Since I've back on my Infamous kick, I decided to sit down and try to actually figure out Fel's look. I really wanted him to have full silver hair, but it wasn't working for me so black sides for a nice contrast? I like it a lot more, and it still fits his 'very much in love and inspired by moon thanks' vibes, lol.
I also feel a touch bad for him because boy is majorly dysphoric when people can see his freckles and natural hair color, but that's gonna be hard to hide while on a tour bus and in front of cameras constantly. I don't think anyone outside of the band has seen either, not even Orion.
And since I did this for X.O., have some silly headcanons.
• Band is Goodbye Blue Monday. It fit him better than X.O. and I'm glad~ They're more.... indie with folky and minor punky vibes? I always imagine it's a bit like The Decemberists or meWithoutYou's It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All a Dream! It's Alright album?? Like, this song is super Fel! c:
• Fel claims he was a remarkably stupid child, and his main story to back this up is when he was super young, he was terrified of darkness. He thought the moon was too, since it disappeared a lot so he'd sing to it to try to make it feel less scared. Fel's origin story for his singing and song-writing is just his weird compassion and love of the moon.
• Kid went to college but dropped out pretty early into his sophomore due to his crumbling mental health and realizing how much of it was simply trying to please his folks. I imagine this Didn't Go Over Well with them (especially Mom) and it's partly Fel has no love left for them. He may be a bit of a Stepford Smiler, but even he has his limits, thanks! 💖😤💖
• He went to Harvard too, so Mom might've been doubly upset he dropped out. He had planned on eventually going to Law School, but the Band and Seven won out (and he is happier for that, despite ...everything.) That being said, I always feel like his undergrad was in comparative religious studies or something. It just feels very Fel??
• The band's big hit is based for the old fable, the Moon and Her Mother. It became a bit of anthem of shitty relationships (parents) and gaslighting. There's a healthy debate among fans if it's about Seven (and if so, if Seven's the moon or the mother), Fel himself, Fel's own parents, or if there's any true-to-life to it at all since it is based off a fable. Mainly, Fel just hated the fable and wanted to write something for the Moon …and more parental feelings slipped in then Fel realized at the time, lol. Moon's Momma is harsh and Fel didn't realize how harsh at the time. :')
• While he's good at putting on a face and playing up his flirtious and carefree personality, Fel himself is a painfully sweet and anxious soul. Growing up was a lonely experience. His family moved a lot, though always in the Boston and South Shore area, and Fel found himself more often than not bullied by his peers. Weird, stupid, freckles, shy, take your pick. Kids found a lot of flaws to constantly pick and make fun of.
• Fel does have an (obvious) crush on Orion. Orion is a very attractive and smart and dedicated and witty. And more importantly, Orion is safe. Orion tolerates him kindly, but it's nothing more than that. It helps his heart after Seven. I think when he realizes that attraction isn't as one-sided as he thinks, Fel will have an absolute freak out. "Why would you even like me?! Don't you have better taste?"
• Kid's self-image is pooooooooooor.
• Fel enjoys cooking too! There's only so many tv dinners and take-out you can eat, but Fel grew tired of them both about he was 13. He's an exceptionally good cook and baker, and loving cooking for his friends. He makes them all special meals or treats for their birthdays every year and I can't wait for him to cook for Orion for the first time. c:<!!
• Also, Fel definitely has a Thick Boston accent when he talks. He's not embarrassed by it though sometimes he hangs his head when he hits the Boston especially hard.
• Kid also digs Clefairy despite his gothy punk aesthetic, much like X.O. digs Gengar despite her opulent pink aesthetic, lol. ^^;;;
#doodlenonsense#fel kafka#was gonna be fel darling#because i like making seven 'surnames only' lawless#use terribly awkward surnames instead. :)#but 'fk' initials made me giggle too much#you're safe this time seven!

Green Dayyyyy
Going to live events was never really my THING but Green Day being one of my favorite bands on this planet, I will move heaven and earth to see them live.
Anyway, adventure chronicled after the cut:
BART'ed into the city from the East Bay. Our transit system has gotten a bad rep over the years since COVID but the few times I've had to use it, I've never had any issues or weird interactions or anything. I'm probably too nondescript to be bothered with lol
Anyway went with my partner of 25 years who is also a massive Green Day fan (I wouldn't be with him if he wasn't tbh lol), and we managed to navigate to Oracle Park without getting lost, even though I was kinda worried that we'd gotten on the wrong MUNI train but we got to the stadium easily
I'm not a baseball fan so I've never been to Oracle before (and I didn't go to the Hella Mega Tour with Green Day, Weezer, and Fall Out Boy because I was still anxious about COVID) but it's a really nice stadium! And even though the A's are the East Bay team, the whole rigomarole and bullshit about moving the team to Vegas kinda soured me on the A's. But I will be a fair-weather Giants fan, sure. But yeah, Oracle (or AT&T Park as it was known for a while) is a great stadium. And the staff were all cool and helpful and friendly and a lot of them were also excited for the concert.
As soon as we got through the gates, I knew I wanted to get some merch. So I got a Saviors Tour shirt and one for the Linda Lindas too. And I picked up a patch because I'd heard that the patches were specific to each city and the one of San Francisco is pretty simple, but I kinda like it that way?
We got seats on the club level (because I am smol and old and I would not survive in the pit or floor) but I didn't realize how nice it was. Easy access to lots of food and more importantly, bathrooms. We passed by a ton of conssessions options getting to our seats, but we got garlic fries for a snack before the show. And then during the show, (right before Smashing Pumpkins took the stage) I hurried off to get pizza. The counter is run by Tony's Pizza (which is kind of a Bay Area thing, and one of my favorite pizzarias in our area).
And then Green Day happened and everything else is kind of a blur...
They played Dookie AND American Idiot in their entireties and along with some songs from their newest album Saviors (and also Minority and a few others). It was clear that Billie's voice was kind of faltering near the end, but he still had energy and passion and he was powering through it all because it was the homecoming show.
I also think the venue was the best venue because you could see San Francisco Bay and the fog rolling through made it so surreal and magical. Like...when the spotlights shot through that lingering fog and smoke from the pyrotechnics and became shafts of pure light shooting across the crowd
and idk about anyone else but Death of St. Jimmy hits SO MUCH HARDER when you're hearing "he blew his brains out into the Bay" and that's the fucking Bay, that's the Bay, right there. It's the Bay in the song. You can fucking see the fucking Bay. aldkjalsjdlsjkl lsdkjalksd
I sang along and so many other people did too and it was a fantastic experience, almost transcendent and i guess that's the power of live music and an energized crowd
I was trying not take too many photos and videos and just live in the moment but I did get some videos of the crowd when they had all their camera flashlights on and it turned out kinda magical
Had a bit of a walk trying to get back to BART because I didn't want to wait for the next Metro train (which would've taken 20 minutes and walking back to the BART station took less than that) and again, the BART ride back home was uneventful and actually pretty comfortable because I'm still enthused about the new traincars
honestly taking BART to the city and seeing Green Day is probably one of the most Bay Area things to do and I'm so happy that I've gotten to do this both at Oakland and now in San Francisco
i thought Billie roasting Vegas for stealing Oakland's sportsball teams was great and also a little ???? because hey, Vegas is where his very public rant/meltdown happened during that late I Heart Radio Festival set and then he went to rehab soon after so yeah...nothing good happens in Vegas :P
I'll be carrying the memories of last night for the rest of my life
some photos:
View from our club level seats. I was a little worried because Ticketmaster for some reason put in "Obstructed View" on our tickets after I'd bought them but the only obstruction was one of the speaker towers and honestly it wasn't much of an issue because I could still see the screens and most of the stage:
The poles at the stadium had Dookie & American Idiot flags, along with a Saviors tour flag, and also here's a view of the Bay:
The Linda Lindas were greattttt

top 10 bands/artists let's goooo. i was tagged by @findusinaweek (bless you) so here's a loosely ordered list.
1) Hoppipolla. i could, can and have written literally a 2k+ word review on Hoppipolla's second album that turned more into a love poem from me than anything. y'all really don't want me doing this here.
B U T suffice it to say this timy little korean indie melancholia quartet has touched my soul in ways nothing else has. a few of their songs mean more to me than most things in this world do.
also!! world renowned cellist!!! hong jinho!! in the group!! seriously gorgeous, poignant magic these four create together.
the best/worst part is they dropped into the world, released two 10/10 heart stopping albums and then vanished again as if it were nothing.
2) Radiohead. i heard 'in rainbows' for the first time when i was 15 and it's what started me down the road of truly loving music and not just listening to it. radiohead is my baby and were my number one until hoppipolla came along a few years ago. ive been lucky enough to see them twice in concert and both experiences changed my dna i swear.
3) the Mountain Goats. the goats are like placebo in that i couldn't listen to them for a long time because of His Voice and i know that's like a trope at this point.
that was back in high school. now, john darnielle is hands down my favorite songwriter of all time and i unironically love his voice. no one writes lyrics and tells a story like he can and i constantly find myself turning to their music.
4) The Postal Service. death cab for cutie? eh, not bad, but can take or leave. ben gibbard + dntel? masterpiece.
their one and only album, give up, is my number one favorite album of all time and as much as i love it/them, i am SO glad they didn't release another. nothing could compare. anything that tried would only cheapen the debut album.
5) Hozier. i want to lay in the moss and cry and fall in love with a sweet lil cottagecore girl and i get to do that every time i listen to a hozier song
6) My Chemical Romance. my first loves. i was OBSESSED as a teen when they debuted and will still defend their honor today. although suddenly they've become really popular and not something for middle school bullies to pick on me for, so... defense unnecessary.
7) Margot & the Nuclear So and So's. they are so dreary and melancholy and nostalgic and gorgeous. i came across them by accident in high school because i was obsessed with the name margot, saw their name somewhere and immediately went home to totally not pirate them and see what they were about. "my baby (shoots her mouth off)" is one of the songs i send people when i talk about having bipolar, lol. the other being "lovecraft in brooklyn" by the goats.
they just evoke a special kind of feeling that is hard to replicate, and it transports me somewhere when i listen.
8) Erasure. i didn't know they even existed until i moved in with my partner and now i feel like every older queer ive ever met over the course of my life who didn't introduce me to them failed me, honestly
9) Modest Mouse. 'the moon and antarctica' came into my life around the same time 'in rainbows' did and also furthered my realization that music was to be experienced and not just heard. i never get tired of them (except strangers to ourselves. i listened to that album 3/4 of the way through one time and never touched it again sorry)
10) Rammstein. i love the drama!! i love the ferocity!! i love the taboo!! and they are also the reason i studied german so they deserve a spot here.
i'm still getting this account off the ground and haven't really chatted with many of you so im afraid to tag anyone lmao but obviously feel free to do this if you see it

I see your opinion on Rep the album and it’s very interesting! You made some great points there. It was a necessary album tho it had a very important message to deliver in that stage of her career (getting hold of that narrative) but i mostly admire the Tour of all things in that era, what’s your opinion on the Rep Tour?
that's probably a huge driving force of it, the kanye drama for sure. i will say some of it began to take shape before that all though, like i think so it goes was written in some early form at least while she was at the gillette tour stop for the 1989 tour. something crazy like that, i can't remember the exact details tho. so even though that's what rep became, it wasn't entirely the impetus of that shift into dance pop or the only driving force of the album. as much as i want to blame it as "oh her little side project to get herself through that time in her life" i'm like ehhh that wasn't all it was about. it does make me wonder though what TS6 would have been had the kanye phone call shit not happened. less about the sound, which i think was something she already had been set on. but more like when you take away that vengeful component and the chip on her shoulder, what would it have looked like in the bigger picture? my gut is to say Lover is picking up where 1989 left off, but that's not entirely it either. lover was sooooo bright as a reaction to the darkness of rep, so idk! its fun to ponder.
my opinion on the rep tour is kind of moot cuz i didn't go lol. i had great tickets, for what would have been the saturday new york one, which i think ironically was a rain show. buuuuuut i not only hated the album but also the fandom culture at that time was not for me and i sold them, for something around face value i think, if not a little less than i bought them for (demand was not high for that tour in general, but also a lot of fans got face value tickets over scalpers cuz of that points system, rip). swifties have many harmless faults that i can overlook or ignore, but there's a self righteous streak in many that was on another level during rep. self righteousness really rubs me the wrong way, just a personal thing. and i get it, there was a defensiveness and sense of blind loyalty in the face of her public, digital stoning due to how as much as taylor was attacked, swifties felt equally attacked. turning inward towards community in times of turmoil, etc etc i get it, no judgment. i just don't ride for celebrities like that and if swifties have ever been borderline culty, that was the closest it ever got. no judgement again, it's a harmless, and totally voluntary, cult for the most part, just not the vibe for me. so the LAST place i wanted to be, listening to music i mostly dislike, was surrounded by swifties on a self righteous high for 2 hours in the middle of new jersey.
i did try to watch it on netflix, but fast forwarded through 85% of it tbh cuz of the songs i don't like and also....... ugh hot take incoming probably gonna regret this but.... that tour was not The Look for me iykwim. not that that's the only reason anyone can enjoy a tour but if i also don't like the songs? wtf am i there for if she doesn't look hot to me. like in photos sure! but in motion, it's a hard pass. comes back to the try-hard thing again, i am physically squirming with embarrassment when someone is very obviously trying to be sexy, especially in a choreographed way that isn't coming naturally to them. for me, someone is sexy when they're comfortably confident, doing something they're just naturally vibing with or good at, and it exudes from them without them realizing it because they're relaxed, not showing off, and totally at ease. people talk all the time about the dress performance and i'm just like..... this is just.... not..... it for me, sorry to say. maybe when she dips the mic stand i guess? but it's just soooo theatrical and choreographed i'm like no thanks. i also didn't love a lot of the tour costumes ajdlkfjadfkj sorry! everything looked so cheap, although i didn't see it from afar so i can't judge how well it worked in that regard. i thought the like oversized army jacket thing with patches was cool, the black long thing with silver spikes on the shoulders and the belt was cool, and the opening silhouette of the hood was cool, but i'm a bodysuit hater. laaaaazy and boring imo. i get it you need mobility but be creative!!! it was also very dark and i'm anti-dark tour costumes unless they contrast against verrrrrry bright backgrounds in very color block-y ways.
i'm glad you loved it and so many people have incredibly fond and formative memories of it or of being there so i'm glad you are one of them!! I'm just not one of those people, but i don't feel like given my taste, that i personally missed out on much lol.
#i also feel like i made the right choice cuz i see sometimes people wear their rep concert/participation like a badge of honor like#I WAS THERE when it mattered most like bitch#relax i was there when she chipmunk squeaking her way through songs on the radio#watching vlogs of her getting a retainer or whatever like we all have endured hardships for this woman#there's no hierarchy#not you anon or anyone really i know just like attitudes ive seen that i'm like ooooooookay

Today's album: The Mothers of Invention - Freak Out! (1966)
Shit yeah, folks, we got some Zappa today!
When it comes to the Mothers, i know Weasels Ripped My Flesh and We're Only In It For The Money, so i can't wait to get seriously fuckin WEIRD.
A quick Wikipedia search tells me that Freak Out! is:
•the debut Mothers (and therefore also Zappa) album,
•might be the first concept album,
•and also was the first time anybody released a double album for their debut.
Hungry Freaks, Daddy-
Okay, as much as i wanted Tracy Chapman's revolution a few days back, i want these Hungry Freaks around even more.
Florida should be filled with hungry freaks. That feels right and natural, unlike Mr America.
A killer start, and i love any song with prominent kazoo.
I Ain't Got No Heart-
Aro anthem or "free love, no strings" anthem? Hard to tell, could go either way. I guess it depends on how you look at it.
Who Are The Brain Police?-
Who ARE the brain police? Why are the brain police? Kill the cop in your head.
Chaotic instrumentation and lyrics that wouldn't be out of place on a Death Grips album, only Ride would be *way* harsher with it.
MORE KAZOO. I got a fever that can only be cured with plastic and a piece of wax.
Go Cry On Somebody Else's Shoulder-
Doo-wop "nah we should stay broken up" song. "Red House" from the other viewpoint.
I have to wonder if this song was an influence for Weird Al's "One More Minute", as they have some very similar bones.
Motherly Love-
The somewhat rarely-seen "know what? groupies are kinda fuckin awesome" rock song.
Kinda creepy, but I've seen/heard much worse.
How Could I Be Such a Fool?-
Another "she done me wrong" song. Okay. Not great, not terrible. Just okay.
Wowie Zowie-
And now a love song. I know this is the start of side 2, but the tone of the songs are giving me whiplash here. That said, who doesn't like a flash in the afternoon?
You Didn't Try To Call Me-
And another i still love you but you don't love me anymore song. Frank, my dude- they're pissed off about the groupies. Simple as that.
Any Way The Wind Blows-
Okay at this point, if this is a concept album, the concept is roughly the same as How I Met Your Mother, in that it's the story of how a guy ruined every single relationship he was in.
At any rate, an "i don't want YOU anymore, i got HER now!" song. Meh.
I like the instrumentation here, but this song kinda feels unnecessary with all the other songs on the album that are so similar in theme.
I'm Not Satisfied-
Lol, love that Zappa gutteral Yeah! in the intro. There's the Frank i know and love.
The lyrics are sadly relatable, but I'm the dude who sucks plus i got depression. (that was an achewood reference I'm actually doing pretty okay more often than not nowadays, esp. when i don't think about my governor existing)
You're Probably Wondering Why I'm Here-
This is more what i was expecting, coming from the other, later albums.
Hell yeah, kazoo SOLO. *Multiple* kazoo solos, even.
"Oh, you don't like our band? Cool, go fuck yourself. We might be weird, but you're fucking basic and boring as shit."
Trouble Every Day-
Change the TV references to Twitter references and you'll realize that, in the last 57 years, nothing has really fundamentally changed in any way.
This song could be released tomorrow and still be relevant to what's going on. Zappa knew from the beginning that America was sliding towards a fascist theocracy, and it really shows here.
Cops are still racist pricks actively beating the shit out of people (well, they put down the nightsticks and picked up ARs, but yeah.)
This nation is still inherently extremely racist.
And the media and all the out-of-touch fuckers in charge keep telling us "there's nothing we can do about it (unless you give us more money)!"
Help, I'm A Rock-
The return of the Weird.
I've heard this song's title as a punchline before, but this is my first time actually hearing the song, and it's exactly as weird as i was hoping it would be.
It's a drag being a rock. Think I would rather be the mayor.
Chaotic as hell. Also, i was glad i was wearing headphones when the orgasm noises appeared out of the noise. I can't even begin to imagine how much people of the time hated this.
It can't happen here. Everybody's safe and it can't happen here. No freaks for us and if can't happen here.
(It's happening here. It has been for years and it likely won't ever stop happening here.)
The Return Of The Son of Monster Magnet-
Suzy Creamcheese's first appearance in the discography. (So, until today, I legitimately always thought Suzy Creamcheese was like a late 60s porn star or something. Come to find out just now that it was just an inside joke started by Zappa that blew out of proportion. Today i learned..)
Decidedly the most experimental song on the album. The sounds of Space Madness.
Ooh, picked out a theremin during the space madness section. Fuck yeah.
The lyrics on Spotify have officially broken at this point. They simply do not know how to handle this song.
Space Madness has devolved into more orgasms and speaking in tongues. Yeah, i bet people in the late 60s either totally loved or vehemently hated this, depending on their usage of... substances. (Love me a good substance. Especially some cream cheese. Put it on a toasted bagel and I'm set.)
The last half of this song is the sheer insanity i had been waiting for.
So, for a guy who claimed to never do drugs, this album IS drugs. It's been interesting to see where Zappa et al started from, because it makes me appreciate the later stuff that much more. Thank the gods that Zappa decided to fully Embrace the Weird as he continued his career.
Not my favorite album of theirs, but I'm glad i finally got around to listening to it.
Favorite Track: While i really want to say Trouble Every Day, i have to say Help, I'm A Rock beat it by a hair. Might be unfair to Trouble, since the latter song is like 3 times longer and 5 times weirder, but Trouble Every Day just made me too sad on reflection to give it the top spot.
Least Favorite Track: You Didn't Try To Call Me. This song is already on the album in 2 different spots. The album is long enough, imo it really doesn't need a third song about the exact. same. idea.

Hi! This will probably be quick but wanted to send you something cuz this week might be a lot. Please send good vibes for me haha. I'm glad you had a nice weekend at the hockey game! Oh cool.. I'm pretty near there..for some reason, I just assumed you were maybe in LA since that's where most people would visit. My favorites are also spring and summer and it is pretty much half and half! I always thought maybe it's cuz my bday is right between them too. I think summer gets too hot sometimes but I'm glad you enjoyed sunshine. I thought maybe you might be more into the fall vibes though. I hope your allergies are okay. Aww that's sweet that you would think of me! I hope you have fun at your Fall Out Boy show which I think is soon.
Thanks for reassuring me for still talking about Taylor. So you were right..she announced a new bonus track! I was kinda surprised since I thought this would be more like the way it was with Folklore and Evermore which only had 1 and 2. I wonder how many there will be and if they will feel like part of the album or not or more like the extra 3AM tracks on Midnights. Of course they still feel part of the album, and that might be cuz we actually were able to hear them all right after the album. That's probably my one complaint about it..and I know it will be online right away but I just like having the full picture of the album. I think this might be my favorite cover so far too. This time, the name didn't make me think of anything or give me any idea of the song. All I knew Is that it's the name of a bird. But i liked the lyric and it made me wonder more if it went with that song. I will keep your predictions of these other lyrics in mind but I haven't thought about it much yet. If these are the only lyrics we end up with, I will make predictions. I was just looking at the Midnights ones and I got half right. What did you think? I was also off with surprise songs as usual and she is doing more mashups than I thought which is cool to see.
The comment in the Time article was about her locking herself away for years and I was nervous how that connects to Fresh out of the Slammer and just hope it's more metaphorical than literally blaming anyone. That's number 7 which is why I brought it up. That would be fun for you to tell me your fav and least fav so I can guessI feel like mine would be very easy to guess since I already talked about some but okay!
Debut...Marys Song, Cold As You (very hard to pick..this is a song I always forget and never hear so I went with it lol)
Fearless the way I loved you, We Were Happy, Love Story
Speak Now Enchanted, Never Grow Up
Red.ATW10, State of Grace, We are Never, Babe lol
1989 all you had to do was stay, Clean
rep Don't Blame Me, Gorgeous
Lover You need to calm down, Daylight
Folklore The Lakes, Illicit Affairs
Evermore It's Time to Go, Evermore
Midnights Question? Mastermind,
Oh those shows seem fun to go see! At least you can see the tour if the Wicked movie ends up being a big disappointment. I'm glad you will be able to see or enjoy shows again and I hope I will too eventually. You'll have to tell me how they are. Also I did your emoji book poll and thought it was funny that I ended up picking the choice for this summer will be different which is definitely on my list already but you introduced me to some others. I will hopefully be able to read it by this summer since summer is in the title lol. Omg I just realized Every Summer After had it in its title too lol and I'm still planning to finish Meet Me at the Lake. I really enjoy summer stories it seems and stories about grief mostly. I'm interested in How to end a love story and this is me trying now..you'll have to tell me if you end up liking them. It reminds me a bit of Stepping Off Place which is also a summer story too lol I really hope to get back to reading soon. I hope you have a nice week! I always enjoy talking to you! 🩷
hi hi!! i hope you had a good week 🤍 i was thinking of you during the week!!
i feel like i go to california quite a bit although i'm very rarely in the LA area — i might take a trip down next year to the palm springs area to go catch a hockey game though! but yes, normally when i'm in california i'm over closer to san jose (like a 45 minute drive from there i think)!
i did have fun at fall out boy!! i still maintain that no concert should be that long (started at 6:30, got out around 11:15) though (just because i like being in my bed early haha). didn't get home till closer to 12:30 but that's ok! i was worried i wouldn't have fun because i didn't know as many songs as i wanted to but it was still a blast!!
did you see the new bonus track? the black dog? i'm really curious about what it'll be about! i saw something about black dog / mythology, and that would make a lot more sense over the literal black dog i was thinking of haha. i often think of midnights with 3am, but i think without the 3am midnights as an album goes down quite a bit in my rankings! i don't know how i feel about the mashups — i feel like sometimes they're clunky but i do like them in theory? i don't know though. i'm curious to see if she's going to just keep doing mashups for the rest of the tour or if she'll change it up a bit.
oh i really didn't like that comment! there were some things in general that have just made me 😵💫. oh well!
okay let's see — these are my guesses (and i feel like they're all wrong, but i bolded what i think are your favorites!)
debut: mary's song or cold as you
fearless: the way i loved you, we were happy, love story
speak now: enchanted, never grow up
red: atw10, state of grace, we are never ..., babe
1989: all you had to do was stay, clean
rep: don't blame me, gorgeous
lover: you need to calm down, daylight
folklore: the lakes, illicit affairs
evermore: it's time to go, evermore
midnights: question?, mastermind
alright my turn! i also think this will be easy, but we'll see —
debut: tied together with a smile, stay beautiful
fearless: bye bye baby, jump then fall
speak now: speak now, dear john
red: sad beautiful tragic, i knew you were trouble
1989: new romantics, bad blood
rep: this is why we can't have nice things, new year's day
lover: you need to calm down, afterglow
folklore: mirrorball, mad woman
evermore: right where you left me, dorothea
midnights: dear reader, karma
i still have not ended up reading the book that won the emoji poll!! it has been a busy week over here, but i'm hoping to read it soooon ! i also really love stories about grief and summer! have a good rest of your weekend my friend! 🤍 happy march!

Oddinary Song Review
Aight. I've had all day to listen the album. I took notes while listening at work, but I've had a few extra thoughts about some songs, so this might be a mess. My review is under the line! :) Fair warning, I talk about Felix a lot. Lol
Venom: – Seungmin's voice as always is perfection! – Pew, pew, pew! – I can't get over how well Hyunjin's voice works with the song. He sounds amazing (I mention it in another song and will explain why I think it works). – The second the song dropped for the bridge, I knew Felix was coming and Changbin was going to be in the vicinity; it is a fairly predictable element of some of their songs (not that I'm complaining). – Unfortunately, the teaser made this song sound like it was going to hit so much harder than it does, but that's okay. It's still a bop and a great warm up into what follows. – I sorta get lost in who's singing/rapping simply because there's a lot going on. I pretty much recall Hyunjin, Seungmin, and Chan parts the most because they are more memorable. Again, I still love the song.
Maniac: – One of my top three from this album. Might make it's way up there to one of my top songs overall. I'm addicted to it. – The start gives me a Middle Eastern vibe that I love when I think of the entire song. It's different and makes the song unique (in my opinion). And the way it leads into the killer sound of the first verse. 😩 <- That's a good emoji. – Felix's voice. That's it (this is seriously what I wrote in my notes). – I seriously love I.N in this! You can almost hear the joy in his voice and I'm all about that. He's so adorable. – The way Felix and Hyunjin say "Frankenstein" is perfect. I'm addicted. – The bridge is a little off-putting amongst the amazing beats. It sorta feels like an excuse to get Seungmin's vocals in there (which are always top notch). I don't know. It's not bad, but doesn't quite fit like I would hope. Honestly, let's get some Seungmin rapping up in here! – Chan! That note! Ooh! – Honestly, I love Changbin's "haha" because it sounds like a drill and it's absolutely perfect for this song.
Charmer: – Another of my top three. I can't place it though. I love my top three too much to place them. – This one starts off feeling a lot more like traditional Asian music (generalizing) even though the song makes me think of a snake charmer (I think India has snake charmers, right?). – "You can't resist it;" yeah, no I can't when Felix is saying it breathlessly in my ears later on in the song. 🥴 – Every single whistle reminds me of Assassin's Creed. It makes me pause just for a second every time. – "Ppiripparappiri baem!" This part just perfect when Felix does it. I'm biased (on another listen, I'm unsure if the first time is actually Felix because I'm horrible at picking voices out most of the time). – GET IT CHANGBIN! – That bassy beat is ooh! – Hyunjin's voice is also perfection in this song (again, I explain later). – "Imma cha-MAH," although this is starting to sound like "trauma" with how often I've heard it today. 😂 – Seungmin's little vocal fry in the bridge is something I didn't realize I needed. He really has such incredible control over his voice. Wow. – Felix holding out that 's' sound at the end to complete the snake charmer vibe the song gives me. 😍
땡Freeze: – Changbin's start with Felix and Han following is always a solid choice. – Again, I love Seungmin's voice in this AND Lee Know shines, too! 😍 – "ddang" – Sometimes Chan's voice is perfectly full for his parts and it is as true as ever for this. Gosh. What's it like to have that voice? – I'm so ready to blast this song in my car. It'll fall apart with the dubstep/trap sound since it's so tiny. 😂 – Chan's vocals truly are a gift I think Stays need more of and I also love how we seem to get a lot of Lee Know in this, which is a treat (I have the hardest time recognizing his voice for some reason, but I seem to notice it a lot more in this song).
Lonely St.: – We won't talk about how annoyed I am that "street" isn't spelled out (AP Style writing haunts me now that I work at a newspaper). – Rock vibes are life and the strength behind Changbin and Chan's voices is amazing; they really help grab attention before rolling into Felix's deep voice that is often hard to hear when it goes really deep (I'm sad that I honestly don't hear it as well I want to 😭). – Personally, I don't think Hyunjin and Lee Know's voices stand out well in the rock style only because they have softer voices, pure, in a sense. Han's voice is shining though! – Almost too short of a song. I could honestly do with some more!
피어난다(Waiting For Us): – Mad love for this song; they picked the best voices for this sorta song. – The soft guitar that leads into the soft rock sound as it goes on is so nice, a breath of fresh air these days. – Unf Chan's voice! And I.N's! I'm in love. 😍 – I get 90s teen rom com feels from that and I'm all about it. I actually pictured a few scenes from films I've seen. – Again, Seungmin is lead vocalist for a reason (Is it lead or main? Lead right? Sounds right)! – I just wrote, "Lee Know! Just Lee Know!" He's hitting hard this comeback. – The adlibs are life.
Muddy Water: – Also top three for a thousand reasons – I'm obsessed with the old record sounding 20s esque beginning. Obsessed. – Lofi sound (that no one has mentioned at all in all the reviews I've seen) with 90s style raps brought me back. I vibe with this song and rap songs are often skipped when I listen to them (sorry "We Go" and "The Tortoise and the Hare") – I can't begin to explain the love and adoration I have for Felix's voice in this. Holy shit (I laugh that I wrote that at work). – Hyunjin once again shining with his voice in this. I originally said it's whiny (in a good way), which is why it works, but on my way home from work I realized it's different. It's like an uncaring tone. Almost like he's lazy, but clearly not with him spitting fire. It's such a beautiful contrast from the rougher sounds of the other three voices. – Han popping off though! Ooh! – I seriously can't get over the lofi sound in the background. I'm utterly in love with this song.
Overall: Everyone was saying NOEASY is a no-skip album. I think that's incorrect (mostly because I often skip "Secret, Secret" and now just a majority of them). Oddinary is the no-skip album. Every song just hits different and hits right. Even the slowness of "Waiting For Us" isn't deserving of a skip (I'm not usually a fan of slower songs). I seriously can't get over this album. I got YouTube music for a free trial just to listen to the songs without ads and the annoyance of only being allowed to shuffle (not worth paying for Spotify right now and I used my free trial). That's how in love with this album I am. I can't wait to hold the physical album in my hands tomorrow (please be more reliable that USPS, Fedex!).
Thank you for reading my crazy long opinion of each individual song on this album. Enjoy your listens, y'all!

exile - kth
pairing: taehyung x reader (ft. namjoon x reader)
genre: angst, tae and y/n are exes
warnings: really angsty.... there are arguments and screaming matches in here... sort of toxic relationship? they're bad at communication
word count: 3.4k
summary: it took you five whole minutes to pack the entirety of your relationship with taehyung and to leave.
note: I'M BACK!! namjoon has like one line in this i'm so sorry T.T there's like zero fluff. like absolutely no fluff. and chaeyoung makes an appearance in this! it's up to you if u wanna picture park chaeyoung (rosé) as chae or son chaeyoung from twice as chae lol.
ALSO! this is based on taylor swift and bon iver's song exile on the folklore album! i do not own the song or the lyrics in any way, shape or form.
/
i can see you standing, honey
with his arms around your body
taehyung walks out of the store, scrolling through his phone. his day is just as mundane as it was yesterday and will be tomorrow. it’s been mundane since he last saw you.
his feet suddenly come to a stop when he hears your laugh ahead of him, but he shakes his head, reprimanding himself for thinking about you again. he’s about to continue his way down the street when he hears you laughing again and he looks away from his phone to see you laughing in someone else's arms.
he blinks. once, twice.
you’re there. you’re really there. he can hear his heart pounding in his ears and falling to his feet and jumping up into his throat all at once at the mere sight of you. you seem to notice him too, eyes widening before looking up at whoever you’re with. only then does taehyung register the fact that you’re not alone — you’re with someone else while he still wonders what went wrong every night before he sleeps.
you look happy. pure, genuine happiness is written in your eyes. the stranger’s arms are wrapped around you as you avoid taehyung’s eyes, continuing down the street as you listen to what your partner is saying. taehyung feels sick to his stomach.
laughin', but the joke's not funny at all
“you know, i’ve been thinking about removing my spine. i feel like it’s only holding me back!”
as you walk closer towards taehyung, he can hear the joke the other man is making.
you let out another laugh just as you walk right past him and he frowns. that is one of the worst jokes taehyung has ever heard and you laughed at it like it’s one of the best. which is misleading, considering the fact that taehyung used to tell you jokes all the time. his jokes were definitely funny. how have your standards gotten so low?
he lets out a breath he didn’t even realise he’d been holding, but this only allows him to smell your perfume, and it’s still the same perfume he’d given you on your last birthday.
your last birthday is probably the last time he really felt content. whole.
to pack us up and leave me with it
and it took you five whole minutes
holdin' all this love out here in the hall
taehyung doesn’t like to think of you because in spite of all the good memories, your last argument still ricochets in his head. withstanding the shouts and crashes is impossible when all he wants is to remember you laying in his arms, sharing a tub of ice cream.
three weeks after your birthday, you and taehyung sit at the dining table in silence, staring down intensely at your food. you haven’t fought since the week after your birthday, when you threw insults at each other just because the other couldn’t keep up with chores, or call to say they were okay. taehyung still thinks about the way you shouted at him.
-
“i don’t remember why i ever wanted to be with you!”
taehyung exhales, running a hand through his hair. “you don’t mean that, y/n. you’re just upse-”
“upset? yeah, i am upset. why shouldn’t i be? am i the one making mistakes? no! it’s you. it’s all you, taehyung!” you yell. “you have some nerve, taehyung.”
“so now it’s my fault? everything is my fault, because you’ve been the perfect girlfriend this whole time. you haven’t made a single mistake, and you have nothing to own up to, because you’re just so, so perfect, aren’t you, y/n?” taehyung is breathless and his blood is boiling.
“shut up! i don’t care. talk to me when you’re mature enough to own up to your mistakes.” you walk off and slam the bedroom door, leaving taehyung speechless. “real mature, y/n! go ahead, keep slamming the doors like it makes you any more mature.”
-
taehyung is jolted back into the present when he hears you set your fork down onto your plate. “tae, are you going to finish that? i’m about to wash the dishes,” you speak quietly, standing up to go to the kitchen. “i’ll wash it myself,” he replies, and he watches you enter the kitchen without a word.
he follows you in after a few minutes, where you’ve just finished washing your own dishes. instead of leaving, you lean against the island counter and he looks back at you. “i think we need to talk, tae.”
taehyung lets out a low chuckle as he looks down at the sink. “go ahead,” he’d already seen this coming, but now that it’s here, he doesn’t know how to act.
you’re silent. only when taehyung faces you do you speak. “i think we should break up,” you start. “i know,” he replies. “is this okay with you?” you reach out for his hand but he runs it through his hair before you get the chance to.
“y/n, you don’t have to stay if you’re not happy. regardless if i’m okay with it or not, i can’t just ask you to stay for my sake.” he sighs. he’s handling this better than he thought.
“thank you, taehyung.” you’re crying, but you wipe away your tears before they can fall. “i’ll… i’ll go soon.” you don’t look at him because you if you do, you know you’ll be crying your eyes out and convincing yourself to stay.
taehyung sits on the couch and stares straight ahead at the television screen, which is playing an action movie he has no intention to pay any mind to. all he can focus on is the sound of you shuffling around behind him, packing everything you own into your suitcase. he thinks about how easy it is for you to pack up the entirety of your relationship in a few minutes.
“tae?” you call out, standing by the door. his heart shatters when he realizes this is probably the last time he’ll see you in a long time. he gets off the couch and takes in your face, capturing your visage into his memory one last time. when you reach out for his hand, he doesn’t avoid it again. he won’t be able to do this again.
“i love you,” he whispers. “i love you too,” you look down at your intertwined hands before walking out and closing the door, leaving all the love behind with taehyung.
if you’ve thought about him since then, you won’t admit it, and he doesn’t know it.
i think i've seen this film before
and i didn't like the ending
taehyung refuses to think about the breakup again. he hates the way it ended.
you're not my homeland anymore
so what am i defending now?
taehyung watches you walk farther and farther away from him, and all he wants to do is reach out for you. he wants to rip you away from that stranger and feel you in his arms again, feel your warm hand in his.
but you’re not his anymore, and he let you go all those months ago. he has no reason to feel this way. the green eyed monster shouldn’t be clawing away at his rational thoughts, yet still taehyung’s feet are begging to let him run after you and make you his again. he wants to return things back to the way they were, to the pure love you had for each other.
he has no reason to feel this way.
you were my town, now i'm in exile, seein' you out
when did things change? you were his home and his heart. it’s been months and he still doesn’t understand.
i can see you starin', honey
like he's just your understudy
you’re laughing at another one of namjoon’s jokes when you feel someone’s eyes on you, their stare heavy. when you look ahead, it’s taehyung. the same taehyung who you left alone in his apartment all those months ago. the same taehyung you laid with in bed every night. the same taehyung whose shirt you spilt coffee all over, and the same taehyung you met at the museum all those years ago.
it’s taehyung.
your eyes widen and you turn away as quicker than you can blink, muttering underneath your breath. “it’s my ex.” namjoon’s grip around you tightens. sneaking a glance at taehyung again, you can see how his eyes are unblinking. it’s not written on his face or in his body language, but from his eyes alone you can already tell how he feels about namjoon.
there is nothing violent or scary about his stare, but it’s almost arrogant. he looks at namjoon like he’s just a temporary replacement despite the fact that you both know you’re never getting back together.
like you'd get your knuckles bloody for me
taehyung isn’t a violent person. he’s the type of person to calmly talk things out, the type of person to break up a fight. he’d never even hurt a fly. once, you watched as he picked up a spider and let it crawl across the balcony railing while you shrieked from inside.
so it’s shocking when you watch as his hands twitch and his jaw clenches. taehyung’s definitely protective, but what does he have to protect now? why does he look like he’s about to pummel namjoon into the ground? he agreed to let you go.
second, third, and hundredth chances
balancin' on breaking branches
you gave him so many chances. so many opportunities to apologize.
but did he? no.
those eyes add insult to injury
he probably thinks you got over him quicker than you did. in fact, it took you weeks that bled into months to get over him. there were numerous occasions where you considered knocking on his door and taking it all back, but you never could. it drained you emotionally just thinking about it.
“he made you so happy, y/n,” chaeyoung says as she tries to shake you out of your trance. “just text him or something.” giving up, she flops down next to you on the bed, snatching the tub of ice cream out of your hands.
you groan, shoving your face deeper into the pillow. “he hurt me so bad, chae. i don’t know if i can just forget about it all just to go back to him,” you sit up and let her feed a spoonful of ice cream into your mouth.
“you don’t have to date him again, dummy. it’d still be a good idea for you to get some closure at the very least, right?” you hate how chaeyoung is always right, especially when it comes to these situations. “i don’t want closure.” you state grumpily. “i’m just gonna stay here with you every day and cry about how much i miss him.”
“if you’re gonna do that at least buy your own ice cream…” she hums, and you grin at her before eating another spoonful.
you don’t like the way he’s looking at namjoon. it only rubs in the fact that he’s being jealous when he has no right to be.
it’s completely unfair.
i'm not your problem anymore
so who am i offending now?
before you broke up, he was always complaining about the little things you would or wouldn’t do, nitpicking at the simplest of details. in time, you got used to his nagging and he got used to your habits. even now, in your head, you still hear his voice reminding you to do this and not to do that.
his friends didn’t seem to like you all that much, so you tended to stay home whenever taehyung invited you to spend the night out with his friends. although he’d always frowned whenever you turned him down, he’d brush it off and leave you alone to your sleepless nights waiting up for him.
“text me next time if you’re coming home late, okay?” you whisper as you look at his fluttering eyelashes under the covers.
“i will,” he mumbles sleepily before drifting off, arms tightly wrapped around you.
he never remembered to text you.
it’s foolish of him to look at you like that. he looks agitated and offended and sad all at once but what could you do? he wasn’t yours and you weren’t his to take care of anymore.
i think i've seen this film before
so i'm leaving out the side door
you hate the way he’s making you feel in only a few short seconds, so you look up at namjoon again and laugh at whatever joke he’s making again. it took you this long to get over taehyung and you weren’t going to throw it all away just because you’ve seen him again.
so step right out, there is no amount
of crying i can do for you
when taehyung arrives home, the first thing he does when he gets into his bed is cry. he’s always been alarmingly good at suppressing his emotions but seeing you again after so long has taken its toll on him.
he hasn’t cried like this in a while, but it hurts just as much as the last time.
-
two hours later, taehyung stares up at the ceiling when he suddenly feels the urge to text you. before he knows it, his fingers are typing away uncontrollably and pressing the send button. instead of reading what he sent you, he sets his phone down on his bedside table and falls asleep.
when you arrive home that night, you check your notifications and choke on your spit when you see that taehyung has sent you a message. “chae,” you call out, throwing yourself onto the couch. humming, she comes out of her room. “taehyung texted me.”
her eyes bulge out as she throws herself onto you and pulls your phone out of your grasp. “no way!” she yells, standing up and raising her hands up to her mouth. “you’re kidding me!”
“don’t get too excited!” you laugh, sitting up straight. “he just wants to meet for coffee. it’s no big deal!”
“no big deal? y/n, you haven’t spoken since you broke up!” she lets out a breath, placing her hands on her hips. “he has some god-level timing. right when you and namjoon start going out? unbelievable.”
you reach for your phone, almost tumbling off the couch when chaeyoung pretends she's not returning it to you. begrudgingly sighing, she throws the phone into your lap and cuddles into your side and continues her earlier humming. "it doesn't matter if namjoon asked me out or not. there's going to be nothing romantic about our meetup. we're just gonna talk about whatever he wants to talk about and that's it!" you decide. if you keep repeating it to yourself in your head like a mantra you might start to believe it.
"isn't it strange though? how he's texting you out of nowhere after months and months? he's thinking about you, y/n!" chaeyoung giggles.
"well," you start. "i did see him earlier today while i was out on my date with namjoon…" chaeyoung whips her head around to look at you, shock written all over her face. "y/n, you're joking," squealing, she flails her legs around giddily. "you guys are meant to be. nsmjoon won't mind. he'll understand when he sees you two together."
"chae!" you whine. it would be devastating to break namjoon's heart after how good he's been to you. "i can't break his heart like that, he's done nothing wrong! he's a perfectly sweet guy and he really does care about me."
"are we talking about taehyung or namjoon?" chaeyoung teases, a smirk on her lips.
"chae…" you groan.
"fine, fine! i'll stop. but you have to meet him for that coffee. it's going to be the best coffee meeting you'll ever have in your life. i can feel it in my bones."
you hate how you hope she's right.
-
never being the patient type, your leg bounces restlessly as you wait for taehyung at your table. the coffees you bought for the two of you are still steaming hot when you look up to the sound of the door bells jingling and lock eyes with taehyung, who gives you a sheepish smile.
"hey," he starts. sliding into the chair opposite you. "you didn't have to get me this," he motions toward the coffee.
pushing his cup closer towards him, you shake your head, a tight-lipped smile plastered across your face. "it's nothing," you reply. "so why did you want to meet me here?"
unbeknownst to namjoon, you didn't cancel your plans with him because you had a supposed dentist appointment. if you told him you were going to meet taehyung he surely would've stood guard outside your door to prevent you from leaving while chae would lecture him on letting you make your own decisions.
it was easier this way.
"i just figured we haven't talked in a while. what's up with you? how's it going?" he says. you narrow your eyes at him and take a sip of your coffee. "what reason do we have to talk? we're not in each other's lives anymore." you decide. setting down your cup, your fingers lightly drum against the table, and you watch as his face drops and his eyebrows furrow.
"maybe if you didn't walk out on us we'd still be in each other's lives," he mutters. "w-what?" you gasp, taken aback. "you let me go! i asked you and you said it was fine. would you rather have us both unhappy but still in a relationship?"
leaning back, he sighs. "i was happy, y/n. you-"
"but not happy enough! not the natural happiness that wasn't always on the edge of turning sour. didn't you notice, taehyung? all this time, we've always walked a very thin line." you rant, your feelings getting the best of you. "i didn't and i don't want you to settle for the bare minimum, lo- taehyung." your heart stutters when you almost let his old pet name slip, his eyes meeting yours, unblinking.
taehyung stares at you for a moment. "and how did you know, y/n? that i wasn't happy? that i wasn't content or whole in our relationship?" you pause, throat constricting. "yea, i let you go. but i didn't want to. not for a single second did i ever consider willingly letting you slip away from me. but what could i do? you still left, i had to let you because i knew you'd be happier. but ypu, you didn't even hear me out, and you never gave a warning sign."
"i gave so many signs!" you protest. "i-"
"and i was just supposed to catch on? you couldn't even say it straight to my face?" he's unrelenting, eyes burning holes into your soul. he's angry and he's hurting and you know it's partially your fault. maybe even wholly. "all this time, i never learned to read your mind." he scoffs.
"yea, i guess you never learned to read my mind. and i'm sorry i expected that much from you! but you never turned things around. you didn't try to figure out what was going wrong and if we could mend it." you sputter, and you feel your cheeks starting to heat up.
"i'm saying! you never gave a warning sign. what could i do?" you've never seen taehyung look so small and defeated, and your heart aches in your chest. all you want to do is take him into your arms and tell him everything will be alright.
yet you can't. maybe all those months ago you could've. and you thought you had moved on and you thought he had too, but it's become glaringly obvious that none of you have.
"tae…" his eyes widen and he blinks at you. "taehyung! taehyung. i should go…" you murmur. taking his hand, you study the lines on his palm and the divots on his knuckles and let out a watery smile.
"you always do," he replicates your smile and watches as you stand up. "i love you."
"i love you too," you whisper.
when you walk away, you half expect him to chase after you and beg for you to stay, but you know it's too selfish of you to want it.
when you walk away, he half expects you to turn around like they always do in the movies, but he knows your pride always gets the best of you.
you've both seen this film before, and neither of you liked the ending.
