The Spooky Save - Version 1
The first version of The Spooky Save is here!
The inspiration for the save comes from my love of horror movies and Halloween. Throughout the save, each world is/will be inspired by some kind of trope you find in horror movies or other spooky media. All lots are then built to match that vibe and be the kinds of places characters visit in those movies (some lots are based on real movie sets!) and the Sims are the kinds of characters that we find in those corresponding movies.
For this first release, we have three spooky worlds:
Willow Creek as the Quintessential American Slasher (think the Scream or Halloween films) - Willow Creek is home to a close-knit community living in an idyllic, All-American town. Life here is perfect! Good schools! Lots to do! Town spirit! Only two (okay, possibly three) grisly murders/murder sprees in the town’s history (that we know of)! The mayor swears it’s safe here and that choosing to locate the mental institution so that it overlooks the cemetery was not the ominous decision it seems.
Copperdale as the Missing Teen Thriller (think Twin Peaks, Pretty Little Liars, Cruel Summer) - The night she was crowned Homecoming Queen, Addison Pine disappeared without a trace. Everyone had their own opinion about what happened to Addison, but one belief was constant: Addison was okay and would return home like nothing had happened. Now, one year later, the town is shocked to learn that Addison's body was discovered. Even more surprising - Addison had only been dead a few hours when she was found. Where had Addison been this past year? Why did she come back now? And who is her killer?
StrangerVille as the SciFi Government Conspiracy (think Stranger Things, X-Files) - StrangerVille attracts oddballs and outcasts who want to create their own sense of normalcy, as well as stubbornly traditional people who insist on covering any weirdness up with conventional norms. Yet all citizens have one thing in common: they don't want their perpetually shoddy, stuck-in-the-'80s town to undergo much change. However, after the mayor signed contracts with a research lab and the military, citizens have noticed some changes around town and worry what might be next.

Download the version that DOES NOT include For Rent pack here!
Quick disclaimer: I did my best to playtest things! But I definitely could not get to check everything. Please let me know if something is not working so I can repair it!
The whole save is a work-in-progress and more will come down the line. I just wanted to get the first version out so you can have some extra fin this Spooky Season.

American things i believe would KILL Simon🦅:
1. COSTCO
2. Driving for 10 fucking hrs and still be in Texas or california
3. High school prom/homecoming. He doesn’t get it.
“Wtf do u need a homecoming for I came home just fine after being hung by the ribs🙄”
4. A yearly checkup with ob/gyn and a hormone lab panel costed over $400 bc the insurance decided “this wasn’t preventative care”
5. Tornado season
6. Healthcare in general
7. The ginormous size of coke and slushes. Can he eat all of that? YES. Was he scared of that much sugar? YES.
8. Texas road house. He ain’t safe from those clogged arteries😔
9. Graves
One more thing, anon:
Iced tea.
Iced. Tea.
Iced. Bloody. Fuckin'. Tea.
Also, no ONE can resist the hot rolls and butter. NO ONE. Not even Simon fuckin' Riley.
Graves would be that bastard who'd have huge ass billboards posted of himself across Texas advertising his barbecue sauce and catering company and Simon's inner Ghost intensifies every time lmao.

Hello my name is Ace and i'm back on my lab rats bullshit so i'm rewatching the entire show
i've been trying to sort out all of the characters ages in my head since the dawn of time so im using this rewatch as an opportunity to keep record of all the times the characters mention their ages or time as a whole
also i would like to make it known that i have no idea how American schools work
also also I know that this is a kids show and I knew that the timeline had issues way before I started this but it was a fun thing to keep track of as I watched and now I have this information and I have no idea what to do with it so enjoy i guess
Lab Rats
Season 1, Episode 1: Crush, Chop and Burn Part 1
- All of the siblings attend High School meaning that they are from the ages of 13 - 18
- All of the siblings attend the same gym class
Season 1, Episode 8: Bionic Birthday Fail
- It's Leos 14th birthday
- Donald says that he's 38
this particular episode first aired on May the 7th so this could be Leo's date of birth but it's never said what the day is in the episode
also side note but it is cannon that Davenport did not celebrate Adam Bree and Chases birthdays up until this point. Also they don't know who Santa is but do celebrate Christmas with presents and decorations the same as seen in episode 3
Season 1, Episode 14: Chore Wars
- Chase says that 2009 was 3 years ago making the year this episode takes place 2012
Season 1, Episode 15: Dude, Wheres My Lab
- It's summer vacation meaning that it takes place during the months of May, June, July or August
Season 1, Episode 16: Air Leo
- Leo says that he's 14
- The episode takes place in the school meaning that if it was summer vacation in the last episode then it's a new school year in this one. American school years start in either late August or early September
Season 1, Episode 17: Night of the Living Virus
this isn't really anything but it was very obvious to me that this episode was shot before the others. Not only does Chase have his old haircut that he had for the first few episode but the sofa has the old throw pillows that they changed at the end of the second episode. Idk what this means for the timeline of when this episode took place (i believe it's a halloween episode as it aired in October) so idk if this episode is supposed to take place before the other episodes or if the producers just didn't care enough to care about the changes
- Caitlin is at least 16 years old in this episode as they mention her sweet 16
Season 1, Episode 20: Mission Space
- Leo says that Marcus is a Sagittarius
- Bree says that she's also a Sagittarius
Sagittarius have their birthdays between November 22nd and December 21st
Season 2, Episode 1: Speed Trapped
- Leo says he's 14
Season 2, Episode 2: Spy Fly
- Leo says that Davenport is almost 40
- It appears that Adam and Chase are in the same health class since they have the same assighment
- Bree and Leo are both doing the same physics test in the same class
Season 2, Episode 9: Spikes Got Talent
- At the beginning of the episode the siblings talk about the yearbook and about how everyone got a most likely to apart from Chase. This indicates that the yearbooks have just been handed out. When yearbooks come out depends on the school but it's mostly near the end of the school year
Season 2, Episode 12: Trucked Out
- Adam gets his drivers license meaning that he is at least 16 years old
Considering he passed on his first test and Bree, Chase and Leo don't have their licenses we can safely assume that Bree, Chase and Leo are all under the age of 16 in this episode
Season 2, Episode 15: Bionic Showdown Part 2
- Marcus is under the age of 16
Season 2, Episode 16: Memory Wipe
- The siblings erase 24 years of Donalds memory making him think that he's 15. Meaning that in this episode he would've been 39
Season 2, Episode 19: Llama Drama
- It's leading up to the homecoming game. Homecoming usually takes place in late September or early October meaning that it is probably a new school year
Season 2, Episode 20: The Haunting of Mission Creek High
- It's the homecoming dance meaning that it's still late September/early October
Season 2, Episode 21: Perry 2.0
- Adam and Bree seem to have gym class together but they're literally in gym for the entire episode apart from a small scene where they're at lunch so that might've been some special type of sport day or something like that
Season 2, Episode 23: Prank You Very Much
- It's been 150 days since Janelle and Leo first spoke to each other. Janelles first appearance in the show was Season 1 Episode 10: Can I Borrow the Helicopter? meaning that it (should) have been no more then 150 days since that episode. Though this doesn't make much sense since some of the most recent episodes revolves around homecoming which starts at the beginning of the school year and we already had a summer vacation episode last season and there is no way that everyone from "Dude Where's My Lab?" and "Llama Drama" happened within a month
Season 2, Episode 24: 'Twas the Mission Before Christmas
- It's Christmas Eve
- Tasha says that it's their first Christmas together but again like i just said this makes no sense since at least one christmas should've passed
- Bree says that Davenport Industry's have been risking the fate of mankind since 1992. If she hasn't made this year up then that means that if Donald is 39 in this episode and this episode takes place in 2012 like they're suggesting (even tho the episode came out in 2013. If this is their first christmas together it should be 2012) then Davenport Industry's started 20 years ago when Donald was 19
- Chase says that he is 15
Season 2, Episode 25: Trent Gets Schooled
- Part of this episode revolves around taking pictures for the Yearbook. Since Bree mentions her photo from the previous year and yearbook photos were mentioned in Spikes Got Talent this means that the siblings have DEFINITELY been going to school for longer then a year
- Leo and Trent both say that it's not football season. Football season is usually late August/early September to mid/late October meaning that it is not during this time in the episode
- Trent does a test in this episode and after passing he graduates immediately and then becomes the coach. Idk if it's possible for Trent to just immediately graduate at a random point in the school year or if this had to have taken place during the end of the school year
Season 3, Episode 5: Zip It
- Bree, Chase and Caitlin all get a part time job in this episode. In California you have to be at least 14 to work so this doesn't tell us anything about how old they are considering we know that Chase is at least 15 but I'm keeping it in anyway
Season 3, Episode 7: Scramble the Orbs
- Leo, Adam and Janelle have a gym class together
Season 3, Episode 9: Taken
- Douglas is at least 40 years old as he shows Leo a video from his 40th birthday party. This means that Donald has to be over the age of 40
Season 3, Episode 10: Three Minus Bree
- Eddy says that Leo is 16 years old
Season 3, Episode 12: Cyborg Shark Attack
- It's summer as said by Perry and indicated in what the characters are wearing but the school is still open meaning it might be around May - June
Season 3, Episode 13: You Posted What!?! Part 1
- Donald says that he's had Adam Bree and Chase for 16 years meaning that they are all at least 16 years old
Season 3, Episode 14: You Posted What!?! Part 2
- Donald says that he's 43
Season 3, Episode 15: Armed and Dangerous
- Donald says that he and the trio have had 16 years of training
Season 3, Episode 17: Brother Battle
- Bree mentions working a 12 hour shift at Tech Town. According to Google people under the age of 18 can be asked to work for longer then 8 hours a day in exceptional circumstances. They can ask only if no one who's over the age of 18 is available to do the work
Season 3, Episode 20: Merry Glichmas
- It's Christmas
- Leo says he's 16
- In the last Christmas episode Chase says that he's 15 meaning that for this Christmas Chase has to be at least 16. Since Leo says that he's 16 and it's could either be that Chase is only a few months older then Leo or that this episode takes place two years after the last Christmas episode and Chase is 17
Season 3, Episode 22: The Rise Of The Secret Soldiers Part 2
- It's given off that Krane began raising the secret soldiers since they were babies behind Douglas back as Douglas says that he had a tone of baby pictures meaning that Douglas and Krane must've been working together for at least 16 years
Season 3, Episode 23: Bionic House Party
- Bree mentions that some of the soldiers used her prom dress for target practice giving the impression that Bree has either already attended prom or was planning to soon. Since Bree is never seen with a stable boyfriend throughout the show it's likely that this was for her own prom. Students who attend prom are the senior class who are aged 17/18 years old. (i just wrote this and played the episodes only for Chase to say that the odds of her using it were very slim. Idk why Bree would have a prom dress if she never intends to go to prom but this could likely mean that she's a senior at the moment and already brought her dress before asking anyone to be her date) (idk use your imagination)
- Leo says that Donald is way older then he claims to be, giving the impression that throughout the show Leo has thought that Donald was younger then he really is because Donald keeps lying about his age. So far Donald has mentioned himself being 43. This would make somewhat sense if it wasn't for the memory wipe episode
- Bree says that Leo found them five friends in three years indicating that the first episode took place 3 years ago and if that episode took place in 2012 then it is currently 2015
Season 3, Episode 24: First Day Of Bionic Academy
- Bree says that she's still waiting on her sweet sixteen party meaning that Bree is at least 16 years old
- Leo has had his bionics for six months meaning it's been six months since the episode You Posted What!?! took place
- Bree mentions how she got stood up by a boy on prom night. this might be calling back to her unused prom dress
Season 4, Episode 4: Under Siege
- Leo refers to the time where Bree and Chase were looking after Kerry (Perrys niece) in the season 2 episode 18: Adam Up as "last year".
- Adam says that Leo is 16 years old
Season 4, Episode 6: Mission Mania
- Leo says he's been going on missions for over a month. His first mission would've been sometime after Rise of the Secret Soldiers
Season 4, Episode 8: Forbidden Hero
- Bree says that she has matured since high school giving off the impression that she did graduate. But it's noteworthy that none of the siblings go to school anymore and with Leo's last confirmed age being 16 he and maybe Chase should at least still be going. I can understand Chase no longer attending because there isn't much for school to teach him and he could've easily graduated early but it's odd for Leo to have just stopped especially since Tasha seems like the kind of mother to put Leos education over his bionic life. Also the last episode where we see the siblings attending school was Season 3, Episode 19: Face Off. In this episode all of the siblings were attending school. The show has never been accurate or cared about the characters ages when it comes to school and what classes they're attending so idk why i keep expecting them to subtly have Adam no longer be a student anymore or something but it was worth a try. Either way i think it's fair to say that school is giving us nothing in terms of finding out how old these characters are supposed to be.
- Also since i'm pretty sure that this is Caitlins last appearance in the show i'll mention now that she should be at least 19 years old since the Season One episode: Night Of The Living Virus mentions her sweet sixteen and with season one taking place in 2012 and this episode taking place in 2015 at the earliest, Caitlin should be at least 19. Although with that being said she was seen in Season 3 Episode 16: Alien Gladiators in school which she should've graduated by then. Again, the school setting seems to be ruining everything for me right now
Season 4, Episode 12: Space Elevator
- Chase says that their bionic secret has been out for a year meaning that it has been at least a year since Season 3 Episode 13/14: You Posted What!?! and it's been at least six months since the Bionic Academy opened
- Chase says that he went to High School for a year an a half meaning that everything that happened between the Season One, Episode One and Season Three Episode Nineteen happened within a year and a half (seems unlikely but okay)
Season 4, Episode 13: Bionic Action Hero Part 1
- Despite the fact that Leo moved up two colours in the last episode he's back to wearing the yellow shirt in this one meaning that this episode could've taken place before the last one but chances are the writers just don't care
Season 4, Episode 15: One Of Us
- We don't see Leo in his uniform in this episode but looking at the extras nobody is wearing the yellow shirt. In Season 2, Episode 12: Space Elevator all of the students moved up a colour and Leo two colours meaning that this episode takes place after the Space Elevator one definitely
- Bree says that she has 30 more years of being really cute. idk what this could tell us about her age currently but i'm taking what i can get
Season 4, Episode 18: The Curse of the Screaming Skull
- It's their first halloween at the Academy
Season 4, Episode 19: On The Edge Part 1
- Leo says that Chase named himself mission leader when he was 14 and Chase corrects him and says that he was 12. This could indicate that the trios first mission was when Chase was 14 and that's why Leo thought he named himself leader then
Season 4, Episode 20: On The Edge Part 2
- It's been two weeks since the last episode
Season 4, Episode 22: And Then There Were Four
- In the episode On The Edge, Leo becomes a mentor but for this episode he is back in his students uniform for whatever reason meaning that this episode could've taken place before On The Edge
- Douglas says that Daniel was just a baby the day that Donald took Adam Bree and Chase from him meaning that when Donald took the kids Daniel already existed
- Daniel is thirteen in this episode WHICH MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE. Donald said in You Posted What!?! that he had Adam Bree and Chase for 16 years. this episode takes place at least a year after that one meaning that it should've been no less then 17 years since Donald took Adam Bree and Chase in. If Daniel already existed when Donald did this (which he did) then he should be at least 17 years old
- Bree refers to her, Adam and Chase as teenagers so they all had to have been under the age of 19 and since it was said before that Donald must've had the trio for 17 years at this point their ages should be Adam: 19 Bree: 18 and Chase: 17
- It's said that the siblings threw Chase a 16th birthday party without inviting Chase (ouch) meaning that Chase is at least 16 years old
Season 4, Episode 23: Space Colony Part 1
- Perry says that she snuck up to space with the rest of the colonists when they were sent up. The colonists have been in space for almost a month and Perrys most recent appearance was in Season 4, Episode 21: Ultimate Tailgate Challenge, meaning that it has been at least a month since that episode took place
Season 4, Episode 25: The Vanishing Part 1
- Leo is back in his mentor outfit
- Bree says that she's a teenager and doesn't even have her drivers licence yet but there's no way i'm believing that she's under the age of 16 so i'm just gonna guess that she didn't have a chance to take any tests yet
Lab Rats Elite Force
Season 1, Episode 1: The Rise Of Five
- Donald says that he used to play in the subway 40 years ago. imma say that this means that he's at least 45 years old
Season 1, Episode 3: Power Play
- Bree says that there's three teenage boys living in the penthouse meaning that Chase, Kaz and Olivier are all still teenagers
Season 1, Episode 8: Coming Through in the Clutch
- The episode is focused on an Olympic send off event where fans can go and meet Olympians before they go to the Olympic games in Rio. They mention the Olympics being the ones held in Rio multiple times throughout the episode. The Rio Olympics were held in 2016 meaning that this episode takes place sometime in the summer of 2016 making this 4 years after the first episode of Lab Rats
- Bob says that he's 14 now meaning that he wasn't during season 4 of Lab Rats
Season 1, Episode 9: The Intruder
- Aj is 10 years old
- Chase says that his birthday is August 5th
Season 1, Episode 13: Sheep-Shifting
- It's Halloween and is implied to be the Elite Forces first Halloween together
- Bree says that she's 17 (idk how)
Season 1, Episode 15: They Grow Up So Fast
- Tasha visits in this episode with Naomi. During the Season 4 finale Tasha tells the family that she's pregnant and that it's a girl. The earliest you have to be to find out the sex of your baby is around 14 weeks but Doctors generally recommend waiting until 19-20 weeks (around 4 months.) Tasha does not seem to be showing at all during the season 4 finale (probably because the actress Angel wasn't pregnant and they didn't see the need to have her wear some kind of fake bump or anything since she wasn't so far in) and you start showing around 16-20 weeks leading me to believe that she was around 14-16 weeks pregnant at the time which is around 3 months meaning that Tasha had around 6 months until Naomi was born. Tasha says that she "hasn't had a moment to herself in 11 months meaning that Naomi is 11 months old in this episode. meaning that it's been around 17 months (a year and 5 months) since Lab Rats ended
- Namoi being 11 months old means that it must've been at least that long since the Elite Force was brought together as during Season 1, Episode 5: Need For Speed Douglas says that Donald isn't with the Elite Force because he wanted to be with Tasha when the baby arrived and during Season 1, Episode 7: The List Donald send the Elite Force a box of their old things as he was turning the lab into a nursery for the new baby. Although they never say if Naomi had been born yet.
Notes
I originally had the idea of making some form of a timeline of events to try to get something out of all of this but I literally did not have enough brain cells to do so. If you want to feel free though
I don't know why I did this. For some reason I just find this fun but I'm sure that we can all agree that this timeline is fucked and makes no sense whatsoever.
Anyways... i hope you got something out of reading all of this if you did *thumbs up emoji*

9-1-1 Rewatch
Season 2, Episode 6: Dosed
Ah, Maddie's move. The first couch moment.
Also we now know the Buckley tastes: Maddie thinks Chim and cute and Buck thinks Eddie and Chris are cute. (so far, 4 seasons later, this has not changed).
Poor Maddie, I cannot even image her terror. (Did she just steal someone else's wind chimes?).
Eddie being competent and stuff - sexy (Buck agrees).
Also Buck's childlike glee when meeting Taylor and asking her to report the traffic for him is hilarious. It's about equal to his joy while eating cupcakes later in the episode.
I adore Bobby's dislike of the filming crew - he's so protective of his space and his people.
Generally this episode is a very good introduction to Taylor and her character. I'm not surprised she ended up with a larger role as the show went on, I really enjoy her driven confident slightly abrasive attitude.
The little interviews with each main member of the 118 are quite revealing as well: Bobby doesn't want to talk, Buck flirts and talks about how amazing Bobby is, Eddie talks about comradery and not much else, Chim brags about the calendar, and Hen shows both her heart and her empathy.
The calls in this episode are so weird and wonderful. I should not have been eating while watching this one though - my mistake.
Chim is going to be so thankful he missed those brownies in about 15 minutes.
Everyone, please chime in: who has the best trip? I think Hen does. Hen and Buck still seem very happy, Eddie is high but scared. Bobby turns into a science teacher, until he climbs up on the roof to talk to his dead daughter, then things get a little dangerous.
All I know is Athena is exactly what they all needed in this situation.
Flirt-fighting. I'm with the camera man on this one.
May looks so beautiful in her dress. Though as a Canadian I'm not sure I know the difference between homecoming and prom? Must be an American thing.

The CW just revealed their new fall schedule and announced they still haven't made decisions about "Superman and Lois", "Gotham Knights", and "All-American: Homecoming". Most of the entertainment news I check are saying it seems like they're waiting till after their seasons are over to decide but could also mean they might cancel all 3 shows as normally when broadcast networks wait it's to let the cast/crew contracts expire so they can easily cancel them. I don't watch the latter but would hate to lose the last 2 current shows I have left. I know HBO Max has already said they might save "Superman and Lois", which is a bit unexpected as they were supposed to only have either DCU or "The Batman" tied shows now but James Gunn has said favorable comments about "Superman and Lois" so we'll see what happens. Either way I'm preparing for all to be cancelled as it's seeming more likely. Also means I'll only have 1 show I want to watch on The CW in the fall, "Sullivan's Crossing", but that's actually a Canadian show and they got the rights to air it here, which is a change for me as for years going back to when this network was both The WB and UPN it was one of my most watched ones.

American Dragon: Jake Long retro-review
Tumblr media
American Dragon: Jake Long is a series that was created by Jeff Goode. The series aired on Disney Channel from January 21, 2005 to September 1, 2007. It has 52 episodes (22 minutes each, a few divided by two 11 minutes segments). The first season consists of 21 episodes. The second season has 31 episodes. The series also had a crossover episode with Lilo and Stitch The Series called  "Morpholomew".
Show premise
American Dragon:Jake Long is about a 13 year old Chinese-American boy named Jake Long who plays the role of protector for all magical creatures in United States. He is able transform into a dragon when he pleases, a power he inherited from his maternal side of the family. Guided by grandfather, Luong Lao Shi, Jakes tries to balance his life between being a regular teenager and dragon magical protector, something that it isn’t always as easy as it sounds.
Plot and structure
One thing that made this series stand out from other shows of its era was that there was a bigger storyline that developed through the seasons. Every 4-5 episodes there were events that changed the status quo or continued the story. Characters developed and were explored in different ways throughout the series too.
Season 1 is more episodic with the episodes often acting as standalone stories rather than adding to the bigger narrative. Every 4 episodes or so the main arc is explored or new lore is revealed. Despite of this, the stories still remained to fun. There is still character development and things that are set up for Season 2 arcs.  There are a few episodes that are divided in two 11 minutes segments for some reason. My only guess is that they were still experimenting with the format and seeing which one worked better for the show.
In Season 2 the writing and direction overall changes notably. There is a lot more emphasis in the main story arcs and there are some subplots in between as well, keeping the show more enganging. The series’ tone becomes more darker while maintaining the humor from the first season in character development episodes. In my opinion, this season has a good balance between ¨plot episodes¨ and ¨character episodes¨. For every 2-3 ¨character episodes¨ there is one ¨plot episode¨. That way it doesn’t feel it is going too slow or too rushed. Season 1 had less continuity when compared to Season 2. In addition to this, there is more emotional depth in the stories. As i was rewatching the series, i felt like the characters were given a lot more dimension to them. Their issues became more personal. Some episodes were dedicated to explore how they felt about certain important event and how they dealt with it.
If there is one complain i have of this season is that after the episode ¨Homecoming¨ the main story looses it focus and there isn’t more proper set up for the other main arc. This could be traced back to the fact that these two main stories were supposed to be in two different seasons and the team felt forced to writer them all in one long season in case the show got cancelled.
Another issue is that some important plot episodes like  "Homecoming" and  "The Hong Kong Longs" should have been 44 minute episodes to cover all the things that happen in them. Because they only last 22 minutes, this makes the events feel very rushed, specially in "The Hong Kong Longs" it ruins important character beats.
Characters and arcs
While i talked about how American Dragon has a big plot, the core of the series is its characters and their relationships. The main focus of the show is Jake trying to balance his teenager daily life with his guardian dragon duties. This means most episode conflicts center around him learning things or developing in some way.
The main cast consist in:
Jake Long: The main protagonist and star of the show
Luong Lao Shi: Jake’s grandfather and teacher. He used to be the Chinese Dragon when he was younger and is able to transform in a dragon just like Jake.
Fu Dog: A 600 year old magical talking dog that helps Lao and Jake in their missions.
Trixie Carter: One of Jake’s best friends. She earlier learns about his dragon identity and helps him in many missions.
Arthur P. "Spud" Spudinski: The other Jake’s best friend. He learns about Jake’s dragon identity at same time as Trixie and helps him in many missions.
Haley Kay Long: Jake’s little sister. She is a child prodigy and she is able to use her dragon powers yet not as powerful as Jake’s.
Susan Luong-Long: Jake and Haley’s mother and Lao Shi’s dauther. The dragon powers skipped her generation.
Jonathan Long: Jake and Haley’s father. He is a normal human and he doesn’t know anything about the existence of magical creatures, including Jake and Haley’s dragon powers.
Rose/Huntsgirl: A popular girl that Jake has a crush on. Very early in the series it is revealed that she works for the main antagonists, the Huntsclan. Over time she develops feelings for Jake and eventually learns about his dragon identity. This leads her to change her ways and help Jake with stopping the Huntsclan.
Main antagonists:
The Huntsclan: A fanatic cult like human group who is always hunting magical creatures and becomes a bigger treat as the plot advances. In plenty of episodes, Jake and other dragons’s role is to protect the magical creatures from the Huntsclan  They are lead by the the Huntsman, who serves as master figure for Rose. The Dark Dragon: Not much is known about him except that he is a dragon that once turned evil centuries ago. He is a powerful dragon and his human identity is never revealed in the series. He appears less often than the Huntsclan but he is still a very dangerous adversary.
As you can see, the series has a big cast. This doesn’t mention all the secondary characters there are in the show, which often new get introduced every 2-3 episodes.
Most of the episodes focus in exploring or developing Jake in someway. Jake is a very flawed protagonist who usually can be selfish and act without thinking. In the first episodes he has the habit of abusing his dragon powers to ¨cheat¨ through life and this ends up getting him in trouble. His huge ego is a facade he uses to hide his insecurities, which he learns to overcome over time. Despite his attitude problems, he always tries helping magical creatures in need and really cares about his family and friends. He takes pride in being a magical protector, a role that is important to him.
Tumblr media
He also has a very complicated relationship with Rose. At the start of the series he falls in love with her without knowing that she works for the Huntsclan. The same applies to Rose, with her not knowing that Jake is also his mortal enemy. Over time they learn each other’s secret identity and Rose decides to help Jake with stopping the Huntsclan. Their relationship is one of the things that is constanly changing in almost every episode when the plot is about them and its one of the best written parts of the show. Usually there is a problem with how animated shows potray teenage romance but with Jake and Rose’s case is executed very well. What’s more, it a good example of how to do enemies to lovers right and the complications that cause to the characters involved.
If there is one problem i have about their dynamic is that i wish Rose could have had episodes or more scenes exploring her character without Jake having to be in it. I think the series does a decent job at establishing that Rose has a life outside Jake. However, more scenes developing how she feels or her story would have helped her character overall. For example: An episode about how she was raised in the Huntsclan.
Moving on to the rest of the cast, i think the series does a good job a developing most of them. They get their own episodes and side plots showing different sides of their personality and lives. One thing i appreciate about the show is that it has episodes in which the main focus isn’t on Jake but other characters. This helps giving the show more variety and developing these characters. For instance: One of my favourite episodes from Season 1 "Keeping Shop" involves Trixie and Spud taking charge of Jake’s dragon duties while he and his grandfather are busy elsewhere. Fu takes the role of master here and teaches Trixie and Spud how to use dragon powers with a enchanted dragon disguise.
There are episodes that develop Jake’s relationship with his family too. Most of them are great and have sweet moments. Jake has a good chemistry with every member of his family and, because of this, an episode can have a different ¨feel¨ to it depending on the relationship that is being developed.
American Dragon has tons of secondary characters. Some are more memorable than others depending on their story and their evolution. Some are funny while others are more interesting. It’s quite impressive how the writers were able to introduce new every 2-3 episodes and still managed to make it work.
However, in spite of having all these positive things, there are some problems. For starters, not all characters get the same level of development. Trixie is one character i believe that it should have had more than one episode about her perspective. Maybe having to choose between a career she likes and her parents career. Or her romantic relationship with Kyle.
Jake has a few episodes of him learning lessons that he already learned more than one time. Part of this can be excused because it this is a show from the earlier 2000′s and continuity was harder to execute back in those days. The biggest offender of this is  "Game On", an episode that would fit well in Season 1 or early Season 2. Not near the end of the series when Jake has grown past this lesson.
On last point, some secondary characters feel that they have potential was never given proper time to be explored. For instance, Nigel Thrall is set up to be a foil and friendly rival to Jake in his debut episode...to barely do anything with him. I think this comes from the writers trying to put to major plot threads that were supposed to be in two seasons and not in one. This likely lead to some concepts to not be given proper continuation.
These flaws can be a bit frustrating but they didn’t take my enjoyment out of the show. I think that as long as one keeps in mind that this is an old show and the problems it had during its production, it is fun to watch.
On lore and worldbuilding
I think one of the aspects that kept me enganged during my rewatch was how each episode would introduce some new element about the magical world and how it works. It’s actually intriguing. Every magical creature has its own powers, culture and society. This helped the series with not making it feel repetitive and always have something new to be interested in. I really like how the show team didn’t limit themselves to have two or three types of magical creatures and instead did a little bit of everything. It gives off the impression that the magical world is as big, if not bigger, than the human world. The series often uses dragon lore to represent certain themes such as the changes Jake goes through with his powers as a metaphor for puberty.
Gerenal animation and sound aspect.
For most part the animation looks solid. It’s nothing amazing but it works well for an action adventure show. Some action sequences are entertaining to watch. The characters have fun expressions.
Tumblr media
(Jake and Lao’s dragon form designs in Season 2 art style) If there is one aspect American Dragon is controversial for is the the huge change in art direction in Season 2. Most of the characters got a new design, the art style changed to a angular simplified one. Some magical creatures looked like different species from the ones of Season 1. I personally prefer the art style of Season 1. It has a cartoonish vibes to it. It’s more pleasant to see and it fits better the tone of the show. I don’t dislike Season 2 style, in fact, i got used to it rather quickly. My main issue is that it feels more ¨stiff¨ and less expressive the Season 1 artstyle.
As for the voice cast, it’s pretty good. There are some well known voice actors here such as: Dante Basco ( Jake Long), John DiMaggio (Fu Dog), Mae Whitman (Rose). Although there are maybe some secondary characters that didn’t have the best choice and aren’t that good, the main cast does have solid voice actors to make up for that.
On the soundtrack, it is okay from what i heard. It improves in Season 2, probably because there is better direction in that season. They music has a bigger emotional impact to it than it had in the first season.
Representation stuff
I don’t feel like i’m the best to fully judge this aspect of the series. There are some things that haven’t aged well, being a series of 2000′s. There are some innapropiate jokes that wouldn’t be get a pass nowadays and a few writing choices in a few episodes that are rather... questionable.
Something i appreciate about the series is how Jake is mixed race ( chinese-european). His mother and grandfather are chinese and his sister is mixed race. His father is white/european. They all get their own episodes to get developed. There some episodes that explore Jake’s chinese part of the family such as when he visits them in  "Feeding Frenzy" or when Lao teaches Jake about their culture.
One of my favourite episodes.  "Year of the Jake", is about Jake learning to be more involved with his chinese heritage and see to the value in it when he makes the mistake of cleaning the ¨good luck¨ out of his granfather’s shop. The episode takes place during Chinese New Year inuniverse. There are some scenes of the rest of Jake’s family participating in the parade, which is pretty cool.
The female characters in this show are able to stand on their own ground and are treated as their own person. I like the writing choice of not making Trixie Jake’s girlfriend and instead Jake having a crush in other characters. (Mainly Rose). I do wish that Rose had a few episodes about her without Jake having to be in it. Maybe some interactions with Trixie or Hayley, for example. I like her character but i feel like she could have had more screen time for her own.
About the episode order
In a minor note, American Dragon had its episodes airing out of order for some reason. This lead to errors in continuity if they are not watched in the proper order. Things that should have happened took place later, episodes that were supposed to take place before an specific plot point aired later.
Luckily some fans have found the correct watching order, which was very useful for me during my rewatch. This changes quite a lot the pacing of the series too. If any of you ever considers watching this series, i highly suggest using the episode guide to avoid continuity errors and confusion.
In conclusion
American Dragon: Jake Long is a fun series that has aged quite well despite all the years that have passed since it finished airing. It has good charcater arcs, interesting worldbuilding and solid story arcs. It’s capable of having emotional and dark moments without fully loosing the tone that was previously established.
While Season 1 is more episodic, i recommend watching all the episodes for the characters dynamics and development that becomes important in Season 2. Season 2 improves a lot in writing and direction. Most of the episodes are worth of watching since they add things to the characters or the overall story.
After finishing my rewatch, i think it has become one of my favourites Disney shows from that era. It’s not perfect, but it still manages to be an entertaining show.

I think a while back I saw you post that you’d check out All American homecoming if you got bored enough.
Did you ever get bored enough and if so what did you think about it? And what did you think about the half of the episode you watched by mistake?
I did end up watching a few episodes and I couldn't continue because -- and this isn't just a problem I have with homecoming -- I didn't find it organic, I didn't find that scenes really unfolded, I didn't really feel like I was watching these characters in their lives, it was just a lot explanatory dialogue and it all happened in hyper-speed. So, like, the premiere and the whole Cam/Keisha thing. I don't know if it was you, but an anon was like, start with season 2 because season 1 is rough and season 2 is better, so I did so I know I didn't go in with much context but everything happens so quickly with them Spencer is like you're not communicating with Keisha and it's going to blow up in your face so Cam immediately talks to Keisha like I lost my scholarship because I missed curfew because I chose to be with you and I didn't want you to feel like it was your fault, just this HUGE exposition dump and then Keisha immediately reacts badly and then the next scene we see her in she's complaining to Nate and she immediately tells her that she's acting ridiculous and does yet ANOTHER exposition dump and then then the next we see both Cam and Keisha in, they're doing more exposition dumps and reconciling. And I was like, I want to see them get to these realizations without exposition dumps, I want scenes to unfold in action, I want Keisha to see how hard Cam is working to keep things afloat and come to the realization that she's being unfair herself, I want Cam to see a situation where a lack of communication blows up in someone's face and realize he doesn't want to be in that position, like I want things to happen, I don't just want things to be said.
Which again, like Tootie and Simone, they're in the elevator and Simone is like you told the girls that I caused Simone's injury, you know what I would've liked, if the girls told her that or if she overheard something, like give me something in action.
And again, I haven't seen season 1 but when Damon is all "Simone, you're a natural leader, your coach has higher expectations for you" I'm like I'm three episodes deep and I haven't seen anything that supports her being a natural leader or supports that she has all of the qualities to make a queen. Is it just because she's good at tennis?
And then I was like, none of these people seem like they actually like each other, obviously there are actual rivals, like Simone and Thea who from what I saw both honestly have chips on their shoulders, but even the couples, I was like but do any of you actually want to be with each other because it does not seem like it, all I'm getting is dialogue, even these dinners it all feels very manufactured and isolated, there isn't the type of fluidity that comes with people who trust each other and like each other and view each other as family, you're just ... talking to each other and then do something here and there like wait outside for Keisha to do her audition because family! which again felt very manufactured to me because there isn't a consistent vibe of closeness.
In terms of the episode that I saw, which was the beginning of episode 3, I was interested in Nate and her story.

"Murphy is coming home to Avian Avenue!
Join us this Sunday, June 18th, at 11am at our Stars and Stripes habitat on Avian Avenue for Murphy’s homecoming! With his fostering duties complete and eaglet 126 moving on to flight school, Murphy will rejoin his roommates Siouxie, Boston, Mitch, and Lewis. Just like in the wild, eagle breeding season is coming to a close and Murphy is no longer interested in rocks or raising eaglets! He will be a top candidate for any future eaglets that need fostering in our hospital.
Eaglet 126 is still busy building up his flying strength by watching an adult eagle that knows how to fly. His release back into the wild will be announced soon! "

Have you been wondering what happened to Murphy's rock? Well, as far as Murphy knows, that rock hatched into 126. In actuality, we've made a commemorative shadow box with it, a footprint of both Murphy and 126, photos of 126's growth, our favorite photos of the pair, and some eagle feathers! The feathers are not Bald Eagle feathers, as possessing native bird feathers is illegal under the Migratory Bird Treaty. These feathers are instead from our non-native Tawny and Harpy Eagle ambassadors. The blue space in the middle is reserved for a photo from 126's release. You could be the lucky winner of this shadow box by entering our raffle!
We also have a second raffle prize! This beautiful American Flag afghan was hand-made by the cousin of 23-126's rescuer! To enter either raffle, donate $10+ through our website and put which raffle you'd like to be entered into in the comments on the donation form. For every $10 you donate, you get one raffle entry toward your choice of prize. So if you donate $20, you get 2 entries and can choose either 1 toward each prize, or 2 toward one prize. If you sign up to be a recurring donor, you'll be rewarded with double the number of entries of your yearly contribution! So if you sign up to donate $10/month, you'd be donating $120/year and get 24 entries instead of 12! Just be sure to put either "shadow box" or "flag afghan" in the comment section of the donation form.
Since the start of Murphy and 126's journey together, we've gained an astounding 131 new monthly supporters! Our goal for this raffle is to increase that to 200, as well as raise the $8,000 we need to replace our dying autoclave. As a thank you to those who have already recently become recurring donors, your support is still eligible for the double entries. Just email [email protected] with your prefered distribution of raffle entries. Enter today for your chance to win one of these one-of-a-kind items at https://www.worldbirdsanctuary.org/donate/
Raffle tickets are available through 7/7 and prize drawing will be done as soon as we have compiled all entries after 126’s release."

Show: All American: Homecoming Pairing: Lando Johnson & Simone Hicks
Summary: In which Simone and Lando are dating since the end of season 2. It's currently season 3, Simone is struggling with her diagnosis and breast cancer treatments and Lando does what he can to help her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"How're you feeling, baby?" Lando asked Simone as he helped her into her bed after radiation. Simone winced as she lifted her legs to get in bed and sit up against the headboard. Exhausted is how she felt but she was nothing if not strong, even when she didn't need to be. "I'm fine, Lando." Lando could see clearly through her and rolled his eyes. "No you're not. You don't have to put on a brave face for anyone, especially not me." Simone looked away and was quiet for a minute. Lando lightly brushed her fingers. "I just don't like being weak..." She breathed after another minute. A silence sat between the two of them as a tear rolled down Simone's cheek. It always amazed Lando how she could think leaning on others when she needed it made her weak. "You're not, baby. I know you feel like leaning on others makes you weak but it doesn't, in fact it makes you even stronger because you were able to reach out. You wouldn't say Kiesha was weak if she needed help, would you?" Simone lightly shook her head. "Exactly. It's the same for you, baby. We all got you, trust me." Simone looked fondly at her boyfriend, smiling tiredly. Maybe with Lando and the rest of her village in her corner she could take a load off, let people help her for a chance.
