Plot: Baela needs some stress relieving before the battle, and who's best than her sweet older sister?
Cw: lovesick!Baela Targaryen x reader, top!Baela x sub!reader, could be Blackfyre!reader but this is not really canon so who cares, smut, fingering, grinding, your usual unhinged medieval sexuality, incest, targcest could be read as internalized homophobia but not really, dirty talk, virginity loss, Baela's POV at first, then reader's POV
Notes: This is not really canon, or important in the Dragon Jaws/Blackfyre series, it's just a little treat
Baela and Y/N were in a tent after a session with the generals of the black army, they discussed the strategy for combat tomorrow. It was late, probably later than it was prudent, after all, no warrior with half a brain would go into war without proper rest; but it was not easy to fall asleep with so much in mind.
The sisters shared a tent, both as a security measure, and one of emotional need. They had spent their whole lives together, missing each other terribly when apart. They would exchange letters and travel on dragonback into the arms of one another, though the tent was missing Rhaena, their other sister, they accepted this gracefully, as it was to keep her safe.
They slept on a big bed (as much as it could be called a bed), usually ending up tangled in the other's embrace. For Baela, it was hard. She was in love with her sister, she desired her. It had evolved throughout the years, but she was sure she loved her sisters from the moment she was able to love. During puberty this feeling grew, it enveloped her, and now, as an adult, it was irresistible. For one, she was grateful she was born a woman, she could shower and dress with her without any shame, stare at her bosom, her perky nipples, her hips, her back, so soft and ready to be marked. She remembered this time during her younger years, where with the excuse of curiosity, she asked her older sister about her developing body, Baela standing naked before her, with her only in her undergarments, both getting ready for bed after swimming on the sea.
"I just can't know if they will get like yours, can you look at me?" She timidly asked. Y/N just caressed her curly hair, and said "It's normal, they look normal. They just might be small, that's lovely too" she said, innocent to the hormone-filled train of thought Baela was conjuring. Y/N topped it off with words that would be repeated over and over in Baela's head for years to come: "You can't tell anyone this, but you and Rhaena are the most beautiful Targaryens to have ever lived" they laughed and Baela felt butterflies erupt in response to her gentleness.
And now, Baela can't sleep thinking about that, she wants her, if not now, when? When will they ever find a better place and time to have each other? Probably many more, Baela thinks, however, what matters is that after years of simmering, her lust has come to a boil.
"Y/N" she calls
"Ahem?" She responds, sleep filled voice
"Have you thought about the end of the war?" She asks, snuggling her body close to hers, Baela is hugging her from behind, the bed feels warm
"I guess we all have"
"I'm fighting like a man" Baela stated "But once the war ends, I won't have the power of a man"
"I think we all want the power of a lord. Lord Baelon, how does that sound? I think it has a nice ring to it" said the oldest "How about me? How would my name sound as a lord?"
"Hmm... I'd like you to remain a lady" Y/N made a curious noise at Baela's words, and then noticed her hand going lower, from the side of her chest, to her waist. "That way... You would be lord Baelon's wife, keep the blood of the dragon pure" her hand hands reached for the buttons in her nightgown. "I would share you with Rhaena" she stopped to think of a fitting name for her sister "Lord Rhaegar, that would be nice... But she can be a lady too, what matters is that I'll have both of you"
Y/N aids Baela with the unbuttoning of her blouse, guiding her hand to her bare skin "I'm not liking it too much, you are cocky, I would like to marry a gentle lord" she says that, but she's undressing for Baela. "Remain a lady, for me, sister, I do not need more"
"I do" Baela says, flipping you on your back, looking deeply into your eyes from above, her hair tickles your shoulders as they fall like a cascade
She closes the distance and kisses you like a starved animal, like a dragon. She's fire, so are you. You devour each other, you grab her curls to trap her, she moans when she feels your nails massage her scalp. You break the kiss to gasp for air, Bae looks dizzy and lovestruck, all of her bold attitude is now gone.
Her hands touch your sides softly, and you nod so she can go ahead. Her palms are soft, but there's an undeniable roughness thanks to the dragon reins she holds onto.
Baela kisses your neck, by this point, your torso is bare, you get goosebumps from the cold air around you. She kisses all the way down to your navel, your underpants are tied with baby blue ribbons, and Baela softly tugs them down.
"It's not enough" she whispers in your ear as she exposes your cunt
You softly sigh as her slender fingers play with your folds, gathering the slick and rubbing your clit with it. She keeps kissing you, and teasing your hole with her finger, not quite fucking you with it. You enjoy it until you don't, and start shamelessly grinding against her, you get a little louder, whining "Lady Baela" and biting your lip in hopes of seducing her. She can't resist, and slowly inserts only her ring finger, slowly pumping in and out of you.
Soon the pace quickens, but you both agree is not enough, and Baela is shivering with the desire to be touched too. Mid-making out, she asks you to sit up.
"I have an idea, just-" she undresses too, with your eager help she lays down, resting her head on the pillow, now naked. She motions you to sit on top of her. You slowly lower yourself with Baela guiding your hips to where she wants them to be, both of you giggle with the tender awkwardness of both your cluelessness.
Your pulsing cunt comes to grind on top of her, you experimentally move, and are rewarded with a a breathy moan from Baela. You build your pace, wiggling your hips and riding her pussy, you start slow, feeling her clit and folds rub with yours, at first it's too intense, and your eyes get wet with tears from pleasure. But then it's not enough, and you ride her like it's the last thing you'll do, it gets difficult to hide your moans, but you think anyone would know what's happening, based on the wet clapping sounds of skin of skin.
It gets slippery with slick, and your hips get tired, but Baela's voice demanding more is just too intoxicating. You come and collapse on top of her, but she's still rolling her hips and sucking on your neck, you plead for mercy, but she's as ruthless in bed as in the battlefield, so after you momentarily stop, she bites you. "Did I say you could stop?" You are in fact tired, but just listening to her commands has you clenching, so your lower body gets a mind of its own and keeps moving to satisfy your sister. You know that you would probably see the sun arise before Baela had her fill of you.
...
"Y/N" she calls, this time she doesn't wait for an answer, as she knows you're awake "You will not marry anyone, you'll wait for me"
You get a little sad, you know that you can never marry Baela, and don't know exactly what she means "Yet you will marry Jace" you say, maybe a little too hurt
"I will" Baela makes you look at her in the eyes, as she promises you this "But I will make him take you as a wife too, you will not marry until that happens" she's tender, but you are aware she's being dead serious. Jacaerys taking a second wife? A bastard one at that? It sounds too fantastic, and you would like to live in that fantasy, but your mind will not let you.
"Trust me, Y/N."
"I don't think many would accept it"
"Then I suppose Moondancer will have grow fat from too many nobles"

I can't remember but didn't Rhaenyra claim Syrax when she was 7 or 8? Wasn't Syrax already fairly big by that time? So wouldn't that mean that she also claimed a dragon? Why is/was everyone saying that Alicent's kids aren't real Targaryen's when the majority of Targaryen's that we know of that had dragons ended up claiming dragons.
Aegon the conqueror claimed Balerion and Vhagar and meraxes we're born on dragon stone years before Visenya and Rhaenys were born most likely. I only say this because both dragons were already considered adults by the time of the conquest and were large already. Meraxes was said to be near the size of Balerion who had years ahead of of both of them near decades probably so that means they too had to have been claimed. Aenys bonded with quicksilver but it didn't say the egg was put in the cradle because that was started by Queen Rhaena Targaryen. Maegor himself claimed Balerion after Argon's death. Queen Rhaena started becoming more outgoing and confident after she bonded with Dreamfyre, although I can't remember if Dreamfyre was put in her cradle?
Aerea daughter of Rhaena claimed Balerion. Baelon son of Jaeharys and Alysanne claimed Vhagar. Alyssa daughter of Jaeharys claimed Meleys. Saera another daughter attempted to claim a dragon. Daemon and Rhaenys claimed Caraxes and Meleys after the former's deaths. Laena Velaryon daughter of Rhaenys also claimed Vhagar.
Viserys' kids with Alicent Hightower all claimed their respective dragons, save for Daeron, I believe but I haven't really gotten to that part so I might be wrong.
Rhaena daughter of Daemon might claim sheepstealer in the show, I don't know we didn't really to see how that will go. But in the books she waits years until morning hatches.
Basically only team Blacks kids, Jace, Luke, Joffrey, Aegon III and Viserys II, Baela and Rhaena were given cradle eggs. Jaeharys and Alysanne we're given eggs.
The ones I am uncertain of that I will have to reread on because I can't remember if it says anything about it is Aemon and laenor I'm fairly certain that Aemon was given an egg which in turn was Caraxes but again I'm not too sure I'll have to go back and reread it. Laenor I don't know I think he claimed seasmoke but I also think maybe he was given an egg.
So basically half of the dragon riders in house Targaryen claimed their dragons, so why do people say that Aemond, Aegon, Helaena and Daeron aren't real Targaryen's when their eggs didn't hatch when the majority of them claimed dragons. Wouldn't that mean that, Daemon, Rhaenys or even the conquerors themselves aren't "real" Targaryens. Like it doesn't make sense.
Also don't get me wrong I'M NOT TEAM GREEN but I'm also one to point something out when it genuinely sounds ridiculous to say.

I've been thinking about the driftmark episode again, there is so much debate and argument over who was at fault and who the 'bad guys' where in both the fight between the children and in the following chaos in the hall after, here's how I see it.
When it comes to the fight between the children there is a lot of discourse, on one hand you have people arguing that well Aemond was the victim because it was four against one, Rhaena struck the first blow and because in the end he lost an eye which was a permanent and traumatic injury. One the other side you have people argue that actually Jace, Luke, Rhaena and Baela were the victims because Aemond stole their mother's dragon at her funeral, he threatened to kill them both verbally and then literally when he tried to bash Jace's head in with a rock and that Luke was only acting out of self defence. The thing is, every one of these statements is true. I don't think this fight was ever supposed to be about which child was in the right and which was in the wrong, it was a fight between children that got out of hand. It was a storm of events that lead to Aemond tragically losing his eye.
Aemond claimed Vhagar, Laena's dragon at her own funeral, there is no denying that this was a disrespectful and shitty thing to do. I am also not sure what the legalities around it were. I've seen some say that dragon's are a free for all once their previous rider is dead but I still think it is considered disrespectful to do it, especially without the family's permission/ blessing. It reminds me of when Daemon stole the egg that was meant for Baelon. Both Viserys and Rhaenyra were very upset by the action and this was six months after Baelon died, it was disrespectful even though the egg was obviously no longer going to be used by Baelon who was gone, its why Daemon took that specific egg because he knew it would anger his brother enough to get his attention. And this was just an egg so I can see why Laena's daughter's would be so upset when a living, breathing dragon that had belonged to their mother was claimed by someone else so soon after her death. It's also worth noting that when Rhaena says Vhagar was hers to claim, Aemond doesn't deny that, he doesn't say well anyone can claim a dragon or you don't have an exclusive right to Vhagar, he says that she should have claimed her then. Which to me suggests that maybe there is some custom where family members have a right to first claim so to speak. Anyway I feel like I've gone on a tangent here but it was wrong and very insensitive of Aemond to claim Vhagar the way he did.
Then that leads to the situation where the girls, who are now upset about Vhagar and their mother's death, confront Aemond, who is very likely on a high after claiming and riding Vhagar, and he responds very coldly, callously telling them their mother is dead and saying they should get Rhaena a pig to ride, which in turn angers Rhaena and so she throws the first hit in anger. There is one thing I do want to address though about this moment. I see a lot of people talk about how Aemond was desperate for a dragon, he was mocked for not having one and had self worth issues and felt left out because he didn't have a dragon when his sibling and cousin's did. But you know who else had self worth issues and felt left out because they didn't have a dragon? Rhaena. It does confuse me how everyone will try and justify Aemond claiming Vhagar because of his want to have a dragon and his issues around not having one and will villainise Rhaena for throwing the first punch, but will look over the fact that Rhaena herself has the same issues around not having a dragon. It was obvious that she herself was planning on claiming Vhagar, just stop and think for a moment what that would've meant to Rhaena, not only would she have gained a dragon but it would have been a way for her to honour her mother's memory, to be the rider of the largest and oldest dragon in the world, just like her mother. Only all her dreams are crushed because on the eve of her mother's funeral someone else claims Vhagar before she gets the chance. I understand Aemond's motives behind claiming Vhagar, but I also understand why Rhaena (and Baela) were so angry and hurt by Aemond's actions, especially when his response to their confrontation was to further antagonise them.
When it comes to the other kids, Baela, Jace and Luke, they all only attack Aemond in defence of each other. Baela hits Aemond in defence of Rhaena when Aemond throws her aside, Jace hits Aemond when he hits Baela and then Luke jumps in after Aemond hits Jace. I'm not saying that their actions were right, just to be clear, but they are understandable, of course you are going to jump in and retaliate when you see your younger sibling or your cousin get hurt.
Talking about the whole four on one thing though, I do have some thoughts on this too. One is that I do think this is kind of a mirror for team black vs team green. What I mean by that is, in my opinion team black are much more united than team green who seem to have a distance between them, I might make a more in depth post about the contrast between the two sides at some point. But that's not to say that team black don't have issues and disagreements or that team green don't have love for each other, more that the way they are presented, team green seem much more at odds with each other. Aemond in this moment is standing alone, he doesn't have any one at his side helping to protect him like the other four do. He's alone because he snuck out to claim a dragon in an attempt to prove himself after being bullied for not having one, a bullying that was instigated by his older brother. On the opposite side of this you have Jace, Luke, Baela and Rhaena who all banded together to go look for the dragon thief, they are one unit and they are all looking out for and fighting for each other. The stark contrast between the two sides actually does make me have alot of sympathy for Aemond.
However another thing to point out is that despite it being four on one it is very clear that it is an uneven match in Aemond's favour. He is able to overpower all of them relatively easy and quickly gets the upper hand over them so that they are the ones in a position of danger. I mentioned this in another post but what I did find a bit disturbing on a rewatch is that when Aemond is standing over Jace with the rock, ready to smack him with it, he has this smirk on his face and is clearly enjoying the fear he is instilling in the others, he is enjoying the violence of it all. I also said that I mostly blame Cole for this behaviour along with Aegon's enjoyment for watching children fight. I really do believe that Cole fed this enjoyment for violence to them through his training sessions.
Luke slashing out at Aemond and taking his eye was very clearly self defence, or rather an attempt to stop Aemond from killing Jace. I have seen some argue that well the rock wouldn't have killed Jace, which again really confuses me because an episode earlier Daemon used a rock to kill Rhea, so obviously, yes a rock would kill a person, and yes Jace was in very real danger. Also whether the rock would actually have killed Jace or not (it would have) the important thing is that Luke and the others believed Aemond was going to kill Jace, and we know they truly believed Jace's life was in danger because when they were all yelling at each other trying to explain what happened you can hear one of them shout 'he tried to kill jace.'
As I said above what this fight ultimately was about was the consequences of the adults fuelling this feud between the children, how their own rivalry was trickling down into their children who were too young to fully understand what the conflict was truly about. The adults are the real culprits here. Not only for not watching the children closely enough but for creating such a toxic environment around them. The important thing to me is that Luke did not act out of true maliciousness or hate, he acted out of defence for his brother when he feared for his brother's life. I also don't think that it was Luke's intention to maim Aemond, again he was a very young boy who just wanted to protect his brother. I've seen so many people say, well Luke didn't even apologise for maiming Aemond and yeah he didn't, but I don't recall Aemond ever apologising to Rhaena and Baela for claiming their mother's dragon at her funeral, or to Jace and Luke for attempting to you know murder them with a rock, either. Unfortunately this fight could have been avoided if the adults in these kid's lives one, hadn't encouraged the feud between the children in the first place and two had actually been keeping a closer eye on them, the result is that Aemond has to live with this injury for the rest of his life and it only made tensions between the children even worse.
But now let's talk about the aftermath in the hall. Honestly, whilst I am not Alicent's biggest fan, I did understand her frustration and anger in this moment. Like I cannot imagine what it must be like for a mother to learn that her son has gotten into a fight with his nephews and has now lost an eye, for her to see her son in pain and that stitching across his eye, she had my sympathy and I can understand why she lost it. That being said, her demanding Luke's eye in return was insane, that was made clear by the way the entire room gasped when she suggested it.
I also understand why Alicent felt frustrated that Luke wasn't punished for it, though to be clear I agree that Luke shouldn't be punished for what was essentially an accident. But also there is a very good reason why Viserys didn't punish Luke besides that it was an accident. I feel like Viserys gets alot of stick from the fandom for not acting in this instance but I also think the reason why he doesn't act is overlooked. If Viserys punishes Luke then he also has to punish a whole lot of other people too. He'd have to punish all of the children for striking each other, Rhaena, Baela, Luke and Jace all struck a royal prince, but so too did Aemond, Jace is heir to the throne so it was against the law for Aemond to strike him and it was definitely against the law for him to attempt to strike him across the head with a rock. So that's all four children that would need to be punished to varying degrees. On top of that, Jace and Rhaenyra announce to the hall that Aemond called Jace and Luke bastards, which truth or no, Rhaenyra is right, to make an accusation like that could be considered treason. It is obvious again from the reaction of those in the hall, including Alicent's own, how bad this is. Aemond then throws Aegon under the bus to protect his mother so that means Viserys would also have to punish both Aegon and Aemond for at best spreading slander and at worst literal treason. So punishing Luke like Alicent wants could lead to Rhaenyra demanding that Aegon and Aemond also be punished for spreading the rumors about her sons, and Viserys wouldn't be able to punish one without the other because that would just cause more discord and anger. After Alicent then decides to take matters into her own hands and try to take Luke's eye herself, well we're just adding to the crimes to be punished, because now Alicent has disobeyed a direct order from the King, stolen a weapon, tried to maim the grandchild of the king and in doing so proceeded to injure the heir to the throne. Like maybe its just me, but surely people can see how impossible this situation is. Asking Viserys to act is asking him to severely punish two of his grandsons, two of his nieces, two of his sons and his wife. Not to mention that punishing Luke, Jace, Rhaena and Baela would likely anger Corlys and Rhaenys which we've already been there, done that, and realised the consequences suck. Punishing his own sons would likely anger the Hightowers, again not a good idea. So lets all be honest with ourselves here, Viserys response of would you all just stop fighting and make good will with each other was the best option for everyone involved, it was the only option really.
Like I said above I really and genuinely do feel for Alicent in this moment, for Aemond, for Jace, Luke, Rhaena and Baela, for Rhaenyra who people seem to forget also was fearful for her children, and also for Viserys who was having to deal with all this family drama where there really wasn't any reasonable solution other than commanding them to all get along. Basically this situation sucked for everyone that was involved.

Since Jaehaerys wasn't killed in chained beneath the waves, I was thinking about another reason Aegon would be angry and sad and crying and breaking his father's Lego set sculptures. What if, with the war, Baela and Jacaerys married early, worrying with the family now fighting. This was Aegons reaction to hearing about their wedding on Dragonstone the week after he was crowned, and as him and Helaena loved Baela he goes into a fit, now that she's truly Jaces wife now, the whispers he hears also have said that she takes after her grandmother Alyssa and teases the same sentence her grandmother taunted her grandfather Baelon about, about mounting him and riding him all night on the wedding night, planning to do the same the following night. She loves to ride... hearing of them actually marrying was enough, but hearing of her brazenly saying that, enough that whispers of her baudiness make it to him? Oh, he's in a fit. And Helaena is so sad :(
(For now, poor babies. They don't know that within a year they will be offered to be married to both. Not even sweet Helly seeing it in her dreams.)
!!!!!
Aegon was hot as fuck destroying that lego set thats for sure. Poor sweet love really is out of his mind..thankfully those moments of his rage do not make it back to Dragonstone.
Sweet Helaena is a blessing and allows him this rage; her desire only growing as she looks him up and down

HotD Season 2 Episode 2 Live Watch Thoughts
Seriously, I absolutely adore this new opening style. I really hope that they continue with this for the coming seasons (and in the other shows). The tapestry stuff is so pretty! Like I’m actually willing to watch through it. I usually just skip intros after watching them the first time.
Ugh. The bloody sheet. 😭
And now there are a ton of people 🫥 where were they before?
And Cole got dressed fast.
AND DESTROY THAT STUPID LEGO SET AEGON!
DECLARE WAR
ooooooo is Aemond going to find out that he was the one targeted? Are we not even going to get a proper reaction to him being told that his nephew is dead?
Man Otto looks shaken.
Take all of Alicent’s pain and give it to Daemon.
CALL HIM BY HIS NAME!
“But what they’ve done to my girl” 😭😭😭😭😭
I hate that Alicent is always made to feel as though she is at fault for everything but NONE of the other characters seem to feel the same sort of guilt, worthily had or otherwise?
Oooooooof yelling at Criston!
“The sanctity of my family!” 😭
“The Bitch Queen of Bastards” is a killer title though.
“You wished her life to be spared!” I’M—
THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE HIM TALE JAEHAERYS’ HEAD!!!??? 😭
Who else would it be random dude I have yet to know the name of (Jasper)? Who else? Sure someone who wants to start conflict.
Why are Rhaenys’ actions not viewed negatively? She killed hundreds of people.
“I will not have my little son’s body dragged through the street like a dead dog” WHERE ARE THE EMMYS?!?!
TOM MY LOVE YOU DESERVE THE WORLD FOR YOUR ACTING
AEGON LOOKING TO HIS MOM!
“My darling” 😭😭😭😭😭😭🤣🤣
HELAENA!!!!!
“I don’t want them closer. I don’t know them.” MY BABY
“This is for my boy” 😭
Why would you still use the goldcloaks? Especially since we don’t have Alicent’s brother leading them yet?
THE HEAD SHAKING MORE THAN THE BODY!!!!!!!
YOU CHILD MURDERER DO NOT GET TO ACT SO SORRY AND LIP TREMBLING!!!!!
THE SEWN HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH MY GOSH THIS IS LIKE ROBB ALL OVER AGAIN!
“Are you going to hurt me?” YOU MURDERED A CHILD!
The petals like ashes 😭
My poor child who does not want to be touched 😭
GIVE THE CHILD SOME DIGNITY IN HIS FUNERAL!
GIRL YOU PUBLICLY ASKED FOR YOUR RECENTLY WOUNDED BROTHER TO BE SHARPLY QUESTIONED!
DAEMON YOU ARE A MONSTER!
Girl, you have shown no interest in your sister until it now suits you.
Rhaenys is catching on.
You are not even talking about how that CHILD is your nephew.
Whichever twin do you wonder if things would have been different had you stayed?
Good Rhaenyra seems to have caught on too.
Good. Don’t believe him Rhaenyra. He destroys so much of your good PR. People think he killed his first wife and murdered your first husband! People are going to assume bad things!
GIRL.
Good call him out. But why did you not notice all these things when PEOPLE POINTED THIS OUT TO YOU.
Do not like Rhaenyra, but get the HECK AWAY FROM HER DAEMON
OOOOOO still calling it his brother’s throne instead of Rhaenyra’s!!!!
Emma out here with their acting!
Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra mention your brother! Mention Baelon!
Ooooo Daemon calling out why part of Viserys named her heir.
Emma is so gorgeous. I am distracted.
“It was a mistake” this entire war is based on mistakes and misunderstandings apparently.
Yay! Baela talked!
Ooooo! Baela and Rhaenyra will actually have a conversation!
So Baela is going to watch King’s Landing?
Is it just me or does Baela’s dress sort of remind you guys of the ribbing of Sansa’s coronation dress? That ribbing embroidery thing? At first I thought it might be meant to mirror Rhaenyra’s dress, but it looks more like Sansa’s coronation dress.
Oh good. Helaena has ladies.
AEGON AND HELAENA! My babies are hurt!
Do you think this is the same nursery Criston watched the Green kids grow up in?
Rhaenyra sort of staring at her kids.
I wish we saw them interacting more with the babies.
My guilt ridden babies. They are Guinevere and Lancelot coded and it hurts.
But honestly, I wish this episode had been their first sex scene and the implied first time they have ever had sex. But you know. Game of Thrones. HBO. They have to make one woman be the sex-ed character. Who cares about writing?
all the guys getting up and leaving is SOOOOO funny. It’s giving “calling my significant other’s full name in front of his family”
Acting is giving this episode. I will give them that.
I like that while the Green twin does not like being question, you can tell he is not fully angry because he knows that everyone is angry about this.
Is Criston the one to send the Green twin to kill Rhaenyra in the book? I know the twins fight, but is this how it is initiated?
I wish we actually saw more of the twins before episode 9 so we could care a little more that the twins die. Both of them die don’t they?
Ooo Baela and Jace are going to talk?
“Too many empty seats” maybe because a child was murdered?
You hate your dad Baela? Would have loved some characterization last season.
You definitely have Dad issues Jace.
Wish we saw Laenor be a dad. Like actual parenting. Time skips really robbed us of growing to like characters.
You’re asking about Harwin?
Are you flirting while talking somewhat casually about Jace’s bastardry?
They really did find an actress that kind of looks like Phia for whatever this prostitute is going to be used for.
Also, if this is in King’s Landing, that prostitute might have been one of the women Daemon would have went after.
Good lord. No. Really. Aemond deserves more.
Ewan is also skinny. I can see that boy’s ribs!
“When prince’s lose their temper it is others that suffer” is a great line wasted on a character who seemingly preyed on a child.
Oh, Hugh has a kid? Is that canon to the books? OH! That was one of the women at the funeral crying over Jaehaerys.
“Did he say when?” Probably better to ask if he promised before HIS SON WAS MURDERED!
Addam! I wish he had white hair so I could use him as a faceclaim. But I get it. Who wants an ugly wig distracting from the beautiful face?
Interesting. Are Alyn and Addam going to serve as an older version of Jace and Luke?
Post sex Corlys and Rhaenys?
“Let us take him at his word.” Why? What has he done to inspire so much confidence when he already is the reason for the murder of a CHILD
Why is Mysaria granted the title of Lady?
“I had nothing to do with it” you are connected.
Does Rhaenyra not remember Mysaria? They met in episode 2 last season? I think she was even named in his letter as his “wife” and future mother of a bastard?
Oh good. Now she remembers.
Is that the actress’ actual accent?
“I have no interest…” Mysaria, again, why would she trust you?
Mysaria’s character is so confusing. I think it’s partially because she doesn’t have any sort of characterization.
Mysaria, are you not still a whore? You are just a madam now?
How did you get that scar?
Again, the spaces inbetween episodes are so important. And I don’t watch the after the episode stuff because if it’s not in the episode then I won’t use it to cloud my judgement of what is going on.
Is Alyn going to claim Seasmoke? So is Laenor just going to be dead? Or are they going to make it so dragons can claim more than one person? Or is Laenor alive and to keep up the facade is just going to pretend to be Alyn?
“What did they do?” At least inform the people why the boys are hung.
Poor dog lost his child murdering master.
“Oh~ I had them hanged.” I’m sorry that choice is 🤣
No, but why would you not state that the rat catchers are some how connected to the murder of a prince?
That gaze shift from Criston was a “don’t drag me into this” look
If people get annoyed with Criston calling Rhaenyra a bitch then they need to go after Daemon with the same amount of energy. He has said it WAY more.
“You never think of your father” HE BARELY KNEW HIS FATHER BECAUSE HIS FATHER DID NOT CARE TO KNOW HIM
Viserys is the reason the realm has gotten to this point Otto.
“He was right about you.” Viserys had no thought about his son at all to have an opinion.
Would have loved to see more of a relationship between Otto and his grandchildren so all of this could feel more weighted.
And Criston does not want this. 😬
“You will regret this” Otto you need to figure out how to talk to people. You are smarter than this.
Why would you trust someone Daemon trusted?
Oh? Mysaria is going to be sent away? Okay. The point then?
Oh, is she going to notice the Green twin? Is that her only purpose then? Girl? You are about to be free! Why do you care? (Jk. I know it’s for plot)
Again. I wish I knew these brothers and Mysaria more so I can feel the weight of their actions. Mysaria’s need for freedom being thrown away or make it obvious that she is trying to curry favor. Something.
And Emma’s color is blue.
The man also doesn’t know his way around Dragonstone. It’s a stupid plan.
Why is this scene building more tension than Blood and Cheese by flipping between the Green twin and Rhaenyra? Like???? This is how B&C should have been set up?
Also, if you knew someone had a twin on the other side, why would you not do something to distinguish them?
WHY IS THIS SCENE GETTING MORE TENSION?!?!?!?
Jk, again, I know why, it’s for the sake of making the Blacks ALWAYS looking better and deserving more sympathy.
Again, I would care more about these twins if I knew them
Once more. This tension would have been better served for B&C.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CANNOT STAY THERE OTTO?!?!?!?
DAERON MENTION!?!?!?!? He exists?
“The young are peacocks” does that not also describe Viserys too?
“I have sinned.” “I do not wish to hear of it.” The only actual father-daughter relationship that has any sort of solid development.
Loved the close up on Aegon’s short finger nails and Viserys’ ring.
AND ALICENT TALK TO YOUR SON. Ugh. But no. Let’s just have Alicent be used for the necessary sex scenes needed in a GoT/HBO show instead of having more character plot with her children.
I do think this would have been a better introduction to them having sex.
This was a meh episode.
Thoughts on the promo for Episode 3:
So Jace won’t be the one to suggest the dragonseed?
Also, where was Rhaena? I thought she was in the promo for episode 2?

Helaena & Aegon's Relationship -- A Book Reader Explaining How They Got Some Truths or Conclusions Out of an Unreliable Narrator/Account
Also can be found on Twitter HERE.
*HEADCANON*
Tumblr media
Art Credit by fkaluis
There's really no reason to think that F&B is unreliably telling/twisting this moment, as this part is told through Munkun/Orwyle, Orwyle who was there to witness Alicent putting out this search party for Aegon to get him quickly crowned.
QUOTE of Helaena about Aegon's Whereabouts (in case pic below is illegible, not sure about pic quality)
Tumblr media
Yes, Orwyle was writing to paint himself as non-complicit/innocuous as possible to avoid execution during his imprisonment.
Yes, Helaena is reported to be a "pleasant", seemingly non-confrontational person.
Yes, there is the possibility that he wasn't in the room when Helaena answered the searchers.
However, again, what we know of Aegon, his raping, his philandering, the fact he wasn't present and in the room with Helaena and had to be looked for maybe a few hours before being found and then found with a 12-year-old (he was in his early 20s), speaks volumes about their relationship alone. We do not hear anything that shows Aegon was even involved in his kids' development or nurturing or hung out with them, just because.
Meanwhile we absolutely, at least, know that Viserys kept Rhaenyra close to him at the feast while Aemma was alive, & even more so after he named her heir. (Viserys has got his own parenting issues even with Rhaenyra, but he was definitely loving towards Aemma & Rhaenyra and was present. Rhaenyra would have remembered him as putting in that parental effort).
We absolutely know that Baela and Rhaena, Aegon III and Viserys II & all the Velaryon boys were close with, trusted, or worshipped Daemon by:
Jace trusting him with Dragonstone and the Seeds
no would-have-been-used-against-Daemon rumor; not even rumors of contention between any of them (same guy -Daemon- that people feared? Plz they'd be talking)
Baela being described as the female version of Daemon, or her going through mourning him by being "wild" as Aegon's council saw it
Rhaena herself having Daemon's fire (fear of reaction to her 1st husband's death, love for attention, etc)
Aegon III likely naming his daughter after him & Daena naming her son (the Blackfyre) after her grandfather Daemon (indicates Aegon expressed his love for Daemon to her)
And there is absolutely no indication that Aegon II's relationship with Helaena mirrored anything like Jaehaerys x Alysanne/Daemon x Rhaenyra/Alyssa x Baelon/Aemon x Jocelyn/Rhaenys x Corlys. The Targ/Valyrian couples have the most romantic stories of the ASoIaF universe (as told by narrative).
Even in the more contentious couples' (of my list) earliest, most romantic years. Not a one. No reports of longing glances, hushed conversations ignoring the rest of the room as if they were in a bubble, screams of pleasure, tender arm holding, flying their dragons together, no famous words of affection or appreciation of the other's attributes. Nothing.
And Helaena being a "pleasant" person does not negate the ability to establish boundaries, fight back when alarmed/annoyed/feeling intruded on, or had some Targaryen pride herself. Or have some self-possession.
So really, we absolutely can & should take as fact, that Helaena said what I quoted about Aegon not being in her bed.
QUOTE of Helaena before Jaehaerys' Death
Tumblr media
Aegon & Helaena, despite some people's insistence, were never close & were never in love & were never a true couple. And Aegon was never a good father, nor a good husband or person all on his own merit.
Anyway, back to the prime point: we as readers have managed to understand characters, their motivations, relationships, etc even though the entire account of the Dance and before the Dance/war IS made up of many sources w/agendas 7 biases before we look at "So Spake Martin"/"The Citadel 'ASoIaF' Archive"--or anything like those--websites.
But of course, some people already know & acknowledge some FACTS about these characters from these sources, but will thump their way into ad-hominems and divergent tangents just to avoid it & affirm themselves.

My ramble about hotd season2. - episode three - spoiler
Yes, I could only watch the episode in the afternoon, I had a lot to do and tried to avoid the whole internet. First of all as in every little ramble thing wonderful shots, the actors did a wonderful phenomenal job and the sets/culises are just incredible also the cgi for the dragons cheff kiss.
So first of all Helaena my sweet Helaena your family does not deserve you and your beautiful room the desgin is just beautiful. But Alicent I understand that it's hard to fight off the conflict between your kids, Crispi Cole wanting your handkerchief and not just kissing your ex in the septa but please you could have just talked to Rhaenyra normally and not "it wasn't a mistake". Plus I miss Otto as a Hand as much as I liked Crispi (in terms of him saving Gwayne and being more skilled at it than Alicent's brother) I need a capable Lord Hand and not Crispi peeking after Alicent in a very simp manner. Also Gwayne I was really excited to see how he would come across and I have to say I don't like him as much as I thought I would. I thought he would be a bit like his father but rather a pillar of support for his sister but I don't know he's too calm (reminds me of Renly or Loras) until he sees my queen Baela and Moondancer and first realizes, "Oh shoot those are dragons". Aegon who I thought was going to fly off by now changes his mind about Larys (who once again continues to spin his spider webs quite well actually) and then pulls the whole brothel thing I was disappointed I thought he would have at least learned something.
But yes the brothel scene Aemond you didn't deserve the family, you paid for a few quiet hours with the woman dei dier comfort asks just to put his armor back on so it doesn't have to be that way I'm all so sorry for you…but you always look good don't worry. ps : The young squire who was just dragged along frees my boy from drunken Aegon. The non binary Bracken and our psycho Bloody Ben were just slaying in the first few minutes I thought wow new shipping but then the fight was really sweet I must say. Oh and Daemon in Harrenhal Alys my sweet I really love you but let the man sleep in that moth hole for a bit and give him a nice dream although he probably needed the realization.
Yes yes Rhaena your grandma is sticking up for you (Rhaenys and Corlys best couple I stick with them they are so sweet and Corlys listen to your wife damn it). Rhaena is so sweet but I think she will do anything to protect her "brothers" and honor her house and protect the dragons.
That one pisser the bastard of Baelon didn't you see I don't get the name Ulf I'm not sure anymore I knew he was a two faced but so quick uff just uff. I was ect surprised that Rhaenyra actually went to önigmsund and that she first thought that her father never wanted her on the throne but then came the realization that she always was and it was a mistake with Aegon. I had hope that Alicet will try to see that too but no I can understand both Rhaenya who now sees no way out but to fight with dragons and Alicent who can't go back to fix this "mistake" on which her son's legacy rests.
Well that was episode three I'm really looking forward to the next one. Oh and shout out to the castellan of Harenhall I like you

If you had the chance to change something about the dance of the dragons (TV show or book), what would it be? For example, how a character dies, which team a house is on,or an entire character personally. How would you change it to make the story better, in your opinion?♥️🖤💙💚
sorry for the late response, but you made my whole day 🖤💚
MAJOR spoilers for future seasons of hotd !!
tbh this is such a hard question because my first instinct is to save my favs and have rhaenyra peacefully ascend the iron throne, but i'll try to be realistic about it😭
i feel like in terms of the story, baelon living would've prevented the dance entirely. rhaenyra has stated before that she would be content with her father having a son and potentially being overshadowed by her brother. ("i hope for my father that he gets a son. as long as I can recall, it's all he's wanted.") baelon would've been named heir at birth, and i suppose rhaenyra would be expecting it and not care as much about being replaced, since this is her mother's son and not her best friend's + she'd be too caught up in her own grief to worry too much about baelon. she'd rightfully be bitter for a while, with her mom dying and now her father completely overlooking her in favor of "the son he's always wanted," but the guilt would catch up to viserys at some point and they'd (hopefully) reconcile.
with the succession secured, viserys wouldn't feel as much urgency to remarry and sire heirs, meaning he could either wait until laena was of age and then marry her to secure an alliance with the velaryon's, or double down on marrying alicent. if he did decide to move forward with marrying alicent, since there'd be no ambiguity surrounding the succession, his sons with alicent would be considered second to baelon, the same way they are presently second to rhaenyra. if baelon survived to adulthood, his father would eventually die of leprosy at 52 and he'd ascend the iron throne as baelon targaryen, first of his name, king of the andals and the rhoynar and the first men, lord of the seven kingdoms and protector of the realm. no dance, no dying of the dragons, no collapse of the targaryen dynasty. the end.
but obviously grrm loves the drama, so if the story plays out exactly how it does in the show, i'd say the one thing i'd change about the dance is jace's death. his death during the battle of the gullet was a HUGE hit to the blacks and they ended up losing one of their most valued commanders, a dragonrider and rhaenyra's eldest son and named heir. afterward, rhaenyra was purely driven by vengeance and was intent on reclaiming king's landing. as a result, people on dragonstone began to resent her for the losses they suffered during the battle and its aftermath.
jace did so much to benefit the blacks, and his actions aided his mother's cause long after his death (the pact of ice and fire, the hour of the wolf, etc) + he'd genuinely be such a good king with baela as his queen :( i know a lot of people think there would be some kind of glorified bastard uprising plot against jace in order to usurp him and force him to answer for the crime of bad hair color, but the aftermath of the dance left the realm in such desperate need of peace that they were willing to accept the ten-year-old son of "maegor with teats" as their new king. if jace had lived to the end, i'm assuming the majority of lords and smallfolk in westeros would be more than willing to forgive the bastard allegations and herald him as a hero and their rightful king. the small council would probably insist that aegon iii would be the better fit, but i'm quite sure when faced with this situation, the realm would prefer to have a seventeen-year-old war hero on the iron throne compared to his extremely traumatized younger half-brother

I SAW THE POST OF DAEMON BEING A GOOD DAD TO BAELON II AND SHARING CUSTODY WITH ALICENT, OTTO, VISERYS AND CRISTON, IT'S BEAUTIFUL.
Imagine that after Laena dies Daemon wants to marry Rhaenyra but totally changes his mind when he sees what Lucerys did to his son, Daemon might come to think that he didn't know Rhaenyra as he thought and that surely he sent his son to hurt to Baelon II for being the new heir to the throne.
IMAGINE HIM STAYING BY HIS SON'S SIDE ALL THOSE YEARS AND RAISING HIM ALONG WITH THE OTHERS.
Viserys would be really happy, Alicent, Otto and Criston still mistrust Daemon and are surly with him.
daemon would absolutely not stand for that. His son, the heir and lord of runestone? maimed by his niece's son? did she think him an idiot? a father who did not care for his children?
He'd understand rhaena and baela's point of view but he'd take in their sobs that they never meant for this to happen, not to their older brother who had always looked out for them.
he'd be incredibly vicious about it, insisting on a punishment, it would be the only time he actually agreed with alicent. he, of course, didn't think an eye was needed but the future king has been maimed, this cannot go unpunished, he'll advise viserys as alicent and otto nod in agreement.
aemond stays right next to baelon ii as he glares at his nephews with all the hatred he could muster as they sew baelon's eye shut to help it heal.
viserys will be unwilling to let it go unpunished despite all his love towards rhaenyra. he banishes her from king's landing for the next seven years for the maiming of baelon ii. it is originally an offense punishable by death, in everyone's eyes, she got off easy. Alicent is sated temporarily by this as she stands by baelon's side.
if rhaenyra expected daemon to take her side, she would be sorely disappointed. Baelon would always have his father's support.

any gay royals? also who’s cassella martell??
Of course we got gays, these are Targaryens after all!! I’m gonna make a list of the ones I can think of for the top of my head but it sure isn’t a limited list by any means!!
Saeron I (106-154) was Visenyas third son and married lady Zahna Dayne after 6 years of betrothal, they weren’t compatible anyways but Saeron also was very much in love with Zahnas cousin Ser Aryon (a knight of his mothers Kingsguard). Saeron fell in love quickly and often but he never really had a long term lover.
King Maegor II (103-157) Visenyas first son wasn’t gay, but he had no desire to bed anyone really so by todays standards he would probably be asexual.
Aerion I (114-166) another son of Visenya also practiced a more open love, he had multiple male lovers among them his close friend the legendary adventurer and sells sword Ser Syn Sand and Ser Jory Greyjoy. He also married a multitude of women (two of his nieces) and was a big fan of polygamy.
Baelon II (134-156), Maekar I (134-157) and Daenera IV (35-157) all children of Maegor II were in a polygamous relationship, with Maekar and Daenera getting married since Baelon joined the Kingsguard (their daughter Aegara I is probably Baelons thou).
Daena I (144-241) another daughter of Maegor was known as ‘the maid of Driftmark’ and famously threatened every suitor that came to ask for her hand with the sword and generally preferred to stay in the company of women exclusively. She and her cousin Daena II were inseparable before the latter died in 171 AC (Yes they had the same fucking name I know) and after her passing Daena I never returned to Dragonstone, instead she spend her live on Driftmark riding her beloved dragon Evening and enjoying live with her lady love Marrisa Velaryon.
Daena II (147-171) the daughter of Aenna was a flaming bisexual that wore exclusively black and favored pants. She married her brother Aelyx and while they were very in love she also had a relationship with her cousin Daena I.
Laena II (132-150) the daughter of Rhaenar and Baela (the Baela from the show/books) was another sapphic granddaughter of Visenya, it was common knowledge that she married her uncle Aerion just to be able to enjoy the romantic freedom he could offer her and that she actually never shared the bed with him. She was romantically involved with the wife of her brother instead, Daella II.
Aenera II (159-185) the granddaughter of Aenna was a raging lesbian to the core. In her maiden days she had often laughed in the faces of the lordlings and knights that had approached her and her ladies. Aenera was known for her beauty and the eldest child of her parents so not marrying wasn’t really an option for her, but her true love laid with her cousin princess Aella III.
Aella III (157-178) was the granddaughter of Saeron and had always stood out among her religiously devoted and very well behaved siblings, she had been a quiet and studious girl but she also didn’t care much for marriage and men, she had rather ride dragons with her cousin Aenera all day.
Queen Rhaella IV (185-264) was a great granddaughter of Aenna, she had a rather scandalous love life, after the death of her second husband she supposedly had a long standing relationship with her sworn shield Ser Steffon Waynwood, in her youth however she was often rumored to have lain with women, among them her close companion Alianda Blackwood.
Naerys III (211-245) was a Great Great granddaughter of Aenna, she was a dragon rider and always kept her blond hair short and enjoyed being mistaken for a boy. She may have been in a romantic relationship with a Velaryon cousin of hers.
King Aeralon I (260-295) was a descendant of Visenya (to many greats to put here trust me) he was a big f-ing problem for everyone around him, especially his wife and kids, because his half brother Lord Torrhen Stark left him (Torrhen was his only relationship ever).
King Maelor II (276-317), Aerys I (278-317) and queen Elaera II (279-317) the children of Aeralon were in a polyamorous relationship. While Maelor and Elaera married, Aerys never did and stayed at court with his siblings all his live. Aerys also wasn’t shy to tell everyone who would listen about how much he loved his king and queen.
Daemion I (595-?) the son of Elaena IV was another Targaryen man in love with his brother the king, he however had no interest in women at all, which worked out fine because he was married to Alanna Velaryon who herself had little interest in men and preferred the company of women.
Jaehaerys III (602-?) another son of Elaena was also into men, he joined the kingsguard as a young man and had a live long relationship with his fellow knight Ser Ormond Allyrion, even though their story started out as a fierce rivalry.
Baelor V (609-?) ?? Another son of Elaena IV, he supposedly fell for his wife Beatriz Corbray while he taught she was a man and evidently enjoyed to … switch up positions during their love making (read as: man liked it up the ass), he also flirted with anyone and anything so I’d say it’s safe to assume he would have counted himself bi by todays standards.
Aella VI (609-?) a daughter of Elaena IV and Baelors twin, she was always prone to gushing over her mother female knight Lady Larissa and other lady knights of history, as a girl she had been a romantic through and through yet no boys ever strung her fancy. Instead she found love with her brothers wife, Amanda Wylde, called ‘wild Amy’ (the brother, Aegon was also probably a little gay so he didn’t really mind). Funnily enough her daughter and Amy’s daughter would also fall in love in the future.
Elaena V (629-?) the granddaughter of Queen Elaena (wild Amy’s daughter) was another bisexual girlie, she always flirted a little to much with knights and young lords, but her first love was with her cousin Jenny Arryn, and while both eventually married and happily at that they would always remain very close.
Sadly I don’t have the generations following Elaena all that figured out yet (I’m to busy making up new fun stories about her crazy kids if I’m being honst) so I might just make another post about the great numbers of sapphics and the occasional gay man that are sure to follow!!! Hope this answers your questions, all though I had love to talk more about any of these and the story of their lives if you had like that!!
If you wanna find out who my fav queen Cassie is, imma put the link here as soon as I post:

hotd episode three thoughts:
episode was titled ‘the burning mill’ for the battle of the burning mill and we only get to see the aftermath. no black aly, no bloody ben, just pain and suffering.
“i can’t fault him for upkeeping his oath.” is such a lame excuse, since he tried to kill her last episode, they could’ve just had her say she wants to honor erryk and his sacrifice by allowing him to have peace with the brother he still loved despite everything.
i went from ‘i still kind of care about you even though i’m not a big fan of the changes’ in regard to rhaenys to full on dislike. good job condal!! “maybe you can talk peace with alicent (she has proven time and time again her demon spawn will not listen to her) 😜 luke taking aemond’s eye started the war (a 7 year old defending his brother 6 years ago caused the war, sure jan) 🤪 im gonna imply you being practical about the war’s inevitably will cause me to stop supporting you 😋 just in a silly goofy mood 😛😛”
i liked mysaria and rhaenyra’s conversation, and appreciate the setting up for addam claiming seasmoke.
gwayne fucking hightower had more speaking lines than jace. glad to see he pissed his pants when confronted with moondancer however.
baela>>> arguably best part of the episode. dany’s theme playing over her and moondancer’s entrance is reaffirming my fancast <3
corlys whining about joffrey only being six and knowing nothing of the sea is honestly hilarious since that’s how most heirs start off as? also not surprised he doesn’t consider rhaena good enough to be his heir when he’s proven time and time again he’ll only support women in power if it benefits him. can’t wait to watch greencels bend over backwards and claim this is rhaenyra’s fault once again !
actually the way rhaena was treated this episode is just major ick vibes. the writers have this obsession with making every non-dragon rider targ a liability to their family? which makes no sense at all, but they couldn’t even include one line of rhaenyra saying she was sending rhaena to the vale for her safety to? i’m glad she told her upfront she was entrusting the future of their house to her (an omen for morning? i’m not holding my breath) but still.
you mean to tell me aemond’s biggest adversary in life wasn’t his toddler nephews??? but instead his big brother??? who has no redeeming qualities and proves he’s willing to hurt him to feed his own ego??? shocked, i tell you. absolutely shocked. ‘true brotherhood’ defenders are going to lose their shit when aemond attempts to kill aegon next episode (apparently twice? for once i’ll be on his side i guess).
the showrunners brought dyana back just to have her serve the man who raped her and be sexually assaulted again, what a feminist take!
had to see a dude get sucked down in the same scene. now i need luke to take my eye(s) out too.
i did NOT need to see aemond’s dingaling what the fuck
baelon’s… bastard… son? the same baelon who was head over heels in love with alyssa? the same baelon who never took another wife nor even looked at another woman after her death? the same baelon who’s sister couldn’t even convince him to take her to wife? vaegon having a bastard would be more believable.
helaena apparently doesn’t give a shit about jaehaerys! more absolute bangers from the writing department. instead of going mad over this loss and deliberately throwing herself out her window she’s going to see a really pretty butterfly that she must have and accidentally tumble over the balcony.
rhaenys praising jaehaerys is so fucked, he’s the reason you’re not queen right now, and he laid the groundwork for the greens to have any claim at all EAT MY ASS
why is alys american.
daemon’s harrenhal arc seems very interesting -so far- it was great to milly’s rhaenyra again (also am i the only one that thought she was holding a baby, jace or a hypothetical ‘what if daemon married her to begin with’ and not sewing up jae’s head) also “you will die in this place” is peak foreshadowing honestly.
alicent continues to pull the ‘i didn’t think the leopards would eat MY face!!!’ “i have perhaps been unkind but never dishonest” copium much??? you deliberately made rhaenyra and her kids lifes a living hell bc she managed to find happiness in her situation and you couldn’t stand that.
that sept scene was dumb as shit but at least rhaenyra has exhausted every single option possible for no war and her antis can shove it and be reminded that she’s the only monarch that gave a shit about the destruction about to happen. ‘team neutral’ team fucking idiot more like.
episode is rated 2/10 for baela, rhaena, jace/joff/aegon/viserys crumbs, and house blackwood mention.

I’m so intrigued by how you will construct Baela and Rhaena’s relationship and conflict. Especially when Baela in the show at least, has been very much characterized to be very loyal to Rhaenyra, her father’s favorite, and very much interested in marrying Jace. I’m really interested in seeing how being Daemon’s essential favorite (she’s the dragon rider who speaks Valyrian) has affected the way she sees her sister. Does she notice the neglect? Does she feel anything towards it? I know you’ve already sort of confirmed that at least so far, the sisters are loyal to each other and sticking together but I’m very interested in that conflict of Rhaena essentially being more neutral, hating/distrusting her father, and oh my gosh when she said she wanted to go sailing with Uncle Vaemond and knowing what’ll happen…. 💔 and it’ll likely only push towards her away from the Blacks cause even more. Gosh I’m so excited!
Be less intrigued!!!
I am 90% sure that what I've written is going to be the opposite of good. It's not going to be fun. Baela's going to be completely ooc for both the book and tv versions I guess.
My biggest problem was just the inconsistency. She's supposed to be like Daemon, pro-fighting, bold, brave, badass, etc... Well, Daemon wouldn't be cool with giving up his inheritance to the strongs if he was in her position. He wasn't even cool with giving up his non-inheritance to Rhaenyra or Baelon, Viserys' actual Targ children and we all know how he feels about Viserys' kids by Alicent. Rhaenyra is prepping to go to war for her throne and she moved out of King's Landing without looking back for years. Even Rhaenys is still not bowing to Rhaenyra because "it should have been me tho." So of all the characters with claim to a title, why is Baela like, "My greatest ambition is to marry Jace! Lucky me! I am speechless with joy!"
In version two or three, I tried to stick with her being Team Daemon, like from the perspective of the neglected child who becomes overly compliant, trying to earn her way back into the top spot of "number one child" by snitching on Rhaenys and Vaemond and joining Team "I will gladly sacrifice my dragon for Rhaenyra and her kids," but it just got sad, I couldn't. She's already doing that in the show so I decided, "nope, she's going to be very ooc and it'll be fine because this is a romcom and you're spending too much time on this."
I'm trying I guess to introduce Baela at a point where she's having a really drawn out epiphany moment and needing a moment. A quarter life crisis using medieval life expectancies? And Rhaena's sort of like, "You sweet summer child."
I honestly don't know anymore what I'm doing. I can't even say concretely what I'm trying to do. I just want to post it.😭

Sitting and talking alone with Rhaena was easier than he'd expected.  She was a good conversationalist who easily switched from topic to topic with an ease that felt incredibly natural.  Aegon was almost jealous of how easy it seemed to be for her to make idle conversation.  She was endearing in a way Aegon had never figured out how to be, even when he’d been a child.  He supposed different people were made for different things.  Either way, at least the atmosphere in the sitting room was easy and relaxed.  He’d expected to feel on edge until Helaena and his children returned.  “I’m glad the children all care for each other so much.  All Maelor has been able to talk about is the chance to see Baelon again.  I never had anyone in the family my own age beyond my siblings, so it’s nice the children have companions.”  He supposed that age gap might have contributed to the separation he’d felt from his elder sister’s part of the family as well.  Rhaena and Baela had been of a similar age with Rhaenyra’s elder sons, while Aegon had been quite a bit older than them all.  It had meant he had been forced to find his own friends elsewhere.  He was glad their family was fostering tighter bonds with their children than he’d been able to have growing up.
Aegon did his best to pay attention to Rhaena’s explanation about the younger children, but he was fairly sure he would forget it all again once he left the room.  It wasn’t out of malice, but simply a lack of time being around them.  Even when Aegon had lived in King’s Landing, he hadn’t often been in the company of his sister’s children beyond when they had turned up at his apartments to play with either Maelor or the twins.  He didn’t miss Rhaena’s slight stutter on the Valyrian term of endearment she used for Rhaenyra, but Aegon let the comment pass in the same way Rhaena did.  He cared little about how close or not she was to Rhaenyra.  He was glad she loved her stepmother and that the relationship was better than the one Rhaenyra had with his own mother.
The story about Aemond kicking poor Aemma on the stairs was amusing, more so from the idea of proper Rhaena scolding his brother over it than anything else.  He could use a good scolding every now and then.  Still, Aegon felt compelled to defend his brother slightly.  “He has some issues with depth perception.  He makes up for it well most of the time, but sudden changes can be hard for him to notice, such as a small child charging across his path.  He wouldn’t have meant any harm.”  Deep down, Aegon still carried a sense of guilt from not being there for his brother the night he had lost his eye.  He knew it wasn’t his fault.  For once, he’d been in his rooms exactly where he was supposed to be.  He’d been passed out drunk, but either way, he had been in his bedroom asleep as he was supposed to be.  He’d had no way to know Aemond had snuck out to claim a dragon, much less the fight that would occur afterwards.  But the guilt still lingered, climbing up his throat to choke him whenever he saw his brother without his eyepatch.  “I’m sure your scolding was warranted though.  My brother’s mood has been quite sharp recently and he shouldn’t have taken it out on a small child.  I wish I could have been there to see what you said to him.”  He couldn’t quite imagine the calm and smiling Rhaena in front of him giving into her anger to shout at his brother, but he supposed everyone had their limits and he knew Rhaena was protective over children.
The news about the younger Aegon enjoying the saddle Aegon had sent him instantly cheered his mood.  “It’s a similar model to mine.  I’ve spent some time working with the craftsman on Dragonstone to make a more efficient design.  I’m glad he enjoys it.”  To this day, Aegon was baffled about his sister’s choice to give one of her children the same name as him.  He went back day to day on whether it had been intended as an honor, a slight, or a decision made in complete indifference to him.  Either way, it made him feel more protective of the younger boy.  He felt like the name was somewhat unlucky.
“Sunfyre is doing well.  He’s not particularly fond of the Pit, but he enjoys being around the other dragons.  I almost always see him at least once a day, but as you’ve mentioned, it can be difficult to find the time.”  Aegon frowned, seeing the smile disappear off Rhaena’s face.  He understood how she felt.  Riding with a bonded dragon was one of the purest feelings in the world and it was almost painful when other obligations came before it.  “Perhaps we should ride together some time?  I can show you the new tricks Sunfyre and I have come up with during our time on Dragonstone.”

The sitting room was bright with a large window overlooking the courtyard below allowing sunlight to pour into the room, highlighting the golden accents on the furniture.  It was one of his favorite rooms in the castle.  It was tucked away from most people’s notice and the window could easily be propped open to let in air from the outside.  Back when they’d lived in the Red Keep, Aegon had enjoyed napping on the large couch in the corner while Helaena did her embroidery.
He’d come in to visit Helaena and the children who had all left their chambers to go visit with Rhaena in the sitting room.  However, once he stepped into the room, his family was nowhere to be seen though Rhaena was still in the room.  He thought about trying to subtly leave and avoid a potentially awkward conversation, but Rhaena had almost certainly seen him and slinking out the door wasn’t exactly great manners.  For most people, he might not have cared but Rhaena had always been kind to him and he didn’t think it was fair to be rude to her in return, especially not with how close she was to Helaena and his kids.
“I was looking for Helaena.  Do you think she’ll be back soon?” That was another thing he now remembered he disliked about the Red Keep.  It was so much harder to find people in a building as big and as full as this one currently was.  If his family planned on coming back here, he was probably better off waiting instead of searching the countless halls to figure out where they might have gone.
That would leave him alone in the room with Rhaena.  He’d spent time with her whenever she visited Dragonstone, but either one of the kids or Helaena had always been there to act as a buffer.  He wasn’t completely sure what she thought of him.  She was always smiling and seemingly happy to see him, but she was that way with everybody.  The suspicious part of him wanted to think it was all for show, but he was fairly sure it wasn’t.  He couldn’t imagine being that nice all the time; it sounded exhausting.  “If they’ll be back soon, would it be alright if I wait here?”

Was Daemon Badly Written?
I’ve been thinking more about Daemon and how his character was written this season. I do find it ironic when I see all these anti posts saying ‘why are you angry? Daemon was clearly written as a bad person/villain’ and like exactly, you’ve hit the nail right on the head, that is why Daemon fans are angry because he was written as more of a villain this season and he wasn’t supposed to be a villain. Not according to the source material which described him as being light and dark in equal parts, not according to the promotional interviews put out before the show even aired or the interviews etc that were released during the show’s airing.
The thing is writing Daemon as a morally grey character who is equally light and dark shouldn’t have been a challenging thing for the writers to do, there was a simple way of making sure they were keeping him in that in-between and that was for every dark scene make sure there is a light scene to counterbalance it. Which got me thinking how unbalanced was it really? Are we potentially being unfair to the writers? Maybe it is more balanced than we know just because the darker scenes are more shocking and make a bigger impact so it seems like there are more dark scenes than light. So I decided to mentally go through each episode and make a list of every action that could be seen as showing Daemon’s darker, more violent impulses and every action that could be seen to show his lighter, more human, softer more vulnerable side. Here is what I found.
So as far as those darker moments go here are all the moments I could think of that could paint Daemon in a ‘bad’ light. Some are obviously more severe than others. Some of these I myself didn’t mind all that much but I could see why others might considering them as bad traits.
Sitting on his brother’s throne in episode 1.
That brutal City watch scene where they are mutilating people.
Calling his wife a bronze bitch and that sheep are prettier.
Goading Otto by bringing up his late wife.
Deliberately choosing Otto’s son as his opponent in the tourney to mess with Otto.
Tripping Otto’s son’s horse.
Asking for Alicent’s favour, again to mess with Otto.
Pushing the servant when he tried to help him after Daemon was knocked off his horse.
Heir for a day statement.
Stealing Baelon’s dragon egg.
Being quick to anger and violence when negotiating with Otto.
Using Mysaria for his own gains by way of the fake pregnancy and wedding.
Siding with Corlys and going to war in the stepstones against his brother’s/the king’s wishes.
Beating the messenger.
Falsely surrendering under a white flag.
Knocking the boat on his return to Kings Landing.
Calls Rhea a ‘bronze bitch’ again and saying her womb is too hostile to carry a child.
Manipulating Rhaenyra and taking her to the brothel.
Leaving Rhaenyra alone in the brothel.
Calling Mysaria a ‘common whore’.
Killing his wife.
Mocking Rhea’s cousin and telling him he plans to claim Rhea’s inheritance.
Refusing to let Laena return home.
Ignoring Rhaena.
Walking away from his daughters after their mother’s death.
Sleeping with Rhaenyra on the day of his wife’s funeral.
Killing the servant to fake Laenor’s death.
Killing Vaemond
Ignoring Rhaenyra when she was in labour.
Disagreeing with Rhaenyra in front of her council.
Choking Rhaenyra.
Seeming really eager for war, saying he’d rather feed his son’s to the dragons and again being quick to anger and violence on the bridge scene with Otto.
So what about the lighter moments?
He genuinely feels bad for his family when Aemma and Baelon die and he tries to comfort Rhaenyra at the funeral.
He gives the egg back to Rhaenyra.
He defends his brother to Corlys.
He surrenders his crown to his brother.
We see him laughing with his brother in ep 4 in the gardens.
He tries to reassure Rhaenyra about marriage when she brings it up in the gods wood.
He strokes Laena’s pregnant belly.
He teaches Baela High Valyrian.
He asks if Laena will survive when the Maester suggests a c-section and is clearly worried about Laena.
He helps defend Rhaenyra’s sons during the dagger scene in the hall of nine in ep 7.
He scales a cliff to get Dragon eggs for his babies and looks so giddy when he brings them back.
He strokes Rhaenyra’s pregnant belly.
He is genuinely upset at his brother’s condition and checks his cup to make sure there is nothing nefarious in it.
He holds Rhaenyra’s hand when she is upset at her father’s condition.
He helps his brother to the throne and puts the crown on his head.
He is seen laughing at dinner with Rhaenyra.
He again defends his stepsons when they get into a fight with Aemond and Aegon.
He has that break down on the beach (even if it was only 2 secs long).
He crowns Rhaenyra and declares her queen.
He comforts her by holding her hand when she gets the news of Luke.
There could be some dark or light moments I am missing here but these are all the ones I could remember off the top of my head, if anyone can think of any I missed feel free to put them in the comments or add them in a reblog. As you can see I count 30 ‘bad’ moments to 20 ‘light’ moments. So there’s a difference of about 10 moments which I personally think is a big enough difference for it to be noticeable, especially as I mentioned before because those darker more brutal moments are going to stick more in a person’s mind than the softer moments. I mean what’s a hand hold compared to smashing someone’s head in with a rock. This needs to be taken into consideration when balancing out his character and adding those lighter moments to counteract the darker.
We also have to take into consideration that not every one of these scenes was actually written by the writers, whilst we don’t know for sure how many were improvised, as there could be more that we just haven’t had confirmed as being improvised, we know that Aemma’s funeral scene, Matt was the one who made the choice to play Daemon as being sad for his family. We know that the scene where he helps Viserys to the throne is also improvised by Matt. Then the scene where Daemon takes Rhaenyra’s hand and leads her to the fireplace as he tells her the news of Luke was also improvised by Matt. So that’s at least three that weren’t written by the writers bringing it down to 17 moments that the writers potentially wrote.
But then you come to the deleted scenes. The list of deleted scenes we know of so far are:
Daemon hugging his daughters
Daemon comforting Rhaenyra after their baby dies, who I have since learnt was named Visenya and was a girl, I don’t understand why they couldn’t had a line in there telling us this poor baby’s name, but I digress.
Daemon sparring supposedly when Rhaenyra is sending the boys on their missions.
Daemon hearing the news about Luke and processing it before delivering the news to Rhaenyra.
Daemon’s full beach breakdown scene
Daemon’s toast to his brother at dinner, they cut that in favour of the crown scene but personally I don’t see why they couldn’t have had both.
Most of these scenes would have shown Daemon’s softer more vulnerable side, all but one in fact, the sparring scene whilst it may have looked cool is just a sparring scene. Now you could say that its just a coincidence that most of these scenes are the softer more vulnerable scenes but then again how does that saying go, once is chance, two is a coincidence, three is a pattern and boy are we well past three at this point, its 5 scenes of Daemon being more human that they cut. Obviously I am not expecting them to have an exact number of light to dark moments but at least if they had kept these five scenes in it would have been 30-25 which at least would be a bit more balanced and might not have been as noticeable. Also I haven’t heard anything about them cutting out scenes that would show Daemon in a bad light, it seems like they chose to keep all those in. I think another reason why it was important to have these softer moments in this season to show that Daemon is both light and dark is because I think next season all of the characters are going to undoubtably be much darker than this season, they are going to war and will likely be doing messy, gruesome and brutal things to each other in order to win that war. As a result we are less likely to see anyone’s softer, lighter sides. Or at least seeing it less frequently. That would have been fine if they had written a more morally grey Daemon this season but it was clear his character was more inclined towards the darker aspects of his character, so you had him being dark this season and we’ll likely see him being even darker next season, so its no wonder many people are seeing him as just a straight up villain instead of as an anti hero as he is supposed to be. Them cutting so much out and having a clear imbalance of darker scenes to lighter only makes Condal’s comment of the audience needing to take the dark with the light all the more frustrating because I would happily have taken the dark with the light, if they had actually left the light parts in. The problem wasn’t that people weren’t accepting the darker moments it was that there weren’t enough lighter moments and that a good number were written filmed and then cut. I just think there is a very clear bias here and sadly it was a disservice to Daemon’s character in the end.

I do believe a lot of Green stans are hypocrites when they call out show!Viserys for being a rapist but, at the same time, totally ignore Aegon doing the same thing to his sister wife Helaena because then they would also have to condemn their beloved Alicent for marrying them in the first place and forcing her own daughter to become a child bride. Instead they're even claiming Aegon is probably nice to his wife in private because their mother would NEVER allow him to hurt her. They say it's just team black stans claiming the opposite, that it's marital rape. Honestly, who would want their drunk husband forcefully having sex with them? I doubt that line from episode 8 is supposed to mean anything else. And what's more, I've also seen some of them complaining the show ruined their relationship by citing the book, saying there was probably love between them. What?? First of all Aegon was a rapist in the book as well (something most of them have never accepted to this day and never will), he was out there sexually harassing the castle's serving maids and raping girls as young as 12 years old. This is not the behavior of a loving and loyal husband, but one of a cheater who forces himself on women. Unless I'm missing something, there's no indication their arranged marriage became a loving one at all (especially in the show).
Link to Post about Who Arranges and/or is Responsible for Aegon & Helaena Marrying
Link to Post Talking about TV Helaena and Aegon, esp Supported by Episode 8 of Season 1
You're not missing anything about their book relationship. Helaena herself indicates that their marriage was a fluke:
Princess Helaena was breaking her fast with her children when the Kingsguard came to her…but when asked the whereabouts of Prince Aegon, her brother and husband, she said only, “He is not in my bed, you may be sure. Feel free to search beneath the blankets."
("The Blacks and the Greens")
There's really no reason to think that F&B is unreliably telling/twisting this moment, as this part is told through Munkun/Orwyle, Orwyle who was there to witness Alicent putting out this search party for Aegon to get him quickly crowned. Yes, Orwyle was writing to paint himself as non complicit/innocuous as possible to avoid execution during his imprisonment. Yes Helaena is reported to be a "pleasant", seemingly nonconfrontational person.
Yes there is the possibility that he wasn't in the room when Helaena answered the searchers. However, again, what we know of Aegon, his raping, his philandering, the fact he wasn't present and in the room with Helaena and had to be looked for for maybe a few hours before being found and then found with a 12 year old (he was in his early 20s), speaks volumes about their relationship alone. We do not hear anything that shows Aegon was even involved in his kids' development or nurturing, or hung out with them just because.
Meanwhile we absolutely, at least know, that Viserys kept Rhaenyra close to him at feast while Aemma was alive, and even more so after he named her heir. We absolutely know that Baela and Rhaena, Aegon III and Viserys II and all the Velaryon boys were close with, trusted, or worshipped Daemon by:
Jace trusting him with Dragonstone and the Seeds
no would-have-been-used-against-Daemon rumor; not even rumors of contention between any of them (same guy -Daemon- that people feared? Plz they'd be talking)
Baela being described as the female version of Daemon, or her going through mourning him by being "wild" as Aegon's council saw it
Rhaena herself having Daemon's fire (fear of reaction to her 1st husband's death, love for attention, etc)
Aegon III naming his daughter after her, and Daena naming her son after Daemon (indicates Aegon expressed his love for Daemon to her)
And there is absolutely no indication that Aegon II's relationship with Helaena mirrored anything like Jaehaerys x Alysanne/Daemon x Rhaenyra/Alyssa x Baelon/Aemon x Jocelyn/Rhaenys x Corlys. Even in the more contentious couples' earliest, most romantic years. Not a one. No reports of longing glances, hushed conversations ignoring the rest of the room as if they were in a bubble, screams of pleasure, tender arm holding, flying their dragons together, no famous words of affection or appreciation of the others' attributes. Nothing.
And Helaena being a "pleasant" person does not not negate the ability to establish boundaries, fight back when alarmed/annoyed/feeling intruded on, or had some Targ pride herself. Or have some self possession:
Blind to her danger, the queen appeared as dusk was settling over the castle, accompanied by her three children. Jaehaerys and Jaehaera were six, Maelor two. As they entered the apartments, Helaena was holding his little hand and calling out her mother’s name. Blood barred the door and slew the queen’s guardsman, whilst Cheese appeared to snatch up Maelor. “Scream and you all die,” Blood told Her Grace. Queen Helaena kept her calm, it is said. “Who are you?” she demanded of the two.
("A Son for a Son")
So really, we absolutely can and should take as fact that Helaena said what I quoted about Aegon not being in her bed.
