What makes you think Azula was lying about hurting Suki? She took her clothes and somehow knew Sokka was her boyfriend and already traumatized about losing his first love
I mean, the episode itself basically screamed "AZULA IS LYING! SHE'S A LYING LIAR WHO LIES!" during that scene was a pretty good hint. She was fighting the Gaang to prevent them from going to finding her father before firebending came back, "warned" them about a trap waiting for them where Ozai was (which we know was bullshit), and only then does she suddenly go "By the way I have your girlfriend as my prisoner and she thinks you failed her!" to hurt Sokka - aka the one who was telling Aang and Toph to just ignore everything she said.
We literally see a few episodes later, and sure, she's in prison, but she's clearly not hurt. And more importantly, during their escape, when Suki says this is a rematch she had been waiting for, she is focused on TY LEE and on not letting her hit her once - which could suggest Ty Lee was the one to take down all the Kyoshi Warriors, with Chi blocking, like she did with the Terra Team in Ba Sing Se.
If Azula had done anything beyond just capturing and maybe taunting her over the defeat, don't you think Suki would have wanted to at least punch her in the face or something? Hell, she's more mad at Zuko than at Azula, since he burned her village.
Not to mention, Sokka taunted her in Ember Island Players over losing to Azula, and Suki just looks bothered by the mention of the defeat, not like she's reliving some terrible trauma. The writers could be insentitive at times, but I think even they wouldn't do something like "This character was tortured/raped in prison and her boyfriend makes fun of her for it."
As for Azula knowing Sokka and Suki were a thing, he LITERALLY told Ty Lee about it at the end of season 2, when she's trying to flirt with him. Plus I can totally see Suki going "My boyfriend is friends with the Avatar, and they'll kick your ass and save me" after her defeat.
(Seriously guys, "Dude that is friends with the Avatar and openly supports him is dating the leader of a group of warriors that also supports the Avatar openly" is not exactly top secret information that Azula would need to torture people to find out about).
Also I don't think she show is implying she knows about Yue and how much it affected Sokka. There's a literal war going on for longer than Azula has been alive, Sokka's home was one of the areas the Fire Nation attacked the most, and he has been traveling the world for months, meeting a ton of new people - it's practically mathematically garanteed that he lost someone at some point. Plus "I captured someone you care about and they lost all hope" is the kind of shit that would upset ANYONE, even if they never lost someone before that.
As for the whole "Azula stole her clothes" thing: The Northern Water Tribe stole clothes and armor of Fire Nation soldiers and the Gaang did the same thing in book 3, and Zuko was also made to wear inmate uniform like Suki. "This character had to take this off at some point" does not mean "They were abused while changing clothes."
For fucks sake people, we see Hakoda humiliate the warden and only be sent to his cell, we see guards mocking Sokka for wanting to beat up a prisoner (who just happened to be the traitor prince) as they see that as "new guy trying too hard" aka that's not something that usually happens in the boiling rock, and even the cooler is a punishment for picking up a fight not a place to throw prisoners in randomly. The ONE torture session we see in the boiling rock happens because an escape plan was discovered - and AZULA was the one to stop it, before she even knew what the hell was going on.
("But she visited Suki in the comics and it was implied that Suki was being starved!" Retcons don't fucking matter, we literally see in the show that Suki was fine, just sad to be imprisoned and away from everyone she knew. She was not tortured.)
Azula is no saint, but this "theory" that she tortured or raped Suki is nothing but fans being oddly fixated on the idea of this kids show secretly being Game Of Thrones.

instead of you [part fifteen]
pairing: [best friend’s brother] tom holland x college!reader
summary: you didn’t expect to spend your summer pretending to be your best friend’s girlfriend- then again, you didn’t expect to fall for your best friend’s brother, either.
warnings: swearing, alcohol consumption
word count: 1.7k
series masterlist
Don’t tell Sam. Sam. SAM.
“Shit.”
You had to fix this in a matter of seconds. Should you slap him? Act like nothing happened? Pretend you were drunker than you actually were and play dumb?
“Wait, you’re not Sam?” you squinted your eyes like you were trying to see who was in front of you, acting like you were too drunk to remember who you were with. “Oh my god.”
“Y/n, I’m so sorry,” Tom tried.
“I-” you didn’t know how to respond. “Why did you do that?”
He ran a hand through his hair and shook his head. “I don’t know, it didn’t mean anything!” You’d be lying if you told yourself that didn’t sting a little. If he didn’t have any sort of feelings for you, why would he kiss you? “I wasn’t thinking.”
“No, you weren’t.”
“I’m sorry,” he repeated. “Please don’t tell my brother.”
“You want me to lie to my boyfriend?”
“I mean, is it lying if you just don’t mention it?”
“It’s a lie of omission- are you really going to debate me about philosophy right now?”
“Then yes, I do want you to lie to your boyfriend because if he finds out he’ll never speak to me again.”
“You realize what kind of position that puts me in?”
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Yes.”
You couldn’t even think straight. Feelings of confusion, panic, anger, and regret fought for control of your conscience. “What if someone had seen us? Taken a picture of us? You’re a public fucking figure, Tom. That could’ve put your career at risk.” “Don’t you think I know that?” he growled. “I don’t need you to lecture me on how stupid it was.”
“You’re an asshole,” you scoffed.
“I know.”
You stood from the table to leave, hoping he wouldn’t follow you, but he called after you, your name echoing in your ears like a warning. Reluctantly, you turned back to face him with a bitter taste on your tongue.
“You won’t tell him, right?”
You stared him down for a moment, watching nerves etch themselves onto his features before answering. “You don’t have to worry about it.”
It was a promise you didn’t want to make, but you felt like you had no other choice. You hadn’t just broken the ‘no flirting’ rule, you’d blown straight past it into completely uncharted territory. And technically Tom had been the one to initiate, you hadn’t kissed him back, but you couldn’t say you hadn’t felt something when he did.
You had never lied to Sam before- at least not on this scale. You felt sick to your stomach, and it had nothing to do with the alcohol.
You almost didn’t want to go back to your room. You urged the elevator to go as slow as possible as you checked your appearance in the reflective wall. The tarnished gold was smudged with handprints, but you were still able to make out your ruined lipstick. You weren’t sure it had been messed up sometime during dinner, or if it was Tom’s doing but you couldn’t take a chance. You used your thumb to wipe away the evidence as the intercom on the elevator let out a ding to let you know you’d reached your floor.
With a shaky breath you pushed yourself into the hallway and forced yourself to put one foot in front of the other to walk to your room. You didn’t have a key, so you had to knock. You half-hoped Sam was already asleep, even if it meant you’d have to spend the night in the hallway.
But as luck would have it he was still up and he opened the door seconds later. He was definitely out of it, blinking at you to put you in focus.
“There you are,” he said tiredly, rubbing one of his eyes with his hand. “I was wondering when you’d come up.”
“I hope I didn’t keep you up,” you apologized as you breezed past him into the room.
“Nah, I was just messing around.”
A lie, you knew, but you let it slide knowing you were keeping a much bigger secret. He was already dressed for bed in his boxers and one of your t-shirts and his hair was wet from a shower.
“Are you okay?” he asked, noticing your anxious energy.
You nodded. “I had too much to drink.”
“Ah, me too, I think. Come take a shower. It’ll help.”
You took his advice and tried to sober up in the shower, letting the cold water run over your bare skin until you were shivering. When it didn’t make you feel any better you turned off the faucet completely and dried off, wrapping a towel around your body and sitting on the edge of the tub.
“Y/n?” came Sam’s muffled voice from the other side of the door.
“Yeah?”
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
You sighed. Why did he have to know you better than you knew yourself? You pushed yourself up from the tub and opened the door.
“I had like three more shots after you left,” you mumbled.
The color drained from his face as he took in this additional information and he frowned. “Jesus, I thought I was drunk. Do you feel sick?”
“Not yet.”
“Okay, well let’s go to bed,” he urged. His accent was always thicker when he was drunk, and in a funny way it sounded like home, like all of those Friday nights back on campus.
Sam gave you space to change into your clothes for bed and crawled under the covers to wait for you. You dressed yourself, hung your towel in the bathroom, and shut off the main light before feeling your way through the darkness over to the bed.
You managed to get your drunk ass in bed without tripping which you considered to be a miracle. Sam slung his arm across your stomach as soon as you settled on the mattress and pulled you against his hip. You tensed underneath his touch, but he didn’t seem to notice.
You couldn’t relax no matter how hard you tried, and sleep taunted you for hours, hovering just out of your reach.
Sam’s alarm woke you from restless dreaming some hours later, when the sun had barely brushed the horizon.
You groaned and rolled over onto your stomach, burying your face in your pillow. Your head was pounding and you didn’t even want to think about facing Tom. The simple motion of rolling over had made you nauseous and you knew that standing up was going to be a whole nother ordeal.
“Come on, love,” Sam said, nudging you with his knee. He was already sitting up, rolling the tension out of his neck from a night on the stiff mattress. “We gotta be downstairs in a few minutes.”
Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes and you felt pathetic. You didn’t have the strength to be around Tom today, especially with Sam right there.
“Don’t feel good,” you moaned.
“We’re all hungover,” Sam sighed. “We’re not even doing that much walking today.”
You turned your head enough for him to see the tears running down your cheeks and he pursed his lips, expression turning worried.
“Oh.”
“Can you make something up?” you pleaded.
He nodded. “I’ll tell them you have a fever or something.”
You swallowed your shame and squeezed your eyes shut, whispering thanks into his shirt. Sam kissed your forehead and then got up. You vaguely heard him moving around the room getting ready, but drifted in and out of sleep as he did.
Once he was dressed he softly told you goodbye, that he hoped you felt better, and that he’d bring you back some food later on.
The door clicked shut and you let your guilt continue eating you alive.
You wondered how Tom would react when Sam told his family you weren’t feeling well, if his face would give anything away. He was an actor, he should be able to handle it. But you also wondered what he was feeling, if he felt as guilty as you did- or even more so. Or maybe he wouldn’t even care. You never knew when it came to him.
You rolled onto your back and propped yourself up on a pillow, using the free time to respond to some messages from friends and family. It was the middle of the night back in the States, but at least they’d wake up knowing you weren’t dead. To be fair, everyone knew your communication skills weren’t the best so they probably weren’t expecting anything from you anyway, but you still wanted to put in the effort.
The rest of the day passed by quicker than you would’ve liked. You spent it in bed, tossing and turning as you desperately tried to fall back asleep. You kept pushing the blankets off of you, then burying yourself beneath them again, flipping between hot and cold. Maybe you really did have a fever. Your clothes were suffocating you so you ended up stripping and dropping them on the floor by the bed.
By the mercy of some higher power you were able to nap for a couple of hours scattered throughout the afternoon, but by dinner time you were wide awake again and passed the time by watching Avatar: The Last Airbender in Italian on the hotel tv.
It was playing an earlier episode, the one where the gaang visited Kyoshi Island. You couldn’t understand any of the dialogue, obviously, but you still found comfort in the familiar scenes.
There was a knock on the door suddenly, startling you out of your focus. You jerked your head towards the sound and scrambled from the bed. You slipped back into your t-shirt, but didn’t bother putting on pants before opening the door because you figured it was just Sam. And it was. He looked exhausted, but in the best kind of way and was holding a styrofoam container of food that was presumably for you.
“Forgot the key,” he said sheepishly, offering you the food. You smiled and took it from him, stepping aside to let him in.
He didn’t take your cue, instead he stayed where he was standing in the doorway awkwardly. It was then that you realized he wasn’t alone, that his older brother had been standing behind him the entire time.
Sam offered no explanation, only shrugged like he didn’t know why he was there either.
“Tom?” you asked, awaiting an explanation for yourself.
“Can we talk?”

A Long List of Trash Fire Lord Zuko Headcanons
...that i couldn't get out of my head:
(warning: SUPER LONG POST i havent figured out how to trim posts yet)
he's the one who unchains azula despite iroh's protests. she doesn't even try to fight him, just cries into his shoulder and keeps mumbling about how father's going to be so disappointed in her. he takes her to her rooms and has her drink a sleeping draught, then stations the best guards he has left outside her chambers.
his first council meeting takes place literally a day after sozin's comet. he hobbles into the council chamber shirtless with his entire torso covered in bandages and every council member just looks at him like '...what'
he does NOT sleep for like,,a week after sozin's comet and then another two weeks after his coronation. katara, aang and suki try to persuade him to sleep and he doesn't listen. eventually sokka, toph and mai team up to literally drag his ass to bed and tell him he's not allowed to get up until he sleeps (does mai pin him to the bed with her knives? yes. is it kinky or sexual in any way? definitely not.)
he drinks So. Much. Tea. at this point it's practically tasteless to him but he drinks it anyway because he just needs something to do and tea is something familiar. he keeps iroh on his toes because he's constantly asking for new tea blends, uncle, i think i actually tasted the last one,
he flat-out refuses to grow his hair for at least a year after ozai's defeat. the second it starts getting close to his chin he shears it off himself, with his knife, and his stylist has a heart attack every single time
when he's tired he'll occasionally jump up when one of his guards moves. it stops after a bit, but for the first month and a half or so he's really twitchy. when sokka asks, the only explanation he can come up with is that he's not used to having people stand behind him silently and not want to kill him, much less want to protect him (sokka immediately takes him out for a shopping trip and makes a point of walking behind him the entire time, but only on zuko's right side, where he can clearly see it if sokka moves towards him)
when the healer declares azula mentally unstable and in need of an institution, he shuts himself in his office for the rest of the night. no one's allowed in, not even iroh. he finally emerges in the morning, eyes red from crying and sleep deprivation, and tells the librarian that he'd like a list of the best mental institutions in the country, please, the best in the world if you can get them
he loves theatre (is this even a headcanon?). unfortunately it practically died out in the fire nation along with the rest of the creative arts, leaving nothing but small troupes like the ember island players. one of zuko's personal goals (meaning things he wants to accomplish that aren't as important as restoring his country) is to bring back theatre; he finally manages to do it after about eight months or so of being fire lord, along with other arts like dancing, music and sculpture
he establishes a national day of mourning, on the first day of autumn every year, to commemorate the genocide of the air nomads. from 100AG onwards, every calendar printed in the fire nation has it marked. at first it was called the day of repentance, but aang persuaded him to have it changed (by arguing that he didn't want guilt to be a literal staple of fire nation culture)
he introduces literally So Many educational reforms, plus a mandatory class that teaches students about the cultures of the other nations (air nomads included) and how some of their traditions overlap
he turns down the offer of having a statue put up of him in the capital. toph ignores him and does it anyway.
he visits azula regularly, makes sure she's (relatively) comfortable and well-fed, and sometimes just sits down outside her door and tells her about everything that's going on right now ('some of the far colonies have developed their own standardised writing, azula, you wouldn't believe it, and i've asked the fire sages to come visit more often—but you never liked them, did you? oh, well; i'll make sure none of them go into your chambers by mistake')
(he doesn't know it, but when he does this azula sits by the door and listens. she wonders what kind of writing the colonists have developed, and whether or not the fire sages have taken on some new recruits.)
he hates being above anyone else. never sits in the throne if he can help it, nor does he sit on the dais in the council room. when he talks to people shorter than him, he finds himself stooping a little bit to talk to them on their level (the exception to this rule is sokka, who he mocks for being shorter all the way up until sokka grows taller than him, the bastard)
the first time he visits the earth kingdom, the earth king's ministers call a toast. he ends up being the only one who has to sit out, because he's too young to drink by earth kingdom law
once his servants figure out he won't kill them for talking to him, they start becoming a lot more bold, telling him off when he doesn't take care of himself. at one point, they force him to let them take care of him so much that he literally just bolts into the gardens and hides there until the staff rope in mai and ty lee
when he needs to escape, he does one of two things: (a) he dresses up as the blue spirit and does some parkour until he calms down, or (b) he goes to work at the jasmine dragon. (b) happens less often bc the jasmine dragon's in ba sing se, but there's been a few memorable incidents when an earth kingdom diplomat walks in and yells, 'LEE?!' when they see the fire lord
the first court artist who draws him also happens to be the one who drew azulon and ozai. he draws zuko without his scar. zuko takes one look at it and tells him, very calmly, that he'd like him to leave, please.
zuko burns the portrait. he doesn't fire the court artist, but he never calls on him again unless he has to. a second court artist is called, and can't help but be a bit confused when the fire lord tells him to be sure to include the scar
he forgets the crown. a lot. sometimes he walks into council meetings in his sleepwear with his hair tied up in a messy ponytail and a bunch of scrolls tucked under his arm. none of his councilmen have the guts (or the heart) to tell him that this is not, in fact, formal council wear
he goes to feed the turtleducks when he's stressed. he thinks he's being subtle. he's not. the entire palace knows, and they consciously give him space when they see him in the turtleduck garden
most of his staff are older than him, so they look at him and see this teeny tiny fire lord who is So Small and who Must Be Protected. the day after zuko's coronation, the head chef holds a meeting where they commence Operation Do-Not-Let-That-Boy-Turn-Out-Like-His-Father (subsection He's-The-Only-Good-Thing-We-Have)
one night he wakes up to find suki sitting in his room, decked out in full kyoshi warrior garb and makeup, and just about screams blue murder. suki tells him there are suspicions of an assassin in the palace, and would you please stop yelling it's very distracting, we won't be able to hear anyone coming over that racket
zuko gets very, very paranoid of random spirits after that. yeah, suki looks like a possibly malevolent spirit when she's wearing her makeup, what about it? (when he tells sokka he's highkey terrified of spirit shenanigans, sokka just looks at him and says, 'man, the stories i could tell...', and THAT'S when zuko remembers sokka spent like six months more than he did travelling with the avatar)
on his first visit to the southern water tribe, he removes his boots and leg guards, rolls up his pants and kneels barefoot in the snow. even though chief hakoda immediately starts trying to pull him up, he's stubborn as hell and stays kneeling for the entirety of his very long, very sincere apology-on-behalf-of-the-fire-nation speech. he nearly loses his toes to frostbite after that, and both sokka and katara never stop giving him shit for it
the first time he grows a 'beard' is completely accidental. he's stressed over some trade miscommunications with chief hakoda, hasn't slept in a few days...and then when sokka arrives as water tribe ambassador to help smooth things over, he takes one look at zuko and says 'man, facial hair does not suit you'
zuko: facial what now
he checks a mirror to find that he's got stubble covering his chin, dark enough that it almost looks intentional, and holy gods how the fuck did he not notice this before
'UNCLE WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME' 'i assumed you were doing it on purpose' 'WHEN HAVE I EVER DONE ANYTHING ON PURPOSE'
he shaves it all off immediately, of course, which prompts a lot of teasing and rib-poking from sokka until zuko finally snaps that he's scared it'll make him look like his father. sokka stops after that.
(the day after sokka leaves, zuko finds that a mysterious someone has scribbled all over ozai's royal portrait, giving him a frankly ridiculous beard and moustache that literally CANNOT be grown in real life. oddly enough, he can't bring himself to care about the defamation of royal property. he's too busy laughing.)
his paths cross with toph and sokka more than any of the others, because sokka is ambassador and toph is technically still a beifong. most of the time, at formal functions, he ends up sequestered in the corner with toph and a hoard of snacks, and they talk and swear much more than they usually do (zuko's ministers once heard him when he was drunk with toph, and the servants swear the older ministers' ears started bleeding)
he restores fire nation cultural festivals, and in doing so subjects himself to learning a lot of complicated dances
during one memorable week, he wrote so many letters and drafted so much legislation that he ran out of paper. he had to go visit the nearest school and ask for some
he keeps up with his firebending and sword training even though it's hard to fit into his schedule. his ministers refrain from reminding him that he has guards to protect him now; it's still hard for zuko to trust his safety with anyone but himself (team avatar is the exception).
he started sleepwalking about two months into his reign. no one knew why. one time, he nearly sleepwalked right off the edge of a balcony, and one of his guards had to grab him by the back of his robes.
the sleepwalking stopped after around a month and never happened again. at this point it's practically palace legend.
after freeing the war prisoners, he went around collecting every single earthbender-proof wooden cell he could find in the capital and surrounding areas. when he'd gotten most of them, he gathered them into a huge pile in the city square and set fire to them with his own hands.
unfortunately he couldn't do that with the waterbender metal cells but he did get toph to come in and bend them all into pretty shapes (well, toph thought they were pretty shapes. everyone else thinks they're meaningless squiggles)
he learned how to write with both hands at the same time out of sheer necessity (he refused scribes until it became clear that he'd be putting some people out of a job; that was when he started letting scribes write very, very minor things, but all important documents/drafts/letters are still written by him)
he once put the wet end of an ink brush in his mouth instead of the wooden end by mistake. didn't even realise until he bit down to keep it in place and ink went oozing everywhere
when his guards rushed in to find him coughing and spluttering black liquid all over his desk they thought he'd been poisoned but no he's just stupid
on his 17th birthday, his first one after being crowned, he got tackled by team avatar in the middle of the ballroom and ended up at the bottom of a cuddlepile for like ten minutes
this cuddlepile happened at an event that was very much public and very much formal. it was a scandal for weeks
just. fire lord zuko, guys. so much potential

Avatar Ty Lee AU: The Ba Sing Se arc. I really want to hear heroic Azula use her greatest line: Don't flatter yourself. You were never even a player.
Oh boy oh boy.
So like. This. This takes up like half of Book 2 and also just.....
I debated on this for a while. But since in Canon, Azula was Book 2's main antagonist and still a threat in Book 3, but she's a Hero in the AU, I had to figure out how to replace what she does. I debated about generic things of random Fire Nation people and not focusing on any one person...
But in the end it works better if I create an OC to replace Azula as the antagonist.
And said OC got..... she got away from me.
I called her Noriko which is very ironic given that the comics exist and she really is this AU's Harley Quinn and yes that implies things that I am intending to imply.
Noriko: "Capturing the Avatars and my Fiance's traitorous family? What a perfect wedding gift, don't you think? Only thing better would be kicking off the honeymoon with your execution!"
Zuko and Azula: "Hold on you're gonna have to give me a hot minute to process all that what the FUCK?!?!"
Noriko first shows up in 'The Chase', comes back for 'The Drill' and then of course ends up pulling the whole coup situation but that goes slightly different.
I'll come back to that though.
So when everyone first gets to Ba Sing Sae, the Fire Nation kids pick up quick on 'Oh this is some propaganda shit!'. Which means they know to play by the rules and leave the Dai Li alone until they have more to go on.
Iroh still somehow ends up opening the tea shop because I can't have him not do that!
And then there's Jet. Boy....
Ofc they ran into him last book and that was a trainwreck. So he's just jumping right to where he's attacking them and accusing them of shit.
And Toph goes 'who the hell....????' because she is the only one who never met him. And the rest of the Gaang just pulls a gaslight gatekeep girlboss and pretends 'what? we don't know you? Why are you yelling at us?'.
He gets arrested and they /kinda/ feel bad but.... can't really do much.
While our other new characters get their own stories in 'The Tales of Ba Sing Sae', the only one I'll talk about right now is this version of Zuko's because yes he does still go on that date with Jin! And so does Sokka. Because polyship. And they're like 'Hey there's also another girl Suki but she's off doing her own shit right now we'll talk about that later!'. So yeah Zuko/Sokka/Suki/Jin is the endgame ship here.
Speaking of Suki, since Noriko is a grown ass woman and can't disguise herself as the Kyoshi Warriors, Suki does not get captured!
Also while the Gaang gives Jin half-truths about who they are, she figures out some stuff. Like that half of them are Fire Nation. But she assumes they're just defecting from the country not. Ya know. Kinda important.
Anyway! Back to Jet!
THey're all sus as hell when he shows up acting nice and just skip to figuring out the brainwashing. So they figure out the whole Lake Logai thing. They go down and they get Appa back my baby!!!
I am actually letting Jet live in this AU! But this whole situation is a slap to his black-and-white mentality. The Firebenders are the ones who saved him after Earthbenders kidnapped, brainwashed, and tried to kill him. He doesn't join the main Gaang because there's a lot of history there and he needs to sort some shit out. But he does gather his old group again and agree that, no matter what, the War needs to end and the Fire Lord needs to be stopped.
Now! Telling the Earth King about all this shit goes down similar to Canon! But the Gaang all splitting up for a bit happens differently.
Both Sokka and Katara go off to see their dad. Ty Lee and Aang got that info about the Guru and the Avatar State so they go look into that. Mai offers to go with Toph because she knows that no matter how much you say you're fine, confronting your 'shitty yet caring' parents is hard.
Iroh, Zuko and Azula stay in Ba Sing Sae and deal with the Earth King.
Suki actually does show up as she wasn't captured earlier, which means Zuko can introduce her to Jin and they hit it off well!
Of course everything goes to shit. Because Noriko's way into the city was through disguising herself and a handful of her soldiers as refugees being let in. She had laid low for a while, but heard about the drama with the Dai Li and strikes a deal.
While most of the Gaang are elsewhere, she and her group attack the city, with the Dai Li helping her. Zuko, Suki, and Jin do get captured at this point and sent to the Crystal Catacombs and Zuko just has to explain the stuff he left out when talking with Jin before.
Zuko: "So...... you probably noticed I was Firebending during that fight…"
Jin: "I already knew that part. I'm not an idiot. You can't light a bunch of lanterns that quickly without Firebending. But why did the crazy lady ask you where the Avatars are??"
Zuko: "Uh… That'd be Ty Lee and Aang."
Jin: "Okay. Okay you probably should've mentioned that. But I can handle it! Is there anything else I should know?"
Zuko: "..... My father is the Fire Lord? We're going to kick his ass but I think that's relevant."
Jin: "I'm… I'm just going to lay down and contemplate my life. Goodnight!"
Now! Back to Noriko's take over! We have that 'you weren't even a player' scene where the Dai Li is torn between following her or Long Feng. But while Azula is here for intimidating powermoves, Noriko has no issue killing the competition. She might still do the powermove though because that's also fun for her but she does totally kill the fucker.
A lot of the actual fight goes the same. Though no Avatar State is used. Ty Lee does get zapped with lightning thanks to Noriko though, and Iroh lets himself get captured to buy a few minutes for everyone to escape.
On the bright side, Ty Lee is doing a bit better than Canon!Aang had with the lightning thanks to not having been in the Avatar State. And they also have Suki and Jin still with them!

He laughed at your reaction and you cracked a small smile as well. Zuko gestured towards your car with his head and then held up his phone. “Having car troubles?”
“Yeah. It’s a piece of shit so I’m not really surprised. It’s more of a shock that I managed to get all the way here without anything going wrong, but I guess it had to happen sometime. And of course it would happen right before I have to get going!” You hit your hand against the side of your car again, hoping that maybe it would somehow jumpstart it, before shaking your head with a sigh.
Zuko tried to stifle another laugh but it got out, and you shot him a glare. “Do you think my pain is funny?”
“No! No, of course not. It’s just you’re ignoring the solution standing right in front of you.”
It took a few seconds for it to click, but then you immediately started rambling. “Oh! Oh no, I don’t want to impose. I don’t wanna be a burden or make you waste gas money or be annoying or-”
He raised his hands up and you immediately stopped. Zuko couldn’t keep the smile off of his face — not that you minded, it was cute — as he interrupted.
“Y/N, you’re not a burden if I’m offering to give you a ride. I have class soon too so I need to get over anyways.” You opened your mouth once again to protest, but once again he stopped you. “Just please let me do this, okay? I wanted to get to know you better anyways.”
You sighed and finally conceded, giving your car one final kick in the hopes that it would magically come back to life. “If you’re sure, then we need to get going.” You checked your phone and nearly had a heart attack. “I hope your car can go fast, because we REALLY need to get going!”
A few minutes later you were settled in the passenger seat of Zuko’s car, trying to marvel as inconspicuously as you could at how nice it was. He wasn’t very show-offy with his money from what you could tell, but he certainly had some really nice things.
“So, you said you wanted to know more about me? Shoot, I’m an open book.”
“Well, for starters.. I guess I wanna know about Kyoshi. How was it?”
You laughed and settled into your seat. “Kyoshi was amazing. It was a smaller college so I knew almost everyone and everyone knew me; it’s also where I met Suki. We ended up in the same dorm, and she’s probably the best person I’ve ever roomed with. Uh, no offense.” You glanced at Zuko and he chuckled, nodding with his head for you to go on.
“I took some really fun classes, interned for a couple places, and went to some killer parties. Let me just say that I’m probably the sappiest drunk you’ll ever see.”
“Really? I wouldn’t peg you as the type to go that way,” Zuko remarked as he went through a turn.
“Oh? And what is that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing! You just seem a bit closed off, at least in comparison to your siblings.”
“Yeah, I get that a lot..” Your sentence trailed off as your phone buzzed and you got yet another text message from a number you couldn’t bring yourself to block for some reason. You frowned as you unlocked your phone and stared at the message for a few seconds.
“Y/N? You okay?” You didn’t realize it but Zuko had pulled into a spot so his full attention was now on you.
You were already unbuckling your seatbelt and getting your bag and gave him a weak smile at his question. “Yeah! I’m fine, just— Kyoshi was great, but.. it has some bad memories I’m trying to get away from. This-” you held your phone up before shoving it back into your pocket. “-is one of them.”
You opened the door and hopped out, already starting to back away from the car. “Thank you so much for the ride Zuko, I’ll pay you back as soon as I can. I’ll see you later, okay?” You gave him a half-hearted wave then ran off in the direction of your lecture hall, silently cursing yourself for how you acted.
Zuko slowly waved back then settled against his seat, wondering if he had somehow done something wrong. He thought the conversation had been nice — he had a good time talking with her — but maybe his social skills hadn’t improved as much as he imagined. He took out his phone and shot a few texts off, then locked his car and set off for his own class.

Let's talk about Mr. Sokka and his iconic character development.
First impressions:-
Okay, he's a tad bit sexist. Oh,is he supposed to be comic relief?. Seems arrogant. But so far he's okay, doesn't tick me off too much.
So he's insecure about not being able to bend, I feel bad now but not too much.
No more first impressions
Let's talk about Sokka after he met Suki. He drinks respect woman juice now, that's sweet. But that's not it. What we also see in this episode is how he doesn't give up,he won't give up for his life. He wants to learn how to be better even if it costs him his male ego(which thank god he sacrificed to learn from Suki).
As the story goes on,we see how he is a big realist,no bull shit sweet talk with him. If this is how it needs to be then that's how it'll be.
Until............
He meets Yue.
He loses all reason or most of it,a realist is brought down to his knees by love. Ironic. He doesn't care if she's engaged or if it isn't "right". He loves her.
She's sweet and appreciative of him. One look at her and he was done for. And then came the moment where she had to go.
And he couldn't save her or stop her from doing the right thing for her people. He would've done the same thing.
As the story progresses and we get to know more of his background from mostly Katara. We come to know how he lost his mom way too early in life and that his dad left for war and no matter how hard he tried to help him,he couldn't. And because of Yue's death his belief in optimism and dreams only went down the drain. He had to be hard on himself and learn the right values, gain more knowledge and become wiser.
Cue season 3 Sokka
I'm a proud mamma hen lol, here he is. Has learnt sword fighting, uses his boomerang pretty well and also has learnt the kyoshi fighting techniques. But most importantly,he has accepted his weaknesses, insecurities and flaws.
He's no longer the insecure boy who hid behind the mask of false confidence. He understands,he ammends and he apologizes. He has become the dependable leader that Aang,Toph and Katara always needed and looked up to.
And once he has realised all this,he is most loved and adored. He's looked up to for support even by Toph fucking Beifong and that says enough.
Sokka has great character development, that was all I wanted to convey in this rant. Sorry, it's too long but not sorry,my boy deserves it. ;)))
Also, sokka week is coming, please follow the blog!!!. Let's make it a great one!!!.💖💖💖

Maybe 11 and 73 w Sokka please🥺
prompt 11: “i almost lost you” kiss prompt 73: height difference kisses where one person has to bend down and the other is on their tippy toes ___
Well, this isn’t how I thought I was going to die today.
Although the actions you took that led you to this consequence were... instinctual and probably idiotic- oh, and life threatening- it was for the best, you decided.
Because had you not leapt at Toph and yanked her behind you with all your might, she probably would have fallen to her death. The metal beneath her was giving out, and there was no time to do anything else.
You saw a friend in trouble, and you did what you had to in order to save them. In your book, that was the right thing, the good thing.
But it only took an instant for your course of life to change.
You lunged for Toph, gripping her wrist so tight that she would have a bruise in the shape of your hand there later, and all but threw her behind you. Hard enough and fast enough that she flew back and rolled against the ground, her head hitting the metal railings of the walkway pretty roughly.
There was only a second for you to process that she’d gotten hurt, but the more pressing issue was you hadn’t calculated what to do once you’d gotten Toph away from the danger, which you were now smack in the middle in.
But there was no time for you to race back to safety, because you were already stumbling, and you couldn’t even scream as you felt your foot give out beneath you, sending you backwards through the opening of the ship.
Just as you desperately tried to claw at the rledge, a hand grabbed onto yours, and your body was dangling in the air, with only Sokka’s grip keeping you from falling to your death.
“Hang on!” He shouted to you, grunting as he struggled to hold your weight with just one hand.
You looked up at him wildly, in shock that he’d caught you in time, in fear that if you were to fall now, he’d blame himself forever.
“Okay” You said, voice cracking from the burning in your throat.
You reached your other hand out to grab onto his, hoping that if you anchored yourself better he’d be able to use his own weight to pull you back up.
But his other hand was gripping onto the ship, keeping himself from going over the edge with you. That left him no room to move to pull you up, and you realized this pretty quickly.
But as Sokka struggled to figure out a plan, you could tell the gears in his head were turning too fast to allow him to see this problem. He was facing a wave of denial, and neither of you had the time to deal with it.
“Sokka-” You called, and by the drop in your voice alone, he knew what you were going to say.
“No,” He replied before you could start, his tone gravely serious, but you could see the tears glossing over his eyes. “No, don’t do that, just- just hold on, I’ll figure something-”
“Sokka,” You said again, your voice cracking, and your hands squeezing his arm. “It’s okay”
“No-”
“I mean it,” You cried out. “It’s okay”
“Don’t- don’t talk like that! Just give me a second- Toph!” He turned to look over his shoulder, shrieking at the unconscious girl. “Toph, help me!”
You tried to blink away your tears, but they had already fallen. They streaked down your cheeks, and plummeted to the ground a thousand feet below.
“Sokka, just let me go, it’s okay, you can’t-”
“Yes, I can!”
“You’ll kill yourself!” You argued, your shriek echoing throughout the chasm below. “You have to do this- you have to let me do this!”
Your crying was making it hard not to slur your words, but you tried your best, because Sokka was growing weak from holding on so long.
“Just... let go”
“I can’t,” Sokka cried, shaking his head, the first tear falling. “I can’t, I can’t, (y/n)-”
“Then let me let go” You murmured, only making Sokka tighten his grip as much as he could. His fingers dug so deep into your skin that you worried he’d snap your wrist before he’d let you go.
“No, no I can’t do it, I’m not losing you!”
Fuck, you love him, you think, as you begin to sob, you love him so much that you’d die for him.
And here you are.
“I know,” You said softly, nodding at him, your body shaking from your crying and the all-consuming fear of death. “I know, Sokka”
For a moment he’s comforted. He feels calm and centered, because you’re so soothing, and the way you look at him makes him feel like there’s all the time in the world, that everything will be fine, and you’ll be okay.
But then he snaps back to reality, and he’s shaking his head at you, unable to form any more words.
Deep down, he knows there’s nothing he can say to convince you not to do what you’re about to do.
He just can’t accept it.
“(y/n), please,” His words are strangled, and he’s got nothing left. “Please”
"I’m sorry, Sokka,”
You take in a deep breath.
“Forgive me”
The world goes to slow motion then, you’re sure of it.
As you launch your legs up so you can kick yourself out of Sokka’s hold, he screams something awful, the sound heartbreaking, and just as your hands break free from his, you wonder if you’ve made a mistake.
But you’re already falling, regrets be damned.
You think the last thing you see will be the pained look on Sokka’s face as he still struggles to try and reach for you.
This isn’t how I thought I was going to die today, you thought, and you close your eyes so you don’t have to look at Sokka like that anymore.
Just as you think you’re about to be embraced by a painful death, you crash.
That definitely wasn’t a thousand foot plummet into rocks, you thought as you groan, and peek your eyes open.
“(y/n)!”
Suki is standing above you, a shocked but excited look on her face.
“Suki-?” You whimper in pain.
“Spirits, did you just jump off that ship?” The Kyoshi Warrior asked, and helped you to your feet, before signaling up to Sokka, who stood thirty feet up on the platform, holding a half-knocked out Toph on his back.
“I- I-” You struggled with your words as you rubbed your head.
“Good thing I came when I did!” Suki said, checking you over to make sure you didn’t have any serious injuries. “You could have died!”
You scoffed at the irony, holding your head in both hands as you tried to still your spinning brain.
“Holy shit, (y/n)!”
Sokka was before you in an instant, only dizzying your vision more. You barely registered him helping Toph over to Suki, before he was waving his hand in front of your face.
“Hey, stay with me, you alright?” He asked softly, one hand steadying your shoulder as the other held a couple fingers in front of your face. “How many fingers am I holding up?”
“Three?”
“Good guess,” He grumbled, knowing you were making up an answer. “Spirits, don’t you ever do something like that again, okay? Ever”
“Sorry” You whine, your eyes screwing shut as you press your hands harder against your skull.
You couldn’t tell if your headache was from your harsh fall, or from the adrenaline washing over you too late.
“Sorry’s not good enough,” Sokka muttered.
He was angry, but he was also incredibly worried about you. So while he grumbled a string of curses and scoldings, his hands were cupping your cheeks and pushing your loose hair out of your face. You only heard a handful of the things he was saying, but you heard enough to get the gist.
“Yeah yeah,” You mumbled, opening your eyes in hope you could see clearly.
To your delight, you were met with his bright blue eyes in your face, and you were convinced that alone straightened your vision.
“No self sacrifices,” The rest of your sarcastic remark comes out in a mumble. “Got it”
Sokka shakes his head at you, and he wants to scold you some more, but he can’t help himself but lean down and kiss you.
You almost died for fuck’s sake. He needs to have said he kissed you at least once.
He’s bending over and you find yourself shooting up to the tips of your toes to meet him in a kiss. It’s quick and a little rough because you don’t have all the time in the world, but it’s everything.
In the four seconds it lasted, you just needed to convey every pent up emotion you’ve felt for each other in the last four months. Maybe even longer. And somehow in such a short span of time, you both managed to do so.
“Seriously,” Sokka whispers, his eyes locking on yours so you knew he meant business. “You ever try to die again, I’ll kill you, got it?”
All you can do is shakily nod back at him, now reeling from the near-death experience and the hot kiss he’d just laid on you.
“I’m not losing you, and you’re stuck with me” He tells you, and you nod again, a smile spreading on your lips this time.
“I can work with that”
“Good,” He nods back, and takes your hand. “Now let’s go make sure this war ends right, so I can take you out”
You’re back in the action all too soon, but for some reason, you find yourself fighting even better than before. Your coordination and swiftness as you take down the rest of the Fire Nation fleet better than they’ve ever been before.
You must really want to live to make it to that date.

Zuko's personality fits the stereotype of a bully. He is an asshole, aggressive, possessive, mean.
Azula is a mean-bitch. uses manipulation and fear to control others.
If Zuko hadn't been influenced by Ursa and Iroh,Zuko would be the same or worse than Azula.
anti-azula can suck a d*ck, your precious Zuko is not a saint. Zuko improved as a person thanks to his uncle and the gaang. Azula had no one to help her to be a better person
(I like Azula because she's a bitch, I like Zuko because he's an asshole, neither of them is a saint)
This ask is a little harder for me to answer. I hope that this doesn’t sound rude but I’m trying not to let my ask box be an outlet for anger. Though I do 100% understand wanting a place to let it all out without having to fear backlash for more unpopular and controversial takes. So I’ll try to answer this in a way that’s fair to everyone.
Basically I agree with the sentiment here; I’m not fond of the double standards that the fandom tends to have for Zuko and Azula. And I do see it coming from both Azula & Zuko fans.
Honestly, despite some of the wording I think that this is pretty close to my own take; Azula and Zuko have both done some shit. They both came from a really hostile and unstable environment and this upbringing led to them both doing bad things.
I’ve mentioned before but Zuko is definitely really loud. Even redeemed he can get very loud and aggressive. Because he also relapses sometimes. And I do agree that he can be dangerously possessive--I have the scene where he throws Roun Jian into a vase just for talking to Mai. Like he literally did the classic ‘my girl can’t talk to other men’ thing. And that’s not healthy behavior. It’s a sign of insecurity.
Zuko has burned Kyoshi Island. He tried to capture and kill Aang. The whole thing with Katara and her necklace was really shady. He’s done some bad shit too and just like a redeemed Azula wouldn’t get a pass for killing Aang or taking over Ba Sing Se, Zuko shouldn’t get a free pass either.
And even redeemed Zuko gets loud and impulsive at times. 90% sure that in The Promise he was wrestling with a side of him that was like Ozai and the the promise that the comic was named for was literally Aang’s promise to take him down if he ever got as bad as Ozai. Because even he acknowledged that that side was there. And I think he’s afraid of it. Which is the sad nature of some abuse cases.
Does it make him an evil or bad person? No. But he’s also not his soft uwu boi either.
And as you said; Azula has definitely done some shit. I’ve talked about this several times but Azula wasn’t a good friend. I feel bad for her because she never had the social skills or tools to know how to be a good friend. I do think that she did genuinely care about TyLee & Mai. But it doesn’t change that she did manipulate and toy with them.
Likewise with Zuko. I do think that she really cared about him and I do think that it hurt her when he left. But also she wasn’t good to him. She used him at times and she manipulated him too.
She literally imitated Ozai. She is pretty much an embodiment of Fire Nation propaganda and how it corrupts people. Azula definitely has done some fucked up shit. I just don’t think that it makes her irredeemable or a complete monster. Imo she’s way too young to get written off as unsalvageable.
I think that the huge difference between he and Azula is that he did have proper guidance and the intervention that Azula didn’t. The scrip could have easily been flipped and that’s why it’s really hard for me to understand how some Zuko fans condemn Azula while excusing Zuko and how some Azula fans condemn Zuko while excusing Azula.
Like you said; Zuko had people to point him in the right direction. Azula had Ozai and strong wartime propaganda and indoctrination. Azula was groomed for war in a way that Zuko wasn’t. And because of that she didn’t get a chance to heal in canon. And that very well could have been Zuko. As the oldest son he could have been the golden child that got groomed while Azula got tossed aside as ‘the useless second born’.
I think that there’s bias on both sides to a degree and that it has just created a double standard. Which is a damn shame imo because that massively takes away from the complexities of both Azula & Zuko and the very deep and realistic portrayal of what an abusive home could look like. As well as how war, propaganda, and travel/learning all comes into play.
Sometimes people seem to reduce it to ‘I like x character better so they can do no wrong and I don’t like y character so they can only do wrong’. And I don’t think it’s that simple.
Azula and Zuko are both fantastically written so it sucks to see both of them get torn apart. It also kinda sucks to see both of them get reduced to ‘soft cinnamon roll uwu’
The very thing that makes both of them so compelling is that they are multi-faceted. That they both have good and evil in them. Basically, they are realistic. They feel authentic, like they could be real people.
I might be starting to ramble lol. But yeah, I think that I agree with this ask on principal even if the wording of it is harsh. xD Like, ya got the spirit anon! I feel like it’s more galaxy brain to like Azula because or despite that she’s a bitch (or to like Zuko because or desptie that he’s an asshole). It’s like you like the character for exactly who they are. If that makes sense.
Of course I don’t think that it hurts to have soft/fluff headcanons to lighten the mood and stuff like that.
Anyhow I’m about to head to bed so I’m gonna end my rambles here.

Finished season 2!
I just finished season 1 of ATLA and I’m really enjoying it so far!
#i was right about the avatar state thing being too risky to fight ozai in! third eye wide open!#love toph! shes a baddie. you created metalbending? what. like its hard? love that for her#azula is great and i like that she has blue fire for no reason beyond aesthetic??#her plan to use the kyoshi warrior outfits was genius. 100 years the fire nation couldnt get in. she did it in five minutes#also azula takes a lot of cheap shots for being from a culture really obsessed with honor#iroh teaching zuko to redirect lightning 🥺#iroh and his son FUCK that hurt me.#AND THEN zuko fucking goes darkside again so iroh suffers defeat and the loss of a son at ba sing se AGAIN??? FUCK#zuko all season: forging his own path. discovering his ‘destiny’ may be something else. becoming a better person.#zuko the last five minutes of the season: strike that. reverse it. thank you.#PUNK. BITCH.#also the fact that katara ripped him a new asshole#and then the moment he said his mother was dead shes like uwu want me to use my super special occassion water to heal your scar babe#WHERE IS SUKI???? IS SHE OKAY???#sad appa episode made me emo#oh you know what was really wack? when aang had attachment as only katara#sokka toph appa momo: are we a joke to you?#that was so :/ like why dont we acknowledge the value of familial/platonic love???#aang literally calls them a ‘family’ and then two seconds later is like ‘well i actually only have attachment to katara’ WACK ASS HOE#is it just me or does ty lee seem like an airbender more than someone of the fire nation?#she has aang’s eyes and soft round face. and she practically flies through the air and is really spiritual#going into season 3...im curious to see zuko’s journey cause i know he becomes good for real and trains aang. so i wonder what happens.#i know azula ends up like that one bratz doll reaction image but i dont know Why. girl seems to have it all.#i imagine its just some of that good ol’ ozai parenting. piece of shit.#main prediction: the attack during the eclipse doesnt lead to aang v ozai cause thats a major cop out. final battle will be during the comet

It shocks me over and over again when I come across blogs that extremely aggressively, absolutely HATE LOK, Korra, korrasami and practically every character and aspect of the show. I have to share this horror with others because these are just a small part of the awful views from that blog (supposedly feminist and lesbian), interestingly, attitudes about LOK and korrasami were mostly positive or at least neutral in 2014-2015, and then abruptly changed sometime in the middle of last year which coincides with LOK finally being on Netflix, I will probably respond to if I am in the mood for a toxic discussion...
Anonymous asked:
“I think it's a bit hypocritical that you hate Korra's personality and not Zuko's.Zuko is arrogant asshole bitch and you like him. I never see you criticizing him like you do with Korra”
“Zuko is an arrogant asshole bitch, but he’s not annoying. Korra is an arrogant asshole bitch and is very annoying. Hope this helps!”
#asks#anti lok#going to absolutely BLOW YOUR MIND to find out that the quality of the media itself determines how much I like a character#as well as the quality of the characters development#also this isn't math there is no transitive property for liking characters#some hit and some don't#get over it#Anonymous
Anonymous asked:
“As soon as I heard “I’m the Avatar; you’ve gotta deal with it!” I knew I would fucking hate that show. I naturally hate people who are like that. If Bryke was still smart they would have thought to make Korra’s personality more like water similar to Aang with air, not “haha fuck you, I’m avatar haha!”
“LOL YEP like 3 seconds into the show you hear that, and understand EXACTLY what the rest of LOK is going to be like. Not only is a jarring contrast to Aang and every other Avatar we’ve seen, it directly contradicts everything we know about the Avatar cycle from ATLA. All the other Avatars have to be TOLD that they are the Avatar, and have to work hard to master their non-native elements. Korra just naturally being able to bend 3 elements when she’s like 5 tells you everything you need to know about how the creators of LOK went about making their show: worldbuilding and logic don’t matter, it’s all about flashy visuals and one-time gags.”
#asks#anti lok#DISGOSTING#'meh meh if korra was a MAN you wouldn't call her arrogant' I absolutely would#korra being a dickhead is not okay just because she's a woman#Anonymous

#asks#anti lok#but ur right#ACTUALLY I disagree on one point#asami doesn't act like a sister to korra#they act like work colleagues that only ever hang out during their lunch break#they act like very distant cousins that only talk on facebook#they act like people that share mutual friends but don't know each other that well#okay I'll stop#Anonymous
“Korra: 1/10, I will see myself out the door to be CANCELLED! Not only was her character very unlikeable, but the way fandom reared up to defend this (quite frankly) terrible character under the guise of “wokeness” when it is clear that the creators sprinkled in just enough ~representation~ to get brownie points without actually saying anything meaningful is just EMBARRASSING. Korra defenders are being manipulated by those cishet white men they hate so much, and they do it gladly. Anyway, I find Korra boring, disrespectful, and underdeveloped.”
#asks#ask game#character ask game#anti lok#SORRY YALL LOK'S CHARACTERS ARE BAD#also korra gives off 'mean feminine lesbian who calls gnc women slurs' vibes#korra and asami would bully me and then call me a homophobe#and kuvira gives off such heterosexuelle vibes I simply CANNOT with her#thetpot
“IT’S SO VILE! Korra is barely even an active character in her own show! She’s just a vessel that gets beaten and broken over and over again. She doesn’t actually get to LEARN from any mistakes that she makes, she’s just forced to recover from these external traumas that have literally nothing to do with her.
Ugh, tbh I feel NOTHING for korrasami. Korra and Asami don’t speak about anything except Mako for most of the show, and only really start actually TALKING to each other in the last half of season 4. None of Korra’s friends really spend that much time together throughout the runtime of the show tbh.
But yeah, it’s frustrating that people tout LOK as this amazing show staring a queer WOC, but the people making the show HATED Korra and HATED developing her in a meaningful way.”

if ur looking for an actual well-written canon wlw pairing in the atla verse, there’s rangshi. fc yee works so hard to fix all of bryke’s garbage, bless his soul. i have no hope for anything avatar studios related, but if fc yee is in the writer’s room, then there may be a very marginal chance that the stuff coming out is at least somewhat worthy of being associated with atla. the worldbuilding that he’s done in rise of kyoshi is insane.
I have heard good things about the Kyoshi novels! Unfortunately, LOK is the drop of shit that has poisoned the entire water supply. All ATLA-related works are going to have to be LOK compliant now, which is so deeply restrictive and contradictory to what I liked about ATLA in the first place. I feel like pre-canon stuff is safer (and again, heard AMAZING things about what FC Yee has done with a pre-ATLA world), but I guess I’m too cynical to get really invested in any more ATLA stuff anymore.

Azula the good sister AU (AKA the Fire siblings have a healthy relationship AU)
I’ve just finished binge watching Avatar the Last Airbender and I already have an AU ready in my head. Please enjoy my ridiculous rambling!
Azula is still really tough and intense but she isn’t a fucking psychopath like in the series
She’s still a bending prodigy and “daddy’s favorite” but the latter isn’t something she wanted or strived for
She shows affection by teasing people, but she is also fiercely loyal and protective over the people she cares about. Like she’s nice but she’ll still cut a bitch if they hurt her friends and brother.
As most siblings do Azula and Zuko like to playfully argue and insult each other:
Zuko: *having just woken up*
Azula: wow you look like shit
Zuko: big talk coming from a midget with rat nest hair
Azula: at least I only look like this in the morning, you willingly keep that rat tail on top of your head. No wonder you have no friends!
Zuko: oh yeah what’s your excuse then?
They’re the type of siblings that in a modern-day setting would send each other a picture of a toaster saying “I found you a new bath bomb”
She absolutely adores her older brother and Zuko took his role as older sibling in stride even if Azula could practically take care of herself
They’re great training partners
Their favorite memory as children was feeding turtle ducks with their mother, they still do so even now after she’s gone
When she overheard her grandfather ordering her father to kill Zuko she left to tell her mother immediately afterwards she snuck into Zuko’s room to cuddle with him in bed claiming that she’d had a nightmare.
Their mother came in to kiss them goodbye goodnight before disappearing into the night. Zuko had been half asleep so he had no idea what was going on but Azula did and she knew what her mother was about to do. She didn’t know what the outcome would be but she knew that it would be the last time she’d ever see her mother.
Azula never told Zuko what happened only that it was all their father’s fault
It was then they began mutually hating on their father
Of course, they had no choice but to respect him as he was still the Fire Lord and could possibly kill them. But as soon as he was out of ear shot the siblings were like:
Azula: Why the fuck did he think growing out his beard was a good idea???
Zuko: He looks like a goat-pig
Uncle Iroh treats them both as his own children and helps them perfect their fire bending as well as teach them the art of tea brewing. Zuko still thinks it’s stupid but Azula becomes just as much of a tea fanatic as her uncle
Azula has had a giant crush on Ty Lee ever since they were children and everyone, but Ty Lee knows about it. On the flip side Ty Lee also has a giant crush on Azula ever since childhood and everyone but Azula knows about it.
Azula: That's a sharp outfit, Ty Lee. Careful. You could puncture the hull of an empire-class Fire Nation battleship, leaving thousands to drown at sea, because it's so sharp.
Ty Le: *confused but happy that her crush complemented her* Gee thanks Zula.
Azula: *later, screaming into her pillow* I’m such an idiot!
Zuko: *sitting beside her, sipping tea* Yeah, you really are.
The day Zuko was challenged to Agni Kai Azula told him that he was an idiot and that he better kick that loser general’s ass or it would be an embarrassment to both their training. It was her own way of telling him to be careful and that she was rooting for him.
When she found out that it was her father challenging Zuko to Agni Kai she had to be held back by Iroh to keep her from jumping into the arena to help her brother
Azula was determined to join her brother in his banishment but Zuko wouldn’t allow her, saying how it was his fault for speaking out of term and that his sister shouldn’t have to suffer from his mistakes.
They had a big fight after that because the siblings were nothing if not hotheaded and stubborn. Zuko didn’t want his sister to leave all she knew behind just because of him and Azula didn’t want to be stuck doing nothing while her brother suffers alone.
They parted there days later, regretful, angry, and sad. They didn’t necessarily apologies (let’s be honest what kind of siblings apologies to each other) but they did start writing letters to each other, which was their way of saying that they were cool now.
Zuko wrote to her about his journey to find the Avatar as well as Uncle Iroh’s ridiculous jokes and tea ramblings while Azula wrote to him about how things are back home as well as potential places where the Avatar could be located.
Both aren’t sure if the Avatar even exists anymore, but they keep hoping as it means that they will one day be reunited with each other.
The day Zuko found the Avatar he entrusted only his sister with the information as he knew that once word got out that the Avatar was still alive it would be an all-out man hunt.
Everything works out relatively the same as in the series except with Azula helping out her brother in the background. She’d secretly send her brother information about general Zhao’s whereabouts so as to avoid him as well as any resources he needed for his journey.
When Ozai ordered Azula to go retrieve her brother and uncle she was both delighted and terrified; she was happy to see her brother again, but she didn’t want to take him as her prisoner. So of course, she came up with a plan.
The first thing Azula said to her brother after two and a half years apart was: “Wow, you look like shit.”
He replied without missing a beat: “Big talk coming from a midget with rat nest hair.”
They hug for the longest time and in that moment, she quietly resights her plan to him: They had to pretend to escape from her and go into hiding. She’ll pretend to hunt him down and he’ll somehow manage to escape from her clutches every time. All the while they’ll work together in trying to capture the Avatar.
She enlists the help of Mai and Ty Lee telling them the minimal amount of information just in case things go south they can plead manipulation. Of course, Mai and Ty Lee are ready to go down with their captain/friend no matter what, but they don’t mind being out of the loop for the time being. They trust Azula and know that everything she does is to help her brother and uncle.
The events leading up to the battle of Ba Sing Se are pretty similar up until the part where Zuko makes a choice between helping the Avatar or his kingdom. He’s realized the pain and terror his ancestors have installed in the world; tearing away hope for a better future.
Just as Azula was about to strike Aang with a finishing blow Zuko stops her, telling her what they’ve been doing is wrong and if they want the world to prosper, they need to help the Avatar.
Azula was a bit annoyed seeing as she went through the trouble of sneaking into Ba Sing Se and taking over the earth kingdom from the inside out. But then again, her brother was right as she already knew of her father’s end game plan.
Azula: Zuzu, I love you, but couldn’t you have told me we were going to rebel against father sooner so I could have planned accordingly.
Just as there are loyalist to the Fire Lord there are also loyalist to the Princess as they see her as a more fit leader than the current ruler. And thus, that is how team Avatar was able to get a good portion of the fire nation army on their side.
Ba Sing Se has now been established as their main base with the entire city now having chosen the side of the Avatar.
At this point Azula still had Suki and the Kyoshi warriors held prisoner close by so she was able to bring them back without much fuss.
Azula: Er, sorry for imprisoning you and stuff. I just needed to save my stupid brother but we’re on your side now. Cool?
Suki: Only if I get to punch you in the face as hard as I can.
Azula: That seems fair.
Katara does NOT trust Azula and Zuko which is fine because Azula doesn’t trust her either but she knows they need to work together if they want to even have a slim chance of beating her father.
Katara: You might have everyone else here buying your ‘transformation,’ but you and I both know you’ve struggled with doing the right thing in the past. So, let me tell you something right now. You make one step backward, one slipup, give me one reason to think you might hurt Aang, and you won’t have to worry about your destiny anymore. Because I’ll make sure your destiny ends right then and there. Permanently!
Azula: Right back attcha bitch!
Toph and Azula get along swimmingly which both amuses and terrifies Zuko because one: he’s glad that his sister is finally making somewhat normal friends but two: those two together is just chaos incarnate
Ty Lee also really bonds with the Kyoshi warriors who teach her some of their fighting techniques in exchanged for her teaching them some chi blocking moves.
Suki and Mai start getting cozy with each other with Suki liking Mai’s skills and straightforward attitude and Mai admiring Suki’s confidence and bravery. It’s easy to talk with each other.
Sokka, at one point: Why the hell don’t we just send the girls out to defeat the Fire Nation? We’re all completely useless compared to them.
Also after a few month working together Zuko can now join his sister in her gay screaming
Azula: Did you seriously fall for that Water Tribe boy?
Zuko: You’re one to talk!
Azula: Hey! Ty Lee is an angel and we’re all lucky to have her!
Zuko: She once ate a whole bowl of fire flakes by herself and had to get her stomach pumped.
Azula: Look, what Fire Nation teen hasn’t done that at least once
Zuko: She did it THREE times!
Once the siblings and Co finally bond well enough with team Avatar tension lessens and their attitude go from: “uhg, I guess we have to work together or whatever” to “you are my friend now and I would die for you! I would literally commit murder if you asked me to, no questions asked”
Aang is baby and the Fire squad has now joined in the “Aang protection army” and in a similar fashion team Avatar have also learned that Ty Lee is baby and have now joined the “Ty Lee protection squad”. Even though Aang and Ty Lee are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves one cannot help but want to protect and care for the literal ray of sun shines.
Zuko and Sokka still have their epic rescue adventure to the boiling rock, with the extra help of their team. They sneak into the facility with disguises, Azula and her crew walk in like they own the place (news of her betrayal to the Fire Lord has yet to reach certain places), while the rest of team Avatar keep watch from afar just in case things start going south.
You know that scene where Zuko gets put in the freezer and when Sokka goes to let him out Zuko breathes out a breath of fire with a smirk? It was then and there that Sokka realized that his teeny tiny crush on Zuko might actually be a giant massive crush.
In this AU it is actually Azula that helps Katara track down the man that killed her mother because let’s face it, no matter what universe she’s in Azula will always be down to beat a bitch is ass.
This is the first time Azula has ever witness somebody blood bending and unlike most people that would usually freak out she was actually really impress and kind of turned on.
Azula: You know if I weren’t already madly in love with Ty Lee, I’d ask you to marry me in a heartbeat.
Katara: And I would accept that offer if only for the pleasure of rubbing it in your dad’s face
Azula: Why didn’t we become friends sooner?!?!
It is then the Little Sister alliance was formed in which they teamed up to poke fun at their bumbling brothers who keep awkwardly dancing around each other.
Their friendship can be summed up to: “I will kill you where you stand but also I respect you”
Okay, Imma just say this right now: Sokka is a fucking badass and even after getting taught how to fight by the Kyoshi warriors and the Fire sibling + Co. he reached a whole new level of badassery once he learned the ways of the sword by Master Piandao. Zuko’s little gay heart could only take so much and Sokka being all cool and collected while wielding a sword made the former Fire Prince short-circuit.
Zuko, in his tent, face down screaming into his pillow: Uhg, I can’t with this boy anymore!
Suki, rolling her eyes at her best friend’s melodramatics: Pull yourself together man.
Ty Lee, patting his head reassuringly: Don’t worry, you’ll get through this.
Azula, sipping tea beside him: This wouldn’t be happening if you just asked him out already.
Zuko: Don’t you fucking start with me hypocritical bitch!
Azula: *nervous gay drinking*
The day of the final battle Azula and Katara lead Hakoda’s army plus the Kyoshi Warriors to reclaim the fire nation capital while Aang, Zuko, Sokka, and Toph chased after the Fire Lord and his war ships.
The battle to take back the capital was brutal as there was still an entire army keeping guard with one of the Fire Lord’s generals acting as temporary leader. Unfortunately for them Azula still had a reputation of fear amongst the Fire Nation army and a lot of soldiers surrendered once they realized it was her leading the invasion and not the Avatar. Those that didn’t surrendered were defeated in battle because let’s be honest with a team this fierce there is no way in hell they couldn’t not win.
There’s also a scene where Azula is fighting off the general and a bunch of soldiers and it seems like she’s not gunna make it but she does, bloody and bruised but victorious. I imagen in that moment Ty Lee goes running up to Azula, jumps into her arms, and kisses her right then and there, while they’re still in the middle of battle. It’s super cool and romantic and it seemed to give Azula more energy than Sozin’s comet ever could as she seemed now ready to defeat god.
Azula: Y’all bitches be fucked now! I ain’t afraid to die but now that I gotta girlfriend I’m not going nowhere fuckers!
With Aang and his team it goes about the same as it did in the show; take down the ships, battle the Fire Lord, almost die, etc. That scene where Sokka thinks that Suki died on the aircraft is now replaced with Zuko almost dying then coming back to save their asses at the late minute. They too also kiss once they see that the other is unharmed while Toph rolls her eyes and gags at the sight.
Again, Aang does not kill the Fire Lord and instead takes away his fire bending powers before locking him in prison to rot. The fire siblings come by sometimes to annoy the shit out of him by flicking fire flakes at his head for target practice or psychologically torture him with excruciating detail of how they’ve been thoroughly fucked by their significate others in is bed and on his thrown.
Zuko: How’s it feel knowing that not only are both your kids gay but they’re also bottoms?
Ozai: *screams*
Azula: Ty Lee also fucked me atop your war room table :)
Ozai: *screams intensify*
In the end Zuko really doesn’t want to be Fire Lord so he happily passes that torch on to Azula who only agrees to take the job so long as Zuko becomes her second in command. Everyone is happy and with a lot of hard work throughout the years there is finally peace amongst the four nations.

12!!! 16 and 19 for the zk asks 🥰
sim!!! :D thank you for sending these in!!! <333 i’ll message you back soon!
12. what are your steambaby headcanons?
let’s keep it short! :’)
kya and izumi are one year apart; kya was born first, and is a master waterbender (both healing and combative! she insisted on wanting to be exactly like katara because she adores katara that much).
also, katara had an intense cold while pregnant with her—not even zuko sharing his body heat was enough to keep her warm for long 😭
izumi is a non bender, but she masters sword fighting, kyoshi style fighting, chi blocking, etc etc. and while she is a nonbender, she moves fluidly like a waterbender, and her stances are similar to that of a firebender’s.
hmm...i wonder why?
iroh is a firebender. katara had an intense fever while pregnant with him, and zuko just knew. but when he was born, just to make sure, zuko held a ball of tinder underneath iroh’s nose—and...yep. iroh is a firebender. he learns from the dragons the way zuko did, and thrives while doing so.
iroh is two years younger than izumi and three years younger than kya.
(maybe they have one or two more steambabies, but i like to think they have three for now, take a break, and then try for more later on.) (also, as the youngest kid out of three kids, two older siblings is definitely enough, okay? shit. i wouldn’t be able to handle two younger kids bugging me)
also, katara and zuko are really patient with their steambabies; zuko is really relieved that he’s nothing like ozai. he and a therapist helped katara with her abandonment issues so when the steambabies want to leave and travel the world, she’ll be okay with it. :’))
but when the steambabies do leave and travel, they write letters to zuko and katara like crazy :’))) they always say they miss them and that they miss home and stuff like that, and always send zuko and katara lil gifts from wherever they’re visiting from.
so sweet :’)))
i like to think that they would all travel the world together, all three of them. they get on each other’s nerves, yeah, but they love each other. that’s what’s important.
16. do you think zuko and katara feelings for each other in canon or post canon?
yes and yes.
let me explain.
they definitely have feelings for each other in canon, but just didn’t realize it until post-canon.
i mean—zuko lets katara touch his scar. he closes his eyes, and lets her do it. that, in itself, is a big fucking deal, and i never thought of them as just ‘platonic’ after that. watching the crossroads of destiny for the first time—it’s hard to believe that they didn’t end up being canon in the show.
like, here, you have zuko, and zuko is known for pushing people away, and not opening up to others—but he does it with katara.
and here, you have katara, who is known for being compassionate and selfless even to her own detriment, who is yelling at zuko and openly cries when she talks about losing her mother.
here, you have two characters who have been changing since the series began. they’ve been interacting through most of it as enemies, but then, surrounded by glowing crystals—they make a connection, and there’s trust that’s made as a result.
(and then zuko betrays her...but that’s why zk fics starting from cod, where zuko chooses the gang, are always so good.)
imo, it’s completely possible that non platonic feelings could have been formed in the crystal catacombs, and they just didn’t realize it for a long time because there was always so much going on, you know? they had a lot to deal with during canon. not to say they didn’t have a lot to deal with post canon, but you get my point.
i just think they would’ve realized their feelings for each other post canon because they would be able to talk more—especially since katara would have to check on zuko a lot for his lightning wound. imo, in atla, lightning wounds would be rare, because bending lightning is rare (right?...i could be wrong about that tbh), so katara would have to be close to zuko at all times...and would probably have to think about why zuko sacrificing himself for her was so terrifying.
(they definitely liked each other after tsr though. i know that much!!!)
19. what do you think would have happened if atla got a book 4?
listen, sim. listen.
what i would think would have happened is—i think it would’ve been a lot like the comics, seeing as how br*ke created the comics as continuations of atla...like, br*ke would’ve taken over a lot just to make sure that no one would think zutara is a thing.
they would have a lot of m*iko and k*taang moments that they think are cute but are actually toxic, and they would do azula dirty. in fact, they would do a lot of characters dirty (considering the fact that they thought tsr was about aang being the angel on katara’s shoulder...yeah no doubt they would fuck things up for a lot of characters. aang’s development in b3 was...not good. i feel like they would attempt to give mai an episode, but they would butcher it).
they, br*ke, would fuck up b4 phenomenally. of course, they would try to have funny filler episodes, but...it just wouldn’t have worked out with them in charge. i mean, whenever they changed things in the episodes from b3, it wasn’t good at all. they aren’t good at writing as people praise them to be, that’s for damn sure.
what i would want is elizabeth welch (i think that’s her name? she was in charge of all the good episodes like zuko alone and the southern raiders) to be charge of writing atla book four, and man...that shit would be good. it would be golden.
she would handle zutara right, i know she would. 😌😌😌
#honeymilkchai#zutara#zutara asks#this got long#i didn’t want this to be so long#i feel like my saltiness towards br*ke rlly came out#my bad#😭😭#i hope....these make sense!!!!#i just kept typing and typing and typing#and then i was like ‘i should stop’#so i did#i’m such a mess!!!!#but also yes zk is canon#we’ve always known#😌

Okay before I kinda log off this blog completely for my new account and bc I don't have any intentions on doing anything with the Avatar Lian/Zutara grandbaby au I'm just gonna leave my final thoughts on what it would have gone into for if anyone ever wants to do anything with it;
So Lians airbending master would have been Jesa obviously, as the two of them ran off together to go travel the world. They would have also been accompanied by a nonbinary character who was either gonna be a waterbender and healer to help Lian learn that side of her waterbending or a nonbender who was skilled with a sword. Her Earthbending teacher was gonna be a very patient and sturdy, very self reflective girl who would have helped Lian learn patience.
Her firebending instructor would actually have been a cousin of hers. Just...not a first cousin. It would have been Azulas grandson.
Azula had fled her own imprisonment and institutionalization and hidden in the Earth Kingdom, taking on the identity of being someone from the colonies. She lived out in either a small town or perhaps even Ba Sing Se where no one could find her, eventually found a partner tho he died when their only child was just a baby. She taught her child and grandchildren everything she could about Firebending but never revealed who they were to them.
Lian would have eventually found her and found out who she was and tried to learn Firebending from her because she knew how strong her Great Aunt was and figured it could werve to help redeem her and bring her back to their family.
This, however, is foiled and Azulas actually kidnapped by one of the antagonists and her grandson is begrudgingly forced to become Lians Firebending teacher while trying to track down his Grandmother.
One of the antagonists would have been the new head of a police force of Metalbenders -- a former student of Tophs who was banished from her school and he took whwt teachings he had gotten and used them to create a new take on the Dai Li -- who his father Long Feng had once been in charge of, a fact he kept hidden from the world. Since then they had become a privatized police force who spread across the Earth Kingdom qnd he was planning a bit of a coup to regain status for his family and even take over what would be Republic City.
He would, however, be working with a far bigger antagonist for his own gains.
I am talking about that Bitch; Zhao.
Zhao, while lost in the Spirit World, would find angry, dark hearted Spirits who had bitter feelings towards the Avatar, who was supposed to be the bridge and peacemaker between worlds, a Spirit themselves reborn every generation as a mortal human to keep the Balance.
(There would have been a whole storyline about this Spirit and I believe they would have been one of the Original Spirits, perhaps even having a connection to the original benders and the Lion Turtles, but was not going to be Raava and there was no Vaatu. Since this was an AU storyline, I was gonna go all in and go back to the scrapped concept the wiki talked about the Avatar being the Spirit of the Earth).
Zhao teamed up with one of the most powerful of the Dark Spirits who wanted power themselves and Zhao wanted out of the Spirit World to become a Conqueror. Essentially a Global Domination storyline using the advances in technology, going after the Original Benders and the last Lion Turtle, killing the Avatar while in the Avatar State, and finishing what Ozai started. Mostly because I feel like with there being Spirits still pissed off about what Kuruk and Yangchen had done (and hell you could even count Kyoshis era for the Father Glowworm thing) and Zhao just being left there it could have led to a very interesting team up and a threat of an antagonist and tying up loose ends completely.
Also him teaming up with the son of Long Feng who also wants power and status returned to his name and wants revenge becausr the Avatar and Azula fucked everything for his family. Why not go after two birds with one stone? And it shows the repercussions of some of these villains kinda not getting a full resolution as seems to be a pattern with some of the antagonists in Avatar.
Lian would have been forced to face all of this head on while still trying to figure out what being the Avatar means to her, learning how to bend the elements, running from the White Lotus who want to enforce how they believe the Avatar needs to be trained, and trying very hard on learning how to connect with Aang and her other past lives for help.
And mostly finding that guidance with Uncle Iroh after she gets stuck in the Spirit World on accident and he helps her out od that meditative state after a long cup of tea together bc he needs to spend time with his great great niece. I also think it'd be cool if she met Yue at one point.
And also when she takes down Zhao if she teamed up with the Original Benders. I am talking rainbow fire with the dragons. Getting help from the Badgermoles. Jesas Flying Bison helping wreck some shit. And most importantly her getting help from the Moon and Ocean Spirits and just. Absolutely going full Spirit Kaiju as a cinematic parallel to end Zhao. But that's just my thought process on that.
Messy, I know. And like there's a lot of thoughts I had I never wrote down or fully fleshed out but these were concepts I thought of while trying to work on the Lian storyline and just. I don't really feel up to trying to get all cohesive or in a proper fic or webcomic style so like. If anyone in this fandom wants to take this over and clean it up, be my guest, y'all can go fucking crazy with it if you want it. And if you don't, that's fine too.
Take care of yourselves guys. And if anyone wants my new blog, just shoot me an ask on here I may check back at some point on the messages.
Love y'all.

zukka hp au part 5
I’m so flattered people like this au. I didn’t think I’d be posting again so soon, but I had some more ideas last night. If you’d like to catch up:
part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5 part 6 part 7 part 8 part 9 part 10 part 11 part 12 part 13
If you would like to join the tag list
My brief, very long, not at all fleshed out plan based roughly on what year Sokka is in and other associated events:
First year
Sokka’s first year is boring
He meets Zuko, makes some friends in his house, probably a bunch of OCs
He finds the kitchens on day 2
Hogwarts just hires people who like to cook, who cares whether they’re magical beings or humans or whatever, there’s all sorts of really cool kitchen magic though
He’s always asking questions in class and you can tell why he’s a Ravenclaw
He wants to learn about everything
And once he knows how to do more than shoot a few sparks, he’s going to start inventing
He’s going to do some truly awesome things with transfiguration and potions
And I can’t wait for him to start arithmancy
Like let me tell you, Sokka is a genius, and he’s probably going to be the only one who understands magical theory
This just ended up being a rant about Sokka, so moving on
Second year
The fun starts
Katara and Aang are finally here
Sokka doesn’t know Aang is the avatar
I’m very tempted to have both Katara and Aang be in Hufflepuff
And they run into Sokka in the kitchens
He does a double take, like who is this boy with my sister??
But Aang’s a sweet kid
So Sokka is immediately like we’re bros now, I don’t make the rules
Iroh starts working at Hogwarts (sorry, I changed my mind from herbology) as the potions professor
He comes in on the train with Zuko who just got banished (I actually...might change the specifics)
Sokka doesn’t know what to make of that
Azula is also skulking around annoying Zuzu
But I think she secretly cares a bit and threatens anyone that looks at his scar wrong, because Zuko helped her a lot with some stuff
I think she’s going to be in the same year as Katara and Aang? I’m not sure
I have plans for Azula
I think Mai and Ty Lee are going to be in Zuko’s year, but closer to Azula
Mai and Zuko will date at some point
I think Mai will end up with Ty Lee
But she and Zuko had a short relationship
I think it was more expected of them by their families that they date
But they’re good friends now
I’m not doing this betraying and cheating and hurting other characters to find out who you are thing
Everyone is having wholesome relationships that just don’t work out
(Sidenote, I’m changing things, and characters might end up a bit OOC for atla, and I’m really sorry, but this is just wish fulfillment for me)
Anyway, there’s a plot to find the avatar
The mini gaang (toph isn’t here yet) learn the prophecy (still working on it)
Third year
They find out about Sokka and Katara’s mom
I don’t think Hakoda really knows what happened either. I don’t think he was in the country at the time
I also have some ideas for the water tribe/fire nation beef, but I just made the realization that if I spell everything out in these posts, what’s the point of writing for Ao3 XD
But spoilers, it’s going to be pretty angsty
But I like happy endings, so I may find a way to fix it
Ish
I have this whole idea that if Suki or the Kyoshi are also werewolves, they have really cool rituals to respect and honor the moon spirit and that allows them the ability to turn into wolves whenever they want and not just the full moon
So other people can also be born as werewolves, but different groups have different ways of being a werewolf
Also, I believe I said Zuko starts following Suki around thinking she’s the avatar
And then Sokka decides to fake being the avatar (I completely forgot when I said this would happen, so I’m assuming it’s this year or the next)
This is about when Sokka’s letters to Hakoda start going on about Zuko’s everything even more
Fourth year
Zuko (Zuko’s fifth year) witnesses something unspeakable
Sokka is kidnapped
Zuko saves Sokka
That’s all the detail I have on this XD
But the unspeakable thing and the kidnapping are going to be this year’s mystery
Zuko, the idiot, still thinks Sokka is the avatar at this point
Aang is like no
But doesn’t bother to say he is
So Zuko thinks Katara is the avatar for a hot sec
But has some nonsense logic that there’s no need to stop following Sokka, because if he or his sister are the avatar, of the two, Sokka’s more likely to give something away
Which okay, Zuko, not actually terrible reasoning, except Sokka’s been leading you around by the nose for ages
There’s none of this the avatar rotates which element they can use
Because that’s predictable
And half the fun is that Zuko is trying his best, but has zero clues
Fifth year
This is the big question
I’m not sure what to do with this year
I hope Sokka can start inventing
I want him to make some cool shit
There won’t be an equivalent of the DA as far as I can see :( I can’t figure out how I’d structure that
I think it would be really cool to see them all learning how to use their elemental magic though
Toph and Zuko don’t really need the help
Katara and Aang have always had to deal with all the crap going on, so they haven’t had much time for it
I’m wondering if I should bring in Paku
Aang has it rough, because air magic users are really rare now
So I think he might work with Iroh, because he’s studied other styles of magic extensively
Sixth year
I think Mai had to figure out she was bi
I truly think Zuko doesn’t have time for gender
For like five years, he’s like DO YOU KNOW WHO THE AVATAR IS and if you don’t, he’s already forgotten who you are
So my headcanon is that he’s pan and when he and Sokka eventually get together, Sokka doesn’t know anything about his orientation and just knows he dated Mai, so he’s like “are you cool with me being a dude? Sorry, I just know you’ve dated Mai, so just checking haha?”
And Zuko’s so done with all the random crap he’s dealt with that he’s like “wow, you have a dick? Congratulations”
But then realizes Sokka’s actually concerned and talks it out
Anyway, everyone’s leveled up now, we’re all masters at elemental and non-elemental magic (seriously, Sokka could’ve sat for his NEWTs last year if he wanted to. He’s that far ahead and magic is that intuitive for him)
I have no idea what will happen this year lol
I kind of want an invasion of Hogwarts, I know I’ve been trying not to just blindly follow the books completely :/ So I guess we’ll see?
I’ll have to work on that
I’m such a sucker for the villain waits until the end of the school year to attack
Because it’s so dumb
Like I will find the avatar! *shakes fist* But education is important, kids
Like okay, Sozin
Maybe I can have Roku finally escape that mirror
I kind of want the past avatars to be spirits that anyone can interact with
But most people don’t know how
So the Kyoshi can interact with Avatar Kyoshi as well as other relevant spirits
Seventh year
????
The plot?? Who knows yet
I do know that Zuko’s graduated
And they’re all crying and like wtf do we do now
Because Sozin’s still around and they’ll miss him
And finally Zuko leaves
And he shows up as the assistant DADA professor and he’s like “Hi, Zuko here” and then he’s like “I mean, fuck, Professor Zuko, I mean, fuck...just call me Zuko. You guys all know me”
And the gaang is all like wtf Zuko, we thought we would only see you for breaks
And he’s like you really thought I’d leave you
The plan is that he’ll be an apprentice for a year or so and then take over as professor
Toph punches him so hard, Katara has to heal the bruise
I can guarantee a happy ending
I’ll do whatever angst on the way, but they’ll all be happy
I’m like 89% sure they’re all going to end up working at or around Hogwarts (why work for the government, when you can invest in teaching all these talented kids)
One more thing, there is going to be rep in this au. I know there’s at least one aro ace character. Multiple bi characters. One gay character. One pan character. One trans character that I know of, but I need to plan that out a bit more. Some of these orientations and identities, I can’t speak to personally. For instance, while I know a decent amount about the medical aspects of transitioning, I don’t think I’d be able to write the experience of gender dysphoria and give that its due right now. So unless it’s something I have first hand experience with, most of the individual emotions as part of figuring things out might happen off screen. That doesn’t mean I won’t bring up issues the characters may have had in the past, but any that I talk about, I’d have to do more research into first. Also, partly because this is mostly from Sokka and Zuko’s perspectives, we’re mostly going to be present for what other characters tell them about their experiences
I hope you continue to enjoy this au! Sorry, this got so insanely long. The next couple weeks are going to be a bit crazy for me, so I thought I’d write this up while I had the chance. I’ll be back soon though! If anyone has any suggestions or questions, please let me know :)

I am not great at theorizing but I would love to hear about your favorite characters from atla!
oh my, i am SO down for this. let me take a look, okay
i wont rank them or anything bc i love them all, but my top five would be uncle iroh, sokka, toph, suki, and azula.
UNCLE IROH. is the story's source of lesson and of wisdom. he is such an icon and he is loved by all istg he is the best man ever i love him so much i wish i was related to him as a niece like zuko or something. he truly is so wise and kind against all.
he is one of a kind, he was such a gem and held a strong view of what was wrong and what was right. i think people underestimate how great of a bender he is, tho. he was a member of the order of the lotus (eyyy the oldies but goldies gang basically lmao) aka the strongest people ever hello?? he represented the fire nation in that group and my GOd is he an amazing one.
he is different from most, because unlike other firebenders, his skills and abilities aren't directly derived from anger and fury. that's why he isn't as hot headed as regular firebenders and even teaches zuko about this (which works bc zuko is considerably calmer later in the series)
and then there is his legacy. mans beat an entire dragon in a battle of flames?? he breathes fire too so that's always the coolest thing ever and his diligence while working himself back to prepare for war in that prison absolutely took me out omg the way he strategizes??? explains why he was a general. he has a heart of gold unlike any.
SOKKA. now for him, i have the biggest amount of respect and adoration for. let's adress the elephant in the room here. he singlehandedly devised a ginormous plan to defeat am empire that has been raising tyranny for over a century. how fucking awsome can one get?? mr sexy brain amirite?
plus, he was completely skilless the first part of the series and his entire growth just blows me away every single time. sure, he had his little boomerang but that was it. after they created gaang tho, his potential was so fully exploited i cant even express how proud i am oml he was diamond in the rough.
he acted so brash and was the comedic relief character a lot of the times, so his subtle feats of intelligence didn't get noticed a lot, but oml the way i am down bad for him. his determination and desperation to become god at a skill is so enjoyable to watch like,,, the piandao episode where he learns how to wield a sword is one of my favorite episodes of all time!! anyways, this is getting alittle long so lets move on to....
TOPH BEIFONG. listen. lis-ten. thats my girl right there. i was eight when i first watched atla and she was twelve and the amount of confidence she instilled in little-me is just- *sobs* (also i realized that she is literlly the only character in this with an official lastname lmfao)
toph is forever going to remain as THAT icon. her mindset is as stable and stubborn as they go because of her earthbending lmao i love how self-assured she is. she is the definition of born into riches, growing to become greatness.
her heritage is not at all important to who she is as a character and most people even forget that she is insanely wealthy because she never mentions it. but anyway that is beside my point idk why i touched on this aspect. moving on!!
i feel like they portrayed her childish nature so well in this series like?? sure, she was the greatest earthbender of all time and still is, she was also a twelve year old tween lmao she was something else istg
and her sass, humor and just her entire attitude was so solid oml she was THAT bitch and i mean it in the most awed way possible. i can talk about her more but imma keep it short for this post's sake.
SUKI. my idol right here y'all. this is my og feminist queen right here. badass woman i love her so much. embodies courage, hard work and strength in oneself. man, kyoshi warriors are super awesome i literlly do not have any other words about her other than "woah"
obviously, she couldnt bend at all but growing up on kyoshi island, one made by avatar kyoshi herself by literally parting an entire section of land away to carry them back to make an island by spouting out lava hundreds of miles down the ocean floor is just???? but we aren't here to talk about the blood-thirsty woman rn-
she learned how to deal damage on benders who dared to attack their homeland and she is just- just- idk ugh she is so gorgeous too like?? forget about sokka please, come marry me instead i beg you ;-;
suki is so quick to react to danger and doesn't wait for anyone to save the day. she knows what she can do and she does her best to help ;-; im thinking about that once moment when toph fell into the ocean and suki was the first one to dive right in their to save her while everyone else was just literally standing there lmao even katara who could literally bend water
AZULA. now, this is where shit goes down. i lover her as a character that has been developed to show what a bad childhood environment could lead to in children who are particularly cunning and born a little sharper than others.
azula was a threat to all at the age of fifteen. fif-teen. she was a mastermind in countless incredible plans that overtake populations and she is so incredible quick-witted. perfectly evil for the sake of being evil, but also not at the same time.
the azula we last see in the agni kai between her and zuko, her own bilogical older brother whom she had tormented pretty much their entire life, was the product of accumulated trauma and pressure that she had been subject to ever since she had learned bending fire. blue fire.
she had shown from the start that she was gifted and strong and was on a league of her own compared to other kids. all of her childhood was spent garnering the approval of her father and grandfather who were toxic and evil and bad role models for her. anyone who grows up in bad environments are guaranteed to turn out messed up.
her mother preferred the softer zuko than her sadistic daughter and not receiving her mother's affection enough really showed its consequences in the last few episodes where you get to see her breaking down. she hallucinates about her mother and it was so heartbreaking to watch for me as a seventeen year old. i didn't really get the extent of her pschotic breakdown as an eight year old.
for heaven's sake, she was a devil. idk my thought are so scattered rn but i feel like i can make a post about her complicated character later when i gather my thoughts properly bahaha
tldr for azula: gifted child gone horribly wrong
anyhow, this was super fun omg
