Arc V Anniversary Day 2

Day Two: Is/How is Arc V a part of your daily life?

Arc V is definitely a part of my daily life. I imagine that this is pretty obvious for anyone who follows me, looks through my blog or reads the header of my blog. I think about the series pretty much every day. I think about why I like certain characters, why I really liked how certain events played out, what events I wish happened differently and just how much I appreciate the series as a whole. I also do this to prepare for whenever topics come up here. Admittedly, I don't know how much that helps me since I'll still spend probably too much time worrying about my wording, but having a general idea of what I'd want to say before the topic comes up probably helps out a bit. I've been spending some time the past few weeks thinking about my answers to these prompts as well. I've wondered how to answer some of the new questions and how I should handle questions that I answered last year. I wouldn't mind just talking about the same characters all over again, but I could add some new details I found when rewatching the series or include other characters when they fit a specific prompt. I'm still thinking about how to handle those questions, so that could change when we get to those days.

I also have some Arc V merchandise as decorations like one of my many Yuya keychains on my lap desk, a Yuya mug and the three starter decks featuring Yuya. I imagine that this makes it pretty clear who my favorite Arc V character is. I tend to look through a few sites like ebay to see if I can import more Arc V merchandise. I try to be careful with how much money I spend importing merchandise since even getting the keychains can be a bit expensive. Not to mention I can be an incredibly indecisive person. Even though I love the series, it can take me awhile before deciding on buying something. I didn't even get the Yuya plush doll until last year just because I wasn't sure about when would be the best time to get it. This can backfire when certain items are already bought before I make up my mind, but I still enjoy looking through what I can potentially buy. And the excitement of getting a package filled with Arc V merchandise is still pretty great, so I'll probably get a few things in the not too distant future. I just wish that Konami made at least some of the official merchandise more easily accessible outside of Japan. That would help with this issue a lot.

In the past five years, I don't think I've gone a day without thinking about Arc V to some degree or at least seeing reminders of the series around me. Weather it's from the displays I have in my house, my desktop, searching through the tags, finding more merchandise to possibly buy or rewatching the series itself, it doesn't really take me long to think of Arc V. It's just one of those series that has such a strong presence for me because I love it so much. Thinking about the series or being reminded of it every day can make me feel happier too

1 - Why did you choose your url? my first url was lavender-fog, but i didn't vibe with that one anymore, then i changed it to this one because 1) it's bucky and 2) i'm quite into nature (god what an awful thing to say lmao) and a biota is like a living place of different species animals/plants, which i thought was kinda cool? like my blog is a place where different kinds of bucky's live, if that makes sense??

why did you choose your url?

one of my favorite artists is phoebe bridgers, and it’s a reference to a line in her song “smoke signals”: buried a hatchet / it’s coming up lavender. “to bury the hatchet” is an idiom that means “to make peace.” and “it’s coming up lavender” is a reference to the phrase “it’s coming up roses,” which means everything is perfect. i really liked the interpretation of this line on genius lyrics: the narrator has resolved a conflict, but not everything is perfect. the lavender represents a temporary peace. i really resonate with that line, as i feel that it reflects where i am at in my life at this moment!!

do you have any sideblogs?

yes!!! i made @a-deathbed-revolution (also a phoebe reference!) like a week ago bc i wanted somewhere to post more casually! :) i’m still figuring it out but it’s mainly me reblogging things that made me laugh and the occasional shitpost if i can’t resist.

2. Any side blogs? I've actually created one just last week but it's a mess and it's only to reblog non-Mando related stuff that I'm feral over.

3. How long have you been on Tumblr? Since early 2017. I had a different account for Supernatural fics that did pretty well but I fell out of that fandom and it's been dormant ever since. Decided to start fresh with this one.

I actually created this with no intentions of writing fics—I thought I was over that part of my life—but then I started reading Sight Unseen by @omgreally and followed her over on here for updates and stuff. ☠ What does someone have to do for an instant unfollow from you?

Write incest, selfcest (with a duplicate),and/or underage smut. And I have nothing against duplicates, but people who interact with duplicates… sometimes it makes me feel like I’m a substitute muse. Especially if shipping is involved. Or a mun constantly changing muses and urls without warning, because then it’s literally impossible to keep treads or anything going.

♥ What’s the WORST thing that has happened to you rp wise?

Ooooh boy. This is… going to get long.

There’s two things that are the worst thing that’s happened to me RP wise.

The first happened when I first moved Chris over to a main blog (he started out as a sideblog) and I had a Charmed OC mun approach me about maybe setting up a s6/Unchanged Future plot and ship between Chris and their male OC where their OC had unrequited feelings for Chris. Only… they would keep changing urls on me without warning or would sometimes switch muses on me in the same thread. I once suggested OOC when they asked for help about making a multimuse or sideblogs if they were so indecisive about their muses/urls, but they shot those ideas down, saying they didn’t like either one of them. Well, then… sorry, but that’s the only ideas I could think of and why ask for help if you’re not going to take it? I eventually just got tired and fed up with all the muse/url switching, since it made it impossible to develop anything with the plot they wanted, let alone just keep a thread going, and quietly unfollowed. Not long after I unfollowed, they IM’d me asking why I’d unfollowed them and then would message me again at least two more times in the following months asking to reconnect and they missed writing with me. I finally replied back in private and asked them not to contact me again (and explaining that all the constant switching annoyed me and made it incredibly difficult to roleplay anything) as well as blocking their then-current url … only for them to message me yet again with a new url saying they’d gotten my response and they weren’t going to bother me again. Like… yeah, I figured they’d gotten my response since I replied privately but like… don’t fucking keep messaging me when I’ve asked you to stop and blocked you.

The second….

This Shadowhunter mun first approached me about writing with my Chris, and at first we had a thread in my crossover verse. Then they decided that they wanted a closed verse between Chris and their muse and wanted to throw their muse into a ship with Chris. They also eventually came up with an AU where in the changed future Chris was kidnapped by demons and then rescued and raised by a Shadowhunter family when he was only a couple weeks old. They basically created this AU Chris who was so AU he was pretty much an OC, gave him a Shadowhunter name and chose the Shadowhunter family who would raise him, and… pretty much it was solely so this AU Chris could just be in a (forbidden) relationship with their muse, since the two were parabatai. In both this AU and the regular closed verse, it seemed like everything was turning to smut—and in the main closed verse I was having to write Chris OOC for the plot/ship to even work. They would also make comments OOC on how much Chris and their muse were getting it on, and... sorry, but since this verse was s6-based... no amount of fucking in the backroom of P3 would make Chris completely forget about his mission to save his brother from turning evil—I don’t care how good the sex supposedly is, and have I mentioned my Chris is greyasexual with a low sex drive??? Then I would see them writing on my dash with another Chris in what I thought was our closed verse, which… uh… to quote Chris, “Not cool!”.

I finally went OOC explaining that I was uncomfortable with the way things were progressing in our main plots, that I felt like I was having to write Chris OOC for it to even work, that I was not comfortable with the idea of not only witches having to take Shadowhunter runes in the main closed verse but of their muse being the only one to mark Chris with runes—and in the one “Morality Bites” AU thread we had, their muse had appointed himself as Chris’s guardian when Chris already had a Whitelighter without discussing it with me first and Chris is perfectly capable of taking care of himself and their muse isn’t his Whitelighter, thanks, so stop acting like it. I was also here to write Chris, not an OC with his faceclaim and powers. Even OOC, they would manage to turn everything to how their muse was affected. It got to the point where I just deleted the OC sideblog and all our threads (even before explaining everything to the other mun) and it honestly felt like Chris was basically just a NPC to them, especially considering they had a ship with a duplicate Chris in other verses and in what I had thought was our closed verse. I’d also originally signed up just to write with their one muse, since at first they were a single-muse blog, but eventually they became a multimuse blog even though their url, icon, and header were all related to their original muse.

And shortly after I messaged them explaining I was no longer comfortable, they never responded and then suddenly archived and moved blogs. I wonder why.

♦ What was a mildly annoying thing that has happened to you rp wise?

Like I mentioned earlier, a mun who said they wanted to ship with my Chris and their OC, only they kept changing URLs and muses on me (sometimes in the same thread) which made it impossible to develop anything. And they would give no warning.

There’s also muns who just want to throw their muse into a ship with Chris solely so they can use him for smut, despite the fact my Chris is greyasexual with a low sex drive. Muns constantly trying to turn every thread into smut without discussing it first also annoys tf outta me.

♢ Has anyone ever tried to steal your blog? Your headcanons? Icons? All that jazz

Not my blog exactly, no. But I’ve had personal/non-RP blogs reblog my headcanons or stuff I’ve done for dash games. So far no one’s tried to steal my icons. Yet. *knock on wood*

⚜ How many people do you not like?

Well, uh… let’s just say the Charmed reboot supporters/fandom has done nothing to make me like them or want to watch the reboot when it comes out. (That goes for the reboot cast/crew, too.)

☢ What fads/trends are you so over?

Using icons that are less that 100x100px and using font so small I can’t read anything. It’s even worse if it’s a container blog where the posts are so narrow and the font so tiny I can’t see or read jack.

❀ What has made you completely lose your chill?

There’s a couple of things, actually.

The first is reboot supporters instantly assuming that whoever does not want the reboot is racist or homophobic because the leads are Latina and Mel is a lesbian and saying stuff like “the whites are here” despite the fact that a) the majority of dislike from the reboot is actually coming from PoC and Latino/as as well as LGBT people themselves (so, how exactly do y’all want to explain that?) and b) the sisters being Latina is NOT why we do not want the reboot. We never wanted the reboot in the first place even before anything was announced about the cast. There were two previous attempts to reboot Charmed and the fandom did not want them then, either. (Not to mention that Macy, Maggie, and Mel don’t even look like sisters and one of the actresses is Mexican, another is Puerto Rican, and nobody knows for the third so she’s just “Hispanic”. Like… that’s not even remotely the same nationalities.) And pressuring those who are anti-reboot to “give the reboot a chance” and “it’s going to be good” is NOT going to make people want to watch the reboot, especially when people are being assholes about it and the trailer itself—that’s actually supposed to sell people on the show—looks so bad that someone actually asked “Is this fan-made?�� When someone is asking if the official trailer is fan-made… you’ve got a problem.

The second is seeing a lot of fanfic writers or other roleplayers giving Chris a fuck-ton of powers to make him more powerful or as powerful as his Twice-Blessed brother, often with the justification that Leo was an Elder when Chris was received and thus is somehow more powerful than Wyatt because of that. Um, no. Chris is still just a normal upper-level witch in the Warren line that happens to be half Whitelighter. He’s not a Charmed One; he’s not the Twice-Blessed. Wyatt was the first-born, so he’s already naturally more powerful than Chris (as was shown with Prue being stronger than her sisters); and then you add in the prophecy of the Twice-Blessed Child. There was no such prophecy concerning Chris. And besides, Elder is a rank, not another breed of Whitelighter. Leo did not change species when he became an Elder; he just got new lightning powers to go with that rank. Not only that, making Chris more powerful than Wyatt completely misses the point of their relationship, dismisses just how smart Chris is (hello, he’s the only person to knock Wyatt unconscious using just telekinesis) and how he uses his wits to survive when he doesn’t have powers, and completely misses the point of Chris having an inferiority complex towards his older brother.

Oh, and another thing: People seem determined to headcanon that Chris is somehow Prue’s son, often with Andy being his father. For starters, the timing doesn’t even add up. Andy was dead by the end of season 1; we have no idea if he actually became a Whitelighter. Prue died at the end of season 3—that was 1999 and 2001, respectively. Chris was canonically born in October 2004. Even for this theory to work, during season 2 there were zero signs of Prue being pregnant with Andy’s child, only her mentioning in an episode that maybe she would like to be a mom someday. Just because Chris’s personality is extremely similar to Prue’s does not mean he’s her son. You know who else his personality is like? Piper. His mother. Chris’s green eyes? He gets them from his father, Leo. Like… here’s an idea: Instead of Chris being Prue’s son, he’s her reincarnation while still having Piper and Leo has his parents.

✿ What do you think about public call out posts?

Eh… I think they can be necessary if someone is warning other RPers about an extremely toxic roleplayer just so others can be on their guard, but most of the time they’re just way too easy to spread negativity and are about the most trivial things and are often an excuse for people to send hate. Not to mention people on this site have almost an aversion to fact-checking, or the call-out post will be over something that was said or done years ago. Like, gods forbid people change their opinions on something.

I mean, I have seen call-out posts used in the way they are supposed to be used, but more often than not they’re just an easy way to spread negativity and convince your followers to jump on the hate bandwagon toward whoever is being called out.

✂ A fandom that you feel isn’t open and accepting?

The Doctor Who fandom. I wrote in there for three years and everything is either RTD era vs. Moffat era if you’re a New Who writer or Classic Who vs. New Who vs. Expanded Universe. Even with mostly getting into the Expanded Universe part of the fandom (which was a lot more welcoming), since I was writing a dark AU version of the Tenth Doctor… I would have to deal with people coming into my inbox trying to tear my muse’s canon counterpart to shreds and… um… no, thank you. I archived and moved blogs at the tail end of last year, but I still don’t feel comfortable going onto the new dash.

✦ Thoughts on duplicates following you?

Ehhh… I don’t know? I do have a couple duplicates following me, but we never interact IC and for the most part occasionally chime in OOC on meta posts about Chris.

That being said, there’s a couple duplicates I would never ever want to interact with or want following me.

❥ Has someone ever ruined an FC or character for you?

Not someone specifically, really, but moreso the general fandom. Thanks to all the stans and the shippers, I really don’t like Stiles Stilinski (Teen Wolf) and Castiel (Supernatural). (Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still write with a Stiles, but... the general fandom is just um... no. Like, thanks for sidelining Scott McCall, the titular Teen Wolf, in his own show for your pasty snarky white boy fave and entirely fanon ship that was never going to be canon ever in the first place.)

I’m also just tired of seeing Dylan O’Brien used as a FC for OCs and fancasts/recasts—I’ve actually seen people using him as a recast FC for Chris Halliwell and like… WHY?! Nothing about O’Brien fits Chris?? He looks nothing like Drew Fuller or Holly Marie Combs and Brian Krause.Actually, him and the cast for both Teen Wolf and The Vampire Diaries just seem really overused for FCs. (There was also a Wyatt Halliwell blog a while back that had Dylan O’Brien as their FC for Wyatt and… that makes even less sense than recasting him as Chris.)

♒ Thoughts on the fandom you’re currently rping in?

I love it. The Charmed RP fandom was so small when I first started and now there’s all these new blogs popping up. There’s also so much less drama than any of the other fandoms I’ve rped in.

That being said… the RP fandom is great, the general fandom is ok, and the reboot fandom is… um… yikes. Like… I’m open to roleplaying with reboot-based blogs, but I’m going to be very selective with the reboot blogs I do choose to interact with, given the fandom has done nothing to make me like them or the characters and the show pretty much erases both of my muses (Chris and Billie) from existence.
