(no but the way the laptop froze and now I have to type it all again fml)
Anyway, I finally found some free time to reply, and I'm sorry for how long it took. I currently have two young and demanding puppies in the house, and they keep me both busy and tired.
Repeating what I said in my reply earlier: The reblog wasn't directed at you, but to some of the people that have a known history of being antagonistic and hostile towards anyone that is not from their clique. (My reactions to them aren't exactly better, in truth, and it's something I need to work on).
When I replied, I thought I had mentioned that the korolevaaverne blog was my main, but when I went back to look, I saw that it hadn't been the case. I could swear I had, tho, but it must have slipped my mind. Again, my mistake, and I apologize.
(also congrats on med school, and the schoolarship! Please don't take this as ironic because it really isn't, I'm just bad with tones)
With that being said, I first thought of the heat thing because of my mom. She has some chronic conditions, and has lived in the same area for years, yet sometimes, when the heat spikes, she gets so sick that she can't even get out of bed. She has already told me she would like to move away to a "tamer" region of Brazil so that she won't have to deal with it as often.
The reason I mentioned the Reach was mainly because is still warm enough, but the spikes of heat are certainly not be as extreme as Dorne's. My though was merely theorizing a place in which Elia would be less likely to be affected harshly by the weather. Also George mentioned in an interview somewhere that it rarely snows on the Reach, which would also help her avoid colder temperatures that she's unused to. (My mom def wouldn't go from Northeast Brazil to, let's say, Canada).
(break to feed the puppies **sighs** will this reply ever be finished?)
About the small folk bit; fair enough, although I can't help but look at all the farmers and workes I know that look older than they are due to always working under the sun. I guess it could also depend on which "type" of Dornishmen, considering that the stony dornish are paler than the other two, the salty are in the middle, and the sandy are the ones with darker skin.
The bacteria thing was more of a nod to a inner joke I have with some fandom friends, but I did confuse it a bit due to the fact that there is a flesh-eating bacteria. But indeed, it is an amoeba that eat brains (also amoeba is the name of a toy in portuguese and I can't for the life of me take the word seriously)
The tuberculosis comment was mostly about what happened to a neighbour of an aunt of mine who had TB (ironically he died of lung cancer) and would refuse to stay inside when it was raining, even tho it made him worse. In retrospect, it was the cold that came with the rain and not the rain itself, but alas.
Also I'm not surprised at Australia having the highest rate of skin cancer (nothing about Australia surprises me anymore) but the European nations were interesting to go dig around a bit. The fucking holes in the ozone layer, fellas, we should be more worried about that ngl.
(also I'm curious about the formal indian wear inside the teaching hospitals. I find it very interesting because when I studied veterinary, they would throw us out of the hospital if we weren't using scrubs. You definately looked way better than I did, however. lol)
Was thinking about an awful heat wave my city had in 2017 and started to wonder about how sheltered Elia's life must have been due to the harsh reality of living in a desert.
Long-term exposure to heat can exacerbate pre-existing chronic conditions. It can cause heat exhaustion, which can lead someone to feel faint or dizzy, feel nauseous and have muscle cramps.
If exposed to the sun for too long, there's always sun poisoning and the fact that UV radiation AFFECTS YOUR DNA????? BRO WHAT THE FUC--
The poor small folk of Dorne tho. I imagine skin cancer and just looking older (due to the sun damaging and aging the skin) is as common for them as frostbite is in the North :/
Also the Dornish nights are cold, considering it's a desert. I can see the winter nights in Dorne being particularly harsh (I wonder if they have fireplaces in the bedrooms for such occasions? Might brainstorm about it later), which wouldn't help Elia at all, considering the cold weakens your immune system.
If you think about it, the best region for her to live in was probably the Reach. It's warm, but not overly so, and the nights probably aren't cold.
Perhaps maybe even one of the castles on the Dornish mountains? Tho I'm not sure because it could be too cold, considering how altitudes work, realistically speaking. It is ASoIaF tho so you can never know how much they'll follow reality 🤣
#elia hated dorne#also I find it hilarious that we are all so disgusted by those j0nsas that no one wants to be associated with them lmao#again the first reblog was not about you and I should have been clearer about it :/#Oh well I hope this clears it up a bit#now I'm gonna sleep because it's midnight and the puppies finally passed out#editing to fix the tags because i just noticed they are a mess#that's what happens when you write stuff while nearly falling asleep lol#anyway it's just stupid how some people took from my post when it's not what I said at all lol#hateful people that twist words#not about you of course#you were very respectful
