Okay so, this is a long one. I know this is a picture site but I'm going to use more than 140 characters. From one White Male to anyone who is feeling overwhelmed. Are you a lover, not a fighter? Go buy a pair or rubber gloves, a retractable claw or dinosaur head grabber & a trash bag. Go walk out to your nearest "dangerous neighborhood" and fill that bag with trash. Do you know who doesn't generally get messed with? White people helping to clean up the spaces that they even unknowingly participated in the disgrace of. You're as likely to get shot by a wide variety of junkies in pretty much every neighborhood in America. Stop treating your neighbors like monsters or stop calling yourself Religious. You could go make sure a young child doesn't cut their beautiful, delicate, colorful feet on glass. Or swallow a cigarette butt or 100. Or open that bottle that has some very dangerous things in it. Do you know who usually cleans up all that? I have cried a lot while driving here. I live in a "Let 'Em Work, Let 'Em Live!" State. If you don't understand the brutality of that statement, what it represents to the "progress" we've only begrudgingly made -- please contact your local ACLU. Whether by email, phone, or gasp in person - Be respectful and ask for resources on how to better understand what's going on. Or go pick up some trash so that the prison system can stop calling what they're doing anything other than cruel and unusual slave labor of a debtor's prison. Let those people, many of whom may not be as guilty as presumed, spend their time in peace attempting to reconcile themselves with the unfairness of life. The way we all have to but some don't realize just how unfair we can be to one another. Go to the other side of the railroad tracks. What? At worst you might learn a little Spanish or Korean or Jamaican or Proper English or Ebonics or French-Canadian or Arabic or lots of things you don't realize you've been missing. The street isn't some made up wild west that only bad, lazy people go to. It's your home too.
