Title: Halloween at home
Ship: Betty Cooper + Jughead Jones (Bughead)
Tumblr media
_______________
''I never went trick or treating,'' Jughead's voice echoed inside Betty's head. ''Halloween wasn't a thing at the Jones's.''
The confession had tugged at her little girl heart. Trick or treating on Halloween night was an important childhood tradition.
Starting to think months in advance about what or who you'll be for the big night. Buying - or making - said costume. Getting dressed up on Halloween night and meeting with your friends to collect candies. Happily waving at a stranger's companion costume as you cross path on the sidewalk or narrowing your eyes at the other Cinderella who totally copied your costume. Spilling the whole content of your bag alongside your friends and see who got more candies, or even trading the candies you don't like.
Jughead could have very well come along she and Archie since Betty's parents always stayed behind to give candies. Fred wouldn't have minded to have one more kid to take with. Knowing him, he would've probably lost the candy contest from eating a good half on the run.
Betty chuckled, thinking about it. Classic Jughead.
''What are you doing for Halloween, this year?'' Archie asked as they sat in a booth at Pop's, just like the old days.
It was rare that it was just the two of them around a milkshake. Since Veronica had arrived in town, she and Archie kind of stopped coming here every Sundays, replacing their tradition with double dates with their respective significant other. Tonight though, they decided to go back to their roots as Jughead was patrolling with his dad and Veronica was busy serving clients, being out staffed this Sunday evening.
Betty raised her shoulders, taking a sip of her vanilla milkshake. ''I don't know,'' she responded honestly. ''I kind of want to do something for Jug, but you know how difficult it is to plan something for him.''
Halloween was coming up this Thursday and Betty felt that Jughead deserved to experience Halloween at least once before becoming an adult.
Since couldn't go back in time to change the past, Betty decided to change the future and organize a special Halloween night to make up for what Jughead missed. Taking him trick of treating was tempting, but given their age and height, she doubted anyone would give them candies. She also knew he didn't like big receptions - as noted when she threw him a birthday party - so, it was going to be just the two of them.
The redhead nodded in agreement. ''You're not going to Cheryl's party?''
Betty scrunched her nose, shaking head head. ''I don't think so. It's not like Cheryl will miss my presence,'' she joked, making Archie laugh.
''Why don't you take him to the movies? I know it's his birthday tradition, but I'm sure he'd like that. There must be a horror double feature at the Bijou.''
While Archie's idea wasn't bad, there was always some jerks throwing popcorn at the screen or laughing really loudly at the movie theater. It was so deranging and impolite.
Betty wanted to do something more intimate.
.
''Betty?'' Jughead's voice called as he walked in the once Cooper household, seeing all the lights off.
He tried the switch in the entrance, frowning when it wasn't working. Furrowing his eyebrows, Jughead turned on his phone's flashlight and moved it around, not seeing anyone in the living room nor the kitchen. Weird.
His dad was patrolling for the night, but Jellybean should be home. Unless she was out trick or treating - which would be very] surprising. She's twelve, she's too old for that.
He was about to call out for his girlfriend again when his phone went off, Betty's name flashing.
''Betty? Where are you?'' Jughead asked immediately, curious about the whereabouts of his girlfriend. ''I thought you'd be here...''
The disappointment in Jughead's voice was faint but clear. He had assumed Betty would be here, at...home, having agreed on rebelling against their peers together and skipping on Cheryl's big Halloween party. But, she wasn't.
''I'm in the basement. I think the electricity box has disjuncted. Can you come help me?''
''Eh, yeah,'' he responded, making his way down the hall where the basement stairs were situated. ''I'm warning you though, I don't know shit about electricity.''
A soft chuckle filled the phone's ear speaker. ''Noted.''
They hung up and Jughead carefully descended the stairs, using his phone light to guide him and spare him from tripping. When he was a kid, he used to think that he had the ability to see in the dark...like cats. Now he realized that he couldn't have been more wrong - or, maybe it wasn't so dark.
''Betty?''
A light was turned on in the basement, creating a dim ambiance in the basement, just enough for Jughead to see the small Pinterest-esque cinema corner. Blankets and pillows were perfectly placed for a cosy movie night-in, orange lights and small ghosts suspended on the ceiling of the makeshift canopy.
''What the he-''
''Happy Halloween, Juggie!'' Betty said, coming from her hiding place, a smile on her pink lips. She was wearing some Halloween themed pajamas along with some lighting spooky ears on top of her head.
Looking at her, Jughead was torn between second hand embarrassment for her cheesy outfit or fondness becuase, let's be real, she looked so damn cute in her striped shorts and her skeleton and pumpkins shirt.
''Betty... What's this?'' he asked curiously, cocking an eyebrow.
''Movie night?'' she explained, lips turning into a grin. ''Scary edition,'' she added, picking up an array of DVDs from the table. ''We have all the classics. Scream, Halloween, Friday the 13th, and many more. I also made popcorn and stole some Halloween candies from my mom's trick or treaters basket. Just...don't tell her.''
Although Betty was enthusiastic about the surprise, the lack of expression and reaction on Jughead's part worried the blonde.
''Oh. You...you don't like it?'' Betty concluded, looking down as she bit her bottom lip.
Jughead crossed the basement to get to her, cupping her delicate face between his palms. He caressed her cheek with his thumb, searching for her green eyes. ''What? No! Are you kidding? I'm just...surprised. Good surprised,'' he assured her, offering a smile. ''I mean, what's not to like? There's popcorn, Halloween candies and chocolate, scary movies...my girl in those ugly ass pumpkin ears.''
A chuckle left Betty's lips. ''You don't like my pumpkin ears?'' she asked, snaking her arms behind Jughead's neck, fingers toying with the hair at the nape.
Removing his hands from his girlfriend's face, Jughead shook his head and pulled her in by the waist. ''What movie should we watch first?''
Betty shrugged, sliding off Jughead's iconic beanie, something only her was allowed to do, and replaced it with the pumpkin ears, grinning at the sight. ''Now, you're in the spirit too.''

1x05 Chapter Five: Heart of Darkness
Hello and welcome back! Hope youre all ready to talk Cheryl and fashion cause I am! We’ve got a lot of outfits in this episode so grab some coffee and enjoy.
Tumblr media
We start with this haunting scene where Cheryl looks rather creepy and our first candelabra appearance (do we need a count? lmao). Candles and fire are a definite Cheryl motif obviously relating to red and cheryl’s fierceness and strength.
Tumblr media
Here’s a closer look, her makeup is very dark in this scene, which definitely tells us it is a dream. Her only accessory is her candelabra with this gorgeous red gown, somewhere in between a ball gown and a night gown (something we see Cheryl in often, this weird hybrid dress).
Tumblr media
Here’s another look at the outfit from the costume designer- Rebekka’s instagram (@7sistersnorway), who is amazing! Cheryl is wearing her black fluffy heeled sandals that she’ll wear later in the episode.
Tumblr media
And she wakes up! Into another pajama outfit. This one is mostly all black, an obvious connection to her dreaming about Jason and being in his room. It’s all black minus her giant red heart & cherry? brooch. I don’t love this one, it’s so big! But Cheryl is dramatic and it almost seems a symbol of a broken heart which is relevant. She’s also wearing black crystal stud earrings and a black choker.
Tumblr media
This is the full outfit, it’s gorgeous and sexy and dramatic. Perfect Cheryl. She has on her black floral velvet robe that she wears throughout the show and a black nightgown maybe with lace trims. She also has on those black fluffy heeled sandals again. Those are like literally my dream ‘float around the house in silky robes’ shoes. Love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No pajamas this time! But instead this GORGEOUS short sleeve black tight dress with a burgundy 3D flower collar. So yummy, so Cheryl. I’m obsessed with this dress. She’s paired it with a black belt that appears to have gold lining and a gold buckle. She also has a black crossbody which I believe is the backpack she wore in the pilot turned to the purse form. It’s definitely confirmed to be cold as she is wearing tights and adorable burgundy velvet ankle sock booties, super cute and the perfect shoe for this outfit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are more close ups of the outfit and you can see how well all of the pieces work together. Her other accessories are pink bow earrings and a gold double layered bangle bracelet. The purse looks like it has a purple/burgundy lining on the strap which is really nice and ties in well. This is one of those episodes where Cheryl wears lots of black and dark tones. She is in mourning again as Jason’s funeral is coming up.
Tumblr media
A closer look at her adorable earrings that scream Betty to me but alas, they’re very cute. Also you can see the amazing and gorgeous detail of that collar.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She only briefly wears this outfit but WOW. She looks so amazing! This dark green color is literally perfect on her and coincides with her other dark clothing of the episode. I love that when they put in her other colors it tends to be jewel tones to keep the theming going. It’s fantastic. The dress has lace at the top and a high neck. She has added a black belt and this circle brooch with gold and ruby. Her earrings appear to be black ball shaped ones similar in shape to ones she wore in 1x04.
Tumblr media
I find this scene to be kind of funny. She seems to be wearing a low cut t-shirt dress in a black or dark green color. But, it just feels casual for an intense family dinner at the Blossom household. Nonetheless, it’s super cute and different for Cheryl! I like. She is wearing the same brooch she had on with the emerald green dress so we get a better look at it. Her earrings are black crystal studs.
Tumblr media
I love the sleeves on the dress as you can see her, they’re so interesting. It’s hard to see but she has on a bracelet and her criss cross ring as well. Not much more to say other than she is continuing the dark toned theme.
Tumblr media
And back to pajamas! Similar to the all black one but different and cute. She has on the same kimono but we can see more detail of it here. This time she has paired it with a silky deep red lace trimmed nightgown. So glam. She also has on the same black choker. I hope she doesn’t sleep in this choker cause that sounds uncomfortable af but to each their own.
Tumblr media
She has on the black crystal ear jackets she’s worn before. I love that she has worn almost everything in this outfit before, nice realism! She is still wearing heavy black and dark colors but her red is getting a little bit brighter, maybe because she has someone like Veronica by her side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She has on the fluffy heels again, yay! The perfect end to this perfect outfit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is what Cheryl was originally going to wear to Jason’s funeral, complete with the black fishnet veil/headband she wore in 1x02. I, um, don’t really know what’s going on with that dress but I’m kinda glad she didn’t wear it. Haha. Anyways, she has on black crystal stud earrings, a ring, and this nice black bracelet. And Veronica by her side being a lovely friend. No need to explain symbolism, it’s a funeral after all.
Tumblr media
And yeah! What she actually wore to the funeral. I don’t need to remind you all the significance of this dress and it’s connection to Jason. This moment was iconic and very Cheryl. I feel like her biggest most iconic moments seem to be paired with all white outfits (aka burning down her house, we’ll get back to that later).
Tumblr media
I love the addition of the white fishnet veil/headband that seems to be the same or very similar to the black one.
Tumblr media
Here you can really see the detail of the fabric of the dress, so lovely. I love the innocence she portrays in this dress and the stark contrast from her evil mother in this picture.
Tumblr media
The final outfit. She’s got her armor back on, aka her ribbed leather jacket. She also is wearing her red spider brooch and crystal ear jackets. I’m not 100% sure about her outfit but it possibly a dark red maxi dress, it’s really hard to tell.
Tumblr media
Lastly, she has on her gold open choker that I associate as her armor as well. It’s perfect for this scene as she realizes she needs to protect herself from the rest of her family. She lost her person and is now alone.
Outfit Total: 9! (Including the white again as it is a different occasion).
Brooch Count: 1 large heart/cherry thing. 2 gold/ruby circle. 1 red spider. So 4 in total!
Favorite Outfit: Ahhhh I think it’s a tie between the 3D flower dress and the dark green lace dress.

(Perfect timing)
@tayrae515 asked: Ok I totally get it if you don't want to but could you do a part two to perfect timing? Like I literally just love it so much and need more. ♥️♥️😍like maybe what happens to pop and the gang finding out about you and Archie. Idk it's just so good
Tears filled your eyes as horrified screams escaped your mouth. Time slowed down as you couldn’t move your body, not now.  Two strong arms were wrapped tightly around you holding you up, as the man in black left, and the few costumers, including the boy’s father, rushed to Pop’s aid, calling an abulance while at it. Archie’s turned you in his arms, your head now in his chest, and your glance adverted from the horrific scene in front of you to the table next to you. His hands were going in cyrcular motions in attempts to calm you down and tame your sobs, something impossible for the time being. One of them found it’s way to your soft hair, as Archie started to tangle his delicate fingers through them. “It’s gonna be ok.” He whispered over and over. Sirens were now heard, along with people talking but now everything was just a blur. “Hey look at me,” the strong boy commanded. “Everything will be alright. Ok? I promise. Pop is gonna be just fine, and I’ll be here,” he said, holding your face in his arms. Then the unexpected happened. His lips engaged with yours in a kiss that indicated love rather than passion. “I think I’m falling for you, even if it’s not the right time to say it,” he smiled down at you after the kiss. “No, no. It’s perfect timing.”
The ride to the hospital was quiet. The nurses in the abulance wouldn’t let you go with them and Pop, so you were now stuck inside Archie’s truck; well his father’s truck, while he offered to drive you to the hospital. The funny thing was that they let mr Andrews ride in the abulance to the hospital. An, almost, total stranger rather than the girl that was basically the man’s daughter. Nevertheless, you were happy that a good man was there for Pop, you were glad that people even cared enough to call an abulence, the moment all you could do was cry and scream, losing any sanity you had left. For a while there, back at the restaurant, Archie made sure that you cried, that you took it all out, and man did you do just that.
While riding to the hospital, as mentioned before, there was a silence that fell upon the new-and unofficial, couple, consisting of you and the Andrews boy. His free hand was delicately wrapped around yours, providing you with some kind of comfort that you were in need of. “If you need to cry it’s ok,” Archie mumbled, taking his eyes of the road for a split second. “I don’t judge and you need to let the steam of, you know?” He added, supporting his suggestion. You didn’t disagree but you kept silent, not knowing what to do then and there. You were still trying to process everything that happened in the matter of the last hour, but your mind was just unresponsive. So instead of doing as suggested from the beautiful redhead, you just stared at the road unfolded in front of you while clinging to his hand for dear life.
You were relieved that the man you had grown to call father was finally ok. After countless hours of surgery to remove the small, metallic bullet and making sure every wound-internal or external, was taken care of. Subsequently of being informed of good news, you were finally put to rest. In the time being nothing else mattered but the much wanted sleep. It was going to be uncomfortable, but having Archie as your chair and pillow made a little bit better. You were currently sitting on his lap, your head resting on his shoulder as one of his hands was messing with your, already, messy hair and the other was resting on your lower thigh. The warmth of his body and the fact that he never stopped caressing your hair set you into sleep mode, that you bearly caught the ‘sweet dreams’ that he whispered and the kiss on your temple.
You woke up to the sound of people talking. You weren’t sure how long you were asleep, or who had arrived during that time. Really, it was the gasp of a girl and the immediate half jump, from the boy that still had you in his arms, that woke you up. “Since when you and- Wait how long- Didn’t you- What?” questioned a loud, female voice, you soon recognized was Veronica’s. “V, please. Speak more quietly. She is sleeping and she needs that,” the boy said, once again starting to stroking your hair. “How long are you guys dating?” a boy questioned and Archie hesitated a bit. “We-we are not dating. Not officialy, no. It’s -uhm- complicated,” he begun but Veronica invaded once again. “So, explain it,” she ordered and the boy told them what had been going on for a couple of months now. Everyone seemed dumpfounded and they couldn’t speak. “It’s not that tragic, you guys. Say something. My eyes are closed but you defenitelly seem terrified,” you mumbled, voice still raspy as the sleepy state of yours begun to wear off. They four chuckled a bit and finally one of them spoke up stating how happy they are and that the two of you should be official. Archie just smiled and replied, “Maybe we might.”
For the next couple of weeks, after you were told that Pop had to stay at the hospital for a while, you had to take care of his fast food place but also had to make sure he was ok. If you’re being honest you wouldn’t have done it if everyone wasn’t so willing to help. Veronica agreed to serve the costumers and Archie did the same, while Jughead and Betty were at the kitchen making all the good stuff and working on the cashier. You tried to do everything you could, serving cooking and more, but there were often moments when little panic attacks would make their way to you, setting of an alarm inside of you. In cases like this Archie would take you away from the people, sending looks of pitty at your direction, doing his best to calm you down.
After popular demand; that means after Veronica, Betty, Jughead, Kevin and his boyfriend/great friend of yours, Joaquin told you that they could take care of the shop, by themselves- you ended up in the little appartment you were living in, cuddling up to Archie’s side, as the boy quitely sang some random songs you liked. “Hey, baby girl,” he called, addressing you with a nickname that never failed to make you melt. “Do you -uhm, want to make it official? Do you actually want to be my girlfriend? I never got the chance to ask. Everything happened so fast,” he pointed out and you just chuckled at his reddened cheeks. “I would love to, Red,” you relied, kissing him softly. “I hate that nickname.” “That’s ok. I still love it,” you said, getting comfortable at your original posistion, cuddling with the boy you could now call boyfriend.
