My name is Farhiya Ahmed and I am in my thrid year of Environmental Management.

I never really understood my relationship with nature until I moved from my home country. Growing up, it was something I took for granted. My backyard was my go-to whenever I felt off or overwhelmed, but I didn’t realize how much it meant to me until I no longer had it. The transition to a new country was a big shift, and losing my safe space made it even harder. But, in a strange way, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise 🌱.

In Canada, my connection to nature has grown in ways I never thought possible. Back home, nature was about comfort—familiar spaces like my backyard or local parks. Here, it’s something completely different. Nature is vast, wild, and unpredictable. It’s not just a place to escape; it’s a place that pushes me out of my comfort zone and shows me new sides of myself I didn’t know were there. I never considered myself an adventurous person, but now, I’m excited to get out there and explore.

The person who helped me on this journey is my cousin Hanan. She’s lived in Canada her whole life, and when I told her I wanted to reconnect with nature here, she was all in. We begun with hikes, and let me tell you, our first one was an experience! Hanan swore it was an easy trail, but I managed to find the one spot of mud on the entire path and got my shoe completely stuck 😂. There I was, hopping around with one muddy sock, while Hanan was trying (and failing) not to laugh. We eventually got the shoe out (though it was never the same), and that day was full of little challenges like that. It was exhausting, but honestly? I loved every second of it. It was the first time I realized that nature wasn’t just calm and peaceful; it could be messy and unpredictable, but that’s what makes it so rewarding.

That’s when I started to develop what our textbook calls “a sense of place.” For me, it used to be my backyard—a small, safe space where I could retreat from the world. But now, I’m learning that nature is more than just a place of refuge. It’s a place of growth, where I can challenge myself, get a little lost (sometimes literally 😅), and come out the other side stronger. Every hike, every new trail I explore, makes me feel more connected to the world around me, and it’s an incredible feeling.

Nature is now something that challenges me, surprises me, and even teaches me. Instead of simply finding peace in familiar surroundings, I’ve learned to find peace in the unknown. This new relationship has made me more adventurous and more appreciative of the world around me. It's an evolving journey, and thanks to Hanan, I’ve come to see nature not only as a refuge but also as a source of personal growth.

And honestly, I can’t wait to share even more of these experiences with you through this blog! 🌍 I’ve got so many stories to tell, some of them are funny (like the time I nearly face-planted trying to cross a creek on a slippery log 😬), others are just filled with the beauty of nature that I want everyone to see. There’s something magical about being out in nature, even when things don’t go as planned. Sometimes, those moments are the best ones.

I feel like an idiot for missing Vaegon, Maera’s grandfather no less. I thought he was there to show Maera’s Targaryen lineage in the beginning 😬

But it’s interesting to see him back at court, of all people. Given his brief characterization and backstory, I’d have assumed he was not one to stay in the capital because he was too busy in pursuit of knowledge or perfecting his craft. Like a ravenclaw. Still, I’m excited to learn more about him and his motivations for returning. Ever since Viserys became king, I felt like the Targaryen line sort of narrowed into the contenders for the throne. I mean it is their story but something about Vaegon being there is a nice reminder that the Targaryens fighting now (including the dragonseeds) aren’t the last Targeryens left. It also made me realize how delicate Targaryens’ health were seeing as of the 13 children, only Vaegon is alive that we know of. I mean, Saera could be 👀

Here’s a thought, would he balance out Larys? I feel like for all his disinterest in courtly life, he could have the makings of a politician.

Oh!! And Maera’s brothers! It seems distaste for House Butterwell is a shared trait. Jokes aside, I love how even though Maera is queen, they’re still protective of her and are ready to whoop Aemond’s ass. King of the seven kingdoms who? Also, I love Faran’s enraged of “what kind of husband is that?” Because honestly what should we call Aemond? I feel like the next time they encounter Aemond it will be with a touch of frostiness.

Speaking of what would happen next, this recent development makes me want to comb through the chapters one by one. Now that we know it’s not just for background. 😂 and we’ve come full circle.

Are we going to get a small council scene? 👀

I’m telling y’all right now, I never put something in for nothing 🤣 character getting mentioned a lot? Prophecies being uttered? Flowers, painting, colours, scenery? All meanings behind it. Thank you to my English Literature A-Level, and to my teacher Ms Stafford, who taught me EVERYTHING MEANS SOMETHING when analysing books 🙈

We’ll get to know Vaegon a bit more, but it won’t be super central to the story. More like getting a bit of closure. And in terms of Vaegons siblings, some are alive but barely, we’ll explore in the future. Again it won’t be super central to the story.

Faran and Luthor are the type of brothers who are like “no one can pick on our sister but us. Try and we will end you.” Thank god Faran is sticking around.

Yes we’ll get a small council scene. God I’m having a look at my timeline and I feel like I’ll be writing this forever! Feel sorry for anyone who is just starting to read it now 🤦🏻‍♀️

Okay you guys have been asking how the date went.

I realized I didn’t mention this in my earlier post but he’s a white dude with long hair but the sides are trimmed .

We met up on campus so we could head to the library together.

Picking out an outfit and doing my hair for this was hell😭😭

But if you must know😌 I settled for a pink long sleeve crop top and a short cute denim skirt and my pink platform slides😌😌

I slicked my hair back into a bun (if I had braids in this would’ve been so much easier😭)

But Yh that was my outfit.

When I got there we had already agreed to meet at the campus cafe so Yh.

My heart was practically in my ass y’all😭😭😭😭 I was so nervous ffs🤦🏿‍♀️

He was wearing a regular T-shirt and some jeans and a fucking silver chain🧍🏿‍♀️

I had to cross the road to get to the cafe and while I was crossing I realized he didn’t see me cuz he was looking down at his phone and I was like That’s fucking cute😭😭

When I saw the car yall I literally stopped walking💀💀 I was like

Which he laughed at💀 and told me his parents work in finance or smt like that so he got it for his 16th birthday🧍🏿‍♀️

Anyways while driving we talked about a looooooott

So we get to the library and by this time I’m a fidgety mess. Also giddy

The library is literally my favourite place in the whole entire world guys😭😭

So I practically jump out the car the minute he parks and I didn’t realize it immediately but he was smiling at me 🥹

Then proceeds to tease me about how he’s never seen anyone this excited to go into a library.

We have a playful argument with me basically telling him that libraries are bomb af and him telling me they’re not.

Anyways he picked up nothing…which I found absolutely hilarious 😂😂😂😂

I picked up about 4 different books and be judged me for every single one💀

So as heading up to the cashier he pulls me back and takes the books from me and he looks at me and he’s like

“I’m paying for everything today”

Now the way I grew up I have a very hard time accepting when somebody pay for stuff for me especially men so I immediately refused allowing him to do that but he gave me silent treatment and paid for them anyways 🧍🏿‍♀️. (We still argue over text about that…even though he says when I’m with him I shouldn’t even think of paying for anything)

We head back out to the car and he asks me what I want to eat and I explain to him that I’m trying to space out my meals so that I don’t over eat😬(been going through episodes past of recently with my body image)

And he asks me when was the last time I ate and I was like “8 this morning”

Y’all the way he looked at me😟😭

And practically commanded me to get in the car

“We’re getting you something to eat”

I said nothing bcz well…I was hungry😭😭😭💀💀💀

So we had quite a drive to get some Chinese and we ate in the car .

As I’m eating he starts telling me about himself and I learnt a lot🥹

I was having so much fun y’all.

And I told him that.

And he was like “me too I want to do this again with you”

And I was like sure but you have to pick the next date

(He wants to see a movie on Valentine’s Day)

We talk some more and eventually the topic of ex’s come up and I explained that I had never had a bf before🧍🏿‍♀️(I grew up with strict parents yall😭)

And he was like “good cuz I want you to be my girlfriend and I don’t feel like sharing you with anyone”

“Girlfriend? When did we come to that conclusion?”

Basically tells me five minutes into the date he ‘solidified’ the thought.

We talked some more after that and eventually it was time to conclude the date.

I have never felt worse in my life about being right about something 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

but ajdksk AHHH. I’m never going to get over how you write all these characters!! I LOVE sokka and zuko, as always, especially them touching foreheads right in the middle of the camp 😭 and i LOVE how katara and zuko interact, holy shit. that convo they had in the last chapter?? i LOST IT. I loved it! back then, but since then I changed my ‘views’ you know ? And my liking of certain types of shows. Like if I watch it now… I think I’ll somewhat like it but really I will see just the negatives. I guess it really is about the production of it all (BUT not JUST that obviously. Not everything is bc of ONE man). And I know I’m probably THE ONLY ONE on this but, I get tired of seeing the same pairings over and over and over again. Like Fluke and Ohm, or Boun and Prem. Like it’s kind of always the same… atmosphere to the ships. To be clear, I didn’t see Win and Team in Even Sun, but they kind of have the same… monotony, and same with Ohm and Fluke. The more they have a series together, the less I feel it.

And I only feel that with that studio I realized. Bc I like Jimmy and Tommy, they acted with different vibes in remember 15. And also Off and Gun bdhcnd NOT ME! Need I say more haha.

for me wabisabi is just kind of a homogenous soup of cringe lol idk. uwma was good and everything that came afterwards wasn't. Their shows are all the same at this point and as long as New is directing them, it will stay that way lol. Not a fan of his directing style at all, which worked back in 2018 but not in 2022. The only reason I liked star and sky was the cast + plot but it definitely could've been better with a different director. But that's just my opinion.  

The issue with them recycling their actors and giving them the same roles over and over again definitely goes hand in hand with that. Now I know gmmtv kind of does the same but the difference is they have a much bigger range of shows and actors so you can't compare the two imo. BounPrem definitely have that monotony issue you mentioned, more than OhmFluke. Fluke has a big range and is doing well, Ohm not as much lol. But for me, they still work better than BP overall. Like Even Sun was weird enough to be funny but BP were the same in that too. Comparing them with mii2 and offgun is a lost battle because they're polar opposites lol.

And I agree, my views and preferences on shows have changed over time too. I think that's normal. In 2018 I thought LBC was high cinema which......no comment lmao. And I still consider uwma good today but definitely not as much as back then. I guess the more shows come out, the more picky we get which is fine.

But yeah all in all I don't think I'll ever watch a wabsabi production again unless they change their concepts lol. I'll take a look at between us because who knows, but if that sucks then bye bye. There are shows out there that deserve more attention than them. 😬

is it weird for me to say it's adorable how much you had to say about Faith In the Future? i love rambling about the albums i love so it's to see someone else doing it too 😂🫶 and even though there isn't a bad song on the album, all of your choices were fantastic!! i also really connected with the album but for me Silver Tongues and Holding On to Heartache were my two favorite songs (not that you asked lol)

okay...i'm going to cheat a little because i can't pick just one. my two favorite songs on Heartbreak Weather are Put a Little Love On Me because and Everywhere. i love a good angsty song and Everywhere is one of those songs i can listen to on loop for hours and not get bored. i also have to give a shout out to Cross Your Mind because...looking back, it's not great that i connected it with for the reasons that i did, but it was super relevant to where i was/what i was going through at the time that the album came out and it was kind of a weird comfort song for me during that time. the same thing goes for Bend the Rules, which i can't believe i forgot to mention first. it's the same type of thing as Cross Your Mind, where i really connected to it because it described the situation i was in almost too perfectly and it was a comfort song for me lol. i didn't immediately connect with Arms of a Stranger on such a personal level (although i did still love the song from the very start) but it ended up being the perfect song for where i ended up after the situation that had me relating a little two hard to the previous two songs finally ended 😂 so that ended up becoming a personal favorite a few months after the album dropped. anyway now i'm the one rambling so i'll stop before i list the album's entire track list. you asked me to give you one song on the album to listen to but i can't pick just one, sooo...my recommendation is to pick any one of the songs i just listed because you really cannot go wrong with that album in my humble opinion.
