Nel 2023, finalmente, ho superato le 10 mila pagine lette, arrivando a quota 11336. Era un piccolo limite personale, niente di competitivo, ma il fatto di aver cambiato metodo di lettura mi ha aiutato nell'intento. Quest'anno ho letto anche libri su consigli di amici di Tumblr, uno tra questi è stato un regalo graditissimo. Per quelle vie misteriose e magiche che i libri ti fanno seguire, a volte ho comprato, senza saperlo, libri che sono complementari per tematiche e trame. Obiettivo del prossimo anno è leggere un classico a trimestre. Se ci sono curiosità sui titoli, chiedete!

Well, I think I've officially decided I'm changing my world state for my first playthrough of Veilguard!

I decided against using Rogues Gallery, for two reasons:

I still haven't finished Calla Cadash's playthrough. I know, I'm terrible to this girl. I swear I will eventually but I don't want to have to rush through it.

Solas... hates Calla. lmao. I'll be shocked if she even gets the redeem option in Trespasser, with how low his approval is. And I think that's interesting and I'll really enjoy playing with it for a future playthrough... but for my first, I really do want to play with an Inquisitor who wants to save him. Doesn't need to be romanced; I just want to play a worldstate where the Inquisitor thinks there's hope for him, an option I love with Solas friendship (I actually prefer the friendship redemption dialogue in Trespasser to the romance dialogue).

That makes Eleanor Trevelyan the perfect Inquisitor. She was also the first Inquisitor I actually finished! And honestly I love her world state, and I think I'll really enjoy building on it. She romanced Sera, disbanded the Inquisition and all other things being equal would really rather settle down with her wife--except that she swore to show her friend Solas that this world is worth saving, and she hasn't forgotten that promise. I think that however big or small the Inquisitor's presence in the actual game, I can make it work for her.

I will probably have to play a little loose with the theme of that world state to make it work, because previously it was romancing city elves (Zevran, Fenris, and Sera) and aside from the fact I don't want to pick a romance ahead of time, I don't think we even have a city elf romance option (Davrin and Bellara both seem to be of Dalish origin). The option I see is to simply play a city elf Rook. With Rook's origins focusing on factions, and not culture of origins, that should work. So it's looking like my first Rook will be an elf!

In that world state, Ilana Tabris is a rogue, while Alessandra Hawke and Eleanor Trevelyan are both mages. I think their Rook will probably also be a rogue. As for origin, I've been leaning toward Lord of Fortune as they just sound fun. But we'll see if anything else catches my eye. Still not making any major decisions about personality or backstory until I have the character creator in hand! I haven't even picked a gender; I do usually play a female character first, but I might not this time; we'll see.

Background and Personality

Raphael and his twin sister Alessandra were left on the steps of the Pandora orphanage when they were only a few weeks old. They lived there until they were three years old. Lady Victoria and Lady Elizabeth were originally planning on adopting just Alessandra but decided to adopt Raffi as well when they learned that he was Allie's twin. The twins were then raised and educated in Vanlintina manor alongside their siblings. When Raffi was seventeen he was kidnapped by Reginald Bastian, a wizard who had been driven mad by his own experiments. He saw kidnapping Raffi as a way to get revenge on his mothers because they had refused to fund his experiments. Raffi's parents sent guards to rescue him, but he was returned before twenty-four hours had passed. He was unconscious when he was found on the steps of the manor so they immediately called a healer. The healer said that something was wrong, but it was beyond her ability to tell what. They then called a priest who told them that a demon was feeding off of Raffi's soul. He did not know what could be done and informed them that Raffi's health would deteriorate before he died. How long that took depended on his strength. They called on several different priests who all said the same thing. Raffi finally asked them to stop trying as he felt he was wasting the time he had left. Not long after this, he began traveling as a bard in order to distract himself from his fate.

The conclusion of my collection of face studies!  At least for now.  Got all my main Wardens, plus some Orlesian Wardens, and now, the final Warden and Hawke.  This one was a fun challenge with the watercolor brush because it tends to have a weaker and less saturated hue than other opaque brush options, which can throw off the base skin tone.  It was a fun challenge, don’t get me wrong, but oof, sometimes it feels like I’m still learning basic colors... xD 

Anyhow, here are the final three characters I had planned: from left to right, Velyn Mahariel, Alessandra Surana, and Jaren Hawke.  Let’s go!

Velyn Mahariel - My canon Mahariel, who excels with the bow, and who is the only member of the Warden recruits who was conscripted against his will.  Upon being saved by Duncan and promised to the Wardens, Velyn resisted to the point at which Duncan used the Right of Conscription, and as a result, Velyn has little respect or kindness for the Wardens or Duncan himself.  Velyn has always been eager to prove himself to his clan and Dalish peers, and harbors a deep rage and disdain for humans because of all the Dalish have lost to them over the centuries.  Velyn was raised to be a hunter for his clan, but unfortunately was not considered a strong candidate to become Master of the Hunt.  His tendency to rush into a fight, or look before he leapt, made the hahrens of the Sabrae clan uncertain as to how much he could be trusted to lead with a level head.  A peerless warrior nevertheless, Velyn has not given up on the possibility of returning to his clan and proving himself once the Blight is over.

Alessandra Surana - My canon Surana, an anti-Circle mage who flees the Circle during the upheaval caused by Uldred and lives as an apostate blood mage.  Alessandra was born in Antiva, and her parents relocated to Ferelden when she was quite young, and she was soon after taken into the Fereldan Circle.  She was trained apart from the majority of her peers once her skill for magic was realized, and eventually she became a Kinloch Hold combat mage.  That is, a mage trained specifically to do battle with enemies of the Circle and Chantry (the Fereldan version of the typically Orlesian Knight-Enchanters).  For a time, Alessandra served the Circle in this capacity, along with two other mages, Frala and Tully, but over time grew to disdain her position.  Very often, combat mages would be dispatched with templars to relocate and apprehend apostate mages; over the course of many such missions, Alessandra became bitter and angry toward the Circle and templars.  The Battle of Ostagar, to which Alessandra was dispatched with her fellow combat mages, was the last straw, and Alessandra used Uldred’s uprising afterward to escape the Circle with the goal of destroying her phylactery.

Jaren Hawke -  My canon Hawke.  While technically born a mage, Jaren doesn’t actually use his magic very often.  When he was young, he trained with his father, both in order to build his skills as a mage and learn to hide his magic, but once Bethany began to join in their training as well, Jaren noticed that Carver seemed to feel left out.  One day, Jaren pretended that his magic “wasn’t working” in order to find a way to include Carver in something, and began learning how to wield a sword alongside him.  He still would train with Bethany, but he used his magic less and less, preferring to see Malcolm focus his attention on helping Bethany.  By the time the Fifth Blight started, Jaren had not used his magic for over a decade and very strongly leaned toward using his sword.  Jaren was present with Carver during the Battle of Ostagar, and helped his brother to escape so they both could reunite with Leandra and Bethany.  Jaren loves fighting, but hates killing, and is drawn very much to the healing elements of magic.  He tends to use sarcasm and humor to cover a deep empathy for others, and the problems in Kirkwall get under his skin as a result.  

The final face studies!!  These took forever to get out, but they’re finished, and I’m quite happy with how they turned out!  I enjoy the green background with these characters.  I might jump ahead to Inquisition characters to get some of them involved too, but for now, this is where I’ll leave this art project!

Though cliché Yung story tapos medyo predictable rin yung ending, nadala talaga nila sa acting. kahit na may pasok ako bukas nanood pa rin ako hahahahaha team #TJAMANDA or #FFUFFY&FREAM!!! Di ko alam paano nasasabi ni Amanda yung mga "tayo na lang" banat niya kay TJ tapos na tetake ni TJ as a joke hahahahaha dati hindi ako agree na 'di pwedeng maging best friend ang babae at lalake. Pero dahil growing up andyan pa rin si Pao (kahit Hindi Siya straight hahahaha same sila ni Papa P lol) napatunayan ko naman na kahit anong mangyari andyan naman Siya. Tyaka no judgment sa'min. Di na ako nagexpect sa plot twist kasi it started great naman. For me a perfect movie is, kahit Hindi totally happy ending basta naproject yung pinaka lesson throughout the movie, solve na ako dun. I probably had other plans but I can’t remember. I want to make Zed and Wal food and go looking for a wraith for Grandpa.

I want to plant flowers. And start working the spa. I want to visit Bee and go baby shopping. I want to go on a horse ride ??? date with Vlad.

I want to start practicing to do the necessary necromancy to maybe try and start doing the research for the ritual..see if the mage magic can help me with it.

I.. don’t need to start getting wraiths yet, that can wait till after December.. ?? Maybe.. at least November. 

I want to start working on restoring the burned wing. I don’t know if I want to put in anything new there.. Just plans. 

OH I want to set up a swing for Alessandra!!!! A tire swing~

I think for the first time I'm faced with an Actually Difficult decision when it comes to who to leave in the Fade. Between Alessandra and Loghain it was a no-brainer; that was always the ending I had planned for Loghain. Between Sabine and Alistair it was Sabine because Sabine romanced Merrill if anyone can either find Hawke in the Fade or be compellingly obsessed with finding her in there it's Merrill. Between Cillian and Stroud it was always going to be Stroud because Cillian is truly too ride-or-die for Anders to leave him hanging that way. And between Emilia and Stroud it had to be Emilia because she's truly kind of a monster to the point that even milquetoast pro-Chantry Theodore Trevelyan was unsettled by her.

Between Mallory Hawke and romanced Alistair, it's actually kind of a tough call! On the one hand I've got Mal who did her absolute damnedest not to give a shit until the very end and then surprised everyone by defending the mages and for whom voluntary self-sacrifice would be a massive leap of character growth, and on the other hand I've got Alistair who is not King specifically because benevolent-but-still-kind-of-selfish Warden Jolene Cousland didn't feel like sharing him and for whom losing him would probably force some kind of character growth as well, though in her case it wouldn't be her choice.

Also worth factoring in is that Mal is in a polycule with Merrill and Isabela and while they'll be crushed, they'll have each other to get through it. Jo likewise will grieve Alistair hard but she'll survive it.

It's not even an easy choice from my Inquisitor's perspective because on the one hand Calla likes Varric. a lot. and isn't eager to feed his best friend to a demon. but on the other hand she's a dwarf and brutally pragmatic, and she gets that whatever shit the Grey Wardens have done, we probably still need them.

This game is like "Which one of your OCs do you want to hurt more?" and I'm here like "Is there any way I can hurt them both?" 🤔

Cinnamon and Magic (Closed rp)

Alessandra gripped at her hair letting out a soft breath. Her Lieutenant had slipped in a coupon to a shop she’d thought the witch would like in a pile of paperwork she had been doing. It had been far too long of a night, so Alessandra needed to clear her mind. Alessandra had run out of cinnamon of her own besides the pack in her pocket. That wouldn’t do. She would have to by herself some more spice later, but for now... Stepping into the store, Alessandra hummed. It smelled fine at least.

Cursed eyes glanced around at the baked goods that she could eat, but they all looked too sweet. She would just get croquettes later. Still, Alessandra wasn’t willing to waste this trip or coupon that she was given, Aurora would surely be disappointed if she didn’t at the very least try something. Walking to the counter, her finger tapping on the counter, she ordered a cinnamon tea.

After little waiting, Alessandra received a fresh cup. As she turned and before she could take a sip, a hard force bumped into her hands, the cup getting smacked out of her hand. The hot liquid splattered on the floor. The cup clattered on the ground as the witch jumped back. A heated frustrated breath came out of her. “Watch it” Alessandra hisses as she looks up to the culprit.
