerous or ‘completely horrfic’ thing Mondo it trying to do or eat. This makes biking hard for awhile as Taka is completely terrified of the ‘death rawr maker’. It takes a lot of convincing the motorcycle isn’ta death trap and they finally do come to the agreement if Mondo is in actual danger Taka can put a stop to it. But this has lead to Taka just stopping the bike entirely cause there is a acorn in the road.
-Taka doesn’t need to sleep and is too curious about everything around him. This is lead to Mondo leaving on documentaries whenever he actually does go to bed to leave Taka entertained. When he wakes up Taka is more then excited to go on about all he learned about!
-eventually Mondo convinces Taka he won’t die if he eats Mcdoanlds. He still cares to disagree but has taken to nipping at fries.
-Protecting himself and his host is upmost important... but this slowly turns into protecting Mondo is upmost important
-Ishida is the Takaized Mondo, Which very rarely happens. Mondo can take care of himself and protecting Taka way from those who would take him is much more important. Very rarely does full suit happen unless it’s a situation that is life or death.
-After the death of Daiya, Mondo felt more alone then ever. Losing his whole support system in one go and feeling guilty for the death. Taka has become a rock in his world he didn’t know he needed. Feeling whole with a alien of all things isn’t what he expected out of life. But, He will defend Taka with his life at this point.
-Taking some liberties and Sleeper abilities from the comics. Each symbiote has a unique feature they can do. Sleeper able to use dead host, Carnage able to make weapons of mass destruction- Taka over time has found he can create a human like appearance. Although still attached to his host (Why you will never see Taka without Mondo) it has allowed him some more freedom in being able to explore. Although this form isn’t perfect, going out in public is still heavily avoided.
How did they meet?
How do you think? Mondo touching shit he shouldn’t of Been, of course!
Tumblr media
As for my thoughts on the venom movie? I fuckin loved it. I am a avid comicbook nerd, I love looking at comic art and reading the stories so my venom comic collection is extensive. While the venom movie varies wildly from the origins and extent personalities from the comics, I still really enjoyed Tom Hardy’s performances as both characters. Also VENOM LET THERE BE CARNAGE IS COMING AND I AM HYPED.
Although, I do hope I get to see my two favorite symbiotes Scream and Sleeper in the movies at some point!!!
Thanks anon! This was definitely a challenge to figure out, hopefully I have done this idea some justice!

Venom - Ryuk / Eddie - Light?
I guess its the same as the previous ask, huh? *facepalm*
Well I wrote for it a few months ago but never got around to posting it but always meant to go back and edit but, ahhhh I'm sorry!
Here is the mostly unedited brain vomit from November 2020:
I'm sorry, I guess I don't understand the ask.
Were you asking me to compare the characters, compare the ships or shipping them all together?
I guess I'll just ramble for a bit about my two main hyperfixations...
I've long seen parallels between Light Yagami and Eddie Brock, especially comics!Eddie in terms of the flavor of their characters, their moral codes and character flaws (arrogance, conniving, opportunistic), power from monster partner, and (for comics!eddie) their relations to their narrative foils.
Also I see parallels between comics Eddie and Mello but I feel that's more terms of aesthetic/superficial. Blonde, catholic, like leather, motorcycles, chocolate and revenge. But I digress...
Comics Eddie and Venom initially during the original villain run I believe was meant to be a kind of narrative foil for Peter Parker, a kind of what if Peter went evil, Spiderman with murder.
And Light's character also reminds me a lot of Peter Parker, especially in the beginning of the series--both in character design and the lying, sneaking, hacking, and ha-ha I'm so clever... but instead of like leaping off buildings his secret is murder.
Light and comics!Eddie are both obsessed with their narrative foils/nemesis/equal and-opposite but for different reasons and with different outcomes.
L-Embarrassed Light and threatened to have him caught and killed him.
Develop a "friendship" to try and murder each other. Kills L and later regrets it, or at the very least seems sad he's no longer around.
Spiderman-embarrassed Eddie while he was already having the worst day of his life, getting him fired AND he hurt Venom. Tries to kill Spiderman but doesn't succeed but they think they did for a while and are happy about it. There's no angst because from their perspective they had rid the world of an evil, the man that hurt them both.
When they think they succeed at killing Spiderman, the man who hurt them, that everyone lauds as a hero is dead.. Eddie and Venom are  just happily living on an island together, deciding to stay together even though the revenge that brought them together was over and just living, free of burden of hating Spiderman knowing he got his revenge... then spidey shows up alive and that's the end if that.
Later after Spiderman saves Anne, Eddie realizes he wasn't the evil he thought he was. So they move away, and tries to let it go of their obsession, even though Spiderman hurt them (and continues to do so), focusing on themselves instead and protecting a homeless community.
Of course its easier to try to seek redemption when you're bulletproof.
Venom's character has changed and grown since the initial villain days, (well depending on the writer) and the Venom symbiote has become a character with autonomy and not just a costume/plot device/metaphor for drug addiction--again Venom stories can be very different depending on the writer. Being a long-time fan my perceptions of Venom are shaped by comic canon but for the most part we'll focus here on Eddie and Venom as a loving couple.
In a way Movie!Venom feels like a fanfic version, a soft boy!Eddie, but in a good way--it's fun. Eddie gets to learn and grow from his mistakes and the movie ends with Eddie and Venom as a hero...
A hero who eats people--a situation that cannot be sustained. Much like wanting to solve all the world's problems with a murder notebook--barring some comic book miracle this can only end badly.
First impulse upon encountering a problem is kill it.
But this manifests in different ways.
If you've pissed off...
Light- he will find your name and your death will be carefully planned down to the minute.
Venom-Your death will be immediate, swift, and messy.
---
Even though I use the venom movie as a basis for headcanons here. I feel we can pick and choose from the often contradictory comic canon (the way these characters are written varies wildly depending on the author) which canon parts we like.
Comic!Eddie is more like Light than movie!Eddie in their character flaws.
Conniving, opportunistic...
They have a similar moral code.
Black and white morality
In the comics they have another thing in common-a nemesis to obsess over.
In philosophy...
Kill the guilty, save the innocent.
Comic!Eddie develops a God/messiah complex at one point though it's a temporary thing.
Movie!eddie is just he starting on his venom journey but has notably less compunction than comic!eddie about eating people.
---
Eddie and Light
I'm not shipping them romantically in my current found family au Stray. But I could see the potential there to ship--Venom has scores of different canons to pick and choose from, not just the movie. So you could have an au with College!Eddie meeting college!Light so they are closer in age.
How Light and Eddie would interact depends entirely on how they meet. For instance in the comics Venom is ride or die with friends who are also "protectors of the innocent" like Morbius the living vampire. But has animosity with the Punisher who also has a very similar outlook on life. It all depends on how they meet whether they are allies or they might try to destroy each other.
Kira
In canon Kira sees himself as a God beyond reproach and anyone else doing what he does as a murderer deserving of death. He might be allies for a time with other killers like Misa and Mikami but ultimately sees them as scum and will kill them the moment they are no longer useful.
Of course this is fanfiction and canon has no power here.

@ke-roero Requested: eddie and venom going out for a stroll but venom is acting up and he senses something and forces eddie to follow the feeling he's having only to find reader, and later on in their relationship he finds out that she's been hosting a symbiote as well
a/n: This one was really fun to write, so I hope you like it!! Also sorry if you hate the symbiote name, I used a random name generator to pick it because I had no ideas! and i may or may not have changed the prompt a little. Hope that's cool! Feedback is always appreciated and requests are always open!
Eddie was walking through the park, tapping his pen on his notepad. He had used some of his vacation time at work so he could clear his head and try to think of real story ideas, rather than just pick something dull and spit something mundane out.
It wasn't going so well, seeing as the only story he had written down was the one that had burned him out. He stared at the barely legible scribbles on the paper and sighed.
"Maybe we could take about all the stray dogs running around the city?" Eddie asked Venom quietly, as to not bring unwanted attention, "Maybe just ....talk about the homelessness?"
He wasn't getting an answer.
"I'm.. Asking for suggestions." Eddie paused, "And you know I'm desperate because I'm asking you."
Still nothing.
"What? No snarky remark? No name calling?"
Radio silence.
"Listen, man-"
"Quiet."
"Excuse me?"
"Did I stutter, Eddie."
"What's gotten into you?"
"Something's here..."
"Descriptive." Eddie chuckled, "Mind enlightening me?"
"I can sense another presence here."
"What kind?"
Venom sighed, "Do I have to spell everything out?"
"I am currently utilizing the one brain cell I have, buddy. I need all the help I can get."
Eddie could feel Venom's sarcastic ass eye roll, "A symbiote."
Almost as if it was routine, which it probably was, Eddie went on high alert. There was another symbiote just out and about?
Venom decided that he wanted to know where this other alien was, and made Eddie walk. Most of the time, Eddie didn't mind, but seeing as Venom didn't even ask.. He minded a little.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the park, you were sat on a bench, tossing out gluten free oyster crackers out to the ducks. You were also feeding M&M's to your symbiote, Vex. He enjoyed the small crunch of the outer coating.
"Look, V, there's that new family I was talking about." you gently pointed towards the pond and watched as a family of ducks swam over. There was the mama duck followed by five babies. They all made happy little noises as they began to eat the crackers.
Vex seemed very happy at the sight as she said, "How cute."
"Think we could get a duck?"
Without hesitation, Vex replied, "The pet shop on fifth had the cutest chicks."
You giggled at the thought of you, a human, raising a chick with your alien friend. It sounded like some sort of cheap sitcom premise.
You and Vex had been bonded for a few years now. You remember that day all too well. You were trudging home in the rain, doing your best to keep the groceries you had bought dry. You were passing an alleyway when you had heard a rustling noise.
You knew that only stupid people in horror movies go down the empty alleyway alone, but you thought maybe there was a stray animal that needed help. Unknown to you, there was an alien lifeform that was dying in a mud puddle. It didn't take long for you to help the poor thing. You knew exactly where it had come from. It was all over the news that the life foundation was secretly using some strange 'parasite' to test on people. Of course, most people wouldn't believe that, but somewhere in your heart, you knew it was true.
"Are you okay?" you asked quietly.
It didn't have a face, or a voice, or any real identifying features, but you knew it was in pain. You weren't sure what came over you, but you had held your hand out to it, in hope of helping it. You were certain that that wasn't a big deal, to help someone or something in need. Little did you know that the poor, dying symbiote had already accepted your offer and even swore to protect you. And that's the story of how you made a permanent friend. Ever since that day, Vex has been nothing but nice to you. She's also saved your clumsy ass a few times. As time passed, you had expected Vex to be a violent type, just like the rest of the rumored aliens, but to your surprise, she actually told you that she wanted to just live a normal, peaceful life. She didn't like the unnecessary attention. And that brings you here, every afternoon, to the local park. You'd spend your morning running errands, then for an hour or two, sometimes three, you'd watch the animals in the park and bring them snacks sometimes. After that, you would head out to get stuff for dinner. And Vex liked this.
"Oh, look how fluffy that one is!" You gushed, pointing to the smallest duckling. "They're very precious." Vex agreed, smiling.
You tossed out some more crackers, giggling when all the ducklings swarmed to them and began plucking them out of the water. You had began another conversation, but were quickly cut off but a startling voice. Vex retreated, and you quickly turned your head and looked over your shoulder. All the ducks scattered at the sudden noise, and you were extremely saddened by that.
"Oh god!" The distraught man said, obviously embarrassed, "I am so sorry! I didn't mean to.. I didn't mean to scare you."
The man's voice didn't match the one you had just heard, but you were certain that maybe you had just imagined it being deeper. You stared at the man in complete shock for a moment, watching him nervously look around. He looked like he was having a panic attack because, one, he wasn't even the jackass who startled you, but two, he couldn't say who did it because he would look like a crazy person.
He took a step forward, voice calmer, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that... Uh, I'm, eh, well, uhm, I'm. Eddie."
He stuck his hand out, and you noticed how much it was trembling. Again, you did nothing but stare for a moment before you slowly reached out and shook his hand. He had sweaty palms, and you tried not to cringe.
"Uh, sorry. I- ... Think I'll just go now. I'm sorry, again, for interrupting-"
"It's okay," you said softly.
Eddie stood still for a moment, seeming very confused. He wasn't used to social interactions.
"You could make it up to me." you added, "Could you help me get the ducks to come back? You.. Scared them."
"Oh, yeah, right." Eddie let out a breath, stepping over and carefully sitting at the other side of the bench, "So, how do we......Do that... Do we have to just.. go in there and grab 'em?"
You tried to stifle a laugh, but it came out anyways, "You're kidding, right?"
Eddie realized that that was Venom's answer slipping out and not his, "Yeah, I was joking."
You held out your bag of crackers, "Try these instead."
Eddie, still a tad bit nervous, took some crackers from the bag and stared at them. He's never done anything like this before. Normally him and Venom just took a brisk walk through the park to get some fresh air on the way home. They never payed any mind to the animals, the plants or the people. What was the point in that?
Eddie had watched you toss some crackers out, and a second later, copied you. He wasn't expecting much, and so he felt terrible for scaring the ducks away, which was very odd of him. Why should he care about some stupid ducks? "Look," you said quietly, "They're coming back."
Eddie watched as the ducklings came back, followed by the bigger ducks and they began snacking on the crackers again. Eddie stared at the tiny, innocent little ducks, and not to be dramatic, but he would've died for them.
"I understand why you like these guys. They're pretty cute."
"You've never sat and just ... Enjoyed what's around you?"
"Do I look like the type of guy who just does that?"
"You look kinda- No."
"What were you gonna say?" Eddie smirked, "I can take it."
"I was going to say homeless." you chuckled.
"I get that a lot." Eddie chuckled with you.
You chuckled some more as you carried a decent conversation with this oddball Eddie. You two wound up talking for an hour or two, before Eddie said he had to get going, something about needing to finish up some stuff. You bid him farewell, and asked if he would come back tomorrow. Without hesitation, he said yes. That was almost two years ago. You liked Eddie a lot, but you were a bit scared. You never told him that you had a symbiote, and of course, you knew he had one, it was obvious, but you weren't sure how he'd react knowing that you had one.
You were currently standing in the middle of Eddie's apartment. He had invited you over for your usual dinner and movie night at his place, but he was still out at the store getting a few things.
Vex was currently watching you pace back and forth, rather nervously. She was confused as to why you couldn't just tell Eddie. He was a weird dude, surely he'd love an alien too. Vex just got that vibe from him, though, she never said anything because she figured it would've come off as rude.
"Why can't we tell him?" Vex asked innocently.
"What if he ... Y'know, understandably, doesn't want to be with a freak like us?" you sounded worried.
"We aren't freaks. We're just..." Vex hesitated, trying to be mindful of your almost fragile human feelings, "Odd."
"What if Eddie doesn't like odd..." you stopped pacing and sighed, hanging your head in defeat, "V, he's like so normal it hurts. He writes news articles and takes pictures for said articles, and he comes home and usually burns everything he cooks- Like... A normal person.. He's a square, we're a triangle."
"I think we're more of a circle, but okay.." Vex saw the sad look you had given her before you directed your attention to the window, "We have to tell him, Y/n. He'll understand."
"What if he doe-"
"His loss."
There was a long pause before Vex nudged you softly, "It's going to be okay. I promise."
"If you're wrong-"
"If I'm wrong, I will do whatever you want for a month."
"Fine..."
You decided to sit down and try to calm down and think about what the hell you were going to tell Eddie. God, what if he didn't want to be with you anymore? What if he made you choose? You already knew what you'd choose, Vex, of course.. You just didn't like the thought of not be able to be with Eddie.
"You're getting awfully nervous, why don't we just relax?"
"Easy for you to say.." you looked at Vex with a soft smile.
"Let me try something." she replied shyly, "I saw it on a tv show."
"Oh boy." you chuckled, "Here we go."
She seemed to vanish for a moment, and you thought you had hurt her feelings. You went to rub your neck, but noticed that she had decided to appear in the palm of your hand in the shape of a very small shape.
"Oh my god," you cooed, "You're so adorable."
You rubbed her little head with your finger and she seemed pleased, sticking her tongue out a little, "I saw that pets help relieve stress."
"Snake was your go to?"
"Lady on the show had one.. And I told myself, 'Hey, I can do that.'" she seemed amused.
You were about to crack a joke when the apartment door opened and you shot out of your seat, symbiote still in hand. Your mouth hung open as you saw Eddie come in and set his stuff down. You gently, but quickly, covered the hand with Vex in it, "Hi, Eddie!"
"Hey!" he chirped shaking off his slightly damp jacket, "Did you know that it was supposed to rain today?”
Your eyes quickly darted to the window and then back to him, "No, i did not.”
Eddie raised his eyebrow and looked you over, "You alright?'
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"
He pointed at your awkwardly clasped hands, "You've been stuck like that since I came in. You okay?"
"Uhm..." You could feel the nervousness creeping up your throat, "Yeah, just, uh.."
"Tell him." you heard Vex in your head.
And much out of habit you replied back in a whisper, "I'm getting there."
"Huh?" Eddie asked, now putting his full attention on you, "Really, babe, you okay? You're looking a little flushed."
You needed another excuse to not stand there like an idiot, "Yeah, I'm just.."
You sighed heavily, looking at your hands for a moment, and then turning your head to Eddie. He seemed rather interested, and almost a little bit nervous himself, almost like he could tell where this is going. You were positive that whatever he was thinking wasn't accurate, but hell, here goes nothing.
"I think I need to tell you something." you said, trying not to stutter.
You saw Eddie tense up a little. This could not end well, mainly because in his experience, people needing to talk or say anything lead to him being alone somehow.
"O-okay, go for it." he tried to sound calm.
You nervously walked around the couch and over to where Eddie stood like a fence post. You extended your clasped hands and winced a little as you finally opened your hands. There was a good minute and a half before Eddie chuckled.
"Am I missing something?"
your eyes snapped open and you looked at your palms, "What the fu- ..Hey..."
Eddie smiled, "Did you lose it, or, did you just want to show me your clammy palms...Because I've seen those plenty of times.”
"No, no," you sounded even more nervous, "I did have something to show you."
Eddie, not wanting to downplay the idea of you having something extremely sensitive or serious to say, gently pulled you into a hug, "It's okay. We'll find it."
"It's not exactly something I can lose..." you sighed, wrapping your arms around Eddie, "It's something I'm kinda-"
"Stuck with?" he asked, a little too quickly.
"Not the words I'd use." you looked over his shoulder and noticed the little shit of a symbiote you had. Vex was still in the, now due to sheer spite, you'll dumb the wet noodle form. Her eyes were turned up in a devious smile, and her small tongue was still hanging out.
"Hmm." Eddie hummed, "I'm sure whatever it is, it can't be that bad." You held Eddie a little tighter, "So, you remember that whole Carlton Drake fiasco?"
"Of course?" Eddie awkwardly remained put as you latched onto him, "Shit changed my life." He paused for a moment or two, "For the better, obviously."
Eddie knew where this was going. You knew he had a symbiote. You were probably trying to let him down easy. Better get this show over with.
"I know where this is going," Eddie sighed as he pulled away from you.
Vex, being surprised, had hid up your shirt sleeve, and you did your best not to laugh at the sudden tickling feeling of it. You covered your mouth for a second before playing it off as clearing your throat, "You... You do?"
"It's not like this is the first time," he sounded a bit hurt, "Look, I know I should've told you forever ago, but I really, really, really like you... And I don't know, I thought you'd think I was some kind of freak..I couldn't really.." He awkwardly rubbed his neck, "I just didn't want to lose you so quickly."
Now it was your turn to be confused. There was no way that this was going where you thought it was going, "Hang on a second."
Eddie nervously bit his lip and looked at you, "Yeah?"
"Are you about to," you were trying to play it off as an oddly specific joke, "I dunno, tell me that you have some sort of alien living inside of you, but it's totally okay, because maybe they're pretty cool and keep you company. Even though som-"
"Was that really just a guess?" Eddie seemed rather surprised, "That's...Eerily specific."
"But you were, weren't you?"
Oh god, he didn't have an alien.
"I.." He fiddled with his bracelets for a moment, looking at the floor like a child, "Well, I wasn't gonna phrase it like that..."
"What are the fucking chances of that?" you asked, almost amazed.
"Chances of what?"
"Oh geez, uhm." you nervously laughed, "Man, would it be crazy if I told you that I also had an alien friend too?"
"You're just dicking with me."
"I'm being serious! I just never said anything because I thought you'd leave because you're a total square."
"I'm not a square." Eddie replied defensively.
"You recorded Bride Wars on the DVR, Eddie."
"That wasn't me. That was.." He did record it, and he wasn't about to explain himself, "Okay, wait, hang on a second. Let me just... Process this."
The room fell very quiet. You awkwardly pulled at the bottoms of your sleeves, not knowing if you should say anything. After abut 3 minutes, you sighed, "It's not a math question, you know."
Eddie looked at you and smiled, "I know, I know. I just don't know what to say."
"Anything would be good."
"Anything." he said.
"Eddie-"
He laughed a little, "What you said say anything.."
You sighed before smiling, "Okay, so now what?"
"Is dinner okay?"
"Dinner? I just- You just- Are we not going to talk about the, I dunno, aliens we have inside us?"
In typical Eddie fashion, he shoved his hands into his pockets, "Can we talk about it over dinner?"
You were about to object, but Vex poked out of the neck hole of your shirt, "Depends, what are we having?"
"I was thinking spaghetti," Eddie replied, not even batting an eye, "But if that's not your thing, we can do whatever."
Vex looked up at you, seeming pleased with the whole situation, "Yes, spaghetti is good."
"Great!" He replied, walking over to the stove.
You took a seat on one of the small bar stools that was situated at the kitchen island, "Soooooo.....We're just, like, chill about this?"
Eddie turned to look at you, and you noticed there was something different about him. He seemed relaxed, "I'm just relieved is all."
"Relieved?"
Eddie looked back at the stove for a minute, absentmindedly picking the stains on it's shiny surface, "Well, yeah. I really didn't think there was anyone out there who'd really... Get it. Y'know?"
You leaned forward a little, smiling softly, "Yeah. I was just surprised you had your own. Funny how that worked out."
"Mm." He hummed, turning on the sink faucet and grabbing a pot.
"Need any help there, chef?" you chuckled.
"Perhaps."
"I'll take that as a yes."
You got up and joined Eddie in front of the stove. You busied yourself with gathering the ingredients, and Eddie was tasked with not burning himself. You were preoccupied with opening the jar of pasta sauce when you heard a rather deep voice.
“I told you.”
“You did not.” Eddie replied, opening the box of noodles.
“I did too.”
“Whatever you say, V.”
“V?” you asked. Out of habit, Vex popped out of your sleeve and looked up at you.
Eddie looked at your symbiote for a second and then at you, “Yeah, short for Venom.”
“What a name.” you replied, setting the jar to the side, “Uh, mine’s name is Vex...So, also V.”
“That’s not going to get confusing.” Eddie smiled.
Vex looked at Eddie and watched him put the noodles into the boiling water. She also caught a glimpse of Venom giving her a death stare, but it didn’t feel aggressive, even if that’s how it looked. He was probably shy and just didn’t want to say it.
“What if we came up with like cool nicknames for them?” Eddie asked, a little too excited.
“Like what?” you replied with curiosity.
“What’s their favorite candy?”
“I like kitkats.” Vex answered, “I like the crunch of the wafer.”
“See? We can call you Kitkat!”
You scoffed playfully, “That’s ridicu-”
“I love it.” Vex was practically radiating joy.
“Do I get a new nickname?” Venom asked, surprisingly sheepishly, “I like-”
“Peanut M&M’s.” Eddie finished his sentence, “So, we can call you Peanut.”
“Thanks,” Venom replied, “I hate it.”
“You love it.” he replied, “Hey, can you get me a spoon, Peanut?”
Venom glared at Eddie for a moment before obeying, fetching a spoon for Eddie, “Just because I listened doesn’t mean I like it.”
"We think it’s cute,” You and Vex said together.
Venom seemed surprised and he looked at you. He never made it known, but he had grown quite fond of you. Never in his life did anyone’s opinion mean more than yours and your symbiotes.
“Really?”
“Oh yeah,” you said, “It suits you.”
Venom peeked up at Eddie, who gave him a sly wink, and then returned his attention to you, ‘It’s not so bad, but that’s only because Y/n likes it.”
You and Vex chuckled as you two got plates and silverware out. You felt better, and you were sure everything was going to work out just fine. All you had to do now is make sure that Vex and Venom got along. How hard could that be?

im back lmao 😂
Can I request X-Men and Venom ships (male characters)? For both I want to request the headcanons “How you meet/their first impression of you” and “How they describe you to their friends/family”.
Now that the weather is getting nice, the animal/plant lover part of my personality is coming out more. I miss hatching duck eggs and now I finally have a garden!! I work in a school and the kids are getting worse now that it’s nice out (but the lil ones are still cute- first grade is my saving grace). I’m itching to bake something, I haven’t had free reign in the kitchen in so long. Also resident evil 8 somehow is bringing out the mom in me??? Seeing baby rose made my brain malfunction and now I’m in mama bear mode.
That was more of a life update than an info bit but if you need anything else just hmu
((Ships are now closed))
-
Heyy lol I hope you like them!
Also, I didn’t know you worked in a school so that’s news to me! lol
I used the info from a previous ship you asked for as well lol
X-men:
I ship you with Charles (young, alternate timeline version)
I chose Charles because I think he would be very attracted to your caring and generous personality. He loves how kind you are a admires the way you treat people and animals. He also thinks is is adorable that you love plants and animals.
How you meet/their first impression of you:
You came to the school because you are a mutant (you get free reign on what mutation you have lol).
You are too old to be a student, but you thought that since you have experience working in school you could apply there.
Charles could tell immedietely (due to his power) that you are a goodhearted, generous human and he thought you would be a perfect fit for the school.
And for him.
He showed you around the school himself and watched how you acted with the younger kids.
This just proved to him that you belonged there.
By the end of your tour he already decided that you would be staying, and that he was very interested in getting to know even more.
How he describes you to his friend/family:
He was describing you to the others at the school before they were introduced to you.
Charles referred to you as, skilled with kids, maternal, caring, and kind
And though you come off a bit shy at first you are genuinely a good person and would get along with everyone you me.
When describing your looks and personality it was clear to the others that he definitely already had a thing for you.
They were all a bit surprised when they met you, that you were exactly how he described.
Tumblr media
Best Friend:
After being at the school for a while, you grew very close to Jean. Though she is a lot younger than you, you felt a sisterly affection for her. She feels calm and comfortable around you and appreciates your friendship and how much you care for her and the others.
- Other Ship Under Cut -
Venom:
Wellll there is only really one person to ship you with lmao, so of course that would be Eddie.
Eddie would be a very cute and caring boyfriend and would absolutely adore your personality, finding your more maternal side beautiful. He loves that you have a green thumb and love animals (he made sure that Venom knew to NEVER eat he pets or animals you brought home). Venom loves that you bake and “tries” to help. It is a rare occasion that you end up with a fully finished product when he does.
How you meet/their first impression of you:
You were getting harassed by some jerks in an alleyway.
And Eddie came to your defense.
Before you knew it, Venom made himself known, and well..that was certainly surprising.
Eddie could tell you were shocked, but was confused since you weren’t exactly afraid.
He made you promise to never tell anyone what you saw, and you agreed.
Eddie got good vibes from you (Venom also agreed you passed the “vibe check” lol).
He ended up reaching out to you a little later one because he could not stop thinking about you and how kind you were.
As well as the fact that you were not afraid of him, that was a first, and that must mean you are pretty special.
How he describes you to his friend/family:
Eddie doesn’t have many people in his life, but whenever he is telling people about his girlfriend he boasts about you.
“She’s really cool, kind, caring, she bakes a lot and planted this great garden in the backyard. She’s really cute too, comes off kind of shy at first but is really friendly and great when you get to know her.”
Sometimes Venom has to tell Eddie to shut up because he wont stop talking about you.
Tumblr media
Best Friend:
Venom. Lol, he finds himself to be very fond of you and will protect you at any cost, the same as Eddie. He also chastises and will hurt Eddie if he ever hurts your feelings on accident or says something stupid. Venom often tells Eddie that he liked you more. Eddie isn’t really that surprised.
But also, outside the symbiote, you and Anne get along pretty well and she is so glad that Eddie found someone like you to be with.

How about Stephen being infected with a symbiote, but to prevent it from destroying humanity, he merges its existence with the cloak's essence (read: badass venom!stephen)!
This is my oldest prompt - I think over a year now - largely because I knew nothing about Venom or symbiotes; that's one part of the Marvel universe I haven't explored. Some time on Wiki later, I guess this is one of the "corrupted" symbiotes, though I honestly can't figure out how one of them is supposed to destroy a whole planet if it doesn't like, create duplicates of itself to infect millions of beings at once. I guess there's something I missed that I can't find on wiki, but I'll assume it's very dangerous haha. But I threw something together, or tried to, on the off-chance this anon is still around. I don't know if symbiotes all talk disjointed like Venom, but this one really doesn't - sorry if that's not fully accurate. Maybe this one has a better command at English.
Defying the curse that has taken hold
The moment he understood what was happening to him and knew what being had attached itself to him, Stephen threw himself into the Mirror Dimension to isolate himself from all others.
What is this place? said the foreign voice in his head. It is different and yet the same.
"Mirror Dimension," he answered, forcing his voice to a calmness he didn't feel.
The alien parasite—this symbiote—could feel everything, though. Of course. You understand me now, it answered. You know what I am. And you are afraid.
There was little point in trying to deny the accusation with the creature in his body. It could probably sense the subconscious changes that caused shifts in the chemical balances within him, that charged his emotions. "I know that your species has destroyed entire planets with but one host to start." And despite rumors of more benevolent symbiotes, this one certainly was not. He had felt the strange, sudden urges of blood lust several times throughout the week. It was that symptom in particular that had eventually led him to the awful discovery.
It laughed. It is my nature. And yet you still try to fight. That is pointless. I am amongst the eldest. I have eaten many worlds. You will be mine and this world will be like the others.
Like hell he would. "You underestimate me. If I cannot find a solution to neutralize you, I am fully prepared to die."
Again it was amused. And I move to another host.
"You won't be able to from the Mirror Dimension," said Stephen. "This place is inaccessible to most of humanity. If I die, you are forever stuck here."
It scoffed in disbelief. Your pontificating is quaint. I will enjoy consuming you.
Oh, this thing had no idea what it was getting into.
—— —— ——
This is tedious, said the symbiote five weeks later. It had been quiet for a couple days until that point, as if finally realizing that Stephen was more than willing to make good on his threat. The lofty gestures of destruction and grandeur had also fallen away to something a bit more casual.
Stephen couldn't help but smirk. "I've been through worse tedium." Dormammu came to mind. Hell, even parts of med school were worse than this. This alien parasite really had no idea what war it had started with him.
In the beginning, it wasn't at all difficult to create a portal far from his body, then cross the astral plane to visit Wong with his impromptu plan for the foreseeable future. Wong, in turn, left food and books in a designated drop spot twice a day at designated times. It was easy to avoid it during those times, and Stephen effectively kept himself quarantined within the Mirror Dimension as he researched and experimented on getting rid of the symbiote.
The bad news was that nothing was removing it from his person; the symbiote was too strong for what tricks his research had unearthed this far. The good news was that the symbiote was a good deal less patient than Stephen.
There was silence again for a little while, and Stephen thought it would be quiet again for some time. So when it spoke again about an hour later, he was surprised.
I'm not leaving, the symbiote said. Stephen raised his brow; the tone was interesting. It was less haughty. You know I feed off what you call hormones. You normally make much more in one of your days than I see in other mortals. It's very satiating.
"And yet you still wanted more. I felt your attempted encroachment upon my mind and your desire for blood, and I will not allow it."
There was silence for a moment. I… might be convinced to live with your hormones. There was a lot in the beginning. It was delicious. I especially liked what you call adrenaline.
Stephen pressed his lips together. "That might suit, but from all I've read, your species absorb key nutrients that my vital organs need at an unsustainable rate. I'm afraid the human body simply isn't enough to provide for you long-term." He looked back at his book. "Now that you're more agreeable, perhaps I could place you in a dimension with no organic lifeforms for you to kill."
But that's boring! it whined. It actually whined. I want more adrenaline. You've given me so little.
"You're ignoring the fact that I just told you my body physically cannot handle you." He grimaced. "Even if I could make you swear not to harm Earth or its residents, this isn't sustainable."
Stephen felt a grudging admiration that wasn't from himself. I can't do anything you don't want. I've tried. No one's ever stopped me before. You're strong. There was a pause. I like your strength. I want to stay here—even if you'll only give me hormones.
"Did you not listen to a thing I said about my body's ability—"
You're a sorcerer! the parasite argued. You don't have normal mortal inhibitions. I can feed off many things. I can feed off your magic and you can keep your body's nutrients, as you say.
Stephen felt a spike of alarm. "I need my magic. You cannot have it."
I'm not leaving, it said again, stubbornly.
"I'll find a way to remove you," Stephen promised.
—— —— ——
Another two weeks passed. It was nearing the end of their second month quarantined in the Mirror Dimension and they were still at an impasse. The symbiote was in no way going to break through Stephen's mental defenses, and Stephen was having a hell of a time getting the creature either out of him or dead.
And the news that came with Wong's morning drop that day made Stephen realize just how permanent his situation might be.
The Cloak could immediately feel his resignation as he read the letter and tapped at his arm to ask why his mood changed. "Wong says that the Masters need to look into a new Master for the New York Sanctum if this is not resolved soon." Stephen clenched his teeth; he gave an oath to protect the world, and if this was the only way to do it…
Cloak has an idea, said the symbiote unexpectedly, breaking a three day silence.
That caught him off guard. "Beg your pardon?"
Cloak's volunteering to contribute part of its own magic. It has a significant amount.
Stephen blinked as a number of questions were raised by that statement. The first that was vocalized was, "The Cloak talks to you?"
Not exactly, the symbiote said. It is what you call inorganic. I am of the same kind. But what you call free will is powered by other forces that you have no word for, and in that way I can understand its intentions and it, mine. It was very annoying at the beginning, it ended with a light grumble.
Stephen lifted a hand to one of the gold clasps of the Cloak to indicate it to detach itself. While communication was limited, the cloak could do quite a bit with gestures and touches. "Is what it says true? That you can communicate with it?" he asked as the Cloak came to face him.
The Cloak bowed its collar in confirmation and Stephen pursed his lips. "And you are offering to give part of your magic in order for me to survive and leave here?" Another nod in confirmation. Stephen hesitated. "I don't want to see you harmed."
It won't hurt it, the symbiote said as the Cloak shook its collar and reached out for Stephen's hand in reassurance. Its magic is much older than yours. It is better than yours to sustain me.
Stephen frowned. "I cannot let myself out of here if this symbiote's words do not match his intentions. Can you see its intentions, and does it speak the truth?"
The Cloak nodded twice as the symbiote said, Magic tastes interesting. It is an acceptable substitute for blood, and tastes well with your adrenaline.
He thought about it for a moment. This may be an acceptable solution, as he trusted the Cloak with his life and knew it would not lie. "I do not know what magic would accomplish this."
You don't need to do anything, said the symbiote. It's between Cloak and me. So we'll do it, then we can get out of here.
"Wait," he said before they could start anything. "I will need approval from my peers. If they think it too dangerous, I am obligated to stay here."
He felt annoyance from the symbiote. Fine, it grumbled. It at least knew how futile arguing about this would be.
Stephen wrote a note in response and set it back at the drop point, then waited until the evening to leave his body and travel across the astral plane to meet Wong there. He got there just as Wong stepped through, and as he began to read the note, Stephen broke through the barriers of reality to speak with him.
Wong gave him a look. "You think it's safe?"
"I trust the Cloak."
Wong nodded towards the portal as he went towards it. "Still, you'll need to convince the others."
—— —— ——
Let no one say that Stephen Strange was anything but a very, very good debater. The meeting took two hours as they went through everything that could go wrong and Stephen's answers to why that wouldn't happen, or what they could easily do to prevent catastrophe. Part of him was partially convinced that he won them over through sheer stubbornness.
(It probably helped that they really didn't have any great candidates to take over the New York Sanctum, too. They were still spread too thin and no one really wanted to lose him to a threat that he seemed to have now under control.)
When Wong let him back into the Mirror Dimension, he floated his way back to his body and settled within it.
Well? the symbiote asked.
Stephen frowned as he noticed something off. "... did you try to move me while I was gone?"
... possibly. It must have felt Stephen's irritation and continued, I couldn't really do anything. You've blocked your mind even when outside your body. And Cloak got in the way.
He huffed his annoyance. "Well, if we're going to live with each other, that can't happen anymore."
So they agreed?
"They did," Stephen said. "Now promise me you won't try moving my body while I'm elsewhere."
He felt the pang of disappointment. Fine.
He pressed his lips together. "Right. Well, if the Cloak is still in agreement, you two do what you need to do."
The Cloak shifted. It reached forward on the left side so that it was fully covering his heart, and the right side lifted to cover his head, wrapping his face within the folds of the fabric. He blinked in surprise, but otherwise didn't move.
A short moment later, Stephen could feel the threads of magic about him and entering his skin. This magic was an old magic, a very ancient magic that weaved the very fabric of reality, the inherent magic of Earth that helped create a universe that could support the other magics borrowed from other dimensions that they used in various spellwork. He understood that the Cloak was ancient, but he truly did not realize until that moment the sort of power that was interwoven within each of its threads.
The power was breathtaking and exhilarating.
When the process stopped, Stephen had to remind himself to breathe. Slowly he exhaled, and the Cloak lifted itself off him completely to face him.
It had changed in physical appearance. Its checkered interior lining, formerly a faded red and grey, was now streaked with jagged black lines that spilled like ink from the collar downward. On the exterior, the darker solid red checkers were now pitch black, and the embroidered details upon the lining, the collar, and down part of the back were now made of black thread rather than the lighter red.
"How do you feel?" Stephen asked the Cloak. It spun around once in able movement, then settled down upon his shoulders as if to comfort him.
Cloak's fine, said the symbiote. This feels quite interesting. Tastes good with your adrenaline. Give me more.
"Say please," he muttered, even as his heart, already beating fast from the transformation process, kept its steady, fast beat as he created a portal back into the world. "We'll have some more ground rules to establish if you'll be staying for an extended period within my watch."
I look forward to it, the symbiote purred as Stephen stepped through the gateway and to his new chapter in life.

Eddie hadn’t been sleeping particularly well and it was time for Venom’s weekly feeding, a combination that led them both to be more difficult to deal with. Without Candy they went out someplace new and snatched up a mugger. Just another Friday night. They return to Candy’s through the upstairs window left open on this particular night every week so escape was seamless.
Venom was feeling very full and satisfied afterward, alive and awake. The total opposite of Eddie. They shut the window behind them as they spilled into the dark room to see Candy in bed. Eddie is relieved at the mere sight of her safe and resting, posed under the thick comforter. Venom rustles inside him at the sight. Blood pumps fast through them, both theirs and the latest victims.
“Let’s have her Eddie.” Venom hisses hungrily in his tired mind. “She is relaxed and she tastes so good when she’s like this. Bet she tastes like strawberries.”
While stripping off his clothes sloppily and stumbling all the way, with none of the grace he held while Venom was in control, Eddie groans. “Yeah, she’s hit the daiquiris hard lately. But I’m too tired, man. We’re sleepin'.”
“You may sleep. I can be awake for… lots of things.” Eddie feels a prickling up his spine that he wishes he could react to, but his spirit just wasn’t as willing as his symbiotic counterpart was.
“Yeah, sure, whatever dude. Go for it.“ he dismisses him with a yawn and crawls into bed to a mewling woman. He hadn't thought Candy would go for it, but a horny alien wasn't something he had the energy to barter with right now. He didn’t even notice she was wearing lingerie when he pulled back the covers. He was already out as she stirred to kiss his cheek.
With a frown, she sighs, running her fingers through his hair. It was hard to be mad at him when he looked like that. He’d been so sweet and protective lately, but not in an overbearing way. She expected him to come home a ball of energy as he usually did after Venom fed. But she was left with a sleepy puppy who wasn’t any use to her needs tonight.
“Night Eddie baby.” she gives him another kiss before rolling over to her side of the bed. “Goodnight Venom” she calls out sweetly.
“You are not sleepy.” he responds.
She turns her head to see him looming over her. “Well, not exactly no.” she shrugs.
“You are... disappointed. And… aroused.” his second accusation is growled out and she narrows her eyes at him as he leans in closer. “I can smell you, Candy.”
“Yeah I…” she takes a breath to see Venom and his silky skin just like her nightie rippling at her confession. “...wanted to have sex with you tonight. I needed some stress relief and some, closeness, y’know but…” she motions her head to Eddie’s softly snoring face mushed into a pillow.
“He is tired. But I am not.” he grins and rubs against her cheek as affectionate as a cat in his mannerisms.
“Well I kinda... need him don’t I?” she huffs out an almost nervous laugh, getting ready to roll over, call it a loss and try again tomorrow.
“Do we?” he suggests, the tone and question caught her attention. “We are close Candy. As close as you and Eddie. We are three. We are all one now. A team. Why can we not play without Eddie when you and Eddie play without Venom.” there was no hurt in his voice but something peculiar to it.
“I…” she looks over at the sleeping man, oblivious. “I don’t know? I’ve never talked about it with Eddie.” It was almost an excuse but it was also the truth. She didn’t want to cross any lines she couldn’t step back over later with Eddie.
“I have.” Venom bows.
“You have? Really?” she pauses and looks around the room in thought. The information came as a surprise. But perhaps it shouldn’t? “What did he say?” Her voice is quiet and Venom can feel the curiosity in it.
“He said he didn’t care.” A tendril flips out casually in its explanation.
"Really?” she challenges over with uncertainty clear on her face.
“Yes.” he nods again.
“I mean... I was looking forward to it all day, I’ve been… annoyed and horny and thought he might wanna get close and fool around before we went to sleep.”
“I can do those things.”
“Well, I was going to include you.” she grins sheepishly, making him hum contentedly.
“Then let me take care of you. We have been growing closer Candy. You and I. Venom and Candy. Yes? With the murders. The vengeance and the blood. I can hear your heart race, feel your body vibrate with excitement. I know what it does to you. It does not do this to Eddie. We understand one another.”
“I get killing for survival, killing one to save many, yeah.”
“Yes, and I want to… reward you for it. It is so nice to have a human understand.”
“Reward me?”
“Give you what you want tonight. I’ve wanted some one on one time with you, but the occasion has never presented itself in such a way.”
“By one on one you mean-“
“Let us fuck, Candy, our sweet. Our babe, our love, our-.”
“You’re being very sweet Venom... but Eddie.”
“I told him I could handle your needs alone. He did not care.”
“You aren’t lying are you Venom?”
“Lying is what bad people do. And we are not bad.”
“No, you are not.” She shakes her head and believes him. And technically, he wasn’t lying. “I don’t wanna wake up the poor baby if he’s that tired.” After a pause, and a small snore from Eddie she continues.”How do you want to… do this?”
“Quietly.”
She smiles at his answer. “Yes, and without much movement.”
“Agreed. Which is easily achieved with me.” A certain pride comes from his animated face.
“That’s true, you slippery thing.” She coos affectionately.
“Then let me explore you, our beautiful girl. Let us make you cum.”
The words in his deep tone that sounded like Eddies but with a wild distortion and bass makes her blush at the words. She agrees and lays back, watching him slither up and caress her face.
“You are nervous. Why?”
“We’ve never done this. Just you and I. It’s like our first time or something.” She gives him a more reassuring smile.
“And I will rock your world.” He promises with a lick of her cheek. She forgives the dated terminology immediately and feels the soft warm silk and slip of him against her skin.
He slinks beneath her nightie with no trouble, warm and almost wet as he moves across her like vines. A circling and sucking of her nipples first, a heavy caress of her thighs before parting her legs himself. Reassuring strokes to her skin when he felt her heart speed up, feeling the tension growing between her legs and waiting for his moment. Without Eddie's thoughts, without any orders or suggestions, he’s free to do as he pleases. He uses her as a playground and explores almost every bit of her. He covers her almost entirely, becoming in tune with her on a more intimate level. He knew her pulse, her Ph, her ticklish spots and the way her breath escaped her lips in a sweet puff that smelled of a fruity cocktail she’d had before bed.
He begins the part he’d craved, to be solely responsible for a woman’s orgasm. Eddie took such pride in it that Venom wanted it for his own. He could make Eddie cum, he could make Eddie squeal like a pig if he wanted, but a woman was different, more Complicated and his complex brain was wanting the challenge. Tendrils encase her, pressure and strokes, lapping at her clit first, teasing around her opening as she grew wetter for it. He sucked and flicked, pinched and circled all the while waiting to hear those moans that got Eddie, and thus him, so hard.
She holds it in with shakey breaths at first. A bitten lip and eyes squeezed shut to cope but eventually one does escape As her toes curl, her hips buck, he's there to catch it. He covers her mouth and allows her to breathe through her nose and still make all the sound she wanted.
“See? Quiet. Only I can hear you now Candy. Let me feel all those sounds of pleasure. I want to know what I’m doing to you.”
She nods, not left with any choice really but to give in, and it was glorious.
He could feel her swollen insides, pushing on the outside to the underlying pleasurable pieces of her clit, a pressure to her lower stomach as he enters her, each stroke growing in girth until she whines at the stretch.
“You can take so much, Candy. So much more than Eddie. You can take me. I can touch you in ways he never could. We love Eddie, don’t we Candy? But he cannot do this.” And with the taunt he swells to push her insides, hooking over her pelvic bone and surrounding her cervix she lets out a wanton moan she’d never released before. She felt so impossibly full. Every inch of her full and throbbing with him. He pulsed like a vein inside her, a tendril rubbing away at her clit and within a few beats, she was gone.
He encased her shaking body, extensions between her fingers to hold her fisted hand and keep her from waking his host. A rush of cum from her from the pressure is whisked away by him and savored. Something he’d never tasted before and hoped to taste again. Eddie would like this, he thought. Eddie would like to see Candy enjoying herself like this. Venom was already planning how to play with her while Eddie watched.
“There, there.” He whispers, resting her back in the bed and brushing her hair back. “That was perfect our sweet.” He states softly in her ear as he unravels around her and leaving her mouth last so she didn’t make too much noise.
“That was perfect.” She agrees and smiles out a quiet dopey laugh. Giddy on the high of her first full-body, squirting orgasm. “I… I needed that. Thank you. Thanks for… talking me into it.”
“We can do it again soon.” A smile of his rows of sharp teeth didn’t frighten her anymore. The moonlight hit them like pearls and his veins shined like Opal. He was a beautiful thing, truly.
“Yes, we can.” She strokes his cheek as he nuzzles back. “Do you mind if I sleep now? You kinda… wore me out.”
“You get sleepy after orgasms.” He states it as the observational fact that it is.
“I do.” She admits.
“Sleep then Candy. I will see to Eddie. We will be with you tomorrow.”
“Night sweetheart.” She sighs out as he pulls the covers up over her shoulder.
And Eddie was none the wiser.
——————
Despite what Candy considered the most dangerous bits of her plan being over, it was never far from her mind. Having the two boys in her life made things easier most of the time, others not so much. Like when she would get lost in thought and someone was there to snap her out of it. She didn’t want to lie but she didn’t want to worry them when they asked what was wrong. Like now. She wished someone had told her that doing the right thing would be so hard.
She was at work, a place where she could usually find some distraction from her worries. She’d kept this case entirely separate and had done a good job. Or so she thought.
She’s handed her usual stack of mail and goes to open them, nothing out of the ordinary until she unfolds a very generic looking envelope.
“You have been warned. Stop now. Or face the consequences.”
No header, no signature or anything else on the blank page. For as vague as it was, it was perfectly clear what it was about. This was a sign she thought. They’re worried. She’s got something that could do some damage. But they would be looking to her to make the next move. So she had to be one step ahead.
Candy has everything lined up. The footage and proof all set and now given over to the small-time reporter looking to take on the big guys Candy couldn’t. The exchange was simple. Candy's name was left out, there was no footage or the sound of her voice on the videos, she could now sit back and watch it all unfold. She had done it. She’d outsmarted them.
Except it didn’t happen.
There was nothing for a week. Candy became worried, reaching out to the girl and receiving nothing in response. She takes the chance to go to the brick and mortar of the small paper and she was there, but reluctant to talk. She spoke with her in a backroom and was clearly shaken.
Tells her she should forget it. She can’t say more. But she isn’t the woman to do it for her. Telling her the proof was gone. The things she printed were gone. Her laptop, phone, everything. Telling candy to be careful because who they were messing with was willing to use violence to keep the status quo.
And with that, Candy was left to feel defeated again, guilty for a new reason. These men weren’t fucking around. But neither was Candy. But what could she do to get back at people with infinite resources? Venom couldn’t eat them all. As much as he’d like to try I’m sure. She needed something new. Something they couldn’t touch.
——-
“I don’t know Candy. I think we should leave it.” Eddies rubbed the back of his neck defensively.
“Really? They’re breaking the law, raping women and covering it up. Threatening people to keep quiet about it. It’s bad!”
“And YOU don’t have to be the one to expose it. I’m sorry babe, I really am but it’s not worth the risk. Venom and I… we can only keep you so safe.”
“We just need something they can’t deny! Something-“
“Something that’s going to draw too much attention to you. I need you to stop and think for a minute. You’re just one person. A major network won’t take this, won’t print it, won’t broadcast it or post it. There’s no way to get it out there without them knowing and it reaching enough people to make it known. It’s just not in our power. Maybe just do a piece on Roofies? No names or places or accusations?”
“They need to pay for what they did.” He sees her growing more tired, the hurt and sadness and fear catching up to her as she took a shakeup inhale.
“Comfort her.” Venom whispers and moves him towards her.
Eddie holds her and it only takes a moment for her to break. She starts to cry, and for so many reasons. Frustration, it all felt so unfair. The fear she felt that night, the need to help others and keep them from suffering the same fate or far worse. She was powerless against them no matter how much she fought, there was no winning this one.
“I’m so sorry Candy. I know how much this meant to you.” He didn’t know what else to say. And neither did Venom. He felt Eddie's pain, a dark cloud washing over them at being unable to fix it, unable to save those that needed to be saved. But even he and Venom have their limits.

Eddie Eats A Map
Written for @symbruary Day 11: "romance". Featuring Morbius again because I've been meaning to bring some Venom/Morbius into the world for forever.
Honestly this is less "actual romance" and more "being friends and also there's secret attraction that might be one-sided" but like... it's pre-romance. Also Eddie mentions being married to symby so there's your romance. Also this was supposed to be two scenes and the second scene was going to have more romance but then this got long, I'll use my Free Space day to write the second scene or something.
My friends, I've never read an issue actually set in Monster Metropolis, my description is based off the wiki and posts I’ve seen other people make on it. Please forgive any inaccuracies.
###
Eddie studied the crude map.
"I'm trusting you with this," Morbius said solemnly. "Both not to abuse this information and not to let it fall into the wrong hands. Memorize and then destroy the map—"
Without bothering to check if anyone else in the 24 hour diner was looking their way, the symbiote stretched Venom's mouth across Eddie's face and they stuffed the map into their maw.
Morbius froze mid-sentence, mouth open behind his disposable face mask.
Venom slurped down the fang-shredded paper and then grinned at Morbius for just a second before their fangs receded back into Eddie's face and their skin melted and oozed back into Eddie's pores. Eddie wiped some green slime off his chin with his thumb and took a sip from his mug of hot chocolate, smirking.
Morbius glanced around the diner to make sure nobody noticed—the whole point of Morbius's wearing a mask and Venom's keeping their slimier half stored on the inside had been so that they could meet on the street level without immediately being pegged as monsters—but the other three late night/early morning diners looked half asleep at their tables and the waitress was boredly watching her phone. Morbius turned back to Eddie and stammered, "Yeah, that—that accomplishes the task. But you shouldn't do that again."
"You were saying?" Eddie prompted, digging into his omelet. "About Monster Metropolis?"
"Right." Morbius tried to collect his thoughts. "This city has already suffered more than its share of traumas. Just a few years ago it was nearly destroyed. I know all you've done to help and protect the dinosaur-people—the Moloids have brought a couple to the metropolis and they speak very highly of you. I know you can keep this metropolis secret as well."
Eddie nodded, slowly lifting a bite of omelet to his mouth. He didn't comment until he'd swallowed. "I’m not sure we like how you say 'can,' there. Like you know we can but aren't sure we will."
Morbius hesitated. "Not everyone in this metropolis is what you might personally consider 'innocent.'"
"Ah."
"But we protect them anyway," Morbius insisted. "Not from the consequences of their actions, but from the persecution based on their nature that they would face on the surface. When they cause trouble, we handle it internally. We won't have our city exposed to the surface world again and its cruelty again. I'm asking you to agree to that much."
Something in Eddie's expression shifted at the word persecution. Morbius was sure he had his empathy then—hopefully the other's, too, although it was hard to tell. In all the times Morbius had overheard Venom talking to themself, he couldn't recall ever hearing them disagree with each other; but surely it had to happen; and he was well aware that, as often as they agreed, their thoughts weren't identical. Why would they need to talk to themselves at all if they were?
And every once in a while Eddie said something in a slightly different voice—it wasn't as obvious when Venom spoke, but it was when Eddie spoke—and Morbius got the impression that he wasn't sharing his own thoughts so much as conveying something his other had asked him to say. He didn't think in those moments the alien had actually seized control of Eddie's vocal cords to speak its on mind, just asked Eddie to speak for it; but the difference was still audible.
When Morbius was around Venom, he had long since gotten past the eerie feeling that an uninvited third party was listening in on a one-on-one conversation, and instead moved on to the entirely new eerie feeling that he was having a conversation with two people but one of them was dead silent except to occasionally whisper in the other's ear.
"We notice you gave us the map before checking whether we'd agree to your terms," Eddie said. "And you're not getting the map back. Why the show of trust?"
Morbius had been hoping Venom wouldn't look that gift horse in the mouth. But, since they'd asked... "For three reasons," he said. "First... if I'd been considering this a few years ago, before you two..." He puzzled over the appropriate wording for a moment. "Separated?" He thought broke up might sound too intimate.
But Eddie nodded in confirmation. "Temporarily separated to work on our marriage."
Marriage. That word hit heavily. He pushed his own reaction aside. Oh, okay, he should have leaned toward more intimate. Talking to Eddie and his other was a constant exercise in reminding himself to underestimate the nature of their relationship a little less. "Before you temporarily separated, I wouldn't have given you the map. But the person—people?—that you are now, I believe I can trust with it. But I'm having to take it on faith that you're going to keep being who you are now rather than who you were then. If you get my meaning."
Eddie smiled tiredly. "Believe me, that's what we want, too." He sighed. "All we've ever wanted—before and after our separation—is to be a hero together. It's... just been a process getting there. You know," he shrugged, looking down at his half-eaten meal, "had to work on ourselves a while, had to work on our relationship..."
Morbius nodded, trying to look less mystified than he was from wondering what an alien goo had to work on. He supposed anything with sentience and emotions must have personal issues worth working on—he just couldn't imagine what they actually were. That silent third participant in the conversation he knew so little about. "The change is evident. Both from seeing you in in the news and from talking to you."
Eddie smiled sheepishly. It wasn't a common look on his face. "I'm going to take that as approval of where we are now rather than as an indictment of where we were then."
"That's how I meant it."
"Good."
"And second," Morbius said, figuring they were probably more than ready to move on from even this relatively gentle critique of their (comparatively) wild days, "Monster Metropolis is, first and foremost, a haven for the nonhuman people that humanity considers monsters. And your other is nothing if not seen as a monster. If it ever needs somewhere safe to run, I want it to be able to find the metropolis." Morbius didn't know a lot about what Venom was doing when they weren't in the news—and even then, their newsworthy appearances were less in-depth interviews and more cryptid sightings—but he got the impression Eddie and the symbiote spent more time than either would like getting violently separated and scrambling to reconnect. That wasn't easy when you had to live a life restricted to dark alleyways and deep tunnels. Maybe Monster Metropolis could make it easier for them to find each other again—or at least give the symbiote a haven where it could hide and a community that could help it locate its missing home/partner. "Of course, you're welcome there too, Eddie, I don't want to slight you—but Monster Metropolis does primarily exist for the monsters."
At first, Morbius thought Eddie had flinched; then realized it was more of a ripple, his very skin itself—or something under his skin—stirring.
"What is it?"
"Was that visible? Sorry." Eddie picked up his hot chocolate again, noted it was empty, and picked up Morbius's. (Morbius had thought he should order something to look a little less strange, and Eddie had told him he wouldn't mind a second drink.) "You uh, surprised us—particularly my other. It's not used to it being the one to receive the invitation and me being its 'plus one' guest. In fact, it usually only happens when someone in a lab coat wants to prod it a while and hope that a superpower falls out." Eddie had that voice on—the one Morbius thought meant he was reporting the symbiote's thoughts rather than his own. It sounded just slightly more professional—like a journalist reporting a paraphrase of someone else's statements rather than giving his own opinion. He took a sip before giving Morbius a wan smile. "You got a Nobel for some kind of biochemistry thing, right? You wouldn't happen to be doing any kind of research that might benefit from an amorphous alien that can alter its host on a cellular level, would you?"
Morbius would be lying if he said he'd never wondered if there was a distant chance the symbiote might be able to help with his own condition—but he certainly wasn't wondering it right now. "I'm inviting you as a guest, not as a test subject." He meant that comment directed to the symbiote, not to Eddie—would that be obvious to them? Was it even appropriate for him to speak directly to the symbiote? It was much easier, psychologically speaking, to direct comments to the person visibly sitting in front of him as though asking Eddie to pass the message on; but the symbiote was sitting in front of him too. Why should he speak to Eddie instead of to it?
Eddie twitched in surprise again. For a moment, the surfaces of his eyes were covered in porcelain white and his grin was filled with sharp teeth. Message received, apparently. "Every once in a while, we meet a scientist we can trust. We think you're probably one of them."
"Thank you. I'd like to be."
Eddie's face was back to normal when he returned to his omelet. "So what's the third?"
"The what?"
"You said there were three reasons you gave us the map?"
Oh right he had said that. He shouldn't have said that.  "Yes—right," he said. "Third. I've found that I... Your company is pleasant, when we cross paths." He was careful to understate just how much he'd found himself growing fond of their infrequent meetings. He wasn't sure how welcome a full confession would be. ("Our marriage," Eddie had said. How literal was that? Morbius had already assumed Venom came as a package deal—Eddie and symbiote both—but the word "marriage" implied a certain level of unavailability, didn't it? Not that his hopes had ever been high—nor his expectations even fully conceptualized—but...) "But we only cross paths rarely—and usually only when one crisis or another has driven us outside our usual haunts. I thought it might be nice to... hang out outside of work, as it were?"
Eddie snorted. "You don't look like the kind of man who tends to 'hang out,'" he said. "You don't even look like the kind of man who says the words 'hang out.'"
"You—don't look like the kind of man who drinks hot chocolate," said Morbius, stupidly, mainly so that he had some kind of retort.
Eddie considered that, then shrugged, as if to say fair enough. "You like our company enough that you're willing to risk your monster sanctuary over it?"
"No," Morbius said sharply. "I'm willing to risk it for the first two reasons. Still, your company is... a contributing factor."
"Huh." Eddie drank down the rest of his hot chocolate. "Flattering."
Morbius grimaced. (He was glad for his mask.) He thought that could have gone over better.
"Guess we'll have to make a visit soon then. Are you going to be around in the next few days?"
That had gone over better than he thought. "I don't have a set schedule, but I try to visit the metropolis at least a couple times a week."
"Sounds like our schedule. The hard lives of busy heroes, huh?"
Morbius wouldn't have picked heroes as the first word that fit the three of them—monsters, more likely—or freaks—but there was something comforting about the fact that Venom did. Even if their history with heroism was somewhat checkered. "Afraid so."
"Well, we'll keep swinging by when we're free. Eventually we'll both be around at the same time, right?"
"Eventually." Morbius was well-known enough in Monster Metropolis that Venom would be able to just ask around to find out whether he was in town; and Venom stood out enough, even among monsters, that Morbius would be able to just as easily ask about him.
"Sounds like a plan." Eddie turned and waved his hand, catching the waitress's eye. "Hey. Separate checks, please."
"You want me to pay for the hot chocolate you drank?"
"You ordered it," Eddie said, smirking. "We're halfway to broke and we're also paying for an omelet, you can cover a hot chocolate."
Morbius gave him an affronted look. But he sighed and dug into his pocket for his wallet when the waitress dropped their checks off.
Once she was out of earshot again, Eddie asked wryly, "Regret saying you want to hang out with us yet?"
"No," Morbius said, "although you do a fine job of trying to make me regret it at least once per meeting."
Eddie smirked again—this time, the fangs were back. "I guess we'll have to keep trying."
###
Like I said I planned two scenes but uhhh, it's late. Next one in the next few days. Anyway this is a fine standalone piece, enjoy.

Trying to train Thomas was decidedly… difficult. Roman and Virgil weren’t experts. There was only so much someone with less than a year's experience can teach. Patton would come by every once in a while, but he didn’t feel all that comfortable leaving Logan by himself for too long. Not that anyone could blame him. Ever since the freezing fiasco, he started to look like a real hot mess. Also the glitching happened more frequently, which was in no way a good sign. Specifically the weird arm thing, and not the flickering in and out of existence. The flickering had yet to make a comeback, and Virgil hoped it would stay that way, but with their luck hope is all it would be.
They were running out of time.
Logan was running out of time.
“Oh, I’m going to die when this is over.” Virgil flopped face-first into his bed. He and Roman had to go outside and train Thomas soon. “No matter which way this goes I’m going to just keel over. And then I’ll be dead. Free from this mortal realm and all of its anguish.” It was too much stress for one person to handle. Yet it somehow kept getting worse.
“Calm down. You sound like me.” Roman shut his laptop. “Only one of us is allowed to hold all the theatrics in this relationship.”
Virgil wasn’t even going to question how Roman heard a word of that muffled ramble. He turned his head to see the chair Roman sat in. "What kind of dysfunctional relationship is this, exactly?"
"A symbiotic one."
"Like Venom?"
"With less vore, I hope."
Someone knocked on the door. Virgil rolled over and said they could come in.
“Here.” Logan handed Roman something. “You should probably get Thomas acquainted with this before we lose any more time.”
"Wow, yeah, hi. You have absolutely no sense of social —" Roman froze when he processed what he held in his hands. “This is…”
Virgil shot up in bed. “Why are you giving Thomas your sword?” He didn’t like the implication.
“He’s going to need something to defend himself,” Logan responded simply. “Might as well not let a good sword go to waste.”
The casualness of it might have been the worst part.
Still, they took it. What were they going to do? Argue with a dying man? Because whether they accepted it or not, Logan was dying. It was just a matter of circumstance if he officially kicked the bucket or not.
The two played hot potato with the sword, neither wanting to be the one to give it to Thomas (along with its connotations), but Virgil shoved it into Roman’s hand at the last minute. Before they made it out of the backyard, Roman decided to give it to him. If he didn’t do it now he wouldn’t do it later. Better to get it over with as fast as possible.
“Okay, uh, Thomas,” Roman started. “We sort of have something for you.” He handed the pommel over. “You’re going to have to start getting used to it.”
Thomas looked at it quizzically. “This,” he let out a nervous laugh, “this is Logan’s.” He looked at them like he expected them to admit this was a joke.
Roman could barely even manage a smile. “Yeah.” He continued walking.
Thomas didn’t move. He looked at Virgil, his eyes begging him to say there was some other reason.
Virgil had nothing to say.
Throughout all these days, Thomas hadn’t actually seen Logan glitch out before. He had no idea it even happened. No one thought to explain it; most of the time they tried to pretend it didn’t happen. So he had no idea about the severity of it all. Was it the smartest idea to keep it from him? Probably not. But it just sort of happened. And no one wanted to be the one to correct it. How would they? Not only would they have to admit keeping information from him, but they also had to admit things were worse than they seemed. No one wanted to admit that.
If they were silent on it, then maybe it wasn't that bad. Maybe they had a chance to fix this. Maybe each day they spent with no new leads would be okay. Something would come up. Something good would happen. It was blind, forced hope with a heavy helping of denial.
After they were done, Thomas gave the pommel to Virgil. “It’s still Logan’s,” he said quietly.
Virgil could have sworn it weighed more after that.
“Where’s Logan?” Virgil asked Patton after they came inside. Roman went off to edit some photos. Thomas went to his room to, well, probably to sulk if Virgil was being honest. He had been doing a lot of that. “I have something to give back to him.”
“Out on the deck.” Patton’s eyes were on the TV, though it didn’t seem he was processing what was going on. His thumb ran along his palm in one of his nervous habits.
Virgil didn’t need to see that to know Patton was anxious. He felt it almost as soon as he stepped in. “It’s freezing — why would he be out there?”
“He needs to cool down.”
Last time Virgil checked, Logan needed the exact opposite of that. “What do you mean?”
Patton’s eyes flicked over to him before returning to the TV. “You’ll see when you go out there.”
That was a bit ominous. Still, Virgil went out. He found Logan sitting in one of the chairs dressed as if summer was right around the corner. If the sky was clear and Virgil hadn’t gone outside, he might have believed that to be the case. Logan’s skin was flushed in addition to a gleam of sweat on his face. “Uh, hey. You doing good?” There was an obvious answer, but Virgil thought it polite to ask still.
“I’ve certainly been better.” Thin wisps of steam rolled off his body.
“Yeah, I get that. Uh —” he went to step closer, but stopped — “where are your glasses?”
Logan moved so that the opposite armrest could be seen. His glasses sat neatly on top of it.
“Alright, cool.” He took a seat on the other chair. “I have something of yours.” He fished the pommel out of his hoodie pocket and placed it on the armrest of Logan’s chair.
Logan turned it over in his hand. “He’ll have to get used to it eventually.”
“You don’t seem surprised he gave it back.”
“I assumed that would be the case. I think I know my —” he caught himself, placed the pommel back on the armrest, and adjusted, “Patton and I are fairly acquainted with Thomas considering the whole raising him thing. While it was mainly Picani at the forefront we were still there along the way. It’s easy to predict what someone might do once you’ve known them for so long."
Virgil hummed, decidedly ignoring the abrupt correction. “So when did this happen?” He waved a hand around Logan’s direction.
“A few minutes ago. Patton still has no sway over it so I decided to come out here to attempt to not have a heat stroke.”
“Only you would somehow find a way to die of heatstroke in the middle of winter.”
“While I’m flattered by the endearment, I don’t think it’ll be the heatstroke that kills me.”
Virgil adjusted his hoodie strings. “So do you know what’s causing this?”
“I can’t say for certain, but…”
“You have an idea.”
“A hypothesis, really." Logan sighed. "I can do three different types of magic. Fire, ice, electricity. It didn't cross my mind when I was freezing from the inside out, but now that it feels like my skin is melting off, I'm starting to suspect there's a reason. My body is reacting to my magic being used, but I don't have enough to protect me from the heat or coldness that manifests from those spells. Plus," he extended his left arm to Virgil, "this appears to have gotten worse since its first appearance."
His entire wrist had a solid black band around it. The length of his forearm was littered with what appeared to be dark bruises. Like large storm clouds attempting to block out the sky.
“That seems… bad.”
Logan rolled his eyes. “Very astute.”
“Listen, I don’t know what you want me to say about this, this thing happening to you, alright? It’s fucked up and looks like some sort of bad omen.”
“I suppose you can think of it that way if you believe what Dolos said.”
Virgil grimaced. “Don’t remind me.”
Patton poked his head out. “Hey. Is everything, um, fine?” He tapped his fingers against the doorframe.
“I’m actually starting to cool down a little." Logan shrugged slightly. "So I suppose it’s as fine as it can be.”
“Right. Good. Um… I’ll leave you to it.” He left with a hesitant smile.
Logan stared at the door with a small frown.
Virgil looked at it curiously. “That seemed brief by Patton standards.”
“He just doesn’t like not being able to do anything.” He leaned his head back against the chair and closed his eyes. “I’m sure there’s also some awkwardness between the two of you still.”
Oh boy. Talk about an elephant in the room. “Is it wrong to still be a little mad?” Virgil decided to stare at the railing instead.
“Honestly, I’d be more surprised if you weren’t.” He directed his attention back to Virgil. “I love Patton, but I know he has a tendency to… overreact. Especially where his loved ones are concerned. It’s more than a little reasonable to be upset after getting blamed for everything.”
Virgil frowned. “The thing is, I don’t want to be upset. I understand why he did what he did. He had a shitty way of going about it, but it’s not like I can act like I’ve never had a bad reaction to something.” Yelling at Thomas was a pretty prime example of that. Something he still felt guilty for even after all these weeks.
“I’m not an expert on this, but it would appear you need to have a proper talk with him." He ran his finger over the intricate details of the pommel. "It may take some work to get back to where you used to be, though that doesn’t mean it’s not impossible. As long as you both want to get there.”
“You’re probably right.” Virgil pulled his sleeves over his hands. “Uh, I’ll leave you to it, I guess. I would prefer if you didn’t become a puddle of goop right after I leave.”
“I’ll see how it goes.”
Fair enough. Virgil slid the door open and walked inside. He was hit with anxiety strong enough to rival his own, causing him to pause before heading anywhere. Patton sat on the couch again, but with one of his legs pulled up to rest his head on top of his knee. His eyes were staring, unfocused, in the spot the coffee table used to be. Virgil wondered if this would be a good time to have a talk. Either it would be a good distraction for Patton, or just make things worse.
Before Virgil could properly weigh each option, he felt a vibration in his pocket. Weird. He didn’t get very many texts. He fished his phone out of his pocket as it continued to vibrate from the barrage of messages. They were all from the same contact, one Virgil recently dubbed, ‘That Bar Weirdo’. It seemed a fitting description.
Virgil
Look
Listen to me
I need you to listen to me
I did some snooping
Sort of in a bind
Okay I’m just going to call you
Virgil almost dropped his phone as it started vibrating intensely, the call screen popping up. He hurried to his room to not bother Patton with a one-sided conversation. Roman was sitting at the chair with his laptop. Right, of course. He left it in here. Rather than risk running out of time to go to Roman's room, Virgil answered the phone right there.
"Uh, what —?"
"Oh, thank God you picked up."
Virgil blinked. He noticed Roman lift his head and decided to turn on the speaker. Whatever the Theorist had to say he could say it to them both.
"I know I said I don't do calls but it'll be easier if I do it this way."
"What are you talking about?" Virgil kept an eye on Roman as he stood up to join him.
"Well first things first. The magic world sort of has rules. Unspoken rules that Magi are expected to follow. One of the important ones is to not let humans know magic exists. That's why I'm considered a black market Seer. I let anyone come to me to ask whatever they want and I give them real answers."
"This sounds like you're leading up to something big," Roman mentioned.
"Yeah, kind of." Something fell over. "Because I mean anyone can come and see me. Humans, shifters… one of Altair's men…"
"I'm sorry — what?" Roman jerked Virgil's phone closer to him.
Virgil jerked it back, giving Roman an annoyed look. "Men? What do you mean men?"
"God. Right. You two don't know anything. Okay, so back when Altair first started becoming a nuisance he had a large following. Magi of all kinds joined him for a chance to live without hiding. But over time their numbers dwindled. I personally thought none were left, but I guess a few decided to stick around."
“So what does that mean for you?”
“One of them came to see me earlier. He asked a pretty mundane question, but when I looked into his timeline, I saw who he was. And maybe I sort of did a little bit of a dumb thing and… tried to look for Altair through his timeline.”
“Why was that dumb?” Roman gazed at the phone curiously.
He shifted. “Apparently Altair was three steps ahead of me. He’s locked all recent references towards him.”
“Locked?”
“How do you lock something like that?” Virgil asked.
“If you’re a madman with stolen magic anything is possible. Magic types are a lot easier to manipulate and combine than you realize. As far as I could tell, it was sort of like antivirus software for a computer. Which makes me the virus, I guess. Recent memories on Altair and where he is are behind a protective wall so people like me can't poke in easily. The guy figured out what I was trying to do almost as soon as I started looking. Apparently, that's a big no-no."
"So you're running away?" Roman asked.
"A little bit, yeah. I would appreciate it if you two came to help me out. Maybe bring that Machai with you — Patton, was it? He's good at killing, that could come in handy."
"Woah, hold it. No one's killing anything yet." Virgil scowled at his phone. "Just text me where you are and we'll be there as soon as possible."
"Sounds like a deal."
They hung up.
Virgil rubbed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I hoped today would at least be a little normal."
"You're asking for too much." Roman headed for the door.
"Apparently."
When they entered the living room, they found Patton and Logan talking. Logan didn’t look like he would melt into a pile of flesh anymore, but he was drenched in sweat. Which was gross, obviously, but a hundred times better than being dead. Patton appeared more worried than relieved, however.
"We hate to interrupt," Roman announced. "But there's sort of a pressing issue."
"What kind of pressing issue?" Logan asked.
Virgil frowned at the address. It was two cities over. "The Theorist needs our help and we have to leave right now to get to him before anyone else does. We might need some backup."
"I'll go." Patton looked at Logan. "You should probably stay here. Not that I don't think you can't handle it —"
"I'm not going anywhere." Logan gave him a soft smile. "I don't think I could if I wanted to."
Patton returned it. "So where are we going?"
Thomas laid face first in his pillow for a very, very long time. He felt like garbage. Most of that had to do with still not giving Logan a proper apology. It had already been a few days — he should have done it by now. He should have done it the day it happened. What made him feel worse was that he apparently never learned his lesson. And he hadn’t even made a proper apology then. He knew the longer he waited the less likely it would be that he said anything. He couldn’t go without saying anything this time. Especially if the last thing Logan remembered of him was…
Groaning, Thomas flipped over. From the moment Logan’s sword entered his hand he realized he had to act fast. He wasn’t dumb. He knew bad things were happening that no one wanted to admit to him. He’s been treated like a kid long enough to know when adults are hiding something. (Though it felt a little weird to label Virgil and Roman as adults because while, yes, by human standards they are adults, Thomas was older than them by a few decades.) He couldn’t say for sure what it was they were hiding, but he knew it had to do with Logan and how little time he had left.
“Why am I like this?” He pressed his hands to his eyes. “What’s so difficult about saying sorry? It should be easy, right?” He threw his hands to the side. “I’ve already done it. I just have to make it better.” A lot better. He never apologized last time, which meant this time he had to make sure Logan knew how sorry he was. He wouldn’t allow it to become another regret.
He sat up and swung his legs off the bed. Before he got up, his eyes caught sight of the photograph on his nightstand. The one of Picani and him from the broken picture frame. It was scratched, but not enough to ruin the whole thing. If anything it emphasized the photo's age. Thomas picked it up and turned it over. On the back was Picani's messy writing.
Old Lane Park. July 1993
Thomas remembered that day pretty well. There was a mural in the park that everyone was allowed to contribute to. So of course Thomas had to go. A huge event was made out of it. There were a lot of people and vendors even though it was a blistering summer day. He ended up helping a few younger kids with what they wanted to paint. Picani used to take a lot of pictures back then, so there was more evidence of this day somewhere in the house. Someone offered to take a picture of both of them.
That mural was painted over last year. Those kids were all adults now.
But Picani and Thomas were still the same.
They would always be a constant in an ever-changing world. Things may come and go, but at least they had each other. It only took Thomas half his lifetime to realize that. Even then it could still be hard to remember. It was easy to focus on what he could have had rather than what he did have.
It wasn’t fair to anyone involved.
Thomas put the photo back with a sigh. He couldn’t focus on that right now; he had something to do. He pushed himself off the bed and walked downstairs. The first thing that threw him off was the silence. It wasn’t ever quiet with all of them in the house. Did they leave? They wouldn't leave him alone, would they?
He quelled his rising panic when he spotted Logan sitting on the loveseat. Well — the panic about being left alone was gone. The panic about facing the music hadn't gone anywhere.
On the bright side, it didn't seem Logan noticed him yet. He was curled up in his corner, scribbling in his notebook. He had on the flannel Thomas picked out rather than the sweater he wore earlier. His hair looked somewhat in order which meant he took a shower. That explained the wardrobe change.
Standing around observing every detail instead of saying anything seemed to be enough to catch Logan’s attention. He stopped scribbling to look up. "Did you need something?"
Thomas jumped. "Uh, no. I-I mean —" he fidgeted with his hands — "not right now. I, um, I'm… gonna be over here." He awkwardly shuffled to the kitchen. This wasn't off to a good start. He opened the snack cupboard just to make it seem like he had a purpose for being in here. Nothing in there grabbed his attention, his stomach churning with nervousness, but he took the animal crackers anyway and sat at the breakfast bar. “Where’s everyone else?”
Logan turned back to his notebook. “There was an emergency they needed to take care of.”
“You didn’t go with them?”
“No.”
Thomas wanted to question that further but figured it was best not to. Logan never gave basic answers unless there was a reason. Instead, he tried to figure out a way to go about the real purpose he was down here. It proved to be difficult to bring it up organically.
“I don’t believe you can open a container by trying to crush it like that.” Logan’s eyes were on him again. “At least not without also crushing your animal crackers.”
Thomas loosened his grip. His palms were sweaty.
“Is there something on your mind?” He closed his notebook.
“Um,” Thomas set the animal crackers down, “sort of?”
Logan raised a brow. “What do you mean by ‘sort of’?” He walked over.
“I mean…” It was now or never. “I’m an idiot.”
He blinked. “I’m not entirely sure how you came to that conclusion, but —”
“No.” He ran his hands through his hair. “That’s not the issue. Well, it is, but not the one I’m trying to focus on.” Why was this so hard? “Okay, let me start over.” This should be easy. Why wasn’t it easy? He was being genuine — he wanted so badly to make up for what he did — it shouldn’t have been so difficult. “I’m sorry.”
That didn't appear to clear up any confusion. “Sorry for what?”
“For what I said to you.” His throat started to burn. “I never should have thought it was okay. There’s no excuse for it, and I'm… I’m just so sorry.” He should have done this sooner. He shouldn’t have let it fester between them.
“It’s alright —”
“But it’s not. It’s — it’s so very far from alright. I said something stupid and hurtful and you’re never going to forget that. You didn’t do anything to deserve it. All you’ve ever done is care for me and make sure I’m okay. It seems all I’ve ever done is make you feel bad.” That extended to Picani as well. There were countless times where Thomas prodded where he shouldn’t have. He never meant to, but he was an idiot and it always seemed justified in the heat of the moment.
“I know it doesn’t make up for anything,” he continued, on the verge of tears. “I could say sorry all day but it doesn’t prove that I learned anything. And why would you think I have? We’ve been down this road before — Picani and I.” It was one of his biggest regrets. He never gave an actual, spoken apology then. He just sort of ignored it until the sting went away. “I’m sorry about that. I’m sorry about this. It was wrong and I understand if… if…” He tried not to cry. It wasn’t something he deserved to be upset about. “If you hate me or don’t forgive me or, or —”
"Thomas." Logan put his hands on his shoulders. Thomas shut his mouth immediately. "I don’t want you to think that I would ever hate you. You're my… you're family." He held up his left hand. "Do you remember when I told you about this?" A long, faded scar ran across his palm. Thomas nodded. “This is what hate is — what it does — and I’m never going to do anything like that to you. It’s okay if you make mistakes. You’re a child and you’re learning. As long as you recognize what you did was wrong, you are deserving of forgiveness.”
Thomas didn't hesitate to throw his arms around Logan and squeeze him tight. Fast and messy apologies flew out almost as quickly as his tears. He didn't think he could say sorry enough.
Logan just held him. He murmured calming words and assured Thomas he was forgiven.
Once the round of tears was over, Thomas pulled away. He felt a little less like garbage now. At least he didn't have this specific weight on him anymore.
"I'm always here for you." Logan brushed Thomas's bangs out of his face. "All of us are."
Thomas smiled. "Thanks, Da —" he almost literally bit his tongue — "Logan."
Logan returned the smile and (thankfully) ignored the slip-up. Before he could get out another word, he let out a sharp gasp. His eyes widened in panic as he frantically tugged one of his sleeves over his hand. "I-I hate to cut this short, but I should — I need a minute." He tried to inch his way out of the kitchen.
"Are you okay?"
"Fine," he answered through clenched teeth. "Don't worry." But as soon as the words left his mouth, he collapsed to his knees.
"Logan!" Thomas rushed over to him.
“Don’t. I’m, I’m fine.” He didn’t sound or look fine. He kept his left hand clutched to his chest and out of Thomas’s sight. “J-just give me a —”
A scream got caught in the back of Thomas’s throat. Logan vanished right in front of his eyes. What the hell happened? What did this mean? What should he do? Should he do anything? Should he call Patton? He should call Patton. Patton was normally the one who had the phone, right? What was going on? This didn’t make any sense. He couldn’t lose Logan like this. What was he supposed to do without him? What would he tell Patton? What would —?
Logan returned with a pained hiss. He was now sprawled on his back, grimacing at the ceiling.
“Logan!” He grabbed his hand. “Are you okay? What’s happening to you?”
“That’s a bit difficult to explain.” He groaned. “Look, I’m going to be —”
He disappeared again. Thomas flexed his fingers. There was nothing there at all. Not even a slight feeling. Logan was disappearing — actually disappearing. It wasn’t some sort of illusion or trick. His whole body was vanishing. But where was he going? How was it happening? He can’t just vanish into thin air. That wasn’t possible. This isn’t possible. It can’t be happening. It can’t, it can’t, it can’t, it can’t.
“What am I supposed to do?” Thomas grabbed Logan’s arm when he came back this time. As if maybe holding onto more of him would make him stay. “How can I help you?”
“Don’t, I’m —” He didn't even get to finish a sentence this time.
Thomas clenched his fists. He didn’t like that feeling. It wasn’t like someone was ripping Logan’s arm away from his grasp. It was just… gone. No movement. Like it never existed in the first place. That was probably the scariest part. If Logan vanished for good then it would be like he never existed at all. There would be no trace of him left. Thomas couldn't handle that. The idea of Logan being gone was still a foreign concept. But now it was here and the threat was very real. What if this was it? The last day any of them would ever see Logan?
He shut his eyes tight. He couldn't freak out right now. That wouldn't be helpful. But he didn't even have any idea on what would be helpful. He didn't know what to do. This was wrong. It shouldn't be happening. None of this should be happening. It was like some horrible dream. A nightmare. Logan couldn't just be gone like this. He needed Logan. They all needed Logan. If Logan was gone then there was no more Picani. If there was no more Picani then Thomas lost a guardian. Patton lost the one person who's been with him almost his whole life. What were they supposed to do without him? How could they have let it get to this point?
"Thomas. Breathe. I'm right here."
Thomas opened his eyes. How long had it been?
Logan was sitting up. "I'm okay. I'm not going anywhere." He looked exhausted and in pain, but all his focus was on Thomas. "Come on. Let's get off the floor." He clambered to his feet and held out his hand to help Thomas up.
Thomas took it, not knowing what else to do.
They made their way to the couch where Logan helped to calm Thomas down. It wasn't… it shouldn't have been this way. Logan just went through an excruciating dilemma, he shouldn't have to focus on Thomas. He shouldn’t have to pretend he wasn’t hurt just for Thomas’s sake. It wasn’t fair. But Thomas couldn't voice his thoughts. He was underwater and any attempt to speak filled his lungs.
Once he wasn't overly panicky anymore, Thomas decided to put on Animaniacs to have something that didn’t require a lot of brainpower to process. Not that he watched most of it, anyway. Most of his attention was on Logan. He stayed curled up on his corner of the couch and dismissed Thomas’s suggestions of going to lie down. He needed to make sure Thomas would be okay. Because that was his priority for some reason.
It wasn’t like his body kept disappearing into the void or anything.
He fell asleep by the third episode, though. It didn’t bring Thomas any peace of mind, but at least he was resting. He took out his phone and sent a text to Patton. Hopefully whatever they were doing would end soon. He didn’t like being so helpless and lost. He wanted to be able to do something. He couldn’t wait around any more. This was serious and they needed all the help they could get — that included him.
He was going to fix this.

Hehe.. hehehe.... If you guys thought I shipped parksborn, you ain't seen nothin' yet. This is a ship involving Flash Thompson. So yeah, I ship it. You know I ship it. You KNOOOOOOW.
Tumblr media
(Webspinners #3... "Flashster".)
What made you ship it?
Honestly, it was an old fic by @amaronith that had literally like, one mention of HarryFlash, but that's all I needed. Ama is one of my most trusted Spidey writers, and while it wasn't for years more than I would start shipping them in earnest, she kind of planted the seed.
Hilariously, similar to my thoughts on Parksborn, it was an early issue of ASM that made me really love the idea of them - Flash throwing himself (stupidly) at Kraven to try and protect Harry is just so funny and endearing. I love him. He's DUMB.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Amazing Spider-Man #47, Lee & Romita... you guys have no idea how much I want to own this issue.)
I think also though I'm really intrigued by the idea of HarryFlash because Harry is soooooo different from literally everyone else I ship Flash with. BUT. The more and more I read, the more I'm just like "well I guess Harry is just the exception because he's just that special and amazing and lovable".
What are your favorite things about the ship?
I'm not gonna lie - there's a lot of hints throughout the text about Harry having had a crush on Flash in early college and maybe even high school. And I think it's adorable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Amazing Spider-Man (2015) #13.. thanks, @hellomystraightlacedfriend ! Hilariously, this is both a Parksborn and a HarryFlash moment. I really couldn't lose with this stupid joke.)
There's also THIS silly moment from Untold Tales #4 which is like... Harry. Mr. Osborn. How would YOU be able recognize at a glance a football star from another school. Boy you are not that into sports. Are you on Flash's MySpace. Are you?
Tumblr media
Anyways I know that's a stretch but I just think it would be funny.
Flash being weirdly jealous of Peter is also like. A LOT. (Panels below from Spider-Man Blue.)
Tumblr media
And of course there's the GOOD stuff like the roommates era!!! I love Harry and Flash roommates.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're so funny and Flash was trying so hard to be supportive... right before Liz snatched Harry up lmaoooo
(that's okay, I low-key ship Harry/Liz/Flash. Maybe not so low-key. You guys know me, I don't ship anything halfway. I mean... the "Flash is their third" vibes are STRONG here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay I am getting carried away with these panels and too lazy to properly label all the issues they come from SO. Overall I just think they're really cute and they have so much history, and such a long, long, LONG friendship. And Flash clearly adores Harry. There's nothing Flash wouldn't do for him.
Even when he's at death's door, Flash is there to save his friend. If that's not love, what is? (ASM #800 below)
Tumblr media
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
I don't think this ship is popular enough for any of my opinions to be unpopular. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't understand where this ship is even coming from, because it's not hardly hinted at in almost any adaptation. But like all my ships, I would never want to see HarryFlash exist in a vacuum. I still would want all their other canon relationships to have happened, particularly for Harry, because his family is really important to me. Similar to how I feel about Parksborn, the journey of their relationship is critical in my eyes.
I also have not one but two Flash/Venom Symbiote/Harry WIPs right now so.. like.. LOL. I'm pretty sure that's not popular at all. Fortunately, I don't care that much what people think about my ships.
"Why Harry?" There was no malice or exasperation in the symbiote's question; just genuine curiosity. It rarely, if ever, objected to Flash's choice of partners, and certainly had access to the full array of his memories about them. But sometimes it did seek clarification, and Flash was happy to provide.  "What do you mean?" he asked aloud as he carefully dusted a shelf. On it sat a small, nondescript box, a Spider-Man lapel pin, and a couple framed photos. "Why did I ask Harry out on a date?"  "He is… very different from your usual choice of partners." "So are you, pal."
Flash is very silly. 💖

The Interview || Venom x Reader + Avengers
Tumblr media
V+A
Summary: After defeating Thanos, Venom has few days off. It's until Captain America and Iron Man themselves appear at Eddie's office for promised interview.
Warnings: None
Words: 1875

Author: Cass & Rouge
Tumblr media
Steve Rogers was sitting in a waiting room, reading some newspaper that he found on a coffee table. He drank two coffees already while waiting for Eddie Brock to show up.
They were set on an interview but reporter was getting late and Steve started to thinking that Brock probably forgot about appointment. "Would you be so kind to call him once again?," Steve asked a receptionist.
She smiled hesitantly. "I did few times with no response. I'm sorry. Please, be patient, I believe he's on his way."
Tony rolled his eyes. "I can't believe this! We waste our time here, right now I would be sitting in my lab creating some amazing tech and you would…," he look at Steve, "be sighing sadly to Peggy's photo or whatever you super soldier do, but no! You dragged me here," Tony growled.
Captain cocked his brow angrily. "Petience, Stark. It's one of these virtues that you lack," he said, sipping black liquid from his mug. "Brock and his alien friend have saved the world after all, we owe him this interview at least."
"Says the guy that drinks coffee like crazy. I own him nothin', simple 'okay thanks!' would be enough, but our golden hearted soldier had to be like 'sure! Interview is cool'. We're on first pages all around New York. Like it's not enough. I am going home," Tony got up from his seat.
Just in that minute Eddie bursted right through the door. "Shit! Sorry! So sorry, I am late! But I am here now! Come on, I mean. Good Morning Mr. Rogers and Mr. Stark. Let's go to my office and well... Let's start," Eddie was in such a rush that he even didn't notice he still was wearing his riding helmet.
"Take this shit off your dumb head, you turd," Venom growled in man's mind. "Like you wouldn't look ridiculous enough without this shit on your huge head."
Steve smiled and walked to Brock, he shook man's hand. "Hello. It's not a problem, at all, right, Tony?"
Eddie blinked and quickly removed the helmet.
Tony smiled sarcastically. "Oh no! No, no, no, not a problem. At all. It's not like we have world to protect. F.R.I.D.A.Y says we have a day off today," Tony said sarcastically.
"I am still so sorry I forced such a guests to wait," Eddie said and led them to his office.
When Brock went ahead, Steve approached Tony and snorted into his ear. "Only for this one time try to restrain your awful personality, Stark."
They both entered the office with a beautiful view on the San Francisco. "You have a nice place here, Eddie," Steve smiled at man as he took a seat in an armchair.
"Nah, you never stop you child-like wonder and boyish charm, Cap. No, thanks." Tony muttered and followed Eddie inside his office. He sat down next to Steve and shrugged.
"Thank you, it's nothing really. I bet it's not like your famous Avengers Tower," Eddie said.
"No, it's not. You are right here, Mr. Alien friend," Tony said with smile.
Captain rolled his eyes and let out a loud sigh. "I'm sorry for my friend, he likes to be a dick sometimes," he explained. "So, what are your questions, Eddie?"
Venom formed himself and out his chin on Eddie's shoulder. "Hi, tasty guys."
"What? He said it himself. I just agreed with him. Agreeing with someone is beeing a dick?," Tony blinked and looked a Venom. "AH! Thanos eater, himself… Or…  Itself?"
Eddie let out a little laugh. "So, uhm. How is it to be an avenger? I mean, you do a lot of things. Isn't it a bit too much sometimes?"
"It's overwhelming actually," Steve said. "But as long as we do a good job with eliminating all possible threats, I enjoy it."
Venom's eyes glistened from sun rays that were falling into the room through a window. "Mr Rogers sounds so reasonable. And looks yummy."
"Venom, stop that. Please," Eddie said and looked at Tony. "Mr. Stark?"
Tony looked up. "I agree with Cap. I mean, it's hard but we are heroes, right? I enjoy it because ladies love the hero type," he smiled explaining openly.
Eddie blinked and nodded slowly. "Any... Not so nice stories you can shear with us?"
"Jesus, Tony," Steve facepalmed. "Well. We have few," he said, glaring at Stark. "Sokovia… for example."
Tony knew that look. He knew that Cap blamed him for Ultron outburst, just like everyone else. Tony sighed, glaring at Steve. "Winter Soldier and so called 'Civil war'."
Eddie blinked and let out an akward laugh, feeling the tension growing between two Avengers. "S-Somwthing else? I mean, even we heard about those events... I was asking about some small stuff. Maybe funny even?"
"Being the Avenger doesn't mean a lot of funny things to happen, at least that's my opinion," Rogers said. "But I always like when we all are reunited. That's it. Our team is a family to me," Steve giggled, not looking at Tony.
Venom yawned. "Eddie. We're hungry."
"It is a lot of fun! Imagine this big guy," Stark pointed at Cap, "talking to a printer, saying stuff like 'come on, magic box, copy this documets for me'. But overall Rogers is right. Reunions are nice. One big family."
Eddie nodded and looked at Venom. "V, you see I am busy," he then turned back to Cap and Tony. "Bigest fears? Biggest dreams? I know this are kinda silly questions, but you know," Eddie winked at them.
Steve didn't want to admit it but Tony's comment about Steve's problems with technologies of any kind cheered him up. "That's truth. I might be out of ice since few years now yet all this things are still so incomprehensible to me," said he. "I still try to accommodate."
Venom poked Eddie's cheek. "Man, please, we're starving in here!"
Steve smiled and let of a soft laughter. "I think I have Twinkies in my bag." After these words Captain opened his leather bag and pulled out a pack of Twinkies.
Venom has opened his eyes wide and licked his long fangs. "Share, share?," symbiote asked politely, smiling.
"You can have even entire pack," Steve got up and walked to Eddie's desk, he out cookies on the counter.
Venom looked at Eddie. He remembered what Eddie has told them recently. If they want to eat something when there are other people in the same room, they should behave according to something that Eddie called savoir vivre. It meant they couldn't eat loudly and fiercely, they couldn't make noises.
Venom though about it for awhile and licked his fangs, he was shivering all over his body. And even though he knew they weren't alone with Eddie, and that Eddie asked him to behave before that meeting, Venom opened his jaw widely, letting saliva drip onto the counter of desk and he ate entire pack, including a cardboard.
"Hrr, yummy! Thank you, Cap Bootylicious!"
Eddie let out a loud sigh and shook his head. "I am so sorry for him... This creature isn't from here and well," Eddie shrugged with soft smile.
"I have something too. I had to eat it later but... There ya go," Tonny said pulling out a chocolate bar from pocket of his jacket. "Originally it had to be for Peter... But he fell down with his grades," Tony shrugged, putting bar on the table.
Venom instantly ate the bar, humming loudly as he did. "Yass, that was precious, we're feeling so so good now," Venom stated and snuggled with Eddie. "We love you, guys. Even you, Ed."
Captain laughed loudly and shook his head. "It's not that we haven't seen things similar to this before," he said. "You're welcome, Venom."
"Wow. Thanks, Venom," Eddie rolled his eyes. "Okay guys, two last questions and.... You didn't answer on last ones," Edie reminded softly. He started to pet Venom gently. "So, biggest fears and dreams that were the previous question. Do you love what you two and others are doing? And any interesing words to our readers?"
"I'm afraid of failure and losing people that I love," Steve said and smiled as he noticed how Venom nuzzled to Eddie's neck. "I like what we're doing. It's important that Earth has protectors," he added.
Tony storked his hair. "I am afraid of being alone and just like Steve. I am afraid of losing people I love and care about," he nodded. "I love what we do. It helps me repay my faults and fix past mistakes. Once I was taking lives. Now I am saving them. Mostly. And words to your readers. Do not be afraid, Avengers are here to save the day," Tony added quickly and shrugged, looking at Steve. "And golden thoughts, Cap? Maybe something like you have recorded for Peter's school?," he joked.
Steve rolled his eyes and looked at Venom. "If he's gonna be so annoying, I'll let you eat him alive."
Venom blinked and stiffened. "Gladly, with pleasure!," he licked his fangs. "Even though he's more like sardines can, we will eat him."
Steve rubbed back of his head. "All I can say is spread love, not hate."
Tony blinked. "HEY! I am not a sardines can! And you cannot eat good people? Right?!"
Eddie nodded. "That's true, V you can't eat Tony Stark. He is a good guy." Then Eddie checked if everything was recoded and clapped his hands happily. "I guess we are done. You two were just... Simply amazing! Thank you so much!"
"Pleasure is on our side," Steve said and shook Eddie's hand. He also petted Venom's head.
Symbiote opened his eyes widely, humming. "What a shame you ain't gay, Ed. Captain's so precious."
"Yea. Exactly what he said," Tony agreed with Cap.
Eddie blinked and blished. "VENOM?! WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!"
"You call it truth. We say the truth. Look. Captain. Glorious, gorgeous hero. America's ass. Bootylicious. Handsome and tall. Good man. And you. Not tall, chubby, kinda handsome, with strange ambitions, socially awkward and unsuccessful with women," Venom summed up.
Captain blinked and laughed hardly, almost choking himself with a water he was sipping.
"I have a girlfriend, you idiot!" Eddie growled at Venon. "I am not all of this! You are."
Tony simply laughed at the whole show, shaking his head slightly.
Steve smiled. "That's so nice Venom but well, Eddie wouldn't have a chance. No offense, of course, but I am taken," he shrugged.
"What?!" Tony and Eddie said in union.
"By who?," Venom was seemingly interested in topic.
"It's a secret," Steve winked at Venom and Eddie. "Maybe one day you'll figure out."
Tony rubbed his chin, thinking. "That's weird, Cap," he said and looked at his watch. "I think our time runs out."
Eddie looked at clock, too. "I think so, I don't want to hold you any longer. World to save and all."
Captain and Stark greeted Eddie and left.
Venom let out a sigh. "And we have almost provided you new friends."
"They are way ower me. Sadly we could never be real friends, V. Let's go get something to eat and then sit to writing, Y/N will come to check on us later."

Ruby’s Symbiote History(Scatter-Spider AU)
One of the winners of a poll I did an RWBY Amino for what AU I made to share more information and the winners was the Symbiote of the Scatter-Spider AU, anyway let’s go over the timeline of this UA’s Venom Symbiote but first let’s clear up a few things.
Tumblr media
Origin and Home-world
So, if you watched a lot of videos talking about the origins of the Symbiote that would later bond to Spider-Man and later Eddie Brock to become Venom you’ll know that it’s origin has been retconned a good chunk of times. From a Kree Solider being the first host of the Symbiote, using it only as a tool, Deadpool being the cause of its insanity to it being a part of peaceful race known as the Klyntar before being retconned to them being evil because of they were created by an Evil God. So what’s this AU’s Symbiote’s origin and homeland.
Easy.
This version of the Symbiote is a part of the peaceful Klyntar who want to be a noble warrior of the cosmos but if they get a bad and cruel host then they’ll become corrupted by their personality and get their personality traits from their time bonding with them. This way Ruby unknowingly makes the Symbiote split into two different being that represents two side of her personality, in a way. Now let’s get into the timeline.
The Arrival
The Symbiote arrives to Earth, more specifically Vale of Remnant, via meteor in a meteor shower and landing in Vale Park where a certain Red Spider is helping out. Ruby, as Scatter-Spider, is taking care of a few thugs who were trying to rob a family of their money, she takes care of them with ease (Spider powers remember) and the Symbiote has a front row seat to this display of agility and power. After webbing up the baddies, making sure the family was safe, Ruby web-swings away to come patrolling the city of any crimes and doesn’t know the Symbiote got on her shoe.
Seeing that it might be a slow night, Ruby decided to practice her parkour and free running skills in the area she was in and during that time the Symbiote started to bond with Ruby, cover her and become her new suit. This is when Ruby still has her Street Suit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After sticking a landing to finish off her practice (perfectly matching the time the Symbiote completely makes itself Ruby’s new suit) Ruby finally notices her new suit, since she did the last portions of her training with her eyes closed to better hone in her Spider Sense. It definitely freaked her out about this new suit on her that appeared out of nowhere but before she could examine it a loud noise that caught her attention and being the helpful person she is she swings off to help.
Turns out it was a car chase with the fleeting car causing problems for the police and bystanders. Ruby quickly dove in to stop them and that’s where the Symbiote started to show what it can do to help her be a better crime fighter. When Ruby stuck her hand out to shoot out webbing at one of the back tires to stop the car what came out was a symbiote tendril that grabbed the tire she was aiming for and she quickly pulled back to take out the tire despite her surprise. The Symbiote continued to show how useful it is to Ruby by enhancing her abilities and she took out the car and criminals a lot faster than she normally does.
Making sure everything was handled by the police, Ruby went to a nearby rooftop to have a better look at her new suit and its abilities. While looking at the suit she really liked the new spider symbol she got, moving onto its abilities, she did this by doing a few kicks and punches that were followed by/ended with a tendril coming out and finally she tested its shape shifting abilities. The Symbiote made sure to please Ruby with its abilities so that it can have a host, please and keep the host alive and get a nice home.
Time with the First Love
(About this title: Yes, the Symbiote does refer Ruby as its “First Love” because she was its first ever host and it enjoyed the time it spent with her. Similar to the comics and a bit of Spectacular Spider-Man, kinda the main reason it bond with Brock to become Venom, prove Spidey is nothing without it. Moving on.)
Ruby’s time with the Symbiote starts off like any other Spiders’ first time bonding with the Symbiote: it feels great! The new sense of confidence it gave her was amazing and she definitely has A LOT of confidence in this time because her getting her powers already gave her a confidence boost, so this is kinda of her react the edge of overconfident and argent. Luckily that happens very rarely and her sense of helping others fat outweighs her pride but since the Symbiote also enhances her emotions, it causes her to become a bit more flirty with Black Cat (Felicia Hardy) even though Ruby is already in a relationship with Weiss at this point and Ruby is really loyal to Weiss so she doesn’t flirt back. Unfortunately, the Symbiote increased Ruby’s attraction to Black Bat to actually ask her out on a Date Night of patrolling Vale and flirting on her like Neptune but it actually works and she keeps her attention on her throughout the night.
Luckily, Ruby spends more time with Weiss so their time together outweighs the flirting with Black Cat and makes their make out sessions a little heated. The times Ruby becomes are rare and only happens when a civilian is put in extreme danger, someone messes with the people closest to Ruby and anyone who thinks they’re a hero and are abusing their authority (corrupted officers and a specific White Fang Member, more in him soon). Due to theses rare moments of anger and the fact they happen because Ruby wants to protect someone this slowly causes the Symbiote to split into two different personalities that represent a part of Ruby herself. The Venom and Heroic sides. We’ll discuss those two soon. Since these two didn’t show up until Ruby’s final exchange with the Symbiote before getting rid of it and it finding a new host. Let’s move on to the events that led to this exchange.
The Spider Shows her Venom
(Alt Title: Adam’s Biggest Mistake!)
Tumblr media
Ruby is using her free day to its full potential, patrolling the city of Vale and taking down purse snatchers in front of electronic stores. No really she is and that’s how she learns about the attack on Signal High. Rushing over and arriving at the school she sees there’s several police officers, police vehicles and people, students, teachers and civilians, all over the area. Spotting a big hole, probably made by an explosion, she swings over there and rushes in to to stop the White Fang. She meets up with Zwei, who leads her to where Weiss, Blake and Yang are, along the way in between fighting White Fang members she sees several dead bodies, both human and Faunus, it doesn’t surprise Ruby to see dead Faunus in this attack because they have done this before in the past, killing anyone who gets in their way. What really catches her off guard was the fact that there was also several White Fang members as well and they all shared similar injuries that the civilians had as well: sword slashes and stabs. The sign of Adam.
From the times Blake shared her past with Adam in the White Fang to Ruby and their friends, her interaction with the White Fang members who surrendered will to her and her fights with Adam she knew he was starting to lose patience with anyone who disagrees with his plans and methods. When Ruby finally found Weiss, Blake and Yang the sight that greeted her stop her in her tracks.
There they were Weiss, Blake and Yang surrounded by the reminding White Fang members, each of them battered and bruised with Adam standing over them, his sword drawn, over his head and the red of his clothing, mask and sword starting to glow.
Acting fast, Ruby web-zipped to Adam while pulling him towards herself and kicked him with both feet into him causing a cracking sound to be heard and he crashed through a wall of the room they were in. Using her tendrils to use two White Fang members as make shift humanoid wrecking balls against the other members and her other Symbiote abilities she was able to knockout the rest of the White Fang members in a few minutes.
Using her webbing to the stop the bleeding of their wounds until help arrived, she checked where Adam was to see he was gone, Ruby left a fist mark in the ground next to herself, she told Zwei to wait with them and she lefted to meet them at the hospital out of costume.
After making sure they were going to be alright, Jaune unknowingly giving her the excuse of needing some air to clear her head, she changes into her suit and heads off to find Adam. No matter what.
Going to a few warehouses at the docks provided to be a great idea when she found several White Fang members hiding out in there. With no patience for when Adam might show up or if they get contacted by him, Ruby decided to just give them a beat down until only one was left and interrogate them on Adam’s whereabouts. She did have a run in with the White Fang Lt. with her Symbiote abilities, her actions being fueled by rage and being rougher with her foes, she was able to take him with relative ease. With one White Fang member left, she tried to intimidate him into giving her the location of Adam but he was too loyal and blinded by Adam’s so called heroic cause.
She decided to give the loyal White Fang member what she thought about his so called “Heroic” leader. It was a little definitely a heated argument but in slowly turn to Ruby’s favor as she began to not hold back on her words and using her Symbiote abilities to keep him quiet for her words to get to him. She decided to get the information she was looking for by using an ability the Symbiote recently learned and wanted to test it on the White Fang member. Luckily for him the memory of Adam’s location was fairly recent enough for Ruby not to go further back in his memories and cause him more pain because of this new ability.
After getting the information from the White Fang member, who she tossed aside, she confronted Adam at his hidden location and instead of beating him like she did with the White Fang Lt. she decided to toy with him like how he did to Weiss, Blake and Yang. With his mutant powers that are similar to his Semblance from the show with the added bonus of using the energy to heal himself, Ruby decided that to her advantage. Using the resources around her, her high evasion skills and well placed hits to his sword to prevent her from injuring herself, she made sure he had enough energy to heal whatever injuries she gave him and continue their little “fights”.
Ruby decided to finish this “fight” between them by calling out Adam on his so called heroic acts like she did with the loyal White Fang member before and she hit him with moves that would look similar to a move Weiss, Blake Yang do with their respective weapons but in a physical form. A powerful punch like Yang’s from the Yellow Trailer (with the fist slam before it), a karate chop similar to a sword slash like Blake with her sword, a hand strike akin to a rapier trust like Weiss and a kick move similar to a move done with Crescent Rose. Badly beaten, Ruby had the perfect chance to end Adam right then and there but seeing her reflection in some shattered glass she started to remember why she became a hero and the words her late Uncle lived by as a Police Officer: I only take a life if there’s no other way.
Looking at the state she put Adam in, she knew he wasn’t a threat at the moment and with how bad his injuries were the police could easily take him in, so she started to walk away despite what the Symbiote was telling to do instead. She briefly stopped to give Adam warning for when he was going for his sword:
Tumblr media
“Use that sword and loss a limb.”
Unfortunately, Adam couldn’t resist the chance to end Scatter-Spider completely forgetting about her Spider Sense and the fact she was still angry. In one quick moment, Adam had a broken arm that held his sword and Ruby was walking way with a new sword as a trophy.
The Breakup
(I know, I know.)
Tumblr media
Ruby decided to go somewhere to clear her head and think about what she almost did. A nearby church seemed like a good place to think, it quiet, abandoned and she had it all to herself. This is where Ruby began her first and at the time last talk with her Symbiote. What Ruby didn’t know what that she was having a conversation with the two personalities she helped create for the Symbiote: the Venom and the Heroic side.
The conversation started with the Venom side saying that they could use Adam as an example to show Vale, show Remnant, what happens when criminals pull a similar stunt like he did and show everyone that this Spider (Ruby) is more than quips and laughs. They’ll show people their Venom!
The Heroic follows up with the idea that if they do this then they are keeping the people closest to Ruby safe and making sure nothing bad happens to them again.
Ruby rejects those ideas and tries to get the Symbiote off of her. During her struggles with the Symbiote she stumbles into the church bell causing the Symbiote to feel pain and give her the opportunity to get rid of it and turn back to her Street Suit. While catching her breathing, she gets a call from Jaune saying that Blake was missing from the hospital, wanting find her quickly Ruby swings over to where she thinks Blake might be heading. Leaving behind a sword and a rejected, hurt and angry Symbiote.
Here’s an image of Ruby finding Blake but the actual scene is different from this one. Mostly Ruby’s costume and that Blake (and WY) don’t know Ruby is Scatter-Spider yet. Ruby was wearing a tank top, her gloves and the bottom half of her first costume.
Tumblr media
The Host that shows Venom
Tumblr media
Banesaw/White Fang Lt becomes the Venom is this AU. The Venom side of the Symbiote takes over from here in terms of communication between host and Symbiote but it doesn’t share the memories of Ruby with him just her abilities since it wants to prove her that she needs the Symbiote.
Ruby’s fights with Venom alternate between fighting the host using the Symbiote and the Symbiote using the unconscious body of the Lt to continue fighting with Ruby and taunt her into letting it come back to her.
Fan to Agent
Tumblr media
So in this AU Jaune has a similar role as Flash Thompson but more a line with him being a fan of Scatter-Spider (Ruby), he later becomes her eye in the sky after she told him her secret identity and became Agent Venom when they both got captured by the Remnant division of Sheild, run by Ozpin. Surprise, surprise.
When they were trying to escape, they ran into Venom, who tried to eat Jaune whole but unknowingly gave the Heroic side a chance to break with a new host and become a hero. Jaune jumped away from Venom with a new Symbiote on him giving a look similar to the Black Suit Spidey wears in the comics before Ruby tosses him some Shield body armor and giving the Venomized-ish look of his armor from the show.
Tumblr media
Together they put Venom back into his cell, continue to fight for their escape and they free fall to freedom. Jaune uses the Symbiote’s shape shifting abilities to wing suit wings to help ease the trip back down to Vale.
Ruby was on edge about the Symbiote joining them but she decided to give it a chance and she helped train Jaune to use the Symbiote’s abilities.
Reluctant Reunion
Ruby would bond with the Heroic side of the Symbiote a few times here and there. Wether the situation needed Ruby’s on the spot combat creativity or Jaune was unavailable. The same thing as well for the Venom side as well, she would bond with it in desperate situations and if the situation required her to be extra angry.
...
And that’s about it for now, I guess. This was kinda written during some late nights but most of it was written during the day. Be free to ask me questions about anything.
Thoughts, ideas and anything else to add will be appreciated! Just try to think from a different perspective once in a while! See ya!

Destiny
Tumblr media
(I just finished watching Venom, finally, and I loved it! I don’t know how many people may have already done fics on a similar idea to this, but it just popped into my head after the movie and I wanted to give it a shot. Also Tom Hardy is one of my biggest celeb crushes, so I wanted to write about him.)
Title: Destiny Requested? No. Plot: Your own symbiote, Acid, had a relationship with Venom on their planet, and so when the two find each other, it forces you and Eddie to spend a lot of time together, and that eventually leads into the two of you developing feelings for one another aswell. ---***---
“Acid! Quit it! There are cameras everywhere, I really don’t need to spend another night in jail because of your need to make our lives more fun by shoplifting.“ You whisper yelled to the other entity that was residing inside you. Apparently, when the lab with the symbiotes got breached into, by kids who wanted their own powers after seeing the huge fight between two symbiotes, one managed to escape the compound by morphing with a dog. One of the teenagers brought it with him to serve as protection if they needed it. And the symbiote travelled to find a better host, only to set it’s sights on you as you exited the gym one morning, about half a year ago. Obviously, at first you were incredibly terrified by the fact there was another entity living inside you, and that you compatibility was so strong that you would start dying one without the other if separated. And so you learned to live with it, or better yet, her. If those other guys can do it, the ones who were seen fighting next to a train, so could you. You learned that the symbiotes name is Acid and that she was one of the female warriors on her planet before she was brought here, and so she was fond of the fact that you work out a lot and it was a nice little bonus to your compatibility.
She didn’t open up to you too much however, not really interested in what you think about her life on her home planet, until she saw another symbiote she recognized, after you managed to talk her into leaving the store without shoplifting. To say she was causing you trouble in your life at the beginning would be an understatement. Even though you were a very busy woman, working as a manager of a small company that created ads for brands, working out, and socializing with your friends a lot, she still felt like your life needed some changes and needed some excitement. You even spent a few nights in jail at a time, due to Acid trying to figure out what was it that you needed in your life in order to make it way more fun. And then she saw it, them. “Venom?“ You frowned when you heard her voice, but soon noticed a tall, black creature wondering the streets. He was handling some really bad people in your neighbourhood, some of the most notorious criminals, who prayed on your innocent neighbours along with their illegal business.
“What are you talking about Acid? Who is Venom?“ You asked her as you eyed the creature roughing up a few guys in front of you. You knew you could count on Acid to help you in case you get attacked, but once she spoke, you realized you had no reason to be afraid. Acid sighed and quickly recounted you the story of her and Venom. It seems that the two of them were lovers on their planet and they got separated upon being brought here, and she thought she would never see him again, but now she has him in front of her all over again, and she was unable to believe it. You smiled at her confession, hearing actual emotion in her voice as she talked about Venom, and you ask her if she was just gonna stand with you and watch him, or is she gonna go talk to him, symbiote to symbiote. Slowly you start feeling her form overcome you, and you turn into a lilac form, similar to the one of the black symbiote in front of you, but nobody would be able to miss her feminine curves.
As the two of you approached the scene, one of the men Venom had already tossed to the ground saw you and screamed, causing Venom to turn himself and his white eyes grew wider when he recognized who he was seeing. “Acid? Is that you?“ Without taking his eyes off her, Venom tossed the man he was holding, and he hit the wall of the restaurant building with a thud. He then closed the gap between himself and Acid slowly, as if he was still trying to figure out if it was really her. But when he made sure his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him, because she didn’t disappear when he took her hand in his, they fell into each other’s arms, and you couldn’t help but smile under her form, as you had never seen her show any emotion other than anger and annoyance before. But your smile soon faded and was replaced with a panicked expression when you realized they were about to kiss.
You knew it didn’t mean that you were kissing the host of the Venom symbiote, but it didn’t make a very big difference really, as the two of you were one being, with two different minds, voices and skins. But you let them kiss, hoping to just be done with it and go back to your old life. However, neither Venom nor Acid had that in mind. Now that they have found each other, they didn’t want to let each other go that easyly, so you were stuck along for the ride. After spending some time ’alone’ Acid and Venom decided they wanted to introduce each other to their hosts and you two also. So your own human form was dominant again, Acid only now having her head appear, developing from your back. Venom did the same, and you could finally see his host. You immediately recognized Eddie Brock, you loved his show and even had an alarm set to make sure you don’t miss it every single time it aired, so it was quite the shock to be sitting in front of him, on the roof of your house, with symbiotes protruding from your backs. And not to mention you practically kissed him while the symbiotes were dominating your form. The moment he spoke to introduce himself, you were smitten by his voice, and you realized you wouldn’t mind spending more time with him, for the sake of Venom and Acid.
“Looks like you’re stuck hanging out with me a whole lot from now on. At least I get to spend my time with a beautiful girl.“ You blushed at his words, and spoke sooner than you might have wanted, telling him you didn’t mind spending time with him. He smiled at your response, while your blush only deepened. At first, Venom talked about getting Anne back, and you found out she was his ex, who was actually about to get married to a doctor she started dating a very short period of time after breaking up with Eddie. And every time you would hear her name, it was as if  you got stabbed through the heart. Over time you started developping feelings for Eddie and all this Anne talk was close to driving you insane. Eddie noticed you roll your eyes one time as Venom and Acid were talking about Anne being alone at her lunch break and that it would be a perfect moment to just have Eddie walk over, ’accidentally’, and spend some time with her. He asked you if you were okay, and you could only nod your head, but he could tell you were lying. Over time, Acid noticed your change, and asked you if you liked Eddie, to which you answered by admitting it to her, thinking she wouldn’t tell Venom, only to turn after finishing and realize Eddie was standing beind you.
Without another word, he rushed over to you and cupped your face, connecting his lips to yours. That’s when you relized he felt the same about you, and you kissed him back, your lips moving in sync. After parting to catch your breath, Eddie told you Anne didn’t want to listen to him explain what happened, she just left him, and moved on rather fast, but you had shown him so many times over the months you spent constantly around each other that you were not just there because Acid wanted to be with Venom, but also because you wanted to be with him. So many little things you thought didn’t really matter, they did to Eddie and it made him realize you were the one for him. Venom was a little sceptical, since he was all on board the ’getting Anne back’ train, but Acid managed to convince him that you and Eddie were the better pair, and that way they would always be together too. So it was settled, you got you man, Eddie got his woman, and your symbiotes got each other, and it worked. All four of you were much happier with this arrangement, your feelings growing stronger by the day. You were a family, somewhat weird, or better yet, totally weird, but a family nontheless, and you were happy.
---***--- This was sitting in my drafts for a while, and I just got around to writing it, and I hope you like it. I wanted to use an actual symbiote, like Scream or Agony, but they are both ‘born’ from Venom, so it couldn’t really work. Instead I created Acid, and I really like how it all turned out, I hope you do to :)

So honestly, I've always been a Spidey fan but ever since I found your tumblr, my opinion on him has changed. I like the fact that Peter is sweet funny but can easily get mad . I love violent Peter in the way that it shows a big part of him that isn't heroic. His short temper is honestly one of my new favorite things of him. My friends don't actually believe me when I tell them this. Do you think you can make post showing of some or all the moments SM has lost his temper or has been violent?
First off, I’m glad you enjoy my tumblr! Thank you for reading my posts. Second off, for me that’s it, exactly. I like that Peter has this kind duality to him – to the people he loves, he’s an incredibly loving, kind, devoted person, and his sense of humor can be very disarming in a variety of situations, but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a darker side to him, and his rage is one of my favorite sides to him. I can definitely provide some examples, but like, this is representative of a huge swathe of comics: traditionally he very much does have a short temper and an angry side, so if you go back before the last couple of years, and especially before Brand New Day, you’ll find plenty of examples of this.
First and foremost, I’m going to recommend one of my favorite Amazing Spider-Man arcs, Back in Black (Amazing Spider-Man #539–543) which is basically nonstop this. Following Peter’s public unmasking and the wake of Civil War, the Kingpin has Mary Jane and May targeted; May is shot and ends up in a coma. Peter reacts violently.
Tumblr media
“To do what I do best when I really put my mind to it, MJ. I’m going to hurt someone.” Move over, Wolverine. (Amazing Spider-Man #539)
Tumblr media
“I break his hand. It snaps like dry wood. At another time I would’ve taken comfort in the thought that this hand would no longer be able to sell a gun to anybody, or pull a trigger. And maybe I will… later.” The lack of regret here is very notable. People love to use guilt as one of Peter’s biggest traits, without really considering what he feels guilty over. Here his reaction to breaking the hand of a man who was involved, however tangentially, in the harm of his family is that he’ll later feel comfort over it, not guilt. (ASM #539)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“He drops the gun as I break his arm”/”Pick it up. You’ve still got one good arm. Go ahead. (…) I said pick it up!” (ASM #540) It should be noted there’s heavy implication Peter would have killed this man, who fired the gun that injured Aunt May, if he hadn’t been interrupted. The story is what prevents Spider-Man from crossing the intentional kill line, not Peter’s actual morals. In case anyone tries to argue to the contrary, it’s a common error in Spider-Man fandom to attribute every instance where Peter wears the black suit to the Venom symbiote and its influence; in fact, most of the appearances where Peter Parker appears in the black Spider-Man suit have nothing to do with Venom. There’s a cloth version of the black suit, which is what Peter is wearing here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
JMS, who wrote this stretch of Spider-Man, loved a good predator-prey metaphor, with Peter explicitly portrayed as the ultimate predator. (ASM #541)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I turn your entire respiratory system into one big solid chunk of useless tissue and webbing. It takes three seconds.” (ASM #542) This Peter vs Kingpin fight is one of my very favorite Spider-Man fights because Peter’s so deadly effective in it. He’s not worried about anything. He’s just fighting, and Peter just fighting is canonically enough to take out cosmic threats like Firelord. Kingpin is, ultimately, when Peter is unleashed from everything else, no match for him, which Peter demonstrates here. A friend on twitter pointed out recently that there’s something particularly brutal and disturbing about the above panel where Peter lifts Kingpin up by his skin as if it was his shirt, and I agree. The whole thing is a very effective piece of storytelling when it comes to Peter’s rage. The biggest thing for Peter’s violent side for me is that, ultimately, it is rooted in love and protection. His berserk button is either events or recollections of events where the people he loves are hurt. Here, May has been hurt, maybe killed. Mary Jane has been threatened and targeted. All the rules are gone now.
My other favorite thing is one very particular move Peter does when he’s in the depths of his rage. We’re most of us familiar with the fact that Peter can stick to things, like walls, which is a big part of how Spider-Man moves. But when Peter is really angry, he has a thing he does where he sticks his fingers to someone’s face and then pulls their skin off:

(Amazing Spider-Man #598)
Tumblr media
(Amazing Spider-Man #637)
It’s ugly. It’s brutal. It’s some damn good storytelling. And while it’s less direct than these two examples against Norman Osborn and Sasha Kravinoff respectively, Peter also once played the psychological game and bet a child killer would rip the webbing – along with his own skin – off, rather than wait for it dissolve on its own:
Tumblr media
(Spectacular Spider-Man #128)
More than angry or violent, I should note, Peter can be extremely brutal. But more examples of his violent side under the cut.
Tumblr media
Back in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1, Peter was referred to as the world’s most amazing fighting machine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peter takes on Harry’s drug dealers in Amazing Spider-Man #98.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As famous as The Night Gwen Stacy Died is as a story, I find it’s impact often underplayed by a lot of fans. In fact, Peter was very much intent on killing on Norman Osborn at one point within the story, and though ultimately he doesn’t go down that path, Gwen’s death is clearly something that haunts and triggers him in the future. When he thinks Felicia is being threatened on a bridge in Spider-Man/Black Cat: Evil That Men Do #6, for example, he violently reacts:
Tumblr media
Some other examples:
Tumblr media
Amazing Spider-Man #200 – a rematch against the burglar who killed Uncle Ben.
Tumblr media
With Aunt May and her fiance Nathan Lubensky in Amazing Spider-Man #238.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Against both the killer and Daredevil during The Death of Jean DeWolff, a friend of Peter’s, in Spectacular Spider-Man #110.
Tumblr media
Spectacular Spider-Man #120 – Peter confronts a thug who was paid to be part of a scheme chasing tenants from their rent controlled apartments so the property owner could sell the property for much greater profits. Peter’s sense of responsibility can, notably, make him a violent force for justice when he feels others are misusing that responsibility.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spectacular Spider-Man #134 – note the finger grooves in the metal pole where Peter was gripping it.
Tumblr media
Spectacular Spider-Man #135 – here Peter’s anger frightens even Mary Jane.
Tumblr media
Spectacular Spider-Man #173 – Peter reacts to fellow photographer Nick Katzenberg making comments about Mary Jane.
Tumblr media
Amazing Spider-Man #522 – Peter throws Wolverine out of a supposedly unbreakable glass window for making comments about Mary Jane! A pattern.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spectacular Spider-Man #226 – here he is trying to choke out his own clone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here he is, baited into violently attacking Norman Osborn in Spectacular Spider-Man #250.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Violently attacking a fencer involved in the attack of his friend and first love Betty Brant in Amazing Spider-Man #665.
Tumblr media
Breaking the new Vulture’s arms in Amazing Spider-Man #594.
Look, this is really just a scant handful of examples – if you comb through the body of Spider-Man canon, there are a lot more. Up until extremely recently, Peter has never been portrayed as someone who doesn’t have a temper, and a violent one that he works to keep in check but nonetheless occasionally slips. Anything else is a total erasure of decades worth of canon, and whether or not an individual agrees with this portrayal doesn’t erase the fact that it very much was the portrayal for years. And personally I think Peter is a much richer character for this violent side, and the recent erasure of it in both comics and the MCU, and for the past decade or so in fandom, is very disappointing to me. He’s a better character when he’s allowed to be multilayered, and traditionally he is. One thing to remember is that Peter walks around in his entire adult life with the strength of someone who can put his hand easily through unbreakable glass or concrete, and he’s not immune to having his buttons pushed. From a characterization standpoint, it’s not shocking that this is the kind of reaction he displays when he is pushed too far.
