   harmony is a Big F Feminist who believes that women have spent far too long being told what to do and who to be, and she isn’t going to have any of it.

   basically, it all started when she was a kid. harmony was just a wee one herself when her little sister was born and it was love at first mewl. seriously, harmony would not put the kid down. she loved her, cared for her, made sure that the little girl had everything she ever wanted. she so very rarely put her down, and even then, it was only because babies need food.

   (tw: this paragraph contains mentions of child abuse, physical abuse, and alcohol abuse. please skip to the next paragraph if this is triggering.) so when the abuse started, it was like something out of a nightmare. daddy had started drinking and when he did, he became demanding. there was nothing harmony’s mother could do to make the man happy. eventually, harmony’s mother had been beaten down (literally and figuratively) enough that she allowed it to happen. the horror turned to harmony and her little sister.

   but the good thing about the situation was that daddy was often too drunk to notice when the girls went missing. when things got really bad, harmony would take her sister outside, or next door, or they would sleep over at a friend’s house. it was pretty clear to harmony that help wasn’t going to come in the usual way, but it didn’t matter. to her, it was her and her sister against the world.

   the primary way that harmony felt better was through sex. she found a boyfriend, and then another, and then a girlfriend. it was never serious, but harmony learned how to kiss, how to fuck, and how to make a person feel like they were the center of the universe. she never felt quite as powerful as she did when she was making someone cum.

   it was, believe it or not, a logical next step to have harmony begin to sell her body. she waited until she was eighteen (for legal purposes... she didn’t want to get arrested, because otherwise, how the fuck would she take care of her sister?), but then she got hooked up with a reputable company. she started seeing anyone who wanted a little company, her brightness and drive a mega-selling point.

   harmony actually started college after her sister, beginning at nineteen. but harmony wanted to set a good example for her little sister. and besides... she can’t be a hooker forever (no matter how well paid she is).

   so what kind of connections? anyone, really. old clients, maybe. she’s pretty quiet about what she does for a living (mainly because she thinks it’s no one’s business but her own), but she’d be open with a select few, so those folks would be great. she believes in expressing yourself sexually, however you want, so she’ll have a bunch of one-night stands in her wake. she’s not a huge fan of sleeping alone (flashbacks are a bitch).

alex chen was born into a rather mundane world; in ozark mountains, arkansas to a humble aquarist and an english professor arthur chen and vanessa chen ( nee-bertrand ), she grew up an aspiring child who was always a little quiet but loved attending activities. athletics had always been her favorite subjects and she loved to tag along her father for aquarium visits.

although she was surrounded by a rather conservative society, arthur and vanessa were supportive of their daughter’s preferrences. not at all shunning her after she came out as gay at the age of 14, coming home with a red-faced girlfriend in tow.

alex’s girlfriend, kayla, planned a longtime relationship with her. however to her dismay, kayla had to be separated when she entered junior year to follow her parents to new york. they promised to keep in touch but it didn’t last long, their bond eventually faded over the years.

alex moved on and started dating and sleeping with other girls but she had always had trouble with commitments after kayla. a great news, however arrived when her parents told her they’d be moving to new york later that year and so the opportunity to see her old flame again reappeared. 

unfortunately, tragedy struck shortly after they moved to new york. while en route to prepare for alex’s graduation party, their car was hit by a drunk driver and both her parents died on scene. alex was the only survivor with severe physical gashes that could be healed over time but the same could not be said for her emotional ones. 

alex fell into a dark spiral filled with guilt and sorrow. she drank, fucked endlessly and lived in isolation while focusing only on physical activites or tasks, never opening up to anyone. 

a glimmer of hope seemed to surface about three years later. kayla showed up, now a climbing author and much more mature, and helped alex cope with her pain. they eventually rekindled their relationship and married about four years later. all was working well for once and alex picked herself up. though, her happiness did not last long. 

only two years ago, a break-in happened to their little apartment. kayla’s belongings were taken and she was badly hurt in the process. alex was quick to rush her to the hospital, unfortunately, they couldn’t save her and she passed two days after from internal bleeding. alex was once again in a horrible spot, this time without any apparent bright side.

losing both her parents and wife changed alex as a person. to this day she continues to succumb herself to her bad habits of drinking and basically destroying her body. she still needed money though, so she packed her bags and moved to illnois and applied as a security officer for allerton university.

she’s reckless, harsh, and very emotionally detached. she likes doing things that puts herself on a risk so she has probably fucked sneakily around the school afterhours and doesn’t give two shits about her rep. cold, dominating, can last countless rounds. despite all that, deep down alex is lonely and grieving but she tells herself she's better that way.

born  in  los  angeles  to  two  parents  who  wanted  the  best  for  her  ,  rachel  was  always  destined  to  be  on  stage  or  on  the  screen  .  when  she  was  three  years  old  ,  she  did  her  first  commercial  -  for  coca-cola  ,  no  less  .  and  that  set  up  her  love  of  hollywood  for  the  rest  of  her  life  .  she  got  cast  on  various  sitcoms  throughout  her  childhood  but  the  main  one  ,  which  impacted  her  life  ,  was  the  one  that  she  got  cast  in  at  the  age  of  eleven  .  

from  the  ages  of  eleven  through  eighteen  ,  she  played  as  blue  avery  on  '  the  life  of  blue  '  ,  a  boy  meets  world-esque  sitcom  that  followed  the  life  of  her  fictional  character  from  a  preteen  through  college  .  her  performance  was  critically  acclaimed  and  rachel  has  an  embarrassing  amount  of  accolades  from  the  time  .  but  at  eighteen  ,  she  was  thirsty  for  something  different  .  she  had  loved  being  on  television  -  don't  get  her  wrong  .  but  she  was  burnt  out  .  because  of  this  ,  she  made  the  decision  to  leave  LA  behind  for  a  while  .  and  she  ended  up  in  chicago  and  at  allerton  for  her  undergraduate  program  .  

she  debated  majoring  in  theatre  or  something  would  allow  her  to  be  the  center  of  attention  .  but  after  spending  so  much  time  in  front  of  the  camera  ,  she  thought  to  try  her  hand  at  being  behind  it  .  and  she  absolutely  loved  it  .  after  she  completed  her  four  year  program  ,  she  went  back  to  los  angeles  with  the  goal  of  making  some  movies  .  

fast  forward  two  years  and  her  first  film  is  released  .  it  was  supposed  to  be  an  indie  psychological  thriller  but  the  critics  absolutely  ate  it  up  .  and  rachel  received  the  opportunity  to  screen  it  at  cannes  .  after  that  ,  she  was  extremely  sought  after  as  both  a  writer  and  a  director  .  so  at  twenty  -  three  ,  rachel  was  enjoying  the  fame  that  she  had  sought  .  

and  the  debauchery  that  came  with  it  .  and  quite  frankly  ,  the  next  three  years  were  a  blur  .  until  everything  came  crashing  down  at  her  feet  .  after  getting  caught  having  an  affair  with  one  of  the  actors  in  her  film  (  they  had  been  engaged  to  someone  else  )  ,  the  ensuing  outcry  over  the  fact  that  she  had  broken  up  a  marriage  drove  rachel  out  of  hollywood  .  desperate  for  somewhere  to  stay  ,  she  ended  up  in  chicago  and  back  at  allerton  .  

she  had  to  practically  BEG  to  get  this  faculty  position  .  but  despite  her  checkered  past  ,  her  credentials  were  enough  to  get  her  the  position  .  after  getting  the  job  ,  rachel  has  actually  ??  adjusted  pretty  well  to  living  in  chicago  .  she's  a  pretty  interesting  professor  ,  has  the  habit  of  making  her  students  laugh  .  

but  recently  ,  she's  been  struggling  with  muse  .  which  could  be  blamed  on  the  fact  that  she  still  feels  super  guilty  about  breaking  up  that  actor's  marriage  (  even  though  it  takes  two  to  tango  )  or  the  fact  that  she  just  hasn't  been  very  inspired  lately  to  create  .

-  drinks  a  lot  of  sweet  wine  .  ends  up  wine  drunk  while  grading  papers  -  only  two  students  have  gotten  back  incomprehensible  results  .  

-  will  sleep  with  anyone  ,  younger  or  older  .  

-  a  switch  but  with  bottom  tendencies  .  can  top  if  she  really  wants  to  but  prefers  to  receive  most  of  the  benefit  while  doing  almost  none  of  the  work  .

even before tragedy struck the small family of four, the sterlings were always just a bit different from everyone else. maybe that had to do with the fact that vienna’s dad was a radio dj for a relatively popular classic rock station and her mother was an aspiring actress. children of entertainers, it seemed only natural that both she and her older brother lennon would later find an interest in the business.

personalities often clashed ( harmlessly ) within the household, but the one thing that always bonded them together as a family was their shared love of film. movie nights were a time-honored tradition and vienna treasured every single moment. her mother would always say that a day would come when she’d look up at that big screen and see her there as a bonafide movie star.

that day never came. a week after her 11th birthday, her mother went missing. disappeared one afternoon while she was out on a ‘casting call’. never seen again. vienna remembers feeling very present at the time, but walking around in a fog. she remembers her father and brother falling apart. little vienna doing what she could to try and keep all the pieces together. a search was conducted, but with no solid lead to go on her mother’s case eventually went cold. childhood for vienna ended too early. as a result she grew up too fast.

grew up too fast and over the years found herself in situations that no young teen should be in. tending to her older brother’s bruises and cuts from fights he’d instigated, calling the paramedics for her dad after finding him on the floor of his apartment overdosing on heroin. she was taken from his custody after that, given over to the care of their mother’s sister. 

vienna’s brother continued to rebel and give everyone a hard time, but she ended up bonding closely with their aunt and was able to begin getting her life together there. however, it’s also during this time that she developed a crush on her aunt’s married neighbor and fell into a whirlwind affair with him that taught her a lot about herself and ended when his wife caught them together and they moved away. it took a bit longer to build up her strength again after that low point, but eventually she managed it so she could better help the people around her that needed it most. people like her brother and dad.

she didn’t give up on either. she stayed in their lives insisting against all their efforts to push her away despite how cruelly they sometimes rebuffed her until she finally pushed through to them. slowly, but surely over the years they all began the life-long process of healing together as a family.

the loss of her mother and the lack of resolution there makes it so it’s a wound that hasn’t healed quite right and probably never will, but at least they’re all in better places emotionally now. her dad is back on the radio taking things one day at a time and always signing off the air by reminding the listening audience of the phone number they can dial if they have any information regarding the disappearance of his wife. her brother lennon is out in los angeles, chasing the same dream their mother had and seemingly having better luck after having landed a role in a netflix original that’s gotten some decent buzz.

her interest in film never waned. after the disappearance of her mother, she almost took her interest in it as a tribute to the woman she loved so much. vienna herself didn’t have the talent or drive for acting, but she liked the idea of having a say in the careers of budding actors. of recognizing talent and shining a spotlight on it, something that her mother had been denied.

she at least had an eye for talent and with her love and knowledge of films, she thought the position of casting director might be a good fit for her one day. although accepted into a few universities on the west coast that would’ve probably been a smarter choice for her career, she chose to stay closer to her dad for now to help him with his sobriety.

𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒔𝒚. in every sense of the word. her mother made her take a ballet class once hoping that it might instill some poise in her and she ended up kicking one of the other girls in the face. to this day she’s not really sure how it happened. in general she’s pretty uncoordinated, but if you throw her into some water you’ll find she moves pretty gracefully in it.

𝒂𝒘𝒌𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅. that character in teen comedies that literally cannot help but get themselves into the most uncomfortable, often times hilariously embarrassing situations ? that’s vienna. she fumbles and stumbles her way through life just trying to get by with as little damage to her pride as possible.

𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒄. if pain and loss gives you anything it’s perspective. she was always a kind soul, but even more so after the disappearance of her mother. after that she always made it a point to try and understand the pain of others, to see if she could maybe offer them a hand to hold in their sadness. she refuses to give up on people and that has often led to her being taken advantage of.

𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆. she usually can’t hide her thoughts very well. she doesn’t even think to try most of the time. she’s honest and it’s gotten her into her fair share of awkward situations before where maybe a lie would’ve been better suited.

𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇-𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔. a late bloomer. lagging behind all of the rest of the girls in her class, she was awkward and gangly for a long time before the ‘pretty face’ came along. it took time to grow into her beauty and she suffered those growing pains with minimal grace. over the years she’s gotten better about her body image issues, but she still finds herself growing self-conscious every now and then.
