I’ve been thinking about the Whisperer/Housekeeper, and like, I’m not sure if it’s ever confirmed what it’s specifically the god of, right?
I mean, we know the trait is negative, whatever it is, considering his ties to things like zombies, negative association with PIE, and goal of plunging the world into literal chaos, right? Like, I can’t imagine he’s the god of innocence and humility when he’s gashing open portals to hell and embedding gold in his body. Given his origin, being the child of a polyamorous fusion of the borderline gods who created the actual universe and is older than the planet Earth, like, an easy interpretation is that if the Great One is the god of everything that exists, the Whisperer is everything that doesn’t. Anti-matter and black holes created incidentally through the existence of matter and suns— chaos to order, the depletion of time, things like that. However, I do pose an alternative to my own theory.
I think the Housekeeper might be a god of family or the hearth on top of various other things. His lore makes him borderline siblings with the actual literal universe and the son of the biggest family I have ever heard of— there’s the family tie right there. He is called the Housekeeper as one of his titles, too, implying he. Housekept. Or was known for housekeeping. I assume, between his two nicknames, that he was one of those gods who had a name that you couldn’t speak without giving them power, so they’d get nicknames instead (like Persephone… and maybe also ‘the Spence’?). So like, even if he is a dark and terrible god, him having a direct association to households and family could be important to who he really is past the manipulation and reign of chaos, right?
There’s also the implication that he might be a trickster like Loki from how quick he turns to manipulation, but I think it’s different than that. His title “the whisperer” and the fact that he takes alternate forms when trying to make people do things or lure them into false senses of security, plus that he’s been trapped in his pocket dimension since ancient times… I think he’s less of a trickster and more like a really manipulative creature with a lot of power doing everything he can to break free. His first sighting was 1936, and it’s likely all the scientists playing god in the 1900s did something to weaken the dimensional link, allowing the whisperer to leak into the real world and influencing people through that. All I’m saying is— I dunno if he’s a trickster or just a guy associated with manipulation and control to get what he wants.
So, yeah. “The Whisperer”, God of Chaos, family, leadership, and the hearth?
Also the fact that he was born to a polyamorous fusion of 13 gods and has had 36 sightings and has been attributed to 13 deaths since 1936 in 2013 and then gets free in 2018 in one timeline is… that’s suspicious, right? That isn’t just me? I have absolutely no idea what it means— if anything— but it makes me concerned. Also yes I’m gonna try to give all of them human designs like Spencer who do you think I am.
