I’m going to make a TenAmy playlist. You inspired me. Now do you have some really good song recs, pretty please?
Omg whatttt I’d be more than happy to!! I’ve already made one (their silly cannot be suppressed anon I’m glad you get it) these all have the sameish vibe so I hope you have a similar music taste/vibe of them. MAKE SURE YOU SEND IT TO ME WHEN YOU MADE IT!!
Tumblr media
I saw this in a very good elevenamy playlist and since then I haven’t been able to stop myself from listening. It’s 2010s so it’s Amy’s vibe yk? It’s her period of music and it feels like it. “The stars are made of holograms.” “It was a lovetap for all we know.”
On a elevenamy playlist again, but it is also tenamy. They fall in love in stages her whole life. “He’d do the nappies” (use that as ten’s want to be human and lowkey want a family, melody pond and the fact he is a father) and “lots of people think [he’s] gay” and that’s cool because he is a little.
It’s not living if they aren’t with each other, yk? The only man who is even real to her is an alien who crashed into her garden at the age of 7. If he doesn’t have a companion he isn’t living because he longs to show the universe. Plus, if you view the hypothetical like I do, he has just condemned his whole species back into a time lock of self appointed ‘hell’ he is doing everything to seem chill and normal in front of her. But when you are him, you can’t be normal about that. And she likes that.
THEIR SONG. THIS IS THEIRS AND I WILL SCREAM. She’s got a boyfriend (fiancé or husband whatever) but he can fill his shoes. The Doctor vs a nurse, childhood dreams vs the adult explanations of her. Plus, they look quite alike if you squint and see them doing the same pose.
“You sit there in your heartache, waiting on some beautiful boy to save you from your old ways. You play forgiveness, watch out here he comes.
He doesn’t look a thing like Jesus, but he talks like a gentleman, like you imagined when you were young”
Not sure why, but I see it. Maybe it’s P!ATD that’s doing it because they’re very 2010s tumblr girl and as you can see, I dig that vibe for them. Maybe it’s the Vegas being associated with gambling and the whole these of the song being performance and they lyrics “we gotta be starting something, would you change it if you could?” And I’m just like. Them.
Maybe the instrumental is pushing me to say this, plus “you and I were made of glass, we’d never last”
Early 2000s song so it’s kinda him. She will be loved for him, he keeps dropping her off and he’s done it so many times but he still wants her and she still wants her raggedy doctor (who in the tenamy would that be his name? Not sure give me thoughts)
Amy is cool yk
Fun fact, listened to this is Tesco’s for the first time and I didn’t think about it again until tenamy. No idea if it’s about an affair or something else, it just feels them.
I haven’t gathered the e edgy tenamy songs that I’d imagine heartbreaking edits to just haven’t been discovered (except maybe Ghost of you by MCR) so unfortunately you don’t get the angst.
Those are my tenamy’s! I tried to stop myself from adding any Taylor Swift/Lana Del Rey/The Smiths because one i add one about 50 billion of their coke to mind. BUT THATS IT (for now) ILY TAKE CARE

One Piece Chapter 1062 - Initial Thoughts
Tumblr media
And we're back
Once again Oda dropped a bomb and dipped for an extra week but now we're back to await answers
This is the second time I've had to write this XD My PC froze so I had to restart it
but still, let's get this Vegapunk arc going!
Spoilers for the Chapter, Support the official release also
Oh we know whose technique that is, seems that Blackbeard's crew were indeed in Whole Cake Island, ara ara
Picking up right where we left off, Franky and Usopp are still fanning out on Vegapunk, while Sanji and Brook are in the 'pretty lady' mindset
Robin however does point out that Vegapunk has been referred to a dude for much of the story
As fans theorised, 02 is simply not Vegapunk's main body, this is Vegapunk Lilith
Interesting to choose biblical since Lilith is sometimes deemed the second human to be created; after Adam but before Eve
Lilith however reminds the crew this isn't a rescue and demands they hand over their loot, which of course Nami takes offense to
Lilith though claims that the crew is surrounded, with her squad of cyborg sea monsters
Franky's still fanning out while Usopp is between panic and fanning, Zoro however remains unimpressed
Lilith though is contacted by 'Shaka' who reprimands her for looting - even if its for getting more funds
Seems both are aware that this is the Straw Hats, but Lilith believes that our idiots actually have money XD like her cute devious face though
Shaka though notes that Zoro and Robin are calm in the situation, meaning they know they can take her
But I wouldn't call the others idiots, they may end up surprising you
Zoro's willing to play it cool with Lilith though, since he wants something from them. Likely a means to help Luffy's group reunite but you never know
Shaka has interesting stock in the Straw Hats too, asking Lilith to bring them over
Shaka is Punk-01 'Logic', fitting for the name
Over to Luffy's squad and Bonney's in a sharing mood, seems she was here a long time ago when it was just a minor lab
Bonney is indeed after answers from Vegapunk about Kuma...who is her Father!
I mean, it explains a lot and yet so little, no wonder she and Akainu are acquainted and she hates him
But still, Bonney princess of the Sorbet Kingdom, I guess this puts the age question out of the Void Century, unless she used her ability on Kuma too, guess that would be a way to 'commit every crime' per his title
Also we can't dodge the fact that Kuma fucks. Hope he put a ring on it given how he carries that bible around
Jinbe is of course angered by this (not sure if he knows it's Kuma she's talking about but he may've had a dynamic with him as fellow warlords)
It is at least enough for Luffy to try and remember Bonney's name better
Bonney meanwhile realises she forgot to tell Luffy about Sabo - meaning she must know about their brotherhood - but expects she'll have a chance later
They reach the ground floor and it looks like a city from the Jetsons, with a Mecha/Kaiju battle overhead and a lot of Vega branding, plus SSG at the top
Naturally, with all the Steve Irwin energy he can muster, Luffy decides he's gonna ride this gigantic beast...but ends up firing into its mouth
or, not? He goes straight through. The group then see a parfait and go for it (despite Jinbe's warnings it could be a trap) and go through that too
Bonney surmises that these must be holograms, and not Luffy's suggestion that they died and are now ghosts XD food not being real though triggers a Sanji-esque flaming reaction from Luffy
Jinbe suggests that the mech is also a hologram, stating that nobody could make something that big (of course unaware of the mecha that saved the Sunny) but also wonders why the climate is different from the Winter Island climate
This prompts a new Punk to arrive, stating that they made a climate air con. This Punk looks a bit like Uta too, except gigantic and like a sheep-girl-thing, also Jetpacks and rocket boots
Luffy thinks this is another hologram and goes to hit it to test, but when he makes contact he's surprised that the Punk hits back
Fortunately, he's hit into a machine that makes food, and the three gluttons go wild for it
Do you think Vega Cola would make Franky more or less Super?
Seems this Punk is also aggrieved by lack of funding, as well as engineers being unable to follow their blueprints. They're so angry that they punch a hologram too
Seems this Punk made special gloves that can touch holograms, which does feel a little like they're making Kizaru deterrents...
Seems the Punk feels that their Holograms are 'real' in a sense, but like Luffy often does tells others to figure out how they feel, before introducing themselves as Vegapunk too
Bonney doesn't buy it, but this is Punk 06: Atlas rather than the main guy, 'Wrath' is also its sign which is why it's shown to be frustrated and aggressive
Dunno what animal tail that's supposed to be either
Luffy meanwhile remembers the name Vegapunk...not by Bonney who told him last chapter but from Coby back at Water Seven XD
Meanwhile in the New World, CP0 are back in play
This time it's Lucci, Kaku and Stussy, all with their masks on the table, as Kaku tries to explain to Lucci the Vegapunk situation
Vegapunk has took a trick from Nagato and split themselves into Six 'satellites' so they can multitask
In numeric order we have Shaka, Lilith, Edison, Pythagoras, Atlas (even though their dress and name plate said 06) and Yoke (or is it York? Maybe relative to Captain Yorki Brook's old captain??)
Their sign is Logic, Evil (probably a nod to Lilith being mother of demons), Flair (kinda hope he's just a plagiarist), Wisdom, Wrath and Desire
There's also a Seraphim Kuma on the ship, deemed a 'problem child' that they're taking back to Egghead
but this is only a front for their actual mission: Kill all the Vegapunks
Lucci does wonder if this is tied into Lulusia, but Stussy does slyly note that it's not their job to ask questions
Unlike Lucci though, questions is all we have to ask!
The Vegapunk stuff isn't surprising, but I still like it. Seven different Vegapunks are running around with different personalities, skills and agendas, which can blend well with the different personality types of the crew and Bonney.
Speaking off, Bonney has perfectly blended into the group, not that I had much doubt, but she has the seriousness Zoro, Jinbe and Robin issue but the silliness that Luffy, Usopp and Chopper exude. Revealing her to be Kuma's daughter is a surprise, but it does add to her and Kuma's mystery.
And Oda is slowly putting all manner of threats in the way; CP0 and a defective Kuma Seraphim on their way to kill all the Vegapunks, which will likely bring all of the plots post-Reverie to light when it comes to the Straw Hats. It'll be interesting how Lucci and Kaku rate against Luffy and Zoro now, part of me wants them to be weaker just so we can get Kaku vs Usopp but another part of me feels like Lucci and Luffy should be on similar levels. With CP0 unraveling in Wano too, I wonder if this leads to a bigger fallout, but really I'd be happy if they simply don't squash Tashigi and Smoker if he's here, give Smoker and Tashigi a big win instead.
We still have Shaka to physically meet and 3 more Punks to entirely meet in this arc, but I'm liking what we're seeing
Plus since there's multi Vegapunks I'm going all in on calling it the 'Vegapunk Arc' rather than Egghead Island, let's manifest it!

a REALLY messy take on the Dead Money DLC - Fallout New Vegas (2010)
Currently replaying Fallout NV for the 3rd time and playing Dead Money for the first time and I am sorry to say this. But I hate the Dead Money DLC... It brings me to tears.
TEARS OF RAGE.
WHO CAME UP WITH THE IDEA THAT BOMB COLLARS THAT GO OFF BECAUSE OF RADIO FREQUENCIES ARE A FUNNY IDEA? SO WHEN YOU HEAR THAT INFAMOUS BEEPING COS THERE’S A RADIO OR A SPEAKER NEARBY (and you’ll hear it a lot, believe me) AND IT KEEPS ON BEEPING AND BEEPING AND BEEPING UNTIL YOU CAN’T FIND A SAFE SPOT SO... YOU JUST EXPLODE?!
I WANT THIS PERSON’S LOCATION. I JUST WANNA TALK.
On a calmer note:
It generally seems like... there is no general idea. It’s a hot mess and a lot of
interesting
ideas thrown together because they seemed cool but nothing really seems connected with each other.
Let me demonstrate what I mean by throwing in some key words about what I gathered from the story:
- toxic cloud - unkillable ghost people - hologram people that can shoot lasers outta their forehead - bomb collar (love them. jk.) - three companions (and their three story lines) that couldn’t be more different from each other: a schizo super-mutant with daddy issues, an entertainer... ghoul... who can’t let go, and a mute lady... she’s bald - the area  is pretty small... no fun to explore really... - THE. AMOUNT. OF. BEAR TRAPS.
this DLC has no real “Fallout-feel” to it, i know it’s supposed to be kinda hard esp since they strip you off of all your belongings before you enter the new area but you can easily find stuff around the villa and the casino (even if it’s not the greatest stuff but hm) so that’s not even the biggest problem.
What really bothers me is the story... or the fact that I couldn’t care less about it because I am being chased by unkillable ghost people or keep running until the beeping in my brain stops. There’s also always some alarm going off...and the soundtrack sounds like something straight from Satan’s playlist. it’s stressful and anticlimactic. Which is sad because I feel like... if you would delete some elements to it and go more into details when it comes to the characters... give them emotional depth... it would have been a great first DLC! (at least Bethesda learnt from it)
I haven’t even finished it yet... and I couldn’t really tell you what the story is about. It’s just that there’s is a dude who is kinda obsessed with this casino which is actually a fortress (?) and... I guess he needs me... and the others because... and then... but... *sigh* - Blue out for now. ★

Light show in Atomium
youtube
In one of our balls in the atonium in it near a New Vegas at the entertainment center we have put a hologramic projection and also magnetic projection system in and also we have the show in the same spot where the planets are hovering and it shows where they are and we're controlling it with the computer and it's all proprietary and you're not supposed to have any of it and all of it's very well shielded and we are asking everyone for their devices went before the enter and it probably will cause a little war up there all the time but that's what we're doing and we might actually set up another ball to have free fall practice and frying practice and then we're going to create our version of Harry Potter and we're doing that already and it's going to be ready tonight at the entertainment center and I'm thanking him for my life and for this Joy cuz we're doing it where we are and people are training and getting involved and it says that we should do it he says we are we've got a lot of it we're doing lotr too we have dragons and everything was amazed that stuff is really cool so we're making some form we're sending it and his kids are insane about it it feels bad for the animals cuz they get pretty hurt and make some angry and sick inside makes it hard for them to trust but he's not an animal and sees them and actually the bear deals too occasionally but there's an animal and we realize it so he knows we don't do it but we're going to have this contest and we're going to have the ball with I forgot to tell you it's the alien ship from Prometheus and in it is a star map and we're not going to tell you what it is of we want people to tell us what they know it is and yes the aliens are in it and hologram for him sometimes we have actors up there or in cosplay yes he's the head alien you saw in the movie that ripped the head off David supposed to be a robot he thought

The Golden Knights rolled out the most over-the-top intro in NHL history
Tumblr media
Flaming arrows, a knight fight and cutting a holographic jet in half ...
Sports theatrics are best theatrics, and there is not a single thing wrong with what the Golden Knights did on Wednesday.
Vegas sure knows how to put on a show! pic.twitter.com/JeUS3hFrds
— NHL on NBC (@NHLonNBCSports) May 17, 2018
The team has been rocking this whole “Medieval Times” pre-game aesthetic all year long, but nothing compared to Game 3 of the Conference Finals when Las Vegas brought out an archer to shoot flaming arrows at the ice and eliminate the rest of the teams in the west.
But that’s not all, far from it — because then we got a KNIGHT FIGHT!
Tumblr media
Then the Winnipeg knight flew away on a wire and got in a jet. Seriously, then the hologram jet flew on the ice and the Golden Knight cut it in half with his broadsword.
Tumblr media
Damn Vegas, you’re pretty cool.

It wouldn't be right to do a redux on SG1 without doing the same for SGA so here is the Atlantis version of the post about the things I like and things I don't like.  Probably not as long seeing as how I have literally half the material, but we'll see. I like: -Literally every word that comes out of Rodney's mouth.  I don't know if they have a dedicated writer who does nothing but comes up with things for him to say suitable to every occasion, but it is a sheer delight to listen to David Hewlett.  Practically every scene in Grace Under Pressure where he's basically talking to himself or hallucination Sam is pure pure gold.  His new whale friend! -Carson's accent, oh, I could just listen to it all day long.  It's such joy to listen to Carson talk as well.  He's not that old, but he calls everyone son and it's so adorable. -Tao of Rodney.  I probably would have made a separate post about it if Sunday hadn't made me so upset.  This episode made me cry and just...when Rodney starts trying to do nice things for people and actually apologizes to Zelenka and the Ronon hug!  Ugh, it's amazing -The way Radek talks to himself in Czech, especially when annoyed with Rodney -How we learn little things about Lorne, like him being a painter or that he sleepwalks -John and Elizabeth being possessed and fighting each other.  Who doesn't like a good possession episode?  Cadman/Rodney ftw, as well. -Woolsey taking over for Sam.  I was always going to be predisposed to liking him since I love Robert Picardo so much.  I liked that even though he was an antagonist when he first originated on SG1, he was a straight shooter and since I knew he was going to be on SGA, I figured he would straighten out even more, and they did a really good job of balancing the by the book guy with the living in the last frontier guy. -The city itself, it's really pretty and very cool, and has endless possibilities.  It flies! -David Hewlett's acting in the Shrine.  That opening video with him, I was absolutely blown away.  So good. -Ronon and John fighting with Bantos rods and hopping on one foot.  Bantos rod fighting scenes in general. -That real life siblings portrayed Rodney and Jeannie Miller.  It brought a huge element of awesome.  Jeannie is amazing! -The love triangle, for lack of a better term, was actually handled extremely well.  Granted, it's annoying in any shape or form, but Ronon and Rodney didn't get into some big pissing match over Jennifer and she made her feelings about what she wanted extremely clear instead of dithering around about it. -That Teyla realized it wouldn't be safe for her to be on the team while pregnant and that it was extremely hard to go back. Side note: I hate pregnancy storylines where the woman gets all shirty when people tell her to take it easy (particularly when her normal job is extremely dangerous) like they think she's less capable.   Uh, no, that's not being independent and strong, that's being stupid and selfish.  It is not weak to protect your child, it's common sense, and it reflects well on you, not poorly. -The song Beyond the Night and how they put it in the show.  It was so vastly different than anything either show had done before, but it was beautiful and well done. -Rodney, Jennifer, and Sam trying to get out of a hole in the ground together -Ronon and Teal'c fighting badass style together.  It took them a while, but they are the most metal crime fighting duo in the entire world -Rodney and Daniel interaction.  More and more and more please.  They bicker and snipe and work so well together, it's like a sarcasm orgy. -Ronon Dex fighting Wraith in a ware house.  Side by side cutting with Eliot Spencer fighting in a warehouse, please. -Todd the Wraith (and that they name the Wraith such ridiculous names). It's always better when your villains are ambiguously evil and you kind of like them.  Is Todd dead?  WE DON'T KNOW! -Ronon and Teyla holding hands while he takes her to the infirmary.  They are so adorable together and sweet. -While we're on the subject, I like Rodney and Jennifer together.  The only romance the show ever took the time to develop and too little too late some say.  But it makes sense to me and he learns a lot. -While we're further on the subject, I love the whole leaders in love thing that I could see going on with John and Elizabeth.  It also would have been nice to see develop. -Amelia kickboxing her way to victory -Chuck the Technician will never be as cool as Walter, but he's still pretty awesome -The episode where John time travels into the future and hologram Rodney shares with him everything that happened.  Really really cool. -Nanite hallucination for Elizabeth, really great job by Torri. -The Michael arc was very good, I think they could have done a lot more with it and planned it better, but the idea and him were really cool. -That Carson came back.  Oh, thank God that Carson came back.  A part of me is really sad that actual Carson is dead and some other man is living his life, but I figure he's the kind of man who wouldn't mind.  Rodney going and visiting his stasis pod gives me all kinds of feels.  Carson is literally the whole cinnamon roll too good and pure for this world meme. -Rodney delivers Torren! -Rodney being jealous of himself -Alternate dimension jumping Daedalus. -The way Rodney always says ZedPMs.  So Canadian! -Wraith Queen Teyla -Them trying to adjust to Earth again in the Return.  I love that Atlantis became their home and each other their family.  They don't belong on Earth anymore.   -John's speech to Teyla about how everyone is his family and there's nothing he wouldn't do for any of them -Woolsey kicking ass in their trial -Zelenka covered in body paint after spending time on the kid planet. -John's leadership style.  So casual, so intense.  "I'm sorry for shooting everybody!" -Ronon's smile.  Ronon's three freckles on his face.  His triangle eyebrows.   His hair.  His gun, ooh, I love his gun.  The way he lifts John in play that one time. -Twilight Bark/LOTR Beacon scene -The way everyone was obsessed with Lucius.  That was so funny. I don't like: -It felt like nothing was planned.  They just sort of...did whatever seemed cool to them and it resulted in poor resolution at times and extremely poor character/relationship development -That for an ensemble cast, so much emphasis was put on John and Rodney.  Maybe Buffy spoiled this as well for me, but in my opinion, if you're in the credits, you should be in every episode.  Even just a bit at the end or a bit at the beginning, but you should be involved.  (SG1 did this as well, but not as badly as SGA).  I could be wrong but they clearly made the effort to do this with John and Rodney so they were in every episode.  Even if the episode wasn't about them, there was some kind of scene with them in it.  So clearly, they were capable of that.  Things like Ronon and Teyla not being in the Vegas episode, annoy the heck out of me. -The kids leaving Rodney, Sam, and Jennifer to die in the hole.  Maybe I'm unrealistic, but I just feel like nobody would actually do that in such a dire situation. -They switched planets!  What about the Athosians new home?  It felt like we didn't even see what happened to them and then all of a sudden they were in a new place and missing from it. I always thought...maybe Atlantis was more about where it was then just the city itself.  Apparently not. -Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!  I mean, it'd probably be one of my favorite episodes if not for the end.  It's really cool that way, but I cannot forgive them for doing that to me.   Especially now that I know it was done on purpose to "shake things up" and for ratings since SG1 was ending. -Ford never had a chance.  He was never going to be my favorite, but they could have done so much more with him.  It's really sad how badly they botched that up.  Also, there's no reason they couldn't have actually developed him once they turned him into a psycho Wraith wanna be.  That would have been an amazing S2 character arc for him, but instead, it became 'guest star' and Ronon was clearly chosen to replace him. -Teyla's baby arc.  I get that Rachel was actually pregnant and I'm super glad they wrote it in rather than killing her off or making her stand behind furniture like a sitcom (totally not compatible with her active fighting or love of midriff-less clothing.)  But the whole thing was really rushed.  Like, how am I supposed to care about some random dude I've never met named Kanaan, who's the father of her baby?  Romance should evoke feelings, not blankness.  I just never got the chance to really care about them as a couple, which could be why I really have always seen Ronon and Teyla together, honestly. -They way they wrote Elizabeth out of the show.   It's horrendous and unacceptable.  They didn't know what to do with her?  Uh, so you actually take the time and figure it out.  Making her leave just because they wanted someone from SG1 to come on to the show is the stupidest thing.  She was amazing and a great leader and had a lot more to give.  So what if she was intended to be more of a General Hammond. Part of being a show runner is playing to your strengths and what people love.  Both of those things were Weir.  I love Sam, always have, always will, she did great, but, that was just another example of the horrible, horrible way Atlantis handled character development and why they were never quite as good as SG1.  Even the whole Elizabeth arc being resolved with her in a different Replicator body just felt wrong and disrespectful.  (All the Replicator stuff seemed a little bit off to me (especially as regards her) and maybe they just went a little bit crazy without taking the time to think things through). -The Genii as villains.  Ugh, they just rubbed me the wrong way.  Colm Meany is awesome as is Robert Davi, but they just didn't do it for me -Harmony.  Annoying children who deliberately manipulate adults and lie about what they've done to discredit another adult, are so awful.  Granted, Rodney is a petty, selfish, arrogant child himself, but John has no reason to suppose he's not telling the truth.  Not really.  Children shouldn't be allowed to get away with that.  It reminds me of my younger brother and he and I used to fight all the time when he would be a brat and annoy me on purpose.  My mom always said since I was older, I had to be more mature and not rise to it.  Perhaps true, but the most unfair thing ever and it still bothers me when I see it in others today. -Destruction of the Midway.  So sad, it was such a cool idea.  It's just annoying them always trying to figure out how to limit travel between Earth and Pegasus.  Just give them both ZPMs then! -Sam not being present at Brain Storm.  All the most brilliant scientists on Earth, my auntie.   (Bill Nye was cool!)  But just a simple exchange like Jennifer asking if Sam would be there and Rodney replying that no, she was off world, would have sufficed. -Remember when Jennifer, in her first scene, was all afraid of being CMO and didn't want the job?  Yeah, literally never mentioned again. Much more thematic problems with SGA, I'm afraid, but still plenty, plenty to love.

In Depth Look – Red Giant Universe 2.2
Red Giant develop and distribute some of the best plug-ins out there.  Shine and Magic Bullet Looks are my “go to” effects from Red Giant.  Way back in March 2014, they announced a new venture, Red Giant Universe.  At the time, Sean Safreed, Red Giant co-founder and CTO said:
“It’s rare we get to introduce technology that is entirely new!  Universe is an entirely new foundation for tools. It marries the simplicity of Javascript with the power of the GPU to deliver speedy renders and pixel-perfect results. Users are going to love how quickly we offer new plugins.”
And add effects they did.  Red Giant Universe has expanded from fifty effects at launch to now over seventy in just a few short years.  Let’s take a look at the newest release, Red Giant Universe 2.2, and see what it has to offer.
Red Giant Universe is in an interesting position in the Red Giant Family.  It’s a place where all the odds and ends go, and I don’t mean that in a negative way at all.  I can probably imagine how things go over a Red Giant.  One day the team is sitting around talking, and someone says “You know what would be really cool, if we had an effect to simulate a VHS tape playing in a machine!”.  So, they get the developers to come up with this effect.  Problem is that that kind of effect, a “one off” effect, doesn’t really fit in with any of the current product lines.  So where does it go?  Universe! Red Giant Universe is the home for all the very cool “brainstorm” effects that the team at Red Giant comes up with, and there have been some really good ones up until this point, like Glitch, Holomatrix 2, Camera Shake, Knoll Light Factory EZ, Heat Wave (one of my personal favorites), ToonIt Studio, HUD Components and Shrink Ray.  Now, I’ve listed eight of seventy six effects and transitions that are currently in RGU.   So, let’s talk about how RGU works, as it’s part of a subscription service that Red Giant has put forward.
COST
Red Giant Universe is available under a subscription model for $20 per month or $99 per year (an academic license will run you $49.50 per year, so 50% off).  I’ll be honest, the VHS effect alone is worth the $99 for the year, so having access to 76 effects and transitions for $99 per year, is pretty sweet!  RGU is supported in the below host applications, and your subscription cost covers use of the effects in all the installed programs on your machine.
Adobe After Effects CC (2018-2014)
Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2018-2014)
Apple Final Cut Pro X 10.2.3 or later
Apple Motion 5.3.2 or later
Avid Media Composer 8.9 or later*
Magix VEGAS Pro 14
Davinci Resolve 12.5
HitFilm Pro 2017
WHAT’S NEW IN UNIVERSE 2.2
This release of RGU gives users access to eleven new transitions , but the two biggest new features are, first, a huge update to the VHS effect including:
Preset Browser – VHS now has a Preset Browser so you can visually browse through the different presets. Previous version had a drop down menu.
Text and status icons – You can now add “Play”, “Stop”, “Rewind”, “FF”, “Eject” and “Auto Calibration” as well as corresponding icons. You can also add Timecode with offset controls and tape speed.
Enable Color Control checkbox – Users can now enable/disable the built in color grades in VHS. The previous version did not offer a way to disable the color grade.
We’ve added 3 new Tape Noise Types: Mixed Tracking, Color Noise, & Vertical Slip 2
And the other HUGE new feature is for Media Composer editors, and that is AVX support for Media Composer.  Eleven effects (9 effects including VHS and RetroGrade and two transitions) are included in the initial support for Media Composer, and there will be more goodness coming down the pipeline in future updates.  All the effects are real-time except for RetroGrade, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed for RT support in a future update!
PROMOTING RED GIANT UNIVERSE
This is always one thing that I really, REALLY like about Red Giant Software, and that is with almost every new release of software (Universe, Magic Bullet, etc), the team at Red Giant films will put together a movie, using effects from the package that was just released.  They are always very clever, and show off the effects, and what they can do really well!  This Red Giant Film, Hewlogram, is no different!  Starring David Hewlett of Stargate Atlantis Fame, Aharon Rabinowitz and with an extended cameo from Maxon CEO Paul Babb, Hewlogram is the exact reason why you should consider picking up Universe.  The film is a blast, and looks like a TV show from the 80’s, thanks to the great effects in Red Giant Universe 2.2.
Hewlogram”: A Completely Believable Plot Line for a 1980s Sci-Fi Buddy Cop TV ShowKnown for fun and clever short films that manage to entertain while showing off Red Giant visual effects and motion graphics tools, Red Giant’s newest film is no different from classics like “Old/New” and “Plot Device.” Written and directed by Aharon Rabinowitz, in his directorial debut, “Hewlogram” was born out of both Aharon’s love for holograms and David Hewlett’s love of visual effects tutorials. Hewlett, who is part of the all-star cast of Guillermo Del Toro’s forthcoming film, “The Shape of Water,” discovered Red Giant software through a bit of internet sleuthing.
In the end, if you already have Red Giant Universe, this update is just more of a good thing.  If you’re new to Red Giant Universe, definitely give it a look, as there are some great single effects, like VHS, that you won’t find anywhere else.  The quality of the effect (and all the effects, really) is spectacular, and the diversity of the parameters makes it, and all the other effects in RGU, ones that you can go back to over and over again, and get something different from it each time.  For more information, or to download a free trail of Red Giant Universe, you can check it out at the attached link.

10 Highlights From the 2017 SEMA Show
If you’re looking for immaculate show cars equipped with the latest and greatest aftermarket parts, you’ll find them at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you’re looking for serious race cars, OEM-built concept cars, or the weirdest custom builds you’ve ever seen, you’ll find those at SEMA, too. The point is, SEMA has a little something for every type of car fan. Here are some of Motor Trend’s cool finds at this year’s SEMA Show.
Hyundai BTR Edition Elantra Sport Concept
This is an example of how to take a humble sedan and turn it into something outrageous. The Hyundai Elantra Sport, which is probably one of the best kept secrets among sporty compacts, gets remade into a track-capable, bright orange bewinged four-door that can conquer a track without sacrificing its daily usability. – Stefan Ogbac
Toyota C-HR R-Tuned
This concept shows the C-HR could’ve made a great hatchback. A 600-hp 2.4-liter I-4 plus a five-speed manual transmission means this is quirky little crossover packs some serious firepower under the hood. Add to that Brembo brakes, racing tires, an aero kit that produces 300 pounds of downforce and a DG-Spec Motion Control Suspension that also lowers the car and you’ve got a proper hot hatch that can back up its extreme look with supercar-beating performance. Hopefully this is a hint that Toyota will eventually build a more powerful variant of the C-HR that will cater to buyers looking for a sportier small crossover. – Stefan Ogbac
Hyundai i30 N Race Car
Although the i30 N isn’t being sold in the U.S., the fact that the race car is here is a hint that our first N car isn’t too far away. This particular i30 N race car that Hyundai brought to the show has the special distinction of being one of the survivors of this year’s 24 Hours of the Nürburgring, placing fourth after performing reliably throughout the race. Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbo-four paired to a six-speed manual transmission. That powertrain makes 246 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque (279 lb-ft with overboost) in the standard i30 N or 271 hp with the Performance package. – Stefan Ogbac
Honda’s Entire Booth
Race everything. That’s the message Honda seemed to be sending at its booth at this year’s SEMA Show. Race car iterations of the Acura NSX, Honda Civic, Acura TLX, and Honda Ridgeline were all present at Honda’s booth this year alongside their production performance cars. Additionally, Honda and Acura also brought cool project cars like an all carbon fiber NSX and the NSX “Dream Project” by ScienceofSpeed. Perhaps the two center pieces of Honda’s booth were the ARX-05 Daytona Prototype International race car, which will participate at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January 2018, and the Civic Type R crate engine, which means you’ll now be able to stuff that 306-hp turbocharged and VTEC-equipped four-pot into any car that it will fit in, provided you’ve got a racing license and competition history. –Stefan Ogbac
The Cool Hologram Toyota Camry
Sitting quietly in the Toyota booth is a hologram that depicts the 2018 Toyota Camry in many different colors. It slowly brings out the car’s outlines before showing parts of the interior such as the seats. There are also mechanical parts like the radiator, alternator, and front suspension bits, which are then covered by the hologram.  – Stefan Ogbac
The Baller Hauler by Air Lift Performance
Outside of the show in the convention center parking lot, we saw this insane slammed Isuzu NPR flatbed truck carrying a matching classic Toyota AE86. If this doesn’t scream SEMA, we don’t know what does. – Carol Ngo
1973 BMW 3.0 CSL by Willy Izaquirre
This beautiful BMW build was caught at the Toyo Tires Treadpass just outside of the convention center. It features a turbocharged S52 engine swap. It also features a Group 4 widebody conversion with center-lock BBS wheels. What a beauty. – Carol Ngo
Robert Downey Jr.’s 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302
Painted “PPG Khaki yellow” and sitting on custom HRE wheels, this Mustang Boss 302 looks fantastic. But it’s not the color, the carbon-fiber body panels, or even the Roush-supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 under the hood that make this car so special. It’s the interior. Instead of continuing the carbon-fiber treatment inside the cabin, Robert Downey Jr. decided to use leather, cloth, and a whole lot of carpet. The result is an interior that looks absolutely incredible. Hopefully, this is a trend that catches on in the future. – Collin Woodard
Dodge Hellcat Crate Engine
We were excited to hear that Honda will sell a Civic Type R crate engine and can’t wait for someone to use it to create their own Honda Fit Type R. But Dodge’s announcement is even bigger news. Yes, it’s pricey, but come on. It’s a 707-hp engine you can shove into pretty much anything you want. Hellcat Wrangler? Hellcat Ram 1500? Hellcat Miata? Hellcat S2000? Please. Hellcat everything. – Collin Woodard
Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 AEV Concept
American Expedition Vehicles is known mostly for the Brute, a Hemi-powered Jeep Wrangler pickup truck it builds. But for SEMA this year, AEV teamed up with Chevrolet to turn the ZR2 into an awesome overland adventurer, and the result is one seriously cool truck. Sadly, there are no plans to put the AEV-modified Colorado into production, so there’s a good chance this stays a concept. That’s too bad, because AEV would probably sell every one of them it built, especially if it could sell them through Chevy dealers. Then again, if there’s enough demand, maybe both companies will change their minds. – Collin Woodard
