Here's a Question for the Passione Pod! What do Merfolk think of The Little Mermaid? Both the original story and the Disney movie? Do you guys thinks its a good way to introduce human children to the existence of Merfolk or no? How inaccurate is it? If any of you *do* like it (I'm assuming mostly Narancia), what's your favorite part?

A beat of silence follows your innocent query. It's like the presidents death had just been announced or something, because the look that you get from the pod is chilling... Well, the look that Fugo, Mista, and Abbacchio flash you.

Bruno leans back with a sighed, "Oh dear."

Before you can really ask him anything, Fugo begins growling. You're surprised by the noise, and even more startled when Abbacchio and Mista respond with aggressive clicks and whistles. As far as you can remember, none of the pod have slipped into their mother tongue around you, always speaking in your own language.

You hadn't expected angry mer-speak to sound so... You... You can't really explain it. The best you could do was compare the noises to "The Bloop": low, drawn out clicking interspersed with deep rumbling noises that cause the water around their chests to vibrate aggressively and make their gills flare out. There's the occasional high pitched click, and static-like whistling that makes you wince and has your hair stand on end.

The three mers seem lost in their own respective rants, so you turn to Giorno with wide eyes. He flashes you a weak grin, shrugging helplessly. "I can't translate word for word, but I can give you the gist of what they're saying?"

You nod, and Giorno clears his throat. "First, I should preface that only Mista, myself, and Bruno have seen the movie in it's entirety, and well..." Giorno motions to Mista, who seems to be doing an impression of Ursula in mer-speak. "You can see how much offense Mista took about Ursula."

Mista immediately whips around, spinal fin and ear fins completely stiff. "Because it's complete bullshit!!" Giorno moves aside, allowing Mista to settle in for his pissed off rant. "I usually don't take offense to whatever caricatures if us that you guys make, but having a cecealia - dark coloured, overweight one at that - be the villain? That's some straight bullshit!"

Fugo snorts, flaring his poison filled spines as he sneers, "And none of those merfolk had any variety. All of them had the same tail, same figure, and -"

Giorno keeps talking, and Fugo simply goes back to mer-speak, unaffected. "And Abbacchio is miffed with the representation of predatory mers as the bad ones."

You ask about his own feelings about it, and he shrugs. "I don't particularly care. It was made in a time when only young merfolk whose patterns and fins weren't fully developed were the only one that came to the surface." Bruno gently chimes in.

"It was also banned around these parts when Diavolo was the leader. They claimed it was "merfolk propaganda" and a "direct threat to humanity"." The eel's quotation marks make you want to laugh, but the look of despondency that haunts his eyes tells you to keep it in.

Your eyes back over to Giorno who nods grimly, fins pinned back. "It still is banned, and we're hoping that, someday, they'll allow it to be sold here again."
