hiiii i remember seeing u on ao3 and i wanted to request!! can u do a sakuya and reader (gn) comfort where sakuya comforts the reader after a bad bad day? i love your works!
Yaaay it’s best boy!!! This took a LOT longer than expected, but this is probably the Sakuya fic I’m the most proud of, so I hope you enjoy it!(also can I just say that I’m a huge fan of yours lol your fics are so good!!)(I know that this fic starts a little bumpy but it gets better I promise)
When Sakuya entered his room with an “I’m home!”, he was a little terrified to see nothing but an arm sticking out of his bed over the ladder, letting out a small squeak of fear.
“It’s just me.” You groaned out, flipping the covers off of yourself to Sakuya’s relief.
After giving him a moment to process what had just happened, he finally asked what you were doing in his room.
“…tired.” You responded bluntly.
“…and I wanted to see you.” You added in a murmur.
“What was that last part?”
“Huh? ‘S nothing.”
“Okay,” Sakuya replied, realizing that he probably wouldn’t get much of a response out of you when you were like this.
“Did you have a hard day?” He asked gently, not wanting to provoke you.
“Mm.”
“Well, good job on making it through!”
“Thanks.” You responded monotonously.
Sakuya frowned a bit, noticing your unwillingness to hold a conversation.
Was it really that bad?
So, after setting his things down, he clambered up the ladder to his bed to lie beside you.
“Is it okay if I, ugh, squeeze in here?” Sakuya asked, trying his best to maneuver around your limp body.
“Mhm,” was, again, all you could muster as you rolled over to give him some space on the bed.
You both finally settled down in the cramped loft bed, your bodies having to be squished against each other to fit. Finally, Saku managed to give you a few centimeters of room so as to(hopefully) not invade on your personal space.
Although, despite his desire to respect your boundaries, there was one thing he wanted.
“Is it alright if I hold your hand?”
You didn’t even make a sound this time, instead opting to offer him your hand.
Sakuya’s eyes softened as he took it, lightly grazing over it before slowly lacing his fingers between yours, savoring the simple contact.
Although despite his actions being very kind and almost prince-like, the blush on his face was unmistakable. And admittedly, you couldn’t help but find him cute, even given your current mental state.
Sakuya allowed himself to bask in your touch, using both of his hands to cover yours entirely, toy with your fingers, and enjoy the small amount of contact he allowed himself to have with you.
“Do you want to tell me what happened? I’m fine with listening.”
“Mm-mm.” You simply replied, briefly shaking your head.
“Okay. Is there anything I can do for you? Oh!” Sakuya quickly perked up, releasing his hold on your hand.
“Actually, could you wait here for a sec? I’ll be right back, I promise!”
And with that, he scrambled down the ladder and ran out of the room, leaving you to wonder what he was up to.
But, as promised, he quickly returned, a pile of snacks and drinks in his hands.
“I’m back! And I brought some snacks! I know this sounds kinda stupid, but whenever I’m in a bad mood, sometimes eating something can help. Do you wanna come down here and try it?”
Once more, you didn’t give a verbal response as you climbed down the bed’s ladder, then plopped yourself on the floor underneath Sakuya’s bed, earning a giggle from him.
“You don’t have to stay on my side of the room, you know. I’m sure Citron won’t mind if we use his table for a little bit.” Sakuya reassured you, extending his hand to help you up.
You took it, letting out a small grumble as you allowed him to lead you to the low table on Citron’s side of the room.
The two of you sat side-by-side on the cushions, Sakuya crossing his legs while you left yours outstretched in front of you.
Sakuya laid his rations out on the table, sorting through them to figure out which one you would probably want the most right now. Finally, he decided on a bag of gummy worms, tearing open the package to grab a handful to pop into his mouth.
“Do you want some?” Sakuya offered, finally turning to you.
At this point, your body had become a limp mess, with your upper body splayed across the table, arms outstretched, with your head lying on top of them.
“Ah.” You opened your mouth, showing that you had no energy left to even grab the food.
Sakuya blinked a bit at your response, but ended up putting a worm in your mouth, and after seeing you successfully eat it, he breathed a sigh of relief.
“…at least you’re eating. Good job!” He praised, stroking your head as he held out another piece of candy.
You ate it once more, and the cycle continued until the both of had emptied the bag.
“Well, how do you feel after eating something?” He asked, hoping for a good response.
“A little better.” Sakuya grinned at this.
“That’s good! And you’re sitting mostly upright now, so that’s good too! You evolved from being a blob!”
“Who taught you that.”
“Itaru!”
“Not surprised.”
“But still,” Sakuya continued, “you’re feeling a bit better, so is it okay if you give me your face for a sec?”
“My face?”
Sakuya nodded, his sweet grin almost starting to glow. He was going to fluster you with his cuteness, wasn’t he?
“‘Kay.” You replied flatly, allowing him to cup your chin in his hands, picking it up from where it rested on your hand. Then, with no warning, he lowered it to his lips and kissed your forehead.
“I didn’t know if you’d be up to me doing this earlier,” Sakuya started, his voice low, “but I’m glad you’re okay with this. I’m sorry you had such a hard day, and if there’s anything I can do to make it better, just let me know, okay?”
Your eyes filled with tears as the only thing you could respond with was once more reduced to “mm.”
The air had somehow become so much lighter around the two of you as you let the softness linger for a bit.
You let yourself melt into Sakuya’s touch. It was a bit surprising to have him present himself like this to you, as someone who could comfort you and keep you safe, although it was refreshing in a way.
Apparently, Sakuya noticed the way your body relaxed in his hold and smiled gently.
“You know, it would be a good idea for you to get some sleep, even if it’s a little early, especially after the day you had.” Sakuya murmured calmly.
“But what about-“
“When Citron gets home I’ll make sure he stays quiet, and if anything happens with the troupe, I’m sure Izumi can handle it.”
“…okay.” You sighed, trusting him to take care of the situation.
“Good. Do you just wanna sleep right here?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay.”
With that, you curled up next to Sakuya, resting your head in his lap, which immediately earned you a bright red sunshine boy.
Thankfully, however, he knew that if he freaked out right then and there, he’d probably disturb the peaceful space he created for you, so he opted to stay quiet and play with your hair instead and draping his free arm over your body.
You closed your eyes, relaxing once more into Sakuya’s gentle touch. When he wanted to be, he was such a calm and reassuring presence, which allowed you to safely fall asleep in his arms.
Once your breathing steadied out, Sakuya checked your face to see if you were asleep.
“Hehe. There we go.” He muttered under his breath.
“There’s no way I’ll get them up to bed though, so I guess I’m trapped for the night, huh?” He whispered, brushing some strands of hair out of your face.
“Guess it won’t be bad, though.” He smiled.
“Good night. Let’s hope tomorrow’s better, okay?”
