โเฑจเงyou're home alone waiting for alexโเฑจเง fem reader x alex nilsen
There hadn't been this many creaks in the roof before tonight, you swore. Bundled up in a blanket on the couch, movie on in a sordid attempt to fill the silence, you looked up at every possible sound of footsteps outside the door.
Alex was chaperoning the Halloween dance at school, and he'd promised he wouldn't be out too late, that he just needed to fill in for another teacher who couldn't make it at the beginning. But it was nearing eleven, and he'd been out for three hours, with no sign of returning home soon.
Your phone buzzed, vibrating the couch cushion, and you snatched it up, sliding the call icon over. "Hello?"
"Hi baby...sorry, some of the kids tried to bring in flasks and things got out of hand..." The background noise on Alex's side was muffling him slightly, nearly swallowing his words. You could hear music and chatter, buzzing through the static of the phone. "I'm leaving right now..." There was a whoosh, and then it was quieter on his end. He must have gotten outside. The idea of him calling you the instant he was able made you smile.
"It's okay," you promised, sitting up straighter and adjusting the blanket on your lap. "I was getting worried about you."
"I'm sorry," he apologized, the whistle of his car unlocking punctuating it. "I'll be home in ten minutes. Love you."
"Love you too." You hung up, settling back into the couch and pulling the blanket up to your chest. Trying to focus on the movie, not being home alone. You were likely imagining the noises surrounding. Imagining the tapping on the windows, imagining the rustle of the curtains.
Shivering, you pulled the fuzzy blanket tighter around you, wishing it was Alex's arms instead. You had a lovely nightly routine that the two of you made a point to stick to. Cuddling and kisses, no matter what.
Stretching, you accidentally knocked your phone to the ground and jolted as it clattered. Your own reaction made you giggle, realizing how on edge you were when he wasn't home. The darkness combined with the lack of Alex seemed to make you more skittish than an alley cat.
The familiar sound of clinking keys startled you worse than your phone had, and you straightened, lifting the remote to turn off the movie. Holding the blanket around yourself, your eyes seemed to be glued to the door as it squeaked open, revealing Alex, wearing his dress pants, tie loosened, sleeves rolled up. He brightened when he saw you, and you let go of the blanket, reaching out for him. "Baby."
"Baby," he chuckled, kicking off his shoes and sitting down next to you. Alex pulled you into his arms, letting your head rest on his chest and then laying back so his head was propped against the armrest. Your body was snug between his legs as he tugged the blanket over the two of you. Leaning down, he pressed his lips to your forehead. "Missed you."
"I missed you," you emphasized. "It was scary being home alone."
"Aww, I'm sorry," he murmured into your hair, rubbing your back over the blanket. "Damn kids. I should have brought you with me. We'll do that next time."
"Are you asking me to prom, Alex?" you murmured, giggling and looking up at him.
He couldn't help his grin, smoothing a big hand over your back, tickling the ends of your hair. "Depends if you'll say yes."
"Of course I'll say yes," you smiled, letting your head fall against his chest.
"Maybe then my students will finally believe I have a girlfriend," Alex mumbled, and you giggled. He mock-shook his head, tilting his chin up. "Apparently I'm too nerdy to be believed."
"Well you're also hot," you insisted, smoothing your hands over his chest, and he breathed a laugh, catching your lips in a light kiss and tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
"Am I now?" he asked playfully, shifting his thigh and bouncing you on his lap much to your delight. "Well, alert the twelfth graders."
You dissolved into laugher, nuzzling against his chest and clinging tight to him, kisses and cuddles ensuing as you eased into your nightly routine.

๊ฃเงเฑจเงyou and alex go to a haunted house๊ฃเงเฑจเง fem reader x alex nilsen
Alex wasn't normally one to hold hands, but right now his was clasped with yours, fingers bent over your knuckle as you moved through the line, swarms of people chattering over the spooky music.
Somewhere, a fog machine was hidden, bathing the ground in smoke that sent a shiver down your spine. You clung to his arm and he smiled, letting his chin rest on your head for a moment. "You okay?"
"Yes!" There was a terrified excitement running through your veins and manifesting in adrenaline. You were bouncing up and down on your tiptoes, looking around at all the decorations. Alex kept a hold on you so you wouldn't be swept up in the current of the crowd.
Handing over your tickets, you looked up at him eagerly and he laughed, ruffling your hair with one hand. "C'mon, cutie. Let's go get our asses scared off."
Entering the haunted house, you instantly squeezed his hand, eyes darting from side to side. When you jumped at the first actor, Alex chuckled, pushing you slightly behind him. "Let me go first." There were hearts in your eyes as you continued. He was being sweet, not wanting you to be the first one scared.
It was a maze of dark corridors, of actors jumping out at random intervals and screaming. You had Alex's hand in a death grip, but he didn't say a word. Sometimes when there was a jumpscare it would trigger you to giggle, making him laugh in turn.
Going down the rickety metals stairs that led to the next stretch, he murmured, "You doing okay? Good so far?"
You laughed and nodded. "Did you see the look on the last lady's face when the swamp monster jumped out?"
"Priceless," Alex agreed, pushing aside the curtain of the doorway. You got a little too excited and entered first, getting scared by someone in a ghost costume. When you screamed, Alex slid his arm around your waist and pulled you into his side, chuckling. "Stay close."
He kept up the sentiment the deeper you got into the maze. You remained giggly, pointing certain things out and making silly comments that made him laugh.
It was all fine until the last stretch.
The walls had shrunk, leaving barely enough room for you to get through. You and Alex had to walk sideways through it, still holding hands. Actors jumped out from seemingly invisible niches, their faces glowing. As you scooted through the limited space, you noticed your heart starting to beat faster. Inhaling softly, you tried to take deep breaths, attempting to slow the poor organ. But suddenly there wasn't enough air in the room.
Your chest was heaving, breaths increasing in volume. The surroundings were so loud that nobody could hear you. Now your hand was sweaty and you released Alex's for a minute to wipe it on your jeans, the split second of no contact increasing your panic.
Echoing in your ears was the screaming, and the wall was far too close to your back. You stepped sideways, shoes clanking on the metal grille. Beside you, Alex was saying something and you nodded along, unable to understand a single word.
Finally you were free, released from the shackles of close quarters. The second the air became open you were barreling into Alex's chest, hiding your face there and trying to regain your breaths.
His hand came up to your back, rubbing gently. Faintly you could hear him asking what was wrong, but you couldn't answer. His low voice vibrated against you, and it was comforting enough for you to shed a tear.
Luckily he knew what to do, securing an arm over your shoulders and guiding you through the crowd, getting you to the car. He opened the door to the back seat for you, sliding in after and bringing you into his arms instantly.
You gasped, hair curtaining your face as your tears fell fast. He wordlessly held you, taking slow, deep breaths as you learned how to steady yourself again.
He waited until you pulled back to look at him before saying anything. Brushing a strand of hair from your face, he murmured, "What happened, baby? What can I do?"
You sniffled, diving back into his chest. Your next words were muffled. "It was the last part...everything was...too close together...and...and..." you dissolved into tears again, fingers gripping the back of his sweatshirt.
"Oh, sweetheart." Alex rested his chin on your head, leaning down to kiss you there. "I'm so sorry I didn't notice." His voice indicated his guilt and you shook your head, practically hearing his thoughts. But before you could reassure him, he said, "How about we go get some hot chocolate? Will that help?"
You removed your head, meeting his gaze. He looked concerned, eyes grazing over you as if checking for injuries. Your heart beat fast in a different way, just as it did every time he showed any sign of care toward you. Nodding slowly, you whispered, "Yes."
"Okay." Alex sat up, and you moved to get out of the car and switch to the front. He did the same, adjusting the seat and mirrors as you buckled in. Just as he was about to put the keys in the ignition, he reached for your hand on your thigh, grasping your fingers lightly. You met his eyes, smiling tiredly.
Alex kissed your knuckles, holding them to his lips for a moment, and you leaned back in your seat, knees folding underneath you. He rubbed your hand, eyes tender as he watched you. Always checking, always making sure things were okay.
He was always so careful with your anxiety, conscious of the spaces you occupied and how long you did. But here he hadn't noticed it and you could tell he felt bad. Your man was always worried about something or other, and it often regarded you.
Reaching over, you wordlessly squeezed his wrist, corners of your lips lifting just a little. The gesture softened him, his shoulders untensing as he looked into your eyes. You felt your heartbeat slow down, and he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, fingers lingering on your cheek.
Alex smiled just a little, searching your eyes. You gave a gentle nod, indicating that you were okay, and he gave your hand one final squeeze. Your body finally relaxed with the jingle of the keys as he put them in the ignition.
Though he often worried while driving, he picked up your hand once you were on the road, twining your fingers together.

โเฑจเงyou're alone on halloween and alex comes to see youโเฑจเง fem reader x alex nilsen
Swiping the wand over your lashes, your eyes fell to your phone when it buzzed on the counter. Alex was trying to call you. Ignoring it, you leaned forward in the mirror to get a better look at the state of your makeup. Fish purred contentedly by the sink, lifting his chin in a kitty smile when you looked at him.
It was always hard spending a holiday away from Alex, even if it was a minor one. You always took the major holidays together, like Christmas or Thanksgiving, but you longed for the simple pleasures of fun ones like Halloween. All your friends were bringing their boyfriends to the party tonight in coordinating costumes while you were stuck with your solo act.
Maybe if Alex was here you would have done something cute from a movie you both liked. But since he wasn't, you had gone generic, donning a short white dress and angel wings. Staring at your reflection, you capped your mascara, shoulders slumping a little. You felt pretty. You'd look good in whatever pictures your friends posted tomorrow. But the ache in your chest was apparent, and you wished with all your heart that he was with you.
The two of you had talked about him maybe relocating to the city when you'd first accepted this job a few years ago, but nothing had come of it until this past spring. You both agreed that he should spend at least another school year in Linfield and maybe start looking for teaching jobs this winter so he could move right after school ended. You were so excited at the prospect of him coming to live with you finally after missing him so often for so long.
That still didn't make days like today any less hard.
Your phone buzzed with another text from Alex, but you didn't bother to read it. In a minute you would FaceTime and show him your costume and the little bow you'd put around Fish's neck. He would let you see Flannery O' Conner, Fish's littermate, and probably tell you he would be staying in tonight.
Petting Fish, you smiled a little sadly when he stood, rubbing his head on your side. You and Alex had gotten your cats together, picking them out at the town shelter. Fish was a tie to the man you loved in that way, and you were grateful for it.
There was a knock at the door, and you called, "It's unlocked, come in!" It was probably Jules here with the Uber. She was early.
Deciding to find a quiet-ish place at the party to call Alex in, you picked up your phone and gave Fish one last pat, trailing from the bathroom to the kitchen and living room. Your white heels were sitting by the couch, and you internally debated the logistics of bringing a purse before you realized who was standing in front of the door. Not Jules.
Alex grinned at you, somehow more handsome than when you'd seen him last. His hair was a little messy, and he looked a little tired. But he was here. "Hi baby."
Your mouth fell open, and you hurtled toward him, crashing into his open arms as he dropped his carry-on and squeezed you tight, lifting you off your feet. You'd told him a thousand times not to do that because of his bad back, but today you shelved your concerns. His clean scent filled your nose as you buried your face in his chest. "You're here...how are you here?"
"It's amazing what they're doing with teleportation these days." You lifted your head up, raising your eyebrows and meeting his eyes. He smiled, thumbing the side of your cheek. "I took today and tomorrow off. Decided to take a long weekend and come see you."
You giggled, almost in disbelief. wrapping your arms around his neck. "You did all that for me?"
"I missed you." Alex pressed his lips to your forehead, leaning down and catching your mouth in a kiss as sweet as candy corn. "Missed my girl."
Tummy fluttering from both his words and his lips, you squealed lightly, hugging him tight again. "I'm so happy you're here."
Pushing you back just a bit, Alex's eyes roamed over your body, your dress. "You look sexy. Were you going somewhere?"
"A party," you mused, staring up into his eyes, your previous plans already nearly forgotten. "But now that you're here...I'm not going anywhere."
He gave you a look. "We can still go. You got ready and everything and you look gorgeous-"
Reaching up, you kissed him needily, effectively silencing his protests. Losing yourself in his touch, you nudged your nose against his. "I wanna do something else."
He slipped off his shoes as he kissed you, letting you walk him over to the couch and push him gently to sit down. The grin on his face hadn't faltered once for the time he'd been there. When you began to take off your angel wings, he sat up, reaching out. "Wait, wait. Did you take any pictures in your costume?"
You shook your head, a little dazed, mind clouded around everything except him. Alex reached into his pocket and pulled his phone out, using his hands on your hips to scoot you backwards a bit. Flopping back on the sofa, he swiped right on the screen and pointed it at you, the shutter clicking. Over and over you'd teased him for not turning off the phone's standard device sounds.
After a few seconds of posing, you gravitated back towards him, sitting on his lap despite his protests. "Just a few more...okay." You were already cuddling into his chest, your wings poking his arm. Looking up with puppy dog eyes, your cheek squished his shoulder. He sighed, smiling and setting a palm on your other cheek. One final click of the camera was heard as you smiled adoringly up at him.
Tossing the phone aside, Alex settled his hands on your hips, giving you a fond look. He rubbed you gently, and you melted under his touch.
Remembering what you'd wanted before, you stood from his lap and slipped off your wings, setting them on a nearby chair. Letting his arms rest on the back of the couch, Alex shifted so he was sitting up straighter, grinning. "Whatcha doing babe?"
"I was gonna send you a picture later," you smiled, slipping one strap of your dress over your shoulder. He watched, almost entranced, as you removed the other one, beginning to shimmy the fabric down your chest and over your knees. His eyes widened as you kicked the dress aside, smoothing your hair behind your shoulders.
Your lingerie was white and lacy, hugging your body and effectively stunning your boyfriend. He wordlessly reached for you, hands glued to your hips as he pulled you right down into his lap again. "Baby..."
Sliding his hand to your breast, you kissed him lovingly, pressing yourself against him. Alex kneaded your hips, hands sliding over your bottom and tugging you into him.
His lips ebbed and flowed over your skin in the way you'd missed so desperately, and you tangled your hand in his hair. It'd been nearly a month since you'd seen him last, felt him like this. He shifted you off his lap so you were sitting beside him. You were about to protest, when he knelt in front of you, pulling your legs over his shoulders.
When your phone buzzed on the coffee table, you reached for it, seeing the text from Jules. She was on her way. Alex frowned, squeezing your thigh. "Baby."
"Hold on, I need to tell her I'm not going tonight." You tapped out the text quickly, using more abbreviations than usual.
Alex pressed his mouth to your thigh, still pouting. "You weren't so eager to respond to my texts."
"I was going to call you," you giggled, hitting send and putting your phone back on the table. "And show you my costume."
"Hmm." Alex kissed your knee, dipping back down between your legs.
It was dark when the two of you finally stopped, trying to catch your breath, skin sticking to one another. He kissed your forehead, reaching for his boxers and tugging them on. Taking the blanket from over the arm of the couch, Alex unfolded it, spreading it over your body before getting to his feet.
He went to the carry-on bag that he'd abandoned earlier, kneeling and unzipping the top. You sat up sleepily, holding the blanket to your chest. "Did you bring more sweatshirts?"
Alex threw a smile back at you. "You don't have enough of my clothes?" But he tugged out what he was looking for, holding the maroon sweatshirt up triumphantly. "I'll have to borrow one of the others I've left here."
With an excited squeak, you sat up, making grabby hands. He laughed, bunching up the sweatshirt in his hands. "Lift your arms, baby."
You did, smiling wide as he pulled the neck opening over your head and adjusted it over your bare body. He gave you a loving peck on the nose, leaving for your bedroom to find a sweatshirt of his own. The one you were wearing was an old one from college that was soft and cozy on the inside.
He returned in a forest green one, smiling and diving into the couch, taking you into his arms. Pressing warm kisses to your neck, Alex nuzzled there, murmuring, "You're so pretty."
"Wanna put on a movie?" you murmured, rubbing his chest.
Alex nodded, kissing your cheek. "Scary?" You scrunched up your face, and he laughed. "Alright. Not scary. I'll pick a Halloween movie though."
Remote in one hand, Alex kept you cuddled close with his other arm, kissing your hair as he flipped through movie options, selecting one of your favorites. You were pleased when his other arm slid around you as the opening credits began. Fish found his way over, jumping on the couch and purring as he settled into Alex's lap. It seemed you weren't the only one who'd missed him.
Every second with him you soaked up, reveling in his warmth. As the movie played, you talked softly about everything and nothing, the stupid little things you always wanted to tell him but felt strange doing when he wasn't physically here.
You knew eventually you would have to escape your bubble, find a way to say goodbye until the next time. But for now you were content in his arms, able to pretend that he would never leave.

๊ฃเงเฑจเงyou and alex take a drive to see the leaves๊ฃเงเฑจเง fem reader x alex nilsen
The scenery whizzed by as you practically pressed your nose to the window, taking in the bright fall leaves blooming in warm colors against the cerulean backdrop of the sky. The same blue of the eyes of the man next to you. Alex smiled wide at you as he drove, both hands on the steering wheel. He risked a look at you every now and then, but mostly kept his eyes on the road, looking at the trees in his own way.
Growing up in the city, the most of the leaves you ever saw were of the trees planted at even intervals in the sidewalk. And their leaves were stripped of color by pollution for the most part- not at all like this.
When Alex had suggested taking a drive to go see the leaves in the country, you'd jumped at it, delighted by the idea. He almost seemed more excited to show you than you were to see it.
Pulling the car over at a little spot off the road, he'd hardly put it in park before you were bounding out, looking around with wide eyes as if you'd stepped into a storybook. It was magic. Nature at its most beautiful, vibrant right in front of your eyes.
Alex appeared beside you, and you threw your arms around his neck, kicking a foot up. "It's so beautiful!"
"You like it, huh?" he rubbed your back, smoothing hair away from your face. "Wanna walk around?"
An enthusiastic nod was your answer, and you laced your hand through his, pulling him closer to the trees.
Light caught the edges of the leaves, making them glow with a golden lining. You reached up to touch one that was green fading into yellow, marveling at the sensation. When you turned back to Alex, he had his phone out, and you smiled big for the camera before looking back at the tree.
Letting go of his hand, you wandered ahead a little, taking in the scene before you. In all your excitement you'd left your phone in the car, and so you tried to memorize every detail, committing earth's beauty to memory. In a wish like a penny in a fountain, you pleaded with your mind to let this appear in your dreams tonight.
Turning around, you asked, "Alex?"
"Hm?" He appeared at your side.
"Can I borrow your phone for pictures? I left mine in the car."
"Yeah, babe." He fished it out of his pocket, setting it in your hand and pressing a kiss to your temple. "I'll go get yours too, so you don't have to send everything to yourself."
You blew him a kiss as he left, tapping on his phone screen to unlock it. As soon as it lit up, somehow your smile broadened.
His lockscreen was you beaming at the camera, holding a leaf fading from green to yellow.

Consciousness. The sheets under your smooth legs, blanket pulled up over your waist. Alex's hand was low on your back, one of your legs hooked over his thigh. Even though the two of you always fell asleep close yet separated, you always ended up finding your way back to each other, like lovers in the grave.
You shifted, eyelashes fluttering. There was a tiny pain in your lower belly, a twinge that made you open your eyes as you began to realize its familiarity. Oh no.
Sitting up, ripping the covers back and yanking yourself away, you were horrified to see red staining the spot between your legs, ruining your favorite sleep shorts. There was a splotch of blood stark on the sheets, and even more humiliatingly, on Alex's pajama pants.
You whimpered, tears stinging your eyes. This was hardly the first time you'd bled through overnight, but never had it happened with your sleeping boyfriend right next to you. Dread curdled under your skin as you thought of the work that laid ahead- changing the sheets, washing the blood from your clothes, dealing with another week of bleeding and cramping just because you weren't pregnant.
Alex stirred next to you, his hand finding your thigh before you could dart away to hide in the bathroom. He rubbed his eyes with his fingertips, sitting up with you. "You okay?" He followed your eyes to the red stain on the sheets. "Ah."
Hiding your face in your hands, you dry sobbed, embarrassment flooding your system and burning your cheeks pink. Immediately Alex put his arms around you, rubbing your shoulder and kissing your head. "Honey. It's okay. It's completely okay, you're okay."
"I'm sorry," you whispered, shaking your head. Now that you were conscious, the cramps were coming in full force, stabbing at your insides and causing you to draw your knees to your chest in hopes of some relief.
"No sorrys," Alex murmured, bringing your head to rest on his shoulder. "Shh, it's okay. What'll make you feel better?"
"I want to shower," you managed, gathering the courage to lift your head.
"Okay. Okay, you go shower," he said softly, drawing gentle circles into your back. "I'm gonna get you some breakfast so you can take Ibuprofen okay?" He kissed your hair when you nodded, patting your thigh and standing up, leaving you by yourself.
Retreating to the bathroom, you took a lengthy shower, letting the steam unburden you from the womanly ache that stretched you thin. You let yourself relax, ignoring the sounds outside the door and trying to clear your mind.
Once you were changed into your comfiest leggings and one of Alex's sweatshirts, you emerged, strings of wet hair clinging to your cheeks. Finding your way into the kitchen, Alex turned around almost the instant you passed the doorframe, smiling in his sweet way. "Any better?"
"A little." You lifted one sweatshirt-sleeve covered hand to rub your cheek. "I need to eat something."
"I've gotcha. Go sit down," Alex said, nodding at the couch in the living room. You obeyed, too sleepy to even try to fight back.
He sat beside you shortly after with a bowl of yogurt and berries, Ibuprofen bottle tucked under an arm, corresponding hand holding a steaming mug of tea. You sighed, feeling close to tears again just at how thoughtful he was.
Alex set everything down on the coffee table and let his hand settle on your hip, rubbing slightly. "Do you need anything else?"
You shook your head, reaching for the yogurt. "Thank you."
"You're welcome, baby." Alex kissed your head and stood up, thumb lingering on your cheek. "I'm gonna go change the sheets and then I'll be back."
Your cheeks flushed, and he shook his head, rubbing your jaw. "Don't. It's no big deal. I'll be right back." The casual way he went to take care of something you'd built up to be so embarrassing in your mind was practically heroic to you, and you nearly cried for the third time today.
Alex came back to you in fresh pajama pants just as you were taking your medicine, the bowl of yogurt scraped clean. You gulped down the pills with a mouthful of tea, taking in a breath and bringing a hand to your head. He smiled sympathetically, reaching over to rub your back. "Is there anything I can do?"
"Cuddles," you murmured, turning and reaching for him. He obliged instantly, taking you in his arms and letting you adjust yourself into a comfortable position. Once you were settled, he slid his palm under your sweatshirt, right over your belly. You breathed easy at the feel of him holding you there, the heat of his hand chasing away some of the pain while you waited for the pills to kick in.
He kissed your temple. "I'm sorry you're hurting, baby."
You hummed, half into sleep already. His body was so warm around yours, lulling you into a restful state. The cramps that had been pulsing through your body were softening, his presence and the pills both doing their job.
Alex let his chin rest on your head. "I've got you. Just rest."

โเฑจเงalex with a girl who has anxietyโเฑจเง fem reader x alex nilsen
Tossing your keys into the repurposed ashtray, you hung your purse on the wall hook, slipping shoes off as quietly as possible. It all felt robotic, almost like it was someone else performing these actions. That was always how it felt after doctor's appointments, no matter the type. You had just come from a checkup and your heart was pounding Morse code into your chest that you didn't at all want to translate.
Running a tired hand over your face, you wandered down the hallway, happening on Alex on the living room couch, squinting at his laptop. He'd changed out of what he'd worn to school this morning, now in a t-shirt and grey sweatpants. Upon hearing you, he lifted his eyes from the screen. "Hi baby. I called you, are you-?" Noticing the look on your face, he cut himself off.
Biting the side of your cheek, you shifted on your feet, feeling the color flood your cheeks. Even though he'd assured you a million times that your worrying wasn't something to be embarrassed about, you still felt the twinges of it every time.
Setting his laptop on the coffee table, Alex frowned, reaching out for you. "C'mere. Did everything go okay?"
You flew into his arms, burrowing into his chest. He let out a quiet oomph when you landed unexpectedly on him, but adjusted, rubbing your back. "What happened? Is everything good?"
"Yeah," you murmured muffled into him. "I just...going makes me feel icky."
"Gotcha," Alex said, stroking your hair and letting his hand trail down to your back, rubbing it lightly. He was quiet for a moment before saying, "Do you wanna talk about it?"
You shook your head, and he pressed a kiss to your head. "That's okay. Do you wanna go change? I'll wait right here for you."
Nodding, you stood a little reluctantly, trying to keep your breathing steady. In a haze, you found your way to the bedroom and stripped your clothes away, replacing them with one of Alex's shirts, a soft one from so many times being washed.
He smiled when you reappeared, reaching a hand out. Now his feet were on the couch, legs parted lazily. The space between them was an invitation, and you accepted it. Alex settled you comfortably between his knees, back to his chest. He pressed a hand to your heart, and the firmness of it caused the poor thing to slow down. His presence sobered you from your panic, and you took in a deep breath, feeling like smoke had been cleared from your lungs.
Alex leaned his cheek against your head, letting the quiet stretch and curl around you like a cat. He waited a minute to speak, and when he did, it was a mumble. "My shirt's big on you, huh?"
"Mhm," you hummed, closing your eyes. This was heaven; being safe with him. It was cozy with your head resting on his chest, him half-slouched, half lying down with one hand on your chest, the other splayed on your belly.
"Do you wanna order in tonight?" he asked casually, drawing delicate circles into your hip.
"Yeah." You smiled finally. Even without talking about it, he knew what you needed. Food and cuddles were the best medicine to worrisome events for you, and he was always happy to provide them in tenfold.
Alex pulled out his phone, propping it on your stomach and looking up the name of your favorite restaurant with his chin on your head. He held the screen still while you tapped out your order, then added his share, kissing your head while pressing the confirm button. "Thirty minutes," he announced, even though you could see it.
You turned in his arms so that your stomachs were pressed together, snuggling right into him. Alex smiled fondly, smoothing your hair behind your shoulders. "That means thirty minutes of cuddles."
The peaceful feeling clouding your senses was becoming dormant, and you nodded into him. "And more after."
He'd reached over to his laptop without letting go of you, typing a streaming service into the search bar with one hand and pulling up one of your favorite movies. Burying his nose into your hair, he nudged his lips against it. "Lots more after."

You were late.
Not late in a fun way, like at parties or the last hours of the night. The thing that was late was a certain womanly bleeding between your legs, one you dreaded but needed at the same time. It was a smoke signal, a universal thumbs up that you wouldn't have to worry about a life changing thing for the next thirty days.
Fish curled around your legs as you stared at your calendar, pen shaking above the day marked in black with a single sad face, the day that passed over a week ago. It seemed to taunt you, and you longed for the innocence you'd had when you drew it. Alex used a physical calendar because he claimed he could remember things written there better than on his phone, and you'd adopted the habit as well when it was proven correct.
Your pen clattered to the tabletop as your hand flew to cover your mouth, the realization really hitting you then like a freight train. Your monthly was famously on time, and you always said that it was the only part of you that was. In the past year you'd adopted the habit of going to sleep with a pad in the night before it was set to come, to save several pairs of pajama bottoms.
This week, however, had been a blizzard of work, and there had been a small family crisis that hadn't warranted your flight home, but had kept you on the phone quite a bit, hanging onto text updates. You hadn't even thought about your period since the last one ended.
But now its absence was glaring at you, pointing a finger with a single dreadful word you didn't even dare think yet.
A shaky breath escaped you, and you buried your face in your hands, tears bubbling up and spilling from your eyes. This was all wrong, all so, so wrong. You and Alex had always been careful, or you thought you'd been. One thing you were in agreement on was that you didn't want kids. At least not right now.
It wasn't a money issue. Well, it wasn't not a money issue, but it was more that you wanted to be steady. Your jobs were both secure, lives locked down, love for each other confirmed, but you wanted to enjoy it all. To be young and in love and as stable as the two of you were was a rare thing. Alex had bought a house for goodness' sakes, his grandmother's, but an independent living space nonetheless.
Besides, you loved your life as it was now. To work at a job you enjoyed that made a more than decent living and come home every night to your cat and the love of your life all handsome and happy was everything you'd dreamt of.
And it was all about to be upset if your fears were proven correct. All because of a stupid, undetectable mistake you weren't even aware you were making.
The keys clinked against the doorknob, a telltale sign, and you stood abruptly, staring at the door as it swung open. Alex appeared in its line, the sun lighting his silhouette like a halo. He looked tired, but a smile appeared the second he saw you standing there. With one hand, he firmly shut the door, slipping his shoes off and starting to remove his jacket. Fish padded over to greet him, his black tail bent at the tip. Alex gave him a series of gentle pets before looking up at you with a boyish grin. "Hi baby."
You were frozen in place, new worries overtaking you. How would he react to this? Alex set his bag down and made his way over to you, sliding his arms around your waist and burying his nose in your hair. "How are you?"
"Fine." Your voice nearly broke, but you kept it together, hiding your face in his chest. He always smelled clean and fresh, like laundry, even after a long day dealing with hormonal teenagers. "How was your day?"
"Long." He kissed the top of your head. "Glad it's the weekend. Glad to be back here with you." Alex pulled back, but his smile dropped when he saw your face. Apparently it had fallen back into revealing the nature of your thoughts during its time in his chest. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing!" You forced your mouth to turn back up, but the way he was looking at you caused it to plummet right back to the depths. The tears you'd thought you swallowed stung your eyes again, and a pathetic little noise worked its way out of your mouth.
"Oh, baby-" Alex pulled you back in, and you began to sniffle, a little sob shaking your shoulders. He managed to lead you back over to your chair, where he sat and pulled you across his thighs. You hid your face in his chest still, humiliated by the fact that you hadn't been able to hide it for more than a few minutes after seeing him.
He rubbed your back, letting his lips fall to your forehead. There was a calm front that you knew would be disrupted the second you told him. Alex was steady and unmoving with your troubles, but this was different. "Did something happen?"
You sniffed, nodding and pulling back to look up at him, searching his eyes. "I...I..."
"Slow down, shh." Alex smoothed your hair behind your back. "Deep breaths, sweetheart. Don't work yourself up." His thumb found your cheek, stroking back and forth, effectively soothing you. "Whatever it is we can figure it out."
Taking a deep, unsteady breath, you searched his eyes, voice breaking every other word. "I'm...I'm...late."
"Late?" Alex frowned, confused, but then he noticed your calendar. The black sad face looming like a homing beacon. You swore he went pale. "Oh."
Squeezing your eyes shut, you bowed your head. "I'm so scared-"
Alex pulled you back in, cradling your head to his shoulder. He must have been hiding his own shock, as was his way. That was how he always was- comforting you first, composing himself.
When he pulled back, he was all soft words and gentle touches, tucking your hair behind your ears and drying every tear that dripped from your eyes. "Okay. Okay, here's what we're going to do." He was shockingly calm, ever your rock in the storm. "I'm gonna go to the drugstore and get a few tests. You're going to stay here-" Alex shifted you off his lap and stood, opening the fridge and pulling out a can of lime-flavored sparkling water, one of your favorites. "-and drink this. Okay?"
You nodded, taking the can from him after he popped it open. "Okay." The voice that passed your lips hardly sounded like your own, it was so tiny.
He kissed your forehead, holding his hand to your cheek for a second longer than maybe he usually would have. "I'll be back soon, alright? It's gonna be okay."
After he left, your mind was blank except for those four words.
It's gonna be okay.
Negative.
Every test you'd taken came back with one line. Alex had waited dutifully outside the bathroom while you relieved yourself on each stick, leaving them on a towel on the counter. He set the timer on his phone, and then the waiting game had been afoot.
He held you through it, rubbing your back and taking deep breaths that encouraged your own. All you could think to do was cling to him and pray.
When the timer had chimed, you felt like you were walking to your doom. Alex stood behind you, and you could feel him holding his breath.
The first thing you did when you saw the matching results on each test was turn around and cry into his chest. His hold on you was tight, and you felt every anxiety from before fly from your shoulders. It was okay. It was all okay.
No words passed between the two of you. Not about what had happened. Alex swept the tests into the trash can, tossing the towel into the laundry basket and asking if you'd be okay for a few more minutes while he went to get dinner. Everything was a haze as you nodded, and he left you bundled in a fluffy blanket on the couch, double-checking that you were okay before he left again.
You passed out, exhausted from the emotions that had been running rampant in your mind for the past little bit. It was an enormous jump from fear to relief, and your body was limply feeling the effects.
It hardly felt like five minutes had passed before you awoke to his fingers in your hair, gently stroking. You leaned into his touch, shifting your feet and feeling something warm and furry beside them. Fish.
Opening your eyes, you blinked sleepily at him, and he gave you a tired half smile. "Hey. You hungry?"
Sitting up, you yawned lightly, nodding as a response. Alex's hand found yours, twining your fingers together. "I got you a salad from that place you like. And a smoothie."
"Thank you." You leaned forward, pecking him on the lips. "That sounds wonderful."
"I'll bring it to you." He was standing up before you could protest, and then Fish crawled half onto your lap, rendering you immobile.
Once Alex returned, he let you settle into his side while you ate, balancing your salad on one thigh and his on the other. It was quiet, but you didn't mind at all, taking the time to reign in your thoughts.
Setting his and your empty bowls on the coffee table, Alex lifted both his feet onto the couch, parting his legs and reaching for you, as if he was reading your mind. You crawled into him, head against his chest, and he tugged the blanket over the two of you. Fish walked over your back, laying slouched between your side and the couch back, right on Alex's arm. He grunted, shifting so he could still hold you but accommodate the cat.
You rested your ear over his heart, the steadiness of its beat soothing your unsteadiness. Alex always managed to still whatever typhoons were raging within you.
He thumbed your hairline, and Fish started purring, vibrating against both of you. When he spoke, it was in a whisper. "Can we talk about it?"
Nodding, you lifted your head, disarmed by his expression like always. He was serious yet tender, unyielding but gentle. You whispered, "That was really scary."
"It was." Alex's hand on your lower back was drawing soft circles through the blanket. "You were so brave."
You shook your head. "No. You were strong and I was a mess. I..." you trailed off for a moment, the words fleeing your mouth before you could regulate them. "Taking the tests...it really made me realize that I'm not ready for that. I...it was terrifying."
"Yeah," he murmured, hand tracing parallel lines up your spine now. You could practically hear him thinking but couldn't deign to guess what he was about to say. Alex inhaled once through his nose. "What would you think if...if I got a vasectomy?"
Eyebrows shooting up, your eyes went as round as saucers. Fish's purring halted for a minute before starting up again. You shifted on his chest to look at him better. "A vasectomy?"
"I was thinking about it for the entirety of both car rides," he explained, petting your hair now. "To the drugstore and to get food. It's something I've considered before but I never really thought about it seriously until now."
You were still searching his eyes, perplexed as to why he'd jumped there of all places. Maybe later you would have suggested better protection, but never would you have asked this of him. It wouldn't even be something you'd have thought of on your own.
Alex cupped your cheek in his hand, and you leaned into it. His eyes didn't leave yours, making sure you were looking at him too. "Seeing you so worried...I never want you to feel that way again. And the procedure's reversable. We can do other things beforehand just in case it doesn't turn out to be. But..." he pursed his lips for a millisecond, letting out a breath. "If you ever take a pregnancy test again, I want you to be excited. Not scared."
Now your eyes were welling up again for an entirely different reason than earlier. You nodded, hand finding his on your face and squeezing. "Okay."
"Yeah?" Alex turned his hand around and brought yours to his lips. "You'll let me do this for you?"
"Yeah," you whispered, and he smiled, kissing your forehead and adjusting the blanket. Fish purred contently, rolling over onto his back, paws stretched out like he was reaching for the moon.
You kept your eyes open, content as could be. Alex lazily trailed his hand up and down your spine, and after a moment, he murmured, "We're going to save a fortune on condoms, baby."
A laugh passed your lips, and you hid your face in his chest, pressing your lips to his heart.
"I guess we will."

Maybe the angst could come from somewhere like Alex not thinking heโs good enough for you. You know at his core heโs a sweet insecure boy
:((( Worried you might find him boring or deserve to be with someone better.
โเฑจเงalex doesn't think he's good enough for youโเฑจเง fem reader x alex nilsen
The door to your apartment creaked just slightly when you pushed it open- no matter how many times you had tried to fix it the noise ensued. Gradually, you came to love it, thinking of it as a welcome home call.
Light and giddy from the two or three drinks in your system, you were practically walking on tiptoes as you glided through the open space. Alex trailed in behind you, gently shutting the door with a click. The keys clinked as he set them down on the table parallel to the door.
With a grand sigh, you flopped onto the couch, kicking off your shoes and lying sideways. The cushion dipped when Alex sat, and you rolled onto your belly to crawl forward slightly, so your head was resting on his lap. The skirt of your dress dragged up as you did, bunching up above your knees. His fingers came up, sliding into your hair and stroking idly.
He'd been quiet on the car ride home, and you'd assumed he was just focusing on driving. Besides, you didn't at all mind the quiet with him. They were more intimate than kisses, more telling than any psychiatric exam. It was one of your favorite things- how you could simply be with each other. Some of the best nights you could remember with him were when you were sitting at his side reading as he graded papers. There was no need to fill the air with pointless chatter.
Folding your arms on his thighs, you settled quietly, nuzzling into his leg. 'You okay?"
"Mhm," was his quiet response, and you lifted your head to meet his eyes.
"Are you sure?" You drew a figure eight on his leg. Suddenly the silence you'd enjoyed on the way home seemed tense and not warm. You remembered how dull his eyes on the road were, how his jaw had been clenched. Had someone said something at the bar? Was there something happening tomorrow that he was dreading? "You can tell me."
Alex stared into your eyes, something behind them making you straighten, propping your arms up on his legs to look at him more easily. "Alex..."
"Do you like being with me?" His question, though asked in soft tones, seemed to shake you to your core like an earthquake.
Your answer flew from your mouth before you could think about it. "Of course I do." Reaching for his hand, you squeezed his fingers. "I love you. Why do you ask?"
He exhaled quietly, lowering his gaze. "I...don't worry about it."
"I'm worried." You sat all the way up, still holding his hand. "What happened tonight?"
There was a gap between you and him right, one that made you want to bury yourself into him, curl into his side and hold on tight and never let go. But instead, you watched him formulate, letting him gather whatever it is he wanted to say. That was Alex's way. He never said a thing without thinking.
"Watching you," he started, looking down at your joined hands and rubbing his thumb over your knuckle. "You just...you light up every room you're in. Everywhere we go people fall in love with you, rightfully so. But I..." His eyes raised to yours. "I don't understand why you're with me."
You were touched by his sweet words, but they were tainted by the other half of them. "Alex, what are you talking about? I love you. I'm with you because I love you."
"I'm boring. And plain, and dull," he insisted, shaking his head. "My perfect night is staying in and reading, I teach for a living for goodness sakes. You...you deserve someone who shines as bright as you do."
It stunned you, every word that fell from his lips. All you could do was stare at him, brow furrowed, heart aching. This was truly what he thought?
Right though he was about the two of you being opposites in some ways, you hated the way he made it sound like a bad thing. You loved that he was different than you, loved that he was smart and sure of himself. Besides that, Alex gave you a love that you hadn't thought was real until you met him. He quietly decoded you, dug into the crevices of your soul that nobody had bothered to see before. They were neglected, wilting like flowers in the winter, and he'd nourished them back to full bloom.
Never before had you thought him boring. Never had you resented him for wanting to stay in for a night, as you were content with any circumstances so long as he was there. He was the one you loved, and that couldn't and wouldn't ever change.
You reached up, sliding your hand to his face and rubbing his perfect cheekbone. "You do. You shine. And the way you do only makes me love you more."
He touched your hand. "I don't-"
"Maybe you don't see it," you cut him off. "But I do. I love every part of you, no matter how imperfect you think you are. The truth is that I don't deserve you. You're good, better than anybody knows."
"That doesn't mean anything," he whispered.
"It means everything." Shifting on the couch, you climbed into his lap, legs on either side of his thighs. Now both hands were on his cheeks, and his fingers were drawn like magnets to your waist. Making sure he was looking at you, you said, "I'd stay in every night of the week if it meant I'd always get to be around you. I love how passionate you are about teaching a subject you care about. Seeing you so happy with it makes you shine in and of itself. And you called yourself plain? Alex..." you shook your head, corners of your mouth twitching up. "If you'd ever seen yourself, you would know that is not true. Not even a little bit."
He couldn't help a slight smile at that, and you sighed in relief, wrapping your arms around his neck and burying your face there. "I could never really express how much you mean to me. Never. There aren't good enough words and I'm not good enough with words. You have my whole heart and I don't want it back."
"Baby-" His arms sheathed you fully, his chin finding a place on your shoulder. You swore you felt a kiss pressed to the curve of your neck. "I love you. So much."
You pulled back, smiling and pushing his hair from his face. "I love you."
Leaning in, he pressed a kiss to your mouth, thumbs caressing up and down. "You're sweet. Too sweet." With the tiniest of smirks, he asked, "What was that you were saying about seeing myself?"
"Like you don't know you're hot," you giggled, resting your head on his shoulder.
Alex let a chuckle slip, big hand smoothing over your hair. "Ah well, I wouldn't dream of bragging." He leaned his cheek on your head. "You're so gorgeous I guess I'd have to be."
"Hmm." You cuddled into him, letting his arms smooth over whatever leftover tension lingered, as you slipped back into that delicious quiet you relished with him. Just being.

millie i feel like you should write about giving alex a back massage because that anxious boy would have the most tense shoulders in the world and heโd be complaining about you taking care of him the whole time until you get a lil flirty about it and then heโs just blushing hehe
โเฑจเงyou give alex a back rubโเฑจเง fem reader x alex nilsen
"You look tense."
Alex looked up from where he was staring at his laptop, brow already furrowed. "I'm not."
A breathy laugh of disbelief escaped you. "Alex. You've been hunched over for hours. Of course you are."
He shifted his shoulders, as if trying to feel the stiffness. "Maybe a little. It's okay."
You set your book aside, crawling towards him on the couch. He lifted his arm without you even asking, a habit that would be hard to kill at this point. Settling yourself under it, you murmured, "You've been working so hard." One of your hands came up to his chest, rubbing it. "You're stressed."
He caught your hand in his, lifting it to his lips. "I'm fine, baby. You're the one who's supposed to be relaxing." After a long, stressful week, Alex had sat you down on the couch next to him, insisting that you rest, something neither of you ever did.
"I'm rested." You sat up, resting your chin on his shoulder and giving him a pleading look. "Can I give you a rub? Please?"
"Baby-" Alex's lips poised to form a no, but then he caught the look on your face, pausing. You were gazing up at him through your lashes, lips slightly pouted. He gave a hefty sigh, shutting his laptop and setting it on the coffee table. "Fine."
A smile sprang to your lips, and you tugged on his shirt. "Will you take this off?"
He gave you a look, but obliged, leaving him only in his grey sweatpants. "What kind of rub is this, baby?"
"A good one." You stood up. "Lie down? On your stomach."
He did, but not without a little huff that made you laugh. You positioned yourself so you were sitting on his bottom, leaning in to start massaging his shoulders. Alex exhaled through his nose, resting his chin on his folded arms. "I should be doing this for you."
"And deprive me of the chance to see you shirtless? Alex Nilsen, I didn't know you were so cruel."
Alex turned his head to the side, and you could see the blush coloring his cheeks. "You see me like that all the time."
"Doesn't mean I don't wanna see it again," you said, shifting where you were sitting and leaning down to press a kiss between his shoulder blades. "You're hot."
"Maybe you should take your shirt off to even the odds," Alex murmured, his words hazy. You smiled, knowing the massage was working.
"I'm not wearing a bra."
"Neither am I."
A laugh tumbled from your mouth, and you smoothed your hands over his shoulders, getting off his back and kissing the crown of his head. "All done. Does that feel better?"
He sat up, stretching and nodding. "Yes." Alex leaned in and kissed you, nudging his nose to your cheek. "Thank you baby."
"Hmm." You hummed, pleased that you'd helped him.
Alex reached for you, pulling you into his lap and kissing your head. "Angel. You always know what I need." You snuggled into his chest, nuzzling your cheek to his bare pec. He tugged at the sleeve of your shirt. "Off?"
You lifted your head, eyebrows raised. and he smiled, looking a little sleepy. "Not like that. Just wanna hold you-" he yawned. "Skin-to-skin."
His reasoning made you smile, and you pulled the hem of your t-shirt up, exposing your breasts, tossing it to the side with his. Alex laid back down, pulling you into him so your tummy was pressed against his. He snatched the blanket hanging over the couch arm and flung it out by one corner, so it covered you both. The feeling of the blanket over your bare skin was comforting, and you let your legs tangle with his.
Pressing a kiss over his heart, you murmured. "Was this what you really wanted? Cuddles?"
"Cuddles," he confirmed, tucking your head under his chin.

๊ฃเงเฑจเงyou and alex get lost in a corn maze๊ฃเงเฑจเง fem reader x alex nilsen
The sun was turning the clouds a delightful shade of pink, like cotton candy was spun right in the sky from the hands of some deity. Cornstalks poked into the vision, spanning far above Alex's head and even further above yours.
You poked your head around the path corner, groaning when a dead end met your eyes. "No, this one's a bust."
"Shoot." Alex scratched his head, turning around and looking behind him. "How far back was the last trail marker?"
"I dunno." You pulled your jacket tighter around you, rubbing your palms together. "Maybe ten minutes?"
"Huh." He squinted into the distance, bumping your shoulder playfully. "I kinda feel like we're in the apocalypse."
"Soon we'll have to eat each other to stay alive."
"I'll take your left hand and you can have mine."
"How chivalrous." You shivered, and he pulled you into a hug, rubbing your arms. "We might have to burn the maze down to stay warm."
"At least we'd see the way out," he murmured, and you giggled. Alex looked down at you like you were utterly adorable, smoothing the back of your head.
You sighed, burying your face in his chest. "You are the only person in the world I'd want to be lost in a corn maze for three hours with."
"Be still my heart," Alex teased, and you hmphed, smiling up at him.
You looped your arm with his since you hadn't passed anybody in the maze for the entire time you'd been here. "C'mon, handsome. Let's get outta here so we can find some hot cider or something."
Alex's cheeks flushed just a little, and you laughed, tugging him along. Truthfully, even though it was getting dark, you weren't at all worried. If three hours had been ten, it wouldn't feel like much at all so long as you were with him.
You began to stand on tiptoes at different intervals, trying to see either through or over the feathery cornstalks. Both attempts failed.
He chuckled watching you. "Need some help there, baby?"
"Uh huh." You turned to him, bouncing on your tiptoes. He grinned, positioning his hands on your hips and hoisting you up, so your legs were hooked over his hips, clasped in the back. You craned your neck, bracing your arms around his neck and leaning in to kiss his nose.
Alex turned around so you could see ahead on the path. You craned your neck, looking around. "This is what you see all the time? The ground is this far away?"
"I guess so, cutie," he smiled. "See a way out?"
"No," you said, sighing and letting him bring you down. "Guess we'll have to get out the old-fashioned way."
You wandered ahead of him, practically skipping as you turned corners in the maze. The sunset illuminated you as you trudged around, humming something to yourself. When you turned around to look at Alex. He smiled wide. "I'll just follow you, babe."
And follow you he did, letting you take the lead and wander your way around. It felt like a game of chase, and you stopped, scrunching your nose. "I think we're almost there."
"Victory." Alex grinned at you as your arm linked through his once more. "Knew you could get us outta here."
"I followed my instincts," you chirped, turning the corner to see the brilliant sight of the exit. Squealing excitedly, you turned to him. "We did it!"
"Good job, baby." Alex kissed your forehead once, and you leaned against him, giving him a loving look. When he touched your hand, his blue eyes widened. "Your hands are cold."
"A little bit." You shrugged.
Alex put your hand in his closest pocket, wrapping an arm around your waist and rubbing your side. "Let's go get you a hot drink."
Guiding you over to the stand selling donuts and cider, he left you under one of the heat lamps radiating warmth from the top with the promise of food and drink.
As you waited, you watched the glowing orb of the sun sink delightfully down under the hills, the moon beginning to appear, early stars dotting the paint palette smeared across the sky. It was beautiful- all of it. You folded your arms over yourself, smiling at the sight.
When Alex returned, he pressed a hot cup of cider into your hands, holding one of his own. "Drink up. Want your insides warm too." You smiled when he put an arm around your shoulders, bringing you right up close. You took a sip of your drink, humming delightedly as it sent a hot chill down your spine.
"Thank you," you murmured, resting your chin on his shoulder.
If the two of you were alone he would have kissed you. "You're welcome."

love that your mind went there and loved yours for billy - yes plz alex with a girl who gets panic attacks
โเฑจเงalex comforts you after you have a panic attackโเฑจเง fem reader x alex nilsen (tw- description of a panic attack)
The car ride was lengthy, only adding to your anxieties piling up on each other. Your knee bounced where you sat in the passenger seat, and every sense in your being became as blurry as the scenery whipping by.
Reasoning unknown, drives, especially long ones, had always put you on edge. You had a childhood history of panic attacks both great and small, your family determining the root of the cause rather quickly.
Traffic, though lengthy, hadn't been as great a burden as Alex had predicted, and now the two of you were sailing down the highway. He'd turned the radio back on, switching to a station you liked. It was touching he knew such a little detail about you since your relationship was newly minted. But right now you could hardly focus on the sweetness of the gesture. The music was only adding to your panic, flowing through your ears as noise rather than melody.
It seemed as though you'd tried everything. Clenching and unclenching your fists, breathing in and out, counting to a hundred. None of it was working, your frenzied mind only working itself up more over the fact that you weren't feeling better.
Alex reached over, settling a hand on your thigh and keeping one hand on the wheel, his eyes flickering from the empty highway briefly to look at you. "Everything okay, baby? You're quiet."
"Mhm." You were hardly capable of words, mind too preoccupied with your internal struggle. It felt as though there were walls closing in around you, the air draining from an invisible oxygen tank.
Besides your inability to express yourself, you didn't want Alex to know of your struggle. It felt like too big a thing to thrust on him so soon into this. Even though you'd known him for years before kissing for the first time, never once had you needed to breach the subject. Your little quirk remained just that, and your pain was silent. But now it was being tested.
It was as though the tension in your body was radiating outwards, energy grabbing hold of everything surrounding you. Your heart thrummed mercilessly in the chamber of your chest, only serving as a reminder of your panic. You took in a shaky breath through your nose, releasing it from your barely parted lips. It was fruitless, just like the last hundred intakes you'd attempted.
When the car hit a slight bump in the pavement, every facet of self control went out the window. Your hand flew to his on your thigh, squeezing, nails biting his knuckles, a single word escaping in a whimper you immediately regretted. "Alex."
He fully took his eyes from the road, going round as twin full moons as he took in the state of you. In a smooth movement, he turned the wheel, swerving to the side of the road. You were already letting go of his hand, pushing the car door open and stumbling out, hands finding their way around your waist as you heaved for breath. It felt like emerging to the surface after drowning.
Your hair fell over your face like two curtains as you bent your neck, breaths gaining tone at their severity. Tears stung your eyes, not only from your distress, but from the shock of embarrassment that radiated through your body like a heat wave. All this fuss over a little car ride? You were reminded painfully that you didn't even know why.
Footsteps pattered behind you, and then the steady comfort of your boyfriend was right at your side, taking one of your hands in his. "Hey...it's okay. What do you need?"
You let out a choked cry, turning suddenly into his arms and burying your face in his chest. His arms immediately slid around you, holding your shaky body gently, as if he wasn't sure what to do. Alex pressed a kiss to your hair, rubbing your back carefully. "Shh, I've got you. I've got you."
An unidentified amount of time passed with him simply holding you, whispering something sweet into your hair every so often. You sniffled, lifting your head. He was looking right at you, eyes filled to the brim with concern. You flushed, remembering your humiliation.
"Hey-" Alex settled his hand on your crown when you rested your face back into his chest. "It's okay. You know that, right?"
"I'm sorry-" you started, but he shook his head, cutting you off.
"Don't. Please." He stroked your hair soothingly. "You can't control it." Alex pressed a hand to your spine, rubbing without moving his hand. "Do you know why it happened?"
"Car rides," you mumbled. "I always get anxious during car rides. Long ones."
He drew back to look at you. "Why didn't you say anything? Baby-" The look on your face told him everything he needed to know. "What will help you? How can it be better?"
You sniffled, swiping a hand under your eye to catch a fallen tear. "Breaks help. So I can stretch my legs. Really I would have been fine but..."
"The traffic," Alex concluded, exhaling softly. "Oh, baby..." His fingers lightly trailed from side to side, gracing your shoulder blades. Resting your head on his shoulders, you let the remnants of your hiccups fade away. He pressed his lips to your hair, nose nudging your part. "How about we make a deal?"
You lifted your chin. "A deal?"
"Mhm." His fingers are tracing your jaw, thumb rubbing the bone. "You tell me when you're not feeling safe, and I'll help you."
"That's not really a deal." You furrowed your brow. "That's-"
He raised his eyebrows at you, a skeptical look on his face. "It's a deal. You get to feel safe and I get to not feel guilty about you suffering in silence."
You pursed your lips, moved by his point. "Fine. Deal."
"Yeah? Good?" Alex held your head to his lips, kissing your forehead firmly. "You put up with my anxiety enough, so I'll help you with yours. That's what boyfriends do."
"I'm not putting up with anything," you shook your head. "I love you, it's not-" you cut yourself off, realizing what he was saying. "Oh."
"Uh huh." He was smiling now, swaying you back and forth. "This is us, baby. We help each other."
Your worries had such an effect on you that it was hard to believe that anyone would bear your burdens alongside you. But here Alex was, cupping your cheeks in his big hands, searching your eyes and asking if you'd be okay driving a few more miles and then he'd stop and get you something to eat. That he'd make sure to drive slower, and would it make your anxiety worse if he drove with only one hand so he could hold yours?
Shaking your head, you leaned into him, taking a deep breath and letting his scent wash over you. In his arms you forgot your panic for the first time in the longest while. In his arms, all was well.

HES SUCH A GENTLEMAN AGGHHHHH๐ญ๐ญ
still have yet to read the book yet (probably will this weekend) but maybe something like you getting hurt on your vacation?? like i can imagine maybe you step on coral and get your foot cut real bad and so then there is the comforty fluffy part of him carrying you around so you donโt have to walk after the angst of him trying to get you to relax when youโre panicking at all the blood (little no clue if this is in character but itโs cute regardless lmao)
this is from. a long time ago. but it's cute I love you Phantom๐ซถ
โเฑจเงyou get hurt on vacation with alexโเฑจเง fem reader x alex nilsen
Blood on the floor. You cursed yourself when you saw it trickling from your shoe, trying to lift your foot so there was less damage. The motel staff had enough to deal with without you bleeding all over the place.
Limping to the bathroom, you clenched your jaw as the pain sharpened on the underside of your foot. Trying to take deep breaths, you sat on the counter, leaning back against the mirror. It was cool against your head, and you tried to focus on that.
Your heart was stuttering in your chest as your breathing became shaky. Still salt-combed from the sea, your hair was dripping pearls of water down your shoulders onto your breasts. You hadn't bothered to put your shorts or tank top back on, mind too preoccupied with the problem at hand.
Were there even bandages in here? You doubted it. Kicking off your ruined shoes, you bent your leg so the damaged foot was resting on the counter. Reaching for a washcloth, you cringed as your blood stained it, but held it in place, putting pressure on the wound. Biting the inside of your cheek when the fabric met the gash, you bit the inside of your cheek. It hurt, more than you'd have expected it to.
The door opened and shut, and you barely noticed. Eyes closed, you were trying to center yourself, somehow make the pain go away. Maybe if you focused, you would get used to it.
"Babe?"
You looked up, accidentally letting a tear slide down your cheek. It could have been mistaken for the other droplets on your face. Alex was standing in the bathroom doorway in his running shorts and shirt, earbuds and phone in hand. His collar was sweaty, hair sticking to his forehead. Seeing his furrowed brow, you had the urge to smooth it out with your thumb.
"I'm okay Alex, I just-" He was already coming over, setting his phone on the counter with a clatter and leaning over to examine your foot. The washcloth had a big red spot in it where the blood had soaked through.
He tried to be gentle as he peeled it away, but you whimpered, grabbing his wrist. "Don't."
"Shh, I know, I know it hurts," he soothed, voice soft. Alex very carefully removed the rest, your hand squeezing his wrist the whole time. You took in shaky breaths as he held your foot, lowering it from the counter as he knelt in front of you. His touch was so delicate that you almost cried for a different reason. When he looked up at you, blue eyes so worried, you did shed another tear and he lifted his other hand to your knee, rubbing gently. "What happened?"
Sniffling, you brushed away another tear. Somehow his presence numbed some of the pain. Or maybe it was your anxiety put at ease because he was here. Either way, you didn't feel as hopeless anymore. "I just wanted to go swimming...and when I got out...there was a sharp rock and I didn't see it..." You swallowed, trying not to cry more. "This is gonna ruin the rest of our trip-"
"No, no," Alex shook his head, his expression reassuring. "Sweetheart, it's not gonna ruin anything. This is just another adventure, okay?" His thumb drew a soothing pattern into your knee. "We're gonna laugh about this someday, right?" He was repeating something you'd said to him several times when something bad happened, and it made your lips turn up a tiny bit.
Alex reached for a clean washcloth, folding it over and holding it carefully to your wound. He leaned up, kissing your knee, resting his chin there. Your shoulders slumped and you smoothed back his hair, as a distraction. Leaning his head forward, he dropped his lips to your lower thigh, nose smushing there.
For a moment it was just that- his head on your leg, hands gently holding the washcloth to your foot. You breathed in softly, the weight of his head on your bare leg a comforting thing.
Lifting his head, Alex put one hand on your knee, scratching gently as he took another look at the gash. "Okay. It doesn't look too deep, it's just bleeding a lot." He reached for your hand, kissing the knuckles. "I'm gonna go see if the front desk has any bandages, okay? Will you be alright for a minute?" When you nodded, he tucked your leg back into its original position, making sure you were holding the washcloth before he let go.
Kissing you on the forehead, he left with the promise to be back soon. You breathed easier, leaning against the mirror again. It was miraculous how he could fix what had felt like the end of the world.
When he returned, bandages in hand, it was like your guardian angel had arrived. Alex stood this time, dabbing medicine onto the gash, wrapping your foot snugly and bending over to kiss it once he was done. "There. All better, cutie." He hooked his hands under your knees, sliding you forward so they were hooked around his hips. "C'mere."
You sniffled, leaning into him as he hugged you tight, hardly registering how sweaty he still was. With your head in the crook of his shoulder, you realized now it was less leftover from his run and more because he was worried. You clung to him tighter once you realized.
He pressed a kiss to your temple, rubbing his hand up your back. "I'm gonna shower really quick. Do you wanna go back to the bedroom or stay here?"
"Here," you decided immediately, crossing your ankles over his back.
"Okay." Alex squeezed your thigh, gently removing your legs and disappearing into the other room. He kicked off his running shoes on the way, leaving them by the door. You heard the drawers opening and closing, and then he was returning with clothes for both of you, underwear included. "Here, you can take your swimsuit off." He chucked you under the chin, thumb lingering. "It looks pretty, but I know you wanna get out of it."
Smiling lovingly at him, you returned his kiss when he gave it. While he stripped himself of his clothes, you worked your swimsuit off, replacing it with your underwear. He handed you your hairbrush when you reached for it, leaning over to start the shower. You pulled the brush through your hair, giving him a squinty-eyed smile when he kissed your cheek before pulling back the curtain and getting in.
He showered quickly, and when he got out, hair curly and sticking to his forehead, you were fully dressed, hair brushed out and drying. Alex toweled off and pulled his clothes on, reaching for you and murmuring, "Still hurting?"
"A little," you admitted, not wanting to make it seem worse than it really was. "Just...it's okay. I can probably walk on it."
"Uh uh." Alex pulled you forward and re-wrapped your legs around him. "You shouldn't have to walk at all right now." He lifted you off the counter, carrying you into the next room. When you opened your mouth to protest, he silenced you with a kiss to your nose. "I took my pills. It's fine."
Though the logistics were shaky, the walk was so short that you didn't say anything more. He set you down, easing a pillow under your foot and grabbing his laptop, starting to type with one hand while sliding his other arm around you. "We'll watch one movie and then we can try walking, okay?"
You cuddled under his arm, pressing a kiss to his chest and resting your head there. Already, your foot was starting to throb a little less. He kissed your forehead as the opening credits began to roll on his laptop, running his hand up and down your arm.
His skin was warm from his shower, and you inhaled softly, the scent of his soap only calming you further. And as he held you close, checking in every few minutes and looking over at your foot, you got the overwhelming sense that he would always take care of you.
No matter what.

All the students at East Linfield High knew never, ever, to go even near the Literature classroom during lunch.ย
The seniors knew exactly why so they warned the younger students, drilling into them not to even think about getting anywhere close to the Literature classroom during lunch.
Yet, every year, thereโs always a group of ballsy freshmen and sophomores that walk by the classroom. Giggling and tiptoeing their way through the hallways, inching closer and closer to the classroom when theyโd hear laughter. The students would stall outside the door when even more laughter would escape the room, actually even smells of wonderful food would escape the room.
They would stop, look at each other, before peaking into the room noticing their Computer Science teacher laughing it away with the Literature teacher.
They would smile softly as the two teachers joked around, dancing around the classroom, and kiss so softly. Their chests would swell with jealousy at the two adultsโ love for each other.
And what a love it was you two had. You and Alex had known each other forever, having gone to University of Chicago where Alex also had gone. You two took your core classes together, scheduling your days to be aligned so you two could hang out with each other. But, when you two had to go into more major specific classes, you two split. Like a Kit-Kat, except one side didnโt have any wafers while one side didnโt have any chocolate.ย
It was sad to say the least, both of you felt a part of your heart being chiseled out of your hearts. You were never the same, even when you eventually found a job at East Linfield High just two years after getting your degree in Computer Sciences.
Your parents found it quite odd moving to Linfield, Ohio of all places.
To you, it just felt right.ย
Especially, a few years after starting as the sole Computer Science teacher, when you spectacularly find out that the new English teacher was actually your best friend by bumping into him, making the orange juice in his hands spill all over his fresh button down shirt he had worn for his first day.ย
Alex had been just as surprised to see you, unsure of what to do when he found himself looking down at you. Memories started rushing back, his blood rushing as he finally saw you. Memories of late night study sessions, of early morning runs together (occasionally), of laughter in your dorm room. Memories of warm cuddles, soft smiles, and loving hugs. Memories of near kisses and confessions that never quite made it out either of your lips.ย
You took one look at his hazel eyes and brunette hair and fell all over again. Your heart tripped in your chest, your mouth slightly open, ready to say hi or something yet nothing came out.
You two just smiled at each other for a second, taking in each other once more. You laughed jumping up into his arms, orange juice soaked shirt be damned. You squealed, jumping up into his arms nuzzling his neck, breathing him in. Alex sighed, pressing his nose against your hair. He held you steadyfast, his strong arms wrapped around your middle, hoisting you up.ย
โOi, get a room! Teacher meeting starts soon!โ Your colleague, one of the other English teachers, yells at you two. You two laugh, Alex setting you down.
He nuzzles his nose against yours, โOrange you glad to see me?โ
โAlex, we have to get back to teaching classes.โ You whine into his shoulder, the soft polyester cotton mix muffling your voice slightly.ย
He laughs, pressing his lips to yourย forehead again. โAre you sure? Iโm sure those seniors could do without me for a class period.โ
โAlex,โ you look up at him meeting his hazelnut eyes, โthe tenth graders definitely need me. Thereโs no way Iโm just gonna throw Java at them without showing them what the hell it all means, I don't think you would want to have Java just thrown at you, would you?โ
โNo youโre absolutely right darling, I wouldnโt want java thrown at me.โ Alex smirks, a knowing smile playing on his lips.
You chuckle, โBabe, are you sure you know what Java is?โ
He nuzzles your nose, kissing you softly on the lips, โNope, not a clue.โ
You laugh, the school bell ringing signaling the start of the passing period. You press another kiss to his lips before leaving his classroom, your dressโ skirt swishing at your shins.
You walk to your classroom, waving at past students and smiling at others. You finally get to your room, set your bag down and get started with class.
โAnd donโt forget the homework! Itโs a free response question where you write the class and the methods, okay? Donโt forget!โ You remind your students as they start to file out of the classroom.
โMiss?โ Sandy, one of your lovely junior students, walks up to you with her other friends Jameson and Nico.
โHmm, yes Sandy? What can I do for you?โ
โI was just wondering if you had any plans for Halloween. Itโs coming up soon and we have this class that day so I was wondering if we are actually going to do some more coding and Java work or if we could maybe do a Halloween themed class?โ
You laugh, โYes, donโt worry, Halloween wonโt be too intense, I promise. And while we will be doing some coding, the overall activity for that day is very much spooky themed.โ
โAre you doing a couple costumes with Mr.Nilsen?โ Nico asks, the dear already a senior taking Lit with Alex.
โMaybe? Do you have any suggestions because me and him havenโt really talked about it.โ
โOHH!โ Sandy exclaims, โYou two should definitely do like a Disney couple, those ones are always so cute!โ
โOr you two could do a spooky themed costume like the Corpse Bride.โ Nico smiles.
You smile right back, your next class already filing in. โIโll definitely talk to Alex about those suggestions. Now, run along to class.โ
They laugh, walking slowly to the door with a loud โThank you!โ
You and Alex lay on your shared bed, the silky green sheets wrinkling underneath your figures. Alexโs breaths came out labored as you stood, turning on his very fancy humidifier adding essential oils. You grab a shirt, throwing it on.
โYou look so beautiful baby.โ He murmurs as you lay back down next to him.
โRight back atcha tiger.โ You smile, resting your head on his chest, the rising and falling of his chest comforting.
โHey Alex?โ
โYes darling?โ
โWould you do a couple costumes with me?โ You sit up, resting on one elbow, your other hand tracing lazy patterns along his neck to his collarbone.
โOf course I would. Wouldnโt be particularly good but yeah, Iโll do it.โ
โReally?โ
โOf course, itโs you after all.โ
You laugh, poking his chest. โAwww, someone loves me. You would suffer through a costume for me? How adorable.โ
โUgh, how you mock me, woman.โ
You laugh, your head falling back to the bed. Alex starts tickling your sides causing you to nearly fall off the bed and turn like a capsizing boat. You shriek as he tickles your belly button. Alex hovers over you, his lips falling to yours.
โOf course I love you. Unless, I need to fuck you again just to remind you, hmm? Bet you would like that, freak.โ
You laugh even more, wrapping your arms around his neck and locking your legs around his waist.
โAre you sure this is a good idea?โ
You turn to Alex, his hair all gelled up. He wore a dark turquoise vest with dark brown trousers a white shirt underneath. Of course, he still wore his loafers for โprofessionalismโ.
โOf course, why wouldnโt it be? Besides, itโs our first couple costume and dare I say we look stunning and nailed it?โ
He looks at you, his eyes glittering with adoration as he stares at you in your periwinkle purple dress, a green plushie sitting on your shoulders.
โI think itโs a bit premature to say that we โnailed itโ darling, or should I say princess?โ
You chuckle, your Tangled inspired costume coming together. You had even worn a small tiara you had laying around to complete the look, the Pascal plushie you wore on your shoulder a souvenir from a trip to Tokyo Disneyland a few years ago.ย
โI think princess fits a little too well. Beware Alex, I may get used to that nickname.โ
โPrincess, it would not be an issue if you did.โ
You laugh putting on your matching purple heels, grabbing your bag as Alex slings his over his shoulder. He grabs his keys, swiping the lunch you had prepared for the two of you off the counter.
You locked the door, walking to Alexโs car where Alex sat behind the wheel as he did every morning. You only ever drove when Alex couldnโt or on the weekend where you would take your SUV around town.
As Alex started to drive, he played Halloweeny music.
โAre we still on for lunch?โ You ask him. He glances over to you as he makes a turn.
โUm, yes? I mean, we can meet in your room this time if that is what you mean.โ
โNo Alex, I meant, are we still going through the studentsโ haunted house at lunch?โ
โOh right,โ he laughs, rubbing his neck with his hand, โum, sure. But, what if thereโs a long line?โ
โThen, we wait like any other person.โ
โAre you sure darling? What if we donโt get to eat after?โ
โAlex, stop overthinking this. If you think we wonโt have enough time then we donโt have to go babe, I donโt mind.โ You grab his hand clutching the gear shift.
โNo, we should go. Iโm sorry baby.โ He lifts your hand, kissing your knuckles gently as he pulls up to the admin parking.
โAre you sure? We really donโt have to.โ
โNo, I want to, promise. Weโll meet up outside your room since itโs closer to the library where the haunted house is set up.โ
โMโkay!โ
Finally, the morning classes were over and it was lunch. You were still fixing your dress, which many students complimented you on, recognizing the Disney princess you were dressed up as quickly. You rushed, grabbing your phone and classroom keys before locking your door and waiting outside for Alex.
โPrincess, my love, I have arrived.โ Alex played a fake fanfare as you smiled, starting to walk over to him.
Students gasp as they finally see you and Alex in your matching costumes, your arm looping through his. You two happily walk through the halls, asking each other about the otherโs day, passing snacks back and forth as you walk to the library.ย
Outside the entrance door stood at least 15 students away. Alex shook his head, a sly grin on his face.
โWhat is it Alex? And if you say โI told you soโ, you can count yourself girlfriend-less very soon.โ
He laughs, some students around you snickering at your antics. โOf course not princess, I was just about to say that you look particularly gorgeous this afternoon. It would be my greatest honor to take such a maiden to lunch.โ He dramatizes, his hand taking yours to kiss the ring you wore.
You and the other girls around you giggle, accepting Alexโs offer.
You have to admit, dating one of your colleagues has its pros such as lunch time. You two always always spent lunch together, watching some TV while eating whatever you had prepared or what Alex had ordered, or perhaps even catching up some work in silence as you two ate. But, there were also cons.ย
Very large and apparent cons.
Such as the female student population crushing on your boyfriend. Of course, you knew how fit he was, the man runs every morning without fail (unless his back pain ramps up again in which case you have to take care of him, usually leaving home, calling for a sub). You also knew that he was incredibly handsome, outside and in. He was kind and sort of dumb but in the most endearing way ever. Alex was just so incredible, so loving that you knew everyone could see it on his face when he looked at you from across the hall.
So of course, you had to stake your claim every now and then. And now was a time to assert your position as โAlex Nilsenโs one and ONLY girlfriendโ but lifting yourself up onto your tip toes and kissing him.
All the girls around you shrieked, the boys (and other younger students) gagging in โdisgustโ. Alex just smiled against your lips, hugging your waist. He dropped his bag softly onto the floor, hoisting you up slightly as he kissed you softly.
โI love you.โ
You smile, dropping down onto your heels, โI love you.โ
He smiles so quietly but the love you felt at the moment was anything but. It was loud and larger than life.
He pulled out the lunch you made that morning and took a spoonful, giving it to you. You two slowly but surely advanced the line, the number of students in front of you slowly dwindling lower and lower. Finally, you made it to the door without choking on your mouthful of food as you watched him awkwardly interact with the sophomore girls around him.
โMr.Nilsen!โ The senior manning the door greeted your boyfriend.
โHi there Moon, howโs your day going?โ
โWell good, I have to admit. It has been very fun seeing everyoneโs reactions to the haunted house.โ
โThat's fun.โ
โWell, you and Miss can go in now. Have a good scare!โ
โThank you Moon, see you later in class.โ He waved to the senior.
Your heartbeat slightly, slightly, increases. โAlex, what did she mean by โhave a good scareโ?โ
โOh Iโm sure itโs nothing. They were head of the committee this year and decided to up the scare factor of the haunted house this year is all.โ
โMhmm.โ You gulped. You start to walk slowly through the haunted library, following the path illuminated by the glow sticks lining the floor.
Suddenly, eerie music starts playing. A groan coming from in front of you takes you by surprise, causing you to yelp and hold onto Alexโs arm.
He chuckles, โPrincess, you canโt seriously be scared by the fake groaning and music, right?โ
โHmm, oh yea, pshhh nope, doesn't scare me.โ
Immediately you curse your words for jinxing it because as soon as you let out a sigh of relief, an animal masked figure jumps up in front of you, screaming at you causing you to shriek and jump. Alex tenses beside you but laughs it off wrapping his arm around your waist, slowly pushing you faster through the maze of jump scares. More students dressed up in animal motif horror masks jump up from behind curtains and other furniture.
Finally, a student greets you at the end, your blood still humming in your veins. The student holds out a bowl of candy in front of you and Alex and you hurriedly take a random piece of candy before rushing through the exit door before someone else could jump scare you.
โWoah, slow down darling.โ
โSlow down?!? Slow down, I need my heart to slow down. I feel like I could run a marathon right now from all this adrenaline.โ You say looking down at the chocolate flavored lollipop in your hands, disappointment filling your veins. โLook I was scared so shitless I grabbed a chocolate flavored lollipop, a chocolate flavored lollipop! Who even likes these things?โ
โDarling, Iโm sure there is a Karen out there whose favorite candy is chocolate flavored lollipops. What matters is we got to go through the studentsโ great haunted house seeing as it โscared you shitlessโ.โ
โOh, do not mock me, Alex Nilsen. Youโll regret it.โ
โDarling, I could never regret anything with you.โ
โI hate you, Alexโ You crash into him, hugging him fiercely, your heart starting to slow down.
โI love you too, princess.โ
i sincerely apologize if you like chocolate flavored lollipops, i promise I don't think ya'll are karens i just don't understand but i promise, no hate. hope you enjoyed!
