This week the common water plantain started to grow its branches for the flowers and we had our first damselfly appearance! There will be a lot more of them in the summer because there are many nymphs growing in the pondsy.
And yesterday a white water lily bud appeared on the surface, soon to blossom. First pics were taken tuesday and the last ones friday and it's incredible the growth speed of the water plantain branches!! Above there were three and below there are at least six.
Have a nice weekend from us
Score: pink waterlily 3, white waterlily 3.

Adding water to your outdoor space is one of the most important things you can do for wildlife. It is vital habitat for wetland wildlife like frogs and dragonflies. Creating a barrel pond is one of the easiest, most accessible ways to bring wildlife to your space as you only need a small bit of hard standing land. It’s also great for many species of garden plant, insect, bird and mammal.
We used lot of plants in this barrel pond to show variety. You don’t need to use that many – 3 plants would be absolutely fine for a barrel pond and allows more room for each to grow bigger. Try to pick one with flowing leaves for shade and cover, one with emerging vertical stems, and one with plenty of leaves under the water to oxygenate the water and provide habitat below the surface.
Here are some details of the native plants we have used:
Mare’s Tail, also known as bottle brush (Hippuris vulgaris) – evergreen and a good oxygenator. Can be planted at a range of depths in the pond.
Bog bean (Menyanthes trifoliata) – a shallow water marginal pond plant with starry white flowers in May and June. Cut back after flowering.
Lesser spearwort (Ranunculus flammula) - features spear-shaped leaves and pretty yellow flowers in summer. It can cause skin irritation, so wear gloves when handling.
Yellow flag iris (Iris pseudacorus) – an iconic yellow-flowered wetland plant great for damselfly and dragonfly nymphs to climb out from the pond onto, just before they transform into their adult form. Grows vigorously, so keep in the basket and be prepared to thin back when it gets established. Wear gloves to handle.
Common rush (Juncus effusus) – clumps of bright green vertical flowering stems with brown flowers.
Common water-plantain (Alisma plantago-aquatica) – has delicate pinkish white flowers, which tower above the leafy foliage.
Water Mint (Mentha aquatica) – aromatic minty leaves and nectar and pollen rich lilac flowers make this an appealing addition to a pond for humans and wildlife. Spreads easily, so cut back after flowering.
Water forget-me-not (Myosotis palustris) – sprays of small sky-blue flowers with yellow centres draw the eye above water but below the surface, newts may use the leave to wrap their eggs in!
Native water Lilly (Nyphaea alba) – floating leaves are the perfect landing and drinking places for insects such as bees, a great spot for a frog, and they shade the water beneath, discouraging algae bloom.

Review of Elizavecca's CER-100 Collagen Ceramide Coating Protein Treatment
Elizavecca is a brand that has 20+ years of history in making skin care products, they’ve expanded somewhat internationally. Their purpose is to create and develop different kinds of skin therapy in order to help make your skin healthy. Their CER-100 Collagen Ceramide Coating Protein Treatment is designed as a rich, deep repairing treatment mask for damaged, over-processed hair of all textures. Key ingredients include: 10ppm of ceramide NP (moisturizing, improves elasticity, aids hair growth, nourishing), 100ppm of hydrolyzed collagen (anti-aging, aids in collagen-production, aids hair growth, improves hair health), panthenol (hydrating, moisturizing, adds shine and gloss to hair, improves hair strength) and hydrolyzed wheat protein (maintains hair elasticity, prevents hair weakening, seals in moisture). This product retails for between $8-10 USD, you can get it here for $8.29 + free shipping.
Ingredients
Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Glycerin, Amodimethicone, Cyclopentasilxane, Citric Acid, Isopropyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate, Dimethicone, Trideceth-12, Panthenol, Fragrance, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caramel, Butylene Glycol, Cornus Officinalis Fruit Extract, Rehmannia Chinensis Root Extract, Dioscorea Japonica Root Extract, Alisma Plantago Aquatica (Common Water-Plantain) Extract, Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, Poria Cocos Extract, Ceramide NP (10mg), Alcohol, Hydrolyzed Silk, Hydrolyzed Collagen (100ppm), Gelatin, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Corn Protein, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Phenoxyethanol, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Apium Graveolens (Celery) Extract, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Brassica Rapa (Turnip) Leaf Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/leaf/stem Extract, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Caprylyl Glycol
To quickly note, I received this free from 0.8 Liter for my honest review, this post is not sponsored.
The treatment contains 100 ml (3.38 oz) and has a powdery, perfumey scent.
It comes in a plastic squeeze tube and it's easy to dispense.
The texture is creamy and smooth.
After using it and rinsing it out, it left my hair shiny and soft.
Recommended use is after shampooing, dry off with a towel and apply to whole damaged parts of your hair and gently massage in. Rinse out with tepid water after 5-10 minutes. After using, this hair treatment is very effective if you have dry and damaged hair. It instantly smoothes the hair and makes hair infinitely more manageable after it is applied, it's quite easy to comb through the hair with a wet brush or your fingers. The ingredients are all very nourishing and moisturizing and it gives the hair a nice shine without being greasy. Though it's best to avoid using oil afterward as it can leave hair looking greasy and kind of messy. There's also a pretty strong powdery, perfumed fragrance which isn't ideal if you're a fragrance-free type of person. I'd recommend this to people with dry and damaged hair.
What I like: the hair treatment works quickly and makes hair extremely smooth and easier to manage. The ingredients are nourishing and moisturizing and it really helps hair to shine and feel very soft. It's really great for dry hair. What I don't like: I personally like the fragrance, but it could be a no-no for other people.
Pros:
Moisturizing
Nourishing
Nice ingredients
Gives hair a lovely shine
Makes hair more manageable
Smooths hair well
Cons:
Fragrance
Would I buy this?
Yes
Rating: 10/10

Now it's raining but yesterday and this morning was sunny and so two flowers of the waterlilies blossomed!!
Yesterday: pink just open, white only poking out of the water
Today: pink fully open and white! not only completely out of the water but!! already opening!!! Would you look at that!
Next: the pondsy in the sun and another little flower growinggg alreadyyy
Bonus pics: soft hornwort with little waterlily leaves + hornwort and a snailsie + how big the leaves are becoming (I don't think they ever reached this size before)
All things going well, even if the spring repotting hasn't happened yet (next week, surely, as I've been telling myself for, uhm, A While. Life's been a bitch!!)
Also, it's basically invisible but I managed to capture one of the various lizards going around the pondsy! It's... there, on the rock in the middle, for only four seconds. Hey, better than nothing!
Seeing the plants growing and seeing all the flowers blossoming it's truly incredible and magical, makes me so emotional every time. And now a lot of birds go there too to drink even in winter time <3 not only the lizards and the bugs in the summer <3 I'm so glad I did this project, even if it's beyond my current physical capabilities 🥹
Happy may first to everyone! Until next time :) 🦎
Score: pink water lily 1, white waterlily 0

Great Water Plantain / Llantén Acuático
Alisma plantago-aquatica
In the former Soviet Union, the powdered, dried roots of this riverside plant was thought to be a cure for rabies, giving it the common name ‘mad-dog weed.’ It’s also used in Chinese medicine, where it is called ze xie, and prescribed for lowering blood pressure and blood sugar levels, as well as to treat fatty liver and nephritis. WARNING: do not consume this plant, especially its root, if you have hepatitis B, as it may have toxic effects on the liver.
The Cree took the dried stem base for heartburn, stomachache, cramps, constimation, stomach flu, and to prevent fainting during childbirth. The Iroquois took an infusion of the plant for ‘womb troubles’, used a leaf infusion as a ‘runner’s liniment’, chewed the raw root to strengthen the veins, and used the split root for lame back or kidneys. They also took a decoction of the plant or roots for consumption.
The roots are edible but often rather bitter and should be thoroughly boiled and roasted before eating. All aquatic plants should be cleaned and boiled thoroughly before eating to avoid ingestion of toxic aquatic pathogens. Its roots have also been smoked (as cigarettes and as incense) to promote relaxation.
An amulet may be made from the root to protect dogs. I associate it with the Sun, the god Mercurius, the element Water, and the astrological sign Taurus.
