Besides art, what other hobbies/interest do you have? For example, some of my interests include:

1. True crime (I’m actually learning to profile like how the FBI does in my free time, just more realistic than what you’d see on tv, it’s actually really easy to profile someone once you know what to look for too!)

2. Animals(especially snakes and sharks!)

3. The band Fall Out Boy (a lot of my friends wonder why I love them so much, they helped me through a tough time and their music just speaks to me)

I'm curious about a bunch of these so I'll just ask the bunch together:

Whose ur favorite bachelorette(s), non romanceable chara, monster, non-mc otp and a headcanon you have?

Oh boy this is gonna be a doozy of an answer lol

Fav bachelorette — I’m super gay for (most of) the guys, so honestly none of the bachelorettes appealed to me as marriage candidates. That said, I really identify with Lucy’s whole arc and feeling disproportionately responsible for my loved ones. I especially like when these characters actually get a chance to take care of themselves. Sure, I don’t exactly like the way RF5 goes about it (the forced truth mirror was kind of heavy handed and took away her agency…), but everything else was nice. My runner ups are Beatrice and Scarlett. Bea is just a sweetheart, I have nothing bad to say about her. As for Scarlett, well, I got attached to her because she became such an important supporting character in my fic. I didn’t intend for her to be the closest thing Ari has to a best friend, but she surprised me.

Fav non-romanceable character — Heinz, hands down. That goofball has a terrible first impression in-game and he’s really done dirty by only being characterized by his ineptitude and lazy attitude, but man, I’ve gotten so attached to him because of his role in my fic. I was really able to develop his backstory and personality into exactly what I wanted since there was so much room for reinterpretation. Before I started this fic, though, I probably would have said Terry or Misasagi. Both of them have good heads on their shoulders, and I like the mysteries they represent.

Fav monster — Chipsqueek! Those little red squirrels are the cutest dang thing on the planet. They’re kind of useless as a battle companion, but I like bringing them around with me just because anyway. Also, in every RF game I’ve played (Frontier, rf5, and currently rf3 special), I’ve named the first one I’ve caught Poppy.

Non-MC otp — I’m a multishipper, so I won’t say there’s only one way I like characters to be shipped. That said, I’m particularly fond of Cecil/Fuuka (thank you Aashi for selling me on them!) and Martin/Ryker. For other pairings, I think Lucy/Priscilla is cute, but I’d be really interested to see Priscilla/Reinhard (Priscilla gets to live out her princess dreams) and Lucy/Murakumo (competitive bleeding heart plus the expert judge of games). Outside my fic, I also love Lucas/Terry (courtesy of @kardia-library-official for introducing me to the idea).

A headcanon — oof I have so many at this point, it’s hard for me to remember what’s actually canon and what’s stuff I’ve dumped into all of its plot holes. I think a big one for worldbuilding is that I named the town that’s near Rigbarth (the one that Ryker goes to when he steals that crown). It’s called Fenarva, which is sort of a portmanteau based on the names of all of the other villages/towns of Norad. I imagine Fenarva is closer in size to a city, and it has ports for regular ships and airships. They get travelers from the mainland, Isle of Elves (this also needs a name), the Eastern Continent (gods please Marvelous give us an actual name for this country when Project Dragon is released), and Fenith Island. Most of the tourists who visit Rigbarth come from Fenarva, too, since it’s only about half a day’s trip to get from one town to the other (well, travel takes longer now because of the recent increase in monster attacks…). Rigbarth’s economy really relies on these folks and the people from the other side of the Gadeus Grasslands too (still need to put another town over there too). Also, for everybody else writing fics based on RF5, y’all are free to use Fenarva, too.

I have other, more interesting headcanons especially about gods in general and what sort of god Lucas is, but a lot of it gets into spoiler territory. Unfortunately for all of us, however, I have yet to figure out how to work in these things into my fic. It’ll come up eventually, somehow, but probably not until late Act II or somewhere in Act III. I hope y’all can bear with me until then.

So, the romance in Rune Factory 5 kind of sucks.

This is coming from someone who has made it a tradition to marry every single candidate in every game since RF2. Discovering new dialogue and new sides to each character is extremely fun and rewarding to me, so when I began playing RF5, I was excited for more of the excellent experience RF4 had to give when it came to romancing.

But... I'm so disappointed with what I've experienced , after 150 hours, that I can't be bothered to keep the tradition I've had for over a decade going.

I've played these games since I learned how to read. My playtime through the entire series is likely over a couple thousand hours. I grew up loving every single one of these games. That's why, to me, waiting 10 years for what ultimately ended up being a a buggy, unfinished-seeming game in my favorite series ever is something unbeliveable. I will start off with the marriage aspect as it was by far the biggest disappointment for me. The dialogue itself is broken. MARRIAGE: Right off the bat: I've married 10 out of the 12 marriage candidates, seen all their events, and completed the story. The married life aspect itself is glitchy. By that, I mean that Scarlett keeps spouting off romantic-only lines after I'm married to soneone else, the MC keeps asking when Murakumo's birthday is when we're married, Priscilla talks multiple times about how she wants to live with me and blushes about marriage when we're married... Scarlett talks about children as if they've been born even though they haven't, and somehow the MC insists on asking Cecil what he likes to eat when they've been married for over 6 years. Couple that with the fact that daily lines are no longer completely unique like in RF4 (where you could go over a year with no repeat lines from your spouse), and it becomes difficult to get the married lines to trigger. Murakumo refused to do so for TWO WEEKS, only going on and on about his birthday and Misa being scary over and over again. Over the three months of daily talks with him after marriage, I saw maybe less than 6 marriage-only lines. On the other hand, Cecil took a while to go back to his pre-marriage lines, almost as if he was coded to prioritize his married ones - or it was my luck, which brings up a whole other issue of the fact that the dialogue being randomized AND that low friendship lines are allowed to be triggered is not a very cool feature to have, especially when the RNG pulls a Murakumo on you, as described above. Rune Factory 3 for the Nintendo DS had daily unique lines for spouses, and that came out over a decade ago! Heck, Rune Factory *2* had that feature! Either something very wrong happened with the progamming of how and when lines are triggered, or this was a very weird purposeful decision by the developers. As for a minor complaints: - Spouses get changed into their normal clothing straight after waking up, meaning you don't get to wake up with them in their pajamas. That was something I enjoyed in RF4 - it gave off a sense of intimacy IMO. - You never move on from living at the SEED silo. You, your partner and your three kids live there forever, with Scarlett and Livia right under you, and there's not even a door to your room! - Some characters don't show up at all during the congrulating part of the wedding day - I noticed Beatrice and Reinhard rarely appeared. ROMANCE/DATING: Few of the dates and 'proposal' events were as good or as emotional as RF4's. Some felt very short and others were long, but something that I felt in almost all of them was that everything gets solved way too fast and conveniently. Like... there's no other choice but to do X! ...Actually, there is Y, it was just never referred to or foreshadowed before, happy end! Felt like there were tons of asspulls (not that there weren't any in RF4 - but it happened more often this time around). It was weird. It was also weird how the protagonist seemed to have the answer to everything straight away. It made it felt like the issues and challenges presented in these events weren't as important as they

should be. I would have liked it more if the MC had more doubts and conflicting emotions, and had to get advice from the other villagers/ go through a revelant experience/ learn more about the candidates' side of the story and past to come to these 'ideal' conclusions. Also, also! The bachelorettes' dates and marriage events were SO much better than the bachelors'! I felt like I learned much more about Ludmila in her event than I did during Lucas', and Beatrice's was much longer and more emotional than Reinhard's. Priscilla's was the best by FAR. What happened here...... The non-special dates were also disappointing, no more restaurant dates or buying gifts at the flower shop or general store :( - you go on a list of 4 locations and that's it, each one has your date say like 3 lines, and it's over... One other thing that felt off: marriage events can unlock straight away with no cooldown. So you go on 3 dates and suddenly they want to get married..... I know the random event unlocking thing from RF4 was disliked, but it made it the progressing of the relationship much more organic. This time, even if you don't want to see the event, tough luck - X's event starts as soon as you step a foot in the inn.... a week into your relationship. Now for the slight spoiler zone, my thoughts on every single one of the marriage events that I've seen, and some examples of the things I described above: Reinhard: I enjoyed the town's involvement, but it was anticlimatic and too short. MC just comes up with a solution right on the spot and that's it - there was SO much potential for a deeper look into Rein's past and his relationship with MC from that point on, but it was all kind of glossed over. It was nice, but the feeling that there was supposed to be more to it persisted. Cecil: This event was so damn weird and unsatisfying and just... Cecil ends up the exact same way he started. The unnamed NPC gets more development than him!! Murakumo: It was fine, but again, everything gets solved quickly and MC has a solution straight away. The town coming together to help was very cute and one of the few moments that made Rigbarth feel a bit like a community rather than a bunch of houses thrown around a landscape IMO. It was okay. Ryker: It was weird. At least the conflict didn't only require a simple pep talk this time around. I don't know what else to say other than I was hoping for more. Lucas: So disappointing. I was expecting much more angst and difficult decisions and stakes, what with the taboo of a God and a human being in a relationship, immortality, etc etc. I wanted to know more about Lucas being a God (what is a God in the RF universe anyway?), more involvement from his friends and loved ones, and so on. It all gets solved conveniently and it's anticlimatic, esp. how Livia goes 'you should get married btw' at the end. I was so disappointed the entire time and it was almost painful how much potential was wasted. Priscilla: The best one, by a long mile. Be it her dates or her marriage event, it was clear that much more thought and time was put into Priscilla's character and her romance than any of the bachelors'. I wish every one of the events were as good as hers, truly. It made me want to hurry and marry her! Scarlett: It was good! Touched right into many aspects of her character, had a nice resolution, the townspeople played a huge part in it, and overall it developed not only Scarlett but the people around her as well. One of my favorites for sure, close in quality to RF4's. Ludmila: It was cute, but could have been better - better pacing, better look into Ludmila's past and her race, etc etc. More involvement from the town and Ludmila's friends would have been nice as well. Beatrice: It was cheesy and a bit clichéd, yet much better than some of the bachelors'. In this event, MC has no trouble at all coming to terms with the fact that Beatrice has to leave - the potential for more emotional moments was right there... Finally, there were so many asspulls in this one

that I started to find it all funny instead of dramatic lol I don't think I'm going to do Lucy's and Martin's. I haven't enjoyed most of these events, and I doubt theirs will be any different. CONCLUSION: Lag and subpar graphics I can deal with - but the romance aspect itself being broken in this way is just sad. As for the rest of the game, I'm done with the plot and I cleared all the dungeons. With the absence of the Sharance Maze or even Dungeon Seeds, there's little reason for me to keep grinding for better equipment, and with no New Game+, I find little motivation in finishing the request board. I'm giving up on RF5 until either those issues are patched or new content is added, both which I doubt will happen considering none of it has been fixed in any of the patches for the Japanese version. Yeah. RIP.

i need to dump some rf5 thoughts but it may bee a spoiler for some so be careful if you click! (also don't @ me ik ive taken a while and still haven't beaten the game but ive been busy 😤)

i just know there is absolutely something fishy about Terry. im not saying he's a bad guy but there's something odd about how unlike the other townspeople, you don't really get to know him that much. and i do like him but he almost comes across as a little boring. a little too boring. and then when i watched through the second opening theme and saw this on the screen i just...I KNEW IT. he's totally got something to do with the main plot. also as soon as i met gideon the first time i knew that dude was going to be a bbeg 😔 like just from the haircut alone tbh alkencnandncndn i feel like him being placed next to Terry like that in the second opening is because those two are connected somehow......and now like i said i don't think Terry is evil but there is more to him than it seems. i also still don't know what beatrice and reinhardt are doing 🤔 deffo not bad people ofc (they're romance options so like i doubt rf would make them secretly evil but u know what it would be interesting in a future game possibly, like how Doug wasnt always on our side in rf4) im guessing the ending of the main game is going to be us fixing the rune spot thingies, gideon getting pissy and we kick his ass(possibly he somehow consumes a rune crystal? turns into a monster/dragon ethelberd style) and then bam life returns to normal. oh also we get our memories back and consider going back to our previous life but 😔 we like life in rigbarth too much and decide to stay (no idea if u can marry and have a kid before beating the game but i would assume so because every other game let you do that iirc but like u wouldn't want to just up and leave ur family like that lmao) that's a vague description of what i think is probably going to happen but i do hope there's more to it. as much as i love this game, the story line feels a tad bit short. that could also just be me, like since the days are longer in the game, a feature i don't care that much for personality, the seasons have been going by slower. if the seasons were going by at the same pace as previous games i think maybe the storyline wouldn't feel as short because i wouldn't be able to get as much done in one day.

Oh man, I have a few thoughts about Rune Factory 5. People have probably talked it to death but whatever. Minor spoilers??

- Im having a fun time playing it, it looks pretty cool and it feels like RF4

-Im in love with every character. Im only midway through spring and havent met everyone yet, but man i wanna smooch everyone

-I came im thinking id go for reinhard (who i just met and already has 3 hearts lol) but im really loving Martin and Murakumo. Cecil is great too but im having a hard time choosing who ill be going for first 😰 havent met lucas yet

-For the girls, Lucy and Beatrice are def my faves. Fuuka is a cutie. Priscilla is ok, shes nice. Yet to meet Scarlet. Also Misasagi is probably the only milf ill simp for

-RF5 is....really easy on normal mode. Im thinking of changing to hard mode, but maybe its because i just got done with thr second dungeon?

-The game is laggy. Sometimes i accidently destroy something because it didnt register, i clip through stuff, and itll slow down whenever i go from one area to another

-Oh, and there's loading screens for whenever you enter and exit a building or dungeon, but the wait isnt too long

-Maybe its just me, but the 3D messes with my perception, especially during the bean throwing competition:(

-They did include many amazing quality of life changes, like being able to switch between farm tools and weapons with one button

-If you try to catch a fish before it bites, it doesn't leave and you can try again

-Im so glad they show you where you need to go for events so Im not just walking around

-The map is a little big, so they provide places you can warp to via the map

-Have I mentioned how much i love Martin and Beatrice 🥰

just as i created this blog to talk about my rf5 musings, i started playing less for IRL reasons LOL -- but now that i’ve retaken it, i’d certainly like to talk more about it again!

 i might be talking about other games too, ie i downloaded dislyte..... n while i rly dig the aesthetics, i think i’m past the need of grindy games. mmorpgs still tempt me, i also got black desert online... but as soon as i go “wait, the endgame of this is gonna be repeating dungeons nonstop to improve my character, isn’t it”, my desire to play it disappears lol. someone certainly could tell me rf5 is that kind of game... improving skills, getting materials, the farming... however the plot and personal relationships make it rewarding enough to me. i don’t feel like i’m wasting my time.

anyway, let’s get to the point: i’m in the seaside lights festival rn. i think i’m keeping a save file there just so i don’t have to reset all the time on a row LOL, so far, i’ve watched eljse, cecil, martin, reinhardt, hina, lucy aaand murakumo i think!! i’m saving the best for last except eljse, whom i decided on a whim, and cecil, whom i adore even if it’s just for the lack of love he receives from the rest of the fandom. His bottle idea was really sweet, and i like that it’s connected to martin... don’t get me wrong, i don’t dislike martin, but definitely i feel like cecil is more attuned to his feelings and his surroundings and i can’t help but appreciate that.

from all of those eljse shocked me as really romantic for a non-romanceable character LOL, and reinhard was definitely the best - such a good vibe, and nice idea for drawing, too. tho i’m a diehard scarlett fan, i’ll keep a save file for reinhard, tho i might change names and gender wwww. i really want to ship him with beatrice too, but so far, beatrice doesn’t pique my interest as much.... she’s okay, i guess, but compared to some commentaries i’ve read about her on the internet, i still don’t see what’s the appeal. i guess i’m not yet in the interesting part.

i love rf4’s a home to all as well as autumn in selphia because they’re sweet-sounding tracks that capture the energy of the town to me :] i also really really love selphia plain it has the feeling of ADVENTURE and is also nostalgic!!!!!

settlement from rf3 has a lovely sound to it, as does town (dawn)!!! THE BOSS MUSIC & DRAGON CAVE ARE ALSO SO GOOD <3333 i looove rf2’s farm (winter) too, and trieste forest :> (linked is the arranged version because i think it’s really pretty <3)

honestly i have no idea!!! i like how martin looks but i also like lucy and beatrice.. and ryker just because of the butterfly motif :) we’ll see <3
