#i've had really good mexican food at one place in zurich but it's co-run by a mexican chef and a white dude from san diego#(it is pointedly SD style though-- with carne asada everything including california burritos)#also had okay food (good flavors bad salsa no corn tortillas) at a restaurant in edinburgh#every other experience of mexican food brought to you europeans has been shockingly atrocious#not just not-mexican but actively bad :/#thinking abt the time they had ''''quesadillas'''' (pron. KWE-sa-dil-lias) at the uni buffet in [redacted] and it was just a casserole???#like a pot pie with a flaky layer of something vaguely reminiscent of flour tortillas on top#they served it scooped out from a giant dish like lasagne#i wish i had a picture but this was 11 years ago and i didn't get a smartphone until several months later#polls
