Efficient Laundry Drying: Tips for Quick and Effective Results
Tumblr media
Efficient laundry drying is not only about saving time but also conserving energy and ensuring that your clothes maintain their quality. Whether you're dealing with a lack of outdoor space, inclement weather, or just want to speed up the dry time process, these tips will help you achieve optimal results in the shortest time possible. Use a High Spin Cycle Have you ever considered unleashing the full power of your washing machine's high-spin cycle to dry your laundry efficiently? Many of us often overlook this feature, but it can make a significant difference in reducing drying time and energy bills. By allowing the washer to spin at its highest speed, excess water is extracted from clothes in the best way, cutting down on the amount of time they need in the dryer drum. Not only does this save precious minutes on laundry day, but it also reduces wear and tear on your clothing items.  By using a high spin cycle it can help maintain the quality of delicate fabrics by minimizing exposure to heat or over-drying in the dryer. This method is especially effective for items like towels and linens, which tend to hold more moisture. Embracing the power of a high-speed spin can revolutionize your laundry routine, making it more efficient and eco-friendly while ensuring that your clothes come out fresh and ready to wear. Next time you do a load of laundry, consider utilizing this underappreciated feature – you'll be amazed at the results! Sort Your Laundry Sorting your laundry may seem like a mundane task, but mastering this process can lead to more effective cleaning and efficient drying clothes. Beyond simply separating lights from darks, consider sorting by fabric type, care labels and level of soiling. This not only prevents colors from running but also allows you to customize the washing and drying cycles for each load, resulting in cleaner clothes with less wear and tear. When it comes to drying your laundry efficiently, always shake out items before putting them in the dryer to reduce wrinkles and ensure even drying. Be mindful of overloading the dryer with large loads, as this can lead to longer drying times and potentially damage delicate fabrics and even synthetic materials. By embracing these tips for sorting and drying laundry efficiently, you'll not only save time but also extend the lifespan of your favourite garments. Invest in a High-Quality Dryer If you have the option, investing in a high-quality dryer can revolutionize the way you dry your laundry. Beyond just saving time, a top-notch dryer will ensure that your clothes are dried efficiently and effectively. By choosing a model with advanced features such as moisture sensors and customizable settings, you can say goodbye to over-dried or damp clothing.  A high-quality dryer can offer innovative functionalities that cater to specific fabric types and drying needs. Advanced steam cycles can quickly refresh delicate items without causing damage, while specialty options for bulky items ensure thorough drying without sacrificing gentleness. Modern dryers come with advanced features such as moisture sensors, which automatically shut off the machine when the clothes are dry. With these capabilities at your fingertips, investing in premium drying technology becomes an investment in prolonging the quality and longevity of your wardrobe.  Optimize Load Size When it comes to efficiently drying laundry, optimizing load size is a game-changer. Many people tend to overload their dryers, thinking they are being time-efficient, but in reality, smaller loads often dry more effectively. By carefully considering load size, you can ensure that the hot air circulates evenly throughout the clothes, resulting in faster and more thorough drying. Another key aspect of optimizing load size is preventing wrinkles. Smaller loads have more room to tumble freely, reducing the chances of garments getting tangled and creased during the drying cycle. Additionally, properly sized loads can minimize wear and tear on your clothes and extend their lifespan by allowing them to move more freely in the dryer. Utilize Dryer Balls A great tip is use dryer balls, they are the unsung heroes of laundry day, offering a simple and effective way to dry clothes efficiently while also reducing static and wrinkles. These magical little spheres work by tumbling around in the dryer, creating space between the clothes and allowing hot air to flow more freely, which not only speeds up drying time but also helps save on energy costs. Their gentle tumbling action helps to prevent clothes from clumping together, resulting in less tangling and a more even drying process. One often overlooked benefit of using dryer balls is their ability to naturally soften fabrics without the need for chemical-laden dryer sheets or fabric softeners. By reducing the friction between clothes as they tumble, dryer balls help to fluff up fabrics and leave them feeling softer and more comfortable against the skin. What's more, these handy little tools are reusable and can last for hundreds of loads, making them an eco-friendly alternative to disposable dryer sheets or liquid softeners.  Clean the Lint Filter Cleaning the lint filter is a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of maintaining an efficient laundry routine. The accumulation of lint in the filter not only hampers the effectiveness of your dryer but also poses a potential fire hazard. To dry laundry efficiently and safely, it’s essential and a good idea to regularly clean the lint screen and filter after every load. By doing so, you can prevent lint build-up, allowing hot air to circulate more freely and decreasing drying times. Keeping the lint filter clean not only improves energy efficiency but also extends the lifespan of your dryer. Over time, clogged filters can strain the machine and lead to increased wear and tear on vital components. Embracing this simple task as part of your laundry routine will not only save you time and money but also minimize unnecessary risks associated with neglected filters.  Choose the Right Heat Setting Choosing the right heat setting is crucial when it comes to drying laundry efficiently. While high heat settings may seem like the quickest option, they can damage delicate fabrics and cause shrinkage. A medium or low heat setting is often more suitable for drying most types of clothes, ensuring that they retain their shape and color while still being dried thoroughly. Considering the energy efficiency of your chosen heat setting can lead to cost savings and reduce environmental impact. Opting for a lower heat setting consumes less energy and results in gentler treatment of your garments, ultimately prolonging their lifespan. By understanding the impact of different heat settings on both your clothes and the environment, you can make a conscious choice that balances efficiency with garment care. Utilize Outdoor Drying Utilizing outdoor drying for laundry is not only environmentally friendly but also highly efficient. By harnessing the power of the sun and air, clothes can dry quickly and naturally without the need for electricity or gas-powered dryers. This method not only saves on energy costs but also helps to reduce carbon emissions, making it a sustainable choice for both individuals and the planet. In addition to its eco-friendly benefits, outdoor drying also contributes to better garment care. The sun's UV rays act as a natural disinfectant and deodorizer, effectively eliminating bacteria and odors from clothes. Hanging clothes outside can help preserve fabric integrity by reducing exposure to high heat and tumbling in traditional dryers. It’s important to recognize that outdoor drying is more than just a practical chore—its merits extend beyond basic functionality. Engaging with this age-old tradition allows individuals to connect with nature, fostering a sense of mindfulness and appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. As we become more conscious of our ecological footprint, embracing the practice of outdoor drying offers tangible benefits in terms of sustainability and well-being.  Invest in a sturdy washing line, clothes prop or clothes dryer, or drying rack for outdoor use. Time Your Loads By strategically timing your loads, you can maximize the effectiveness of your laundry routine while minimizing energy consumption. Consider running your dryer cycles during off-peak hours when electricity rates are lower, such as early in the morning or late at night. Additionally, adjusting the drying time based on load size and type of fabric can make a notable difference in efficiency. The general rule of thumb is by timing your loads to coincide with lower usage periods and carefully considering load size and fabric type, you can save time and resources while achieving perfectly dry laundry every time. This strategic approach allows for more sustainable use of energy and prolongs the lifespan of your appliances—a win-win for both your wallet and the environment. Prevent Wrinkles Have you ever considered the impact of air-drying your wet clothes in direct sunlight or a windy day to prevent wrinkles and improve your carbon footprint. This simple and efficient method not only saves energy but also reduces the risk of wrinkles and static cling, especially for delicate fabrics? By carefully shaking out each garment before hanging it to dry, you can prevent creases from forming in the first place. Additionally, using a high-quality fabric conditioner during the wash cycle can help maintain the smoothness and flexibility of your clothing fibers.  Another often overlooked aspect of wrinkle prevention is proper storage. Folding clothes neatly and avoiding overcrowding in drawers or closets can significantly reduce the likelihood of wrinkles forming. Consider using breathable garment bags or hangers with padding to protect delicate items and keep them looking fresh for longer. When ironing becomes necessary, opt for a gentle steam setting to relax wrinkles without putting excessive heat stress on the fabric. These small changes in laundry habits and storage techniques can add up to big improvements in preventing wrinkles and maintaining a polished appearance for your wardrobe. Conclusion Drying laundry efficiently involves a combination of smart practices, modern appliances, and a bit of outdoor help when possible. By implementing these quick tips, you can reduce drying times, save energy, help the planet, and keep your clothes looking and feeling their best. Experiment with these strategies to find the combination that works best for your specific laundry load.  Read the full article

Gentle Care for Delicate Fabrics: Washing Machine Tips for Silks and Woolens
When it comes to keeping your delicate fabrics like silks and woolens in pristine condition, a little extra care goes a long way. Washing machines can be a convenient tool for laundry, but delicate fabrics require special attention to ensure they stay soft, vibrant, and retain their shape. Here are some handy tips for using your washing machine to care for your delicate garments.
Tumblr media
1. Choose the Right Cycle and Settings
Opt for a gentle cycle on your washing machine. This cycle is designed to be soft on fabrics and minimize agitation, which is crucial for delicate fabrics like silk and wool. Adjust the water temperature to cold or lukewarm to prevent shrinking or damaging the fibers.
2. Use a Mild Detergent
Select a mild, pH-neutral detergent that is specifically formulated for delicate fabrics. Harsh detergents can strip delicate fabrics of their natural oils and weaken the fibers. Be sure to measure the detergent according to the instructions to avoid overuse.
3. Turn Clothes Inside Out
Before placing your silks and woolens in the washing machine, turn them inside out. This simple step helps minimize friction and abrasion on the visible side of the fabric, preserving its appearance.
4. Use a Mesh Laundry Bag
Consider placing delicate garments in a mesh laundry bag. This adds an extra layer of protection during the wash, preventing tangling and potential damage from zippers or buttons on other clothing items.
5. Avoid Overcrowding
Do not overcrowd the washing machine. Give your delicate items enough space to move freely within the drum. Overcrowding can lead to uneven washing and potential damage.
6. Skip the Spin Cycle
If your washing machine allows, skip the spin cycle. Instead, gently squeeze out excess water from your garments by hand. High-speed spinning can stretch and distort delicate fabrics.
7. Air Dry Flat
After washing, lay your silks and woolens flat to air dry. Avoid hanging them as this can cause stretching. Placing them on a clean towel will help absorb excess water.
Amazon India offers a variety of gentle detergents and mesh laundry bags ideal for washing delicate fabrics like silks and woolens. Their range of laundry products ensures you have the right tools to maintain the quality and longevity of your precious garments. Remember, a little care in the washing machine can go a long way in preserving the beauty and softness of your delicate fabrics.

The Purpose Of Using Mesh Laundry Bags
Tumblr media
Mesh laundry wash bags are specifically designed with a breathable and open-weave fabric. The mesh fabric consists of a network of interwoven or knitted fibers, creating small holes or gaps throughout the material. This open structure of mesh laundry bags allows air to circulate freely, promoting ventilation and facilitating the flow of water and detergent during the washing process.
The breathable nature of mesh laundry bags serves several purposes. Here are the benefits of their breathable design:
Airflow. The open-weave construction of mesh bags enables proper airflow inside the bag during washing and drying. This helps to prevent the buildup of moisture, odors, or mildew, which can occur when clothes are enclosed in a non-breathable container. The improved airflow aids in drying the clothes more efficiently.
Quick drying. The breathable fabric of mesh bags allows water to drain easily, enabling faster drying of the garments inside. This is particularly advantageous for items that may take longer to dry, such as delicate fabrics or thicker garments. The quick drying time helps prevent the development of musty odors and reduces the risk of mold or mildew formation.
Reduced wrinkling. The open-weave structure of mesh laundry bags helps to minimize wrinkles and creases in your clothes during the washing process. It allows the garments to move more freely and prevents them from being tightly pressed against each other. This can be especially beneficial for delicate fabrics that are prone to wrinkling.
Using a delicate or gentle washing cycle, along with a lower spin speed, can also help reduce wrinkling. The mesh bag can act as an additional buffer, allowing the clothes to experience less agitation during the wash cycle.
Protection and gentle care. Despite their open design, mesh bags still provide a protective barrier for your clothes. The small holes in the mesh are typically small enough to prevent buttons, hooks, or other embellishments from snagging on other items or the washing machine agitator. They offer a gentle environment for delicate fabrics, reducing the risk of damage or deformation.
Easy visibility. The transparent or semi-transparent nature of the mesh fabric allows you to quickly identify the items inside the bag. You can easily see what clothes or items are contained in each bag without having to open or unzip them. This saves time and effort, especially when sorting or organizing your laundry.
The visibility provided by mesh laundry bags makes it easier to locate specific items without rummaging through the entire bag. You can spot and retrieve the desired garment or item more efficiently, saving time and minimizing any potential disturbance to the other contents of the bag.
Versatility. Mesh laundry bags can be used to organize and store various items around the house. You can use them to store toys, accessories, sports equipment, craft supplies, or even travel essentials like toiletries or electronics cables.
Mesh bags are also great travel companions. You can use them to pack and separate different types of clothing or accessories in your suitcase, keeping your items organized and easily accessible. They also allow for quick visual identification of contents, making it convenient when you are on the go.

HEY LOOK it’s an AU I’ve sat on for a couple years and never talked about! This is also probably the *weirdest* AU I’ve ever made. This AU focuses mainly on Alexander and Thomas reincarnating over the years, though other characters sometimes pop up as well. Details below the cut!
Making the photoset small so that it isn’t immediately obvious how rough these little sketches are. I did this in like an hour which is why it’s so sloppy.
Don’t expect anything else from this AU, I just wanted to get it out once.
As stated this is a really weird AU, so I’m going to summarize it in the cleanest way I possibly can.
World setup:
This world relies on three main concepts. The first is that souls have power, and the second is that this power is represented by colors, and the third is that soul magic leads the world.
Souls have power, and this power grows over time. As someone is reincarnated over the years, their soul will continue to grow more and more powerful and refined. Souls can change their power type (explained in the next concept) each time they’re reincarnated, but often trend towards keeping the same or similar power types as those they’ve had in previous lives, or a mix of them.
This power is represented by colors, particularly light or the lack thereof. Magic is defined as two types: white/light (and its components), or black/dark. Someone can not have both types of magic. Dark magic is organic magic, allowing the user to manipulate the natural world. Only a small subset of the population has this magic, and most go into careers related to naturalism or farming. Light magic is inorganic magic (making it essentially limitless), and is held by the vast, vast majority of the population. It is broken down in the color spectrum -- most light magicians aren’t considered as having light magic, but instead have red magic, or blue magic, or so on.
Soul magic leads the world in the form of the High God. As the power of souls grow over time, so does the power of the gods. The High God is little more than a web of scraps of magic, and builds up the basis of the universe and everything within it. Two Lesser Gods are also much later brought into being by this same force of magic, but where the High God is concerned with the cosmos, the Lesser Gods care for the beings within it. The Lesser Gods also pluck individual souls out of the cycle to act as servants and ambassadors who can actively visit humanity to guide it down the path of the Lesser God’s vision. The Lesser Gods can correspond with the High God, but there’s little to be heard by a being in such a grand scale above even the other gods.
Plot basics:
The storyline takes place over thousands of years, and several reincarnations of the cast, but the main focus is on three lives.
One of three: This life takes place while humanity is still only beginning to gain its footing. Magic is in its infancy, and is capable of very little -- and while some regions embrace the natural variation in magic, others detest it. The main cast lives in an area of the latter sort -- a small tribe identifying themselves with their “red” magic is clashing with the “blue” tribe over a small area of land that grows a particular herb that is highly nutritious and thought to have healing properties. The one thing the two tribes agree over is in a legend of people with every magic type, “light” magicians, who are incredibly powerful and are sent by fate to lead tribes to prosperity. Both tribes also identify their affiliations by painting stripes under their eyes with their color.
(There are other tribes in the area -- many of the other cast members live in the green tribe, and Lafayette is of the dark tribe to the south, but they don’t have much standing on the plot.)
Thomas is the son of a the blue tribe’s leader and is particularly gifted with magic to the point where some people claim his family must descend from a light magician. He hates the pressure put on him to step up and lead, or to use his powers to defeat the red tribe.
Alexander is from the red tribe, raised by his mother -- his father is unknown to him, though his mother claims she found his father one day while out foraging, brought him back to the village to tend to his wounds, and fell in love until the day he ran away again. Alexander is a typical red magician, but often will go out alone into the woods to attempt to push his powers to the limits, with the excuse that he forages while away. One day, Alexander leaves to forage, but becomes caught in a heavy thunderstorm. Disoriented, he stumbles through the underbrush until he comes to a messy trail and follows it.
Thomas is the one to find him collapsed on the trail, bunches of the herb Alexander collected in his small bag. The rain washed away Alexander’s paint -- not knowing who this stranger could be, Thomas hauls him back and takes the herb from Alexander’s back to give to the healers.
When Alexander wakes up -- indoors, clothes dry -- he’s approached by Thomas, who introduces himself. Alexander is at first terrified, knowing that a member of Thomas’ tribe wouldn’t hesitate to kill a member of the red tribe. But Thomas has been working on a plan: he doesn’t want all this pressure on him to do this and do that as the heir to the only family descending from a light magician; instead, he slyly mentions that he heard legend of light magicians appearing to aid those in need. Alexander jumps on the opportunity, claiming that of course he’s a light magician, and of course he’ll help Thomas’ community. Anything to stop them from stabbing him then and there, he supposes. Thomas thanks him, hands him a bowl of broth made from the healing herbs, and their relationship develops from there.
Alexander never does find out his father was a light magician.
But other folks find out he’s a red magician -- and before he can escape back to his own tribe, he’s killed.
Two of three: Thousands of years later, magic is no longer a faint power only a few can properly utilize. Instead, it’s well-known and spread through the population, which isn’t tribal any longer, but is instead a relatively highly-developed interlocked society spanning the globe.
No longer are people defined by a single color -- many people descend from a mixture of many colors, and instead are simply inclined towards one over the other, though some stronger than others. Light magic has also become far more common, though it’s rare to see someone who can naturally use it; instead, people with great magical affinity will be invited to schools of higher education where they are trained.
Thomas is in his second year studying with one such school. His parents both attended it, and are ecstatic for Thomas to join it as well, though he’s less interested. He’s initially invited to the school to study light magic, but during the first week of orientation he finds out: hey! He hates light magic and isn’t inclined towards it at all! And instead he runs off to study blue magic. It just...feels better.
Alexander comes into the school a year after Thomas on a full scholarship. He comes from a far more unfortunate background, but shows incredible magic potential. So, a light magician it is! Where the other magics at the school dress however they want, work on projects all over the common spaces, wander the halls...to be a light magician is to be perfect, and that’s exactly what he wants. He dresses in the perfect white uniform, he sticks his nose up at other magics, and his class -- only one, all day, every day -- is set with the other 99 students in his class in an auditorium.
Only...light magic isn’t all it’s cracked out to be. Light magic is no longer the raw force of power it was; instead, students are encouraged to refine and control it if they want to use it. Light magic is pulled from the soul and spun into a string, then woven on a loom into the desired shape. First-years are still learning how to weave, so they work on projects as a community -- each student of the 100 is brought up to a stage during class, spins a single string, then sets it on the loom and sits down. The lecturer then weaves them all together. Though first-years are forbidden from meeting with the upper years, rumor says upper years get to weave their own magic, and go on to work at the greatest government-run magi-tech facilities in the world.
But Alexander feels off. He doesn’t like the clothes, and he doesn’t like the culture. Within the first month, the lecture becomes dull: there’s no notes to take, every demonstration is slow, and he’s terrified that every time it’s his turn to come to the stage, he’ll mess up his weave. Not only that, but weaving doesn’t feel...right.
One day he runs into a group of blue students while going to the restroom during lecture. They’re encouraged not to leave during lecture, but he’s falling asleep and has to get out of that uncomfortable chair. And he realizes...the blue students are using their magic freely, and already doing amazing things with their powers, not spending all their days in that awful lecture hall.
And just like that, Thomas convinces him to leave the light magic program. Alexander becomes a red magician, but something never does sit right with him about what was happening in those lectures.
Until it comes out that weaving light magic requires depositing a bit of one’s soul along with it. Light-weaving magicians will all burn out eventually, and while the soul will regenerate come their next reincarnation, their magic is stolen from them in their current incarnation.
Chaos breaks out among the magicians of the school. A microcosm of revolution between those who are learned and powerful and those who are plentiful and ready to throw all they have at it.
Alexander is killed in the chaos.
Three of three: Another several thousand years pass. It’s by this time that the Lesser Gods have fully formed, and light-weaving technology has surpassed all else to the point where humanity is post-scarcity -- cities are rebuilt for beauty, natural spaces carved out, portals and magic commonly integrated. Everyone has everything they could want, they only need to find their place and personal happiness.
Thomas is plucked out of the reincarnation cycle by the Lesser Gods; he’s brought into being as an adult with a strictly light-blue uniform and a purpose. He mainly takes correspondence and delivers messages, seeks out additional souls that would be good to be made into a being such as himself (a ”unit”), as well as various other duties assigned at random, such as setting things up if another unit will be doing things down in the world.
He doesn’t personally recommend Alexander’s soul be pulled, but he doesn’t mind when he’s assigned to wake Alexander up. Alexander is another unit, but this time an enforcer with a pink uniform: or, white-red, to be specific. An enforcer is more than a passive messenger -- they’re powerful, strong, and are meant to cleanly eliminate those who would destroy the perfect society humanity has built.
He and Alexander work next to each other for a time while Alexander is awaiting orders. One day, Alexander is sent off on a mission: some random crazy person has been trying to build an artificial god. Of course, that won’t fly, so he’s off to eliminate them and destroy anything remaining of their project.
But in his absence, Thomas starts to realize that he’s...lonely. He’s excited when he’s given his next assignment to go to Earth for some silly routine work, and realizes that he doesn’t...really want to go back. James is the final nail in the coffin for him: finally, someone else who likes him! They just have to disappear and pop off elsewhere, ideally avoiding enforcers, and they’ll be off scott free!
Shame that Alexander finds him.
(The funny thing about Thomas being a servant is that he does have some powers -- ones that happen to counteract all of Alexander’s offensive abilities as an enforcer. Making it a very awkward sort of manhunt. Units were never made to hunt each other, or even defect at all!)
And with each escape, every thwarted plan, Alexander cracks a little more. And eventually, when Thomas extends a hand -- maybe out of pity, maybe out of love, maybe just because it’s what he’s always done in all their lives -- Alexander takes it.
And they run free.
And that’s it for this AU! I’m never writing for it ever again. Goodnight.

Lion and Wolf
timing: At the start of the full moon parties: @letsbenditlikebennett, @laylacooke, @walker-journal summary: Adam meets Layla on the eve of full moon and has to decide if its stabbing time, Celeste saves the day.
Adam was in Took’s General Store purchasing the essentials for “Big Moon” days. Previous trips to The Armory and Excalibur had taken care of most munitions and blade requirements. However there was always miscellaneous stuff. Materials for molotov cocktails, chloroform, poisons, and other essentials were all readily available within Took’s cheery confines.
Plus soap, gonna need ...lots...of soap.
To Adam’s surprise there was a small hesitation inside of him, a passing flicker of hope that none of the wolves he’d encounter were Winn or Lucas inside, or Lucas’ brother whom he’d never met. It was an unusual train of thought for Adam and he shoved it away. All threats needed to be eliminated no matter who they were. This kind of thinking wasn’t what he needed during this critical part of the lunar cycle. Focus.
However the athlete’s mental coaching actually made him lose track of where he was, leading him to almost run over someone in the aisle.
“Hey look where you’re…”
It was about this time that Adam’s eyes took in that the human roadblock also happened to be a bombshell. Brown eyes traced curves before finally arriving to her face with an appreciative smile.
“Sorry about that,” he said in a markedly more diplomatic tone. “My bad.”
----------------
Layla had only been in Took’s a few times. When she had managed to find some money here or there and could afford a small snack or something to drink. But being able to freely go in and just look was something she was able to do now. And since finding a home with Ari, Ulf, and Celeste, her mission was to explore the town and familiarize herself with everything without as much worry as she once previously held. Of course, tonight’s only issue was the full moon, which was rather big, and she knew she’d have to head back home soon.
Perusing the aisles, Layla wasn’t looking for anything in particular, however, she also hadn’t been paying attention to where she was going, so when she ran into someone she quickly started apologizing, “I’m sorry, I got caught up in looking, and I didn’t...see you.” The guy staring back at her had caught her attention with his smile.
It had been a long time since anyone had looked at her like that, and while she was flattered, she was also reminded about the serious relationship she had been in for a few years now, “It’s cool. I should have been paying attention to where I was going.”
---------------- “No problem,” Adam said with a lavisciously distracted grin.
Yet with the young woman’s (was she legal...oh god, hopefully?) presence came a feeling of cold that prickled long his skin in ripples of goosebumps and washed down his spin like he’d stepped under a waterfall. Something about this chick’d set off his Hunter senses. She was likely an inhuman, but of what kind he had no idea.
“Adam Walker,” he said, reaching a thewy arm across the card to offer his hand, trying not to let the heeby jeebies change his expression. “You from around here?”
----------------
Was this guy flirting with her? He had to have been. That smile that seemed to be permanently etched on his face was alerting her to the fact. She had seen it so many times in high school and when she would go out with Frankie and their friends, but the biggest difference now was that Frankie wasn’t here.
“It’s nice to meet you Adam Walker.” She stuck out her own hand to meet his and shook it gently. “Layla Cooke. And no. I’m actually from the South, but I decided to give White Crest a shot. What about you?”
----------------
“Going to college here,” Adam replied, keeping his expression neutral as the touch of her hand brought a rush of inhuman wrongness into his nervous system. The conditioned response of adrenaline entered his veins, years of training and violence filling Adam’s brain with visions of throwing Layla against the mental counters and slamming her skull against the tile floor over and over..
Focus. This is a public place. He knew nothing about her.
“Part of Delta Iota Epsilon,” Adam continued, and  shoved a thumb towards the sleeveless t-shirt with the acronym of DIE he was wearing. “Parties all night on Friday and Saturday,” Layla received another appraising look that was devoid of shyness or shame. “You should come check it out...you’d be a great fit,” he assured with a slow nod.
----------------
“Yeah, I’m hoping I can go there one day, when I’m able to get my life in order.” She slowly pulled her hand back and let it drop to her side. She couldn’t tell anything different about Adam, just that he seemed to be a huge flirt. It was weird talking to a college guy, considering they were probably about the same age. But after the bite, life just didn’t seem real anymore.
Seeing him motion to his shirt, she smiled, but something about the letters he was pointing to began to make her uneasy. His smile never seemed to falter though, “You know, I wasn’t as big into the party scene as one might think. My parents weren’t too keen on the idea of their only child going out and getting drunk on the weekend.” No, instead they had her training how to hunt and kill werewolves and other creatures of the night. “But I guess one party sometimes couldn’t hurt.”
Looking past Adam, Layla had noticed it was starting to get dark outside, and that meant that the moon would be coming up sooner than she would have liked, “Well, this has been fun, but I think it’s about time I head home, you know, with it getting dark and all.” Layla started to feel faint and sweat slowly began to build on her brow.
----------------
Adam’s sinewy shoulders shrugged. “Sounds like a drag...but guess its better than them now caring?” The footballer seemed a little uncertain on that last point. “But hey definately welcome anytime.”
She excuses herself and Adam had far more preparations to complete before the moon was high. “Yeah no prob see you arou….um, Lyra” (it was an L name right?) “you ok?”
----------------
“Uh, yeah, I guess.” She was starting to get worried for multiple reasons. “I’ll look you up.”
Layla began moving forward, but stumbled slightly. And there it was. The feeling she dreaded with a passion of a million fiery suns, “Layla. It’s Layla.” Forcing back the lump in her throat, she looked to him with an uneasy smile, “Yeah. Totally. Just need some water.” She began looking around for a cooler with drinks in them. She had to get away from him. Had to get out of the store. Get home.
----------------
Adam frowned in concern as L-chick stumbled. Her weak smile only deepened his downturned expression. Adam went down one of the aisles to the coolers in the back. He placed a water bottle by ?Laura? And went up to the cash register to pay.
“Any better,” he inquired upon returning.
----------------
Layla felt like she was going to leave a lung on the floor of the store. Seeing the water, she grabbed the bottle and opened it, chugging it down. She had never changed in front of anyone before. She had always managed to find privacy, but tonight might have been the night, and Adam was the last person she wanted to know or see what she was.
Finishing the water in one long drink, she let the empty bottle fall to the floor, “Thank you. A little, but I really...I’ll see you around, yeah?” Heading for the door, she forced the door open allowing the cool night air to hit her in the face causing some relief to her pale, clammy skin.
---------------
After a courteous goodbye Adam gave Layla a minute or so headsteart. He was strapped for time but his instincts were picking up weird vibes here. All kids of weird shit went down around the Full Moon, furry and otherwise. If this chick were a supernatural and acting weird, then that's something he needed to follow up on for security’s sake, at least until he was sure it wasn’t going to be a public incident or Pet Shop of Horrors in some back alley.
Adam’s eyesight wasn’t human, thus he could give Layla a very wide berth while trailing her, keeping it casual and hoping to blend in with the crowd.
---------------
With each passing moment, Layla could feel her human side getting weaker and the beast growing stronger. She just wanted to shed her skin and feel better. To have this continual growing ache to disappear, so the animal inside her could be free, but at the same time, she wanted it under control. So far, with every shift, she hadn’t been able to remember what had happened the night before, and it scared her. Hurting someone or something was the last thing she wanted to do, but everytime it happened, Layla seemed to wake up covered in some kind of blood.
Clutching at her side, she could already feel things starting to happen, and the pain had been worse from her little scuff with Francesca and Orion a few days prior. Unable to control it, Layla let out a yowl of pain. With people staring at her, she began running back towards the place that had been discussed with Celeste as a good place to be locked up for this very occasion.
---------------
Adam darted into the back allies, mentally visualizing the direction Layla was probably heading. Unimpeded by the crowd, the Hunter place the purchased gear in his backpack and broke into a full sprint, vauling over obstacles, and scale fences in a few alacitious motions. Adam let his mutant physiology take control, hurtling forward over, around, and through the gaps in obstacles as he tried to gain on Layla.
He swung over a chainlink fence and out into the street again. He advanced after Layla with cold purpose, feet pounding on the broken sidewalk. “Heya Layla…,” he piped up, warm amiable tone not matching the hard agates of his eyes. “You ok?...Do you need me to call emergency services?”
---------------
Her mind was focused on getting to safety. She just wanted to be left alone, aside from someone to keep watch to make sure she stayed locked up. Layla definitely didn’t want to die, but if she had gotten out, she knew it was a real possibility and one she could support, despite her every effort to convince her parents not to hunt or kill wolves, but to subdue them by safer means.
However, her ears had picked up on something as she was scrambling to get home. The sound of feet hitting the ground at a rapid pace, and it wasn’t long until she knew exactly whose feet it was chasing after her. “Adam?” Her eyes were filled with shock, but also worry, “I don’t know how you got here. Or why.” By now she had a pretty good idea why, “But it’s not safe okay? That’s all I’m saying. So you need to leave.” She hated being blunt, but she couldn’t handle the possibility of attacking him or lashing out unintentionally.
---------------
Adam advanced in firmly purposeful steps, his expression steadily losing its warmth until it had cooled into an iron neutrality. Eyes that once regarded her with playful lewdness were now sizing her up with a calculation that held a surgical edge, something to be assessed and possibly disposed of rather than a woman to court.
“Why is it not safe Layla,” he asked with level calm.
---------------
Layla’s strength was diminishing. She was going to have to change sooner rather than later, and along with her strength, her patience was growing thin. It was the animal inside that made her want to lash out and rip his head off, but she resisted the urge, knowing deep down inside, she couldn’t live with herself if she ever did hurt someone, “Because, Adam, I’m not feeling too good, and I wouldn’t want you to get sick…” She looked over to him, the softness of her own expression gone and easily turning into something harder.
---------------
Adam looked around at the courtyard we were in. Cracked cement and empty storefronts long closed where dotted around them. Small plants and mosses eaked out starved existences in the small fissures spidering through cement and tarmac. The dusk cast waning crepular light over the patch of urban decay that Layla and Adam found themselves. The street’s activity was muted in the distance. “Thanks, that's very considerate of you,” Adam said, still advancing. He lifted a necklace from under his thin shirt. A six-pointed star caught the wan light, pure silver contrasting with the young man’s skin, still ruddy red from the sprint over here.
“You should really let me help walk you home though,” Adam said, winding the sliver symbol through his fingers as he drew closer. “This town can be pretty dangerous at night.”
---------------
Layla hadn’t yet been in contact with silver, since the night she received the bite that changed her. Seeing the glint in the rising moon, the girl’s demeanor completely changed and a low guttural growl escaped her lips, “What do you want with me?” Her body ached and the animal raged inside of her begging to escape, but the moon still hung too low in the night sky. Her breathing was rapid, and she could feel the sickness in her growing, “Are you gonna kill me? Is that why you won’t just leave me alone?” Tears formed in her eyes. Was tonight the night Layla was going to die at the hands of a hunter not much older than she?
She continued to move forward. Her only goal at this point was trying to make it back to Celeste, unless a fight were to ensue, which there was a very good chance she wouldn’t survive.
---------------
Perhaps seeing that subterfuge held no further purpose, Adam reached his free hand behind his back and under his shirt and withdrew one of the two blades he kept there. A cruelly serrated and silvered tactical knife danced easily in the Hunter’s fingers as he readied it.
“Depends,” Adam said coldly, keeping a steady pace but not yet rushing forward. “Where’re you going this Full Moon? If you're going to be out and about then yeah,” the athlete affirmed with a shrug of his shoulders. “You’d be too much of a danger to let live.”
---------------
Layla’s entire body was starting to ache, but she knew she was getting closer to where she needed to be. However, it didn’t deter Adam from continuing to follow along or threaten her. Finally at her wits end and her breathing growing shallow, she stopped and confronted him, “I’m trying to get to the place I was told to go so I can lock myself up, you nosey piece of human garbage.” Sweat was pouring down her pale face, and it was taking everything within her not to just give up and let the monster take control of her body.
---------------
Adam stopped when Layla did, posture slightly slanted as he kept his weight ready on his back foot. The insult didn’t seem to phase him however her claim provoked a moment of contemplation, brawny arms folded in front of him. However the way the silver tactical knife was nevertheless held in the outermost arm in readiness hinted at the deception within this face of casualness. The muscles within the Hunters arms and shoulders were still taut and knotted in this state of stillness, as if he genuinely expected Layla to drop this obvious charade and lunge at him any second.
“Really now.” Dubiety dripped from the worlds as tawny eyebrows raised in an expression that asked Layla if she ...really...wanted to play this way. There came another shrug. “Cool, let’s go and make sure you’re chained up nice and safe.”
---------------
Layla knew hunters. She knew the tricks they played. She was taught how to play games by her parents. And if she had really wanted to snack on his flesh, she would have done it already, but the idea of meat grossed her out, and that idea still lingered behind all the rage and thirst bottled up inside her, “Geeze, yes. Really. Quit acting like a smug, fuckboi hunter and just help me get to the place I’m going. Unless you’re really just looking for a fight, because, yes, you’d probably win. I’m a baby wolf that doesn’t know shit, except animal instinct, which you’re going to experience, if you don’t quit slowing me down. Embrace this moment, you ass. Cherish it, because I’m sure it’s not often you get a willing participant to play your little cat and mouse game that actually just wants to go lock herself up.” She growled at him, before resuming the walk at a quicker pace. She was dispelling more energy, but if it got her away from him and in chains faster then so be it.
---------------
Adam let out an exhalation that evinced that confusion was stronger then frustration. “Yup, it definitely is different,” he admitted while keeping pace. “This isn’t cat and mouse so much as if you're lying, I size you down to fit in those dumpsters,” Adam replied with tactless frankness, nodding towards some waste receptacles they passed.
“Kay, so should I hold you up, carry you..” Adam asked in a more amenable tone, not about to throw an angry she-wolf over his shoulder without permission.
---------------
Layla rolled her eyes at his comment about the dumpsters, “Let me make it easier on you, Adam. You don’t have to size me to fit into anything. I know I fit in dumpsters for a fact. No shame here, because it’s where I used to get my food. So if you want to murder me, then go ahead.” She had almost regretted saying that. Almost.
The teenager closed her eyes in defeat, before reopening them and training them on the hunter in front of her, “If you think you can get me there faster, then be my guest.” She held out her arms waiting for him to pick her up.
---------------
There Hunter shook his head at his quarry and companions second slip into submitting before the knife. “Not that I don’t appreciate an easy kill to move the night along and all,” he began. “But you give up too easy Layla. It doesn’t matter if you’re small or young. Hit the right tendon it doesn’t matter. Fuckin dead is dead.”
On that cheery note, the Hunter put away the silver chain and sheathed his blade. He took the girl into his arms and hefted her weight without visible effort. This done, the athlete took off in a brisk run that steadily accelerated as the mutant fell into a stride that’d have had most fully-human soldiers panting before long.
“So, where is this place?”
---------------
He was right. She did give up too easily. Somehow she had made it this long on her own, but why? Why had she still been spared? Layla couldn’t figure it out. The one thing she did know was that she was angry at the world. Her parents. The wolf who had bit her. The people who had turned her away when she was at her lowest…
The only semblance of hope that had started to return was the day Ariana had offered her a hot meal and a bed to sleep in.
Feeling him lift her up, without resisting, she tried to hold herself up so as to not put all of her weight on him, but it didn’t seem to be much of an issue, “It’s deep in the woods, just past the drive-in theater. Adam, why are you helping me? Why not just kill me when you had the chance?”
---------------
“Because it's not the killing that’s important,” Adam huffed as he continued in a boot camp pace up various hills, across cul de sacs, vaulting over property fences using his free hand, and ignoring the residents cry of outrage as he just took the next fence at a run without responding to their questions.
“It’s about removing threats to mankind,” he continued between breaths while running off the paved streets onto the more rugged roads that signaled one was drawing nearer to the drive-in-theatre and woods. “If you stay out during the full moon then you’ll lose control and be a threat to everyone.”
Dusk deepend and shadowed lengthened, even with the Hunter’s superhuman stamina nightfall proved an implacable pursuer.
“But if you're inside and chained up then you’re not a threat and I don’t have to kill you,” the Hunter finished with the brutally linear logic that the Code demanded. “Me helping you means less people die.”
---------------
Layla latched onto Adam. He was so much stronger than he looked, and she was impressed. And as she watched the town fly by as he ran, she listened to him explain the answer to her question. The fact that he didn’t outright want to kill her, she could respect, and it reminded her of the many arguments she had with her mother and father about that very issue; killing. However, where they differed was that she didn’t want to kill at all. She had just wanted to subdue the beast, despite knowing that there were wolves and other creatures that would kill regardless. And it’s part of the reason she was in the situation she was currently in.
“Well, I can respect that, and I greatly appreciate you giving me a chance. Not all of us want to be killing machines. Some of us just want to be normal human teenagers that go to college and spend time with their girlfriends and paint our nails.” She sighed. “And not have to be locked up every time there’s a full moon.”
She rested her forehead into his shoulder in defeat getting a whiff of his body spray, “Huh, you actually smell really good.” Looking up, she noticed the small structure just up ahead. “There. Celeste should be waiting.”
---------------
“You’re welcome,” grunted Adam as he leapt over the makeshift barricade at the far end of the drive-in theatre. Cicadas whined as the Hunter bounded through the open field towards the woods. Tall grasses and thorns tore at his fatigues, staining the light beige with slashes of green and yell as his breakneck pace barreled through dandelions and knots of knee-height weeds. The air was filled with the smell of fields yielding to the seedy pungence of the woods.
“Heh well I can’t really pretend to know what normal is like,” admitted the mutant who as a child needed to be carefully taught how to interact with non-Hunters so he didn’t accidently break his classmates.  “Glad your’re more ...Ya-Ya sisterhood stuff then... murder though,” he huffed as they cleared the treeline, branches snapped with like firecrakers under his pounding feet. “And I guess that’s just life ...when you got’ crazy moon virus,” he said with characteristic tactlessness on the matter of being locked up. “It isn’t fair...but that shits the breaks. “Heh, you mention your girlfriend ...then tease me with the smelling good and getting up close in my grill like that,” Adam noted with a hoarse laugh as they entered the home stretch up towards the woodland house, blinking as sweat stung at his eyes. “You're cruel,” he joked. While the relative intimacy of her so up close against him might’ve been more..distracting...under different circumstances, Adam was actually more concerned about Layla shifting in his arms and taking a big ‘ol bite out of his neck.
“Kay here we are, not much time”
---------------
Layla continued to stay latched on, but she could feel her body starting to make miniscule changes. Things got a little brighter in the night. Smells were more apparent and distinct. And she started to feel sick again. She had done a good job of suppressing it as Adam raced her towards the safety of a makeshift cage, but it was getting harder now. And she could start to hear the blood pumping through his veins, which left her mouth watering. But, of course, she kept her sudden needs on the DL.
“Crazy moon virus. Best name for it yet.” She felt her arms go around him a little tighter in both a manner of trying to hold on, but for deeper innate reasons. She was praying they would make it there soon, and despite him being kind of an ass, she didn’t want to hurt him. There was something about him that she valued, especially considering he was willing to risk his life to get her to where she desperately needed to be.
“What can I say? I must just be a heartbreaker.” She laughed weakly as they inched closer, and when they had finally made it, she slid off his back, nearly collapsing to the ground. Her eyes searched for Celeste as she tried to make her way to her feet, “Celeste! Please tell me you’re here...Please be here…”
---------------
As it got darker, Celeste found her nerves were dancing under her skin. Layla should have been here by now. She’d headed over to their spot early to ensure the chains were set up and ready to go for Layla. After many tests to make sure they’d be safe, she’d waited patiently, her fingers idly drumming over the tranquilizer gun on her hip. Except as the sky got darker, her patience soon wore thin. She was practically pacing a hole into the ground beneath her feet.
When she heard people approaching, she briefly felt relieved until she heard another voice with Layla’s. Her brow furrowed, she wasn’t keen on anyone else knowing about this spot. “Layla,” she called out, running toward Layla and the man carrying her. She looked over him carefully, waiting for him to set her down. “You’re late,” she said simply before asking, “And who is this?” With Ariana not too far off, Celeste felt on edge having someone else here.
---------------
If Layla consented, Adam set her down. He leaned back and placed both sinewy arms behind his head. The run here carrying another person had been taxing even by Hunter standards, and the footballer’s shoulders rose and fell in a steady rhythm as he tried to get some breath back.
“Adam,” he said with a flushed grin despite his brown eyes scanning the area, looking for if this lock-up was legit or if his sweaty gullible ass was about to be ambushed at this murder-cabin. “It’s ok, I’m used to hot gingers climbing me like a tree.”
He looked to the sky and then cautiously between both women. “So...where’s this safety room?”
---------------
“I know. I got held up.” She shot Adam a look. But as the moon was nearly high in the sky, the young wolf started to feel a more severe shift, and without being able to control it, cried out in pain. It was starting, and if Layla didn’t get chained up soon, then bad things were bound to happen.
Stumbling towards Celeste, Layla’s eyes held agony, “Do it. Whatever you’ve gotta do, do it.” She had done this many times alone, but there was no one around her that she feared she would consume. Of course, that wasn’t to say she hadn’t eaten people before, she just couldn’t remember it, and that always scared her.
Looking between Celeste and Adam, she had hoped they would both be safe and leave when need be. She had also wondered about Ariana, and if she was being locked up as well, but she didn’t want to say anything with fear of Adam trying something.
---------------
The idea of bringing a stranger into the space she’d set up was not something Celeste was keen on doing. Gently grabbing on Layla’s arm, she looked at Adam with narrow eyes. “I’m Celeste. If you haven’t noticed, I don’t really have time to give you a tour.” There wasn’t much time for a debate either, so she led Layla over to the abandoned underground room she’d found. It’d taken a little work to get the chains adequately reinforced and Ulfric didn’t love the idea, but it was what Layla wanted. If this Adam followed then he followed. Once Layla was restrained, she could pay more attention to him and determine if he was a threat.
Layla’s pain was apparent as her bones were shifting. She rushed down the stairs of the abandoned building and kept Layla close to her, placing the cuffs of the chains around her wrists as quickly as she possibly could before looking back to see if he had followed.
--------------- Adam would like to say that he was the kind of person that could’ve just accepted that this Celeste chick, though she felt human to his Hunter senses, was some nice wonderful person who definitely wouldn’t just let the almost shifted out to run free and gnaw off citizen’s gnads. Celeste’s concern looked genuine.
But Adam’s life hasn't been the kind that really left much room for faith in anyone. Faith was too dangerous.
Thus, he followed the two women with a feigned expression of mere idle curiosity.
---------------
Following Celeste as she grabbed onto Layla’s arm, the young wolf could already feel the crack and tearing of bone and muscle begin. But it wasn’t long before she was on the ground being chained up. It was the first time the girl had ever had chains around her body, and it scared her. But her mind couldn’t process words to speak from the pain that was taking over her form.
Curling up into a fetal position, she wailed out in pain as the horrific transformation continued to take place. It seemed like an eternity, before all was said and done, but when she had fully shifted, she lay on the floor panting, regaining her strength, before she managed to climb onto her two hind legs. She was smaller than most of the wolves, but she stood at least another foot taller than she previously had. Her fur was a warm, reddish-orange, and her eyes glowed brightly.
Sniffing the air, she looked around until she had laid eyes on Celeste and Adam. Food. Lunging came naturally, but she was quickly jerked back and hit the floor moaning slightly, before crawling forward trying to reach out swatting at both the hunters, but restrained from the large, heavy chains.
---------------
Celeste watched closely as Layla transformed, making sure the chains held. When she lunged and got jerked back immediately, she allowed herself to relax  a little and look back over to the man who’d brought Layla here. “Adam,” she said slowly, “I suppose a thank you is in order. I appreciate you getting her back here safely.”
She scanned him carefully, he was young and looked strong. It seemed likely they had a shared background, but he’d brought her here instead of killing her. “So, I can assure I have things under control here. I went through rigorous testing with the chains and have a little help handy if I need it.” She patted the tranquilizer gun on her hip, “Do you normally pick up shifting werewolves on the full moon?”
--------------- “No problem Ma’am,” Adam said in a distant distracted voice as he looked on the russet monstrosity that Layla had become. The air of inhumanity Layla brought to his Hunter sense came off the Werewolf in choking waves now that she’d shed her human shape. The silver knife tucked secured in the back of his pants under the sweat-soaked shirt seemed to dig painfully into his spine. There was a moment of regret where Adam’s heart faltered in the conviction that was the right choice.
Look at that thing. Why save Layla when it just meant that an innocent would likely pay the price for Adam’s weakness on a future full moon?
Adam pressed the thought from his mind, knowing first hand where that line of reasoning often led.
“Thank you for making sure the creature’s secure,” the Hunter said with an unconscious lapse into depersonalization. “Not usually how I roll,” he admitted, brown eyes drawn again to the luminous gaze of the straining lycanthrope. “But this seems a regular thing for you...Celeste, right?”
---------------
The young, wild animal paced back and forth knowing she was limited in her range on the chains, but she was hungry. Saliva dripped from her long fangs as she continued to snarl and growl at the two humans in her presence. And when innate hunger became too overpowering again, she took a harder lunge, only to be yanked back once again; her efforts proving fruitless.
Any indication of Layla was gone. She was just an animal looking to fill her stomach with anything, and they had been her targets. She was young and dumb, still new in her ways as a werewolf. She had many lessons to learn, but right now she was running simply on endorphins and the animal instinct that had come with the curse.
---------------
She wasn’t sure why it was so hard for her to believe that maybe another hunter had a more reasonable code than her parents had, but Celeste would be grateful for it. She’d have to find a new spot for the next month though. She didn’t want anyone outside of them knowing where they were. Too much of a risk. “I see,” she said, calmly and slowly, blinking a few times before she finally added, “I think I can figure out the rest, thank you.”
With a more serious face, she assured, “It is, yes. I’ll make sure she’s on time next time. She cut it entirely too close for my liking.” She let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. Just another layer to this whole fucked up puzzle of keeping both the kids and others safe. She figured she’d refrain from mentioning the bit about being what her parents would call a deserter. Most didn’t take kindly to that. ---------------
Although this particular encounter had ended happily, Adam’s night had really only begun. By this point those wolves that were still out had already changed, and Adam’s duty shifted from containment to elimination. “Thank you ma’am appreciate it,” the Hunter said, wishing he still had enough faith left to take Celeste’s assurance at face value.
Making a polite excuse to leave, Adam began the long trek back to town to retrieve his supplies and take up the night’s patrol
----------------
“No problem,” Adam said with a lavisciously distracted grin.
---------------
Adam would like to say that he was the kind of person that could’ve just accepted that this Celeste chick, though she felt human to his Hunter senses, was some nice wonderful person who definitely wouldn’t just let the almost shifted out to run free and gnaw off citizen’s gnads.
---------------
“No problem Ma’am,” Adam said in a distant distracted voice as he looked on the russet monstrosity that Layla had become.

If the above suggestions do not resolve a concern with an abnormal noise, service may be needed. View a short video about abnormal sounds: Download a copy of the Installation Instructions. Refer to the installation instructions for more information about this sound. The water lubricates the pump seals and keeps them quiet. The sound may also occur if the dishwasher is run after an extended period of time without any use.Īdd two quarts of water to the bottom of the tub and the noise should go away. This can cause a "squeal" or "rattling" sound the first time it is used. Squealing or Rattling Pump Noise: If the dishwasher is new, it may not have any water in it. For more information, view: Dishwasher - Lower Spray Arm Not Spinning. The spray arms must be able to rotate freely for good wash performance. To solve the problem, rearrange dishware inside the dishwasher to provide clearance for the spray arms. Rhythmic Knocking or Thumping: This is most likely caused by the spray arm hitting something inside the dishwasher as the spray arm rotates.

If the noise is not present, please consult the Owner's Manual for loading suggestions. To determine if a rattling noise is caused by a loading issue, run the dishwasher again without any dishes. This rattling sound can be hard to distinguish from normal motor noises. Make sure the dishes and utensils are secure and not banging together. Rattling: While the dishwasher is in operation, the action of the water circulating inside the tub can cause the dishes to rattle and lightweight plastic objects can sometimes be forced out of the rack. For more information, see Dishwasher - Cause of Water Hammer. Please contact a local plumber to have an anti-hammer device installed. Pipe Rattling/Banging/Booming: This is a household plumbing issue called water hammer.

For information on how to correct a dishwasher water filling issue, visit: Dishwasher - Not Filling With Water. Grinding: Occurs when no water is in the dishwasher and the circulation pump is running. Shut the door and press Start to allow the dishwasher to resume the cycle. The following is a list of Abnormal sounds:īeeping: Occurs when the dishwasher is opened mid-cycle (including the dry portion of the cycle). View a short video about normal dishwasher noises: Whining Noise: The dishwasher wash pump motor can make a whining sound when operating. Swishing or Sloshing: The dishwasher will make a swishing noise as the water is sprayed around inside the tub during the wash and rinse portions of the cycle. On some models: You may hear a snap from the door latch as you open and close the dishwasher. When the door is opened at the end of the cycle, you may hear a snap as the cup opens fully. On flip cover detergent cups: The cover only opens to a 90-degree angle when in the wash cycle. Snapping When Opening the Door: It is normal to hear a snapping sound when the detergent cup opens as it hits the door or upper rack. Loud Snap Mid-Cycle: It is normal to hear a snapping sound when the detergent cup opens. Some models do not have drain solenoids, so this sound will not be heard on all models. This will happen several times during each cycle and is dependent on the model and options selected. Each time it begins to drain a solenoid energizes which causes a definitive snapping sound. Throughout the Cycle: A dishwasher fills and drains several times during the wash and rinse portions of the cycle. If your dishwasher pauses briefly or seems to start and stop during the draining period, this is normal operation. This helps pump out food debris more effectively. Pausing During Drain: The drain pump starts and stops several times during each drain. The soft food disposer may be grinding up food waste. The fan that cools the main pump motor is rotating. Humming: The dishwasher motor may make on and off humming sounds during operation that are normal. This type of sound will be heard when the dishwasher is changing cycles for example, when the dishwasher moves from circulation mode to pump-out mode. Some models of dishwashers with electronic controls have a motor driven electrical switching device in the control panel. The following is a list of Normal sounds:Ĭlicking or Grinding Sound in the Control: Dishwasher models with a Timer (Knob) control and some models with electronic controls will make clicking sounds as the dishwasher progresses through its cycle. Here are some of the normal and abnormal sounds you may hear and suggestions to correct abnormal sounds. Abnormal sounds sometimes have easy solutions to eliminate the sound. Pros and Cons of Owning a Top Load and Front Load Washing Machine
Tumblr media
Planning to buy yourself a perfect laundry partner? Picking the right washing machine becomes difficult when you have so many options to choose from, fully-automatic, semi-automatic, front load, top load fully automatic washing machine, and what not! First let’s understand the difference between Semi-Automatic washing machine and Fully Automatic as per your washing needs. You can always grab these online but before you go ahead, check out these pointers to help you make an informed buying choice.
1. The Cleaning Process:
Washing machines were meant to make the task of doing laundry easier than hand washing. The human effort during the cleaning process is less with a top load fully automatic washing machine because all you have to do is, load it and then press a button. Top loaders have the added benefit of having the lid opening up so you don’t have to strain your back while adding laundry.
With a semi automatic washing machine however, manual input is required because you need to add water to the washing tub, analyze the appropriate water level to soak your clothes. A Fully Automatic on the other hand fills up water automatically by measuring the load inside. Then next thing is dissolving the right amount of detergent before loading the machine. Then, once the wash cycle is completed, clothes need to be moved to the spinning drum for rinsing and drying. You also need to be there to close the water tap once the cycle finishes.
2. Design:
A fully automatic washing machine consists of just one tub where your clothes are washed, rinsed and dried. With everything happening in one tub, maintenance and cleaning is easier.
On the other hand, in a semi-automatic washing machine, there are two tubs, one bigger than the other. One tub cleans the laundry and the other one rinses and dries it. Although as semi-automatic machines take less time to clean in one cycle, you should know that over all you have to spend more time taking into account the time that is spent between washing and moving the load to the other tub.
3. Type of Washing Machines in the Market:
There are two types of fully automatic machines - Top load fully automatic washing     machine or a front loading machine. The two differ in design and the functional difference between these two is, the location of the door.
A.      Top Loading machines are loaded from the top by lifting the lid. This Machine is narrower in size and cheaper on the pocket. It works by simply setting the desired functions of your wash, and then the rest is taken care of. They are usually more convenient since you don’t have to bend over to load and unload the clothes. These machines also give you the flexibility to add clothes in mid-cycle, or even right after starting the cycle. These also distribute fabric softener better than front-load.
B.      Front Loading washers have a door on the front side, hence loaded from the front. Usually more expensive, this type of washing machine gives better wash quality. It is not only gentler on the clothes, but also perfect for washing larger items, like, comforters and pillow. These machines have long wash cycles with tumble wash and many more wash features to accommodate all fabric types and soil level. They are far more quiet, use less water and electricity.
4. Water Consumption:
Here is where a semi automatic washing machine has an edge over the other. Since you fill the water manually, this allows you control over how much water you spend in each load, making it ideal for regions with water shortage, or areas where the force of water is less. Fully automatic washing machines, specifically the top loader uses more water since it is needed to rise to a level where the clothes are completely submerged to spin freely to get the best washing results. So if your major concern is saving on water, you should opt for a semi-automatic washer. Both the kinds of washers are available in the market by top brands like Panasonic, IFB, LG, etc. so you can choose without having to worry about quality, service, etc.
5. Cost of Purchase:
A semi -automatic machine is cheaper than a fully automatic machine and If you are not concerned about the manual effort then, you will make a great saving when you buy a semi-automatic.
In conclusion, If you need to save space, efforts, and get ease of washing clothes, go for a fully automatic. If your major concern is to save water and electricity bills, and the purchase price, choose a semi- automatic. We hope this guide helps you make a good buying decision.

7 Ways to Make Laundry Easier
1.  Sort as you go
Instead of wasting time sorting clothes into loads on laundry day, sort as you go with multiple hampers. This will take away that extra step on laundry day. It also allows you to customize your loads of laundry how ever you prefer.
If you like to wash each family member’s laundry separately, set your hampers up and label them with each person’s name. If you prefer to wash loads by color or texture, label each hamper that way. On laundry day, take each hamper one at a time to the laundry room and simply transfer all the clothes from the hamper to the washer. No sorting necessary!
2.  Stain treat as you go
Just like sorting laundry, stain treatment on laundry day can take a ton of time (especially if you have messy kiddos). The time and energy it takes to look at each piece of clothing from the hamper, one-by-one. Then, treating all the stains BEFORE you can start the washer is a pain.
Instead, treat them as you go by keeping some of your favorite stain treatment near the hamper. Examining one outfit before it goes into the hamper is much more manageable
3.  Use zippered mesh bags
You know the ones I’m talking about. Most people refer to them as delicate wash bags or lingerie bags. You can find cheap ones at the dollar store, or in the laundry basket/ hamper/ ironing board aisle at your favorite one-stop-shop store like Target or Walmart. There, you’ll find a wider variety of sizes and a range or “porousness” (space between the holes in the mesh. It’s a good idea to have a few different options on hand to accommodate all of your clothing items. You can use thicker mesh (smaller holes) for delicate items such as sweaters, blouses or item with lace, special bags with a bit of structure for bras or large, thin bags for other items.
How does this help move things along? You can separate items that need to be air-dried into their own zippered bag, so you don’t have to waste time fishing them out between the washer and the dryer. Additionally, you can eliminate time spent hand washing certain items or separating them into an additional “delicate” cycle load simply by washing them right along with a normal load of clothes. The mesh bag, particularly the thicker ones will protect *most* items from everything else and cushion them during the spin, similar to the gentle cycle.
To make this work best, buy zippered mesh bags with a “hidden” zipper that stays shut firmly during the wash cycle. You can opt to put multiple items inside one mesh bag. Just be sure not to overfill so that soap and water can move freely into the bag and reach each garment entirely.
4.  Separate into fewer loads
Mesh bags can also help you cut down on the number of loads you wash. Obviously, fewer loads = less time and hassle, plus, studies show that a full load is cleaned more effectively and efficiently than a load with just a few items. Just be sure you don’t overstuff the washer or dryer. A good rule of thumb is to fill the machine until it’s ¾ full so that the items can get equal attention from you detergent and rinse thoroughly.
One way you can use mesh bags on your regular, wash & fold items is by separating each family member’s items into a zippered bag and washing them together. When it’s time to fold, you’ll have the items that go to each person’s room already separated! You can also solve the age-old “sock monster” mystery by putting all the socks in a bag together.
Another easy way to cut down on the number of laundry loads is by using color blocking cloths. Shout color catchers or Carbona color grabbers allow you mix your whites with colored and/ or dark items in the same load. Imagine the time you’ll save.
5.  Use the “Quick Wash” cycle
Does your washing machine have a “quick” cycle? Most these days do. Try it out! It generally takes about ½ the time as the “normal” cycle. You might wonder if the quick cycle actually cleans your clothes as well as the normal cycle. In my experience, the answer is YES!
6.  Wash less often
Some things need to be washed after every wear. T-shirts, undies, socks and, obviously stained or soiled items should be washed between wears. BUT, you can generally get more mileage out of a pair of jeans, dress slacks, panty hose, bras, towels and more. This tip requires a mental shift, so it’s not for everyone. That’s okay!
As a habit, most people throw all their clothes from the day into the hamper…it’s part of our routine. But some clothes can go a little longer from wash to wash. Sometimes, it’s obvious an item needs a good wash before it can be worn again. Those CAN go straight into the hamper! Otherwise, perform a sniff test. Does it still smell good? If so, hang it up to let it “air-out” and wear it again. I like to spray a little Febreze or linen spray on lightly worn clothes and then let them air-out. This is great for clothes that may not have been worn all day or that weren’t worn during some sweat-inducing activity. You’ll also get to enjoy these items longer since they won’t wear out as quickly.
7.  Make the dryer do the ironing
Do you make a habit of taking the clothes out of the dryer when the cycle is complete? If not, you’ve probably noticed the wrinkles that set in as the clothes cool down. Make a habit of taking them out right away.
If you’re not quite ready to start folding flat stack the items that tend to get wrinkly so they’ll be ready (and wrinkle-free) when you are. I fold pants right away since they tend to be quick. Then, hang the collared shirts and stack the t-shirts completely flat. Undies, socks, and other small items go into a laundry basket for later. I’m able to get the next load drying and keep the laundry momentum going
If you have any items with remaining wrinkles, just toss them into the dryer with a damp washcloth for 10-15 minutes. Voila!

Maximizing Efficiency: Tips for Drying Your Laundry
Tumblr media
Drying your laundry efficiently not only saves time but also reduces energy consumption, which is good for both your wallet and the environment. Whether you have a traditional electric dryer or rely on a natural clothes dryer method, there are several strategies you can employ to make the most of your laundry routine. We will explore various techniques and tips to ensure your clean clothes dries quickly and efficiently. Sort Your Laundry Before you even begin the drying process, it is a good idea and essential to sort your laundry properly. Separate lightweight items like t-shirts and sheets from heavier items like jeans and towels. Drying similar fabric loads of laundry together ensures that they dry at the same rate, reducing overall drying time. Optimize Your Washer's Spin Cycle When completing your laundry operation and using a washing machine, make sure to select the highest possible spin speed. A high spin cycle removes more water from your clothes, making the drying of your laundry quicker and more efficient.  Use Dryer Balls or Tennis Balls If you have a tumble dryer, consider adding a few rubber dryer balls or even tennis balls into the mix. These simple tips help separate and fluff your laundry and are one of the best ways to avoid static cling, allowing warm air to circulate more freely in the dryer drum. As a result, your clothing items will dry faster and come out less wrinkled. Maintain Your Dryer Neglecting regular maintenance can result in decreased efficiency and even potential safety hazards. One crucial aspect of dryer maintenance is cleaning the lint filter after each use. It may seem like a small task, but a clogged lint filter not only slows down drying time but also poses a fire risk. Taking just a few seconds to remove the lint build-up will not only improve dryer performance but also ensure your home's safety. Another important maintenance tip is to regularly inspect and clean your dryer's venting system. Over time, lint and debris can accumulate in the exhaust ducts, leading to reduced airflow and longer drying times. A blocked venting system can also cause excessive heat build-up, increasing the risk of a fire hazard. By checking for any obstructions or damage in the venting system and cleaning it at least once a year, you can keep your dryer running efficiently and reduce the chance of unexpected issues down the line. In addition to these essential steps, ensuring that your dryer receives proper ventilation is crucial for its longevity and efficient performance. Make sure that your appliance has enough space around it for airflow so that it doesn't overheat or strain itself unnecessarily. Consider having professionals periodically inspect and service your dryer to identify any underlying issues that may affect its functionality or safety. With proper care and attention, you can maintain optimal working conditions for your dryer while enjoying hassle-free laundry days! Try to Line Dry Whenever possible, take advantage of natural drying methods to avoid high utility bills. Hang your clothes on a clothesline for best results whenever possible or a drying rack in a well-ventilated area. The sun and wind are highly effective and energy-efficient ways for line drying your laundry. As an added benefit, your air-dry clothes will have that fresh, outdoor scent. Time It Right If you use a tumble dryer, try to start the drying cycle in the laundry room during off-peak hours. Electricity rates are often lower during these times, which can help you save on energy use plus energy costs. Additionally, in the warmer months consider using a timer to run your dryer during the coolest parts of the day to prevent it from overheating your home. Avoid Overloading Overloading your dryer or drying rack can result in uneven drying and longer drying times. Leave enough space between clothes for proper air circulation. If you have to run multiple small loads, it's still more efficient than drying clothes in one large load. Shake and Smooth Before hanging clothes on a line or laying them on a rack especially relating to delicate items give each item a good shake to remove excess moisture and smooth out wrinkles. This will reduce drying time in the long run and minimize the need for ironing. Don't Overdo Fabric Softeners One downside of using too much fabric softener is that it can leave residue on your clothes. This residue can build up over time and cause fabrics to become less absorbent, resulting in towels that don't dry as well or workout clothes that retain sweat and odour. Additionally, excessive use of fabric softeners can lead to skin irritation for those with sensitive skin or allergies. Another reason why you should be mindful of how much fabric softener you use is its impact on the environment. Many traditional fabric softeners contain chemicals that are harmful both to our waterways and aquatic life when they are washed down the drain after each load. By using less or opting for eco-friendly alternatives such as vinegar or baking soda, you can reduce your carbon footprint while still achieving softer laundry. Damp and Mould Drying laundry indoors seems like a convenient solution when the weather is gloomy or you simply don't have an outdoor drying space. However, did you know that this seemingly innocent act can be a major contributor to dampness and mould? When wet clothes are hung indoors, the moisture from them evaporates into the air, increasing humidity levels in your home. This excess moisture then settles on surfaces like walls and ceilings, creating the perfect breeding ground for mould to thrive. Ensuring good ventilation is crucial in combating dampness caused by drying laundry indoors. Opening windows or using exhaust fans can help expel excess moisture and prevent its accumulation on surfaces. Investing in a dehumidifier can also be an effective solution. By reducing humidity levels, these devices help to inhibit mould growth and maintain a healthier indoor environment. It is important to remember that not only does mould damage the feel of your home but it also poses potential health risks. Exposure to mould spores can trigger allergies and respiratory issues and even affect immune system function.  Consider Eco-Friendly Dryers If you're in the market for a new dryer, consider investing in a more energy-efficient model. Look for those with Energy Star certification, which signifies they meet specific energy efficiency standards. Eco-friendly dryers are designed with energy efficiency in mind. They use advanced technology to reduce energy consumption and minimize their environmental footprint. Some models use heat pump technology that recycles hot air from the drum and reuses it for subsequent loads, resulting in less energy waste. Others employ moisture sensors that detect when clothes are dry and automatically shut off the machine, preventing unnecessary power usage. Apart from being environmentally friendly, eco-friendly dryers also offer benefits for your clothing and your wallet. These machines often have gentle drying cycles that help prolong the lifespan of garments by reducing wear and tear caused by excessive heat exposure. They can save you money on your utility bills over time due to their reduced energy consumption. Conclusion Drying your laundry efficiently is not only a practical way to save time and energy but also an environmentally friendly choice. By following these tips, you can make the most of your laundry drying routine, whether you use a dryer or prefer natural drying methods. You'll enjoy fresh, dry clothes in less time while reducing your environmental footprint. Read the full article

Tumblr media Tumblr media
A change in ability- the transformation of removed functionality through a hospitalised body: Fruit as body - Fruit as soul- As damage. Developing my ideas around the mending of fruit in the last module, the text continues to metaphorically personify fruit as a way to conceptually connotate some form of ‘mending the broken’. The text speaks of fruits and objects with marks, stories and impurity.
Revisiting Artists-
Zoe Leonard, Strange Fruit, 1992-1997
I am still interested in how Strange Fruit presents the indexical qualities of objects as it metaphorically   “raises questions about the permanence of art, and whether it resides in objects, ideas, or people's experiences and memories.” (1).  Though the work has crude undertones, the beauty within its natural materials enables a  polemical discussion; of oxymoronic fragility.  A beauty yet grotesque darkness? Strange Fruit translates this powerful notion of cycles through the permanent impression of its impermanent materials. Encapsulating this temporal relevance within my concepts and physical matter between words, imagery and materials is something I want to continue as a way to explore the idea of fragility- The fragility of memories, spaces and bodies.
Tumblr media
“This mending cannot possibly mend any real wounds, but it provided something for me. Maybe just time, or the rhythm of sewing [. . .] Once the fruit is eaten, I sew it closed, restore its form. They are empty now, just skin. The fruit is gone. They are like memory; these skins are no longer the fruit itself, but a form reminiscent of the original. You pay homage to what remains” (2).
There is a play between the polarising embodiment of restoring the broken which I am fascinated by... The notion of reinventing ‘the decrepit’ through placement on a platform and special treatment.

Group Critique
The text shown translates a domesticated space, connotating the experience of home/body/fruit. The work needs to become physical: Start collecting, gathering, finding psychical matter to merge with the text. Allow the text to inform the gathering whilst the objects can inform the writing. Experiment with how these collections can interact with a space. How can negative space give weight or light to objects... Consider the importance of placement and curative decisions when experimenting with these installations. Less can be more- make critical decisions within curating these collections of words fruits and objects. Allow for mistakes: the emotional connection to the underlying weight of relating to a sense of broken body/ a need to mend, needs to be explored freely not preciously in order to develop this concept through experimentation. So, create a multiple of different works using films, objects, sounds and words. What is the intention of an object, how will the installation ‘parts’ inform each other and  interact.
Revisiting Artists-
Katrina Palmer- Archives
I am interested in Palmer’s work because it deals with , “storytelling, distributing fragmented elements of narrative across found sites, audio environments, printed matter and performance” (1). Her narration symbolises loss and memorial through thoughtfully layered fragments of sculpture, sound and text. These narratives  formulate through the involvement of multiple mediums reacting within a place or lack of it. The curative importance between space these collections instil a polarised feeling of history and current journey within the audience.
Tumblr media
Images of Portland Island, used by Katrina Palmer as a visual aid for her book, Dark Matter 2015
I have started a collection, an ‘archive’ of fragments that connect through their embodiment of fragility. To create new work, Palmer carries out extensive research by collecting text, files, websites, articles, photographs, sounds, objects and ideas; with this she creates an ‘archive’ of information. My installation of language will presents itself through an interactive use of multi medium elements and spaces. Furthermore, creating my own collection of gathered parts: my archive. As I rejoin scattered fragments I connect a relationship between text, objects and ideas. These created connections emulate the joining of broken-ness, in a cleverly connected yet nonsensical, illogical way.

The Text-Sound Art Pioneers in Fylkingen 1963 until today
Lars-Gunnar Bodin Sten Hanson Åke Hodell Bengt Emil Johnson Ilmar Laaban
The term “text-sound-composition”, or “text-sound-art”, came out of a discussion 1967 where the need for a new and neutral term for an activity which had been going on among composers and poets of crossing the bounds to the other area. It signifies neither text, nor music, but a field of its own between the two, an interface or an inter medium. In spite of this seeming narrow, it’s an immensely rich and encompassing field, and the pioneers from Fylkingen had the role of catalysing and expressing, every one on his own way, the needs of the time and also gathering the differentiated international movement in a number of text-sound-composition festivals
Although futurists and dadaists are often pointed out as initiators, many of the dissidents of the French “lettrist” movement, and the so-called Vienna group, a.o. are closer predecessors to text-sound-composition during the 50ies. For the becoming text-sound-artists in Fylkingen, musical influences were just as strong as the poetic, e.g. from Eimert, Stockhausen, Berio, Ligeti, Henry and Schaeffer who have all used treatments and expansions of the voice in their music.
1967-1971 around 20 members of Fylkingen gathered in a very active “language group” ... Images objects that relate within the realm of language and sounds
One motivation, which has been expressed for the text-sound-composing, is that  language doesn’t become an obstacle for the poet if the spoken, pronounced, aspect is amplified and also electronic treatment of recorded voice can be used. Live performances combined with multi-track tape played in loudspeakers, superimpossisions, reverse recordings, splitting into tiny parts, ring modulation and time manipulation are examples of what has been done. The borders to performance, electronic music, radio art, rite etc. become a little blurred and an intermedium between known art forms appear, i.e. the point of departure for a new art form with its own criteria.
Åke Hodell
Tumblr media
Åke Hodell {1919-2000} first emerged his experimentation with poetry during the long hospitalisation he endured from his  ‘serious aeroplane accident as an air force pilot’ {1}. Through out this time Hodell began to discover and practice using text as a revealing vessel for self expression.  Poet Gunnar Ekelöf accidentally ‘became his mentor and later also friend, and their first contact consisted of a list of necessary poets that Ekelöf wrote on a restaurant menu.’ {1} This romantical mentor-ship moulded Hodell’s use of words into a conceptually driven practice that grew to encapsulate his personal life experiences.
Hodell produces these narratives throughout his adoption of combining texts and sounds, in which his poetic material would refer to ‘aeroplane terminology’. Often enacting preformative readings, ‘Hodell prémiered as a “concrete poet” with a reading of “General Bussig” (General Buddy-Buddy) in 1963, with a forhead torch as the only stage light.’ {1} He used text and spoken word as a means to very directly narrate stories about military experiences with humorous and heart felt emotion,
‘’The recruit in General Bussig is created by the small letter i and goes through a verbal brain wash. i, however, is resisting and compares General Bussig, among other things, to a bumble-bee (“en humla”). On another occasion General Bussig’s name is travested. But in the end, i’s identity has been broken down and replaced by a new one. i has become an efficient soldier who blindly obeys orders.”
‘Hodell was an multifaceted artist. He just as well wrote books, theatre and radio theatre as film scripts, he made films and also expressed himself with image, sound and mime. One of the places he performed at was the Pistolteatern. General Bussig is just one of the many works in which he attacks militarism and injustice.’ {1}
Hodell’s unique stile interestingly narrates through using text-sound compositions, ‘The crude collage technique, repetitions, loops, voice choirs, propaganda music and archive recordings’ {1} combine as a striking experience of the merging and boundary braking within the relationship of poetry, sounds and storytelling.

Whats is my ‘sound’:  Music is a noise that is a word of sounds. I’m listening to the rubble and forgotten text...

Streets with no Doors, 2020,  Installation Shot: Sound-sculpture {speakers, objects, material, fruit peel}. Dimensions Variable.
Small speaker 1: suspended behind cloth.
Large speaker 2: situated at the back of the space (not visible in shadows).
This installation is inspired by extracts from text I have wrote; ‘Putrid pears, Streets with no doors, My broken chest that of draws, with floor without carpet...’ ‘plums bruised, fruit confused, a patient so rare... no apple to compare, chair ground bound going no where...’  This piece is about existing in a space that has uncomfortably. My body as a space and the space my body lies in. When I look back on my time in hospital, I remember the door-less streets, carpet-less floor. Could to touch and empty air. A nothing-ness filled with memory. My chest tight and my body batterd like a soft fruit...
This installation uses items from my archive, one being a fruit-less banana drilled to the wall- Dried for 2 months it is pinned, ‘arms’ outstretched risen above the other items. The second banana has been dried for a 3 weeks in a different shape, the thinly sliced crisp skin is curled in a spiral around itself. The shrivelled entangled lump of the second peel is discarded on the ground beneath the chair. The cloths are placed  in a manner to create thoughtful creases, with crevices casting shadows. The door of the space is open allowing light to pour in. This contrast between light and darkness plays with the notion of weight, time and fragility. This play of weight is further extended through out the suspension and placements of items at different levels. The bed pan sits on the chair with an essence of  purpose, suggesting some need for aid and repair through its heaviness and mobility.
There appears to be a repetitive undertone in my work to present a dichotomy, a juxtaposition between elements or to form a harmonious blend. This narrative of inconsistency of apposing and merging items put in a space together creates the inviting discomfort of the works conceptual narrative.
The sound component of this installation titled ‘Little Anne Street’, 2020, {5.39 min} is played on loop. It is important the sound is heard in loop as the shift between the end and the beginning creates a cyclical opposition to the work. The sound brings the work outside the comfort of a familiar space through the appropriation of outdoor sounds. I wanted to make Little Anne Street as a language-less sound version of my poems. My intention was to investigate the ways noise can up hold the same  poetic narration of a space as words. It challenges the stagnancy of the installation and  introduces an atmosphere with different avenues. I showed this installation to peers and they felt a heightened sensory experience with Little Anne Street incorporated as it also allowed them imagine the narrative of the objects in the space.
Realisation... of the gain within loss, through the importance of perspective. The chopping metal  in Little Anne Street , is my walking stick. A sound I am so familiar with yet didn’t notice. Streets with no Doors, looks to the past in a literal and conceptual way, I think there is also something to be said about my experience in the present. All that I have gained in this loss.
 ‘chronically ill- severe artist’
Panteha Abareshi, creates narratives exploring a ‘medicalised’ body through the appropriations, remakes and disfigurement of objects within a space. Abareshi’s work deals with a multi medium approach through using their body as a preformative tool to engage with these narratives. I am interested in the ways this artist expresses disability through the narration of objects, space and text as they deliberately blur the lines between these paradigms and the notion of ‘body’ and experience.
Tumblr media
Using inspiration from Abareshi’s adaptation of conceptual narratives,  I am thinking of ways I can engage my experiences of what it means to experience forms of ‘impairment’. Thus, the ways these experiences relate in the context of words objects and how or what spaces do they exist in.
Tumblr media
Tactile vision?
Like a child, I now learn once more to see the world. Navigating a lost ship, it can feel like I am five years old again lost it the supermarket looking for my mum. To see I must change my perspective... Extracts and analysis:
‘Lost baby, hollow tree’
‘A doves message’,
‘spent sleepless nights, the longing for daisies, petal-less meadow, the buried babe, now apricot to rot...’
Recently diagnosed with a multiple of sight disorders, I have in fact gained what most never experience; the birds have never been louder and the daisies have never smelt stronger. Cheesy right, well its not always a living Disney film... 40% of the time it just sucks if i’m honest. My sight has changes yes, but maybe I have never seen clearer? I want to continue writing bodies of text that encompass these ideas through the personification and metaphorical suggestions around fruit and domesticated spaces/ objects.
Fruit as a symbol of the temporal fragility that is, everything. Textures, smells and tastes as a new sight: a change in perspective.
‘GAP BE CLOSED’
Gap be closed, 2020, is an experimental film installation. The following shots document the experimentation of colour, size and compositional elements between fragments of the archive. These fragments include objects, fruits, sounds...
There are no installations only words-. There are no sculptures- only sound.
Tumblr media
Gap be Closed 2020, Film: {LINK}
This experimental film uses ‘de-skilled’ approaches to document a first person view on hospitalised bodies. The ill-like distortion of the quality, angular shots and distorted sounds depict the disorientation and difficulties of sight disorder testing in a hospital setting.
{The original film is 1 hour 34 minuets}, with this I would like to learn editing skills to splice up different shots from other filming I may make by documenting other appointments.
As the film goes on recording my time in hospital, the content draws focus on the space and feels like a never ending shot of discomfort. I would like to take this film further as I see potential for something exciting. The use of multiple shots and experimenting with splicing this imagery with sounds will create a gripping dynamic. However, for a de-skilled approach with a lack of editing knowledge I am happy the potential of this film.
Although the longevity of the last shot does loose the content it is a true documentation of the test itself and it does emulate the truth of the experience. So I would like to show this installation for my next group critique to get some feedback about my editing choices and gain some editing skills through the UWE film and sound software.
Tumblr media
Tutorial with technical support through Bower Ashotn fabrication:
Film development- From reflecting on how the ‘parts’ of this installation work in unison, I decided to edit the film to create warmer tones to connote nostalgically soft imagery. I want to move away from the typically cold narrative of a hospital space as a way to connect the objects and ‘parts’ within a shared space. Placing this film in a space shared by forgotten objects of metals and woods describes the  imprints of  bodies, memories and ‘broken-ness’. This installation of forgotten bodies uses a warmth I relate to my last project, How to Mourn an Orange, 2019.
Installation Development: Widening the projection powerfully frames the piece and allows for a play between  light and shadows. With the chair further forward it extends the work and picks up on the edges of light adding more texture and layering.

Reflecting on the last module, I was encouraged to reflect and analyse my work in more depth, it was one of my constructive criticism. So, I am trying to analyse although doing so it feel like I am making the work more important or ground breaking than it really is... Hmm.
Development: Encompassing the imagery of doors, walking, corridors, aged fruit and forgotten objects these is an importance around the notion of  movement. Possibly a journey or a memory.  The  different ‘parts’  encapsulate the hidden journey each ‘bit’ has endured. The process of searching and carefully selecting discarded, forgotten and lost fragments leads to this archive. GAP BE CLOSED conceptually challenges the dichotomy of lightness and darkness through distorted imagery, colour and spacial atmosphere. Such light and dark aspects are further questioned and polarised yet merged through the playfulness of giving importance to ‘the decrepit’ through curative placements.

Isolation archive experimentation Installations/Photographs:
How does the archive translate in a space of limitation, a space with domestic nostalgia and sense of claustrophobic stillness?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Using reflections in mirrors and DIY approaches to lighting placement and documenting, I am intrested in how an image can be encased within a reflection. This add a new dynamic to work with an importance of capturing and playing with perspectives through light and shape. The colour is something that my work connected with in the last module and although it continues to have a nostalgic thoughtful-ness, the potency of the colour may distracts from the emerging importance of perspective and shape.
What is the work? I think as installations the colour from the light is an important ‘object’ in achieving a warmness to the narrative. The light connects the archive through this sensory softness as the objects without coloured light become more disjointed and unsure within a space. However, as black and white photographs the installations gain a dramatic structure. The light and shapes of the object become important to the work as it creates a dramatic aesthetic. This is something I would like to experiment with more and makes me question what is the work...
Can the work exist as installations and photographs, how can they be merged. Do the installations work better as photographs or can the work be both...

Next, experiment with varying composition through changing the density of structures in a small space. To create photographs/ installations that encapsulate areas of density and others that allow for more space... Then reflect and analyse how the narrative of the work changes between the simplicity and density structures and how does the work hold different meanings when viewed as an installation or image.

I’ve been thinking about what my work is and I think that in some ways continually developing a persons practice revolves around curating and sharing that work? I think what my work does, is it reproduces itself in different perspectives- creating an installation, reproducing that in different spaces, with different objects or sounds, photographing it, then projecting the photograph and making another installation. The work continues in this cycle of development, and exists in different paradigms and it works for my use of materials and concepts.
But what is my work if I cant share it? I’ve been thinking of new ways to curate work without facilities, technical support and equipment and how this will or has already changed the work. There always has been a theme of domesticated objects in my collections because it conceptually narrates this idea of forgotten fragility and bodily experiences...But now the idea of ‘home’ is ever more prevalent. I want to use my new understanding of ‘what my work is’ and try make things that I can share with people in their own spaces.

Explore the low-fi limitations at my disposal- using such ‘limitations’ as rules for making work can be based on space, sound and perspective. Creating set ups of the ‘archive’ for installations, photographs and sculptural films {Recording sounds and films may be difficult as no equipment or laptop} directed in ways that experiment with time; one shot, varied perspectives- the play on time through light, darkness and length.

Space as Poetry
‘In truth, to me Rome was a kind of living poem, which the soul read unceasingly, with the soothed sense which poetry inspires’ {1}
The stillness or movement of a space or object encompassing the notion of living poetry.
‘To describe it as ‘a kind of living poem’,
...however, suggests not just the visual artist’s acute perception of the city’s distinctive appearance, but also a deep sensitivity to the overall tone, history and special atmosphere’ {2} How the structures, light and tone create a sensitivity and thoughtfulness. Nostalgia as feeling and space as words.
‘It was the union of deep feeling with profound thought; the fine balance of truth in observing with the imaginative faculty in modifying the objects observed; and above all the original gift of spreading the tone, the atmosphere, and with it the depth and height of the ideal world, around forms, incidents, and situations, of which, for the common view, custom had bedimmed all the lustre, had dried up the sparkle and the dewdrops’ (3)

Things to Know About mesh laundry bags
Tumblr media
If you are not using mesh laundry bags, you are either unaware of their purpose or do not care about your clothes. When delicate garments are washed in a washing machine with other, more complex garments or materials, they can be damaged. Utilizing mesh laundry bags prevents destruction.
Mesh laundry bags are nylon or polypropylene bags with a rectangular and circular mesh or netted design. They have a small zipper and drawstring closure to keep your laundry contained.
What do You need to know?
When doing the laundry, you place your delicate in small mesh or netting bags with zippers or drawstrings that allow water and detergent to pass through. You can wash them like you would a sweatshirt or pair of pants, but they are better protected from the agitation of the spin cycle. Bras are significantly less likely to come out distorted, lacey garments won't get shredded, and tights and swimsuits won't get stretched and tangled in your machine. Of course, mesh laundry bags do not authorize you to throw anything in the washing machine; be sure to read the labels and reserve hand-washable or dry-clean-only items for their appropriate laundering method.
 How does it operate?
The design of the mesh laundry bags permits water and detergent to flow freely in and out for superior washing. It prevents snags, tangles, tears, and stretching of your finest and most delicate garments during washing and drying. This activity extends the life of garments and reduces the cost of replacing expensive clothing by keeping them in pristine condition for longer.
 How to use it?
Place your undergarments, silk clothing, socks, and other delicate garments in the laundry bag, and then zip the bag shut. Your laundry is now ready to be laundered. Before placing the mesh laundry bag in the washer or dryer, please ensure that it is not overloaded, as this will prevent the laundry from freely spinning within the bag and result in a poor washing experience.
There are different sizes and shapes of mesh laundry bags for washing delicate garments with extra care. A lingerie wash bag, for instance, is ideal for Lingerie, Undergarments, Scarves, Bras, Hosiery, Expensive Blouses, Baby Clothing, and Sweaters. You can use multiple wash bags in a single wash for additional care.
 Do you need it?
Even if you prefer to hand wash all your delicate even when you don't have to, there's a massive advantage to using wash bags that everyone can enjoy: they prevent your delicates from getting tangled in the machine. You'll never lose another sock to the mysterious washer-dryer monster that always seems to steal them, resulting in mismatched feet. If your socks are washed in mesh laundry bags, there is no hiding place, and you won't have to search for your favorite pairs when folding.
Since mesh laundry bags come in various sizes, you cannot use them for items usually stored in your underwear drawer. Lace tops and strapless dresses can be placed in a laundry bag if they are machine-washable. Avoid options with loosely woven mesh and opt for laundry bags with tiny, barely perceptible holes. A good rule of thumb is to determine if the holes are large enough to catch a bra hook; if so, choose a different bag where this is not the case. The finer the netting, the more difficult it is for the bag to tear or become entangled.

Keep Your Home Cool This Summer with these 6 Tips
Summer in Austin means that homeowners far and wide are dropping an extra $100, $200, sometimes $300 on their monthly electricity bill to keep their home cool and comfortable. Large, multi-story homes will especially feel the pinch with the additional energy costs associated with keeping large spaces cool. While there's not "magic bullet" to beat the heat and keep costs low (except for installing solar power) there are some tasks you can undertake to help your cooling system out and save money on energy bills. Below are 6 tips to help keep your home cool this summer. 1. Keep Your Fans Clean While it doesn't necessarily reduce the temperature in your house, a ceiling fan is the best tool for improving air movement and circulation. When you let dust and debris pile up on the fan blades, not only are you making it harder for the fan to push air around, you're also making it work harder to spin, raising energy costs. A quick wipe down with a duster and damp cloth will help keep your fan blades clean and spinning freely. 2. Reverse You Fan Blade Direction Contrary to popular belief, you can improve the circulation of cold air by reversing your fan blades during the hotter months. When fan blades cycle backwards, they force air up into the ceiling causing it to cascade throughout the room as it descends. (Remember: cold air sinks.) That will push more cool air throughout the room as opposed to forcing it straight down below the fan.  Simply find the little black plastic switch on your fan blade housing and switch it. Make sure your fan blades aren't spinning when you do it. 3. Let Your A/C Maintain Cooler Temps Another item that is somewhat contrary to popular belief. Your A/C system will work less if it doesn't have to make drastic jumps in temperature. For instance, if you're planning on being out of the house all day, set your unit to maintain a temperature that is on the high-end of comfortable, somewhere around 78 degrees. That way, when you cool it down to 72 it won't have to work as hard to drop the temp. If you turn your A/C off when you leave and the temperature gets up into the mid-80s, not only will you spend more money as your A/C works overtime to cool your house, you'll be hot and uncomfortable for a few hours in the process. 4. Clean Air Vents and Regularly Replace Filters Your home air system is only as good as your ducts and vents. Air ducts and intakes are often clogged with excessive amounts of dust, debris or hair. If not cleaned for a long time, they worsen the quality of air getting into your home and can cause discomfort to your family and guests by allowing allergens into the A/C system circulating it throughout the house. Not only do clogged air intake can also exacerbate allergies for those who are allergic to airborne allergens, they also make it hard for air to circulate within your home, again, putting excessive pressure on your A/C unit. For replacing your filters, just unlock your vent and pull the dirty filter out replacing it with the same size filter. You can find them at most grocery and/or hardware stores. For your vents, they can typically be cleaned using a vacuum. However, if there is excessive dust, you might want to clean them with a wet towel or sponge to really rid it of debris. 5. Clean Your A/C Unit Filter The exterior mesh on your outside A/C unit is a filter that helps your intake filter out dust, leaves, and other outside agents from making their way into your home. Over time, that metal mesh filter can get clogged from rain or dust and it needs a good cleaning. The easiest and quickest way to do this is to take a hose with a spray attachment and use the finest spray setting to wash out all the dirt and grime from the filter. If you take the 5 minutes to do that every month, you should be keeping your filter pretty clean.  If it has been longer, you can also get A/C filter cleaning sprays designed specifically for cleaning that appliance.  6. Turn Your A/C Off Before Mowing the Lawn This is a deep cut from the A/C tips list but a very important one. Your A/C unit takes in air from outside, cools it down, and then circulates throughout your house. While filters are designed to make sure none of that gets into the house, they're not perfect. When you mow, you're stirring up all kinds of dust and debris and if your A/C unit is running at the same time, it's going to suck all of that in. Not only will dust cause your A/C unit to work harder, it can also cause damage to your A/C system over time and you definitely don't want to foot an A/C system replacement bill.  Simply shut off your A/C for the 45 minutes you'll be mowing the lawn in the vicinity to ensure that your A/C unit doesn't take in any unnecessary dust or debris.   from https://ift.tt/2JP1jll
