sweetface, angelface
2.2k words
; canon compliant/post season 11, domestic fluff, sibling love, gallavich, fiona and ian + fiona and mickey, past regrets, mild hurt/comfort but mostly just sweet
Ian and Mickey's West Side apartment is silent when Fiona lets herself in with the spare key she borrowed from Lip. The quiet is thick in a way that it never was back in the Gallagher house - quiet always meant something terrible had happened, and rarely lasted more than a minute or two in their neighbourhood - and Fiona has to pause to take it in with a deep breath.
Lip had warned her that her visit was poorly timed. Ian had been climbing up the mental steps towards another high which had resulted in a quick and easy adjustment of his medication, and while Ian was resilient and experienced after so many years of learning the ins and outs of being bipolar, it had still left him sleepy and distant as his brain got used to the change in chemicals. He'd been off work for half a week - a long time for someone finding their footing in the real world - and Mickey had taken the past couple of days off to take care of his husband, something that had taken Fiona back to Ian's first depressive episode as soon as Lip had told her. Mickey's determination to take care of Ian, his hardheaded love for her little brother, and the fear in his eyes as he rambled about the sudden shift in Ian's behaviour.
She'd been less than supportive back then, knowing that Ian needed real treatment more than he needed love in that moment, but hearing now how Mickey's determination has persisted for years longer than they'd ever expected had made her heart ache.
Ian had always been her baby. Since that first night Frank left her and her only siblings at the time out on the street and she'd carried a feverish Ian and teary Lip to the clinic he'd been her baby. Lip was the second oldest, a role that came with signifcantly less responsibility but still enough of it for him to be her rock through those first few years of playing house all by herself. But for the years before Debbie was born Ian had been the youngest, the one who needed the most care, and even after their other siblings were born and Ian became Lip's best friend instead of just his little brother, the need to take care of him had lingered for Fiona.
It didn't help that Ian was so sweet and kind, always wearing his heart on his sleeve in a way that Fiona and Lip never did. He was vulnerable, and even when he kept his aches and pains to himself it was obvious when he was hurt. She wanted, always had wanted, to shelter him from as much as she could, even when she had too much on her plate to know his whereabouts or the names of kids bothering him at school.
Despite the desire to keep him safe, Fiona knew that he had slipped through the cracks more often than his siblings had. Maybe it was the sweet smile he gave her when she asked if he was alright, maybe it was the resilience that shone through when he started navigating his sexuality by himself, maybe it was his dreams of the army and the tough guy exterior he put on whenever he talked about West Point. Whatever the reason, he'd been left behind when she fussed over Lip being in school, when Debbie got pregnant, when Carl came back from juvie. He was the apple of her eye, but he was so meek sometimes that it was easy to focus on the rest of the kids and what they needed from her.
She knows now that she could've done more. That she should've been glad Ian was with Mickey instead of some guy who was old enough to be his father, who there'd been far too many of without any of them stopping to question what the hell those men were doing with their brother. She should have fought to bring him home when he ran off to the army the same way she fought to bring Lip home after he dropped out, and she should've done more than turn a blind eye when he started working at clubs and came home skinny, high out of his mind with eyeliner still smeared around his lashline. She should've carried him to safety, the same way she did that night when it was just the three of them alone in the world for the first time. There was no way she could have done a perfect job at raising all five of the kids - she knows that too - but her heart aches when she thinks of the times Ian slipped through all of their fingers without a safety net to catch him.
She owes Ian, forever her little brother and the only sibling she calls 'sweetface', for not trying to understand him better. For not trying harder to love the only boyfriend who had been there through the first highs and lows without ever turning his back on him. Ian did okay even without those things, she can see as much as she looks around the little apartment. The family photos in frames on the TV stand, the taupe couch with only one stain, the coffeetable with a half-full ashtray she recognises from their old home. He did okay because, despite being a softer kid than any of them had the courage to be, he was strong. She smiles when she spots a wedding picture hung above the TV, Ian and Mickey holding each other's faces like the rest of the world had fallen away at that moment. She wishes she'd been there, will likely wish as much for the rest of her life, but she's here now and has to hope that's enough.
The clattering of dishes pulls her out of her thoughts. She can hear coffee being put to brew, the soft shuffle of socked feet coming from the kitchen. She blinks back the dull ache in her chest and makes her way to the source of the noise, smiling when she sees Mickey leaning against the counter, an unlit cigarette between his lips as he puts two Pop-Tarts in the toaster. He startles at her presence but smiles as soon as he sees her.
"Hey Fi," he greets, setting aside his cigarette and allowing her to hug him hello without a struggle, which is a win for Fiona even if he doesn't really return the touch. He's softer in their new environment she realises, more relaxed than he ever was when he was in the same neighbourhood as his family. She pulls back and gives his arm a squeeze, smiling warmly at the sight of the wedding ring on his finger.
"Hi angelface," she says. Mickey immediately turns to the doorway, looking for something before he freezes and turns his attention back to Fiona, brows drawn tight together as he looks her up and down.
"Thought you were talking to Ian," he mumbles, pulling away from her touch as though to get a better look at her. "Where the fuck did that come from?"
Fiona can't help but laugh, shrugging off her jacket and draping it over the back of one of the chairs at their kitchen table.
"Ian's always been sweetface," she says, watching how Mickey's expression softens as she says that. "I was thinkin' the whole way over that you ought to have a nickname too."
"Y'know, I was doin' fine without one," Mickey grumbles, but the furrow between his brows has disappeared, a half-amused smirk on his lips.
"Count yourself lucky you didn't get one the day he started lookin' at you like you hung the moon and fucking stars," she jokes, which makes him snicker. She thinks back to the days Ian and Mickey were just teenagers wrapped around each other's little fingers, smiling little smiles that they only shared with each other and falling asleep side by side in whatever cramped space was available to them, be it Ian's childhood bed or the worn and torn Gallagher couch. Mickey had been the farthest thing from an angel at the time and he's still pretty far off, but if she could go back she'd have started calling him angelface the second he proved he was in it for the long haul. She takes a deep breath and perches on the edge of the table. "How's he been?"
"Good," Mickey says quickly, not dismissively but confidently, his blue eyes fond as he glances towards the doorway again. "Sleepin' a lot but he's eating and keeping up a routine and all that shit. He"– Mickey hesitates here, eyes darting back and forth between Fiona's face and the floor as a flush climbs his cheeks. –"works real fuckin' hard, y'know? He doesn't want anyone to worry, not like when we were kids. He knows his shit and he fuckin'... He works hard."
Fiona smiles. She does know. Ian's never been half-hearted in anything he cares about, and hearing that he cares about taking care of himself soothes some of the worry that's always going to nag at her, wondering if he's got his head above water.
"Helps that he's got you," she says, giving Mickey some of the long overdue credit she never let him have before. Mickey rolls his eyes and his fingers twitch like he's going to flip her off but ultimately he just pulls out three mugs to pour coffee into. She smiles, recalling how he was with Mandy, bickering and cussing back and forth but always reserving a special kind of sweetness for each other that they didn't share with anyone else in their family. Fiona knows better than anyone that siblings can't be replaced, but him offering her a little of the friendliness he used to reserve for his little sister makes her happy.
"Fi."
Ian's voice, slow and rough with sleep, breaks the comfortable silence in the kitchen. Fiona jumps up and launches herself at her little brother in a tight hug, smiling into his shoulder when he wraps his arms around her.
"I didn't know you were coming over," he mumbles, tucking his face down into her shoulder the same way he used to do back when they were the same height. He has to bend his neck down to do it now, making himself smaller as she brings a hand up to run her fingers through his curls.
"Lip called after you went to sleep, didn't wanna wake you," Mickey explains, voice soft.
Fiona grins as she pulls away from him, leaning up to kiss his cheek.
"Hey, sweetface," she murmurs, pinching his cheek and pulling a whine from Ian. "Forgot how tall you are."
"You were gone for too long," he replies, but there's no hard feelings in his voice. She still thinks about the day she left, visiting him in prison and squeezing his hands tight so she wouldn't forget the warmth of his palms once she let go. His smile, supportive and sad and excited all at once had reflected all of her own feelings and tied her stomach in knots but also grounded her, reminding her that her family would always be here for her to come home to. She kisses his cheek again even though this too makes him whine before finally letting him go.
"Now that you got your own place I'll visit more often," she reassures him. Through the bleary, sleepy expression on his face Ian smiles.
"You better," he jokes, before stepping over to kiss Mickey's cheek. She watches them exchange gentle 'good morning's, Mickey's hand trailing up and down Ian's spine in a way that's so casual, so clearly the norm for them, that she has to look away before she gets teary-eyed.
They sit around the kitchen table, coffee mugs and Pop-Tarts and pills and cigarettes all carefully laid out in front of them. Seeing them go about their lives with her there, mumbling about bills and what they dreamt last night and whether or not the movie they've been wanting to watch will be easy to pirate, is the best gift she's ever received. Lip has his own family, Carl has a great job, Debbie is a better mother than Monica ever dreamed of being, Liam is cleverer than any of them and Ian is doing well. Better than well, even after everything he's been through, after being let down in ways Fiona will never be able to forget. They all did good with what they were given, but it's Ian's life - cozy and safe and domestic - that makes her happiest.
"You're never gonna guess what she fuckin' called me, man," Mickey says suddenly, drawing Fiona's attention back to the present. Ian raises an eyebrow and turns his attention to his big sister, already smiling before she says anything.
"You're sweetface, only makes sense if he's angelface," she defends the sappy nickname, giggling when Ian laughs out loud. Mickey is only slightly less amused, blushing when Ian reaches out to hold his hand.
"Makes sense to me, Mick," he says, which has his husband rolling his eyes.
"Course you'd side with her, fuckin' payback for me siding with Debbie one time, huh?" he mutters, which brings forth another round of teasing from Ian. Fiona listens to them and makes a mental note to ask about Mickey and Debbie later. For now she just steeps in the peace of their apartment, of the life they've carved out for themselves, and breathes a sigh of relief.

Hi! Can I request Chifuyu, Kazutora, Ran, and Mitsuya with a s/o who has been accused of something and they actually believe it. All the evidence points to s/o but it’s not her. She tries to prove her innocence but her boyfriend won’t listen to her. Her boyfriend even ignores her or makes her feel guilty, even though she knows she is innocent. Finally the truth comes out and her boyfriend feels bad about treating her terribly and believing the lies. Pls fill it with angst. Thank you!
Crush You Right Back | Chifuyu, Kazutora, Mitsuya, and Ran
- Falsely accusing their s/o
Part 1 | Part 2
warnings: cussing, mentions of cheating
genre: angst
A/N: This is such a good idea. I hope you'll be able to enjoy this, anon! Wrote this around 4 A.M yesterday while the rain was pouring and I felt like I was in a music video LMAO.
Chifuyu Matsuno
Being accused of something is one thing. But being accused by your lover is another.
Your relationship with Chifuyu has been falling apart. It has been weeks when your boyfriend stopped talking to you. What's worse is you don't even know if you're still together anymore.
You weren't sure how Chifuyu got the story, but he suddenly accused you of going out with a man from another gang and cheating on him. According to Chifuyu's source, you were seen being all over this person while Toman was out and busy kicking ass.
You tried telling Chifuyu that you have no idea where this was all coming from. But your boyfriend never even tried to listen. He just pointed his finger at you and cried out his frustrations. Something out of character for him.
"I never thought that I'll be with a fucking cheater. Goodbye, Y/N," were the last lines of Chifuyu before he left your apartment.
Just the thought of it makes your heart clench. But what hurts more is Chifuyu - someone who you truly love and trusted - accusing you of cheating. Something that you never thought of doing in a million years.
If Chifuyu's going to walk out on you like that, you just wished he would've ended properly.
However, Chifuyu's heart was filled with guilt. The cheating accusation got the worse of him. He never thought that you'll do it, but hearing something like that triggered him.
Now here he is, on the other side of your door, thinking of how he would face you after accusing you of something like that. After weeks of ignoring you, he found out yesterday that it was the wrong person. Apparently, it was a s/o of another member of Toman who has similar features as you.
How can he be so fucking foolish?
As Chifuyu was about to knock on your door, you on the other hand opened it as you were on your way out to have some air.
"Chifuyu?" you said surprised.
Chifuyu was surprised. The guilt eating him even more as he looked at you with puffy eyes and a swollen face.
"Never thought you'll show up," you continued.
You can't help but be angry at him though. After ending things without even hearing you out, you'll use this chance.
"Y/N, I'm...sorry," Chifuyu said, tears brimming in his eyes. "I know I fucked up, but...I believe you now," he said.
"Believe me now? Chifuyu, you should've believed me from the start," you said, trying to sound angry despite feeling your cheeks get wet.
"Please, Y/N...just let me make it up to you. I beg you," Chifuyu said as he hugged you. "You're the only person I've ever loved,"
"Love isn't enough. You should've trusted me," you said pushing him away.
"Goodbye, Chifuyu," you said as you shut the door on him.
Your heart is crushed by hearing Chifuyu sob on the other side of the door. But you can't turn back now.
He's the one who shattered your trust after all.
Kazutora Hanemiya
Every relationship has its challenges, you knew that.
But distrusting your partner and accusing them of something that you know they couldn't possibly do isn't one of the challenges you would've expected.
Kazutora, your dear boyfriend, has accused you of spreading rumors about his crime and the things he has gone through while he was in juvie. The rumors spread like a wildfire in the gang and to other people for that matter.
It's not like Kazutora cared about what other people would think of him. The main issue is that you were apparently the one who spread those rumors.
You were the only person that he cared and trusted enough for those secrets. So why would you do that to him?
But it's not like you really did.
Even if a gun is pointed at your head, you'll NEVER betray Kazutora. But why is it easy for him to trust those rumors?
Maybe he never loved you. Maybe he only used you. Maybe he got bored and decided to end things off by trusting those rumors.
You can never forget the night how he easily pointed the finger at you and left you all sobbing and pleading while he walked away and told you to never talk to him again.
Meanwhile, Kazutora has been staring at his phone for over an hour now. Thinking if he should call you or not.
Fuck it.
Kazutora felt like his soul will leave out of his body. What if you don't answer? What if you wouldn't listen to him?
"Kazutora?" a voice answered on the line.
"Y/N! Thank God I thought you'll ignore me," Kazutora said, a thorn felt like being removed off his chest.
"Like how you did to me? I'm not like that," you replied, trying to remain calm.
"Y/N, look. I'm sorry if I accused you of that. Well, I just found out that the main culprit was someone I was with while in juvie. They just wanted to break us apart and get through me," Kazutora explained. "...and I just thought, we can see each other again?"
You felt tears pooling out of your eyes. Your heart screaming for Kazutora while your mind fighting for what is right.
"Kazutora, I think you're getting it wrong," you said, trying to conceal the sting in your voice "You said to never talk to you again, and I thought it's right,"
"What?" Kazutora said, his heart dropping from what he's about to hear.
"Y/N, are you..breaking up with me?" he asked, hand gripping tightly on the phone.
"No. Kazu, you're the one who broke up with me. And, I'm just telling this to clear things up," you explained.
"Y/N, I'm sorry. Please, don't do this to me," Kazutora cried.
"That apology was all I ever wanted to hear. Thank you, Kazu," you replied, sadness dripping in your voice as you ended the call.
You were the last ray of hope for Kazutora, and now you're gone because of him.
All because of a stupid rumor, and his distrust of you.
Mitsuya Takashi
He just wanted to punch himself for being so fucking dumb. How can he be oblivious?
About a week ago, someone tipped off Toman that you were a member of the enemy gang and that you used Mitsuya to get in information. When Mikey found out about this, he immediately instructed Mitsuya to break things off with you.
But after the fight with the said gang, they found out that none of those things about you were true. You were only used to manipulate and throw Toman off.
Now, Mitsuya regretted the things he has said to you.
What your boyfriend told you was truly hurtful. When he brought up those things about you being a spy, the words that spilled out of Mitsuya didn't sound like Mitsuya at all.
"I regret this, Y/N," was what Mitsuya said before ending things with you.
It's like your voice and your side didn't even matter at all.
Mitsuya was a nice boyfriend. Perfect, even. You never even thought that the day that he'll break your heart will come. One where he didn't even try to let you explain.
How can you possibly be a spy from another gang? That sounded dumb enough. You didn't even think that Mitsuya will be dumb enough to believe it.
Here you are, moping around your couch as you finished another tub of ice cream - the only thing keeping you sane from your heartbreak. And to your surprise, you heard a knock on your door.
Thinking that it was Emma, who has been coming by to comfort you, you headed for the door.
"Emma, thank you for your care but-" you cut off yourself, surprised as to who was it.
"Mitsuya," you said, surprise evident in your tone.
"Y/N, I came here to fix things up," Mitsuya said as he stared into your eyes.
You gulped. Just staring at your now ex-boyfriend.
Seeing Mitsuya made your head spin and your heart hurt. Despite missing him, all you could ever think of was how he said that he regretted being with you.
You tried to shut the door off, but Mitsuya was quick to hold into it.
"Y/N, look, I'm sorry," Mitsuya said "I should've known it wasn't you. I should've. But I didn't. And I am sorry," he said, worry painted all over his face.
"You said you regretted it," you said, trying to look everywhere but Mitsuya.
"I was wrong," he replied.
"Mitsuya, I don't even care if you're wrong or right. I might miss you, but you hurt me," you said as your voice cracked.
"Just leave me alone, please," you said as you close your eyes.
"Y/N, at least let me work on us," Mitsuya pleaded, now holding onto your hands.
You shook your hand away from him.
"I SAID LEAVE!" you half-shouted, not caring what the neighbors would think.
Mitsuya loosened the grip on your hand. His heart, crushing from you pushing him away.
And with that, you shut him off.
Maybe you'll regret this, maybe you won't. But at least today, you saved yourself from what you thought was just another foolishness.
Ran Haitani
Was an apology and a bouquet of roses ever enough for the damage to be caused?
Ran held onto the flowers as he thought of the things he'll say to you. How he's sorry. How he regrets everything he said.
If only he could turn back the time.
It has been a month since Ran stopped talking to you. He wasn't really clear if you two have already broken up, but you assumed you were.
Ran accused you of leaking him and Rindou's plan on ambushing the enemy gang and being paid for exchange. How can he not assume it was you when you were the only person who knew besides Rindou?
He handled the situation roughly. He could remember how it was a long argument over the night.
-
"And you were the only person I told you this about Y/N? You!" Ran said in between gritted teeth.
"And I told you, Ran. It wasn't me. I would never snitch on you like that," you cried while defending yourself.
"So you're telling me it's Rindou?" he replied.
"NO! Rindou would never! Ran, maybe the other gang saw this was coming!" you argued helplessly.
"Yeah. They saw it coming because it was you,". Ran said as he pointed a finger, "YOU, Y/N!"
"Ran... I love you, I won't do that," you said as tears fall from your eyes.
"Bullshit," Ran replied. "Don't ever come to see me again,"
That's what all Ran said before he left you.
-
Remembering that argument, made you feel stupid and foolish that someone, who's one of the notorious Haitani brothers could ever believe you.
But it was all buried now in your heart. If Ran can't build trust with you, you can with others.
And now Ran felt guilty and over the edge. Apparently, you were right. The enemy gang was able to predict their move because their plan was poor.
Now here he is, holding onto his speech of apology and his plan to win you back.
But that was all shattered when Ran saw you. Back facing him. But he knew it was you. How could he not? He loves you, and he knows you like the palm of his hand.
Here you are, right in front of his eyes smiling beautifully as ever. But, you were smiling for another person.
And it isn't for him.
Right. He left you. How could he expect you to just mope around and cry over him? You're beautiful, outgoing, and confident - one of the few reasons why he fell in love with you. Of course it's no surprise if others would see the same.
And all Ran could do was stare and regret.
He might be a Haitani and could have everything in Roppongi, but you.

It’s just hard for me to look at Robby the same way after he shaved hawks Mohawk because every other bad thing Robby has done on the show has been a complete accident, this was out of pure cruelty. He wanted to break Eli’s spirit by having him go back to the insecure and depressed version he was of himself in season 1 and for everybody to go back to just knowing him as/making fun of him for his lip, and the worst part is neither Robby or the show in general acknowledge this as a bad thing, it’s simply treated as Eli’s karma. And I know a lot of people say that Robby ended up redeeming himself by showing respect to Eli at the AVT and everything is cool between them now but that wasn’t my interpretation of that scene at all
I will acknowledge that Robby in S4 was acting cruelly this season. However, he's being manipulated by Silver, who himself is a psychopath, and he spent the last season being manipulated by Kreese, who is also a psychopath. Frankly, it's a miracle Robby retained any humanity at all, being a teenager in such a terrifying situation.
And also, not to say that him shaving Hawk's head was in any way acceptable (it was assault, and no one deserves that), but Robby did think he was in the right, because he thought Hawk was bullying Kenny. Now, he was obviously wrong, but given Hawk's prior actions (notably in S3, when he and the other Cobras ambushed Nate, when he broke Demetri's arm, when he slutshamed Sam, etc), it's not unbelievable to think that Hawk might be bullying someone else. I already think Hawk's "redemption arc" was fast-tracked this season...but that's another post 😂
What I take issue with is flat-out villainizing Robby. Even back in S3, when there was a possibility of Robby apologizing to Miguel post-S3 (it would've been speculative, but isn't that fandom's specialty anyway?), people were villainizing him outright. And it's frustrating, because yes, of course Robby owed Miguel an apology (and still does), but at that point, his first interaction with Miguel since juvie was seeing him and Sam acting couple-y. There was potential for Robby to apologize later...and obviously that never happened, but it could've, yet some fans refused to consider that perspective when it was plausible (people have bent canon before, but this was somehow the exception??)
(Note that I am talking about some fans, not all. Those fans know who they are)
Robby absolutely needs to apologize to Hawk properly, and to Miguel properly, you're absolutely right about that, anon. Just as Hawk's apologies to Demetri, Sam, Nate, and even Chris should've been shown onscreen. However, villainizing any of the teens when Kreese and Silver are right there...that doesn't sit right with me. Hold the teens accountable, but don't call any of them "the real villain," that's missing the point.
