This was supposed to just be a shitpost based on this tweet bc love potion + amnesia potion = they're both pink omg lol time for alexaniel nonsense but then it turned into lots of other thoughts about an AU (?) i will put under a readmore lol

So it turned into a shitpost of a different kind AKA amnesia horror choose your own adventure (dating) sim AU?? Kind of?? Uhhh let's say the game is EXACTLY the same except you don't wake up and find your note to self, instead you wake up with Alexander in the bowels of the castle bc you didn't make it to the Entrance Hall and Alex sets right to work on informing you that you had an accident ergo your lost memory and that you're such good friends and oh, if you help him finish the ritual for his portal (this is normal, Daniel, of course) he'll help you regain your memories, trust. And since you're in the bowels of the castle of course you also meet Agrippa who is now ALSO asking you to do things and telling you things completely opposite from Alexander and oh, good heavens, who do you believe??

Essentially this shitpost became a thought exercise in what would have happened if Alexander had gotten to Daniel before memoryless Daniel was informed that the Baron is not to be trusted? I have a feeling it would end tragically because Daniel is constantly taking Ls in the 'don't get manipulated by authority figures' game and now the authority figure is also a beautiful glowing man who speaks in honeyed baritone notes like hello?? Bro would fall hook line and sinker a second time. MAAAYBEEE you believe Agrippa and do the Agrippa ending still, MAAAYBEE you disobey Alexander and explore areas you shouldn't and regain some memories that way, but methinks overwhelmingly that if Alexander had more initial direct access to memoryless Daniel that bro would have immediately swept him back under his sway 💀

Also 'Alexander, the ethereal man...' gets to be a direct parallel to Daniel writing 'Agrippa, the dying man...' bc it's very funny to me that Daniel refers to him only as a dying man and not a talking husk of an almost corpse, very considerate of him. So i think he'd equally downplay how whack Alexander looks in his other world form lol

I wish more people cared about actual Alexander's motive to return to his homeworld, it actually would be so cool if others made content about him and his beloved also like, hear me out Alexander angst based on his desperation to come back to someone who he loves. But hell nah we can't have that because it all got watered down by Alexaniel shippers, and honestly in my personal opinion Alexander is mischaracterized by this fandom so much especially by Alexaniel shippers and I hate that, despise even.
