"which demon is it now?" lenore responds with a mildly sarcastic tone, hopefully matching emil's as they both did their respective chores around the apartment. granted, the brunette did jump when she heard the sound of something clunking - perhaps something heavy fell off the shelf? pausing in her own task (which, luckily, was just folding blankets and quilts), she shuffles to the room emil was working in to investigate the source of the clunking - "... nevermind, we're safe. it was just a book." lenore is quick to pluck the book off the floor and return it to it's rightful place before continuing - "... for what it's worth, at least nothing in the oven hatched."
