HI. ITS ME AGAIN. DO U HAVE A FAVORITE BARBIE OR KEN OR IS IT JUST ALLAN. THIS IS FOR SCIENCE
I think i liked all the barbies equally! But i think doctor barbie and weird barbie were my favs. Their actresses are just such good vibes. For kens it was ryan gosling all the way. His delivery made me laugh even in moments that were rly depressing! I personally related to allen the most in the whole situation tho haha. He def felt reminiscent of what it feels like to be a trans guy in a situation like this. Like, you're one of the guys, but you're still different and growing up being socialized as a girl def opens your third eye when it comes to misogyny as obvious as the kens expressed it. I related to how allen was like "what are they on and how do they think this is great" At least that's how I feel in that position haha

Finally saw the Barbie movie. it was really great, but some things were kinda out of tune to me.
what I loved:
the girl asking 'was that dad?' and it obviously wasn't. I like how they showed that the mom was also just a girl
'I'm not pretty' when Barbie was depressed. because of course she is pretty. but saying she doesn't feel pretty because she's down just felt so raw and real, it really resonated with me.
Allan wanting to escape Kendom, representing the part of men who don't feel comfortable with the lifestyle expected of 'manly man'
that commercial, man. that was the greatest piece of cinema I've seen in ages.
the biggoty behavior of Ken was a result of his insecurities. his actions were wrong, but he is still a likable character. Barbie showing him sympathy in stead of hatred made them both better people. I just like the message that kindness (without being a push over) can bring you far.
All the leaders in Mattel being men. it just shows how weird it is to have all men in a position where there could have easily been over half women who'd be more qualified for the job. (would have hated it if they were all women, tho)
what I didn't like:
I thought the guitar scene was below the belt and mean. it just felt like a really dirty trick to hurt the Kens like that on purpose
I was sweating for a sec when they went like 'Barbieland is perfect again' without anything changing. when Barbie did say things had to change it just felt kinda lukewarm how the response was 'oh yeah, they can have a small bit too'. the movie wants to advocate equality, but I don't feel they really pulled through in Barbieland.
slippery ice, but I didn't really like how ALL the barbies were brainwashed. just like there was Allan who didn't like Kendom, I would have also liked if a Barbie realized she didn't enjoy being in the picture all the time.
the last scene where Barbie goes to the gynecologist. just... I get how they wanted to bring across that she's an actual person now, but... I dunno, it's easy to misinterpreted as 'she has a vagina, so she's a real woman' resulting in 'women without vagina aren't really women'. it takes away the initial strength of Barbie saying 'oh, I don't have a vagina'. I think it would have been better if she'd be aplying for a job that many consider a man's job.
