love getting au ideas 10 minutes before a vitally important call. may i just posit. if yall would let me. pokemon au :) aka when a mysterious threat rises in the kalos region, decades after the defeat of team flare, four young heroes (and their mysterious mentor, and assorted Mostly Responsible Adults) have to join forces to fight back. vampires still exist ig? frankly im still trying to piece this together so we're just gonna go step by step here

also if any of you know about the pokemon adventures manga. those are the rules we're playing by here. battles are off-the-wall crazy, characters can be injured, and the viridian forest grants people psychic abilities etc.

richter:

julia was defeated and killed by a dragon-type master with mysterious abilities. richter saw the whole thing and also nearly died

raised in lumiose city until his mom's death and then moved to shalour city when tera took him in

some of the pokémon on his team include alolan ninetales and armarouge. i'm aware neither of these are kalosian i'm still working on full teams

probably gets chosen by a legendary and freaks out about it. he might not believe in destiny but destiny sure is gonna Get Him

maria:

wants to go on a pokemon journey so bad she'd literally bite someone

the record stands at 8 badges in 80 days in kalos. she wants to beat it

and given that kalos has no champion since julia died--the man who defeated her vanished once their battle was over and the e4 have since been running things--she wants to win the position and change the world

incredibly competitive and passionate about pokémon battles

she and tera are from kanto. maria is of the viridian forest. this means she's got some. uh. abilities!

annette:

from unova!

a member of the resistance that fought against team plasma. their battle's been won their but her mentor, a psychic-type master, received a vision of a shadow rising to consume kalos

so here she is. looking for richter belmont

incredible mastery of ground and rock-types. slowly starts branching out once she's in kalos but it's very clear she's a type specialist

incredible battler. she and richter become rivals in this surprisingly quickly, bc for all that richter claims that he does not in fact care about pokemon battling that much he really does enjoy it once you scrape past the "this got my mom killed" trauma and despite annette's insistence that she has a job to do she really really enjoys fighting someone who actually gives her a challenge

they push each other to be better :)

her team includes golurk and lucario. possibly also iron valiant

also chosen by a legendary for sure (reshiram maybe? or zekrom?)

another member of the anti-plasma resistance. came to annette's aid when a team plasma sage was trying to take her golett and they've been friends ever since

former contest star, traveled hoenn and sinnoh and completed both circuits before team plasma started rising in unova

is captured early-on by the mysterious evil lurking in the shadows (still working on what it is idk what erzsebet and drolta are up to here but its def smth)

finds out that powerful trainers have been disappearing from all over kalos and that their energy is being used to power something--something that looks like the ultimate weapon, but...isn't that

the heart of this "battery" is. uh. julia belmont! she lives! she's stuck!

he starts trying to probe for weaknesses on the inside. so many powerful trainers in one place--he knows they can find a way to stand up in the face of evil
