10 and 11 for the ask game! just with any oc of your choice 🦗👍
10. What is your hero characters relationship with their humanity?
Skylar doesn't actually realize that they're human for a good bit LOL. That being said, everyone else sorta picks up on it before them because they're the classic "amnesiac child who might be from another dimension and weirdly doesn't know how to be a pokemon" thing, and PSMD didn't happen that long ago and everyone knows about Kit and Eris (name pending). And it was confirmed to them later.
Skylar... isn't all too fond of it. And they can't explain why. Anytime they try to, their mind just... sorta stops working. So they prefer not to. They don't even bring it up to Valerie until like, five chapters in currently? And even then Asha mentions it, not them.
They prefer being an Espurr. Psychic powers are cool ^^
11. What was the partner characters past like?
Going with Kiran (GTI Partner)
It's... rough. It's pretty similar to canon where xe used to be alone and resented everyone just like Virizion, before realizing xe was exhausted of it. But I threw in a couple more details and tweaks.
Kiran hatching alone doesn't work with my lore, eggs ONLY hatch if other Pokemon are around. So instead, xyr parents raised xem for a bit, but then once they viciously fell out, Kiran was tossed into the river and was alone from then on. (And I'm still indecisive on this, but xe's most likely a hisuian zorua because of this..... xe didn't survive the ordeal.)
I think the zorua family has a particularly bad rep due to their illusions making them untrustworthy. So Kiran had to use illusions extensively to avoid being treated poorly. Maybe even used them to steal things here and there, just to survive. It was awful and xe hated it. Xe didn't see the point in living in a world like this.
One day, in the snowy mountains, Kiran collapsed on the path, hungry and weakened from a rough encounter, in xyr true form. The local pokemon left Xem be. No one wanted to help. Kiran was unfazed and ready to let go...
... Until a strange equine pokemon xe didn't recognize approached xem. They were horrified at xyr condition and nursed xem back to health, sparing their own food and supplies on xem. Kiran almost refused, believing it to be a cruel prank, but they insisted, so xe reluctantly obliged.
The pokemon stayed with Kiran for a few days, talking with xem and comforting xem. When Kiran asked what they wanted, they said they didn't want anything, they just couldn't leave xem there to die. Kiran bitterly asked why not. They responded that that's not the way they want to live, ignoring pokemon in need.
They couldn't stay- they said something about being on a tough journey to some sort of "glacier" or whatever. So they left Kiran with some money and more food, told xem to live on, and went on their way.
That encounter changed something in Kiran. Xe felt warm for the first time in xyr life. And... xe wanted to spread that warmth. Xe wanted to change things for the better. Do nice things because it feels good. Which planted the idea for paradise in xyr head. For the next few years, xe started to train, save up money... and just be a good person, looking out for others, breaking the cycle where xe can....
Because this happens sorta soonish before the events of the game, Kiran's still in the habit of using illusions to avoid suspicion, though. So xe uses an oshawott disguise, thinking xe can just live like this forever... shedding xyr ugly old self... Before Eris (name pending) learns about this and tells xem to knock it off and live as xyr true self. Over the course of the game, xe become more comfortable living as a zorua, even using other illusions just for fun and games, not for survival...
