I talk to my mom just about everyday-and she’s always doing something different. This morning she shared her Friday night adventures of going to a reggae club, and an “after set” And I told her about how we hung laundry and watched #phineasandferb 😂 But my mom is an OT for real #originalthriver 😍 She somehow managed to give us childhood experiences of a lifetime when my father and her only had a #dimeandanickel. I learned to horseback ride, canoe, and row before I was 9 years old-all because she decided that the amount of money we had would not be a limitation on the life we would live. She will be 70 in a few months and she’s still making 12 tiered lemon cakes out of lemons. * * * * She took me out of middle school at several points and homeschooled me in a nontraditional way and everyone said “you’re setting her up for failure” but she refused to let me fail. She brought home every book she could find, got my uncle to give me an IBM computer and taught me how to teach myself. She help me understand that it I might not have everything I need, but I could always make it work. So she is at the center of establishing my mindset.
