Eyes on Me
“Our guest for today, Chris Evans!”
Ellen welcomed Chris into the studio. The audience’s warm applause made him break out in a big smile. He jogged the last few steps and gave Ellen a hug and a kiss on the cheek before sitting down.
“So, Chris...since this isn’t your first time on the show, let’s skip all the pleasantries.”
Chris laughed along with the audience his right hand resting on his chest.
“Sure, I’m cool with that.”
“Last week, a picture of you was taken and it went viral.”
“It did.” His eyebrows raising while nodding his head.
“Uh-huh. Short answer. Let’s see the picture then.”
The audience clapped when the picture was shown on the studio screen. It was a picture of Chris wearing a suit partnered with a baseball cap as if wearing it will disguise him completely. His left arm was wrapped around the shoulders of a young woman wearing a knee-length dress and wearing a matching Red Sox baseball cap. They were seated at the rear of an SUV while eating burgers.
“As you know, Chris, no one really cares about you in this. It’s her we’re all curious about.”
“I know. That’s the funny thing. Before, everyone will mention the suit or the beard. Now, no one cares anymore.”
Someone in the audience screamed that they still cared to the delight of everyone in the studio.
“Thanks, man. Nice to see I still have fans,” he joked.
“Chris, you need to focus here. This isn’t Marvel so you can’t use the excuse of secrecy anymore.”
“Okay, what do you wanna know?”
“Who is this pretty lady that you seem to be smitten about?”
“You know the answer to that already.” The audience was still very buzzed and excited to finally get an answer to the week-long Hollywood scoop.
“Yes, but we would still like to hear it from you.”
‘That lovely girl in the picture is Y/N and we’ve been together for a year.” The audience members were shrieking now that they finally got confirmation of the girl’s identity as well as shock from how long Chris managed to hide her from the press.
“Congratulations, now tell us more about this picture. That seems like an odd outfit to eat hamburgers in.”
“It is interesting. I’ll give you that.”
--- one week ago ---
“Chris, what if I mess up?” you sniffed and placed the phone between your right shoulder and ear, your hands shuffling through the papers that are giving you so much anxiety.
“Y/N, listen to me. You are great at this. You give better speeches than the President.”
“That’s not exactly a high bar, Evans.” Still, the compliment managed to bring a small smile to your lips.
“Well, babe. You know what I mean.” he sighed. “I wish I was there to watch and support you.”
“The press is going to be here, Chris. You can’t be seen supporting some random girl.”
“You’re not just a random girl. You’re my random girl,” he whined.
“I am your random girl. Don’t forget that when you flirt with all the pretty ladies at RDJ’s book launch.” You teased, knowing full well he only has eyes for you.
“I wouldn’t even dream of it. Babe, don’t forget to eat. I know you’re anxious but you practiced so much you can recite this in your sleep.”
“Thanks, Chris. I love you. I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“See you tomorrow. I love you more.” Knowing he won’t stop unless he gets to say he loves you even more, you just smiled and ended the call.
Tonight is the fundraising charity event for California high school students that excel in STEM. As the new head of Caltech’s Applied Physics Department, you are tasked to give the final speech about the importance of science in the modern world as well as the direction of the department in the next five years.
“Well, here goes nothing.”
You hear your voice being called and you stepped on stage. In front of you, hundreds of millionaire patrons that support education are watching your every move.
You went through your speech magnificently. You managed to pause at all the right times emphasizing the parts of your speech you wanted to highlight. You also managed to just occasionally glance at your notes. Stepping away from the podium amid the applause of all the guests put a smile on your face.
You reached for your phone and sent a thumbs-up emoji to Chris before mingling among the guests that are all excited to talk to you.
Your phone vibrated and a quick glance down showed a message from Chris.
Pick you up in 30? I got food.
Chris knows that you couldn’t eat when anxious and seeing him care this much made your heart skip a beat over how caring he is towards you.
See you.
You managed to speak to a couple more people before proceeding towards the hotel entrance waiting for his car to arrive.
“Taxi miss?” the doorman asked.
“No, I’m waiting for someone - oh, here he is.”
The doorman opened the passenger door for you, showing not even a hint of surprise when he saw who was driving the car that picked you up.
“I got burgers and fries in the back from your favorite place and it’s a full moon tonight so let’s go eat at the pier.”
“Did you just ran away from RDJ’s book launch?” you asked. Reaching for the fries, you popped a few into your mouth and then gave a couple to Chris.
“Nah. He kicked me out. Said I was too distracted and looking at my phone. He wants to meet you personally soon. They have a livestream of the event, by the way. You did phenomenally.”
When you arrived at the pier, he reached for the baseball caps in the dash and plopped one to each of your heads. You both went down and sat at the rear of the SUV eating your burgers while staring at the full moon.
--- Present Day ---
“And, apparently, I was followed by the paparazzi.” Chris ended his story.
“They must have been surprised. They thought they were just getting eating habits scoop on Captain America but they landed a hit with your girlfriend.”
“I mean..even we were surprised with how long we managed to keep this a secret. I don’t really care if it gets out but please give her some space, she’s not used to having a camera shoved into her face. “
“Maybe you should give her some shield training just in case paparazzi ambush her.”
“I should...that’s a great idea. It would be fun to watch it happen too.”
“Now, can you tell us how you two met.”
“Well, when I first saw her or when we officially met?”
“They’re not the same? Well, obviously, we want both now.”
Chris sat in the private corner of the newly opened Japanese Fusion restaurant. So far, no one has recognized him yet and disturbed his meal. He was with his friends celebrating the birth of one of his friends’ daughter.
A piano sat in the middle of the room. A Japanese guy was playing and singing songs he’s never heard of before but he liked it and thought it went with the feel of the place. The piano man informed the patrons that he was taking a thirty-minute break and welcomed anyone to use the piano during that time.
In the corner of Chris’ eyes, he saw a big group of people egging on a young woman to play the piano. She finally relented and sat at the recently vacated piano bench.
“I would like to congratulate my good friends, Dexter and Keiko, on their engagement. This song is for them,” the lady said. Some of those near the table of the group congratulating the newly engaged couple.
“Eyes on You by Faye Wong.” The lady said as an intro before hitting the piano keys.
Whenever sang my songs On the stage, on my own Whenever said my words Wishing they would be heard
Chris stopped listening to his friends and focused all his attention on the person singing. Her soft voice was definitely giving justice to the lyrics of the song.
I kind of liked it your way How you shyly placed your eyes on me Oh, did you ever know? That I had mine on you
It was at that moment that the woman looked up and her gaze fell straight ahead at Chris whose blue eyes were looking back at her. She smiled at him though there seems to be no sign in her eyes that she recognized Chris. Their actions gradually mimicking the song, she continued to sing.
Darling, so share with me Your love if you have enough your tears if you're holding back Or pain if that's what it is How can I let you know I'm more than the dress and the voice Just reach me out then You will know that you're not dreaming
“Thank you,” she said into the microphone. She cast one last glance at him before going back to her group of friends. Chris noticed a dark-haired man who was obviously very buzzed, aggressively grabbing the woman’s waist. The man placed a quick kiss on the woman’s lips and returned to eating.
‘She’s taken then, too bad.’
“Hey, Chris, man? You listening to us or are you going to stare at that girl all day? Just go ask her out if you like her.” One of his friends had apparently noticed his fascination with the singer.
“Nah. It looks like she came with someone. You guys want to order dessert?”
--- Present Day ---
“Was that guy her boyfriend?” Ellen asked Chris.
“I mean, yeah. She was seeing the guy but it kind of didn’t work out for them. Thankfully.” He raised both hands and made a thumbs-up sign while smiling widely.
“Yeah. We can see how that worked out very well in your favor. Now, would you tell us when you two formally met each other?”
--- 1 ½ year ago ---
You have been invited by a friend to watch the 49ers vs Rams game, the only problem is you know nothing about American football despite being American. You actually prefer to watch the English Premier League. Currently, your team, Tottenham, is playing against Liverpool. Instead of watching the NFL, you were glued to your phone watching your team defend their 1-0 lead during stoppage time.
“Finding the game boring?” You look up to see a handsome bearded brunette wearing a black sweater and shades sitting in the previously empty seat next to you.
“Actually, this is more my thing,” you said while raising your phone still showing the EPL game. “I don’t really understand American Football. I just got dragged today. I already feel bad for wasting space here at the suite. ”
“You’re English?” the guy asked again. Clearly, he was perplexed how an American can be so clueless about his beloved sport.
“Well, if that will get you off my case, then sure, I can be English,”  you retorted jokingly.
“Hey, I’m not judging. I’m just saying this is football.  Although, the 49ers and Rams are kind of weak compared to the Patriots. There is this team called the Patriots. They’re the greatest team in the history of the NFL.  And Tom Brady…that man is a god.” He continued to recite the achievements of his team off the top of his head. You tried to listen politely, nodding every couple of words but your eyes were still focused on the game until the very last second.
“Yes! We won. Take that Liverpool.” You punched the air with your free hand.
Your seatmate looked at you like he was betrayed, “I thought you were listening to me. “
“I was. I’m good at multitasking. See, my game just ended. Full attention on you now. But, who are you again?” you finally asked just realizing that the guy didn’t even introduce himself.
“I’m Chris…Chris Evans.” he held out his right hand and removed his shades.
“Oh, nice to meet you. I’m Y/N Y/L/N. Now, your name sounds familiar. Your face too, I think I’ve seen you somewhere before.” You shook his outstretched hand while still combing through your thoughts on where you’ve seen him. Finally, it clicked.
“Oh, are you the one who plays Captain America? You look different with a beard.”
“I am,” Chris said with a small smile on his face.
“Oh, wow. I love your movies. Captain America is nice but I love sci-fi movies. I’m a scientist you see so Sunshine and Snowpiercer are my favorites.”
“You’re a scientist?” he asked. His eyes focused on yours. Usually, not a lot of people, let alone celebrities care about your job.
“Yes. I do research at the JPL, and I have some teaching load at Caltech. But, I must be boring you. We can talk about the game now.”
“No, no. I am actually very interested in you, uh, I mean at what you do.” He stammered, blushing at the slip-up.
You laughed not realizing that he really was serious with both of the things he said. You explained to him what your job entails and how it feels like to work at JPL. You also talked about teaching at Caltech and all your smart students who are almost the same age as you which makes you feel weird. In return, you found out that his relatives are also teachers and he has a deep love for space. He also prefers doing small studio movies but the MCU movies provided him a certain set of advantages that the indie movies won’t be able to.
Your conversation flowed effortlessly as the game progressed. He would sometimes stop and point out certain parts of the game and explain it to you patiently. All the while, he can’t help but compare the two teams playing now to his New England Patriots. The game ended in favor of the Rams.
“Y/N, would you like to watch a Patriots game with me? They play the Rams next. I promise I’ll explain all the great plays that Tom Brady will orchestrate.” He looked at your eyes pleadingly. His right hand was clutching your left tightly.
You didn’t have to think twice to agree, “I’d love to, Chris.”
--- Present Day ---
“Did she know it was you from the restaurant?” Ellen asked. The audience also exclaimed, eager to know the answer.
“Not at all. I had to remind her later that we saw each other first at that place.”
“You must have sounded like a stalker,” Ellen joked to Chris. Chris laughed grabbing his left chest, almost falling out of his chair.”
“You have no idea. Anyway, that was the story of how I converted a Californian to a Patriots fan. Yeah! Oh, and along the way, I got a girlfriend.”
“Well, that’s a nice way to put it, Chris, let’s see how your girlfriend will react. Everyone, please welcome our surprise guest, Y/N.”
The studio erupted into loud cheers and applause. Some of the people watching even stood up to see well. Chris had his jaw open, surprised that you would agree to do something like this. He turned around in his chair and watched you come out from backstage. Chris seemed to have gotten out of his shock since he stood up and walked towards you. He enveloped you in a big hug which caused the cheers to go even louder.
“Babe, you okay doing this?” he was still hugging you. His back was to the audience and camera so they wouldn’t see you talking.
“I’ll get used to it.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.” You squeezed him tight before letting go of the hug, which would also go viral the following day. Hand in hand, you walked towards Ellen.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, our lovely couple, Chris and Y/N!”

Q&A
“I hate your job.” you said to your friend before continuing, “How are you supposed to write a halfway decent article about the movie when all these people are only asking about workout routine or diet or muscles.”
The D23 Convention was at full blast and one of the more popular events that the fans are flooding to is the Marvel stars’ Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, and Sebastian Stan’s panel. You were accompanying your childhood friend, Mike, in his assignment.
“This is a public Q&A so we can’t do anything about them, Y/N. I have a 15-minute interview with them later so I can still get something worthwhile for my article. Besides, I work for a men’s magazine, they dig this stuff.”
You continue to listen to the endless stream of nonsensical questions and your displeasure might have shown on your face because Mackie called you out.
“Hey, there Princess Megara. We’re the ones getting all these slambook questions, why are you the one looking frazzled. Come on up, ask us something nice, will you?” he raised his eyebrows comically while the rest of the hall including the stars on either side of him burst out in laughter.
Thinking how much fun lining up at the Space mountain would be compared to this panel, you went to the nearest microphone, tugging at your Megara ponytail all the while.
“Hi” you started, smiling. “Unfortunately, I ran out of questions about muscles and workout so I’ll have to settle by asking…Would you say that the narrative of Civil War was written in such a way that the viewers would be more sympathetic to your choices, Chris, since you are the titular character or it was more of an equal footing between the two opposing sides?”
“Thank you, sweetheart, for not failing me. Let me have Hercules over here answer your question. Come on, man, show Megara some of that super-soldier serum.” the hall laughed again.
Chris laughed before answering, “Thank you for that excellent question. Um, I would say, that the best part about this movie is that with how it was written, people would be able to identify with one of us because of their past experiences. Emotions play a huge role in this movie, not just of the characters but of the viewers as well. You could go into the movie expecting to support Team Cap but seeing the decisions of Stark as the movie plays out could sway you to shift and vice versa. But…you still gotta support Team Cap!” he smiled and winked at you causing your heart to skip a beat.
“Thank you,” you muttered softly into the mic and went back to your seat.
The host wrapped up the event and you accompany your friend to the assigned room for the interviews.
“Mike, why do you look like that?” you asked. Your friend was pale and covered in cold sweat. It was starting to worry you.
“Um, I kind of had a bad stomach bug. That’s why I’ve been going out frequently during the panel.”
Well, that sounded bad. His turn was next and you doubt that the organizer would allow pushing back his schedule.
“Please, you have to do this for me. It could cost me my job if I lose this interview.” he pleaded while clutching his stomach.
“Go.” you sighed. he handed you his notebook filled with questions and ran towards the bathroom.
You looked at his cameraman and asked, “Is this okay? Won’t he get in trouble?”
“He’ll get into more trouble if we don’t get this interview. It’s too late to get somebody else as a replacement.”
The organizer asked you to go inside and fix your things. So you and Harry, the cameraman, went in. You opened the notebook to look at the questions and immediately gasped.
“Harry, what the fuck are these questions? I can’t ask these.”
“Yo! It’s Princess Megara.”
You turned your head towards the entrance and Chris, Mackie and Sebastian entered seating at their assigned chairs.
“We’re rolling.” Harry said from his corner, motioning with his hand for you to start.”
“Um, I’m Y/N sitting in for Mike Finkley.  Smooth Men’s Magazine.”
“Wait…wait…wait. Hold up! You work for a men’s magazine?” Chris asked incredulously, his coffee held suspended in his left hand.
“Well, no. My friend does but he’s sick and I’m covering for him as of five minutes ago.” You looked like a deer caught in the headlights.
“Well, this is interesting,” Seb smirked.
“I know this magazine. I had an interview with them last month that made me blush and that never happens.” Mackie told Chris.
By this time, your entire face is burning with embarrassment and you closed the notebook in front of you. There was no way you’re asking those.
“Why are you closing your notes? We’ll play nice and answer them for you.” Chris said sympathetically while Mackie and Seb were elbowing each other.
“I don’t think you want to hear them,” you countered.
“So, to get things started, what are some of the changes your characters went through from the last movie to this one?”
They took turns answering your questions. As Chris said earlier, all of them were nice and answered without much prodding.
With some minutes left in your schedule and nothing left to ask, Chris again noticed your notebook.
“Maybe you should ask some of those questions now?”
Before you could even reply, he leaned forward and snatched the notebook from your lap. He opened it and his two co-stars leaned in over to read the questions.
“Oh..I like this one. What do you think makes women thirst after superheroes? Is it the suit? Is it the superpowers? I don’t know about you but my Falcon outfit is very sexy, chicks dig that.”
“Maybe they like my brooding nature as Winter Soldier. Smoldering eyes and a mysterious mask. That’s hot apparently.”
You just swallowed your embarrassment and looked at Chris waiting for his answer.
“Hm, for Cap, I think his very rigid nature attracts girls. He’s one to take relationships seriously.”
Mackie continued to read the questions, “ Will wearing a superhero outfit in the bedroom excite the girls. Ooohh.”
“Only if the girl likes it, bro, don’t make it too weird. Keep it simple, you know.” he finished looking straight at the camera. You just hope the camera wasn’t focused on you considering how red you are.
“Which superhero would perform excellently in the bedroom? DC or Marvel?”
“I mean we got the Falcon right here.  What do we need them DC guys for?” said Mackie.
“Trust me the winter soldier is not frigid. He’s smokin’ hot when he wants to… ‘ya know.”
Chris started grabbing his chest and laughing. He took a couple of seconds to compose himself before looking at you in the eyes.
“Captain America would outperform anyone, including you two,” he elbowed both guys, “Remember, I can do it all day.” He winked at you again and smiled.
You were saved from fainting by a knock on the door, “Time’s up. Next room please.” said the organizer.
You thanked the three of them profusely choosing not to make eye contact with Chris. That guy is making you feel all sorts of impure emotions.
“Thanks, Y/N, see you around,” Chris said before exiting the room.
You bid a quick farewell to Harry and sent a quick text to Mike that you are going straight to Disneyland. Maybe a quick tour of the Haunted Mansion will stop you from thinking some steamy scenes with Chris Evans.
You went straight to Disneyland eating some Churros alone while lined up. A staff approached you and asked, “Ms. Y/N Y/L/N?”
“Yes?” you swallowed the last bite of your churro.
“Please follow me.” she looked official enough so you followed her to the VIP entrance.
“Wait, miss, I don’t understand…I don’t have…” you started to say but your words drifted off as you saw who was standing behind her.
“Hey, mind if I join you? I have extra VIP passes?” Chris said.
“What about the interview?”
“I only had one after yours and it was over quickly. I’m here to enjoy the rides now.” He brought out a Minnie Mouse cap and plopped it on top of your head. You fixed it so that your Megara-style ponytail won’t be ruined.
“Well sure. I was lined up at the Haunted Mansion. If you want, that is.” He took your hand and followed the woman that led you to him.
“Oh, by the way, I still have your friend’s notebook.” He said giving you the notebook opened to the page with the questions.
Upon closer look, you see that every single one of them had been answered.
‘Lights on or off?’ On.
‘Top or Bottom?’ Bottom has a better view.
‘Boobs or Butt?’ Apparently, I’m an ass man.
The entire page had answers from him.
The very last question goes ‘For Chris, you apparently like Disney a whole lot. Which Disney princess will you take to bed?’ Megara.
That one made you blush even more and you closed the notebook abruptly.
“Not until after a  few dates, Y/N or should I say Princess Megara?”

Art & Science Part 1
Synopsis: While filming stunts for the Avengers movie, Chris Evans got into a small accident putting him in your emergency room.
Pairing: Chris Evans x Reader
Words: 1.3k
Rating: SFW but with mention of nudity.
Disclaimer: I don’t own the Avengers franchise. I can only wish.
---------------------
It was your usual busy day at Mass Gen Emergency Room. Myocardial Infarctions, Stroke, Fractures, MVA, burns,  you name it, Mass Gen probably has it.
It was one of those days when your charge nurse pulled you out of a probable food poisoning case.
“Doc Y/N, leave that case to the residents. There’s someone you need to see.” she gave you a meaningful look and inclined her head towards the VIP room.
You sighed deeply as you realize your day is probably getting a turn for the worse. VIP cases are never fun. Too much drama.
You accepted the chart she was handing over to you. You skimmed it quickly while walking towards your patient, your charge nurse leading the way and opening the door.
“Hey, Zed, this chart says the patient’s name is Chris Evans. Is he the Chris Evans that we know?”
“Well, I’m sure I would have remembered meeting someone like you.” your patient said smiling.
Tumblr media
You look up and sure enough he is the Chris Evans that you know...from his movies, of course.
You raised your eyebrow at him and decided to ignore the actor’s flirty introduction. If there is one thing you hate, it’s men that are full of themselves and act like jocks.
“Dr. Y/N Y/L/N. Good Afternoon. What brought you to the emergency room today Mr. Evans?” you said in a very professional manner. He is, after all, just another patient..
“Chris, please. I kind of got into an accident on set. Director wanted to make sure everything is okay so I’m here.” he replied while still smiling widely. You had to admit, he has perfect teeth.
The man he was with then asked if the nurse could leave. Something about confidentiality issues. You nodded and Zed left the room.
Chris then started unbuttoning his pants and pulling it down.
“Wa..Wait! What are you doing?” you stammered.
Chris stopped, looked at you and said, “Um, I’m showing you the injury. Isn’t that what I’m supposed to do?” he tilted his head like a puppy and for a moment you felt your heart skip a beat.
“Uh..oh yeah. Sure.” As Chris Evans is undressing in front of you, you continue asking him questions and completely filled out the chart.
“So stunt accident. You fell and a piece of metal cut into your right iliac down to your upper right thigh.” You donned your gloves and removed the bandage that was haphazardly applied on the set. All the while trying to ignore, his well toned physique.
You examine the six inch long laceration. It wasn’t deep enough to cut through the fascia, but it definitely needed stitches.
“Mr. Evans , I’m afraid you need to get some stitches. You’ll have to remove the boxers too if I am to stitch that up properly. If you feel uncomfortable, I can call someone else.”
“Okay, I think that is my cue to leave. Chris, you going to be fine bud? Need me to hold you hand?” his friend asked, obviously joking.
“You go ahead Josh. Me and the Doc are going to be just fine.”
His friend left the room and Chris said again, “You calling me Chris can help make things be a little comfortable, Doc. I mean, you have to see me naked after all.” He then dropped the boxers suddenly and sat on the edge of the examining table.
Your eyes widened and tried their hardest not to wander down.
“I never said you would be fully naked.” you retorted holding out a piece of fabric while staring into his eyes. “Besides, you still have your shirt on. Cover the important parts and lie down. I’ll prepare the suturing kit.”
You took as long as you could to prepare the necessary materials. “You okay now?” you asked, not daring to turn around and check for yourself.
“Yup. Important parts all covered up, Doc.” Chris said.
You turned around to find him positioned already on the table with the piece of cloth hiding his groin. You proceeded to explain the procedure to him and prepped the region to be sutured. He was unusually quiet unlike the Chris who was a bit cocky earlier. You looked up and saw that he had his eyes closed, fists clenched and he was trying to slow down his breathing. He looked really anxious.
You finished prepping and held his hand, “Hey, you know I’d use anesthesia right? You won’t feel a thing. I’m also quite good at what I do. Do you need me to call your friend, Chris?” calling him by his name first name this time.
He opened his eyes briefly, smiled and said, “Nah. I’m good Doc Y/N. Just try to go a bit faster if you can, I really am scared of hospitals.” he admitted. You nodded sympathetically, “Okay Chris. I’m going to wash my hands and put my sterile gloves on already. Make sure to keep your hands away from where I’m working on, okay?” He didn’t answer but nodded instead.
You proceeded to close up the laceration trying to go as fast as you  could without sacrificing the quality of your stitches. He remained quiet the entire time so you didn’t dare fill the silence with mindless chatter. After fifteen minutes, it was all done.
Before you could even say you’re done, Chris interrupted, “You really are good Doc, that was fast.”
“How long were you watching?” Chris laughed. “I wasn’t watching my wound get stitched up, Oh no. I’m scared of blood. I was watching your forehead scrunch up all this time. Careful doc. You get wrinkles that way.” he winked.
He was back to his cocky self and you weren’t sure whether you like him like that or when he was scared and needing his hand to be held. The man is a walking contradiction. To convey your displeasure you went back to calling him by his last name.
“Mr. Evans, no strenuous activities for a week...working out, running, stunts or else your wound might open up. You can follow up at your preferred doctor after a week to check whether the stitches can be removed. Here’s your prescription and discharge instructions.” you handed him a bunch of papers. “You can settle everything at the station. You can get dressed now. Have a good day.”
You didn’t even give him any time to reply and you immediately went out of the room.
“Mr. Josh. You can finalize your discharge now. Mr. Evans is just getting dressed inside.” Josh thanked you and went inside the room.
You never were the kind of girl to fall for charms and a handsome face. You prefer dorks and nerds. However, this guy is making you feel things that a doctor shouldn’t feel for her patient. You went to the nurses station grabbed a chart and tried to forget the brief encounter with Chris.
You quickly interviewed the next patient and performed some physical examinations before having him admitted for pneumonia.
You went back again to the nurses station to fill up some laboratory request when your nurse said, “Coffee for Doc Y/N.”
You looked at the steaming cup of coffee bought from the cafe across the street. You smiled and thanked Zed for being thoughtful.
“Oh, that’s not from me.” she grinned meaningfully and slid a torn up prescription pad towards you.
~
You didn’t give me any time to thank you so I got you coffee instead. You also looked very busy. I can tell you know, your forehead scrunches up when you concentrate. See you next week.
                                                                                                 Chris
~
Next week? Does he want her to take out the stitches too?
‘Well, too bad. My month long vacation starts tomorrow.’ you thought and went back to finish the chart of the patient you just sent up all the while not realizing the small smile on your lips as you sip the coffee Chris gave you.

Art & Science Part 2
It was your third day of vacation and you’ve already spent the first two sleeping. You grabbed the plate of tomato and onion omelette you just made and went out to your apartment’s balcony overlooking the Charles.
You could go shopping but you really don’t need anything at the moment. You could also visit some professors back in Med school but you see them already at the hospital from time to time. Your brother who is stationed in San Diego will be visiting next week so until then your schedule is free. As you eat your breakfast, you start going through the limited number of friends you have currently in Boston.
“Med school killed my social life,” you muttered as you scooped the last bite of omelette.
Your phone started ringing just at that moment which brought a frown to your face. It was your boss’ number which doesn’t bode well on your vacation.
“Dr. Vandel, what can I do for you during my vacation?” you said stressing the last word a bit more than you should have.
“I know it’s your vacation and that’s why I’m calling you.”
Apparently, your boss was to be a consultant for an upcoming movie set at the hospital. He’s supposed to show up at the script reading next week but the meeting has been moved to this afternoon and he was still at a conference in New York.
“But, why me?” you asked. You didn’t have anything else to do anyway so you’ve already made up your mind about accepting the role.
“You know the ER like the back of your hand. And, your specialty deals with all kinds of procedures. You’re also very level headed. This means a lot for the hospital, Y/N. I have full confidence in you.”
“Of course Dr. Vandel. I’ll do my best.”
He gave you instructions on the location and time of script reading before ending the call.
The call time was still at one in the afternoon to be held at one of the Boston Harbor Hotel’s function rooms. Since you had some time to spare, you decided to check if the aquarium had new attractions.
You put on a dark blue, short-sleeved, knee-length dress with black peter pan collar partnered with nude low heels. You also grabbed a white knit cardigan before heading down to your car and driving towards the aquarium.
You walked around the different attractions of the aquarium taking the occasional picture of animals you found cute including the Dory look-alike in the Indo-Pacific coral reef exhibit. You finally settled in for the 45 minute Turtle Odyssey shot film being shown at the IMAX theater.
With an hour to spare you grabbed a sandwich and a salad at the cafe and settled at one of the coveted window seats. Your thoughts wandered to the upcoming movie to be set at your hospital.
‘I wonder who the actors will be. Would it be too much to hope for Josh Hartnett? Channing Tatum?’ you mulled over the possible plot and actors or actresses who might play the lead in your make-believe.
‘Well, whoever they might be, I hope they’re nice.’
You decided to leave your car in the parking lot and just walk to the hotel. You asked the front desk where the function room was and someone verified your name against the list before leading you to a room already buzzing with activity.
One of the scriptwriters welcomed you into the room and led you to your seat.
“Thank you so much for doing this so suddenly. We had to move forward the read-through since the lead had some problems with his schedule.”
“No problem at all,” you say while taking a seat and receiving a copy of the script.
“Would you mind telling me who plays the lead?” you asked.
“Well, the lead is played by - oh, there he is, Chris Evans.”
You turned around in shock and see the guy who you just saw half-naked two days ago shaking hands with the director and other actors. You bowed your head and tried to make yourself as inconspicuous as possible.
The scriptwriter failed to notice your attempt at hiding. He called Chris over.
“Hey there Chris! How you doing bud?” they hugged each other and turned towards you.
You saw Chris’ eyes widen for a fraction of a second before a big smile displayed on his lips, his head tilted to the side as if wondering what you were doing there.
You shifted uncomfortably in your seat and smiled in return.
“Thanks for the coffee,” you blurted out of the blue.
“You guys already know each other?” the scriptwriter asked confusedly.
“Yeah, we do.” Chris nodded his head in an exaggerated manner. “Oh, the director might have some questions for you. You might want to check that one out.”
Chris grabbed a chair turned it away from him and straddled it facing you.
“Nice meeting you again. Doc? Y/N?”
“I prefer being called by my name outside of the hospital.”
“Y/N, then. So, how did you end up here? You an actress or a medical stunt double or something?”
“There’s a medical stunt double? Wow, I should do that if I ever quit being a doctor. My boss is the one who’s supposed to be doing this. However, this thing got moved ahead of schedule so he’s still in New York. He called me to cover for him.”
“ ’This’ got pushed ahead because of this,” he pointed towards his injury. “Since I couldn’t do anything too taxing - doctor’s orders, it’s all meetings and boring stuff for now. I only got a few more scenes for Avengers and I’m all done.”
“How’s your wound? Any bleeding? Pain?” you asked, immediately going into doctor mode.
“Nah. I’m fine. Nothing I can’t handle. Aren’t you supposed to be in the hospital? Are you off duty?”
“Yup, for an entire month. It’s my vacation,” you said smiling proudly.
“But, I’m supposed to come back next week to get my stitches removed? Who will do it for me now?” he said sulkily.
“Anyone can remove stitches, Chris. Just show up there.” You laughed at his childlike attitude.
“But I’m already comfortable with you seeing me naked.”
“Oh, for goodness sake! Tone it down. People might misinterpret that,” you hissed. Your hand immediately went up instinctively covering his mouth just in case he says something else.
Chris placed both his hands up beside his head and you slowly removed your hand.
“Okay. But, I’m just saying you have to remove the stitches.”
“Fine!”
Chris smiled, happy to get his way.
“Okay, everyone. Back to your seats please.”
Chris gave your shoulder a pat before going to his assigned seat near the director.
“Everyone, before we start, please introduce yourself briefly and the role you are to play. Let’s start with our director.”
The introductions were very brief and the entire crew proceeded right away to reading the script. They told you to make marks in the scenes that aren’t medically accurate. From what you understood in the script, this is going to be about an ER doctor who was getting stalked by the mother of a patient who died. It was a very emotional and technical film. Too bad the script was far from accurate. You make some corrections to the medical aspect of the script, crossing some lines out and offering some suggestions on the margins. It was a slow process and before you know it, it was already night time.
“Thank you everyone for your patience. Dinner will be served momentarily. Please stay in your seats.”
As you eat your dinner, you talk to the scriptwriter about the modifications you would like to make. You keep yawning and looking at your watch prompting him to ask, “If you have another appointment, I can just take the script and then call you if I have any questions. Sorry, we ran late. It usually happens.”
“I kind of parked at the aquarium and walked here. It’s getting a bit late too. Please give everyone my thanks. I’ll go ahead.” You grabbed all your things from the table and make a quick exit.
As you walked across the expansive lobby, you hear someone yelling your name.
“Y/N! Y/N! Wait for me.”
You stopped in your tracks, looked back, and saw Chris jogging lightly towards you.
“Hey, what’s the hurry? You didn’t finish dinner. I got you takeout,” he handed over an unopened pack of lasagna and chicken parmigiana.
You accepted the food, happy knowing you won’t have to cook anymore tonight.
“Um, thanks. It’s just, I didn’t expect that this would take until this late to finish and I left my car at the aquarium. I don’t feel comfortable walking so late that’s why I’m going now. Job hazard. Thanks for the food.”
You turned around again to start walking back to your car when you notice that someone is walking beside you.
“I’ll walk you over, Y/N. Come on.”
“No, no. It’s fine. I’m sure they still need you in there.”
“Nah. It’s dinner. Everything’s technically done. Let me just make a call.”
Chris called his assistant, informing him where he was going and not to expect him back for a while.
You walked in silence for the first few minutes not minding to fill the silence with mindless chatter. That silence was only broken when a young man walked up to Chris and asked for a photo. He obliged and wished the man goodnight.
“Does that happen often?” you inquired. He was the first famous person that you know after all.
“Sure, yeah Not so much here in Boston but in LA, every single time. I don’t really mind fans…it’s the paparazzi that really gets to me.”
“It must be hard living in a glass house,” you mused.
“Well, I make sure not to throw stones around.”
“Good idea.”
You both laughed at each other and spent the rest of the way to your car in friendly banter.
“This is my ride.” You gestured to your car. “Thanks for walking me.”
“Hey, no problem. See you around on set?”
“On set?”
“Yeah. Didn’t the guy who had this job tell you? You also have to be on set to help teach how to do the medical stuff.”
“Uhm, no. We didn’t get around to that part.” You decide to give your boss a call once you got home.
“Y/N. Take care on the way home.”
You waved at him before going inside your car. Chris remained standing at the curb as you pull away. You beeped one last time. All the while, Chris remained standing at his spot watching you slowly drive away.
