#almost made choso call you a nerd but decided against it

One cool evening, you sit outside, just enjoying the weather, stars, and crickets chirping. You hear the door next to your apartment open and hear Choso walk outside. He sees you and smiles a little.

“Hey.”

“Hey.” You look up at him.

“Mind if I join?”

“Not at all.”

Choso sits beside you and looks at the stars with you, your only audience the chorus of crickets in the grass and the stars in the sky overhead. 

“Nice night. Calm.”

“Mhm.” You hum in agreement.

“Summer’s starting to cool. Reminds me of when I was younger.”

“How so?”

“I have a lot of fun memories with this weather.”

You look at Choso, his expression nostalgic and soft.

“One time, when I was eight, I was learning how to skateboard. I fell so many times, I came home with bloody knees and my mom freaked out.” He laughs. “They took me to the store the next day to get knee pads and elbow pads. They forgot about the helmet for two days.”

You laugh, the sound making Choso’s heart warm. “How do you forget about helmets?”

“I dunno, my uncle was visiting though, so that was probably it.”

You smile to him. “So, you know how to skateboard?”

“Yeah, I could teach you, if you wanted. Hopefully it’s not as hard as roller skating was for you.” He teases and you laugh and roll your eyes.

“Hey, I got there! Eventually.”

“Yeah, eventually.”

“Okay, what’s something you’re not good at then?”

“Hmmm…” he hums and thinks for a moment. “I can’t bake very well. Cooking? I can do easy, but Yuji’s birthday cakes have been from our uncle and Uraume because I somehow mess up every cake I make.”

“Really? I can make his cakes and stuff, my mom used to yell at me for baking all the time.” You laugh.

“That’s sweet, maybe you should teach me.”

“Maybe I will.”

You both smile and you look back at the stars, leaning your head on his shoulder. He carefully wraps his arm around your shoulders and looks at the stars with you.

“Do you know any constellations?” He mumbles.

“Mhm, used to be a space-obsessed kid.”

“What’s all in the sky around this time?”

“Off the top of my head… Virgo, Sagittarius, and the dippers.”

“Wow, where’s the dippers?”

You point out the Little Dipper, then point out the Big Dipper. “They’re pretty easy to find.”

Choso hums in agreement and smiles as you yawn. “You should get some sleep.”

“Yeah, see you around?”

“Yeah.”

You walk back into your apartment and plop onto your bed, almost forgetting to plug in your phone before sleeping. Choso goes into his apartment as well, quietly shutting the door and locking it before going to bed.
