Top 15 Maiko moments

Since I made a Kataang list, and I think it's only fair I do it for Maiko too.

#15 - Casually leaning against each other during a meal (03x05)

I'm starting off the list with the neverending trend that is "Maiko being unbelievably clingy."

I just can't deal witht he fact that these two both have demonstrated some difficulty/discomfort when other people get too touchy with them - yet you leave them in a room together and these motherfuckers suddenly think they're siamese twins.

They're not even trying to be romantic, they just... naturally gravitated towards each other and stayed in that position because it's what feels familiar and comfortable for them.

I remind you guys that The Beach is the episode in which they are at the most incompatible, yet even that episode is visually showing us "These dumbasses are so in love they just naturally act like a couple without even meaning to."

#14 - "It'll be nice to Zuko again. Won't it, Mai?" & Baby Mai's crush on Baby Zuko (02x03 & 02x07)

I know, I know, I'm cheating with this one because they are two separete moments from two different episodes, but SUE ME, I couldn't pick a favorite between them, and I also didn't want to remove the previous moment from the list, and "Top 16" just doesn't doesn't feel right.

I just love the way Mai is acting all shy whenever she so much as looks at Zuko in "Zuko Alone", how she clearly WANTS to hang out with him but doesn't really know how to start a conversation with him and feels all awkward.

And then years later, in the middle of a mission, she's just... happy that she might see him again, even if it's not in the most ideal situation. It's cute and I love it when Mai is happy and showing some of the emotions that hide behind her apathy for seemingly everything and everyone.

#13 - Grumpy dumbasses at the party (03x05)

On this one, those two just skipped several years ahead and went straight to "Bickering like a couple that has been married for fourty years, are clearly about to fight, yet refuse to get any space because WHY would they want to be away from each other? What a strange notion!"

Seriously, I lost count of how many times my grandparents had that exact same conversation when they're feeling the need to be difficult, and that scene made me have the same reaction I always have during these moments:

They're annoyed at each other, yet they just... refuse to not to be near each other. And Mai's first instinct when she wants something is to tell Zuko to go get it for her, and he does because, once again, they just have no freaking clue how NOT to be a couple (and it took what, fifteen minutes for her to go check on him after their fight because she just doesn't know what the fuck she has to stay for if he's not around? That's a marriage if I've ever seen one).

Also Zuko's line of "That food was for my cranky girlfriend!" makes me laugh every time and it's actually so cute that he wants to spoil his girl even when they're both in a terrible mood.

#12 - First date/kiss (The Lost Adventures Comic)

This moment is just SO. FREAKING. ADORABLE.

The way we see a bit more of Mai's prankester side (girl was friends with Azula and Ty Lee for a reason) and how Zuko can't help but find it endearing, the way they blush and act all unsure of themselves after he touched her shoulder, how Zuko can't even look at her when he admits that he likes seeing her happy and enjoying herself, Mai basically admiting that for a while she did the equivalent of "Little boy pulling at a girl's hair because he likes her and can't deal with it", and then, of course, the kiss. It's all just great.

And I gotta love how this date only happened because Azula set it up because Zuko was acting all angsty and saying he wouldn't go back to the Fire Nation - so she reminds him that something, or rather someone, he REALLY wants wasn't going to be around much longer, and that boy just doesn't hesitate to take the bait.

Also Azula and Ty Lee were HILARIOUS while spying on them, and the irony that Azula is basically playing 3D chess with her brother's love life for her own benefit, only to then accidentally shoot herself in the foot by the events she set in motion is just too good.

I really wish we could have seen this in a flashback during the actual show. It's just not fair that this little gem is hidden away in a comic.

#11 - Mai covering Zuko's eyes (03x05)

Yet another silly, very quick moment that I'm likely the only one obsessing over, but I can't help it, I live for stuff like that. Zuko is on full rage mode for being on the island at all and thus Mai is getting very grumpy and annoyed at him... yet the second they witness the gross sight of Li and Lo in bathing suits, she just covers her boyfriend's eyes to spare him of the horror that is old people who ran out of fucks to give (and that is totally not their own fate when they're Li and Lo's age).

The inherent cuteness of their relationship seeping into every scene, even when they are not on their best moment, is just one of the things I love the most about this ship. If they're not "meant for each other" like some dumbasses insist, then how come they're so married?

Plus it was really funny, and I like it when things are funny. The more it makes me giggle, the higher it goes on the list XD

#10 - First on-screen kiss (03x01)

This moment had me SHOCKED the first time I watched the show. I already thought Mai's crush on Zuko was cute, and I knew the series could make them a couple eventually - but I did not expect them to get together in between seasons. 7-year-old me was like "WAIT, THAT'S ALLOWED?"

Also, I've always loved how that moment started. Zuko is staring dramatically into the horizon, being angsty and walking right into an existential crisis - and Mai just goes "No, we're not doing that." It's just so fucking funny.

And it's also the first exemple of these two being completely unable to keep their hands to themselves. Mai just hugs him, touches his scar, and kisses him, and Zuko, who had trouble even hugging Iroh back, just... lets her. Because he doesn't mind it one bit when she does it.

I just really like how Mai's default way of comforting Zuko is by offering physical affection. It's freaking adorable. Also their "first" kiss happening in a gloomy day, with dark clouds everywhere, yet they're off in their own little world, just happy to be in each other's arms, is "Maiko in a nutshell." Add in some emo music and it becomes the most mid 2000s AMV ever.

#09 - "I'm sorry, Mai" (03x10)

This scene is one that just drives me up the wall with how much I love it. It's such a short little moment, but it's so significant to their relationship. Zuko wants to continue enjoying the life he has at the Fire Nation. He wants all the comfort that comes with being a prince, the approval of his father, the security of knowing he'll always have roof over his head and will one day be Fire Lord - and wants to stay and be with his girlfriend because he LOVES her.

But he can't. Because he knows innocent people will suffer and die if he doesn't stop his father. So he has to leave behind everything he holds dear, including Mai. He can't even say goodbye in person, both because it hurts and because what if something goes wrong and he ends up captured? He can't risk it.

So he leaves her a letter and says aloud an honest apology that he knows she can't hear, because he just HAS to say that he never wanted this.

More importantly though:

That boy heard Azula's mocking comment in "The Avatar And The Fire Lord" and decided "You know what, maybe I should go see the royal painter and bring Mai along so we can have a portrait of us as a couple."

I just love them so much.

#08 - Confrontation at the Boiling Rock (03x15)

This is a BIG one. Mai is obviously pissed at him because of the way he broke up with her, and she cannot understand why the hell ZUKO, someone who has always been so deeply patriotic and a very proud prince is suddenly leaving everything behind to go help out a bunch of traitors.

Zuko stands his ground, and tries to make her understand - and then out of nowhere he just HAS to brag about how awesome she is when a guard offers to protect her. He simply not hesitate to basically say "Oh yeah, she could totally give me a hard time during a fight, ain't that great?" (Also the fact that the show never gave us a moment of them throwing knives together even though Zuko has a knife too is a CRIME).

But, of course, real life has to "ruin" the moment. Zuko sees an oportunity to go help his friends, and escapes the cell, locks the door - and then they just stare into each other's eyes, for what they know might be the last time.

Mai's confusion and rage. Zuko's resolve to do what's right no matter the cost. Just that certainty that, whatever they both decide to do now, it will be final. There's no turning back from this. If their relationship ends that day, it ends FOREVER.

It literally lasts just a few seconds, but it's intense and does such an amazing job of allowing the characters to communicate with each other, and the audience, on what they're feeling.

And it's also the perfect set up for:

#07 - "I love Zuko more than I fear you" (03x15)

Literally NO ONE saw this coming, not even Mai herself, and if you tell me you did I'm gonna call you a liar, because OH MY FUCKING GOD!

Everything went wrong, the good guys are about to get captured, the situation is hopeless... and then in comes Mai, risking it all and taking a huge leap of faith.

She doesn't fully get why Zuko is so sure joining the Avatar will be good for their nation. She doesn't know if that will work out like he hopes. But she trusts him, and allows him to go for it, because she knows HIM, knows all the pain he went through trying to be Ozai's perfect son, and if he wants to throw his "perfect" life away just to be the one actually in charge of it, goddammit, she's on board and will do the same.

She knows there's no way she escapes that place with Zuko, it's too late for that. But she can allow HIM to leave "safely", while she stays behind and faces Azula's wrath - and she doesn't care, because she knows there's NOTHING Azula can do to her that would ever hurt as much as living with the knowledge that she just stood by and watched the downfall of the person she loved the most, that she chose to submit to Azula yet again instead of being her own damn self at long last.

It's the proof of Mai's devotion for Zuko, the moment in which her life became her own again, it's one hell of a plot-twist, and leads to yet ANOTHER epic moment of characters staring at each other with daggers in their eyes (and hands), and it's fucking beautiful!

#06 - Fight and reconciliation by the fire (03x05)

I can't lie, I'm a sucker for characters hitting their breaking point, confronting each other, letting all their rage and pain out - and then one puts everything aside to show some vulnerability and care for the other.

Zuko has not been feeling great about himself, and is taking it out on his girlfriend. Mai is not perfect either, and can't see that even Zuko's more "clueless" actions like giving her a sea-shell that she obviously wouldn't like is just him genuinely trying to be nice to her despite his impulse to act like a jerk, because he CARES.

Zuko is feeling insecure, wants reassurance, but Mai doesn't notice, and so he starts feeling threatened by a guy she full on says might as well not exist in her eyes. It's bad, but it's yet more proof that he CARES.

She goes after him after their fight, they open up a bit, Mai reminds Zuko that his sad life doesn't excuse the way he's been acting and when she stands up for herself against AZULA it just makes Zuko go instant simp mode and try to act all smooth and pull her close with that "I like it when you express yourself" (I can never get over that - boy, I know you're a teenager on vacation with your hot girlfriend that looks so cute when she's mad, you two are not alone yet, keep it in your pants!)

And then it happens. Zuko just loses it, can't deny that he is feeling like he is betraying himself because he no longer knows right from wrong and that is freaking him out because, even when he is firmly on the wrong side, he had ALWAYS been sure of his convictions and what he stands for, but now everything is messy and he doesn't know what he should care for.

Cue Mai deciding to forgive him for his angry outburts, for the unfair accusations, for the general unpleasant atitute, and just give him a bit of the support she now sees he had been needing and wasn't getting. A simple, straight-forward "I care about you", and a kiss - which Zuko eagerly accepts, and he IMMEDIATELY just keeps holding her close, all the fighting forgotten because he still has one source of stability in his life, one person he can rely on to be by his side when he doesn't know what he is doing.

05 - Cuddles and dessert (03x09)

This is the point where it became borderline impossible for me to pick my favorites, and I'll probably regret the order a million times, but I gotta post this already.

I love this scene. I just genuinely adore it with all my heart. Them looking at each other all cute, smiling and unable to keep their hands to themselves, and Zuko just once again showing that he like spoiling his girl by asking a servent to bring something FOR THE LADY. Name literally one other character that has Zuko acting like that - YOU CAN'T! NOT EVEN WHEN HE WENT ON A CUTE DATE WITH SOMEONE ELSE!

The whole vibe is just so domestic and cosy. Literally the only thing that is missing is a cat purring next to them and it'd be my idea of heaven.

#04 - Supportive Mai (03x09)

Nightmares and daydreams really is THE Maiko episode. The fact Zuko goes to Mai's house for comfort and distraction when the meeting he thinks he's been excluded from is happening says a lot about how much she means to him (and for once her parents not being around is a good thing 👀), and then later he opens up to her about what bothered him about being Ozai's perfect son because he trusts her to be there for him. They've truly done some amazing progress after The Beach.

Mai's concern for him is just genuinely touching. Even when she doesn't know exactly what to say or do, she's still trying so hard because she doesn't like seeing Zuko truly down, and that is what made her his safe-space this entire episode.

#03 - "That gloomy girl that sighs a lot?" (03x14)

Look at that boy. LOOK. AT. THAT. BOY.

He is just so smitten and clearly missing her. He LIKES the traits that the fandom insist makes her "unlikeable", that led to characters making fun of her in universe, the coping mechanism she used to protect herself from being hurt by people like her parents - can't get hurt if you don't care.

And Zuko doesn't see it as something she needs to change in herself, something undesirable, something he puts up with. He likes what everyone insists is a flaw of hers, and will so even when being teased about it because he can relate to being moody and angsty and cranky and wouldn't judge her for it because she's the person that consistently likes that about him too.

#02 - "You're so beautiful when you hate the world" (03x02)

This was the moment that made them one of my favorite Avatar ships. These two just not giving a fuck if that they're being embarrassing and cringy and just judging the whole world together and being disgusted by everything except each other. Not only is it a funny, wholesome moment, it is THE most accurate portrayal of a teen romance I've ever seen in my life. Just two dumbasses being in love and saying whatever nonsense they want, and kind of relating to each other for it.

Also them just basically telling Azula to fuck off because they wanna keeping making out was amazing.

01 - Reunited at the end (03x21)

Once again. Look at that boy. Just you LOOK. AT. THAT. BOY.

They're so cute. They're so happy. It's literally what their entire romantic arc in season three had been building up to and I'm forever greateful that the writers didn't rob us, and them, of it just because the fandom can't appreciate a good thing even as it stares them right in the face.

They're both finally on the same page, ready to support each other no matter what, with nothing and no one standing on their way, and allowing themselves to just enjoy their love. It's what they deserve.

If this man is going to do anything, it’s call you a pet name. Every one in the book.

But of course he has a special nickname for you that he comes up with not too soon after meeting you

Maybe it’s something you remind him of, a certain feature you have, a specific talent you possess

Bucky insists on trying to do your makeup one time because “It can’t be that hard” and you end up looking like a Ringling Brothers circus clown

The blush is bright red, the mascara is not limited to only the lashes, the lipstick is over lined to oblivion

He took a picture of you and now it’s taped to the mirror of your vanity along with a bunch of other random photos that have collected over the years

“Now when you do your makeup, you can be reminded of how horribly I did. Whenever you have to wipe something off or redo something think…wow, at least I don’t look like that. You always look beautiful, honey, even when I do your makeup.”

According to him, you don’t need makeup anyway

He loves taking pictures of you. Pin up photoshoots by the beach, candid snapshots of your relaxed resting face while you aren’t looking.

Sometimes the lighting is a little dark, maybe the photo came out a little blurry. But you’re in it, so it’s perfect.

And he’s clingy. He doesn’t like when you’re gone. If it’s been one hour, that’s three years in Bucky world.

Bucky is such a girl dad

You have your first little one and she’s so tiny swaddled in his arms, the sun shining softly through the hospital room windows

One day, you got back from taking the kids to the grocery store

The moment you see Bucky, all of your Egan girls run to hug him

It’s not long before he has two little girls clinging to each of his legs, one with her arms around his neck, another holding his hand with no intent of letting go

You quietly recounted to him later in the day how the grocery store cashier remarked upon glancing at all the pink, “Your poor husband. You refuse to give him a boy, huh?”

Bucky was ready to drive to the grocery store and give that worker a piece of his mind

He has healthy, happy kids. What’s there to be poor about?

(Years later, when you two thought you were officially done having kids, the pregnancy test is positive. It’s a little boy. He’s the baby of the family and so much like his dad.)

Bucky is protective of his family, even before little Egan’s got added to the family, he’s always been protective of you

If someone ever bothers you, makes you uncomfortable or says something bad about you, he has to confront them

You can accidentally trip over your own feet and Bucky will find a way to blame himself

Something fell on the floor and you stumbled over it, Bucky should have seen it and picked it up before you had the chance to even get close enough to fall

Bucky’s a man who lives off of reassurance

He loves praise

But he’s not aware of how much he needs it, how much he thrives off it

A compliment will make this man’s day

Reassure him of how amazing he is

Tell him how good he is and how lucky of a girl you are to have him because you are so so lucky

He values your opinion, so your compliments mean so much more than anybody else’s

but the reality is he does care

He just hates to yell around his wife, let alone yell at her. It makes his skin crawl.

Bucky lets all the feelings build up inside but just his facial expression alone can tell you that he isn’t alright

And it leaves you feeling confused because why doesn’t he trust you and confide in you enough to communicate?

It’s late at night when you two resolve the conflict

His voice is soft and it takes you by surprise

In situations like these, you always wait for when he’s ready to talk

And when he does his voice is always so small and broken

All is forgiven, all is resolved, everything always ends up okay

No small disagreement or petty argument can break you two apart

Don’t tell Bucky that you are ever insecure about something because he will be utterly appalled

OMG SPEAKING OF MARRIAGE honeymoon with Joey or like anyone really what would Fritz honeymoon be like? Like I'd assume they didn't get one cause man's busy

Honey-mooning with Joey would be fairly simple, he'd take you to the inn or motel of one of the slightly larger nearby farming towns, and treat you to all the southern comfort food and hospitality you could want. He'd get you a nice breakfast, and flowers, but in the evening he'd make it very clear that he wants to begin the process of knocking you up. He will back off if you tell him to, but he'll make his intentions known. yn had been here so many times, it hurt less and less each time. she knew once she shared a little bit about her life people would pry more and more. this had been different though.

I think it would come about as kind of piggy-backing off of Lord Desmond Manderly helping to find a betrothal for Aemon. Desmond is a good guy, but he does enjoy having politically influential friends; it sets his family up with good connections for th future & he sees that as doing right by them. Which, he isn't wrong. So having a hand in helping Yorick’s daughter get a match, maybe even one that's more influential than what he can secure for Aemon since Rhea'd be marrying in as opposed to for Aemon someone's daughter marrying out to a second son who's 6th in line for the succession by the time the betrothal is finalized, would really be a good thing for Desmond & House Manderly. "Hey, I'm good enough friends with House Royce that I helped arrange your marriage. Remember that." It'd look doubly good to Desmond because no one wants his oldest daughter fr (no one wants their heir to marry someone who's gonna steamroll past all his decisions & rule for him).

So Lord Desmond somehow helps to secure Rhea getting betrothed to the heir to Winterfell, & now trips to go visit Uncle Aemon include flying to Winterfell for a few days because "if we're already up here the kids might as well have a playdate. Being friends first is good."

Child!Rheagan are complete gremlins. They are 100% getting on all fours & pretending to be wolves & using this as an excuse to scream howl at each other. Cregan is better at the howling, but Rhea is louder. Like, I do truly think they'd have made for good friends as kids. Show!Cregan Stark is a fucking freak (affectionate), I know he is, & Rhea's into that. She wants her friends to be weird, she's weird! They are playing all sorts of weird as hell pretend games & Cregan is allowed to add onto the elaborate fiction of the games Rhea plays back home with her brothers & Griffith & Cousin Abby. "It doesn't matter that my friend Cregan is all the way in The North, the warrior prince who talks to wolves & runs as fast as the wind & is immune to cold damage is canon & you will respect him. And when I wear Cregan down about Prince Brandon having an ice dragon that's going to he part of the stories too, no take backsies!"

I'm fairly certain they'd be getting married way sooner too. Cregan's 13 when he becomes Lord of Winterfell/his dad dies, that's the kind of shit where you gotta shore up your succession. Especially after you have to kick your regent's ass to give you your seat. So instead of being 20 & 21, they'd probably be, like, 17 & 18. If not 16 &17, juat dependingon how working that stuff out goes..

Also, them having known each other for years & growing up as pen pals & knowing they're supposed to marry each other would alter their romantic relationship a little bit, I think. But in a good way! It'd honestly make it easier, because Rhea'd have way fewer hangups & insecurities about stuff like that. "I don't need to worry about a bunch of guys who don't match my freak & who's families only see me as a really prestigious baby factory trying to woo me, because I already have a man & I know we're gonna work together because he's fucking weird." RIP Cregan, you don't get to Dog Whisperer your girl, but she's got fewer issues now.

It'd also probabmy make her dynamics with her cousins more normal (if not at the onset, then at least faster), because you can't project what you think a relationship would be onto someone who's gonna be getting married/is already married. Or, well, you can, but you can't do a whole lot about those issues--like, what are you gonna do, make that her husband's problem? Perhaps, but that's also probably how you get your ass beat. So being betrothed from the start really mitigates a lot of issues & also gets rid of the bad 2000s teen romance plot Rhea never consented to her personal life being 😂

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

oh man WHERE TO FUCKING BEGIN. he!! he's such a smug little shitlord and it's one of my favorite dosto psychological archetypes, a character who feels so different from everyone else & so isolated that they end up feeling better than everyone (e.g. smarter, like smerd's bit about the creation myth) while also worse than everyone (e.g. smerd's deep insecurity about his social standing esp compared to his brothers, idolizing ivan). he's just the Are you tired of being nice? Don't you just want to go ape shitt? meme a little bit. also he's just a weird little control freak. i love my lil bouillon boy.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

FAVORITE is hard omg. i really love that he plays guitar and sings in falsetto........ he's just a little guy!!! and the line. the fucking line. "I exterminate my life by my own will and inclination, in order to blame no one." what a raw fucking line. and such a concise statement of pavel as a character, who spends the entire novel fighting to exercise his free will and establish his agency as a human being in the eyes of everyone around him through any means possible, and then he only finally gets the power he wants so badly by weaponizing the societal perceptions of him he hates so much (at first fyodor pavlovich only gives half a fuck about him when he starts having fits, then later on he gets away with murder by affirming their views of him as epileptic/weak, stupid, cowardly, "just a lackey", etc etc ive ranted abt this before). smerdyakov get behind me. he did nothing wrong

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

i mean. it's gotta be the killing small animals as a child right. like we can agree on that. that's not cool baby pavel. (to be fair though. it's also interesting symbolically as a reflection of his power struggle throughout his lifetime—even as a kid he was looking for creatures with even less power than he so he could feel like he was in control of something for once, which then turned to obsession over food, arguing with his father/master, murder, etc. Wish he didn't have to kill cats about it though !)

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

oooooo hmmmmm. this probably doesn't count as a headcanon but i do want him and katya to talk shit about ivan just once. i just KNOW they'd get his ass. also not to be predictable but i absolutely hc him as gay and not even in the im just making everyone gay bc i am way, in a 100% serious this-is-a-valid-interpretation-of-the-text way. i just think his utter lack of interest in women, alienation from society, insecurity about being Born Wrong, distaste for religion (esp. how illogical it is), etc is so very gaycoded. also that line about fyodor pavlovich offering to set him up with a girl to marry: "'Perhaps you ought to marry some girl, do you want me to find you one?' But this kind of talk would only make Smerdyakov turn pale with annoyance, and he would not reply." Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale - A Fan's Journey (with spoilers!)

Ep 1-2

OH MY GOD THIS IS HILARIOUS. It's givinggg 2011-2013 Kdramas in the best way possible. Very well casted I might say, I've watched Pyo Yejin before and I've always loved her in every role I've watched her in so I already expected she was gonna nail this one too but it's my first time watching Lee Jun-young and omggg I LOVE him hahahahaha. He's so gorgeous, and the role fits him so well. Their chemistry is off the charts and it was going so well for the past 2 episodes that I was actually wondering, 'Wait, if they both like each other now, what about the rest of the episodes?' then BAM insert obligatory Kdrama fiancé. Which is hella cliché but the drama IS all about clichés so really it's just living up to it's expectations.

There's a thin line between cringe in a good way and cringe in a bad way and so far, this drama is in the good-o-meter lololol. We'll see tho in the next few episodes and dammit I'm excited. I do love my melo dramas and action packed thriller dramas but really I'm just a girl, I also crave cute, hilarious, weird sht every so often.

Ep 3-4

Can I address their names?? Hahahahaha. Cos Prince Cha min is hilarious and you kinda get it from the get go (Prince Charming = Prince Cha min) but Cinderella is a bit too Korean-ized that you don't get it until you've watched 3 episodes lololol (Just a theory this might be a stretch but Koreans put -nim as a suffix for jobs, titles, or relationship to show respect, ex. harabeonim (grandpa but probably not your own grandpa because adding -nim means that you're not that close), gisanim ("gisa"/driver is the root word, adding -nim is a polite way of saying it and mostly used when you speak directly to the person). So my theory is Cinderella 》 Cinder-nim 》 Cinder-im 》 Shin Jae rim.

Anyway back to the episodes, I looove that line about the reason why Jae rim wanted to marry rich because giiiirl I probably won't do it but I totally get it lolololol. Her ambition was revealed tho and it does not look good esp among the rich. It must've felt soo humiliating, and I can feel her pride slowly ebbing away. The ending WAS a total cliché but I loooove it, can't wait for more lol.

Also, can I just say Cha min's business is sooooo fun. It's exactly the type of business that we think about in our daydreams and when asked the question, "What would you do if you have a lot of money". Cos I'm totally going to build myself a playground for adults to have fun in, adults need it more than kids anyway.

Really happy for Jae rim and her painting, she's sooo good, I also wished she continued her passion, but I have high hopes for the next few episodes.

Ep 5-6

OH MY GOD THEY KISSED AAAAAAAAA. And I gotta say it was marvelous hahahhahaha—not the regular cutesy cutesy kissing scenes we normally see in cutesy cutesy Kdramas. Really just from the kissing scene alone I gotta give ep 5 a standing ovation lololol.

I totally expected Jae rim's visit in Do hong's studio to go horribly wrong but it's nice to be wrong for once hahahaha. We got to see his "weakness" and don't we just love to discover those? Makes the characters more human. Dan-a and Jae rim's face off tho 👀 Our girl totally held her ground with the line, "I had fun too. He's a very good kisser" YOOOOOOOOOO Imma tell you the way I gasped?? I was so gagged???

And the scene AFTER that, the way she bursted out her frustrations on Cha min and him not knowing what to do or what to say or how to make things right because in his point of view, he never meant to be cruel, everything he did was just self-preservation.

Ep 7-8

Hello??? I was so invested on that kiss and you're telling me it was a dreamscape?? Call the authorities, straight to JAIL. But on a more serious note, I love how her doubts and her fears of not being enough was easily eliminated by Cha min, and her voice over about being comforted by this was sooo heartwarming, the butterflies in my stomach won't stop churning!!

The ending was emotional but I gotta say, probably bcs we didn't get to have that many teary eye scenes so far, the scene with Cha min's mom just felt a bit I dunno, I didn't cry that's for sure. But I guess we weren't meant to cry, we were meant to feel for him and comfort him.

Ep 9-10

/sigh/ I think I just got diabetes. It was so sweeeet. Have I said Jun young is so gorgeous? Cos he's so gorgeous. I gotta tell you about 90% of the reason why I'm watching it is bcs I just gotta see him smile hahahahahahha. Happy ending all around, really cliché so I can see why some people might not like it. But I loooovee clichés, it calms my anxiety and it's sure to be a happy ending, what's not to love?

The thing about this drama tho, is it's very self-aware and doesn't take itself too seriously and I think that's part of the reason why it's so charming (pun intended). 10/10 cutesy ending I got what I came in for and I'm happy about that, satisfied customer here! Hahahahahaha

The three girls giggled over their phones as they waited for class to begin. They always came a little earlier, though the reason had always been unknown. At least until now. Now that he was sitting a few desks away from them, Reki finally understood why they were always huddled up together at a desk, giggling together, eyes shooting up every time someone walked through the door.

“Imagine how cute our babies would be!”

“Imagine if they got his eyes and your hair!” She – Kotone if Reki wasn’t mistaken – pulled on her pigtails as she squealed, sounding a thousand times more ridiculous than those girls in those K-dramas Koyomi insisted he watched with her did. 

“Deep blue eyes just like him.” A sigh from Minako this time. “Our babies will be on the covers of every magazine, because obviously,” she flipped her hair, “I’m gonna be a famous idol.”

“Maybe when you stop letting mommy dress you, you might get a chance at being my backup dancer.” Yuka grinned smugly at the offended-looking Minako. “Oh, and lose the baby face. You gotta look like a real woman to impress him, which is why I’m gonna marry him, and not you.”

The bickering began between the two girls, but it quickly died down with Kotone’s voice piercing through.

“How about we ask Reki who he would prefer out of the three of us?”

The sound of his name echoed through the classroom, causing him to drop his pen. Oh no, they were not going to involve him in their little girly games of fantasy marriages.  He was not going to help them set each other up with some poor guy who probably wanted nothing to do with them – not that they were bad girls or anything.

“Reki.” She was there, leaning over his desk, batting her eyelashes at him. “You’re close with Langa, right?”

Langa. They were talking about Langa. They were talking about which one would have a shot at getting Langa to themselves and Reki felt his cheeks burn. They were trying to get with his best friend and he knew for a fact that Langa had no idea of their plans and that he wouldn’t be interested in either one of them – again, not being they were bad girls or anything.

Reki nodded hesitantly which might have been a mistake, but denying his friendship with Langa would have been too obvious a lie. Everyone knew he and Langa were close; everyone knew they hung out constantly at school and after school. But given the way the girls were squealing, now crowding his desk, Reki wished he wasn’t as close to Langa as he was. Or rather, he wished people ignored it, the same way they had ignored him for years.

“So, what kind of girls does he like? Pretty and poised like Yuka, a future idol? Or cooler and more mysterious, but also pretty like Minako?” At this point, Kotone was in Reki’s face, her deep brown eyes wider than he’d ever seen them. “Well? Who has a shot with Langa?”

“Uh,” Reki rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly as he cast his eyes down onto his notebook. “I don’t know? You’re all pretty awesome, so…” He glanced between the girls. “I think you won’t have problems getting nice boyfriends if you talked to the ones you like.”

“That’s not an answer, Reki!”

“Yeah, you’re just dodging the question.” Yuka rolled her eyes as she turned away from him. “I knew it was a waste of time asking him. Not like he ever knows anything. But clearly, he’s just too scared of offending you girls because we all know that Langa likes me.”

“Sporty.” The three girls snapped their gazes back onto Reki, Reki with his voice that had never been so sharp. “He likes the sporty type. Someone who isn’t afraid of getting dirty outside.”

The three girls looked among themselves. From the look in their eyes, that was not the right answer. Or at least, not the answer Reki was supposed to give them.

A darkness cast over Yuka’s eyes, a darkness that almost made Reki recoil. She had expected him to say something along the lines of “Langa wants a girl who’s just so pretty and whose hair is always perfect” but that wasn’t the truth. Langa liked being outside. Langa liked being reckless. Langa liked not having to wait for anything, out the door whenever he deems the right time.

“I told you,” the girl’s voice was sharp as she grabbed her friends’ arms, tugging them away, “he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

“But Yuka, I think—”

“Shut up, Kotone! You’re just as bad as him!”

The girl recoiled, shrinking down as she let herself be pulled away. Something glistened at the corners of her eyes, a shine that pulled on Reki’s heartstrings. It was like watching a child having her favorite plushie ripped out of her hands. It was watching the most pathetic scene, but for once, Reki wasn’t going to sit back and watch it happen. Not when he knew the feeling so well.

“You’re the bad one, Yuka.” The girl whipped around at the sound of her name, glaring daggers at the boy who was standing up to her. “I know what Langa likes in a person and I even know who he likes, not that it’s any of your business. But it’s not you. No one likes you. You’re mean and bossy and everyone is just scared of you. So if you think you can guilt or intimidate my best friend into dating you, then you’re wrong. Also, bullying your own friends? Really?”

“Who do you think—”

“He’s right, Yuka.” Minako’s voice a sharp knife cutting Yuka off. “You’re always bullying Kotone. And everyone else that disagrees with you or says anything that you don’t like. Not everything will be how you want it, so you might as well let Reki finish if you don’t want to make a fool out of yourself in front of Langa.”

Yuka’s face burnt a bright red as she huffed, crossing her arms over her chest and walking away.

“Not even a response.” A sigh from Minako. “I’m gonna go catch up with her before she throws a tantrum. You coming, Koto?”

Pigtails whirl in the air as the girl shook her head. “I’ll catch up with you in a few minutes.” A nod from Minako before she disappeared after Yuka, leaving Kotone with Reki. “I’m sorry about Yuka. She’s… something.”

“Don’t worry about it. Used to it anyway.”

A stifled laugh escaped from the girl as she pulled a chair to Reki’s desk, now sitting across from him. “We should form a club.” More laughter, bitter sounding, but it quickly died down as her eyes met Reki’s. “Sorry, not funny. I just… Can I know who Langa likes? I promise to not tell anyone. Pinkie promise!”

The girl held up her pinkie which Reki gladly linked his with. He had always liked her, after all. “But this is our secret.”

There was a pause, one which let their hands fall apart. It gave Reki just enough time to think about what he was going to say.

“Well, he likes someone sporty. Someone who will go out skating with him. And someone who will laugh with him and who will let him just be himself. He doesn’t want a princess or someone that’s just…”

“High maintenance like Yuka?”

Reki muffled his snort as he nodded. “Langa likes the opposite of Yuka.”

“What she like? What does she look like?”

“She… Well…” Reki hummed a little, contemplating if he should reveal such information. But given the way Kotone was looking at him, he couldn’t resist spilling just a little. “Red hair and freckles, but you really, absolutely cannot tell anyone.”

The girl nodded as she looked around the empty classroom. “Red hair and freckles. Red hair and freckles. I don’t know a girl who fits—” Her eyes widened as they fell on Reki’s face. “Red hair and freckles! Red hair and freckles! Langa likes—!”

Reki quickly shushed her, eyes widened with panic. “Our secret! You can’t tell anyone!”

“You’re—”

“Sh!”

The girl grinned at him as she held a finger to her lips. “Your secret is safe with me! But you’re just! You’re so lucky! Langa! Of all people! And—” She snapped her mouth shut, thinking for a brief moment before whispering once again. “Are you two dating? Are your parents okay with it? How is it—”

“Yes, and everything is fine. Just. I don’t want anyone else to know, okay?”

“I promise to tell no one. Not even Minako. I pinkie promised, after all!”

And with that, people started filing into the classroom, voices filling the air. Langa wasn’t far behind, his blue eyes smiling at Reki. And as he took his place next to Reki, Kotone jumped up, grinning at the two before skipping off to the desk, but not without shooting Reki a wink which pulled a laugh out of the boy. Who knew if his secret was truly safe with the girl, but it was still nice telling someone who wasn’t his closest friends.

While Lucifer dreams of dozens of different terrible things, Mammon's nightmares all concentrate in one place

And that's you and his brothers

Yeah he feels guilty about Lilith, he misses the little shit every day

And yeah, he also is scared of Michael and father but...

The thing that really digs at him is the idea of his brothers and you actually just...hating him

Like yeah they all say it

But only half of him believes it's true!

He and his brothers used to be so close...

He and Lucifer were practically inseparable, he and Levi were best gaming buds, he was always there to help Asmo, he practically helped raise Satan and the triplets...

And then there's you and oh my stars does he just adore you

From your personality to your looks to that starry gaze you hold just for him he just cannot get enough

Usually, he sleeps fine, you are always there to reassure him and he typically dreams of his marriage with you, Goldie, and his baby coins with little faces which by technicality could totally be nightmares

(note, mammon needs to stop thinking of money as people in his dreams, it's really starting to freak him out-)

But on the nights you aren't there well...

The two of you sleeping in the same bed happened long before you two were actually together

You were awoken on countless nights by the creek of the door and nervous footsteps before he found his way under the covers

You would ask him what was wrong and he would remain silent, tracing the lines of your hands with his fingers

After a while, he would ask if you thought he was stupid, worthless, or any number of other absolutely heartbreaking things that clearly came from a bad dream...

Eventually, he just couldn't seem to get a wink of sleep without you. Like he would be absolutely vibing with his hot girl racecar bed (its secret, its in his closet, shhh don't tell anyone)

And then he would fall asleep and have the most mind shattering nightmare
