Aren’t you annoyed by official materials always referring to Bix as Cassian’s “former lover” or “ex girlfriend” all the time? Because I am, she’s so much more than that 😡

so annoyed by it!!!!!! like, how about "mechanic who ran a theft and smuggling ring to fence imperial goods to the rebellion" or "the literal hub of anti-imperial activity on ferrix"? and if you must connect her to cassian, since the show is named after him after all, the fact that they are longtime, childhood friends is WAY more important to the story than the fact that they dated once as teenagers.

(fic anon here) if the other piece of feedback you got about people from outside the fandom finding it was a long two-part comment on the fic from 2-3 weeks ago that was uh also me 😅 I'm starting to realize that the way I engage with fic is kind of weird — I mostly look for short fics with interesting dynamics between characters in fandoms I'm specifically not in, because otherwise I get distracted and annoyed by how much the fic characterization of the characters usually strays from the canon characterization. (after watching the show however, I can say your characterization was dead-on, wow.)

I have been rotating that scene around in my brain for weeks now and keep coming back to your fic even as the brainrot has spread to being obsessed with the entirety of andor because god DAMN this show is good ajasklfajas I'm a little bit incoherent about it all. I just had to tell you the effect your writing has had because I am now in the depths of the most all-encompassing hyperfixation I've ever experienced in my life because of that one brilliant fic

(also would you be down to chat about bix? because it seems like you also love her as a character, and i have some very strong opinions about the way the writers treated her character in the last few episodes — they broke her down very quickly into this damsel-in-distress sort of figure without showing her strength or resistance or even allowing her resolve to be gradually broken down over time. in particular, all those scenes where they do nothing but show her suffering and helpless before cutting away to something else pissed me off a little — in a show where every single scene is so relevant to furthering the story, everything is so tightly woven and crafted, you have to put in these scenes where nothing at all happens just to remind us that bix still exists? you have that little to say about this character?? I was really disappointed that they built up this strong, bold, kind, protective, caring, resilient, badass character only to never address any of that characterization when it really counted. I also have some theories about how dedra's assertion that bix gave up all the info is completely incompatible with certain events we see in later episodes. but I also recognize it's been months since this show came out and most people who were obsessed with it then have since calmed down even though I'm late to the party and just getting started, so I don't want to bother you too much if you're not as interested in discussing it all now)

HI OMG YOUR COMMENTS LITERALLY MADE MY DAY HOLY SHIT I'm so so glad you got into Andor the show itself because it's fucking PHENOMENAL and I'm doubly flattered that you found the characterization to be spot on because I worked REALLY fucking hard on it!!!! And you're genuinely so right about Bix... they created a huge character debt with her and I kept waiting and waiting for them to pay it off and treat Bix with the same kind of complexity and depth they treated her with in the first half of the show but then it just.... never happened?? It was really perplexing to me and it seemed genuinely incongruous with the rest of the show. I am so fascinated by your theories about Bix and I would LOVE to hear them!!! Please please drop me a ping about it if you want to because I would LOVE to talk about Bix because she is my GIRL and I LOVE HER!!!!

I’m the Bixcassian anon and it’s no bait. And I’m not saying she and Jyn would be rivals, I’m simply stating that I think Cassian never stopped loving Bix and thought about her on his last moments, what’s the problem on that? I have nothing against Jyn, I think she’s not very interesting but I don’t hate on her. And I think Cassian loved Bix until his last day because she’s the love of his life

lol that's literally just your opinion anon, I'm happy it makes you feel better to think that cassian "you're not the only one who's lost everything" andor is disappointed and heartbroken and experiencing no second chances at love in his last days and last moments. hope that brings you comfort, but also know it's literally just your headcanon. in that it's not based on actual canon but hey I am part of the rogue one fandom, we have all kinds of delusional headcanons so welcome to the club. for instance cassian opens his eyes in the last second so obviously a ship comes and saves them and he notices it and they live.

in all seriousness if you haven't read the rogue one novelization it may actually give you a new appreciation for all of the characters in rogue one because it does a lot of work to make up for what the reshoots likely did to a lot of these characters. the novel was written like years and years ago so it mentions cassian's old backstory but I'm sincerely recommending it for some good character work. I think there are a lot of people in the andor fandom who didn't spend much time in the rogue one fandom and I highly recommend reading the rogue one novels (catalyst, rebel rising even though it's not my favorite it fleshes out saw and jyn's relationship, ofc the novelization) because they're really helpful to understanding the characters a bit better. especially since cassian is so different in andor.

I'm gonna give you some advice on fandom etiquette: telling someone who ships something that their ship is dumb and not as good as your ship is kind of weird. the reason I think you may be baiting me is like first off there's been a dickhead going around harassing queer wlw who ship rebelcaptain and saying things about how melshi is cassian's true love and jyn blows lol WHICH OKAYY i guess we all have hobbies, and also I've been in fandom for a long ass time. ive seen how trolls behave. I didn't grow up in the atla fandom to not be able to smell ship war baiting a mile away.

I'm not trying to argue about b*xcassian because who cares what i have to say about them since I don't like their dynamic as a ship in the show. lol go find some fellow shippers to talk about how bland jyn is and how much, despite all evidence to the contrary, cassian has no interest in her.

it's one thing to go to someone and say "hey let's talk about x ship we disagree on and what you don't like" but don't be shocked that people might think you're a troll when you come at them with a ship they've explained that they don't like and also saying their otp doesn't actually mean anything lol

luckily this stuff just makes me laugh but no anon, I have no way of knowing you're sincere. you go on anon and you forfeit the right to be shocked when people don't take you at your word on things. that's the trade off for being able to communicate anonymously.
