Tutor (Neville longbottom x Slytherin!Reader)

Note: Hello there! This is my introduction back into writing so my apologize if it isnt all too great. I really enjoyed writing this and getting back into the groove of things! I hope you enjoy, oh I also wish to thank the amazing writer @okaymalfcy for giving me the motivation to write this and the courage to publish it! If by some crazy means you havent already check their writing out do so right now! Its brilliant, I mean truely brilliant! Okay thats all from me! Enjoy!

Chapter 2

It was a cold and crisp winter day, your favourite kind of days .It was the kind of day that forced you to wear your best bobble hats and cosy jackets to keep your bones from freezing off, the kind that made you huddle close into the blazing fire while the thick blanket draped over your shoulders is shared with your dearest friends in the late afternoon with a steaming cup of hot chocolate held tightly in your hands. The kind of day that makes the sweetest memories that could never be forgotten no matter how many years pass.

These kinds of days only became more amazing with your introduction to with fine wizarding school of hogwarts.

As wonderful as winter in the muggle world can be , it is nothing compared to that of a winter in the wonderful wizarding world. With hot chocolate that makes its own marshmallows and has the most amazing you will ever taste, snowmen that come to life with a gentle flick of a wand and talk to you until your ears fall off , snowball fights only improved with the help of magic, letting you throw at least three at a time at your target and sledging down the steepest, snowiest hills at unimaginable speeds to only keep soaring miles through the air on the very same sleigh seconds later!

It was all truly wonderful, but all still very new to you, even if it was your fourth year at Hogwarts. You were raised in a normal, but lovely, muggle home. A normal, lovley home that did not include flying broomsticks and powerful potions as much as your smaller self would have loved it. You never even knew about the wonder that was the wizarding world until you received your acceptance letter at the ripe age of eleven. A letter that  would set your life on a rare rollercoaster that your wildest youngest dreams could never counger up.

As lovley as it was though, your muggle upbringing is always whispered about amongst your fellow peers, your fellow slytherins that is.

Many of them proudly strive for “blood purity” amongst the school, so the mere thought of having a muggleborn share the same common room as them gave many of them a feeling that could only be described as disgust. To be quite honest, you were still confused as to why you were sorted into slytherin, you were very different from the setreotypical description of a slytherin. You were intelligent and wise, traits held by the house of  ravenclaw, you were loyal and accepting, typically characteristics of a hufflepuff, and you were also brave and outspoken, that of a gryffindor. So you didnt know just why you were a slytherin, you weren't cunning like other slytherins, as far as you knew anyway. What you did know was that if being muggleborn gave a reason for your house to mock and shame you, your unique personality definitely didn't help.

Though your loneliness did often dampen your spirits, your lack of friends gave you plenty of free time after classes, the majority of which was spent in the library doing what you loved, reading. Your passion for reading and learning made you quite smart, that was undoubted, it was well known that your grades rivaled those of the well known gryffindor Hermoine Granger. (something you were justly proud about.) However, it seemed that all the reading in the world couldn't help you wrap your head around one particular subject. Herbology. Whether it was remembering the conditions each magical plant needed, or the use for its beautiful roots and leaves, you always struggled with retaining anything the kind Professor Sprout taught you. Today was no acception.

You fidgeted in your seat and your leg bounce anxiously underneath your desk. Your eyes scanned the question on the sheet below you , it was still rather empty with answers, for a fourth or fifth time trying to think of what the use for cowbane is. Come to think of it you don't even remember learning about cowbane, or even hearing about it at all. Merlin, you were doomed.

By the end of the test, you had only written down four answers, all of which you were certain were incorrect. Professor Sprout asked the class to hand her their papers as they left the greenhouse before the test began. Once she announced that you could leave you shot out of you chair and quickly made a beeline to the exit, you disappointedly but quickly handed your almost empty test to the Professor and left the greenhouse. You could finally forget about that horrible herbology class and focus on your next subject, potions. That was until about five fast steps later you were summoned by the professor and asked to stay back, along with another student, Neville longbottom.

You recognised the name as soon as it left her lips. He was a Gryffindor boy, fourth year as well. Very unfortunate and accident prone but great at herbology, had a real talent with it, so it made no sense as to why he was asked to stay back, he's great at this subject, and the Professor knew it too, she makes sure to announce it when he gets high grades on her tests, much to his embarrassment.

You both waited silently in the greenhouse as the crowd of chattering students poured out, handing their answer filed papers to the professor one by one.

You could already hear her giving you the speech in your head, wishing that you’d try a little harder in her subject, and then you're grades might improve. It’s a conversation you have both had many times before. You glanced beside you at Neville, his face looked as confused as you were to why he was here. He looked a bit nervous too. An expression much more familiar to Neville’s face.

By now all the students had left, it was only you, Neville and Professor Sprout in the cool greenhouse. There was an awkward silence spread across the room, you and Neville gave a quick glance to each other, as if you were asking the other to say something, you both looked to the professor who now was correcting the papers, it seemed she had forgotten you and Neville were even there. After what left like a lifetime, Neville broke the silence.

“E-excuse me Professor, if you don't mind me asking, what was it you needed?” He asked curiously.

He was quite a shy and nervous boy, it was clear from his quiet but polite tone of voice. Professor Sprout looked up at you both, with a confused look, matching yours and Nevilles, then her eyebrows raised, she had remembered something.

 “Oh yes! Neville you see, Y/N here has been struggling a bit with this subject, and I was wondering if it's not too much hassle if you could tutor her to help elevate her grades, points will be awarded to gryffindor for this of course.”

Your eyes widened and your cheeks dusted with a light pink from embarrassment, she was right, you were struggling and a tutor would be a great help, but its still embarrassing you that you needed such help in the first place.

Nevilles face looked a bit shocked if anything, you shared a few classes, mainly potions, transfiguration and of course herbology, so he was aware of how smart you were, both you and Hermione often getting the highest grades in the other two subjects, so it was a little surprising to think you found herbology, a subject he found so easy and fun, to be difficult. What was more shocking to him is that you, a slytherin needed his help with it too. 

His eyes darted like a game of pinball. They went from the professor, to you, to the floor, to you again, to the floor, and finally back to the professor. His fingers nervously tapped against his leg inside his pocket. He didnt know what to say, you were a slytherin after all, which scared him a lot more then he wanted, what if you were just like most slytherins? Though now he thought of it you didn't talk in class like most slytherins, you didn't really talk at all, to anyone, but maybe there was for a reason. Even so, you were good at potions that he knew. Its always been a subject he struggles with, so if he said yes then maybe you could help him, that way you’re both happy.

“S-sure professor”  

Professor sprout smiled at you both, the edge of your lip raised and you returned a small grin back at her, finally you had some hope in this subject.

Episode 4 Confessionals

RTP is a monster. Anyway, we fucking crushed that immunity. I wanted Jordan pines voted out. I've only ever played one org with him and he was my nemesis and I just don't have the mental capacity to deal with a nemesis in this one. Why couldn't Willa have done better

we won the music video.. and my ass edited a full video plus a roast after never using adobe premiere before so im pretty shook!! our tribe definitiely seems more... "kumbaya" than the other tribe which... eh. i want the drama! but other than that our tribes good. i def feel like ive been getting complacent with talking to people so im gonna start trying to ramp back up my social game to how it was in the first round hopefully?? i need to start talking more and making bonds. (not much i can really do though, willow katie and chris are on the bottom) i just have to ensure theyre still on the bottom and hopefully keep katie safe for me to work with?? willow and chris can go i guess. also charlotte can go too tbh. like id prefer me/bryce/zach/katie over me/bryce/zach/charlotte but a returnees alliance is easier to put together, so ill work with charlotte!! idk why i dont wanna work with her i just dont get a good vibe from her?? sounds dumb but im trying to trust my gut. and ... yeah not much has happened and i dont wanna make major waves just yet.

Free rice is so fun and not having to do grammar? Amazing! Hope I can do well in this challenge to show I'm useful. I feel like their isn't a lot of socializing happening on our tribe but I'm gonna try to change that. katieare propane torches dangerous? WILLA IS FINALLY GONE. God I can't believe he didn't compete in a single challenge and managed to not get first boot. We did Emma so dirty, I can't believe it, bring her back. Anyway, going in this reward challenge I'm not too fussed about whether we win or not, it would be nice to see what the Wishing Well is all about but eh, I'm not too fussed. Immunity is what I really want because now that we got rid of the dead weight I think the fingers may start to pointed at the winners AKA me and Jay. We have enough votes to tie it since Jordan is with us. We could potentially swing Adam but he's very much linked with Ryan who is linked with Lexi so it's...a mess. No tribal pls @ immunity gods!

Wow we won another challenge. Is the other tribe even trying? I didn't want to submit too much in case I seemed like a threat so I'm happy that I didn't do the most and we still won. I never find anything in the wishing well tho. Wish I knew who was picking the right number. But focusing on the positive, we won again!! ryan matthewi literally don't know what to do if we go to tribal. i won't want the full jordan pines experience to be blindsided by him. obviously lexi and i are a duo so im hoping we have options if that happens....

So I was looking over my Malaysia confessionals for some reason. What started as me trying to find my FTC speech turned into me reliving horrible and painful memories of Mitchell Kalabang calling me an idiot in many creative ways. Anyways, the reason I mention this is because I noticed that I made a lot of good, detailed confessionals in that game and I want to make sure I can do the same here for Athena. Well as of now, I think I'm in an okay position. I make a bit of chit chat with everyone now and again. I'll need to step that up today though just in case we go to tribal. I admit I've been slacking in my relationships with anyone who's name doesn't rhyme with Pordan Jines. I did congratulate Ryan on winning Kvaløya and told Adam that I'm not gonna vote him out, so that's something. Lexi also came to me and was like "I promise I'll do better on the challenge next time." Like I'm some authority on effort. Ryan probably told her that I was a little annoyed that no one tried in the video challenge. To sum it up, Jordan Pines will always be targeted before me so I am perfectly content letting him take the reins for the time being. I have decent relationships with Ryan and Adam. Lexi is with Ryan for sure. And Luke sketches me out just like every other game I've played with him. I hope we win immunity. 

So we need to win this immunity or we fucked. Like it just doesn't make sense to me. On this tribe we have me jay luke ryan and adam. In theory we should never lose a challenge, but theory is dumb and we lose everything. Like we've managed to keep a cohesive group that i honestly think genuinly likes each other but like, if we lose its all over. If we win this immunity we can hopefully swap and go into it 6-6 and maybe bring katie over to our side. If we lose however everything is done. We go into what may be a divided tribal and lose any hope of keeping a tight 6. We can't lose. Dear god let us win immunity BryceCurrently I'm worried about Zach/Charlotte but I still trust them just something to look out for. Hoping we can win this immunity but if not I think I'd want chris or willow out probably but I'd fall back on my alliance with Zach/Charlotte/Carson

So of course our next immunity is a typing challenge. With this other tribe as insanely fast at typing as they are, I'm really not liking our chances at winning this immunity. I've been pretty busy the past couple of days so I feel like I may be in trouble if we lose.

I love nothing more than a true underdog story. Zach and Bryce came in the fucking CLUTCH and pulled out that win for us. I can't believe it. In all my days of winning immunity challenges with a tribe, this is probably my favorite one. I'm so happy. I genuinely like everyone on my tribe and I'm so happy we aren't splitting up. Cue RTP laughing at this confessional because we're probably gonna have a swap next.

Like ik im probs jinxing something but this game is boring nobody wants to talk game. also everyone just ends conversations after they respond to how are you, and i try and make  small talk... like?? whatevs. im focusing on this game and i rlly wanna make merge. (also zach + bryce killed it woo i love them) nothing is rlly happening in this game which sucks. i predict that therell be a swap next round which is.. eh?? idk how i feel about that but im hoping i wont be swapfucked. (also i think im acc becoming good friends with zach and im happy hes gr8!!)

Wow me and Zach scoring all the points is good. I don't want to be seen as a challenge threat tho in case we swap and I'm somehow not in numbers. It's odd how like everyone hounds Jordan Pines and I can't tell if its jokingly or if hes enemy number 1 FJSDFHSJDF. I'm glad to not go to tribal and to have a 7-5 advantage. Whenever I talk to Willow we talk about nothing for like 2 minutes and thats it. Hasn't eaten meatloaf wish I were her, but hasn't had enchiladas? suspicious... Maybe shes vegan but even still how can I trust someone who doesn't know the goodness of an enchilada. Really wish I had some idea what was happening with the other tribe. Not being in a one world situation is different and I wish I could talk to them more to get a better picture seeing as how I'm going in blind if we swap/merge. Anyways that's all for now

I am well and truly fucked. I slept through all of my alarms last night and ended up missing the immunity challenge which we LOST. Guess what the agenda for the last two people who were voted off was? They didn't compete in challenges. Guess what I just didn't do? COMPETE IN A FUCKING CHALLENGE. God I'm so screwed. My only hope right now is that Jordan and Jay don't hate me enough to vote with me and try and break up the duo of Ryan and Lexi. I'm going to have to pray that Adam will want to work with me too otherwise the vote will tie and I do NOT trust Jay enough to go to rocks for me. Jordan might do that but I don't trust Jay at all to risk his life like that for me. I have a lot of work to put into today so...pray for me. 

WE WON IMMUNITYT! I'm so happy, i need to make two confessionals so this is one: im so happy i pulled through. I tried so hard to focus and make sure we didn't go to tribal because genuinely I like everyone on our tribe andd i'd feel bad voting anyone tbh. im not best socially right now and i think i need to use this time critically. tribe assessment: bryce-  iconic king. he's good at challenges, and i think him and i are semi close. i'm down for working w him and i think he's a good asset carson - my favourite i guess? im closest to him, him and i talk a LOT, and he's super fun and social. i'm a lil worried down the road ideally because of his social game, but for now he's an ally charlotte - her and i are in two games together, so it's risky. i trust her and like her, but our social game w/ one another isn't like phenomenal or anything. She is super sweet Chris - Like... him and I talk a fair amount, not a lot, but he's super cool. I love his puppy (or whoevers puppy that is) and i think he's super sweeet katie - similar as Chris. her and I dont talk a LOT but shes really cool and i think she's a good asset challenge-wise. willow- i love her she's so sweet but she never replies (or often, at least) so RIP! I do think ill end up working w her down the road though, she's a queen -- overall i do like everyone so going to tribal would be awful because i have to vote one out. BUT, theres been speculation on an upcoming swap too... so that's intense. but, nonetheless, im here for twists!

Ok so this is my immunity challenge confessional. We never win reward so i knew we were probably doomed and will never see the wishing well. but i didnt really care about reward. NOW FOR IMMUNITY. im alittle nervous because i feel like since we got rid of the non actives i'm the next in line. So i did my best for the immunity challenge. I mean i got 2 out of the 4 points we scored so i did half the work which in my opinion shows i care a bit. we were in the lead and then the other tribes whole fucking tribe comes out of nowhere and kicks our ass and im just like .....bye

Ok this is my before tribal council confessional. So after we lost ryan created an alliance with me,himself,jay, and jordan. which ok i dont trust jordan that much but i gotta take what i can get. They all want adam out even tho luke didnt do shit for the challenge. Which i like adam but not enough to try to switch the vote. So i prevoted adam but ryan and i feel like some shady shit may happen and one of us will go since people know were best friends. I'll raise hell if ryan goes and hopefully he'd do the same if i go. But i guess we'll see

Man this idol is gonna be so hard to find asdjkfadjsk wish their were hints to it AdamIt sucks that we lost the challenge. I didn't help much more than trying a few times in the beginning. I think I'll like it better when I can do individual challenges, cuz then I only have me to do the challenge so if I don't do it its just skin off my back. I have to make it there first, and that requires good relations with my tribemates, so I can't slack off anymore if I want to maintain that. I don't know what I'm going to do about tribal. I voted Luke but it really blows that we lost because I really liked all my teammates. Thats unfortunate b/c I could bond with them but I guess if me and Luke are ever on the same tribe I can let him know and work with him. I was thinking Zach and Charlotte were really close but Charlotte didn't know about the idol map so maybe they aren't. But yaa I just asked my alliance to tell me who to give it to because I have no idea about any of those people having never played with them. Carson initially wanted me to give it to Jay O but then I decided to ask my whole alliance for input to try to make it seem like I'm close with them and want to stay together, which I did. Face to face vs imdb

Directors are often the best way to gauge what a film is truly all about, as films come out and everyone is trying to work out the message, everyone being a mix of fan pages and film critics. So before we go to see a film most of us will google it to read the reviews, however these kind of ratings are not always accurate, sites such as Imdb (Internet movie database) and rotten tomatoes offer a numerical rating system to try and tell people what most people think of the film. However this does not always work because basing ones option on the opinion of strangers wouldn’t dictate your preferences. For example people might dislike a film due to its violence or very particular sense of humour, while these things might strongly appeal to you.  

Other people wouldn’t bother regarding these, like me, people have affiliations with certain actors or directors as we can see Baywatch has a very low rating but people who are fans of Dwayne Johnson and Zac Effron would probably not even bother reading reviews because they’re big fans. 

This is more true with Directors. Since most directors follow their own conventions and have a fan base, for example The new film Baby Driver is out from the infamous British director Edgar Wright, this director has almost a cult following on his few films, from his early work in the TV show SPACED to his most famous woks like Scot Pilgrim vs the world and Hot Fuzz. If your favourite director had a new film people would rather hear what they have to say about the film than reading what other people think of it. 

“In Quantitative research the researcher is usually concerned to be able to say that his or her findings can be generalised beyond the confines of the particular context in which the research was conducted.” Social Research Methods by Alan Bryman.

This shows the contrast between Qualitative and Quantitive research, the top and bottom of it is that there are two types of people, those who will base their movie designs on numerical data and those who will judge it by peoples opinions. 

Survey Monkey 

I did some primary research into what kind of script I should write. I did this by creating an online survey on survey monkey. 

Creating a survey because I have already done Qualitative research into my script ideally discussing with my associates about what makes a good film, also i find the best qualitative research when writing a script is to watch films from the genre you’re interested in, this creates a basis of what kind of aspects certain genres have.  

I took this question to see how often people actually go and see new films. I mostly did this to gauge if the people who took the survey were film enthusiasts I did assume they were as they’re the students in the Media class. But this showed it.

It is always interesting to see if people are open to new films i know of people from my Qualitative research that only really go ands films if it has a desirable actor in it or a preferred director, and people aren’t solely based upon whether the trailer is good, I wanted to see how many people would go and see film in the cinema, new films, and the people who watch films on Netflix or Amazon for reasons ranging from money to laziness, I asked this because a films opening cinema weekend is very important and this is why a lot of films fail. 

I wanted to ask this question because Sci-Fi is very normally mixed with action or thriller, but i thought a Sci-Fi comedy mash up would be good. But 14% of my focus group thought it would be a good idea. 

The same amount of people voted for horror, comedy and romance collaborations but both were smashed by Sci-Fi/Action which is clearly the most popular sub genre of sci-fi films but from my secondary research I found that while there are a lot of sci-fi/action made every year but i find that a lot of them, fail and aren’t remembered in few years. But I feel that sic-fi/comedys however are memorable, such as Paul, Attack the Block and Hot Tub Time Machine. These films don’t have the budget or the cast that big Sci-Fi/Action films have but these films are arguably more memorable and profitable.                

I asked this to try and figure out what makes a film most appealing to my focus group. The results were surprising, judging by the cinemas recently I would have guessed that Violence and Cars would be the top of the list but surprisingly Nudity scored highest. I would class this as an anomaly but still useful information.

I asked this solely to find out what makes the age group I targeted which were the people in my class aged 17-25 about what made them enjoy a film. Judging by other research i have done i have now looked back at the validity of this question, the phrasing of the question and the audience it was aimed at there is a discrepancy regarding whether or not people have taken this question seriously. 

This is a question I was interested to know the answer to, with so many old films being rejuvenations like the new Star Wars saga and with the new Jurassic World which is a sequel to the original from the 80s. I wanted to know if people liked this or if they preferred original stories, both my primary research and secondary shows that people do like original. 

I was extremely interested in this because i dabbled with potentially spoofing an older film for comedic affect.  My primary research into a lot of star wars fandom in particular it is a very split decision as to whether these old classics i have mentioned are best left alone and if remakes, rebooting or making sequels/prequels tarnish the memory of the original film which is cherished by many. As I expected though people responded with liking original films, which a lot of sic-fi’s are because it is such a broad genre, with not much of a strong structure. I think this research shows that an original Sci-Fi Comedy would be a success.  

Jamie Bulger Tragedy with regard to the film Childs Play.

On the 12th of February 1993 2 year old Jamie Bulger was kidnapped and brutally murdered by two ten year old boys. The story shocked the nation, these two children had now become the youngest convicted murderers in modern Birtish history; there was a overwhelming desire to find out why two young boys would do something as awful as this, were they influenced by someone? Are they evil? Or insane? All of these questions were attempted to be brought to light, most famously in the Newson Report. 

The Newson report has been slated in years after its release in 1994, a year after the murder, the report is no more than seven pages and draws no real resolution to the horrors that took place, the report was called “rushed” and “inaccurate”. Nevertheless it is the only report, of its time at least, which really looks at whether violence on screen can affect violence in real life, the general consensus is that it does, but only a bit, and thats why there are age restrictions on films. 

While we were already under the impression that people used to violence or who have had a long enough exposure to violence so as not to view it as evil, can be the ones who commit horrible acts like this. It cannot be pinned on films. the Newson report quotes “film makers” asking critics of violence “have you been tempted to become a serial killer by watching our films?” The credibility of this is slightly dirtied by the fact that Elizabeth Newson isn't quoting anyone in particular just a general comment: she goes on to say while this opinion does stand that if this made people serial killers wouldn't everyone be one? That would be ignoring differing stability, as Newson puts it, and it does not consider the level of maturity of the viewer. 

One piece of media was brought to light during the Bulger case in particular. The films Childs Play (1989), where the infamous character of Chucky came from. The children admitted to being fans of the film, even though it is illegal for them to see them as Childs Play was released as an 18, classed as the oldest in british broadcasting, for the blood and gore featured in this slasher film. 

This film in particular has been pointed at for causing the Jamie Bulger tragedy. I don't think this can be said, to pin this much evil onto a film that thousands of people have seen and based on this; in my opinion I would say that the crimes committed on that day in 1993 cannot be pinned on all films let alone one. I would call this a psychopathic killing as it says in the report the toddler was struck 30 times with bricks and an iron bar, the two boys said they had to use this force because he kept getting up, Elizabeth Newson compares this to a rape scene in an unnamed film showing her unprofessionalism. I don't think the evil that Jon Venables and Robert Thompson has been caused by one factor i think that people do these things because they're deeply disturbed because of a cosmopolitan of reasons.          

Communication between now and 1985

In the past decade or so communication technology has come a ridiculously long way with mobile phones, and smart phones, becoming more and more of a norm. And from this rise of smartphones has come a new age of Apps, all sorts of apps, for communicating, WhatsApp and Snapchat to name a couple.

Snapchat have very recently came out wit ha new update, Snapchat maps, this allows you to scroll out of the app, and view wherever your contacts are on a map. Sounds cool? There is a friends of friends setting, and the location is as direct as to the exact house. This means that someone you don't know who has one of your contacts as a contact can see which house you are in at any time. Sounds creepy doesn't it. There is ghost mode on the app which means you cannot be seen and you can turn off the friends of friends and even block particular people so really while it doesn't seem it we are quite in control of our data. The creepiness comes from people realising how easily they can be tracked, I didn't choose to update this app they do it automatically which means they already have access to all of your data from your phone including its location. 

Compared to 1985, which was an uncertain time, in the middle of Thatchers Britain; there were no mobile phones, and so no tracking, there has always been an inbuilt paranoia of being tracked by the government but without the technology it was seen as just that; paranoia. Talking to my parents who were both born in the earl 60s and so were adults by 1985 say that the biggest difference is the use of time, the concept of meeting someone at a particular time on a particular day is apparently lost on our generations, I see where this comes from; why would I, a millennial, who has had a mobile phone since I was ten years old as have all of my peers need to organise days in advance when it can be done with a simple text. 

There is a strive to have a better phone than your neighbour, better is more expensive, more features, to the point where i had a Blackberry at 13 and didn't know why there was a Microsoft App. Because these phones weren't originally designed as toys but we made them into toys, by playing with them and making ourselves into a market. My parents also told me of a time of working in an office with no computers. 

My Mum worked in a benefits office in a time when 10% of the country was unemployed and they got their first combat er while she worked there, it was operated by a professional, and information from my mums nation would pass through 4 people before being entered on the computer. The computer helped this industry out massively in keeping documents and records of people so as to stop fraud. But because of the lack of computers and people trained to use them there was a higher margin of error in the fact it had to go through 4 people.

Technology has shot up in the last 32 years and i struggle to imagine what my phone will do in 2050. Both of my parents never thought there would be Apps with facial recognition and GPS tracking for fun.        

‘Remakes are a waste of time’

I hear this a lot in regards to films coming out, and it is an interesting topic with os many films being released as remakes/reboots/sequels. For example the new star wars trilogy is being introduced as a sequel. But many are calling it a remake, with fair points that it follows the same plot as the original trilogy. 

But what people forget is that star wars has one of the biggest followings ever in the history of film, and I think now there is a large amount of people who love star wars and everything from the universe, the people who buy every comic book and graphic novel, every cartoon. Die hard fans, But now Disney realise there is still a market for Star Wars and that in making a feature film and marketing it perfectly with trailers and adverts and toys. This will create a huge profit. 

There are a large amount of people who see these films as sacred and they should be left alone in the same way that art should because it could “ruin” the film. For example there is a remake of Jumanji coming out this year which some people are really upset about.

Personally I don't think it does ruin films. In my opinion if you think remakes ruin films then don't watch the remakes. I feel that scholars and experts have proven that there are only 7 stories to tell, so isn't every story is a remake of other films, but with different names. So remaking a film just stops the idea of pretending to not copy a film, and it can pay homage to the original film and keep it in our hearts and minds.
