Hello beautiful people out here!
I am Deepali. I am from Pune, Maharashtra. I am 21 years old (shaadi ki umar)
Desi fleabag? Because I relate the most with that specific character. Horny, messy, vulnerable, and crazy all the time but also considerate, expressive, and kind. I am a desi version of her.
🎀What I like? I like to dance, sing, journal, write poems and stories, and doom scroll all the time
📍Professional side of me
I did my bachelor's in philosophy. I have been working in an organization for quite a long time. I am a content writer. I am a writer/poet. I am an open mic performer. I have performed at esteemed platforms like tapeatale, poemsindia, kommune, and many more. I am a psychology and sociology student too. I am a co-facilitator and youth lead in different schools through my organization. I have worked on poetry anthology books.
The most important part of my life is being a poet or a writer. It's been a decade since I started writing, and professionally, it's been two years. My poetry and stories revolve around different and unique topics like mental health, family dynamics, feminism, societal norms and culture, romance, life intricacies, friendship, etc. I love being a poet and telling people stories about me and the world because I believe poetry is everywhere. I have a blog called Sip and Sofa Stories where I share the most wholesome blogs and fun-to-read stories.
Not much of a reader, but I like reading poetry by Sylvia Plath and more female writers.
💌 Movies and songs? I am a die-hard fan of Bollywood. I listen to 2000s Bollywood and retro songs. No one can challenge me the way I vibe on these songs and dance. My childhood is memorable because of Sunidhi Chauhan, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, RD Burman, Asha Bhosle, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Arijit Singh, and many more artists. I also listen to Kpop, pop, indie type of music on days when I am dissociating at the fullest. Hold my clutcher, I am a Swiftie and Lana Del Rey fan too, bitch.
I love Bollywood movies, and I am yet to discover more Western movies. I have a bunch of comfort movies like Ye Jawani Hai Dewaani, Piku, Om Shaanti Om, etc.
🪕 My aesthetic type? A combination of Geet and Piku and a little bit of Poo vibe sometimes. But I love desi clothes. Kurti, jhumkas, bindi, bangles, oh god I love being a woman.
Interesting facts about me :
🌸I have three tattoos on my body (Crescent moon, "you're on your own kid" title, "grateful"). I love getting tattoos!!
🥃Loneliness who? I go to bars, cafes, and parks alone because why not. I fear no god.
💛I never was in a relationship, just some hardcore crushes who crushed my soul.
❤️🩹I have been in therapy for almost three years and on and off on meds. GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) gang assemble!
😶🌫️I love and hate spending time on LinkedIn. Girl boss era.
💬I write poetry about my crushes and defame my ex-friends. They know it very well! Lol.
I am a hopeless romantic and a professional delusional person. I will cook the best scenarios in my head and write about them. I romanticize life on another level though there are 156 rupees in my bank account by going to aesthetic cafes.

A while ago, I made this post while wondering what Hindi songs Charles might've listened to with his mom growing up in the 80s.
I feel like he might've listened to "Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana" by Kishor Kumar from the movie "Andaaz" and it just made me so fucking emotional while plaguing me with a very specific angsty scenarios.
My headcanon is that as a kid he could speak or understand Hindi, but as he grew up, due to the lack of practice he forgot. Imagine a 6 year old Charles listening to these lyrics and feeling hopeful about life and growing up:
ज़िंदगी एक सफ़र है सुहाना
यहाँ कल क्या हो किस ने जाना
चाँद-तारों से चलना है आगे
आसमानों से बढ़ना है आगे
पीछे रह जाएगा ये ज़माना
यहाँ कल क्या हो किसने जाना
Because things will be better when he grows up, right? Maybe his father won't be as angry and loud as he is now. Maybe his mom won't be so quiet. Maybe she won't turn off the music when he walks in. Maybe he and his mom will leave and go somewhere safe. Maybe maybe mayebe...
And then he dies at 16. He never gets to grow up. Never gets to see and experience life. So as he's dying, as his consciousness is fading and all his memories all playing in his head, fading and swirling around one after another, he hears a familiar music, he hears a song he doesn't understand anymore, he can't even discern the lyrics, it's all disorted somehow. Although he doesn't understand it, a feeling of peace and delight washes over him for a tiny moment, he hasn't felt this in a long time, and it's gone before he can grasp it.
Then he dies. He doesn't want to be dead. He wishes he got to grow up like everyone else. But he has an actual friend now, and he loves him. He makes being dead a lot easier. He can't imagine being dead with anyone else. He checks on his parents from time to time, and every time he does, a faint memory of a once familiar but now long forgotten melody reverberates through him for a second or two. He can never exactly put his finger on what it is that he's feeling.
[I got some vivid flashbacks of my mom playing this song and couldn't shake it off, so I just had to write this. She used to be a massive Kishor Kumar fan]

Outkast’s Big Boi, EDM artist Zedd, U.K. band Nothing But Thieves, Norwegian artist Aurora, rapper Hanumankind, guitarist-composer Cory Wong will perform in Mumbai on March 8 and 9, 2025
Anurag Tagat Sep 10, 2024
American punk-rock heroes Green Day, pop artist Shawn Mendes, U.K. hitmakers Glass Animals and singer-songwriter Louis Tomlinson are among top-billed acts making their India debut at Lollapalooza India 2025 in Mumbai, between March 8 and 9.
The lineup for the third edition of Lollapalooza India also includes rap veteran Big Boi from Outkast, U.K. band Nothing But Thieves, Norwegian pop artist Aurora, electronic artists like Zedd, John Summit and Alok, American guitarist-composer Cory Wong (known for his work with acts like Vulfpeck), breakout rapper Hanumankind (also our latest cover star), South Korean indie rock band Wave To Earth and rising pop artists Isabel LaRosa and more. Folk-indie singer-songwriter duo Lullanas – comprising Indian-origin siblings – will also make their India debut at Lollapalooza India 2025.
More Indian artists adding heft to the lineup include singer-songwriter Dot., rappers Raftaar and KR$NA, Punjabi artist Talwiinder, sitarist and fusion artist Niladri Kumar, pop artist Lisa Mishra, rock artist Raman Negi, Ahmedabad rap favorite Dhanji, producer Spryk, pianist-composer Sahil Vasudeva, DJ-producer Anushka, multi-instrumentalist-producer Sid Vashi, singer-songwriter Raghav Meattle and indie multi-instrumentalist/producer Sudan.
The announcement in September makes for meme-friendly news for Green Day, known for songs like “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” The band announced their India debut on Instagram and said, “Another first for us!! India, you’ve been calling our name… and it’s finally time to answer. We’ll see you in Mumbai next March for @LollaIndia.” The trio comprising Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool released their most recent album Saviors in 2024 and will likely dig into all-time hits like “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life),” “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and more. Shawn Mendes, known for hits “In My Blood,” “Treat You Better” and new single “Why Why Why,” returns to the live stage after more than two years on his current tour, which includes Lollapalooza India.
Louis Tomlinson, who has a big following in India following his time with pop group One Direction, will also make a long-awaited India debut. Fellow Brits Glass Animals are a big draw on the back of releasing their new album I Love You So F***ing Much in July, but primarily due to their 2020 hit “Heat Waves,” which was the seventh-most streamed song in India on Spotify in 2022.
Glass Animals founder Dave Bayley – who visited India as a 16-year-old – told Rolling Stone India in 2020, “Thank you for the support, I hope you are staying safe and healthy. We can’t wait to come and visit.”
In a wholly new strategy, Lollapalooza India’s 2025 lineup is out six months in advance of the multi-genre festival taking place in March. BookMyShow Live also took a similar approach while announcing the lineup for their festival Bandland, which is taking place on Nov. 23 and 24 in Bengaluru.
Get Lollapalooza India 2025 tickets here.
#oh it's green day's first show in india ever too!#wild considering they've been a band from before louis was even born haha#must day I feel like “singer-songwriter” while techinically correct doesn't really do to descripe louis as an artist..#lollapalooza india#louis#LT tour 2025#march 2025#green day#rolling stone#rolling stone india#article#10.09.24#press#m

Okay, I'm still on the John Oliver being in Edinburgh thing. I've just remembered this clip from Russell Howard's podcast, from November 2023. This clip, where John Oliver came as close as I've ever heard him to actually using the words "Chocolate Milk Gang" - they didn't quite say it, but they name checked several of its members and the restaurant where it was formed (Favorit).
They discuss John Oliver's early Edinburgh memories, he tells that story I've heard him tell a bunch of times about the time he performed to five people and they all walked out. But this time I noticed he called the venue the "Pleasance Below", which is cool because I've been there now! That's where I saw Jin Hao Li. So I can now accurately picture the room where John Oliver got left on the stage by himself halfway through the show, it's in the Jin Hao Li room.
Anyway, at 5:56 into the above clip, Russell Howard asks him if he wants to go back to Edinburgh, and he says he wants to go back and visit, but Kitson has told him he can't go back and expect it to be like it always was, the people he knew have all moved on and the places have all changed and the stuff he misses isn't there. And we know that Kitson has told John Oliver this, because of this other clip:
That's from Trifle, a radio show that Daniel Kitson did throughout August 2020, because he'd normally be in Edinburgh that month but it got canceled due to COVID. It's difficult to explain what Trifle was in a short paragraph, but basically it started as a regular nightly radio show where he played songs and talked about nothing, but in the last week or so there was a whole storyline in which he started losing his mind a bit from lockdown so he'd sneak out to see people, and finally he missed Edinburgh so much that he got in his camper van and drove all the way up there just to sit in the city of Edinburgh despite there being no festival. His friends called in because they were concerned about him. Tim Key, John Kearns, Rose Matafeo, and Nish Kumar all called at various points, and Gavin Osborn got involved, all telling him he's being stupid and dangerous and needs to do the sensible thing and come home. And after all these phone calls, his old friend John Oliver calls, and John Oliver's the only one who tells him that actually, this sounds like a good adventure and he should keep at it.
Spoiler alert (seriously, it's a really good radio show and worth listening to without reading the spoilers first if you're interested in that sort of thing, but I assume most people reading this won't be listening to that whole radio show so it's all right to spoil), it turns out the entire thing was made up, he'd never left his house. Meaning all those phone calls were scripted, he wrote the storyline and wrote the parts for his friends to call in. And he wrote that of all his friends, John Oliver was the only one encouraging him in the stupid ill-advised exciting adventure.
And to get the significance of that, you have to go back to Daniel Kitson's earlier comedy, circa 2003-2008 or so, which was full of stories about how much he loved what he called "adventures", going out at night and discovering things and feeling the magic in the world, and he loved to do this with his Chocolate Milk Gang friends, and he had all these stories about getting up to this stuff with John Oliver. And then post-2006, his stand-up about it became lamenting the fact that John had moved away and couldn't join him for spontaneous magic adventures anymore. And then they all moved on but in 2020 he wrote a whole big story where John Oliver calls to tell him to keep adventuring.
Kitson scripted all this, but I assume he based some of that phone call on his real conversations with John Oliver, because it sounds a lot like the conversation that John described to Russell Howard, doesn't it? John told Russell that Kitson had told him not to visit the Edinburgh Festival expecting to be like his nostalgia, the world's moved on and he can't go back. And this scripted conversation has John Oliver saying he misses Edinburgh, and Daniel Kitson telling him "The thing you miss is the future you once had," a line that kills me.
Kitson claims to be parked outside The Stand in that phone call, the venue where John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman used to do Political Animal, where Daniel Kitson performed all the time in his Chocolate Milk Gang days (and in other days, but especially back then). The Bandcamp recording of Kitson's show Dancing, recorded at The Stand in Edinburgh 2004, has John Oliver in the crowd, and at the end they announce that Political Animal is up next.
And the entire point of all that is to say it's stupid to try to go back to that place just to re-live past glories that you can't get back. But then, in 2024, on The Stand comedy club's Instagram page:
Guess what! It turns out you can just go back and re-live the past! It's fine! It's all still there! It's in a basement, in this case. It's usually in a basement.

[BECAUSE it's sth i've been thinking about a LOT lately.] bollywood started out very misogynistic. every time i watch an old movie, while i acknowledge the exceptions, most of them either show a woman who'd sleep with anyone for money or show a woman who's literally just a slave, that's IT. it took YEARS for it to make movies that don't show women in a bad light, that actually appreciate us. and apparently that lasted like, 10 years? (on and off, yk, in total) because now, everyone seems more interested in movies that have women as an accessory, looking pretty, not playing any active role, while her man does his job. *hearts and fire* while good, unproblematic movies get criticised for having "unrealistic expectations" or "too much feminism". they're so obsessed with all that "alpha" "sigma" "masculine" bullshit. it's so. pathetic. so fucking infuriating. yeah-
hard agree. like the english vinglish, queen, kahaani era was truly the peak of women centric bollywood movies. after that even though such movies were still being made, they shifted from being empowering to being condescending. like if you are a strong independent woman, then you must drink and hook up with random men and wear revealing clothes and whatnot. the feminism became too focused on the urban young woman and lost its essence in my opinion. like i can name so many popular recent film/series (4 more shots, thank you for coming, veere di wedding) which are just trying so hard to be relatable that they end up feeling tone deaf and people start hating them and going back to the same old bullshit heroine is an accessory movies (this also means that the actual good movies (qala, bulbull, etc) just go under the radar which is equally irritating 🙄).
as far as the sigma male thing goes, i am so so tired of these directors and actors showing toxic behaviour on screen without showing its fucking consequences. like the man can do anything and the director will make sure that he has a happy ending cause true love is obviously all about forgiveness and accepting everything even if it hurts you. salman khan, akshay kumar, srk, ranbir kapoor, literally every hero rn is guilty of accepting and promoting such scripts. like even in jawaan, there were 5-6 actresses yet srk had all the fkn screentime. i get he's a big actor but god?? give the actresses something other than a song???? maybe a few emotions??? don't even get me started on kabir singh and animal and even pushpa. 🙄

Life is a trip.
I remember my freshman year of high school, in 2004, Athens Olympics, Michael Phelps won his first of many gold medals, Usain Bolt didn’t qualify out of the 200 meter heat, Abby Wambach and the USWNT won gold, Manu Ginóbili and Argentina won gold. Harold & Kumar went to White Castle, Crash came out, Lost premiered, Martha Stewart went to jail, Halo 2 came out, safe to say, 2004 was eventful. 20 years later, I am now called unc, because well, that’s life and that’s time. One day you’re a tiny 14 year old freshman, before you know it, you’re 34, wondering how you can get to your goals. Replaying every mistake, overthinking the simplest shit while you’re chasing, racing, fighting against an internal clock that is ticking faster than Usain Bolt, no one can see it, but you can feel it.
Excuse my tongue but social media has fucked us up. I’ve been on apps forever, AIM, MSN, Hotel Habbo, MySpace, all of it before the ones you see today. Maybe I was young and naive but these social media apps have us all fucked up, in some way or another. As the old adage goes, comparison is a thief of joy. As I scroll, I wonder am I doing this life thing right? I got laid off from a job I loved. I am freelancing, consistently looking for a new job, getting rejected; questioning my talent, questioning myself. Am I good enough? It’s easy to go on IG, Twitter, TikTok, hell even LinkedIn or whatever have you and feel you’re behind the 8 Ball. People are “winning”, their life looks cool. Working with brands you want to work with, having opportunities that you want, you wonder what have I done wrong to not be here. Do I quit? Do I keep going? Do they see the work I have put in? Millions of thoughts along these lines.
Professionally, I feel I should be further along and it’s frustrating; bouncing around from opportunity to opportunity. You begin to internalize every job rejection, you begin to believe something is wrong with you when you get laid off. You know what you are good at but it doesn’t show. Now you’re scared to apply for jobs, scared to reach out for help. Frustrated at the world and it spills to every facet of your life. Your friendships, relationships, everything is ary. How do you show your talent to the world and ask for someone, anyone, to take a chance on you. Knowing that you can do the job and you have a unique perspective. You don’t want to share with the world and now you’re here wondering what the hell is going on.
I try to give myself grace, even writing this, it feels like the ramblings of a mad man. It’s something I’ve never done, something I vowed to never do, vent and be personal on the internet. But turning 34, I felt I wanted to share something. Someone out there might read this and take inspiration, or take anything from it. As I’ve aged, I am sure of myself, sure of where I want to be and what I want to do, personally and professionally. But the demons, the demons fight harder than Buster Douglas on Feb. 11, 1990 (look it up if you don’t get it).
I’ve reflected on my last year, hell the last decade. Love lost, love gained, friends lost, friends gained, opportunities lost, opportunities gained. Life has a way of showing you that it’s how you react and bounce back. We all go through shit, the cards are stacked against some of us harder than others. I miss some friends, I am self aware to know where I fucked up and wish the best for those people.
My relationship with God is very complex but it’s funny how things get you reading the bible and reflecting on everything. I listened to “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers”, “Count me out” had me stuck. I never felt more vulnerable, more afraid but yet so fearless. “One of these lives, I'ma make things right With the wrongs I've done, that's when I unite With the Father, Son, 'til then, I fight.” Starting a song like that, with fresh ears, I got it. Kendrick was extremely vulnerable on this album, especially on this track. “Fuck with you from, fuck with you from a distance Some put it on the Devil when they fall short I put it on my ego, lord of all lords, Sometimes I fall for her, dawg” has been on my spirit for months.
I’ll wrap these thoughts up shortly. Give yourself grace, don’t be hard on yourself. We are not perfect, we are human. We try, everyday. We mess up things but don’t let it define you.
Try to be your best self, everyday, we will fall short. Have empathy for your fellow human, there are some dickheads but try not to be one yourself.
In my 34 years of life, I am slowly becoming happy with who I am. There’s still work to be done.
For those of you who are in my life, my friends, my associates, my family, I love you. Thank you for guiding me. Thank you for your patience.
For those who are no longer with me, I am sorry. I still love you.
I can’t please everybody.

Semi-coherent self indulgent ramble about Edinburgh below, mostly because I forget things if I don’t record them somewhere - feel free to ignore…
- Within 10 minutes of getting off the train we spotted David O’Doherty, the first show we were seeing that night, I too loudly whispered ‘look, David O’Doherty, green bike helmet, oh my god’ and was instantly ashamed at having so little cool about that stuff although he either didn’t hear me or just convincingly acted that way - his show was fantastic, one of my favourites, I will always be excited to hear his ‘beefs’ song - shortly after the show while I was at the bar my friend saw him walk past with Josie Long, I was pretty relieved as I’m sure I would have started crying as I told her how much I loved her book
- Show 2: Frank Skinner, I wasn’t sure about this when we booked it, the audience demographic changed massively and it was a huge shift from lovely DO’D, he definitely flirted with some more ‘old school’ stuff about brexit but then moved away from the obvious jokes, enjoyable but not so much my thing, Russell Howard and David Baddiel were in the audience taking the comedian count up to 4
- Show 3: Simon Amstell was the last show of day 1 - very much a work in progress but enjoyed it, different again from the first 2 shows, we were talking to some people the next day who said they had seen him a few years ago and would never go again as he was so self involved, couldn’t argue with that so I suppose it comes down to if you like him in the first place?
- Day 2, show 1 was Daniel Kitson - just wonderful, he makes its look so easy, hard to talk about without going into the premise but so far removed from the work in progress show earlier in the year and I can’t wait to see it again once it’s ‘complete’
- Show 2: Tarot, another work in progress - I absolutely love them and was cackling like an idiot for the whole thing and can’t wait to see finished show, was accidentally too enthusiastic and got pulled into some very mild audience participation regarding Mr Blobby (and my brain just can’t do audience participation) pretty sure my response was shite but it didn’t even dent how much I loved it
- Show 3: Stuart Goldsmith - bang on the front row (at the side at least) good lord he has VERY twinkly eyes… also I think the first proper ‘themed’ show we saw, good but very strong competition based on earlier shows of the day
- Show 4: Last minute scarper to the next street over to see Stuart Laws, the first show where I hadn’t seen them before either live or on TV, great visual gag fairly early on. Really enjoyed it, more low quality audience participation from myself… decision taken not to sit on the front row again if I could help it
- Show 5: Nish Kumar was brilliant and I could have listened to him screaming about the government all night, also the loudest audience of the weekend and everyone in the room loved him. Ed Gamble was in the crowd and got some stick which was fun, it was billed as a work in progress but I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was unplanned and he just ranted for the whole hour
- Last show was an ‘All Stars’ show at the Udderbelly, booked mainly because we couldn’t get to see Chloe Petts’ main show - she was fantastic obviously - also loved Lara Ricote
- Day 3, show 1: Ed Gamble, brings out the mum vibes in me despite only being 5 years younger, I find myself thinking he’s a lovely young man, and so handsome too etc He was very funny despite the smell in the venue and the actual children in the crowd, have tickets for the tour next year and am hoping to see him walk onstage wearing his camping trousers
- Show 2: The same stinking venue (Hive 1) for Alison Spittle who took the step of spraying air freshener around the room, great segment where she made assumptions about people’s lives based on their favourite soups, the show was a last minute booking but fantastic
-Show 3: Paul Merton’s Impro Pals, we booked this based on our shared childhood love of watching him on Have I Got News For You, the friendly posh lady we sat next to told us she didn’t like it when comedy was political so we decided not mention how much we enjoyed Nish…it was fun but very ‘lite’ and we were ready to get shouted at by an angry Scottish man
- Show 4: Frankie Boyle, lots of shouting and calling people cunts, lots of his psychotic giggle, couple of what appeared to be walk outs but who knows really, he only heckled the blokes leaving the room which was interesting, took the Prince Andrew is a nonce joke count up by about 100 and loads of fun stuff about the royals which I enjoyed
- Show 5: Buffy Revamped - the only non-stand up show we saw but it was great fun, crowd was full of very enthusiastic people and some VERY drunk people but he handled them expertly
- Show 6: Ivo Graham - pretty chaotic and I’m not sure if it was because it started late or if that’s just the show/the man, regardless it was really fun and had a great audience participation angle that would have worked really really well if the show was extended over a couple of hours, still a great last show of the weekend
This was my first trip to Edinburgh and it was amazing, the bad stuff I had prepared for wasn’t as bad as expected (the crowds, the queuing etc) although it was obviously expensive and I doubt I could afford it every year, also it totally fried my brain so I’m spending the next week indoors and not talking to any other humans as much as possible
Disappointed not to have spotted a wild Watto and also guilty we couldn’t fit his show in, but I am going to see Search next month and have his book on pre-order so I hope that balances things out in the long-run (see also John Robins but with Howl later in the year and without the book) and I didn’t give up hope of a no more jockeys show until ludicrously late into the weekend
I think our comedian spotting skills were fairly poor - we also saw Paul Chowdry and Paul Williams (separately) out and about and then Amy Annette walking down the street with Nish and Ed after Nish’s show, but that’s it
Thus ends my ramble - pics of the stages etc on my equally ‘not of much interest to anyone but me’ shows I’ve been to blog @mylifeintickets

Today, we remember Pandit Narendra Sharma on his birth anniversary. He was a famous poet, wrote songs for Hindi movies, and started the radio channel Vividh Bharati (02/28).
Pandit Sharma was known for his beautiful poetry, songwriting, and deep knowledge of Hindi and Urdu languages. He brought a special style to Indian movies by mixing old Indian poetry styles with the beauty of Urdu poetry. He played a big role in making the radio channel Vividh Bharati very popular when it was struggling, bringing its listeners to nearly 35 crore people.
He wrote unforgettable songs for movies like “Jyoti Kalash Chhalke” from “Bhabhi Ki Chudiyan” in 1961, and both “Yashomati maiya se bole nandlala” and the main song “Satyam Shivam Sundaram” from the movie “Satyam Shivam Sundaram” in 1979.
Pandit Sharma was born on February 28, 1913, in Jahangirpur, Uttar Pradesh. He studied English literature at Allahabad University and was part of India’s fight for independence. He was friends with famous poet Harivanshrai Bachchan and wrote poetry in Hindi that many people loved.
In 1942, he was invited to Bombay (now Mumbai) to write songs for movies. His first movie as a songwriter was “Hamaari Baat” in 1943, starring Raj Kapoor. He also suggested the stage name ‘Dilip Kumar’ for the actor Yusuf Khan, a name that became very famous in Indian cinema. His songs, especially when sung by Lata Mangeshkar, became very popular.
Apart from movies, Pandit Sharma’s work in radio was groundbreaking. In 1952, India’s Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru asked him to help start Vividh Bharati on All India Radio, which became a huge success and had a massive audience by 1970. Some famous radio shows, like Binaca Geetmala, became very popular because of him. He worked with Vividh Bharati until he retired.
Pandit Sharma also wrote many religious songs and poems outside of movies. One of his most famous songs is the title track of the movie “Satyam Shivam Sundaram,” which talks about beauty and truth. This song got him a nomination for a Filmfare award.
He passed away on February 11, 1989, but his work continues to inspire many with its deep messages about life and beauty.

I saw this list when it first went up a while ago, thought it was incredibly fucking weird, meant to make a post about that, but then got distracted and forgot to do so. I was reminded of it yesterday, when Mark Watson referenced it in his show, because of course he did. Of course it took Mark Watson under five minutes to bring up 1) the fact that the was on a list of the 50 greatest comedians of the 21st Century, and 2) the fact that he was only number 50 on the list and he's worried about all the people ranked ahead of him. And, he said, three of the people above him are shit.
To be honest, that's generous. I mean, I realize he was sort of joking, but still, there are definitely more than three shit comedians on that list. And just overall, it's fucking weird. These lists are always weird, you can't rank anything as subjective as comedy, and they never perfectly reflect who's actually most talented at the craft. But still, even by the standards of weird bullshit lists, this one is really weird.
First of all, it’s weird that they called it a list of the greatest stand-up comedians of the 21st Century, instead of specifying British comedians, or comedians who've done most of their work in Britain, given that that's almost the entire list. I hate things that are America-centric, and even I have to admit that there are definitely more Americans than that among the 50 funniest comedians worldwide of the last 23 years.
Having said that, Inside was brilliant, a lot of his older songs are also very funny, but Bo Burham is not the funniest comedian in the world. Tim Key is very funny, but... third best? In the entire world? I fucking love Mae Martin, but... are there really only five people in the whole entire world who are funnier than them? They're above Billy Connolly and Eddie Izzard?
Nina Conti at 13 is just a massive insult to #14-50 and everyone not on the list. I honestly feel like that must just be the Telegraph writer fucking with people. I'm funnier than Nina Conti. My only thought is you could sort of blame it on them being a Tory paper - ventriloquism is fairly old school, maybe they like that? But Frankie Boyle's higher than her. Nish Kumar's on the list. This specific list isn't that pro-Tory.
I find Lara Ricote very funny, she won the Edinburgh Newcomer award last year and while I haven't heard the show I'm guessing it was deserved based on other stuff I've heard her do. But there's a massive leap between "best new comedian at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022" and "30th best comedian in the world". Also, if they're trying to include 2022 Edinburgh winners to show that the new comedians are also good, it's weird that they left off Sam Campbell, who won the actual award (the thing that is no longer Perrier). He's funnier than quite a few people on that list.
Also, no Jimmy Carr. I don't think Jimmy Carr is among the 50 funniest comedians in the world. But he is objectively a big deal. Michael McIntyre is on the list, and I refuse to believe the person who wrote this list genuinely thinks he’s the 27th funniest person in the whole world. They included him because you have to, you can’t ignore a guy that big. You’d think Jimmy Carr would be in the same boat.
On the subject of people I might not put on the list, but should probably be included for similar reasons, not a single Russell. Not a single one of those Russells they have now (on that subject, actually, I do find putting Stewart Lee second kind of funny). Lee Mack's not on the list either, he's played arenas.
Ed Byrne? Not even on the list? I'm not saying he's the funniest comedian in the world and would belong on a perfectly done list, but this means they're saying every person on this list is funnier than Ed Byrne. Mickey Flannigan is not funnier than Ed Byrne.
No John Oliver, host of the biggest satire show in America. I mean, there are giant swathes of extremely successful Americans being left out, but you'd think they might include that one since he's also British. Wrote that paragraph, then remembered it's specifically a list of stand-ups. Leaving the paragraph in with the strikethrough because I think John Oliver's stand-up is extremely underrated and he's very, very good at it and would deserve be included for that. But it's not what he's well known for now.
Kitson is right to make jokes about people waxing poetic about him being the greatest stand-up of his generation. I get that he's tired of hearing that and that it's not that simple. But putting him at 18th, below Nina Conti and Adam Riches, seems like going too far the other way.
What a weird fucking list. I guess that's the point of these things, maybe being intentionally weird to make people talk about it. I guess technically I've just linked to a Tory paper from my blog, which is not a great idea. In my defence, I am not driving a large amount of traffic to it. I'd feel a greater responsibility to avoid that if my blog weren't tiny. And none of this matters. It's just really weird.

01.02.24 im making my peace with knowing my favorite musical genre are fucking soundtracks
cabaret / liza minelli: this is the definition of fantastic. wow. almost desperately lively. which i guess fits the scene, but i havent watched the movie:( also, that ‘tomorrow belongs to me’? that was fucking scary. made me feel surrounded…..
let me drown / orville peck: what a voice, man. i need to listen to him live eventually. feels like he’s so lost…. what vulnerability!
pimp / bacao rhythm & steel band: have yall seen ‘anatomy of a fall’? it’s so immersive, it had me transfixed. and well. this 50 cent cover is really catchy, what can i say
yunhi kat jaayega / kumar sanu & alka yagnik: one day i felt like listening to something bollywood because i like the grand scale of some of their musicals. stumbled upon this song from ‘hum hain rahi pyar ke’ and loved it. i didnt even know what the movie was about until a couple of seconds ago
portuguese dance ii / jerskin fendrix: this one is from ‘poor things’. witnessing a person grow and develop into themselves in 2 hours was fascinating, and so was the soundtrack. i really liked some of the design choices for the spaces, but i grew tired of the oversaturated skies and how clear it was that all exterior scenes were sets. i dont like when you can feel the real scale in how the fictional scale is presented
perfect illusion / lady gaga: i was never really a stan, but i did make my twitter account just so i could vote for gaga in whatever awards. and saying she’s my favorite artist is also my Official Stance, but i dont listen much to her (old policy of mine so i dont get tired of the songs i really really like, u know?). but this song got pulled of streaming for like a day or two, and then i listened to it, and bam. its so fun!!!! have yall seen the video of her in the desert for this one? it really sums up the energy. thx joanne
