I think everyone agrees that, if Kilgarrah didn't tell Merlin that Mordred and Morgana were evil the series could've been a lot more happier and peaceful?
Like, if Merlin taught Morgana about the good and bad things about magic and to use it for good, so the two of them could be like 🌟magic bros🌟, maybe she could've been a little cinnamon roll like in series 1 with Merlin and agh I wanna cry.
And if Merlin hadn't been an ass to Mordred and helped him with his gf, he wouldn't try to kill Arthur, I think.
In conclusion, Kilgarrah I love you but also hate you a lOt
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

The Century War of Wyverns, Prologue, Part 2
Cris: We're actually getting into France this time, we swear.
Jeanne: I don't think there's anything CW worthy this time, though there are a few things that come up rather obliquely.
Kat: Anything in one of our colors is coming from us, and anything in the <pointy brackets> isn't being said out loud! Roll tape!
(The previous part's over here if you missed it.)
(Now the next part's here!)
I woke with a start, my sheets drenched in a cold sweat. Suddenly, there were three sharp knocks on our door. I peeled myself out from the covers and felt my way over to the door. It rose at the push of a button.
Mash: Senpai, please hurry up, we’re going to be late fo- um…
Agh, we’re gonna be late!? I rushed over to the dresser and threw on one of the uniforms. A little bit of hair brushie, and… done! I ran out the door, grabbing Mash’s hand as we went past.
Mash: S-Senpai? Woah!
April (Kat): Come on, Mash, let’s go! You’re gonna be late too if you just stand there!
-------------
Dr. Roman looks so professional right now! Wow, we’re getting our first mission already!
Cris: <Jeez we woke up early. Where’s the fire?>
Jeanne: <Literally the entire history of mankind, Cris. Now can we please pay attention?>
Romani: -Once you rayshift into the singularity, you will have two main objectives. Objective one: Locate and eliminate any alterations to history. You don’t have to worry about stepping on any butterflies, history is a lot stronger than that, but if you see anything like what happened in Fuyuki- rogue servants summoned, monsters that should not exist at that time, and so on- it will be your job to eliminate the problem, and in doing so, fix the singularity.
Romani: Objective two is more theoretical, but based on our current data it is the most likely solution.- You must find and either retrieve or destroy the source of the singularity. As far as we know, there is only one object powerful enough to cause a disturbance of this magnitude- a Holy Grail.
April (Kat): Isn’t the Holy Grail like, one thing? How is it in seven singularities?
Romani: That’s right, you’re unfamiliar with the larger world of magic, aren’t you, April? Generally, a “Holy Grail” is more of a classification than a single artifact. They are any kind of immense mana battery, granting their wielder enough energy to perform otherwise impossible miracles. But the only time a mage will ever see a Holy Grail outside of the Age of Gods is at the end of a Holy Grail War. If they were distributed freely, it would cause no end of chaos.
Romani: Getting back on topic, once you are in the singularity, you should set up base on a leyline. Then we’ll be able to send you supplies and contact you more easily. You’ll also have to find or summon servants while you’re in the singularity. Every body we rayshift increases the difficulty of maintaining connection, so your rayshift team will be April, Mash, and Spartacus.
April (Cris): Spartacus is coming with us? Why not Artoria?
Romani: Because the load his rayshift puts on the system is less than the danger of letting him run around here without his master. The coffin is a very delicate device and having a servant who takes “please don’t touch that” as a challenge would make it very hard to do my job.
April (Cris): That’s fair.
April (Cris): …Wait, how safe are these things, exactly?
Romani: Under normal circumstances, I’d say they’re perfectly safe, but “normal circumstances” would require about ten times the staff we currently have available. I am the only person here with enough training to confirm your existence, but I swear as long as I’m here you won’t have to worry about a mistake on this end of things.
???: Ahem?
A very pretty woman standing behind Dr. Romani cleared her throat. She had shoulder-length brown hair and wore a short brown and red dress with blue socks and gloves. Her whole outfit had gold decorations, and- is that a robot bird? That’s so cool!
Romani: Oh right, I’m sorry. I’m the only human here that can confirm your existence while rayshifted. This is Chaldea’s second experimental summoning, also kno-
???: I am the great inventor, Leonardo Da Vinci! You may just call me Leonardo though. It is a pleasure to meet you. I’m usually busy in my workshop, but I am perfectly capable of taking over for Romani for short periods of time. I hope we work well together.
April (Jeanne): I hope so as well, it is good to meet you, Leonardo.
Da Vinky looked almost… shocked? At that? Weird.
April (Jeanne): Is something wrong?
Da Vinci: I’m sorry, it’s just that I’ve almost gotten used to the first words out of the mouths of people to be “Da Vinci? Isn’t he a man?”, or something to that effect.
April (Cris): We’ve already seen all of history get turned to ash and watched two female King Arthurs beat the crap out of each other. Finding out Da Vinci is a girl isn’t too much of a shock at this point.
Leonardo suddenly got very smug.
Da Vinci: Ohohohoho! An entirely new mistake! Who said anything about me being a man or a woman? A universal genius knows no boundaries! I merely made my spirit origin into the most beautiful form possible. Of course, I mean I copied my greatest work, the Mona Lisa!
Leonardo leaned onto her left arm and smiled faintly.
Da Vinci: So, what do you think? Is it a good likeness?
Several seconds passed.
April (Cris): They were just waiting for us to screw up, right?
Roman: Yeah, Da Vinci was in here for the last hour practicing that speech.
Da Vinci: Oh please Roman, it was only the last 45 minutes! If I had been in here for an hour, my ornith- Ah! I must get back to my lab, I’ll talk to you all after you’ve rayshifted!
With that, Da Vinci rushed out of the room.
Roman: Ha ha, she’s quite the character, but you can trust her. She seems rather flighty, but she can be incredibly focused when she needs to be. Now then, let the first mission of this grand order begin!
---------
Three coffins were prepared for our departure. We corralled Spartacus into his with minimal difficulty, but when I tried to step into mine, I just… couldn’t. What happened in Fuyuki stuck with me. The fire. The dead. What if-
Mash: Senpai?
April (Jeanne): H- Oh, sorry, Mash. I’m just… worried. What if something goes wrong, if we get stuck in the past, if we rayshift into a rock, or-
Mash: Senpai, you don’t have to worry.
April (Jeanne): What makes you say that?
Mash: Because the worst is already over. You were there for me, and now I’ll be there for you.
Mash held out her hand, and I took it. It felt warm. I let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding and sank into my coffin. We had to let go as the coffins closed, but I still felt calmer knowing she was next to us. And then a little bit worse knowing she hadn’t truly been saying that to me. And before I knew it, the coffin didn’t exist. We didn’t exist. An eternity passed in a single second, and then.
We were sitting in a field.

Magic, Monsters and Merthur - 1x02 - (Merthur)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right! This turned out way longer than both of the other posts. I’m sure you Merthur shippers will appreciate this.
I know I do.
The Merthur content in here is incredible!
No more rambling!
<_><_><_>
03:31
*snicker*
Cutie.
<_><_><_>
03:41
CASE IN POINT.
<_><_><_>
04:55
GWEN TOO. SHE’S AN ADORABLE CUTIE FOR HELPING MERLIN WITH THIS DUMB SHIT.
This particularly <3
And, as a bonus, she’s cute.
<_><_><_>
05:39
Hmm...
You sure about that sweetie?
(Also, yes, I am purposefully making the screencaps as awful as I can. I want my eyes bleeding out of my sockets by the end of season 1.)
<_><_><_>
10:08
Ah, the infamous line. What does it mean??? Does Arthur like Merlin now??? Arthur is still mean after laughing at Merlin’s joke!!!
Means nothing, I think. Merlin probably spoke what Arthur was thinking, or it was just so unexpected that Arthur could only reply with a chuckle, basically saying “Did you really just say that?” with a quirked eyebrow, raised in disbelief.
I mean, how many people do you think could openly say something “negative” about a knight? Not a knight, that’s for sure, let alone a servant, a peasant. And Arthur is still trying to adjust to having this… This curious thing as his personal servant, just as much as Merlin is trying to get adjusted to being pressed under a boot for the first time in his life.
And I think, judging by their conversation that I will mention later, that they both feel something similar for each other.
A certain trust.
And… Yeah, trying to keep the “I want to kill him” thoughts to a minimum.
<_><_><_>
19:10
First, it was “Good Luck”.
Then, it was a pat on the shoulder.
And it’s all only happening because Merlin realizes that Arthur gets extremely nervous before every fight.
That is someone who is stressed. Very much. On the brink of breaking down.
Merlin can’t address that, and he doesn’t. He just does these little gestures in hopes that Arthur will just take a deep breath when he remembers them and focuses on the fight with a calm mind.
And that’s just… That’s just so sweet.
Merlin was handling Arthur’s stress before the pratty prince even realized he was stressed.
<_><_><_>
21:40
Gaius acting surprised that just after he mentioned that if they had the antidote, they could have a chance of proving Valiant’s guilt, Merlin immediately got up and nearly ran out of the room – Gaius. Do you seriously not understand that Merlin loves getting into trouble?
<_><_><_>
“I don’t like the guy, but that doesn’t mean he’s cheating.”
“Gaius is preparing an antidote to the snake venom, when Ewan’s conscious, he’ll tell you what happened.
“If you fight Valiant in the final, he’ll use the shield, it’s the only way he can beat you.
“Look at it! Have you ever seen snakes like this in Camelot?”
***
“I wouldn’t lie to you.”
...
“I want you to swear to me what you’re telling me is true.”
“I swear it’s true.”
...
“Then I believe you.”
24:43
This is the convo I was referencing earlier. Just the fact that Arthur doesn’t deny the obvious proof Merlin has with him, but still is in denial because a knight using magic is unheard of, and just impossible in his mind, since knights are… valiant, but then Arthur asks Merlin to swear, like an equal to him knight would, to prove that they are not lying, he thinks of Merlin as honorable enough to understand the importance of swearing, even though he probably wouldn’t expect any other servant to. From the second episode Merlin is different from others in Arthur’s eyes.
And that’s not even taking into account the implications of this scene. Merlin comes to Arthur because he trusts that Arthur won’t dismiss him and throw him into the dungeons for badmouthing a knight, and will hear him out before giving a final verdict. None of the other knights would have even listened to him beyond “Valiant is using magic!”, they would have shut him down then and there. Arthur is different from others in Merlin’s eyes.
It’s episode 2 guys. It’s episode 2 and already we have scene like this!
How the hell can it go up from here?
It can go up and beyond what we know as gay.
I mean bisexual.
Or demisexual? I kind of liked that theory…
What we know as Merthur! There.
<_><_><_>
27:01
Like here!
Merlin whispers an important thing – not getting close to the shield – but Arthur hadn’t thought of that, so he lets himself be reminded of that by Merlin, when he could have told him to shut up instead.
IT’S EPISODE 2.
<_><_><_>
30:50
I know I’m missing the point of this scene, but…
This time?
Is he talking about…
I think Arthur’s talking about his armor.
Like… Yeah, it actually is quite important. If the armor’s not tightened properly, or it’s rusty, or if it’s not fixed/cleaned since the last day, then it’s a pretty big deal in a fight. It can cost one’s life, and Arthur’s putting his in Merlin’s hands with all of his duties.
This is why this episode breaks my heart – because Arthur truly had no reason to distrust Merlin or not believe what he’s saying, and Merlin had no reason not to share what’s going on with Arthur when they’re going on a dangerous journey. After this whole mess Arthur is far more dismissive of what Merlin says, especially since the boy doesn’t have nearly as much proof as he had this time. Yes, Valiant did prove to be using magic, and what Merlin said did come true, but I think Merlin himself is less keen on sharing his suspicions with Arthur or anyone else other than Gaius, if not to avoid this whole emotional mess, then to avoid the difficulty of explaining how he knows things and their legitimacy. No more just… walking up to Arthur and saying what’s happening, no more Arthur believing him.
It’s just… agh.
<_><_><_>
“[Valiant] will use the shield against you.”
“I know.”
“Then withdraw. You have to withdraw-”
“Don’t you understand? I can’t withdraw.”
***
“Valiant will kill you. If you fight, you die.”
“Then I die.”
36:01
God… Damn.
This is how every knight is, isn’t it? It’s better to die with honor than to live in shame.
A perfect tenant to live by to die before you’re 20.
Unless you have a secret warlock to protect you, then you’ll make it.
To 30.
<_><_><_>
36:38
Some people say that Merthur became canon in the second episode.
I just want to do my part and point out that this is how Arthur reacts when Merlin leaves after the prince shouted at him.
First time was right after that god-awful court session, the second after Arthur sadly admits that he can’t withdraw, and he must die before he disappoints his father.
<_><_><_>
44:19
I don’t think he is. I think he’s just repeating what Uther has ingrained into him – to only care about himself, and his own accomplishments, to never take the help of other people, because he doesn’t need other people, he alone can and will take on the world.
That’s not talk of someone who’s ashamed of being saved by a girl, but someone who thinks that they were capable of doing whatever it is by themselves. And because they didn’t, it turns to denying facts and just propping themselves up, focusing on what they did rather than what the their helper did.
He will never know that it wasn’t just Morgana who saved him that day, but also Merlin, Gaius too and even Gwen, but acknowledging that getting help from other people is a thing he did and understanding that without them he would be nothing is something he still struggles with until season 4 and a bit beyond, so let’s just…
Let’s just hate Uther for making Arthur so hard to deal with in the beginning.
And let’s praise the people around him for having the patience to live with him and the gall to call him out on his bullshit from time to time. Those people deserve a holiday, several of them.
<_><_><_>
44:37
Arthur approached Merlin to sneer about Morgana! Out of all the people in the ballroom, Arthur felt that he couldn’t talk about Morgana behind her back with anyone, except for Merlin.
How would a knight react? How about another noble? A servant?
Neither of them would either agree with him or tease him about it, which Merlin would do if only he didn’t feel slightly awkward that THE PRINCE FUCKING ARTHUR JUST WALKED UP TO HIM AND STARTED TALKING LIKE THEY WERE FRIENDS.
Heh…
Yeah.
Merthur was canon by episode 2.
AND THEN HE APOLOGIZES FOR TREATING MERLIN HARSHLY ONCE HE NOTICES THAT THE POOR BOY IS CONFUSED ABOUT WHY HE’S TALKING TO HIM.
SJGNOIUDRHNGIUJSRGUJNRDOIUNGVJKJNGRNIUERJNGUIHNJHBK
PRECIOUS BOYS.
<_><_><_>
45:25
I think Arthur just enjoys putting that look on Merlin’s face.
Don’t take that out of context.
<_><_><_>
The episode starts with Valiant getting his snakey shield, and murdering a guy. It ends with a feast in Arthur’s honor! Even though all he did was stab his sword into Valiant. Quite heroic. Uther approves.

Summary
- Oathday, 11th Gozran in the year 815 (Second Era). Early Summer.
- The party begin this session, around noon, in an underground prison / torture room. The party free the dozen or so prisoners there but are reluctant to let them go, as the ground level of the temple is still occupied with Kobolds. The party find a sack filled with a small quantity of coins and assorted gems, apparently the stolen property of the prisoners.
- The party instead make their way over to a large rectangular chamber, filled with black marsh water, as four massive stone pipes have a constant stream of water coming in. The party search the watery chamber, finding two large metal drains at the rear. Naillae discovers a Harper pin in the water and the party all begin slowly searching the waters. Labarett uses a ritual to locate magic coming from one of the large massive drain pipes, he tries to search the pipe but the water pressure pushes him away. Sir Krondor then tries and by sheer strength forces himself to stand in front of the pipe searching the inside. He finds a book and retrieves it. It is a spell book, completely undamaged by the water.
- The party decide to go back upstairs and clear the upper level, to allow the prisoners safe passage out. They make their way up the stairs and are immediately attacked in an ambush by waiting Kobolds. Ragnar tries to use his Spirit Guardians again but the Kobolds immediately recognise the threat and throw half a dozen spears at him, injuring him, and forcing him to lose concentration on maintaining his spell.
- Three of the kobolds run away, inviting the party to chase after them, which they do so. However, Naillae and Labarett both run into waiting Kobold traps, acid vials exploding around them. Still chasing the fleeing Kobolds, but more cautious this time, eventually the party kill all the foes.
- Moving forward, to clear the rest of the level, they find more traps, but the rest of the rooms are either empty or filled with rubbish. It would appear the Kobold tribe has left, taking what ever valuables they had with them, leaving behind a small force to delay the party. The party move forward into a large room, which the front double stone doors of the temple open into.
- A large T-shaped chamber houses a large statue of a five headed dragon made of black basalt, standing atop a raised plinth of alabaster. A small entry hall is lit by two torches.
- The party examine the room and statue. Trenchant finds a strange irregularity in the chain like engraving on the plinth and presses in the link. With a click a stone drawer opens up to reveal an old sack, so old the material is barely intact. Within the sack are ten white cloudy gems (worth 500 gp each), 5000 silver pieces, and 200 gold pieces.
- Confident that the ground level is now clear, the party return downstairs and inform the prisoners it is now safe to go. Varis hands over the sack containing all the stolen treasure from the prisoners, and they gratefully leave.
- The party now decide what to do, and how to breach the final double stone doors, that the two Dragonshield Kobolds ran through, and behind which the prisoners warned the party that red robed figures with bald tattooed heads frequent, and also that the party suspect where Throstulgrael’s lair waits.
- The party decide to rest an hour before proceeding. They do so and then prepare themselves for battle. Trenchant comes up with a bold plan, which though initially the party are reluctant to try, the Bard eventually persuades them to do it.
- The party block the two large drains in the adjacent watery chamber and soon the water levels begins to raise rapidly. In no time at all the large torture room begins filling with black water. Naillae and Varis prepare the hinges on the double stone doors to be loosen off. Then Ragnar, Naillae and Labarett stand atop one of the wooden tables like a raft. Gim uses his Ring Of Water Walking to stay dry. Sir Krondor dons the hood of his Cloak Of The Manta Ray, allowing him to swim and breath under water. Trenchant levitates above the waters, Varis uses his Ring Of Swimming to effortlessly float in the waters and ties himself to the bars near the doors.
- When the waters are well above head height, at a signal from Trenchant, both hinges on the door are removed and the force of the water starts to move the stone doors apart. The doors fall away but the water rushes in to a small antechamber with another set of stone doors. As the water rushes in, it lifts the bodies of two dead Dragonshield Kobolds, their skin and armour melted. Before the party can decide what this means, the other set of doors suddenly give way under the force of the water.
- In a sudden rush, the immense amount of black water from the torture room races out and into the next area. A large cavern filled with green, thick acidic vapours. As the waters race in, the current tries to pull all the party in the water with it, but they manage to avoid being sucked in. The two wooden tables lurched forward at a break neck pace, the tables tossing about with the waves. Naillae and Labarett can’t keep their balance and are thrown off the tables and smash into the stone door frame. Ragnar manages to stay on and surfs the table through the door way and into the small antechamber. Immediately the Arcane Ward there is set off, and a massive acid explosion fills the room, catching Ragnar. The dazed Cleric continues forward, riding the out of control table, as it races into the large cavern and begins to circle around at a crazy speed in a large circle. The rushing water is filling into a large circle tunnel, twenty feet across, and Ragnar realises that if he falls into the water it will drag him to a watery death.
- The rest of the party desperately try to avoid being dragged into the whirlpool, but Naillae begins to be dragged towards it, until Trenchant levitates himself over to her using the wall to guide himself. The Bard then casts Fly upon Naillae and she shoots up and out of the dangerous waters.
- Varis, still tied to the bars near the open door, takes careful aim and throws a small green owl figurine towards the spinning Ragnar before he gets dragged down into the whirlpool. Varis knows he has one shot and if he throws badly will knock Ragnar into the waters instead. Luckily the throw is good, and as the small green figurine nears Ragnar Varis shouts the command word. Instantly the figurine transforms into a Giant Owl. Ragnar leaps onto the winged beast and grabs on for dear life as the owl lifts him clear of the deadly waters. Ragnar begins coughing, and wincing from pain, from the acidic vapours in the room. The vapours appear to be coming from lit braziers around the room and are slowly eroding everything and everyone.
- From the far end of the cavern, around a corner, a large dark figure appears. The outline of massive wings is visible through the thick green vapours.
- A loud, deep voice booms out, “Tell me Raiders, why do you seek my death? Are you heroes, seeking fame, to be known as the killers of Throstulgrael? Or are you simply robbers, and you just wish to steal my wealth?”
- Ragnar, unsure replies, “A little from column A, a little from column B?”
- Gim shouts out, “Yeah, but mostly we want to help ourselves to ya gold ya bloody dragon!”
- The Dragon moves forward and looks at Gim, speaking, “How unfortunate then, for you have come too late. My wealth is all gone. Given to the Cult Of The Dragon Queen in payment for what I have always longed for.”
- Varis, an uneasy feeling coming to him, as he begins to put all the pieces together, shouts out, “And that would be what exactly?”
- Throstulgrael smiles, “Agh, but you shall find out soon enough.”
- Trenchant interrupts, yelling, “We are here to stop your attacks on innocent people!”
- Throstulgrael snaps angrily, “How hypocritical! Why do you get to decide who lives or dies! Why are your murders justified, in your pursuit of treasure and fame, where as mine or not!”
- The Dragon calms down and then continues, “Come, the time for talking is over. Now we will see who shall live and who shall die.”
- Battle starts with Throstugrael moving forward to get into a better position as the party try to seperate apart. The sight of the Dragon instantly has Sir Krondor and Trenchant cowering in fear, and soon Gim too is overcome by the magical Dragon Fear. Ragnar hangs onto the Giant Owl as Varis commands it back into the torture room. Labarett takes out the small silvery heart shaped box that contains the Hero’s Heart. He quickly places the small dried heart into his mouth and begins to think of worthy and righteous deeds. The spirit within the heart fills Labarett, judging him, and a voice fills his head, “You are worthy.” Blue light begins to swirl around the Barbarian as he carefully places the dried heart back into the silver box. Trenchant, begins singing songs of encouragement, giving Labarett Bardic Inspiration and helping Sir Krondor, Gim and himself eventually overcome the Dragon Fear.
- The Dragon moves into position and opens its jaws, a long stream of acid shooting forth and strikes Labarett, Gim, Ragnar and the Giant Owl. The Owl is instantly vaporised. Thanks to the Bardic Inspiration, Labarett manages to dive away and miss most of the acid but Gim and Ragnar take the full force, and are badly injured from the acid. Gim loses one hand axe, melted by the acid, and Ragnar’s shield is melting into a pool of useless metal.
- With most of the water now gone, vanished into the open hole in the cavern, the party are free to move about. Ragnar begins throwing spells at the Dragon, but most are doing little as the beast uses its Legendary Resistance to avoid the effects of his most powerful spells. Trenchant is taunting the Dragon with Vicious Mockery. Sir Krondor and Varis stand back at range, their bows firing at the Dragon. Sir Krondor uses his precious Barbed Arrows, firing again and again, sending three arrows at the beast for every one that Varis sends, but both are dealing equal damage. Varis, taking his time, and firing less arrows is aiming his shoots for dealing the most damage. Sir Krondor, bellows out a Rallying Cry, encouraging himself and Varis to shoot even more arrows into the Dragon.
- Naillae, now able to fly, is flying in and out of the battle. Trying to sneak towards the Dragon unaware, she flies about, lurching at the Dragon with her enchanted dagger and striking at vital areas in the Dragon’s body. During this time Naillae notices another section of the cavern around the corner, and a passageway with light coming from it. She is unable to see into the passageway as it is mostly covered with a thick tapestry.
- Gim, badly damaged, is staying out of range of the Dragon’s claw’s, massive teeth and swinging tail. Labarett, glowing blue from the spirit’s power within, runs towards the Dragon in a pure Rage. The Barbarian begins hacking into the Dragon with his enchanted longsword Anarchic flashing purple. The Dragon now focuses his attention on the Barbarian, and the two fight one on one.
- Throstulgrael pushes the fight, even though he appears badly wounded, and could escape at any time as he stands next to the large twenty foot wide hole, obviously the entrance he uses for his lair. The Dragon does not relent, even as his wounds become more and more grievous. Indeed, Throstulgrael appears to be relishing this encounter, embracing the attacks of the party, and never flinching away.
- With one final swing, Labarett swings his sword into the belly of the Dragon, opening up a large mortal wound. Labarett is covered in black Dragon blood, as the Barbarian continues to drive forward his sword.
- Throstulgrael begins to fall over sideways, one final word escaping his jaws as a sigh, “YES!”
- Varis lowers his bow, sweat on his face as the horrible realisation of what has happened hits him. In a low, horrified whisper, the Ranger speaks, “Gods protect us!”
<And as the party stand looking at the slain body of Throstugrael, that is the end of the session.>
