Why have I not seen any of my white friends defending the news anchor yet but some of my black friends have strapped on their capes??? FYI: at the time I posted this she has not been fired, but petitions are being signed requesting that she be terminated... How many of you folks out there ever lost a job and when you met with the boss/HR you tried to explain your honest mistake? Did you die? Ok, well she will survive without YOU trying to explain to me how she said 'a' and not 'i' #nakers #knicks #knickerbockers #LA #24 #2020 #Alisonmorris https://ift.tt/2O2UuMW

When is a mistake just a mistake, and where is the line for it to merit punishment?
After hearing about Alison Morris, as a black individual, you can’t help but feel disrespected (even in the slightest of manner for the shortest of time). As a society, the individuals with the darker pigment when it comes to skin color have always been put down and still are through acts of microaggresion or blatant discrimination. I was not surprised when the uproar began after the incident posted above happened. For those of you who haven’t seen the video, Alison Morris is a MSNBC news anchor who on reporting on the death of Kobe Bryant “accidentally” spewed that he “was perfectly cast on the Los Angeles Knikers” (sounding like niggers to the world). Ms. Morris herself apologized for the mistake and states she read knakers (mix of Knicks and Lakers) on the teleprompter as she was reporting. I am divided on issue of whether she should be punished for doing such a thing on national television (whether it be a mistake or not) or consider the fact that one in their right mind wouldn’t do such a thing on national television and that it was an honest mistake. Everyone has their opinions, but whatever that may be, remember that it did sound like “niggers” ( is this a mistake done because of habitual repetition behind the camera?), she was on national television (why have we not even brought up the teleprompter, is this an out of sight out of mind situation?), and that she has never showed signs of conservative narrow-minded tendencies (Yale graduate democrat who has progressive views, seems like an honest mistake right?). Maybe we should understand allies and forgive mistakes? or maybe we need to punish anyone that dares to make such a mistake on national television; using the person as a scapegoat for all those uncaught in their wrong habits. I've made my choice, what will yours be?
