Somewhere I saw this idea of a very specific mutual pining dynamic.

In it, Partner A has crushed on Partner B for so long that they just live with it.

Meanwhile, Partner B falls so disasterously and suddenly head over heels that they don't know how to handle it

Anyway that's how I see Skoodge and Zim.

Mind you Skoodge had nothing else to do after conquering Blorch and out of all the places in the universe he could go and all the things he could do, he chose to spend the long rest-of-his-life hanging out in Zim's basement and helping him with his mission. There's gotta at least be SOME pining fueling that decision. What a guy.
