don't blame the baby
parent!alexia putellas x wife!parent!reader (requested)
summary: what happens when the team sees an unfamiliar side to alexia?
Tumblr media
you’re sitting on the couch, phone propped up against the cushion as you chat away on facetime.
the screen is crowded with the smiling faces of the barcelona team, alexia’s teammates all laughing and sharing stories, their voices filling the room with energy. you’re enjoying catching up with them, teasing each other like old friends, when you hear soft breathing beside you—your eighteen month old daughter, isla, sound asleep, her tiny hand resting against your leg.
you gently smooth down her hair as you continue chatting, not wanting to wake her.
that’s when you hear the familiar sound of footsteps approaching, and your eyes flick up to see alexia coming into the room. your wife hasn’t realized you're on facetime. with her hair slightly tousled from training and her eyes tired but full of warmth, she walks over, making a beeline for you.
she drops onto the couch next to you, completely focused on you, not the phone. “my love,” she says in catalan, voice softening into the baby-like tone she only uses when she’s around you or isla. “i missed you so much today baby... i just want to cuddle up with you.”
you try to keep a straight face, but it’s too late—the entire team on the screen has gone silent, eyes wide with surprise, before bursting into laughter.
the noise causes alexia to jump back a bit, finally noticing the phone and the faces staring back at her.
“was that... alexia?!!” vicky teases, holding her stomach from laughing so hard, while kika shakes her head in disbelief.
“i’ve never seen her like this! we need to get this side of her on the field, y/n do you think you could play as a striker so alexia can soften up!” mapi jokes, still giggling.
alexia’s cheeks flush a deep red, realizing they heard everything.
“no, no, no, shut it! it wasn’t me,” she says quickly, trying to save face. she glances at you and then at isla, who's still peacefully asleep next to you, completely unaware of the chaos her mother’s causing.
“it was... it was isla!” alexia points at the baby, desperately trying to convince her teammates.
“she has the same voice as me, right? that was totally her!”
you let out a laugh, shaking your head.
“don’t blame it on the baby,” you say, giving her a playful nudge.
“she’s sleeping like an angel, and you know it.” alexia groans, burying her face in her hands as the teasing continues on the other side of the screen.
isla, cuddled up with her ivory soft blanket and a miffy plushie, smiles in her sleep at this moment. alexia tries not to laugh, wondering if her daughter could hear everything in her sleep.
“you’re so soft, ale,” martina says between fits of laughter, while esmee adds, “who knew our captain could be this clingy?”
alexia turns to you, eyes pleading, mouthing, “please help me,” but you can’t help the smirk on your face.
“hey, it’s okay to be soft sometimes,” you tease. “besides, i think they kind of like this side of you.”
alexia shakes her head, leaning closer to you as if to hide from the call.
“they’ll never let this go,” she mutters, sneaking a glance back at the screen, where her teammates are still cracking up.
“amor, please, just tell them it was the baby, please?” she whispers, giving you that look that always makes your heart melt.
but you’re too busy enjoying her squirm, shrugging as if you’re not sure how to help.
“sorry, but they seem to know the truth.” you lean your head against her shoulder, whispering,
“besides, they’re right—you’re kinda cute when you’re clingy.”
alexia lets out a defeated sigh, covering her face with her hands. “maybe they’ll forget,” she says, voice muffled and full of hope.
by the way the team is laughing, you both know this is something they’ll be teasing her about for a long, long time.

Alexia, “Can stop putting things where I can't reach?”, shared home
cough medicineII a.putellas
you'd heard your girlfriend as she rose, slipped out of bed and got ready to go for a run, alexia always up before the sun was which something you'd long given up arguing with her over.
in the early stages of your relationship with the catalonian woman you'd tried everything under the sun to get her to stay in bed with you before it arose, but no amount of kisses, sweet words or promises worked.
she would simply smile in amusement at your efforts, steal a quick kiss and gently wrench your hands off her body. often teasing that you could just come with her you'd just snicker and roll over, one final kiss pressed to the back of your neck before her dip in the bed was gone.
but what you hadn't expected was to be awoken only a half hour later by the sound of her returning, a wheezy cough echoing through the living room as you cracked an eye open tiredly unsure if you'd imagined it or not.
but when it happened again, a raspy string of curse words following you were quick to sit up and rub the sleep from the corner of your eyes, rising from bed and padding out to the kitchen.
you saw her right away hunched over the sink, back to you her muscles were rippling and tense but not in the way you knew was normal, her body heaving as she dry retched and another wheezy cough rang through the kitchen.
"ale?" you called out softly, not wanting to startle her as she glanced at you over her shoulder and your face softened seeing her bright red nose and glazed over eyes.
"estoy bien nena, go back to bed." her voice was croaky and cracked with each syllable as you frowned. "not unless you're coming with me amor, you're sick." you warned gently, knowing your girlfriend well enough that she wouldn't share your views.
"i am not sick. i just-" alexia huffed, though whatever she tried to say next was cut off with a sneeze so violent she nearly stumbled backwards from the shock of it. "you are sick alexia." you sighed, readying yourself for the argument you knew would come.
"i'm texting marta and paños, you're not training today." you decided, already headed back to the bedroom for your phone as you heard footsteps hurry after you. "ale!" you groaned as the blonde snatched the phone from your hand.
"por favor mi vida i am okay. i will have a shower, sleep for a couple of hours, take some medicine and go to training." alexia clasped her hands together, your phone held captive in between them as you gave her a look.
"go have a shower." you sighed, holding your hand out for your phone as your girlfriend relaxed a little and leaned in to kiss your cheek but you gently pushed her away. "hey!" alexia frowned, voice again cracking as you rolled your eyes.
"if you are sick, i don't need you to share that with me." you warned as alexia rolled her eyes but now you frowned as she slipped your phone into her pocket.
"just for...insurance." the midfielder grinned as you opened your mouth to argue but she darted off to the bathroom and you shook your head at the coughing fit which you heard follow.
"thirty years old my ass." you mumbled to yourself, tugging on a pair of her shorts and wandering out to the kitchen.
awhile later you heard alexia before you saw her, footsteps padding across the floorboards as she returned. "swallow these, drink this, go to sleep please." you handed her two cold and flu pills, a mug of lemon and honey tea and nodded behind her to the bedroom.
"qué es esto?" your girlfriend sniffed the mug and recoiled with a frown. "something for your throat. if you are so determined to train, at least let me try to best prepare you, vale?" you gently grabbed her face as her features softened and she nodded.
"bien. go to bed!" you stretched up on tippy toes to kiss her forehead making her smile, pointing her back to the bedroom as she swallowed the pills and grimaced a little.
"gracias princesa, venga!" she held her hand out expectantly to lead you back to bed with her as you shook your head.
"i have some work to do to prepare for this meeting later today ale, the earlier its done the more time i have to go through my presentation." you smiled at the huff she let out but begrudgingly headed off to the bedroom, knowing despite how different it was you had the same drive and work ethic about your job that she did for hers.
however despite that, you also know the pair of you had done a lot of work on self care both independently and together, helping one another change bad habits and sticking to your guns together on days when you struggled.
which is why you slipped into the bedroom once you knew alexia was asleep and turned off her alarms, slipping her phone into your pocket and using your own to message the captains that she was sick and wouldn't be in today to which they all agreed was best.
and when hours later alexia still hadn't surfaced you knew you made the right call, the girls body clearly needing the sleep and rest before it would seem the cold and flu pills wore off and you heard a violent coughing fit from the bedroom.
you hurried to her side, finding her bent over on the edge of the bed as you moved to rub her back, already feeling the heat radiating off of her as her temperature had clearly risen.
"oh baby." you sighed sympathetically, running a hand through her hair as she struggled to catch her breath. though things worsened when she glanced right intending to check her phone and noticed the time, shooting to her feet so fast it near knocked you off yours.
"my phone, my alarm it didn't go off! training started already i have to-" alexia began to panic as you placed hands on her chest and somewhat forcefully pushed her to sit back down on the bed. "no, i already called you in sick." you revealed, the girls eyes widened.
"amor! you had no right and no need to-" she attempted to tell you off however a wheeze had her sent right back into a coughing fit as her hand span and she doubled over again. you hurried to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge, just getting the cap off before placing it into your girlfriends waiting hand.
"vale, maybe i am a little under the weather." alexia finally admitted as you looked down at her with a small smile and a nod. "you are mi amor, and the more you fight it the longer it will take you to get better and the worse shape you are in closer to match day." you warned gently, alexia sighing deeply but making no move to argue.
"lay back down please baby, i'll be back in a minute." you pushed at her shoulders gently as the catalonian sighed again but did so, kicking at the covers so one leg was out making you smile as you left the room.
"alexia!" your girlfriend sat up at your call, tugging on a hoodie and wandering out to the kitchen, sniffling as she went. "where is the cough medicine? i bought more not that long ago and neither of us has been sick since." you asked with a raised eyebrow as the blonde shrugged, head covered by her hood.
"alexia." you spoke a little more sternly, knowing her too well as she avoided your eyeline and kicked mindlessly at the ground. "it grew legs and ran away?" the footballer tried with a charming smile, sniffling again and swallowing a cough as you crossed your arms unwavering.
"where is it mi amor?" you asked a little softer as alexia pulled a face. "that one." she pointed to the cupboard where you kept the bowls, moving a little closer as you rummaged through unable to find it.
"where?" you grunted in frustration, moving things around and still not seeing the bright red bottle. "higher." alexia admitted, finger moving upward to the very top shelf, somewhere she knew you'd not be able to find it when she'd hidden there.
"really?" you looked to her in disbelief as she tried to cover up a cough with her sleeve. "can you stop putting things where i can't reach?" you scoffed in annoyance, unable to grab it no matter how high you stretched.
"get it down." you pointed, crossing your arms as alexia moved a little closer but made no move to do as you asked. "you look so cute when you reach for things bebita." the captain rasped with another attempt at a charming smile which fell on deaf ears.
"it tastes bad." the girl huffed as you now cracked a smile. "you're being a child alexia, you won't get better unless you take it." you chuckled as she whined, hugging you tightly and slumping over so her chin rested on your shoulder.
"mi amor, i want you to get better. you are so good at taking care of others, but you need to take care of yourself too, sí?" you spoke softly, fingers raking through her hair as you pushed the hood off her head and felt her exhale into your own jumper, body heaving a little as she attempted to swallow a cough.
"you need it preciosa, please. for me?" you cooed, rubbing her back as the taller girl stood, sending you an annoyed pout but reaching behind you to grab down the bottle. you watched on as she filled the cap to the right dosage and looked at you as you nodded encouragingly and she downed it.
"not funny!" she croaked out as you smiled at the grimace of disgust which flashed across her face. "lo siento cariño, lets get you back to bed." you took her hand and lead her back to the bedroom, helping her into bed and smoothing her hair out, tenderly kissing her forehead.
"stay?" the girl asked softly, large hand grabbing your wrist with a pleading look as you softened. "of course, i just have to get my laptop so i can work on this presentation amor." you smiled as she let go and you darted off to grab it and returning to her side.
"your meeting." your girlfriend realised as worry briefly flashed across her face and you slipped into bed, moving a pillow against your back as you sat up and got comfortable against the headboard.
"i already spoke to my boss, i just need to finish the presentation and send it over with enough time for them to look at it before the meeting. its on zoom anyway so its fine if i don't attend." you promised, alexia hesitating but with a kiss of assurance again pressed to her forehead she settled, hugging your leg as her cheek pressed against the skin.
"i probably have an hour of work left and then i'm all yours." you promised as alexia hummed with a slight wheeze, and you assumed she'd drifted back to sleep, relieved when you didn't hear her cough again.
"princesa." you glanced down as hazel eyes looked up at you, your girlfriend rolling onto her back and moving one arm to drape across her forehead, having stripped off so she was only in sweatpants and a sports bra.
"there is one other thing that would make me feel better." she rasped as you gave her a curious look. "do you remember when i hurt my knee, and you bought the nurses outfit to make me smile and-" you didn't even let her finish her sentence before you flicked her ear and she whined.
"go to sleep alexia." you bit back a smile and turned back to your laptop, your girlfriends fingers tracing patterns on your leg. "is that a no? because i am so sick mi amor, so so sick." the blonde pouted, slight smirk behind her features as you shook your head.
"i repeat, go to sleep alexia."

Injured (Alexia's Version) IV
Alexia Putellas x Teen!Reader
Summary: You need perfection
TW: eating disorder, self-destructive thoughts, unhealthy thoughts about weight and size, self-harm through dance
Tumblr media
There's a reason the ballerina body is thought to be unobtainable.
It's because it is.
Even to the dancers.
Perfect feet. Perfect legs. Perfect waist. Perfect stomach. Perfect face and hair.
You didn't have the perfect feet. Your arch wasn't quite perfect. It was close but with the right shoes it looked perfect.
Your legs weren't quite perfect either. You think one of your knees bulges weirdly and one leg is the tiniest bit more muscular than the other. But that can be hidden under your tights.
You don't like your waist or your tummy. You're different to your Mami but you're built a bit like her. She's built like a football player where she doesn't need to care about her waist or her stomach like you did.
You could fix your face with makeup and your hair with product but you couldn't fix your biology. You couldn't fix the way you've developed.
When you were younger and still at ballet school, the older girls passed down one line of wisdom to the younger girls.
If you weren't thin enough to fit between the space of the barre and where it's mounted on the mirror, then you're too fat.
You know now that that's too small of a gap for anyone to fit through without tucking in their tummy to the extreme. You know that now but it's still embedded within you. It still haunts your every step, a looming figure in the shadows that will one day catch up with you.
Some of the other dancers smoke or vape to keep their figures but you took the more classic route.
It was easy to cut breakfast out. A protein bar sufficed as your lunch, maybe a pre-packaged salad as well. You would eat dinner because that was a family meal and, while you were desperately trying to keep your figure, you knew that eating at least one meal a day was good.
It worked like a charm though and soon your stomach shrunk to the point that having one meal a day was all you could stomach.
"Why are you still asleep?" Jaume asks as he throws himself onto your bed," It's nearly dinner."
You groan, poking your head out from your blanket cave. "I was napping. I'm allowed to nap."
You've been napping a lot lately but you're used to that. Whenever you start cutting out meals, you feel the need to nap more to conserve your energy.
"Mami told me to come get you," Jaume replies," Dinner's almost ready."
You pull the covers off before freezing.
"Jaume," You say," Are you wearing your dirty football boots? In my bed?"
He grins. "Yeah."
"Get out!"
"Oh, come on, it was just a joke!"
You smack him in the face with a pillow. "I'm telling Mami!"
He scrambles after you, trying to stop you from making it down the stairs.
"She's lying!" He cries out, skidding to the dinner table just as you arrive.
"Jaume wore his dirty football boots in my bed!" You announce and Alexia sighs.
"Just one day," She says wistfully to Olga," That's all I ask. Just one day of no arguments."
She scolds Jaume lightly over the meal and you pick at your food.
Alexia watches you out of the corner of her eye. This meal is your favourite but you're pecking at it like you're a pigeon.
"How was dance?" She asks.
You shrug, grateful for the opportunity to talk as you push the food around your plate. "Good. I'm going back in after dinner. I'm going to practice my solo."
Olga frowns just like Alexia. "You've been doing that all week. Don't you think you need a break?"
"It won't be for that long," You lie," I want to get it perfect."
Perfection has always been a big part of your life. If you have perfection then you've proven your worth. If you have perfection then you cannot be replaced.
If you perfection in your dancing, in your body, then everything will be good and right in the world.
If you have perfection then you'll never be forgotten again.
Alexia watches you, eyes narrowed before she starts helping Olga clear the table.
"Jaume," You hiss," You want this?" You offer him your plate.
He glanced over to where Olga and Alexia have their backs turned.
"Give."
You scrape the rest of your food onto his plate before getting up quickly.
"I'm heading to the studio," You say.
"I'll drive you," Alexia says.
"I'll walk." You're actually planning to jog. "I want to grab a snack from the store on the way."
There's a reason Mami hasn't found out yet. You've gone back and forth on this for years. Cutting out meals before a performance only to introduce them again a few weeks after. You know exactly how to play her.
It's easy to slip away just like it's easy to dance and dance and dance until your feet ache.
There's something about pointe work that you love. It's a hard discipline. Nobody outright loves it like you do. You don't think they'd understand why you love it.
You love it for the wrong reasons.
You love it because it makes your feet hurt. You love it because it makes you look good even when you're falling apart. You love it because it makes you feel perfect even when you know you're not.
You love it because it's the quickest way to make you bleed.
Your chest rises and falls as you feel your toe pads grow wet with your own blood. Your vision is full of spots and you can barely see yourself in the mirror.
All you can focus on is your next move and the pain in your feet.
All you can do is dance and dance and-
You're on the floor the next time you blink, feeling groggy as your stomach rumbles. You catch sight of yourself in the mirror as you crawl your way over to your bag, shakily unwrapping an energy bar.
You pull off your pointe shoes and toe pads.
This is so normal to you now that you don't even think about the fact that you just blacked out.
You eat your snack, drain down your sports drink and wrap plasters around your bleeding toes as you dial Mami's number.
She picks up quickly, like always. You can imagine her just sitting at home, waiting for your call.
"Bambi?" She asks as soon as she answers," What's up?"
"Can you come and pick me up?" You ask," I'd like to come home now."
Alexia's already grabbing her keys. Her shoes are already on. She's already out the door.
Something's up with you. She knows this. She just doesn't know what it is. But she knows she'll always be ready to pick you up. Always want to bring you home herself.
You look pale and shaky as she pulls up and, like usual after practice, your bare feet are out of your shoes. They're covered in plasters.
"Did you get your snack?" Alexia asks," You look a little pale."
"I did," You reply," I was just dancing a lot."
"Hmm," Alexia says," You know you can talk to me, right? You know you can tell me anything."
"I know," You say.
"Good. Just...Good. You're a good girl, bambi, and I want you to come to me if you need to talk, alright?"
"I know, Mami," You say with an eye roll.
Alexia holds your gaze for a moment before nodding. "Good. Now, your brother wants a milkshake. Do you want anything at the drive through?"
Your tummy rumbles.
"A meal then," Alexia decides before you can protest," A burger I think. Greasy."
You wince. "Mami-"
"You gave half your dinner to Jaume," She says suddenly," I'll split the meal but it's non-negotiable."
It's fine, you think.
So long as you get to practice early tomorrow, you can work it all off.

~~~~~~
There was a knock on the door.
"Mapi!" Alexia's voice was distinct, and the girl recognised it immediately. She knocked again. "Open the door!"
She looked over at the figure on the sofa, eyes closed, hand resting on the head of the little black cat.
She looked over at the door, where she knew her Ale was standing, waiting for the door to open.
She toddled over to the door, almost losing her balance as she stepped up onto the step by the door and unlocking the door, her hands immediately clinging onto the step's handle to stabilise her small body.
The door opened slowly, and the brunette looked confused for a moment before looking down at the unstable toddler.
"Isabel, mi chica!" Alexia's arms were strong and easily scooped the toddler up and onto her hip. "What are you doing at the door?"
"Hola, Ale!" She planted a sloppy kiss on the woman's cheek, wrapping her arms around her neck.
"Where is Mami?"
"Sleeping! Bagheera." She pointed over to where her mother was splayed across the sofa cushions, the black cat also snoozing away under Mapi's hand.
"Are you supposed to be napping, Isa?" Alexia's hand moved to the toddler's curly hair, stroking it back and out of her face.
"Not sleepy." She yawned into Alexia's neck, and the brunette woman chuckled.
"Not sleepy?" She moved to sit beside where Mapi was napping, beginning to repeatedly poke her leg.
"Is, stop, Mami is sleeping." The blonde murmured groggily, shifting as she stirred from her sleep.
Alexia chuckled, her hand retreating back into her lap.
"Time to wake up, Mapi."
The blonde's eyes opened slowly, her hand coming up to her face as she slowly figured out that it was Alexia sitting beside her.
"Ale? What are you doing here?"
The older Spaniard shook her head, looking back at the toddler in her arms.
"Your Mami is so silly sometimes, Isabel! So silly!" She tickled her sides, and the baby squealed in laughter, falling back onto Alexia. "You have to come in today, Jonatan asked me to check in on you because he didn't believe your excuse. We have media, and even if you don't want to be in it, you have to come and meet the new signings. It's time, Mapi."
Mapi groaned, pulling the pillow over the face.
"Why didn't he believe me? I am clearly sick!" She put her elbow in front of her mouth and coughed into it weakly, looking up at Alexia persuasively. Safe to say she was disappointed by her friend's exasperated eye roll and lack of sympathy.
"You're coming, Mapi. Go get ready and I'll fix up Is to take her too because I presume you haven't organised her Nanny to come?" Mapi shook her head, sighing lightly. "I'll get her ready."
"Ale, please. I really, really don't want to go. Surely it's not time yet?"
Alexia thought Mapi was going to break down on the spot right then and there, but as quickly as her facial expressions fell, they lifted back up again when the brunette placed her arm around her shoulder.
"It is, Mapi. You've spent too much time here, you need to get back into it. This one's 14 months now and you've done such a good job." She squeezed Isabel's sides, smiling down at her tiny frame. "But now you have to go back to your other job."
"I've done my training, I've gone to the gym. I just don't think I can start again, Alexia."
"So you want to quit?"
Mapi looked at her in shock, gasping quietly.
"What? No! I don't want to quit! I love football."
Alexia smiled softly.
"When better to go back for the first time on a media day, no pressure to perform, nothing. I know you've been training, that you are healthy and have a good level of fitness. What's stopping you from returning to the team environment?"
She sighed, staring straight ahead as her eyes filled with tears, willing them to go away. Adamant that she wouldn't let a single tear fall from her eyes.
"I'll come. But Ale, this won't be easy for me, you know that. If I want to leave, I want to be able to."
Alexia nodded, standing up from her spot on the couch.
"Of course, Mapi. I've told you before and I will tell you again, everything you do is at your own pace. Just give it a try, for me. Don't give up before we even get there. Maybe seeing everyone will give you that bit of motivation, you can't tell me it didn't help last time."
Mapi nodded, Alexia was right.
It's been two months since Mapi saw the rest of the team, right after Isabel's first birthday. It had been a long year of taking care of a tiny baby while also mourning the loss of her best friend.
The girls loved the baby, finally seeing the girl that they had sent countless gifts to, doting over the adorable one year old who had no idea what heartbreak her mother was going through.
But what had surprised Mapi was that most of her teammates were more worried about the defender than her child, hugging her tightly and telling her how much they missed her, loved her and were there for her.
Mapi had cried that night, the realisation that maybe people did care settling on her shoulders, guilt overwhelming her as she registered that she hadn't reached out to a single on of them in a year.
When she discussed this with Alexia a week later, the brunette had told her to stop being silly. They were a family, apparently. They would always be there for one another.
~~~~~~
Nerves settled deep in Mapi's stomach as she sat in the back of Alexia's car, staring out at the familiar roads as they drove to the training grounds. Isabel was content in her seat beside her as she babbling away at the streets, Alexia chuckling at her goddaughter.
When they arrived, Mapi was quick to unclip the baby, walking around to the opposite door to scoop her up into her arms and holding her close as they walked towards the entrance.
"They said we only have to be there for a couple hours, max. There's a bit of media, they thought it could be a good time to reintroduce you, assuming you want to come back this season. Then we have three new incomings, although one is Irene, who most of us obviously know. The other two are from Scandinavia. Fridolina Rolfo from Sweden and Ingrid Engen from Norway. Fridolina is an attacking midfielder and Ingrid is a central defensive midfielder, both from Wolfsburg..."
Alexia dove deep into an analysis of the two Wolfsburg players that Mapi easily zoned out of, instead focusing on what she was about to do.
It was weird, walking back into this place after such a long time. A place that used to be like home, she never thought twice about stepping through those doors.
But she could count on her hands the amount of times she had walked into the training campus in the past 18 months, simply preferring to get trained at a private gym or a private field, closer to home and further from the overwhelmingly familiar Barcelona grounds.
She was expecting to be heckled as soon as they entered, but only Jonatan was in the foyer and he quickly embraced her and pulled her into his office as Alexia turned left to the media room.
"She is adorable, Mapi."
Jonatan sat down on the sofa in his office, motioning for Mapi to follow him. Mapi smiled down at her baby who was happily fiddling with her toy lion.
"Thank you."
"Is this it? Are you ready to come back?"
Mapi shrugged lightly.
"I want to be, but I'm not sure, really. It has been a hard year and I don't know what to do with this one if I train every day, playing games every weekend. She is still only little."
Jonatan nods, hesitating before responding.
"Everything we do will be at your pace and you have all the support you need. We can find someone to watch her, she can come here or go to your place. We can do anything, you name it. We have all missed you a lot, and I think I speak for the whole team when I say we would be thrilled if you decided to start coming back, becoming fit again."
"I am fit. I have trained a lot, every day. I have rehabbed with the specialists, done their exercises every day, I've been in the gym every day, getting stronger, I go down to the local pitch at least four times a week with the trainer. My fitness is not the problem, it's just me. My brain, I think."
He nods again, understanding written all over his face.
"We have a psychologist if you want to see her. Apparently she is brilliant."
Mapi shrugs.
"I don't think she would be able to help me. I am just sad. Overwhelmed, maybe. A bit scared, sure. I have no trouble naming my emotions, I just am bad at dealing with them healthily."
It was the truth. Mapi knew what she was feeling but she had no idea how to make it better. Seeing a psychologist wouldn't take away her grief, her fear or her stress, so what was the point?
"I would recommend the psychologist, even if it's just for one session. Everyone who sees her loves her."
She shrugs again.
"I'll consider it."
They dive into the logistics of returning, as well as how they should tackle the inevitable media storm when she appears on the clubs social media again. Apparently, Alexia suggested just to put them in an interview together to preview the upcoming season. She told the club to not make any sort of deal about the return, in an attempt to make it as seamless as possible.
Their meeting finished with an agreement, and Jonatan wished the defender luck as she left, heading towards the media room where the rest of the team should be busy.
"Isabel!" Leila was the first person to notice the duo entering, dropping the paper she held and rushing over to hug Mapi.
"Y mi Maria. Ale said not to make a big deal out of it, but Mapi, I am so so so happy to see you here again."
She released Mapi from the hug, keeping her hands firmly on the defender's shoulders.
"I'm proud of you, and you should be proud of yourself too."
Mapi just smiled, setting Isabel down on the floor and watching carefully as she waddled over towards Alexia. She avoided eye contact to prevent herself from becoming emotional, instead flashing a quick smile at Leila, nodding softly.
"Thanks Leila. It's good to see you, sorry I haven't been the greatest friend recently." Her eyes remained glued to the back of her daughter's head, so she didn't see Leila's entire face and body soften.
"No, no. I should have tried harder. I can't imagine what you were going through."
Truthfully, the fullback and a lot of other teammates carried a substantial guilt over their shoulders, but there was nothing they could do about it anymore.
Not after Alexia had arrived to training raging 9 months ago, telling them they were awful friends, that Mapi was struggling and had received almost no support from any of them.
Just because Mapi asked to be left alone, doesn't mean she actually wanted to be left alone, Alexia had said.
They put in more effort after that, but the damage was done and Mapi still struggled to let anyone but Alexia in.
Isabel, on the other hand, was having a ball as her godmother carried her around the room, introducing her to different people.
"This is Patri and Pina, Isa, say hello!"
Isabel giggled, pointing at Patri.
"Patri!" Her hand moved to Pina. "Pina! Hola!" She waved, her hand floppy and a silly smile smacked on her face.
The three footballers smiled at her sincerity, Patri speaking up first.
"I know who you are! You are adorable, baby Leon, and you look just like your Mami."
Isabel beamed, turning to look up at Alexia.
"Mi Mami!"
"Yes, you look just like her, lion cub."
They remained stationed at Patri and Pina for a while, the young striker and her older friend entertaining the baby as she sat mesmerised by their rowdy and outgoing nature, their light banter was something she had rarely been exposed to.
Mapi on the other hand was shaking as she watched her daughter in Alexia's arms, entirely unable to concentrate on her. Her mind was consumed by the looming thought of her return. The overwhelmingly terrifying return.
She was returned to her mother's arms right before Alexia and Mapi had to go and do media, a soft kiss placed on her head before she was handed off to an excited Leila.
 The interview, while a good way to ease into it, would undoubtedly create an entire storm in the media and Mapi wasn't sure she wanted to see her life and decisions picked apart, analysed and judged by thousands of people who knew nothing about her and nothing about anything she had been through over the past 15 months.
Alexia's arm on her back was grounding, guiding her to the correct room and easing the overwhelming worry that surged through her, if only just a little bit.
"It will be over before you know it. And then you wait a few days, turn off your phone when it is released. You can slowly start coming back to training, and by the time we have to interact with fans, it will have calmed down. I will be right there through it all and so will everyone else in that room."
Mapi was surprised, however, when she sat down in front of the cameras and was briefed about the interview. She was expecting a serious video, previewing the season ahead. Instead, they were doing superlatives, something that Mapi didn't know if she was comfortable with.
Sure, she's played with this team for years and she knows them all well, but it has been a long time since she's actually played with them. What if things have changed? What if she embarrasses herself.
"And Mapi, we will release this video in a few days, and hopefully people will take the hint that we aren't making a big deal about your return."
A naive statement that made Mapi want to scoff, but she stopped herself and nodded politely instead.
But, she did the interview with Alexia, acting as if nothing was wrong and the midfielder couldn't believe that the person beside her was the same person that had practically looked green not 10 minutes ago.
"Hola! I am Mapi Leon and this is Alexia Putellas! Welcome to superlatives!"
~~~~~~
Completely oblivious to the stress her mother was going through, Isabel was placed in Mapi's cubby as the team got ready for training, completely occupied by the toy lion she was playing with.
"And who's that, Isabel?"
Leila sat down beside the toddler as soon as she was changed, her socks and boots in her hand as she looked at Isabel.
"Leon! My lion."
The defender chuckled, placing her hand on Isabel's head.
"And you like to play with your lion?"
She nodded, holding the toy out towards Leila, who grabbed it, imitating a lion sound to the child. Isabel squealed with laughter, copying the fullback by imitating a lion herself before pulling the toy back into her arms when Leila passed it over.
"Leon. Mi Leon." She cuddled the lion tightly before walking it across her leg and down to the floor."
Leila turns her attention away from the toddler to put her shoes and socks on and Isabel took the opportunity to slip down from the cubby, waddling through the changing room with Leila's watchful eye on her.
She spun around to look at the defender, quickly noticing her raised eyebrows and her playful stern expression. She brought her hand up to her mouth, looking directly at Leila as she giggled mischievously, too distracted to look at where she was going until she bumped right into a pair of legs.
She spun around immediately, looking up and down at the unfamiliar woman and gave her a smile after assessing that she looked nice enough, brandishing out the lion toy that she was holding.
The brunette knelt down to her level, smiling softly.
"Hola!"
Isabel smiled, bringing the toy back towards her.
"Hola!" She giggled, smiling giddily at the tall woman.
"What's your name?"
"Isabel!" She shook her lion "Leon, mi leon." She reached out her arms and the Norwegian understood it as a prompt to pick her up, so she scooped the child up into her arms, standing up and walking back towards Leila.
"My name is Ingrid. It's very nice to meet you!"
Isabel nodded sweetly, pointing over at Leila.
"Is Leila!" She then pointed over to Patri, then Pina. "Y Patri, y pina. Jenni!"
Ingrid laughed quietly as the child in her arms pointed around the room naming people, but moved over to where Leila was sat, handing over the child.
"Hola. You are Ingrid?" The fullback smiled politely as Ingrid nodded. "It's good to have you here, welcome to Barca."
The Norwegian smiled. "I am very happy to be here."
The door opened as Leila was about to respond, but Isabel's head whipped around at the sound of her mother's voice, jumping up in the fullback's lap.
"Mami!"
Mapi strode across the changing room, picking Isabel up with one arm and bouncing her on her hip.
"Hola, mi Is." She planted a kiss on her daughter's temple as she laughed, pointing over to Ingrid.
"Ingrid!"
"Who?" Mapi followed her daughter's hand, spotting the retreating Norwegian figure. Her hair was thick, Mapi noticed, rich and abundant in the way it fell easily down past her shoulders but the centre back was sure that hair so gorgeous was anything but easy to maintain.
"Did you meet her?"
Isabel nodded, a smile still on her face. "Held me!"
"She held you?"
Isabel nodded enthusiastically right as Ingrid turned around, immediately making eye contact with the spanish mother. Mapi was sure that if she didn't have a baby in her arms she would have gone weak at the knees and maybe fallen to the floor.
Because the first thing she noticed were the piercing green eyes staring right back into her own, and the way they sparkled as soon as her mouth shot up into a large smile.
Ingrid, the new signing, was possibly the most gorgeous person Mapi had ever laid her eyes on.
Mapi could only smile back as she tried her best to memorise every detail of the Norwegian's face as if she would never see it again, so consumed in her thoughts that she didn't realise that the brunette had been moving closer and closer until she was right in front of her.
"Is she yours?"
Mapi could only nod, her voice had somehow run away. Ingrid smiled once more at the confirmation and Mapi inhaled slowly, trying to subtly inhale as much of the midfielder's scent as she could.
"She's adorable, I mean, she looks just like you, really."
Mapi nodded again, hitting herself internally for not being able to form a coherent sentence.
"I'm Ingrid, I've just signed. From Norway. I play for Wolfsburg." She grimaced. "I mean, I play for Norway. I have signed from Wolfsburg."
Suddenly, Mapi wishes she had paid more attention to Alexia's analysis of their new signings as hey were walking in earlier. Maybe she would have been to prepare herself.
"I'm Mapi, it's nice to meet you."
It was a small win, but the sentence was coherent and Mapi was happy. She adjusted Isabel on her hip in order to reach out and shake Ingrid's hand, and the Norwegian smiled and took it.
Later, when Alexia would tease Mapi about her obvious crush, the centre back would argue that she was being professional, and use the awkward hand shake as proof.
Ingrid and Mapi stood silently for a moment, the baby becoming increasingly more confused as silence settled upon them, just looking at each other mid hand shake.
"Mami!"
They were successfully broken out of the small trance, their eyes both immediately whipping towards the small child.
"I think I better go." Mapi smiled somewhat apologetically, although she wasn't sure why she felt that small bit of guilt. "I think she missed her nap this morning which means there will be tears in just under an hour so I want to get her to sleep as soon as possible."
"You're not staying for training?"
The Norwegian seemed confused, although she was aware that the talented centre back had missed a season and a half of football. The reason was unclear to fans and the general public, but had become abundantly clear to Ingrid almost immediately.
Mapi sighed thoughtfully.
"Soon. I will be back, I mean. Just not today. Hence the no training kit."
Ingrid nodded, the smile back on her face.
"I look forward to it. It was nice to meet you!"
"Yeah, yeah. Nice to meet you too. I'll see you soon."
"Bye, Mapi."
It was silent as Alexia and Mapi walked back out to the car. It was like a switch had flicked in Isabel as soon as they left as well, suddenly exhausted in her mother's arms. She was practically asleep when Mapi clipped her into her seat and the two adults were sure she was fast asleep by the time they were on the road.
"So." Alexia started, a small smirk on her face. Mapi knew exactly where this was going. "Ingrid Engen, huh?"
Mapi rolled her eyes, staring out the window.
"Ale, please. No."
The brunette shrugged, an amused look on her face as she briefly turned to look at Mapi.
"I'm just saying. I haven't seen you like that around someone in almost two years."
"Having a child changes you."
It was true. Mapi hadn't seen anyone since she was about two months pregnant. She found it too difficult to explain, sometimes questioning her decisions herself.
It was a tough decision, choosing to be a surrogate for her best friend, especially as it put her career to the side for an extended period of time. But Luis was a born father, as was his wife, Isabel, had too many health issues to count. The news that she would never be able to carry a baby came with devastation. The news that she couldn't even produce an egg came with heartbreak.
It was Mapi who offered to be a surrogate for them, her heart slowly ripping apart every time she picked up the phone to a crying Luis as he wished and prayed that he could become a father, wanting it more than anything else.
Initially, they had refused, telling her that she should focus on herself, that she should focus on her career. It had taken a few months to convince them, and by the time they agreed, Mapi knew it was the right decision.
The first two trimesters were easy. She was carrying a small baby, the bump barely visible which made keeping it a secret incredibly easy. She stopped playing games in the middle of the second trimester, and stopped training at the end of it. There was little to no news about her from the club, and fans were left confused when she stopped appearing on the matchday squad list and later as she stopped appearing on their social media altogether.
To this day, the fans were still confused, because it has almost been two years since their fierce defender was seen in any Barcelona coverage, and she was seldom mentioned in their press.
In the third trimester, Luis and Isabel went on a road trip to Madrid, visiting family.
Two hours after saying goodbye to them, Mapi got the call that there had been an accident. They had both died on the scene and Mapi was left distraught, the baby in her belly only a reminder of the couple that she loved so much, that she would have done anything for. That she did do anything for.
She gave birth a month later, alone in the delivery room as her parents and Alexia stood outside anxiously, concerned for the once boisterous footballer who had barely said three sentences since her best friend died.
"Isabel Luisa." She was decisive as they entered, her eyes red as she cradled the newborn in her arms as her own mother rushed to her side, Alexia standing at the end of the bed.
"I don't know yet whether I will give her my last name or theirs, but she is having their first names. Technically."
Pilar had burst into tears, her hand latching onto her daughters arm and it was clear to Alexia that Mapi was fighting back tears also.
"I have to be strong for her, Ale. She needs a strong Mami."
Alexia softened at her friend's whispered words, nodding quickly before replying.
"She has the strongest Mami. You will be good for her, Maria. And she will be good for you."
The whole thing was too difficult to explain to potential hookups or girlfriends when she was pregnant, and once she was born, Isabel made a great excuse to never go out when Alexia asked.
Besides, Mapi didn't want to date. She had her hands full with the baby and her other focus was completely on becoming fit again and at some point returning to the game she loves so much. There was no time for a girlfriend on top of that.
"I'm just saying, she felt the same way. It was obvious." Alexia shrugged, not realising that her words would send Mapi into an unhealthy spiral of guilt and concern.
When the centre back didn't respond, Alexia took it as a cue to change the topic of conversation, so she moved back to the topic of football, something that she could ramble about for hours and Mapi could block out easily.
"Are you going back to training after this?"
Mapi interrupted Alexia mid-sentence, clearly not listening to what she was saying at all.
Alexia nodded. "I have to. I'll make it for the last three hours hopefully. Why?"
Mapi shrugged.
"I think I want to start back tomorrow."
Alexia's head whipped over to Mapi, slamming on her breaks after almost whipping the car 90 degrees to the right with the sheer force that her entire body moved to face her friend.
"Tomorrow?"
"Ale! Be careful!"
They both yelled at the same time and Isabel woke up with a start, calling out for Mapi, who sighed deeply, running her hands over her face.
"Tomorrow, yes." She spoke quietly, her voice a whisper. "I don't know. I have to try at some point and it seems like a good time, in pre season. Do you not think so?"
"No, no. I think that is a great idea. Everyone will be thrilled. Hell, I'm over the moon!" Alexia smiled, pulling over outside the entrance to Mapi's apartment. "I'm proud of you, Mapi. I really am. You should be proud of yourself too."
She leant over the centre console, pulling Mapi into a hug and wiping away her friend's tears when she released her and saw her eyes shining.
"Luis would be proud too. And so very grateful."
Mapi sniffed, shaking her head.
"Thanks, Ale. I love you. Thanks for dropping me home and... thanks for everything you've done for me. For us."
"You're my best friend, Maria. No need to thank me."
Mapi smiled, stepping out of the car and closing the door behind her before stepping to the back door and unclipping Isabel from the seat.
"Mami," Isabel whined, clinging tightly to Mapi's neck as she waved goodbye to Alexia's retreating car and moved towards the front door.
"I think it's nap time for you, my Is."
The End Of The World
Alexia isn’t well post-breakup
Alexia Putellas x reader
Tumblr media
masterlist
Warnings: angst, mutual breakup, yearning and heartbroken alexia, no happy ending
A/N: listen to the song for max effect! ‘right where you left me’ is another good one that fits this story. this is only a short fic, but i hope you enjoy :)
You and Alexia breaking up was for the best. She knows that.
Her career is demanding, and you just weren’t willing to pursue that lifestyle yet; it was glamorous, being the girlfriend of a professional footballer, but it also meant there were rarely any opportunities to spend quality time with her and that wasn’t the relationship you wanted. She understands that.
So why does it hurt worse than ending on bad terms? Actually, that’s a stupid question. Alexia knows why it hurts. If she had a reason to hate you, it would be easier to move on, but she cannot think of a single thing worth hating you for.
That’s what she hates the most — the lack of cruelty, toxicity, infidelity behind the breakup. There isn’t a single proper reason for her to stop yearning for you.
The first week after the breakup, she finds herself seeking out any signs of you wherever she could. It hurts, and she doesn’t have an excuse or a reason. She swore that your perfume lingered in the air, following her, taunting her. Whenever someone walks past, she notices; everyone smells like oranges, earth, and incense. Everyone smells like you.
On every street, there is something of yours. A mural you posed in front of for a photo, a flower bush you once pointed out on a walk because the budding flora stood out to you, a restaurant you introduced Alexia to without knowing it would quickly become her favourite. She sees apparitions of you in places that you would’ve been in right now, if you were still here. Still with her. Still part of her life.
Everything seems pointless and from the moment you declare the love story of her life to be over, Alexia thinks that everything should cease to exist. Why does the sun shine through the gaps in her curtains, when you aren’t laying beside her in the mornings to compliment it? Why does her heart continue to beat, when it cannot be listened to on sleepless nights, with your head on her chest?
Nobody works up the courage to ask her what’s wrong when she walks into the gym with dull under eyes and little to no energy in her movements. Alexia’s signature enthusiasm to be in the gym and improving herself is gone, and her teammates only look on with inconclusive questions as to why their captain is so… different. She watches them go on with their lives like nothing ever happened, and she’s so offended and bitter. They’re completely unaware that the end is here, at least for Alexia. The world has been at its inevitable end for longer than they know — the world ended when you stopped loving her.
Alexia isn’t one for letters, so it’s incredible that she finds herself sitting at her dining table, hunched over at an ungodly hour, scrawling words in her best handwriting onto a piece of paper.
She seals it in an envelope, running her thumb along the smooth surface for a second. She still knows your address by heart, and despite your house being much like a prison for her in terms of trying to avoid it at all costs, she finds herself navigating streets and turning corners to end up there.
Alexia passes a bookstore, and in the short moment she stands in front of it, she recalls standing in between aisles with you while you chose a book to buy. Clothing shops line the roads, and she can point out shirts in their windows that you own. A restaurant sits on the corner of the street, and she can point out the table you two had eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner at…
But she can point something else out — you.
You’re there, in the window, sitting at the table in the same seat you always chose. It makes her wonder if those memories were lost on you. Magazine in one hand, tea in the other. She knows it’s tea, because you hate coffee.
Alexia becomes acutely aware of the letter in her hand, and her plans have changed.
When a waitress comes up to your table with a little white envelope in hand, explaining that someone had just come into the restaurant and asked her to give it to you, you’re confused. When you unfold the letter and read it, whatever you’re feeling is inexplicable.
‘Mi querido,
I probably shouldn’t be calling you ‘mi querido’, or writing this letter in the first place, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to live with myself if I don’t tell you how much I love you one more time. I cannot imagine a life where being happy and being without you are able to coexist. If I knew that my career would’ve been the end of us, I would’ve traded my first love for my forever love, in a heartbeat.
Sincerely yours…
Your head lifts and you crane to look out of the window. Streaks of blonde hair disappear down the street, further than you can see from your seat.
…Alexia.’
-----
“I-” You interrupted yourself, pressing a gentle kiss to Leila’s lips. “-Am so proud of you.”
She grinned bashfully back at you, a rare show of shyness that few got to enjoy. “How proud?”
“So proud, Lei. You were incredible. I couldn’t take my eyes off you.”
“Proud enough for a reward?”
You threw your head back and laughed at the hopeful expression on her face.
“Definitely.”
Leaning in eagerly, you sank into the kiss your girlfriend pressed to your lips. It only lasted a second, though. Leila’s arms kept you tightly held against her, even when you tried to pull away at the light knock at the door. You broke the kiss, but Leila just shifted, attaching her lips to your pulse point.
“Lei?”
“Hmm?” Leila hummed. You could feel the grin on her face, and you were pretty sure you knew the answer to the question you were about to ask.
“Who is at the door?”
Leila pulled back, ignoring the second knock at the door, this one harder and somehow more aggressive. “My reward.” She told you, smiling mischievously as you raised an eyebrow.
“You… arranged your own reward?” Your lip twitched as Leila refused to look embarrassed.
“Sí!” Leila said happily, giving you a gentle shove in the direction of the door. With a roll of your eyes, one that was really just for show, you padded over to the door and looked through the peephole. On the other side, Jenni was holding Alexia’s wrist with an amused smile. The blonde looked to be trying to convince her girlfriend to let her knock again.
Fighting a smile of your own, you unlocked the door and swung it open.
“Hi, cari.” Jenni greeted easily. Next to her, Alexia remained silent, but the small curve of her lips at the sight of you had you fighting a smile of your own. You stepped to the side to allow the two women in, Jenni walking right past to head for your girlfriend. Alexia stopped next to you, though, looking hesitantly at your hand for a minute, before taking it in hers and tugging you further into the room.
“There she is. Ready to celebrate, Lei?" Jenni teased, flopping onto the bed next to your girlfriend, who seemed to be too excited to sit still. "I think you deserve something special for your first game back."
"You scored." Leila pointed out, but her bright grin gave away her delight.
"Jenni always scores." Alexia hummed with an unmistakable note of pride. "And she's always well rewarded for it."
Alexia shifted from your side and took a seat on the other side of Leila. You were left standing while all three women sat on the bed, but you didn’t mind watching them converse. Alexia made it clear that you were still on her mind when she addressed Leila, but spoke English.
“So we can start with you. What do you want your prize to be?” She husked.
“You can have whatever you want, Lei. I am sure you brought plenty of toys.” Jenni added.
Leila nodded, looking between the two Spaniards on each side of her. Until this point, you weren’t quite sure where you fit into this. When Leila looked up at you, a twinkle in her eye, you were suddenly very sure where this was going.
“I want you to fuck her.” She said nonchalantly, nodding her head in your direction. Jenni grinned, pulling the other brunette in until their lips met. Alexia turned to you instantly, confusion radiating off her. Even as she reached towards you, standing and pulling you closer by the hem of your shirt, she looked at Leila like she’d grown a third head.
“For your reward… you want us to fuck your girlfriend? In front of you?”
Leila tilted her neck to the side, allowing Jenni to begin to leave faint marks on her tan skin. “Sí.” She grinned, looking at Alexia expectantly.
“That is what you want?” Alexia asked again. She grabbed at your shirt before you could move any closer to her, dragging it up and over your head, even as her attention was still fixed on your girlfriend.
Leila giggled, and Jenni pulled away from her neck with a smirk on her face. She was highly amused at how Alexia was baffled at Leila’s willingness to share you, whilst simultaneously wasting no time in pawing at your bra. “What, Ale, do you want her to change her mind? Take your toy away from you?”
At her girlfriend’s words, the blonde frowned. “No,” Alexia all but growled, seemingly looking to prove a point when she turned you both around, and pushed you onto the bed. She was on top of you within a second, and you let out a surprised huff at the sudden movement, raising your eyebrows at Alexia as she settled over you. Her hazel eyes were suddenly just inches from yours, pupils dilated and jaw clenched tightly as she regarded you. Then, her expression softened, just barely.
“Vale?” She asked, waiting until you nodded to press her body down, her lips capturing yours in what you had come to know as a very Alexia kiss. Once Alexia got started, she didn’t stop. Even when she began running her hand over your bare abdomen, her kisses were demanding. Her mouth moved in sync with yours, anticipating your every move. Before you could part your lips and press your tongue into her mouth, she beat you to it. Before you could let out the content noise building inside of you, Alexia was exhaling harshly into your mouth. Kissing Alexia didn’t give you any space to think about anything but kissing her back.
You barely heard Jenni clear her throat from next to you, but you did hear the annoyed grunt Alexia let out.
“Ale,” Jenni called.
“¿Qué quieres?” Alexia snapped, refusing to look at her girlfriend, instead moving her lips to trail down your neck and chest.
“Oye. Leila said she wanted us to fuck her.”
“So fuck her?” Alexia asked impatiently, giving her girlfriend an exasperated look.
Jenni considered for a moment, before taking advantage of Alexia’s slightly off balance position over you. It only took a single gentle push from Jenni for Alexia to roll off of you with a small gasp. The brunette pulled you closer, and away from Alexia, craning her neck down so she could kiss you.
You wondered how much time would need to pass before kissing Jenni felt unfamiliar. You’d gone years before, and more recently a few weeks without kissing her, but it still felt like the most natural thing in the world.
You were rapidly pulled out of that more sentimental thought by Alexia gripping your chin and yanking your face towards hers. You leaned your head away instinctually at the harsh action, a bit startled at the contrast between Jenni’s gentle and Alexia’s rough. You weren’t sure what your hesitance was, but luckily Jenni gave you a moment to think.
A hand on Alexia’s chest stopped her from moving in again. “What now?” She groaned.
“Give her a second to catch up, Ale,” Jenni said. Her tone was both comforting and a tad  condescending.
“I do not remember her needing a second last time.” Alexia grumbled, raising a single eyebrow at you.
At the mention of last time, you flushed bright red. It was one thing to be between them again, and entirely another to remember the last time it had happened. To suddenly be sent spiralling, full force, into memories of that night. Those hours spent with Alexia, Jenni, and your girlfriend had served as an overwhelmingly hot distraction since. You thought about it in the car on the way to training, in the shower when your mind wandered. You even thought about it when you were with Leila, but seeing as though she was often the one to bring it up, you didn’t feel too guilty about that. A deep breath, in and out. Then, you forced yourself to relax into Jenni’s arms and looked expectantly at Alexia.
“Get on with it, Putellas.” You said impatiently, refusing to give in to the midfielder’s blazing gaze. Leila chuckled from where she sat on the edge of the bed, smugly grinning at Alexia. The blonde’s gaze flickered to her for a second, then back to your lips.
Alexia licked into your mouth, hot, wet and demanding. The hand on your jaw slid down until it cuffed your neck. You could feel Jenni’s hand wandering over the swaths of bare skin, then teasing at the waistband of your sweats.
Groaning into her girlfriend’s mouth, your own palm found Jenni’s bicep. Your legs squeezed together at the tense of her muscles, shifting against the sheets to feel the heat of them both.
“Needy.” Jenni accused as your hips squirmed when she stroked over them.
You were quick to pull away from Alexia, twisting to the striker. “More, Jen.”
Jenni chuckled, lifting her hand to press your stray hairs behind your ear. “Oh, you think you're in charge now?”
Alexia ducked down to kiss at your neck, shifting her hand only a fraction to give herself some space. You could feel her move, kneeling on the bed at your side.
“Just-” You squeaked as Alexia unceremoniously groped at your covered chest.
“Just?” Jenni sang, reaching her hand down to pull at the drawstrings of your pants. “Just let us play. Take what we give you and maybe we’ll let you come.”
Alexia pulled at the cups of your bra, exposing both breasts to the cool of the A/C at the same time. The shock was short lived. Half a second, then her hot mouth covered one.
Gasping, your hand cradled her head to hold her against you. Her tongue swirled around your nipple, feeling it harden with every pointed flick. With the speed of someone who had down this many times, Alexia unclipped your bra with one hand, sliding it away. Her mouth never left your body.
You hardly registered Jenni slipping off the bed to stand. Her fingers made quick work of the knot and before you could so much as whine, she pulled the sweats down your legs.
You could already feel the wetness between them, but if it wasn’t crystal clear, Jenni made it so when she pressed your thighs open. She let out a breathy groan before bending between them to mouth at the tender skin.
A sharp bite to your nipple made you jolt. Jenni’s fingers dug in, holding your legs open as your back arched.
“Again.” The striker demanded.
Alexia switched sides instantly, gently grazing her teeth over your breast before sucking at the peak. She waited until your nipple was hard and sensitive before biting down.
“Fuck!” You whined as your eyes tried to focus on the swirls of the hotel room ceiling.
Then came Jenni’s thumb, stroking up and down your underwear to let you feel how wet you’d grown. Just a few seconds, then the heat of her mouth kissing at the fabric. Your hips bucked against her at the tease.
Jenni hummed back, pecking at your thighs once more. “Ale. Get behind and spread her for me.” You could feel her hot breath between your legs before her fingers hooked on the waistband of your underwear.
As you helped - squeezing your legs together enough for Jenni to pull the fabric away - Alexia shifted. Strong hands pushed and pulled, manhandling your body until your back pressed against her t-shirt. A peck to your neck, then her hands slid to your inner thighs and spread them wide.
“How does she look?” Alexia asked as your head dropped back onto her shoulder.
“So pretty for us.” Jenni hummed. “And so wet. Can you see how wet she is, Lei?”
You forced your eyes open, scanning the room until you found your girlfriend, comfortably reclined in the armchair in the corner of the room. You recalled the chair being in a different spot yesterday; Leila must have moved it earlier to give herself a better view.
Your girlfriend didn’t have her signature smile on her face. Instead, she frowned slightly at Jenni, her forehead creasing in what you knew to be faux concern. “I can see.” Leila sighed. “I get her wetter.”
There was no jealousy behind your girlfriend's words. Just some playful disappointment, and a hint of a challenge. And while you knew if the comment had been directed at Alexia, she would have let her competitiveness take over, Jenni did not.
“It is more fun to take it slow. Make her beg for us. Right Ale?”
Alexia hummed in response, one of her hands sliding up your midsection to pinch at one of your nipples.
“You think I don’t make her beg?” Leila laughed.
Jenni pulled away, turning her neck slightly to reply to Leila, but you had lost your patience. You grabbed the back of her head and attempted to bring her closer to your core. Jenni froze, showing an enormous amount of neck strength as she fixed her gaze on your face.
Her hazel eyes stared into yours as she cocked an eyebrow, daring you to keep testing her. You waited a beat before begrudgingly pulling your hand away from Jenni’s head.
“She just needs to look at you, bebé? And you’ll do whatever she wants?” Leila teased.
Cheeks turning red, you shut your eyes and relaxed back into Alexia while you flipped your girlfriend off. You felt the blonde behind you smile into your neck, returning her hand to your leg to keep them spread wide.
 Jenni worked with a renewed passion, now, showing that she definitely had taken Leila’s comment to heart. Her tongue moved expertly. It didn’t matter how many times Jenni went down on you, it would always be shockingly good.
“Tell me how Jenni’s mouth feels.” Alexia demanded. Her voice was quiet but her tone left no room for negotiation.
“Good,” you breathed. You knew it wouldn’t be enough when Alexia’s hands tightened their grip on your thighs.
“More. I have heard I am supposed to work on my English.”
You struggled to force your mind to focus, especially as Jenni’s tongue quickened its strokes over your clit. Your hips rolled against her, picking up her fast rhythm as much as they could with Alexia holding you open.
“She feels… her mouth is hot.” You sighed, not entirely sure you were making much sense.
“Hot.” Alexia repeated. “What else?”
“She’s- I’m close,” you groaned, shivering at the harsh licks. “I’m really close.”
“Sí? Are you going to come all over Jenni’s face?” Alexia cooed. Her tone was mocking and it shouldn’t have pushed you towards the edge the way it did.
“Yeah,” you managed, your back arching slightly off of Alexia’s body. You were so close, just needing a hint more pressure from Jenni’s tongue, a touch more stimulation.
“Don’t tell us. Tell Leila.” Alexia whispered, her words hot on your ear.
“Lei, I- fuck,” You tried. One of your hands found its way to tangle in Jenni’s hair as you tried to bring her closer, make her go faster. “Lei I’m gonna come,”
“Go ahead, bebé.” Leila sang. You could hear the bright smile in her voice.
Jenni pressed her face closer, taking your clit into her mouth and sucking. Hard. That was all it took for you to cry out as your orgasm broke. One of your hands tightened in Jenni’s hair, the other frantically grabbing at the sheets as your hips bucked against her face.
“There you go,” Alexia hummed. “Tan rápido.” You should have been suspicious at how gentle she was being, but you weren’t in the right mindset to do so. Instead, you were completely focused on Jenni’s tongue still flicking against you. You were coming down hard when you felt one of Jenni’s fingers teasing at your tight cunt. You flinched, but Alexia’s strong arms held you firm.
“Jesus Jenni,” You cried as she pressed inside.
It was more understandable why Alexia was being so nice. Especially when she banded one arm around your stomach and reached her hand up to grip your throat. She didn’t tighten her fingers. Her hand just rested there, giving a glimpse of the control you knew Alexia was dying to show.
Hands occupied, Alexia couldn’t stop your lower body from moving. Your legs twitched and squirmed as one finger became two. The stimulation was just on the edge of being too much. Jenni knew what she was doing though, pulling away from your clit for the moment and focusing on pumping her fingers in and out of your pussy. It was a quicker build up this time, and you were getting close to finishing frighteningly quickly.
Jenni’s fingers curled and twisted perfectly, hitting different spots with every thrust. You could hear how soaked you were, listening to the wet slide of Jenni’s fingers in and out of you. The sound alone was dizzying, and the feeling was otherworldly.
“Jen,” You moaned again, not sure what you were trying to tell her. It was almost too much, but you definitely didn’t want her to stop.
“Cari?” Jenni asked innocently, a third finger teasing at your entrance.
“Fuck!”
“That’s what I’m doing.” Jenni smirked, pressing the third inside. “Now be good and make a mess on my fingers. And then I’ll let Ale have a turn.”
Alexia’s spare hand danced over your bare skin while her fingers tightened around your throat. It was just enough to restrict your airflow, and an overwhelming sensitivity seemed to take over every nerve ending in your body. You shivered, clumsily reaching up to place your hand over Alexia’s.
She could feel your rapid pulse under her fingers, hear the quiet whimpers finding their way out of your mouth. “Venga.” She whispered impatiently, “I want to fuck you.”
The hiss of words in your ear did it. A loud whine left your mouth as you came, the muscles in your abdomen tightening as you went hurtling over the edge. The pleasure was mind numbing, blinding, and you were unaware of what your body was doing until it began to ebb.
You practically went limp against Alexia a minute later, a long exhale escaping your mouth as Jenni’s fingers pulled out of your tight centre.
“Good?” Jenni chuckled.
You didn’t reply, your attention instead focused on Jenni’s slick fingers reaching up to push into Alexia’s mouth. Alexia parted her lips eagerly, and you noted somewhere in your mind that it was the easiest you had ever seen Alexia comply with what Jenni wanted. You watched as Alexia licked at her girlfriend’s fingers. Her lips closed around them and she began to suck, grunting lowly at the taste of you.
Suddenly, the warmth of Jenni was missing from in between your legs, her fingers extracting themselves from Alexia’s mouth. Together, Jenni and Alexia shifted you over and away, leaving you resting comfortably against the pillows.
You couldn’t help but pout at the loss of contact. Your bare skin left you exposed against the sheets, the only one in the room to be naked.
“You look so pretty waiting for them.” Leila said quietly, more than a hint of affection in her voice. You relaxed into the pillows, feeling your face flush slightly at the way in which Leila’s eyes bore into yours.
“Leila, ¿así es como se hace su maleta? Es un desastre.” Alexia asked, frowning in disgust as she rifled through the suitcase.
“She asked you here to fuck her girlfriend, not insult her packing skills.” Jenni flicked her lightly on the ear. “Lei, which is your favourite?”
The striker held up two dildos, as if she was asking which beverage Leila wanted. As if you couldn’t feel the phantom of both pressing inside of you.
“Left. But there is another in there she likes more.”
“Dónde? Debajo de este suéter feo?” Alexia mumbled quietly, ignoring the look Jenni sent her way.
“Hurry up.” You cut in, your voice embarrassingly whiny.
Frustratingly, neither Alexia nor Jenni even glanced in your direction. They continued to bicker quietly, this time over who got to wear what strap, and you shared an amused smile with your girlfriend. The argument was decided with Alexia silenced by a look you’d never seen on her girlfriend’s face before.
The two harnesses and two dildos were left on the desk as Alexia reached for the hem of her girlfriend’s shirt, but Jenni swatted her hand away with a roll of her eyes. “This is not about you Ale. Ask Leila if she wants us naked.”
“I want you naked.” You commented from the bed, sighing in frustration when all you got was an amused look from Jenni.
“Ouahabi?” Alexia asked impatiently, slowly pulling at Jenni’s shirt as if she was going to sneak it off her.
The defender hummed. “If you want to come in her pussy, you should take your clothes off, no?”
All was still for a second, then Jenni grinned and slid her hands under Alexia’s shirt. They undressed each other impatiently, not sparing a second to take the other in as more and more smooth skin was revealed.
You took it all in, though, watching with your jaw hanging open as muscular abs and quads and biceps and everything went on display. You only snapped out of your daze when both women had secured the straps to themselves, turning to you with downright evil grins on their faces.
You only had time to look fleetingly at Leila, comforted just enough by the warm brown of her eyes that were on you, and only you.
You were sitting up when Alexia moved across the mattress and settled between your legs. She pushed at your chest, sending you back into the pillows, before she pushed your legs apart. Your eyes were stuck on Alexia’s muscular form. You could have sworn she was flexing as she smirked down at you.
“Bebé?” Leila called. Alexia frowned when you instantly tore your attention from her, and looked towards your girlfriend. “I want you to be good for them, sí?”
You nodded, ready and willing to do whatever any of them asked.
Alexia flicked at your nipple, startling your attention back to her.
“And I want you to be loud.” She stated, shifting her hips forward so the tip of the strap pressed against you. The heat of her thighs nudged up against your own. “Shouldn't be hard for you. Let Leila hear how well I fuck her whore.”
Chasing Time, Finding Us
Alexia Putellas x Reader
It felt like you were living in parallel worlds. Your work projects were relentless, stretching your days into late nights. For Alexia, football consumed her time—matches, training, and travel kept her constantly on the go. The rare moments you shared had become fleeting, filled with rushed conversations and tired smiles. Though you tried not to let it show, a quiet fear gnawed at you. Were you slowly losing each other to the demands of your busy lives?
And, though she never said it outright, you could see it in her eyes that Alexia felt it too.
Then, on a rare afternoon when she wasn’t at practice and you weren’t glued to your laptop, Alexia surprised you.
“Next Saturday,” she said, her voice firm yet tender, “you and I are taking a day for us. No work, no football, no distractions.”
You glanced at her, startled by the sudden declaration. “A whole day?”
“Yes,” she said, her lips curving into a soft smile. “I’m planning everything. All you have to do is show up.”
The tension in your shoulders eased at her words. You didn’t realize how much you needed this until she offered it. “You’re serious?”
“I’ve never been more serious,” she said, leaning down to kiss your forehead. “We need this, cariño. I need this.”
---
The week leading up to Saturday was both a blur and a buzz of anticipation. You tried more than once to get Alexia to reveal her plans, but she was steadfast in her secrecy.
“It’s a surprise,” she’d say with an amused smirk, dodging your questions effortlessly. “You’re just going to have to trust me.”
And so, you waited, your excitement building with each passing day.
Finally, Saturday arrived. Alexia picked you up early in the morning, dressed casually in a fitted white tee and light jeans that somehow made her look effortlessly stunning. She had that mischievous glint in her eye, the one that always made your heart skip a beat.
“You ready?” she asked as you climbed into the car.
“For whatever you have planned? Always,” you replied, trying to sound confident, though your curiosity was eating at you.
She laughed at your thinly veiled attempts to figure out the destination, brushing off your questions with a shake of her head. “Patience, amor. You’ll see soon enough.”
---
The first stop was a quaint cafe tucked away on a quiet street, the kind of place you’d never have found on your own. The smell of fresh pastries and brewing coffee welcomed you as you walked inside. The two of you picked a cozy corner table, and for the first time in weeks, you felt the weight of your busy lives begin to lift.
Over breakfast, you talked about everything and nothing. Alexia shared stories about her teammates that made you laugh until your stomach hurt, and you told her about your latest work project, her eyes lighting up with pride at your achievements.
“I miss this,” you admitted softly, stirring your coffee.
Alexia reached across the table, her hand covering yours. “I know. That’s why we’re here—to remember how much we mean to each other.”
Her words stayed with you as she led you back to the car, her hand never letting go of yours.
---
The next destination was the beach. As you approached the shoreline, your jaw dropped at the sight of the clear blue waves and the golden sand stretching endlessly before you. Alexia had thought of everything—her car was packed with towels, sunscreen, snacks, and even a volleyball.
“Did you bring the entire apartment?” you joked as she unloaded the supplies.
“Only the essentials,” she quipped, tossing you a bottle of water with a wink.
“You thought of everything,” you said, your voice filled with awe.
“I told you,” she replied with a wink. “I don’t do things halfway.”
The day unfolded like a dream. You played volleyball, your laughter ringing out as you both competed fiercely—though you suspected Alexia let you win a few points.
Next, you switched to football. Watching Alexia with a ball at her feet was mesmerizing—she was in her element, her movements fluid and precise. But even as she showcased her skills, she never stopped teasing you, giving you just enough room to score a goal.
“Not bad,” she said with mock seriousness when you managed to slip the ball past her.
“Not bad? That was a perfect goal!” you shot back, earning a grin from her.
---
When the sun reached its peak, you both retreated to the cool ocean waves. The water was refreshing, and it wasn’t long before you were splashing Alexia, your laughter echoing across the beach.
“Oh, you’re asking for it now,” she said, lunging toward you with a playful grin.
You tried to escape, but she was too quick, wrapping her arms around you and lifting you off your feet.
“Lex!” you squealed, laughing uncontrollably as she spun you around.
She set you down gently, her hands lingering on your waist. Her gaze softened, and in that moment, the world seemed to pause.
“I love you,” she said, her voice steady and full of emotion.
You smiled, your heart swelling with warmth. “I love you too.”
---
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, you found yourselves lying on a blanket Alexia had spread out on the sand. You leaned against her, her arms securely wrapped around you.
“This is perfect,” you whispered, watching the sun dip below the horizon.
“You deserve perfect,” she murmured, pressing a kiss to your temple.
But the day wasn’t over yet. As night fell, Alexia led you to a secluded spot further down the beach. String lights twinkled overhead, casting a soft glow over a small table set with dinner. The sight left you speechless.
“When did you even set this up?” you asked, looking around in awe.
“A magician never reveals her secrets,” she said with a grin, pulling out a chair for you.
Dinner was simple but delicious, the conversation flowing as easily as the wine. Afterward, Alexia took your hand, pulling you to your feet.
“Dance with me?” she asked softly.
There was no music except the gentle sound of the waves, but it didn’t matter. You swayed together under the string lights, her arms holding you close.
“You really thought of everything,” you said, your voice tinged with awe.
“I just wanted to make you happy,” she replied, her eyes locking with yours. “We’ve been so busy, and I needed to remind you that no matter how crazy life gets, you’ll always be my priority.”
Tears prickled at the corners of your eyes, but they were tears of joy. You leaned up to kiss her, pouring every ounce of love and gratitude into the gesture.
---
As the night wore on, you lay together under the stars, her arms wrapped securely around you. The day had been everything you needed and more—a reminder of the bond that held you together, even when life tried to pull you apart.
In the quiet of the night, with Alexia’s steady heartbeat beneath your ear, you felt a deep sense of peace. This was love, you realized—not just the grand gestures, but the quiet, unwavering commitment to making time for each other, no matter what.
And as you drifted off to sleep in her arms, you knew one thing for certain: no matter how busy life got, you and Alexia would always find your way back to each other.
As a child, you weren’t really a child. In the surge of your mother’s impulsive decisions and explosive temperament, you suffered your fair share of the consequences. The consequences was piled up in your invisible backpack glued to your shoulder, and over the years; your backpack would get heavier and heavier.
At one point, the backpack was so heavy that you couldn’t get out of bed anymore. Your backpack was above your capacity leaving your attempts at standing up looking like a baby trying to walk for the first time.
The consequences of the imaginary backpack was there when you met Alexia. You met at a coffeeshop. It was the perfect romcom meeting. Alexia ran into you, and dropped her coffee on you. You had subconsciously met a few months earlier in a group therapy session for people dealing with anxiety and depression.
5th of November
One of the assets of Alexia was her face. Her face stood out to you, she didn’t look like she belonged in the room. Sure, mental illness and unwellness dosent have a spesfic look, but if you are attentive and willing to dive; you can see it in their eyes.
The thing about eyes is that it’s the only part of your body that you cannot lie with. Your eyes are like the windows to your soul, to your headspace. When you would look across the room, you would see people’s eyes. Most had drained eyes, eyes that looked like the had seen the most unforgiving of actions.
It was not like your eyes were any different. They were the same. Dull, sad, lost. There are a million ways to describe them, but the most fitting word would be gone.
Your eyes would brighten as the therapy went on. After having a few experiences with Alexia, the light had been sparked again. Like you were finally free to breathe. But, then you got the call.
“Your mother is sick, I don’t know how longs she has left”.
The light in your eyes were simply gone. Just like your mother stole your childhood, your innocence and your magic; she stole the light in your eyes and your adulthood.
It wasn’t the grieving of potentially losing your mother that had hit you. It was the grief of the loss of hope. The hope that one day, she might realise all her wrongs and try to do them right by apologising. That day looked further away than ever. It was just the tiny girl inside of you who were holding on to the hope of an apology like a child holds onto a helium balloon.
You laid in bed, sideways, facing the wall. The wall has patterns in it, carefully chosen by you and Alexia when you built your house a few years ago prior. The wallpaper is unique, you have never seen anything like it.
Alexia didn’t know it back then, but you wanted patterns on your side of the room for a reason. If you ever would spiral down into the state of mentality you had when you met Alexia, you would have something to look at.
10th of November
When your life came crashing down, a regular November night; you stared at the pattern in the wallpaper for hours. As Alexia’s soft snores fills the room bearing evidence of her trust that you are asleep: your eyes were wander to the wallpaper. Eyes heavy with sadness; but somehow also anger.
The anger lasts. It builds up. It turmoils into something bigger. Something heavier.
Anger for how your mother chose to run away from this world instead of dealing with the consequences of robbing your life before it had even begun. Anger for how she made things easier for herself. Anger for how the hope of an apology disappeared into thin air in sync with her existence.
“When i was 7, i would write my mami notes to tell her how sorry i was and how I wouldn’t mind if she gave me away to have someone better than me.”
Alexia looked at you with sadness in her eyes before wrapping her arms around you. The pair of you laying together, close to each other in totally silence and as different. Not a bad kind of different, but a healing kind of different.
“You didn’t deserve that.” Alexia whispers into the top of your head, while your face stares into the wallpaper. “I know” you respond.
25th of November
You don’t really know how to respond, or how to talk about your childhood. Your childhood had been taken out of your backpack after going to therapy for years. The consequences of your mother had been placed into a suitcase before it was thrown up to the loft. You simply forgot about it, for years. But one morning, the suitcase was back in your room filling you with grief of the life and the potential you were supposed to have.
“When I was a kid, my mom would ask me when I would go home again.” You whisper, the memory lingering in your head for a moment before the pattern of the wallpaper takes over again. “You didn’t deserve it, amor” Alexia whispers into your hair.
Alexia never tells you, but each time you share something about your childhood; her heart breaks for the person you were supposed to be. She tends to imagine what you would be like without the struggles,without the consequences of your mother. A part of her hopes that one day, you’ll have a little girl who will grow up to be just like you; but with two loving parents and a safe home.
Christmas is closing in, but you are still staring at the wall. You follow the pattern with your eyes: that’s all you have capacity to do. You never read, watch tiktoks or use your phone. You just stare at the wall, waiting for this to pass. The only issue is that this time; it won’t just pass. You haven’t realised it yet. But Alexia has, already having a list of the best private physiatrist that money could by ready for whenever your mind can hold two thoughts at the same time.
Alexia dosent push. She never does. She’s pacient. She’s consistent. She’s the most reliable asset you have had in the entirely of your life. She waits, and waits and waits; because she knows that one day you’ll be ready to move your gaze away from the wallpaper.
1st of December
“How is it today, amor?” Alexia asks. It’s the same question everytime she gets home from training. She’s just waiting for the day when you have an answer. “I don’t know” is your response. It’s always your response. Like your brain dosent have the ability to answer anything else.
Days become weeks, weeks become a month and a month became multiple months. Months of you laying in bed, waiting for it to get better. Months of you never leaving your bed for more than 5 minutes. Months of having the living room and kitchen being used by only one person.
Alexia is functioning for you, almost on your behalf. She opens your mail, books occasional doctors appointments over the phone, she brushes your hair and she brings you water with ice and a cut up apple every single morning before she leaves for practice. She dosent push it. She just leaves it infront of you.
When she has away games, she haves Alba over. Alba stays in the guest room, and she occasionally checks in on you. Never pressuring you, never making you feel bad. She understands the situation, and she wants to support her sister.
5th of December
Closing up to Christmas, Alexia is at practice tying her cleats. Mapi sits next to her watching as person after person disappears onto the pitch. When it’s only the pair of them left, she looks at Alexia.
“How’s y/n? She hasn’t been at any games this season” she wonders, the memory of you sitting next to her during her injury fresh in her mind.
“She’s alive, that’s all that matters” Alexia responds, quietly cleaning up her spot before getting ready to warm up. She clenches her jaw, not wanting to break in-front of her teammate.
Mapi smiles sadly at her understanding the severity of the situation. Ingrid went through the same thing when her grandmother died.
“I’ll get Ingrid to call her” Mapi says, not a tone of judgement in her voice.
“Anything helps” Alexia responds knowing that you and Ingrid created a special bond when Ingrid was injured. You went home to her and Mapi’s place to take care of her while Mapi went on the US tour with barca. That’s to your nature. Always taking care of others. Always attentive to others feelings.
On the drive home later that day, she dosen’t listen to music like she normally does. It’s quiet. She’s thinking. Her head is filled with worry, hoping that you will find it within you to recover again. Not because she wants you to or because she’s sick of caring for you; but because you deserve to live a life free of worry.
When she pulls up into the driveway, she sees the curtains are pulled in-front of the windows. She does it before she leaves, wanting to shield you from any media or fans. She trusts the fans, but not with you. You are fragile. A small tap, and you’ll break.
She grabs her phone and gets out of the car, walking the few meters to the entryway before locking herself in. Dinner is on her mind, perhaps salmon with pasta? You don’t eat much, but you eat pasta. If she just makes extra pasta, then she can put some pesto on it and have you eat just the pasta.
Her thoughts are spinning trying to find ways to help you without helping you. It’s exhausting, she thinks. Not caring for you, but watching you fade away until an empty shield of what you once were.
She takes off her shoes, and greets your golden retriever. He licks her hands, and wags his tail. Always so happy to see her. Her mind dosent understand how he can be happy of small things like pebble, squirrels and birds.
But then, at the corner of her eye. She sees movement. Her mind instantly brushes it off as the cat, but her curiosity gets the best of her. She rounds the corner, and her breathing stops. She stops in her tracks. Her jaw is on the floor. Her mind is empty. She’s at a loss of words.
Why?
That’s because in the kitchen, she sees you. For the first time since mid October; you look alive again. Like the color has come back into your face. Like the spark in your eyes has returned.
Out of bed, freshly showered in her Barca joggers and a hoodie cooking.
She thinks it’s a dream.
It’s not. You smile at her before pointing to the pot in-front of you.
“I made soup" you say, stirring the caserole of sweetpotato soup.
Alexia’s face soften and her lips smiles
She dosent know what to say.
You embrace her, and look her into her eyes.
She doesn’t know why, how or when Ingrid called you. But, she knows that her patience paid off.
“I love soup” Alexia responds.
7th of December
But the thing about the wallpaper, is that it’s quite the trickster. One day out of bed costs a lot more than the stamina you’ve had since getting familiar with the wallpaper a few months ago.
The wallpaper draws you in again, and for the next few weeks you lay in bed facing the wallpaper. There isn’t a singular emotion in your face. Apathy.
Christmas is closing in. It has always been your favourite holiday. You didn’t love holidays as a child, fearing the consequences of having to be with your mother’s unreliable emotions for en extended period of time.
But Christmas is different. Christmas reminds you of your grandparents. It reminds you of coming to their house, and helping your grandpa with getting the boxes of Christmas decorations from the loft.
The loft has a special smell. It’s usually not a pleasant smell, but you love the smell. It reminds you of nostalgia. It feels safe.
Nobody expects you to feel safe at your mother’s. After all, you would spent all weekends and all holidays at your grandparents. Neglected from your mother’s love and attention.
Perhaps, a part of her passing is knowing that she will never apologise. There will never come a day where she realises her mistakes, and takes responsibility for her actions. Instead, the little girl inside you has to take responsibility of her actions. It drags you down. It feels heavy.
The memory of begging your mom to change her was is still fresh in your mind. A picture of you sitting in your bedroom, tears rolling down your face while brainstorming how to get your mother to change. Maybe if you were just a little nicer? A little more helpful? A little less annoying?
“I wish I could get my mom to change her ways, maybe she would finally care about me?” you whisper out. That’s all you do these days. Whisper. Alexia holds you from behind, her arms wrapped around you like you are some fragile kitten. “The truth is that that no child can save her mother” Alexia hums, gently kissing the top of your head.
11th of December
Alexia’s patience never runs out. She waits. She happily waits for you to find your way out of the maze you have been pulled into. It’s not like you walked into the maze yourself, you were put there against your will.
It’s trial and error. Walking tirelessly to find your way out of your brain. The only thing she can do is wait. You stare at the wallpaper, and she waits. That’s how the days are going by. You stare, and stare and stare. She’s talked to her mami about it, and she supports the wait. It hurts Alexia’s mami to know that you were treated badly by your own birtggiver. She could never imagine doing something neglectful to her own children.
Alexia knows it’s not your fault, any of it really. She knows that you were supposed to be cared for. Loved. Held. But you didn’t get that. You had to figure it out yourself. It’s confusing for a little girl.
The situation confusing for everyone. Patri dosent understand why you aren’t there.
“Why isn’t your girl around anymore? Did you piss her off again?” She jokes.
“No, my wife is sick” she responds, not wanting to shine more light on your situation. She has decided that this is a private matter.
"Sick of you? or of football?" she jokes back. The room is now quiet. Awfully quiet. It’s an unwritten truth that they don’t joke about you. Mapi and Ingrid knows. Caroline and Marta too. Even Fridolina knows about your struggles.
Alexa clenches her jaw, trying her best to cool her anger. Pina tries to get Patri to cut it out, but for some reason; she dosent understand that it’s a serious matter.
“For fucks sake Patri, my wife is sick. Her mother that abused her for years had passed. She’s struggling. Can you leave me and my wife alone?” Alexia snaps, banging her cubby shut before marching out of the room.
Everyone looks at Patri. “Why did you do that?” Ingrid snaps, Patri just shrugges. “I didn’t know she was sick, I was just asking a question!”
Mapi looks at Patri.
“Read the fucking room.”
17th of December
The last game of the year, Alexia forgets her cleats. She had bought new ones after throwing away her old ones. The new ones were bright pink. Nike mad brilliance. Alexia didn’t really want bright pink, but they had the exact same colour as the top you wore on your first date, and the thought of your smile when you would see the cleats with the explanation; that convinced her.
A member of staff offers to go home for her, and get them; but she dosent want to. Even though she needs to eat with the team and do the pre game meeting. No matter how tired, she’s never willing to expose you at your most vulnerable state.
She says her goodbyes before sprinting to the car. Her luck has ran out, and there is traffic making her later than anticipated. The rain is pouring down, making cars drive slower. Her knowledge on the neighbourhoods in Barcelona are to a T after living there for many years. She makes shortcuts before finally pulling up to your street.
The houses passes by. Neighbours like the Ramirez where you would have bbqs and miss Talia where you would be invited for cookies reminds her of better days. Not just how things were a few months ago, but it reminds her of what’s to come when you find yourself back again. When you find your way out of the patterns in the wallpaper. It’s what’s ahead that’s important.
The better days.
Christmas is conveniently here. It adds to the traffic. Normally your house would be all dolled up by now, Christmas gifts and bright lights everywhere. The good old improvised wrapping station you would make taking over Alexia’s office. Normally, she would pretend to be annoyed by it. But, the truth is that she misses it. She misses walking along side you when you try to find this year’s wrapping paper theme. She always pretend to be annoyed by it, but she promises herself that next year; when you feel better, she’ll never complain.
When she pulls up to the house, it’s dark inside. It’s comforting knowing that you haven’t left the house. She knows that you wouldnt do anything dumb, but in the back of her mind the worry of how your mind taking over your rationality lingers.
With quick steps, she moves inside. Your dog greets her in the hallway, like he always does. He’s happy. His butt wiggling from side to side. She’s smiles softly spending a minute petting him, giving him kisses and belly rubs.
“Alexia? Can I come with you to the game?”
Alexia’s eyes widen. It’s like she can’t comprehend what is happening in front of her. You are standing there. Hair done, makeup on. A pair of jeans with her jersey on your upper body.
“Uh” is all she can say.
You laugh softly at her.
Your laugh. She can’t remember when she last heard you laugh before. She’s not sure what to say. If this is a surge or if you are actually feeling better. She separates her lips to speak, it words dosent come out.
You look at her.
She looks at your eyes.
Then she sees it. The sparkle is back. It’s not huge, like a few years ago, yet it’s there. A small twinkle.
“Ale, I think I’m feeling better. I’m gonna talk to the psychiatrist tomorrow”
She smiles, then she nods.
Her frame crashes into yours. Her arms wraps around you, hiding your head in her neck. She can’t remember the last time she hugged you standing up. But she’s grateful.
“My love for you is endless, princesa”
Not Strong Enough
Alexia Putellas x reader
Warnings: angst, relationship issues/breakdown
“Well I’m fucking sorry I’m not her Ale.”
“No you’re not your just a fucking disappointment.”
You stood frozen looking into the fridge cleaning up from a dinner you had made hours ago that Alexia hadn’t even bothered showing up for. You turn slowly looking at the clock behind her head “I don’t want to do this right now.” Alexia shook her head “no I’m so fed up with you, why honestly why can’t you just be like her.” You shook your head looking at the floor feeling your throat close “I don’t know why, I am the way I am I’m sorry I’m not her.” You couldn’t believe you where apologising, you had done nothing wrong but she was Alexia Putellas, La Reina she deserved someone who could match that she deserved Jenni Hermoso and no matter how hard you tried you never got close enough. You shook your head as Alexia just stared at you looking for a fight but you didn't have the energy instead looking up at the ceiling thinking of the ring that burnt a whole in your dresser wishing to be used, you had it all planned out but you saw that future slowly slipping away as Alexia began shouting again so loud you could barley here the song "Boys Don't Cry" playing from the speaker.
You turned to look at her as continued shouting about how much of a disappointment you where to hear, how you would never be enough and you wanted to look at her and hate her for her words but you found yourself believing them and therefore you couldn't hate her if you agreed with her. As the older girl continued to compare you to her ex you couldn't help but think of how you would never be able to be enough for her like Jenni was, you didn't play football, you weren't famous or an influencer you worked a desk job, a 9-5 week in and week out, you didn't have trophies or medals adorned with your name across them you simply had an office where you added up numbers how could an accountant from A Coruna.
You where simply an angel not a god like Jenni, no never a god
You couldn't move as Alexia shouted out all of the ways Jenni was better then you and you felt yourself suddenly begin to realise what was about to happen. This was it the ring in your dresser wasn't screaming at you to get out and be placed on Alexia fingers your mind wasn't telling you to fit the energy was gone.
"SAY SOMETHING" you looked up at Alexia as your eyes refocused and you where pulled back to present time "What do you want me to say Ale" you sighed heavily tired of it all "See this is what I mean at least Jenni would talk to me, communicate her feelings with me you shut off." you subbed your eyes god did they feel heavy. "Theres no point." you moved to the drawer taking out your car keys before heading upstairs to pack your bag.
Alexia stood shocked as you waled past her to the front door "At least Jenni would fight for us you are walking away such a disappointment." you turned shaking your head. "Yes Alexia such a disappointment like you already said, like you have said since this relationship started, I'm done I...I can't take the constant fights after you realise I'm not here and then feel the need to take it out on me its...its not fair.. and the sad part is I tried to be her but I'm sorry I failed at that because I can't....I am me and I thought you loved me for that but clearly I was wrong." Alexia shook her head "Don't make it out like I'm the bad guy you....you only got with me for my name for my status." You looked at her in disbelief how could she ever think that.
"I have loved you before your injury, I have loved you during your injury and the sad part is I will love you long after this injury is healed and you are back to La Reina but I won't be in the stands, who would want such a disappointment of a girlfriend screaming for their return no."
You chucked the keys at her as you walked out the door. Done with never being enough for her always being a disappointment and falling short for always only being an Angel and never a God, for never being Jenni Hermoso
Elena and Alexia Day!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elena and Alexia’s tradition of spending a day together to celebrate the little girl’s birthday!
(a/n: give me allll the cute, fluffy moments rn, this was so much fun to write. Forgot how much I loved writing kid fics 🫠)
Mapi knew as soon as the door opened that nothing good was going to be happening that day.
Alexia’s smile was simply too wide, and the midfielder was practically bouncing with an uncharacteristic amount of excitement, looking past her friend and into the apartment, her eyes eager.
“Where's my child?” She asked hurriedly, practically breathing down Mapi’s throat in an attempt to get into the apartment. The center-back rolled her eyes, but she was fighting a smile at the same time.
“Last I checked, she was my daughter,” the brunette pointed out, but she stepped aside just as Ingrid rounded the corner carrying Elena, and the blonde pushed past her, making a beeline for the baby.
“Pequeña! How is the best little girl,” Alexia cooed softly, her heart bursting as the young girl immediately reached for her, being quickly transferred into her godmother's arms.
“Tía!” Elena squealed, wrapping her arms around the Barcelona captain and pressing her cheek into the blonde’s shoulder.
Even if Mapi pretended to be annoyed, she couldn’t ever bring herself to really mind it that much. She loved how much her daughter adored her godmother, and she loved that Alexia found just as much joy in interacting with her.
“What are you doing here?” Elena asked, looking around at all the adults. The midfielder reached down with one hand to tickle her stomach slightly, sending her into a fit of giggles as Elena shoved her hand away playfully.
“What am I doing here? It is Tía and Elena’s day, no?” Alexia asked secretly, whispering rather loudly as Mapi and Ingrid fought to contain their laughter.
“Because it is my birthday soon, right?” The green-eyed girl’s face lit up in realization of what day it was, her excitement ballooning at the prospect of spending the day with Alexia.
Every year before her birthday, Alexia came over and stole Elena for the day, and they did whatever the little girl asked. Last year they had gone to the zoo, where the Barcelona captain had carried the little girl around the whole zoo, much to the Spanish girl’s delight. Her Mami and Mama always made her walk more, but Alexia never complained about the opportunity to carry the dark-haired girl around, instead laughing that it was her arms workout for the day.
“Si, si! What do you want to do today? We can do anything you want!” The older woman asked, her smile only growing when Elena’s forehead creased, the little girl clearly lost in thought.
“Can we go to the park together?” She asked, her face hopeful. Alexia nodded instantly, looking back at Ingrid and Mapi, who both nodded. She set Elena down, helping her with her shoes and taking the offered bag with the little girl’s things before she began to fetter them out of the apartment.
“Come on, let’s go!” Alexia exclaimed, her excitement getting the better of her as she swept the little girl out of the apartment, leaving Mapi to scramble after her.
“You need the car seat!” She hollered after them, causing the Catalan to circle back on a dime, her eagerness unable to be dimmed.
“Let’s go…right after we get the car seat!” She repeated with equal enthusiasm, causing Elena to laugh as raced after the Barcelona captain, her giggled echoing in the hallway infectiously.
The park was surprisingly busy as they arrived, much to Alexia’s surprise. She had expected it to be much more desolate than it was, but she remained unfettered by the number of people there, unbuckling Elena from her car seat and walking her into the park.
The little girl loved going to the park with her Tías, especially because they were all wildly overeager to spend time with her, always going on the slides and pushing her on the swings without any prompting, unlike her mothers.
The green-eyed girl was clearly elated, pulling Alexia straight for the slide, waiting patiently for their turn as Elena talked the Catalan’s ear off for five straight minutes about everything and nothing at all. But it didn’t matter to the midfielder, who listened as intently as she did during a halftime speech where the team was two goals down.
“Your turn Tía!” She exclaimed from her spot at the bottom of the slide, clapping her hands together as Alexia awkwardly scooted down the slide, not having the same smooth ride that the little kids did.
But she was entirely undeterred, especially when she stood and Elena came running over, crashing into her legs with a hug and then jumping up and down.
“You did it!” She rejoiced, holding her hand up to high-five Alexia, something that the midfielder responded with instantly.
“So did you! Look at us go!” Alexia exclaimed, pulling the sunglasses off her nose to sit on the top of her head as she bent down to give Elena a big hug.
The little girl could see from behind her the way that some of the people at the park were beginning to point and stare in their direction, but she didn’t think much of it, too engrossed in spending time with her godmother to really care.
“Can we go on the swings next?” The dark-haired girl asked, and the captain nodded eagerly, taking Elena’s hand to lead her over there.
“Alright, up we go!” She exclaimed as she picked the green-eyed girl up and popped her onto the swings, turning back to head toward the other side so that she could push Elena.
It was at that point that a little boy and his mother approached, nervous smiles on their respective faces. The mother pushed the boy gently toward the football, and he wrung his hands together anxiously before speaking.
“Uhm…could I maybe get a picture?” He asked, and the captain glanced back at Elena, who was looking at them curiously, her brow furrowed together, before she turned back to the little boy.
“Yes, of course. But just me please,” she asked apologetically, hoping that they could snap the picture quickly and allow her to fully focus back on her goddaughter.
It only took a few seconds, and her attention was back on the little girl instantly, smiling at her widely as she began to push her once more.
“Higher Tía, higher!” She cheered, smiling as well when Alexia laughed easily, pushing her as high as she was willing, not wanting her to get injured.
She only slows the swing when she feels another tap on her shoulder, and she tries to hide her annoyance when she finds that it’s another person, asking for a picture. Regrettably, she stopped the swings for a moment, telling Elena to stay put for another moment as she took the picture, hoping that this would be the last one of the day.
The sunglasses went back on, but even then people still approached her, even when she refused a photograph with them, trying to remain focused on her goddaughter.
And every time they were stopped or interrupted, the little girl’s smile seemed to dim just slightly, as first confusion and then a slight sadness settled over her.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t ever stopped when her mothers were asked for pictures, but it wasn’t usually like this.
Mapi and Ingrid weren’t stopped for pictures all that often, and when they were, they usually took individual pictures while the other kept their daughter entertained, to the point where it never bothered her.
With it being just her and Alexia though, every single time they were stopped Elena had to step back, when all she wanted to do was spend time with her godmother. It seemed that every person they passed wanted a piece of the midfielder, pulling her away from the green-eyed girl even as she tried to remain focused on her goddaughter.
Elena didn’t know Alexia as the two-time Ballon d’Or winner, one of the greatest players of their generation.
All she knew was the woman who loved spending time with her, the woman who showered her in love and kisses and carried her whenever she asked. She had known Alexia for her entire life and didn’t understand the Catalan woman’s popularity, especially given her age.
After Alexia had rejected a sixth picture, she turned back to the dark-haired girl, trying to recover a smile on her face.
“Do you want to go play over there?” Alexia asked hopefully, but Elena just shook her head, looking down at the ground insistently.
“Can we go?” The little girl asked instead, and the midfielder’s heart dropped into her stomach as she nodded tersely, taking Elena’s hand and leading her out of the park, racking her brain on what to do.
They made a quick pit stop at the car to grab a hat for Alexia before they began to walk toward more shops, something the green-eyed girl agreed to with a nod, still not really speaking.
The captain’s heart sank once more, and she swallowed nervously. Elena wasn’t usually this reserved, and eventually she couldn’t take it, looking around to make sure there was nobody around before she sat down on the sidewalk, pulling the little girl toward her gently.
“What’s wrong pequeña? I can tell something is bothering you,” Alexia said gently, her face contorted in worry.
Elena shrugged for a moment before she pushed her hair back roughly, quiet for a moment. When she looks up at Alexia for a second, there is a wash of insecurity painted across her features, one that makes the midfielder’s heart squeeze uncomfortably. She never wanted the young girl to feel uncomfortable or worried around her.
“You’re…you’re still here to spend time with me, right?” She asked in an unsure voice after a moment, stepping toward Alexia slightly, reaching forward to fist the material of the Catalan’s shorts in one of her hands.
“Of course I am! It is our special day just the two of us, no?” The blonde replied softly, placing her hands over the little girls.
“It feels like everyone wants to spend time with you,” Elena countered gently, and the Barcelona player kicked herself, just slightly. She hated this part of fame, the part that came between any of her relationships, the part that made anyone around her feel bad.
It was especially hard to see the dark-haired girl so upset, even though she was trying to hide it.
Alexia let out a slow sigh, trying to gather her thoughts. She should have started with a better disguise, and she should have never said yes to the first picture she took. The balance of fame was a tricky one, and she hated that she didn’t do better today.
“I’m sorry everyone kept coming up and interrupting us when we were at the park,” she started, trying to explain this as best as she could to an almost four year old. “I think people get really excited to see me sometimes, and they want to come over to say hello and ask to take a picture with me. Just like they do with your Mami and Mama sometimes, right?” She inquired, and Elena finally lifted her head to look at the Catalan woman, nodding as she blinked rapidly.
“I wish I could tell them all to go away, but sometimes they still come up and interrupt, and I’m sorry that I can’t stop them. But I promise you Elena, I am only here for you, and you are the only one I care about right now. It is our special day, and we can do whatever you want,” she promised, trying to keep her voice less desperate than she felt. She really didn’t want to let this come between the two of them, and she hated seeing her goddaughter upset.
But luckily the little girl seemed to appreciate her words, her worries mollified as her godmother explained.
“Could we maybe get ice cream, please?” She asked hopefully, her green eyes looking at Alexia with renewed and yet still reserved excitement, and the blonde wanted to sob in relief as she nodded, moving to get up and take them before the young girl stopped her. The dark-haired girl gestured to her to come closer, pulling the midfielder in closely to whisper in her ear.
“Maybe we could…we could take a picture together too?” She suggested in a small, shy voice, and the blonde’s smile widened considerably, nodding zealously as the little girl’s enthusiasm seemed to return in full force.
“Come on, we can send it to your Mami and Mama,” the midfielder decided, pulling Elena into her lap and removing her sunglasses before she began to snap selfies of them. At first, it was just the two smiling, before Alexia leaned forward to kiss the little girl’s cheek, sending her into a fit of giggles.
They pulled funny faces at the camera before Alexia allowed Elena to take her phone and take photos of her sitting on the sidewalk, before they swapped and the Barcelona player took photos of her goddaughter, both of them giggling as they did so.
Ingrid and Mapi received an onslaught of photos as Alexia replaced her hat and sunglasses back on her head, standing to lead Elena toward the ice cream store.
She bought both of them a scoop of ice cream, choosing chocolate for herself while Elena asked for some heinously sweet concoction.
“Do you want to try?” The dark-haired girl asked politely, holding out her cup of ice cream to Alexia with a smile on her face.
“Yes! Thank you so much for sharing,” the blonde replied, wanting to encourage the little girl to share, while trying not to skeptically eye the bright blue ice cream now sitting in front of her.
She offered the green-eyed girl a bite of her chocolate ice cream, before she finally lifted the spoon to her mouth, taking the tiniest of bites and trying not to shudder at how intensely sweet it was.
“Delicious!” She said instead, reaching for her water instantly to rid her mouth from the aching saccharine feeling of the ice cream. It was worth it when Elena smiled brightly, taking her cup back and continuing to eat, chattering away.
And even as they ate, they were interrupted just a few more times, with each time Alexia politely declining, before she turned back to Elena swiftly. She was worried that the little girl would be downtrodden with the interruptions, but rather she seemed to flourish under the captain’s attention, and it didn’t bother her as much now that the midfielder was declining the people who came up to her.
“You know what I think we need to do now?” The blonde asked, her voice low and secretive as she wiped the remnants of ice cream off the dark-haired girl’s cheeks.
“What?” Elena questioned, her eyebrows furrowed together adorably, truly having no idea what the blonde would suggest.
“I think it’s time to go shopping! It is almost your birthday, after all,” Alexia announced, never mind the four wrapped gift boxes she already had sitting in her apartment.
“Yay!” Elena cheered, the sugar rush beginning to hit her as she hopped around the midfielder with excitement.
“Come on, let's go pequeña!” Alexia declared, taking the overeager girl’s hand in her own and leading them out of the shops.
It was only once she had tired the little girl out, going from shop to shop and looking through all the different things that she could buy, that she finally took her back to the car, ready to go home.
She placed the bags into the boot of the car before she swung Elena up into her arms, hugging her tightly and relishing in the way that the green-eyed girl hugged her back easily, her whole body sagging into the midfielder.
“I love you so much Tía,” she mumbled sleepily, and it only made Alexia hold her tightly, and wish suddenly that she would never get big. She wished deeply that she could stay this small forever, that she would always be able to carry Elena to the car, or take her to the park, or get sickly sweet ice cream together.
But it also meant that she got to enjoy living in the present, making sure to appreciate all the little moments like these, to make sure to treasure these memories. She places one of her hands on the back of Elena’s head as she presses a kiss to the side of her head.
“I love you more, little one,” she replied easily, rocking her back and forth for a moment before she got her situated in her car seat, getting them ready to go home.
When Ingrid opened the door, she frowned, looking at the scene in front of her.
Because all that seemed to be in her doorway was her captain, smiling at her widely (and rather guiltily), holding so many bags she was giving Carrie Bradshaw a run for her money.
What was lacking in the doorway, however, was any trace of her daughter, the daughter that Alexia was supposed to be bringing home right now.
“Did you lose Elena?” The Norwegian asked skeptically, her eyebrow raised suspiciously.
“I’m right here Mama!” Elena announced, jumping up from behind one of the bags, her head popping up over the multitude of bags in Alexia’s arms.
Ingrid fought the urge to burst out laughing, shaking her head as she turned back into the apartment.
“María? Can you come here please?” She called out, waiting just a few seconds before her wife appeared in the hallway, walking toward them.
“What is it…Alexia?! Where is my daughter?” She exclaimed, coming to stand next to Ingrid, looking equally perplexed.
“I’m here Mami!” Elena reached a hand up to push one of the bags down, smiling brightly at her mother’s, looking up at Alexia with a huge grin.
“How did you…how much could you have spent…I…really?” Mapi asked as her hand came up to rub at her forehead, unable to really formulate a response.
Alexia opened her mouth, but appeared unable to come up with an appropriate answer for Mapi’s line of questions.
Ingrid, on her account, fought an amused smile as she reached around the bags to lift Elena up, poking her daughter in the cheek and smiling.
“Did you have so much fun?” She asked, her face brightening when the little girl nodded insistently, immediately beginning to tell her all about their day as she gestured with one of her hands, causing all of the adults to chuckle.
“How about we go get you ready for dinner?” Ingrid interrupted softly, redirecting Elena away from her long-winded story, and the green-eyed girl nodded before turning back to Alexia and Mapi.
“Thank you so much Tía! I love you, and I love Tía and Elena day,” she proclaimed, pressing her hand to her mouth and blowing Alexia a kiss before Ingrid looked over at the two Spaniards, stifling a laugh.
“I will leave you two to deal with…this,” she decided, gesturing to the pile of bags that now littered their entryway. She turned swiftly, leaving the two Spanish women alone, as Alexia looked over at Mapi with an apologetic smile.
The brunette looked unimpressed, staring down at all the bags before she looked back up at her best friend, disbelief etched into her face.
“Really Alexia?”
“I couldn’t help it!”
Can I request a Alexia putellas x wife reader, like the reader is a billionaire but the team mistakenly thought that the reader is using Alexia for money or fame because of how the reader dress just like simple clothes and the team tell the reader to leave ale alone... Thank you.....
I changed it to girlfriend just cause it fit better with the story line.
But yeah that's the summery
Warnings: panic attack but not really anything else
You had inherited your parents company after their passing. It had something to do with politics so you weren’t really that interested. And you were only 14 at the time. So when you turned 18 you sold the company to the highest bidder.
That’s how you ended up with a shit ton of money. You had so much of it that it was overwhelming to you. You didn’t really tell anyone about your money situation, not even Alexia. When you started dating, it was the year 2022. Alexia had just ruptured her ACL and was at a bar drinking her sorrows away. Not the most romantic place to meet but for you it was perfect. After a year of dating you had finally told Alexia about your money situation. She understood what it felt like to have so much money, so she helped you with managing it. You donated some of it to different charities. Some of them you put on your savings and some of it you kept on your bank account.
You didn’t dress in designer clothing and didn’t appear to others as a rich person although you had millions. You didn’t want anyone to view you differently because of your money. Alexia loved that about you. She loved how you were down to earth type of person and didn't care about money and what others might think of you. You also hated using money. Although you knew that you had enough many to not work anymore at all, you still felt the need to buy the cheapest things available.
You didn’t really meet Alexia’s friends properly due to her ACL injury. You had met some of them quickly after matches but didn’t get to actually know any of them. They always seemed nice and they made Alexia happy so that was the most important thing.
But the thing about her teammates was that they thought that you were some kind of a gold digger. They heard how Alexia talked about buying you expensive gifts and posting you to her Instagram. They knew that Alexia had money and popularity. You could easily gain a status for yourself. They also knew that Ale could be quite naive sometimes and they wanted to protect her.
They started asking some subtle questions about you. Things like where did you work and did you know who Ale was before meeting her. The answers to those questions didn't ease their doubts. You, a coffee shop worker and a huge football fan, didn't have that big of a salary and you of course knew who Alexia was. In fact, that's why you went to talk to her that day in the bar.
"She's using her for money" Jenni Hermoso was the first to say those words out loud. She didn't like you, you were too good to be true for Alexia. Something had to be wrong with you. Was it jealousy or did she actually care about Alexia's feelings getting hurt? We'll never know.
"You can't know that. Maybe she's in love with Alexia, at least Alexia is in love with her. I mean you all have seen how she looks at her and the way she talks about her. She's head over heels for that girl" Mapi tried to reason. She didn't want to think ill of you, but Jenni was good at convincing the others.
"Well yeah that's the point. Ale is in love with her, and she's probably just in for the money. Alexia just talked how she is going to buy y/n this necklace that costs way too much. I mean I even heard y/n once ask Alexia to bye her some earrings. Clearly she just wants attention and money" Jenni tried to convince the others.
The girls kept talking about the situation for a while before Alexia showed up.
"Oh hi, I'm sorry I'm late. Y/n and I went to this fancy restaurant and time just went by" She explained why she was late to the team bonding night. "Oh look at her in this photo, she looks so cute" She showed the photo to the others.
You were sitting there with a gold necklace hanging from your neck. You were wearing a Gucci dress, which you didn't even really want but Alexia bought it to you still. Her teammates didn't know that and were just thought you made Alexia buy it for you.
"Oh that's a nice dress, bet it costs a lot" Jenni stated.
"Well yeah it was quite expensive but I love to pamper my girl. She's just always stressing about money so I want to show her that she doesn't have to" Alexia explained. When she said you were stressing about money, she meant the fact that you felt bad for having so much of it and it made you anxious. What her friends thought she meant was that you were poor.
"Oh could you drive me home? i would call y/n but her phone broke and she hasn't gotten a new yet. I'm probably going to have to buy her a new so I can reach her" Alexia joked.
"Oh yeah jump in" Jenni answered. She shared looks with the other girls to see if they had heard what Alexia said. Now Patri and Marta were convinced.
"Could I come quickly inside to have some water?" Jenni asked. And Alexia said it was fine of course.
They walked to your home which you share with Alexia. It was an apartment in a good neighborhood. You had split the costs of it but obviously Jenni didn't know that.
"Hi baby I'm home and Jenni is me, I'm just gonna head to the shower" Ale yelled to you and left the hallway to the bathroom. You came from the bedroom to greet your girlfriend and her friend.
"Hi Jenni" You smiled to the brunette. She just hummed.
"So what's your deal with Alexia, you just using her for money or what?" Jenni went straight to the point now that she had the perfect chance to ask you.
"What, no, i love her I would never use her for her money" You were quick to reply. You were shocked that she would even suggest that.
"Well you clearly don't have any money as you can't even pay for a new phone or the dresses you wear" Jenni stated. She was getting frustrated.
"No it's not that, she want's to buy those thing, I've never asked for any of them" You answered dumbstruck.
"Yeah Alexia might be naive enough to think that but I'm not. Break up with her before we'll tell her what you really want from her." Jenni just said and left.
The rest of that night you were quiet and Ale was confused of what happened. She didn't push it thought, maybe you just had a long day.
The next day you drove Alexia to prac. You were nervous to get close to the training grounds but didn't want to be weird so that Alexia wouldn't notice.
"Bye love, have a good prac" You said to her as she hopped out of the car.
You stayed for a bit to change the music and just like that there was a girl knocking on the window of your car. You lowered the window so you could talk.
"Umm is everything okay?" You asked the woman who you had identified as Marta.
"I'm guessing you didn't have a talk with Ale like Jenni suggested?" She just said casually.
"No, I'm not using her for her money" You tried to reason.
"Yeah, I guess we just have to tell her the truth" Marta said and left.
You were afraid. What if Ale would believe them There was no reasonable reason why she would but you still got scared. How did you come off as a gold digger? Why did her friends hate you so much that they came up with that?
You made your way back to home where you bursted to tears. You had always hated the idea of people seeing you differently because of money. And when you tried your hardest to avoid that, it was exactly what happened. They thought that all you wanted from your girlfriend was money. You were scared that Alexia would believe them and then she would just break up. All the worst scenarios came to your mind and soon enough you were in a full panic attack.
"Ale we need to talk" Jenni said to Ale immediately after training.
"Um okay? Is everything ok?" Alexia answered.
"Well no, we all have noticed that y/n is most likely using you just for money and you're just too naive to see that" Jenni started. Alexia grew mad immediately.
"Why would you think that? Of course she's not after the money" Alexia replied angrily.
Jenni tried to explain to Alexia why they thought that you didn't actually love Ale. They explained that it was weird that you didn't mention the conversation you had with Jenni the other night.
"You talked to her about this?! You accused her of being a gold digger? What the fuck is wrong with you?" Alexia panicked. She knew that money was a sensitive topic for you.
Alexia tried to call you but you didn't answer so she just ordered herself a taxi.
"Y/n is the sweetest human being and you are here accusing her of something she didn't do!" Alexia yelled.
"You just can't see it Ale, she's using you" Marta tried.
"Fuck you, and just for your information, she has more money than I do" Alexia yelled and left the room.
She impatiently waited for the taxi. The drive home was a suffering experience. Now she realized why you had been so quiet the night before. She hated her teammates for making you think that you would be just a gold digger.
"Baby I'm here" She yelled when she got home. She was nervous when you didn't come and greet her.
She walked to the bedroom where she found you draped in your comfort blanket. So clearly trying to calm yourself down.
"Oh y/n I'm so sorry" Alexia said as she hurried to your side. She knew you loved physical touch so she made sure to give that to you to help you calm down.
"They shouldn't have said any of that, they are all wrong. I know that you love me and you know that I love you. That's all that matters. They don't know anything about you and they were being assholes with even thinking those thing about you" Alexia said. She was being sincere, you could hear it in her voice.
That helped you calm down. You loved Alexia and she loved you.
I lowkey hate how this turned out. The anon ask was amazing but I feel like I couln't write it properly.
Melting Pot
Hardersson x Child!Reader
woso-dreamzzz Kids x Child!Reader (Princesse)
Summary: A melting point of universes
Tumblr media
The school building isn't one that Magda stared at a lot, despite it being just across the street from her house.
It was a selective school, only accepting a handful of students after hours of vetting and interviews. Magda wasn't quite sure what the requirements actually were but she's glad that she passed them.
"Morsa," You say as you stare up at the building," What if they don't like me?"
Magda looks out across the schoolyard, where a small handful of kids are playing around.
There's a section nearer the back with a few little babies. Another section with some kids playing around with a football. A different section with a climbing frame where one little girl is sitting at the very top.
"They'll love you," Magda assures you.
You didn't have the best run of schools in Germany, with one particular teacher scaring you into an anxiety attack so bad Pernille had to pick you up early.
It was one of the reasons that Magda had campaigned so hard for this school. The brochures and the reviews insisted that it was perfectly inclusive and because the pool of students were so small, the classes were really tailored to each child and their needs.
It was perfect and Magda thanks her lucky stares that she had secured a place for you.
"Intimidating, isn't it?"
Magda looks to her side to see a woman standing next to her.
"A little bit," Pernille says politely.
"We thought the same when we first came too."
There's a little girl standing next to her, staring up at Magda with wide eyes.
"It'll get better," Her mother says," I'm Alexia, by the way. This is my Pequeñita."
"Magda. And this is Pernille and Princesse."
"It's nice to meet you. But, really, it'll get better. My girls love it here."
Magda looks at the singular child. "Girls?"
Alexia smiles, jerking her chin to the other side of the road where a tall woman with dark hair is walking over with two children.
"My ex, Jenni."
"You talking bad about me, Ale?" Jenni asks good-naturedly. She's holding the hands of a girl with ribbons in her hair and the other on her hip is gripping the life out of a stuffed fox.
"Always," Alexia teases," This is Magda, Pernille and their daughter. They're new."
"I was wondering who got the new place," Jenni says," Nice to meet you. This is Bambi and Osita. I'd shake your hand but they're full."
Pernille laughs. "It's fine."
You shuffle a bit closer to her, tugging on the sleeve of your jumper as you walk into the schoolyard.
Pequeñita starts pulling away the moment she spots a pack of similar-looking children, zeroing in on the smallest of them and Alexia lets her hand go so she can attach herself to the girl.
Bambi also disappears off to a corner of the playground where a group of girls are making daisychains.
Osita sits in Jenni's arms.
"Hi, there," A cheerful woman that you identify as a teacher says," You must be Miss Harder and Miss Eriksson. It's nice to finally meet you all." She crouches down. "And you must be my new student."
"Hi," You whisper.
"Ah, a shy one. I think you'll fit right in." She looks back at your mothers. "We've still got fifteen-twenty minutes or so before school starts. You're welcome to hang around the playground to get her settled."
"Thank you."
You squeeze Morsa's hand tight as she leads you around the playground.
There are still a lot of parents hanging around so you don't feel awkward still clinging to Momma and Morsa.
You stay mainly silent as you stare out across the playground.
"Lots of blended families," Momma notes, jerking her head around the playground at where she's noticed exes and custody agreements that are clearly a little sour.
"Inclusive too," Morsa says.
There's a little baby wearing hearing aids sitting on her mummy's lap over in the corner with the rest of the babies.
"International as well."
You're in a melting pot of languages and culture, something you can pick out even over all the shrieking of the playground.
There's languages you recognise and accents that you don't.
You relax a little.
There's a shriek nearby and you turn your head to see that throng of similar-looking girls wrestling around while a tall woman sighs and her smaller partner tries to separate them.
"Big family," Morsa laughs as the smaller woman gets tackled to the ground by the rest of her kids.
You're still looking around when a football comes rolling to a stop in front of you.
You look at it.
A group of girls come running over.
"Can we have our ball back please?" It's one of the taller ones that ask, the one that looks fairly similar to the group that's tackled their mummy to the ground.
You nod, gently kicking it back. She grabs it, turning to go.
"What's that?" A smaller girl points at your bag.
"It's my Wolfsburg keychain."
"Wolfsburg? Like the football club?"
You nod. "We used to live in Germany. Wolfsburg is our German team."
"Who's your English team?"
"Arsenal."
The smaller girl shoves her way forward, holding out her hand. "I'm Bean," She says," My team's Arsenal too."
"And mine!"
"That's Bug. She's technically my niece because my sister Leah's her mummy even though we're the same age."
"Hi," You say, gently letting go for Morsa and Momma's hands to shake Bean's.
"And this is Peanut and Nena," Bean continues," We play football together. Tesoro too but she's late because her sister Lessi likes staying in bed as long as possible."
Bean passes the ball off to her niece, who does a round of fairly impressive keepy-uppies.
"Do you play?"
You nod. "I play keeper."
"Cool!" Peanut interrupts," We don't have a keeper yet! Do you want to play with us?"
"Yes, please."
You go to move away but Morsa draws you back.
"Hey," She says," We're going to go, alright? Are you good here?"
"Uh-huh!"
Momma gives you a kiss and a cuddle and Morsa does the same before you're released.
You run into goal just in time for Bug to release a wicked shock that you jump up to collect easily.
Being the second captain of Barcelona, meant coming with a few responsibilities. Like showing new players around, and trying to include them in the atmosphere to make the whole move less daunting. It probably makes sense considering we are the best in the world.
Which is what’s happening right now, we’ve signed a new centre-back, considering we barely have any due to injuries. Currently we rely on a defensive midfielder, and anyone we deam can do it. Not ideal. January transfer is like heaven.
We walk around, talk about our lives a little bit as I try to make conversation more homey. Apparently she has a girlfriend who plays for PSG and I talk about Alexia, my other captain and long-time girlfriend. Who may (definitely) have a slight jealousy problem.
After a while of talking and walking, we make it to the gym and I announce the arrival.
“Everyone! As you know, we have a new person joining us! Make her feel welcome, included and we won’t have any problems. Got it?” They nod their heads going back to their respective activities as the new recruit smiles fondly at me, something which doesn’t go missed by Alexia.
I turn to face the CB.
“Now you, let’s get you headed for the locker room. I’ll show you your area and then you can go home for now. I’m assuming Jona has emailed you a schedule of everything?” She nods.
“Alright, now message me if you need anything and I’ll add you to the main group chat all of the girls are in.” She smiles and I lead her toward our changing rooms showing her where she’ll be.
“You can decorate a little bit, add some personality like some of the girls have. Anything you need can be kept here.” I point to a door at the end of the room.
“That’s the showers, obviously if you’re going anywhere after trainings. I know Patri likes to play music, so I suggest some strong noise-cancelling headphones if you don’t like the music. Any questions?” She shakes her head, I smile.
“Well then, go home. Settle into the new apartment, Ale and I live pretty close to you. Same with Ingrid and Mapi, who are also willing to answer anything else you have in mind.”
I pause.
“Now, if that girlfriend of yours ever comes to visit I’d like to meet her, I know it seems straightforward but I do like meeting new people.” I notice the recruit blushing, and pat her shoulder before leaving.
- - - - -
Over the next couple days, I ensure the new defender is fitting in well and she is. Hanging out with Ingrid and Frido but also Keira and Aitana, it’s good to see.
Alexia might think differently. I noticed her getting worked up over something but I can’t imagine what. I can but I don’t know how when a quick instagram search could cease any of her worries. She’s too straight headed for that.
It’s after training when I see her approach, I’m speaking on tactics in the locker room when Alexia slides in next to me, her arm wrapping protectively around my waist. I smirk then hear what she has to say.
“Ready to go home amor?” She says, kissing my neck softly, something she’d rarely do in such a public setting. I stifle my laugh nodding and saying my goodbyes to everyone else, getting in the passenger seat of our car as Alexia insists she always drives.
I sigh, her jaw is set and I can tell something is wrong.
“Alexia, qué pasó?” She shakes her head, her knuckles growing whiter as she grips the steering wheel. I know I can’t do anything but I seem so helpless at the moment.
It’s a completely different change from the confidence in the change rooms to now not even speaking to me.
We head inside without saying a word, I head straight for a shower to hopefully get a grip on where the conversation with Alexia will lead.
- - - - -
After the shower, I walk into the living room and Alexia is sat with her legs crossed in the couch, staring straight ahead at the blank TV. I break the silence.
“If you stare at the poor TV any longer I think it’ll break.” She doesn’t say anything, just nodding slowly her eyes darting toward me before back in front.
“I will not do this Ale. You need to tell me your feelings or we can’t work this out.” She huffs leaning back.
“Lo siento, I just… missed you.” Her voice quiet, I nod in understanding, I spent a lot of time with the new defender.
“So in other words, you’re jealous?” She blows an air bubble between her lips. (do you guys know what i mean by that)
“Maybe.” I can barely hear her voice but I don’t need to.
“Well baby, nothing to worry about because A. she has a girlfriend and B. I love you more than anything. Never forget that. I’ll try make more time and maybe we can meet the new ones girlfriend when she comes to Spain.” She nods slowly.
“Sorry I acted this way.” I shake my head.
“No, it’s ok. I understand, I sort of put you aside. I’ve learnt and I’ll prioritise your feelings a little bit more in the future.” She nods, tears glistening in her eyes.
“Te amo Ale. Remember it forever.” I place my lips against hers, gently and full of passion that I’d never give to anyone but her.
When oxygen gets the best of us I rest my forehead against hers, breathing in everything of this moment. Oh, I never want to leave.
Fridolina is perfect in your eyes. Too perfect, actually, and it drives you crazy
Fridolina Rolfö x reader
Tumblr media
masterlist
Warnings: jealousy and reader lowkey has issues
A/N: i’m the biggest frido fan on this planet so this sucked to write ily frido 🙁. i wrote this at 12:30 am so it’s not very good + not proofread and i’m very sorry in advance
You grew up loving Spanish football.
The technicality of it was your favourite thing and later on, you tried to incorporate it into your own play style. It set you apart from your teammates and made you stand out… until she came along.
The Swedish talent, incredible defender, the attacking fullback of everyone’s dreams. Fridolina Rolfö. You had played against her a handful of times and she was nothing short of talented; she was probably the first fullback you had seen that dribbled so high up the wing with so much confidence and actually managed to make something out of it.
Your usual position was in the midfield, but when your starting right back got injured, you found yourself shoved into a completely new position. You loved carrying the ball up the field and creating plays or dictating the game, but from the back, you could hardly do that. Due to the lack of real opportunities to let yourself shine, Fridolina got all the attention. The more goals she scored, the more assists she got, the more headlines she made in German sporting media.
The worst part? She was genuinely nice, so you had no proper reason to hate her besides being extremely jealous. She was kind and always complimented you during training and encouraged you during every match.
Your transfer to Barcelona couldn’t have happened at a more convenient time. Just as you were nearing your breaking point with her perfectness, your contract expired and you signed with the Spanish club. You had no intention of renewing with Wolfsburg, not while she was there. You wanted that fresh start, you wanted to thrive in a completely new place and finally learn the Spanish way of football first-hand.
The first season was amazing. You were breaking personal records and putting up performances for your new club, solidifying yourself as a starting player. You made friends and learned many things both on and off the pitch, and on top of that, you won your first couple trophies outside of Germany. You were at the peak of your happiness.
Of course it had to be ruined by a certain Swede arriving at the club only a season later. “(Y/N), it’s such a coincidence! I loved playing with you, so I could never turn down the contract they offered me,” she happily said to you on her first day. You smiled back at her despite wanting to bash your head against a wall, because you couldn’t find it in yourself to be mean.
She stuck with you during her first couple weeks at the club until she got familiar with everyone else; to you, those were the worst weeks of your life as you were forced to confront the reality that she was perfect as ever and you were sickeningly envious of her.
Over the course of the next season, it became harder to understand how she had almost no room for imperfection. Her only flaw was something stupid like not being able to bake which was something you couldn’t do either, so that didn’t make you feel any better.
Everyone in your team loved her. She was a good player, an excellent one even. She was soft spoken and respectful, and a team player who fit right in almost immediately.
She loved cafés and coffee, like Ingrid. She enjoyed kayaking and swimming, like Lucy and Ona. She loved dogs, like Alexia. She liked to travel, like Aitana.
She was everything you wished you could be, and it made you curse her name in the dark emptiness of your bedroom after hours. It made you watch her for a second longer during training, even while you’re on the other side of the pitch. It made you smile at her in the changing room and ask her how she is.
She didn’t even have to try to be adored, whereas it felt like you had been trying to catch anyone’s eye since the beginning of time. She breathed and the media was all over her.
As the season progressed, the envious feeling became a regular thing when you were around Fridolina, so you had gotten used to it. You felt bad for feeling such a way but your heart overpowered your brain and the feelings persisted.
You were having the best season of your career so far, between qualifying for a Champions League semifinal and becoming a league champion once again on top of winning the Copa de La Reina and Supercopa.
During the second leg of the semifinal against Chelsea, you were taken out inside the box, granting your team a penalty. You stepped up to take it with the chance to put you and your team ahead, but before you could even walk up to the spot, blonde hair swished past you and before you could process anything, the ball hit the back of the net and you saw Fridolina running away to celebrate it. You couldn’t even afford to be angry on the surface, because then everyone would know something was wrong and you’d have to come clean and hurt Fridolina and say something that would surely upset her so.. you celebrated with your team. Like anyone in your position would.
That was your breaking point though — her being under the spotlight once again, proving that she’s so magnificent and better than you and perfect.
Perfect, once again.
The worst part was, even as you sat in the changing rooms on your own, fighting back tears, you knew you couldn’t entirely loathe her out of any amount of jealousy. You couldn’t loathe her more than you loathed your own mind, which betrayed you by worshipping her like some sort of idol.
The rude awakening that you worshipped her settled in as you tried to ignore the fact she was the type of person you prayed to be like, to a god you barely believed in.
Fucking perfect angel Fridolina. Damn you.
