#all writing has immense value but that doesn't mean we can't have conversation about it

Of course! I mean absolutely no offense to any writer, and I'm referring to nobody in particular. I myself started writing online when I was very young and I know I wouldn't be who I am without the encouragement of fandom.

I enjoy a lot of the fics I'm referring to. Like- generally speaking, I'm not against joy and whimsy. Neither am I expecting a professional psychoanalysis every time I open a tab.

I didn't mean to offend anyone. I was more so trying to open a conversation about characterization overall, while observing fanon Lilia. All writing is made of love, and this post is not referring to people who are just having fun, but people who are interested in better grasping the difference between actor and role. Maybe I phrased it badly, but the post was not written as to discourage young writers. Neither did I say that it's wrong and bad and revolting or something. It was a critical post, for those who care about such things.

There's a time and a place for every fic. I'm merely encouraging those who are interested to pay a closer look to the subtleties of Patti's performances, because she's not an actor who generally sells herself, but instead the script.

Expressing a general opinion and an observation is not diminishing the work of any young writer.

Thank you for the addition anyhow, because I definitely do think it's majorly important. Everyone's contribution to the fandom should be appreciated!

In no way am I trying to police anyone or to dull out the fun & enjoyment of just Doing Whatever You Want. This is a different discussion. This is about the consumption of media. I'm not nitpicking. Two statements can be true at the same time.

Guys, I love you all to bits–and I'm obsessed with Patti just as the rest of you. But, my brothers in christ, I bEG of you to stop mischaracterizing her roles as patti clones. it's frankly a little insulting to patti's insane acting range! I really don't think Patti and Lilia Calderu, per se, act or talk or think alike at all, for example. And while she does bring a very particular, italian, patti-edge to everyone she plays, she still plays them entirely different to each other. Lilia may have Patti mannerisms, a Patti essence of sorts, but she's very different to our girl. Same applies to Joanne, to Avis Amberg, to Nellie Lovett, to Reno Sweeney, to Joan Ramsey, to Evita Perón, (fucking Evita Perón-) to Kitty Duval, to Libby Thatcher, to Fantine, Norma Desmond, Mama Rose, Helena Rubenstein, Maria Callas?? Joan Clayton, Dr Seward?? 😭🙏 Her acting isn't even the same in two performances of the same character, I think it's a little underwhelming to portray all her characters as entirely Patti just because of her icon status and the fact we all want to sleep with heR-
