In case you ever doubted USAmerican civilians love explosives at home, here is a non-exhaustive list where it's not terribly uncommon for them to be involved (in some areas more than others)

New Years

Birthdays (of all ages)

Parades (including random ones that are only super local)

Baby showers

Gender reveals

Superbowl

St Patrick's Day

Easter

Prom

Last day of school (any age)

July 4th

Random days in the summer

Christmas

I've likely forgotten some. But these are the ones I can remember off-hand.

#and i don't just mean fireworks although those are certainly the most common #i also am including any poppers that include gunpowder #and snappers (which for those unaware are basically gunpowder wrapped in tissue-thin paper that you throw on the ground to make it pop)#also bear in mind i live in the desert and we have laws against fireworks so like #they usually aren't set off if a lot of people aren't going to (they can't catch us all ideology i think?)#but when i lived in NY? give them half a reason and they'll set fireworks off and shiy #*shit
