alright, prefacing this that i am a) disabled but not a wheelchair user b) an american who was visiting amsterdam and does not live there so this is an honest question:

bro where are the wheelchair accessible bathrooms??? i did not find a single restroom that was wheelchair accessible. I found an interview with a wheelchair user who runs the blog Able Amsterdam and it is bleak out there. how and why?? does the netherlands have accessibility laws?

#amsterdam #disabled #currently #also disclaimer the ADA is fucked in a variety of ways so it’s not like america is perfect in this regard lol!#like the usual set up is that the restroom is as small as an airplane lav or there's a tiny enclosed toilet room and then--#a separate room with a sink #but iirc the 'ADA definition of accessible restroom' means there's room for a wheelchair to turn around in it.#which was not the case here #okay also i had a layover in frankfurt and getting on the plane was a HUGE accessibility nightmare #we went down 4 flights of stairs. got a bus (jam packed as you may imagine!). drove across tarmac to plane. had to go up stairs #all while carrying luggage #the whole time i was like 'okay and how would a disabled person with mobility issues do this...?'#there did not seem to be an alternate method? it was just insane #lufthansa do better challenge
