it was actually pretty clear from the jump that beyond attraction alice didn't feel anything remotely romantic for gigi and gigi felt nothing for her either, she too only agreed to be in a poly triad so she could be close to nat. nat essentially fucked both women who cared for her over and ignored all signs that this wasn't going to work out of selfishness. it's fine if she found out she's poly but the way it happened was messy and hurt both alice and gigi
Ah so I answered some of the points that you made on this second ask on here, but since I have some additional space for screenshots, I can address some points.
1. alice didn't feel anything remotely romantic for gigi and gigi felt nothing for her either
Then I presume this is nothing as well, yes?

Yes, this is also how I look at the girlfriend of my ex-wife with whom I'm in a throuple and I feel absolutely nothing for and I was just pushed into and how said girlfriend also looks at me. (Kidding)
2. Nat didn't want to selfishly fuck them both over, she was as confused as they were, especially since Alice kept bringing this throuple up as a possibility and especially since (as she realized later), she is polyamorous. Doesn't mean she gaslighted either of them into being into a relationship with her, they both wanted it and they all agreed on it. Whether that relationship went well or not it is another matter, but she is not responsible over how Alice nor Gigi feel, and especially over not what either Alice or Gigi choose to communicate or not (particularly in regards to their feelings).
Point is: Buddy, you're making Nat a bigger deal and also much worse than she actually is. She is not some mastermind who tricked her ex-wife and current girlfriend into the situation they're in, and said characters are not some poor helpless women with no brains of their own (although i have to question's Alice's decisions) and also with 0 chemistry. I was actually really rooting for them, I think they could've succeeded if they communicated better and were more honest with each other (and if Alice and Gigi went out 1-on-1 more, but I think Nat could've maybe gotten a bit jealous too). It's just...a complicated situation. And all of them need to be more honest about their feelings but especially Alice, my god, that woman represses everything so much that it actually hurts. The amount of therapy...*shakes my head*
Anyway rant over. I will attach this post to the bigger, sort of meta post I made on them.

My thoughts on L Word: Generation Q - Episode 6:
SPOILERS AHEAD... READ AT YOUR OWN RISK 1. I literally squealed so hard when Bette opened the door and Tina was standing there. Tina is literally the missing puzzle piece that can take this show from being great to excellent because Bette (as a character) is just better when she is with/around Tina. They are truly a pair and I really, really hope the writers recognize this because it can give Bette’s storyline the spark that it needs.
2. While I was incredibly skeptical about Quiara after she sent Shane divorce papers, showed up at Shane’s house, slept with Shane, and then told Shane she was pregnant knowing that Shane did not want kids, after this week, their relationship is kind of growing on me. I’m not completely sold on them yet, but after this week’s episode, you can see that Quiara genuinely loves Shane and vice versa.
3. Don’t get me wrong... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jamie Clayton. I loved her on Sense8 and think she is one of the most talented actresses of this generation. That being said... I just am struggling to see how she fits in with this show. Yes, I know that she has this blossoming friendship with Finley and I suppose that can turn into an interesting story, with both of their issues with alcohol, but as of right now, I’m just struggling with Tess as a character and what her purpose is beyond running Shane’s bar.
4. Dani and Sophie. Oh boy. Like, don’t get me wrong, I am still 100% in their corner and want to see their relationship succeed and think that eventually, they will get their happy ending. I just think that there is going to be a lot of hurt before that happens. Sophie is understandably upset about the fact that Dani doesn’t open up to her, but she has also allowed Dani to NOT talk about this stuff for so long, that it is a little bit unrealistic to expect Dani to just change how she has always operated and start sharing. That being said, I do think that Dani will change... and unfortunately, it’s most likely going to take Sophie cheating on her with Finley for that to happen.
5. Alice and Gigi and Nat... ugh. These three have stolen my heart. I love them as a thruple. I love Nat and Gigi comforting Alice together at the restaurant. I love all three of them bickering in the car like an old married couple. I like the kids being okay with having the three of them in their life. I just love it all. That promo for next week though... ugh. I am really hoping that because the promo is making it out to look like Nat and Gigi doing something they shouldn’t (fucking without Alice) and Alice finding them, that it is not going to turn into the storyline of Alice being left in the dust. I’m kind of hoping that it will strengthen the thruple because that time that Gigi and Nat spent together allowed them to heal, or at least start to heal, whatever it is that was broken between them and has been causing all the arguing. That’s just my wishful thinking though because I absolutely love Alice and Gigi together.
Anyway... those are my thoughts for this week’s episode... definitely feel free to add your own or send me a DM if you want to talk about this episode more!

dude i'm sure alice will revise her thoughts on polyamory eventually but you can hardly blame her for not being for it when her first taste of being in a poly triad came in the form of her girlfriend and her ex wife basically pushing her into it after they had a drunken threesome. nat and gigi were literally confessing to still have feelings for each other and because she was afraid to lose nat, alice went along with being in a poly relationship
It's been so long since I saw anything in my inbox that it felt foreign. And it's been so long since I saw an actual proper Anon with a thought and a proposal for a 'debate' on a theme, I was shocked. So I would like to start with a thank you for the opportunity to discuss more on this. I will say that I was very excited to answer this and I thought about it all day.
Now, I have two type of answers for you. I will put them underneath a Read More because I will come with screenshots and heck, this rant is turning lengthier than I imagined it would.
But long story short, the message Alice is transmitting can have hurtful impacts AND actually the situation Alice is in was created by her own hand, nobody else's. She's not a poor helpless character that was pushed into a throuple by somebody else, she pushed it. She didn't 'go along with a poly relationship', she had a hand at creating it then refused to admit her own feelings in regards to it which just culminated in an explosion (which is a common occurrence for her. I do not believe that Alice and Nat are healthy for each other but that's a rant for another day). But basically, Alice has issues. I'm sorry if you're an Alice stan and I'm calling out your fave, but she's not as innocent as you make her out to be.
Ok so if you clicked on Read More, here you go. I said I have two reasons as to why I disagree with this ask and I will address them by length.
1 is subjective:
"i'm sure alice will revise her thoughts on polyamory eventually but you can hardly blame her..." -> Actually, I can blame her as much as I want, especially since it's a show and she's a character, and there's not a lot of representation for polyamory, and whatever there is villainizes polyamory and polyamorous people. It is really damaging to hear over and over "Polyamorous people are cheaters and bad people."
Nat: Monogamy is not for everyone.
Tumblr media
This is still a show. I don't owe any empathy to a character, even if I can have it. There are messages that are being sent, and this is one of them. Irrelevant of the fact that Nat comes out at the end of the episode as a poly person, this message is still sent and not refuted. I don't see anybody contradict these points. Also, I have not yet finished the second season, but I haven't truly seen any revising of her thoughts on polyamory, just her pretending that she's fine with it, not actually believing "polyamorous people are cool"
Now on a 2) more objective level, aka actually analyzing the show:
-> "her first taste of being in a poly triad came in the form of her girlfriend and her ex wife basically pushing her into it after they had a drunken threesome"
That is untrue.
Both in the drunken threesome and in the relationship that came afterwards, Alice is the one that initiated and pushed for them.
For the drunken threesome, she asked Nat if she's sure she doesn't want Gigi. She saw Nat looking at Gigi, commented that "She's really beautiful", Nat responded "You're beautiful" and then she asked her "Is there a part of you that still wants her? You can tell me. "to which Nat responded "I want you." They giggle, kiss and then Nat responded again "I want you...and her." and then Alice responding "Right?"
I would leave pictures but apparently I have a maximum of 10 pictures per post and I have more important moments to show.
Point is, everyone can interpret this scene however they wish; they can interpret it as Alice jealously checking if Nat was still into Gigi. But honestly I interpreted it as Alice wanting it as well and asking Nat over and over so she hears from her that she also wants Gigi and they should do a threesome.
So this was definitely something that she just went along to because Nat (and especially Gigi! the girl literally walked to them from the other side of the room after they had talked) talked them into.
Now, the actual throuple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Nat is telling Alice that they need to talk about last night, Alice says "Okay I had the best time last night" and Nat says "Oh. You did?"]
This scene comes right after Alice has a conversation with Nat in which they're vibing and getting along. But fine, someone might say, she only enjoyed the threesome, not the actual throuple.
Then what about this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(this is the Nat that is pushing Alice into a throuple, as it can be seen. Damn, I can't believe I'm jumping to Nat's defense, she's not exactly my favourite character either)
Tumblr media
And this is Alice that wants nothing to do with the throuple and is just forced by Nat and Gigi who are terribly in love with each other but can't admit it. (I do not think they are in love with each other either. Gigi perhaps has some reminiscence of it, but I think she was also just pretty cool about being in a throuple/threesome. Nowhere did she confess to still having feelings for Nat, it is only Alice's interpretation after they said that they figured out their relationship better and talked about some issues: They missed some things about each other and still had good sex but nowhere did they state they still were in love with each other.)
I would put more pictures but somehow Tumblr has gotten worse since last time I used it and won't let me add more than 10 pictures. But for what is worth, at the beginning I genuinely thought that they were going to go with a throuple direction, as there seemed to be work put in Gigi/Alice as well. And no, it is not only sexual attraction. They had quite a few conversations where they bonded, Nat actually got mad at Alice once "for being on Gigi's side" and they held hands when they were at Angie's recital together, where they went as a throuple.
So no, Anon, Alice is not some poor girlfriend forced into a throuple she doesn't like by her girlfriend, it's something she wanted to try. And I cannot and do not condemn her for it. The way I see it, more power to her, I think people should experiment, see what they like and dislike.
What I do condemn her for it is the total lack of perspective, self-awareness and understanding to know that just because it did not work out for her, it doesn't mean that all polyamorous people are bad people.
And if I have any empathy for Alice, it's for her complete inability to express her feelings, her constant pretending that she is fine when she is not. (And please let's not pretend she does it for Nat's sake or for the sake of "not losing Nat". She does it because she cannot handle her own emotions. She had no problem walking out on Nat after Nat had sex with Gigi without listening to Nat at all. Now, I am not saying that Alice was the only problem of the throuple. Certainly not, and there were a lot of boundaries that needed to be done and more clear communication was necessary. But I digress.)
Nobody can read your mind, people. Speak up your feelings. If you want things a certain way, say it. If you no longer want it a certain way, say it. And no, don't go with "this person should just know because they're my friend/partner/family/etc", that's just toxic expectations and only does harm and amplifies anxiety.
I hope this rant clears some things up. At least on how I see things.
Edit: Adding this post on here as well, since they are related and since there are some screenshots to expand some of my thoughts.
Edit 2: Anon has accused me of making them say things that they haven't said so I came and revised a couple of 'you's that were there for dramatic effect. Disclaimer for everyone that is reading that I am not particularly unbiased, I suppose, nor do I have much knowledge in media analysis - these are just my thoughts and I do am dramatic. (And I love that for me, life is a bit more fun when you're a little bit dramatic.) Anon did not say that Alice is a helpless innocent, nor other things that I have said, but they made her sound like that when they simply summarised the situation as "Nat wanted it, Alice and Gigi just went along because they loved her", when it is actually much more complicated than that. And just in case it wasn't clear, I will still be damn angry at Alice for what she said. :D
