Round One Match-ups

For Round One we have 128 characters competing in 64 brackets to go through to the next round. Because of this, I'm going to try to rush out as many of these brackets as I can today and will update this post with any that are still to be posted later. Also, I'm going to hold off making the grid graphic until Round Three, because 32 characters are much more managable to put onto a visual than 128 or 64. New actual designs for the Witchcart crew are about to drop soon-ish. Seems like a good time for some draws based around my old take on Wendy, Bearenger, Focke-wulf and Carrotia's looks since I'll probably defer to whatever the comic versions end up looking like (btw is that issue classic or modern? still not sure). That, or Batman: Three Witchcarts (But that'd be silly, two's more than enough.)

Witchcarter’s Mobian henchmen (and henchwoman) are here, named after the witch’s name as she goes by “Wendy“ here instead. Despite their personalities being accurate, they’re quite different to how chibi they looked in their debut on the Game Gear, but I like to see them here as part of their “Modern Sonic” redesign. They’re even riding on Extreme Gear!

Amy: So, let's start by talking about the emotions you guys are feeling right now.

Falke: Stabbing.

Amy: Stabbing isn't really an emotion, it's more of an activity...that I hope you don't do to me. See, an emotion is more of a feeling.

Falke: (Angry): Vell, maybe I feel stabby.

Amy: ...So, art. Why don't we come up with an idea for a project we can all do together?

Falke: A knife.

Amy: No!

All is set up for the final confrontation, at least the non-Sonic Unleashed related conflicts. Looks like it's gonna end with most of the villainous teams we’ve seen throughout the reboot teaming up at some point, all to deter the heroes in their moment of glory.

I’m pretty excited for the finale, if a little bit exhausted. It took us about three years of issues, delays and an intrusive crossover to reach the closing parts of the reboot’s only long-running arc!

The Witchcarters become normal for a few pages and I’m willing to bet that their un-brainwashed states are not only their true selves but also the total opposite of their personas. Falke Wulf is a bit more level-headed, Carrotia is way more serious and grounded and less of an airhead, and Bearenger‘s still got that tough guy shtick but he’s sane enough to monologue.

It's hard not to feel at least a little sympathy for these goons, who clearly don’t enjoy being mind-controlled for such long periods of time.
