ALSO i think the way they write sera as being trans in general is like. a fun exercise is queerness when you dont have the words to describe it. like ok yeah sera never calls herself trans, but there is no other way to interpret her?

this is specifically how sera talks about her gender, its pretty much always in the context of her history as an anchorite (a group she makes clear were all men)

nobody is going to walk away from this scene thinking sera is anything other than trans, but at no point did they use words sera wouldn't have access to to make that explicitly clear

(also having read this scene makes the 1602 version significantly more obvious because it directly reads as a shortened parallel to seras backstory. sera used to be a monk, sera does all the things that the other women do (in the 616 timeline this makes more of a point than 1602 but. parallels) they use even less words than the original but you still walk away knowing this sera is trans too)

it would have been SO easy to just. not put it in there, not address if this canon trans character is or isn't still trans in this universe, to leave it up to the readers interpretation. they had 4 issues of space they could have left it out for that reason alone but NO they took the time to make sure she was canonically trans here too and i just. i love it
